It was started in September 2009 and was wrapped up in July 2022. In fact, it has nearly 1,200,000 posts! To partake, users would roleplay the character in your forum avatars and have him, her or it interact with the other characters. There is no continuity to speak of, and there is no need to go on an ArchiveBinge before jumping in.

----
!!''We Are Our Avatars'' provides examples of:
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder: A-H]]
* AbortedArc: Some arcs fail to finish, leaving things hanging.
** Etheru's "New Homunculi Arc" will probably never start, due to the fact that the player himself has no clue what to do with the idea. Same with the Grimmoire Arc, and several other ideas, though he ''does'' play with the idea of going to the locations, sometimes.
** Hydronix's Quest 64 Arc. It unfortunately happened offscreen instead, due to some lack of interest in playing it by some tropers.
* AccidentalMisnaming:
** [[Manga/AzumangaDaioh Osaka]] often gets the names of things wrong, thanks to her {{Cloudcuckoolander}}ness.
** On page 1815, [[VideoGame/PanelDePon Lip]] mistakenly refers to the X-Bot Elise as "Eliza", but hastily corrects herself after a rather harsh response.
** Aternian trolls aren't fond of being called "gray-skinned {{oni}}", period.
** Oryx hates being called "Onyx".
* AdaptationDistillation: This trope is sometimes applied by simplifying events and complex characters from the source material.
* AdaptationalVillainy: The Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel are just downright fascist in one world. They tortured an Enclave soldier even though he's a PunchClockVillain.
%%* AllThereInTheManual: Sometimes happens for the characters, ''especially'' original characters.
* AlternateUniverse: A major element of the story, and the excuse for why there's multiple versions of so many different characters running around.
%%* AmusingInjuries: Happens to the Flash upon entry.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent:
** There was an entire arc based around this trope, where the old cast was temporarily left behind and everyone played new characters. These characters have since been assimilated into the main group, though, and there was the second one which started on the first anniversary of the game.
** Another one of these arcs was more of an AlternateRealityEpisode: each player played alternate versions of their more established characters and had them interact as if they were only recently introduced to each other.
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Sort of done with the "Concepts", which are moreover concepts like emotion and ideals given form.
* AntiMagic: [[Literature/CiaphasCain Juergen]] has a condition that has a magic and PsychicPowers dampening field around his immediate vicinity. It also unnerves psychics around him, and even harms them when they get too close to him.
* AprilFoolsDay: Done twice:
** The first happened on 4/1/2011, where several players took advantage of the changing avatars by playing them as gags.
** On 4/1/2012, many characters showed up in place of the group as one-off gags. Most of them were from [[Roleplay/WeAreOurAdventuringAvatars the two]] [[Roleplay/WAOAHighSchoolAU spinoff roleplays]], the other characters were Others. In addition, several characters played pranks (Catherine Grayson cosplayed as Vriska, Vivian prepared some Explosive Runes, Envy and Nue played tricks on Maggie and Hilarity, etc.).
* AscendedExtra:
** Etheru used a few characters who only got a few moments of characterization (Emily, Obelisk, Ami, and Marjorine) in the TheBusCameBack arc.
** In between the Writer and Tale of Two Yukaris arcs, Catherine's other Lightspeed Rangers only showed up to try to help the group stop the Retconinator by shutting down the Morphing Grid. Come [[QuestForIdentity Alyx's]] [[OriginsArc Origins]], they actively helped Catherine, her family, and Alyx, to the point of being involved in the final battle.
** During the group's stay at Amestris, a group of Enclave deserters with them originally being one shot characters. Then comes the Legion's invasion in Nether UsefulNotes/LasVegas where the same group swoops in guns blazing as TheCavalry. Later on, their commander, Adam Longram, would become a major character in the WAOAA spinoff and eventually WAOA recently.
%%** Harry, Faker Metis[=/=]"Raven", Chaos Deviot (present version, though this is arguable), Bassy, Scorpion (may be the only true exception to this trope here), Kokonoe and her crew, [=WarMECH=], and Future Joey Jones.
* AssimilationPlot: ATLAS plans on using nanobots to turn humanity into a single collective mind. In case that fails, they simply use force to keep the people in line. Unfortunately for them, they're taking on the group which has a handful of OneManArmy types.
* AuthorAppeal: People who play the game will often use this.
** [[GirlOnGirlIsHot Lesbians]] are a common kink shared among some people in the game.
** Etheru and his Mega Man obsession.
** {{@/Arcadiarika}} and her ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' obsession / {{Shout Out}}s, [[BalloonBelly weight gain]], {{Actor Allusion}}s, and making some ideas that fit under the RuleOfCool.
** Sapph likes [[CuteMonsterGirl monster girls]], giant girls, transformations, magic, tragic backstories, and surreal humor. Oh, and ''VideoGame/{{Pokemon}}''.
** Dreigonix also likes ''VideoGame/{{Pokemon}}'' (especially Deoxys), ''really'' likes ''VideoGame/MonsterHunter'', and is a ''VideoGame/RealmOfTheMadGod'' player. He also has something of a dragon obsession.
** Ozbourne likes petrification and transforming characters into [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} trolls.]]
** Raidou happens to like supernatural settings, mostly with demons. [[WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}} And bored looking women.]]
** Mr. Kirb likes ''Franchise/TouhouProject'', ''Franchise/{{Fallout}}'', ''Franchise/MassEffect'', several Creator/{{Nintendo}} series, and other video games in general.
** Icarael likes ''TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering'', WorldBuilding, and big, overarching arcs.
** Sunova/Imca likes cybernetics.
** Andy LA likes to insert musical references whenever given the chance.
* AuthorFilibuster:
** {{@/Etheru}} used Bass to violently lash out at the Characters and the Tropers, but afterwards, Etheru tried to make amends with the Tropers, and promised not to do it again.
** There was a brief period of time where Osaka would ''not'' shut up about Dee. She got better, though... before getting worse again.
** Averted in a battle with Xavier's Him, despite looking like it at first glance. Etheru said [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic Mega Man]] wasn't channelling a dislike of commonly used ideas in the game, Mega Man was ''just that pissed'' at having to fight yet another opponent with sadistic kinks and other things encountered before with previous opponents.
%%* BadassAdorable: Lip and Dee. Roll applies here too.
%%* BadassCrew: Kerberos Security, the We Are Our Action Avatars of the group is this. Some of the group proper are this to an extent.
* BadassSanta: Santa Christ, who randomly appears to help brutally smack down Apos. Afterwards, he briefly solved any problems the Avatars asked him to solve.
%%* BadFuture:
%%** The Incarnates Arc takes place in one of these.
%%** Doomed [[Franchise/TouhouProject Gensokyo]].
%%** [[VideoGame/BlazBlue Hakumen]] and [[LaResistance "Kokonoe's Resistance"]] come from one where [[BigBad Terumi]] took control of the NOL.
* BalloonBelly:
** In the world of Pokémon, Carter ate ''more than four hundred hamburgers'', resulting in quite a bloated stomach, and instead of being brief, he had to work it off. And then it happened again with ''every single Grayson'' ever since, with the exceptions of Matt, Andreus, and Alyx (and even then, her weight gain is fairly realistic).
** A non-Grayson (at the time) example would be {{@/Arcadiarika}} herself in-game, also due to a result of overeating. However, unlike the Graysons, she had a Gaki inside her body, which could explain her sudden and permanent weight gain.
%%* BatDeduction: How the Scarecrow's identity is deduced.
%%* BattleCouple: Several of the in-game couples are this.
* BecomeARealBoy:
** Inverted with Sonia, who was happy to try her hand at being a robot.
** Sunny wished to be humanoid after the ''Survivor'' mini-arc. She is just a cyborg cat girl now, but she does not mind since it is close enough for her.
%%** Happens a few times, most notably to 3Dee but also to Bass and Mega Man, twice.
* BeigeProse: Being a forum game, most of the action is told in short, simple sentences.
%%* BigBad: A few, including [[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} Dracula]], [[Anime/{{Monster}} Johan]], and [[VideoGame/{{Marathon}} Durandal]].
* BigEater: Carter, lampshading that he doesn't gain a pound constantly.
%%** Gluttony, [[MeaningfulName natch.]]
%%** Oryx and Jhoanna.
* BerserkButton:
** Protoman and destiny.
** Metal Sonic and any talk about Eggman.
** Mysterious Figure/[[spoiler:Deviot]] when somebody interrupts any of his drama scenes.
** [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]] and whenever someone mentions ''ComicBook/OneMoreDay'', about how ''Series/DoctorWho'' sucks, and insulting his hat. He then reveals that he has quite a few {{Berserk Button}}s.
** It's one thing to remind Shadow of poor Maria, it's another to remind him of his own freaking game.
** Don't mention the Zanscare Empire to Kincaid, okay?
** Hakumen has several: Terumi, utter monsters, Terumi, nuclear weapons, [[RuleOfThree and Terumi]].
** [[MamaBear Hakurei Miko]] if you threaten to harm or kill Reimu.
** Adam Longram in regards to genocide and RecklessGunUsage.
* BetterAsFriends: Garcie's ultimate opinion of her and Brian's relationship.
* BigNo: The group's reaction to [[spoiler:Weil blowing up Metal Sonic.]]
%%** Sigma's death.
* BittersweetEnding: The Witches Game arc; on the one hand, the trolls can't bother the main characters anymore, but on the other, Featherine ''can''. Not to mention [[spoiler:Victoria Grayson]] dies. This was considered a ''very'' controversial decision, especially when there were a million other ways to write her out without killing her. It also did not provide ''anything'' to the plot at hand, so [[spoiler: even if she was brought back]], she died anticlimactically and died for nothing.
%%* BizarreAndImprobableGolfGame: Ed Bighead's golf game against [[Anime/{{Godmars}} Takeru Myoujin]].
%%* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Players mostly try to avoid this trope, preferring to go for ambiguous morality. Although some characters have this viewpoint.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Tabika won't drain anyone she knows or likes, but sees nothing wrong with killing strangers in their sleep. Unless she thinks she's about to get into trouble, of course.
* BookEnds: The entire conflict with Kasei/Araragi ends with a Lucario (Gijinka or otherwise) being used as a battery for a machine.
%%* BreakTheCutie: With Link, Dee, Lip, and Roachey.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: This was a prominent running gag, where characters like Bass, Deadpool, Bernkastel, Raven, among others, would refer to the readers and the people reading. However, [[OverusedRunningGag the gag was done to death]] and it's since been downplayed. It got to the point where Etheru retconned the ability out of Bass because of annoyance with the gag.
* BrickJoke:
** At one point, Bass told [[Franchise/{{Disgaea}} Asagi]] that she was in a dating sim. A hundred pages later, she still hasn't exactly been told otherwise.
** In a more recent adventure, the gang has landed at a refueling station that's nothing more than a truck stop [[RecycledInSpace in space]]. Almost immediately, newcomer Tropers/PilotSolaris, his friend Human, and Grey enter a bar. Pilot's first action is to drink a shot of whiskey, and Human orders a coca-cola. Several hours (and several pages) later, Pilot returns to the bar, and Human is gone--and a pile of empty coca-cola cans is sitting next to his now-vacant seat. We don't see Human ''again'' until the next day, when he's seen leaving the bar and making a note to never go on a coca-cola binge again.
%%** [[VideoGame/Portal2 Wheatley's]] arrival in Nethervegas.
%%* BroadStrokes: Most non-{{Original Character}}s have their personalities and characteristics put down in this manner.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Oryx had been betrayed and Brought Down To Mortal by Archdemon Malphas prior to the events of WAOA. He was left only able to control his sword's power.
%%** Nearly everyone, at the beginning of the Pokemon arc.
%%** Lordgenome thought he did after losing Lazengann, [[AvertedTrope he wasn't]], due to his natural Spiral Power.
%%** Carter/Catherine was BroughtDownToNormal in the second AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent arc. His/her response? Instead of Wangsting, he/she shrugged it off as if it was nothing.
* TheBusCameBack:
** Several characters returned to put an end to [[spoiler:Apos.]]
** There were two entire Arcs where the only characters allowed were those that had been PutOnABus.
%%* ButtMonkey:
%%** Bass is growing into one of these.
%%** Silver Hedgehog has reached this status.
%%** Cyber Amy is this.
%%** Human Vriska is showing shades of this already.
%%** Caim, although he [[{{Jerkass}} deserves the crap he gets put through most of the time]].
%%** Boy Lightning tends to take on a lot of crap.
%%** Travis Touchdown.
%%** Daniel Lincoln
* CallingYourAttacks: The Spell Cards used by the Touhou characters, of course. Parodied twice by Dreigonix in the sparring match between Xene & Cirno, and the match between Oryx & Alice.
-->'''Xene:''' ''Improvised Strategy: Helix Bladeferno!''\
'''Oryx:''' ''Mystery Sign: I-Don't-Know-What-The-Heck-This-Card-Does!''
%%** Apparently, this is how Xene uses his attacks.
%%* CanonForeigner: ''Lots of these''.
* CapcomSequelStagnation:
** It's mentioned in the discussion that, in most plots involving the Multiverse being conquered/taken over/attempted to be destroyed, there's rarely any variation, the plots feel the same most of the time. Predictably, it's subject to a lot of parody.
** Some players who get into the game try and put their own plots involving threats about the Whateververse, without much variation or anything to set themselves apart from other arcs, subjecting these examples to parody as well. Some examples included the Anime Villains League and another arc involving a possible Dr. Doom plot with a ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' crossover thrown in. [[AbortedArc Neither of these plots stayed, due to players questioning what made them so special or generally being annoyed with the players doing something drastic for the arc]].
%%* CatFight: Between [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Nepeta and Vriska]].
* {{Catgirl}}:
** Ax [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this trope when he wonders why there are so many cats, catgirls, or cat-themed characters in the group. The answer? Because CuteKitten.
** Averted with Tira, who only wears a cat-eared tiara.
%%** Hina (sometimes), Nepeta, Ozzy (sometimes, anyway), later Osaka. Even "Raven" got into it. We also have some catboys, and an entire set of pages where everybody was a cat person for a while.
%%* CerebusRollercoaster
* CerebusSyndrome: Somewhere around the first [[WhamEpisode Wham Page]]. This has been slowly happening since the beginning; it started out as avatars just interacting randomly with each other with no plot whatsoever. By now, there's a highly active discussion thread.
* ChandlersLaw: Abused to the point a rule was put up saying not to disrupt anything currently going on.
%%* CharacterDevelopment: Especially inanimate objects or {{Original Character}}s tend to experience this.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn:
** The Trolls from ''Homestuck'' got this treatment a lot. As more and more information was revealed, some of the information contradicted some stuff established in the game. Not that it hurt anything, considering that they could easily be handwaved as Others.
** Apparently, before Carter/Catherine became known for... ''that'', he originally was a bit parodic, showing PSAS at opportunities.
* CheesyMoon: At some point, some of the group explored a moon made of cheese during their trip to 3E. They encountered Chaos Marines and Serpentera, who survived the encounter.
* ChekhovsGunman: Several [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist homunculi]] appear at various points earlier in the game before being the center of a story arc.
* ChessWithDeath: More like ''TabletopGame/{{Uno}}'' With Death. And ''TabletopGame/ConnectFour'' with Death. And Pokemon Battle with Death. And Poker with Death.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: [[GenderBender Catherine]], but she, at times, refused to help certain people. This was lightly [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructed]] when [[Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue Carter]] left Jennifer to save Martin, leaving the new girl confused. He then promises to tone down his tendency to save people's lives...which ultimately did happen during the ''Skyrim'' arc.
%%** Mega Man and Jack are hit with this ''hard''.
* ClownCarBase: The Phase Distorter, which on several occasions has actually been compared to the [[Series/DoctorWho TARDIS.]]
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Mega Man to some degree (he at one point looked ''underground'' for Joat, who went missing).
%%** Osaka, and LetsPlay/SirRonLionheart.
%%** Toyagumon, oh so much.
%%** There's a ''lot'' of Cloud Cuckoolanders, Hilarity most especially.
%%** Meria from the second TheBusCameBack Arc, although her [=Cloudcuckoolander=]-ness takes a more sinister form when you consider that [[spoiler:her player says she is actually [[PlanetEater planet-eating]] EldritchAbomination Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.]]
* TheCloudCuckoolanderWasRight: Kari points out that, technically, it was Arcie's fault for letting the other Legendaries in the Pokemon world grow up to be so dysfunctional. Arcie agrees.
* CombiningMecha: The [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Crossbone Gundam X-1]] can combine with Mana to form a PoweredArmor around her. The [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam V2 Gundam]] can do the same to Lip and make her around Mana's size.
%%* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Dai Daisuke is practically infamous for it.
%%* TheComicallySerious:
%%** Yasmin's heading toward this.
%%** Hakumen, as the OnlySaneMan, is already one.
* CompensatingForSomething:
** Shadow sure loves his Gatling Gun.
** Caim sure [[HeroesPreferSwords loves swords]].
** Levin is constantly mocked in this way due to his predilection for huge weapons.
* CompositeCharacter: This is done a few times.
** ComicBook/TheFlash is a composite version of his comics self and the one from the CW TV series.
** The Anime/MazingerZ in this RP can perform some of Anime/{{Mazinkaiser}}'s attacks; also Anime/GreatMazinger is a CombiningMecha based on two parts; [[Anime/ShinMazinger Energer Z]] and the [[Anime/GreatMazinger Brain Condor]].
** Thanks to CharacterDevelopment, [[Film/MyLittleEye Matt]] became a fusion of himself, several SixthRanger types, and Carter, the very heroic Other he was meant to be an opposite of. Right down to his two {{Heroic Sacrifice}}s.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Multiple enemies tend to be taken down fairly easily, even if it's because of one character.
%%** ''Completely avoided''.
* ContinuityNod: Both to the canon the characters come from and to previous events in the game. Sometimes even to crossover fanfictions written by one of the participants.
%%* ContrivedCoincidence: All of Josh's characters are infamous for this.
* CoolBigSis: Osaka, to Dee. Over time, though, their relations got worse with Osaka becoming incredibly obsessive over Dee, which resulted in Dee leaving the group.
* CoolSword:
** Joshua Strasin's warblade, a valgirai weapon that absorbs UV radiation and then upon activation goes all [[BuffySpeak lightsaber-y]].
** Caim's Strifesword, which he got from killing the Goddess of Strife.
** Oryx's magic sword is made of Tenebrium and can fire flame lasers and energy shurikens.
** Xene's Geneticlasher.
** Mitch's sword that he obtained after killing Caesar the first time.
* CrapsaccharineWorld: The world future Tails lives in is seemingly an amazing place, and Tails has the fortune of being the president of a non-corrupt MegaCorp. However, the corporations that ''are'' corrupt are far too numerous, the Earth has been in a war between [[Literature/NineteenEightyFour Oceania]] and [[VideoGame/DestroyAllHumans the Furon Empire]] over who gets to enslave the populace, and Tails' position causes him to be a frequent assassination target, losing an eye and an arm on two separate attempts.
* CrapsackWorld:
** From a world of Superheroes comes Dusk City, a city full of pollution, corruption, and a few other things, including superpowered criminals and an arms-smuggling ring. The Past District in the town, which bases itself in the 30s and 40s, actually seems ''more'' pleasant.
** The world of ''VideoGame/BlazBlue'' was already pretty crappy. However, the BadFuture Hakumen comes from is implied to be ''even worse'', with [[BigBad Terumi]] as [[TheEmperor Imperator Librarius]] in all but name. It got to the point where LaResistance, spear-headed by Kokonoe, began to search for allies from other worlds to replenish their badly depleted ranks-- leading to Hakumen meeting the Group.
%%** The World the Consolebots come from. Even after the Great Liberation, it's still pretty bad.
* CrazyCulturalComparison: Asagi Asagiri has this because she comes from a [[Franchise/{{Disgaea}} series]] where there is NoFourthWall... which translates to her coming from a home dimension where everybody has an intrinsic understanding/belief they’re part of a video game, and all the terminology/concepts that come with it.
* CrossPlayer: It's rare to find a player who hasn't played at least ''one'' character of the opposite gender.
%%* DarkIsNotEvil: Many examples.
%%** Alucard.
%%** Jennifer.
%%** Oryx, Nox, and Dark Xene. Dreigonix seems to be a fan of this.
%%** Subverted with Syphon and Guilty, although the latter is less actively malevolent, being retired.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Ax can sometimes be this, albeit unintentionally.
* {{Deconstruction}}: Where do we start? The entire thing involves taking characters out of their element, and the changes that ensue.
* DemotedToExtra:
** Shortly after 3Dee's introduction, she would usually only say anything whenever Cupid was involved or during introductions and would tend to sleep the rest of the time. And then [[Literature/PercyJacksonAndTheOlympians Rachel Elizabeth Dare]] appeared, which pushed Dee's speaking appearances back down into "pretty much nil" territory. Dee eventually left due to relations in and out of character spiralling out of control, causing Dee to leave.
** Dee got better, leaving Osaka's Other to fall into this territory; she was a pretty major character in her first appearance ''very'' early on, but lost most of her screentime to Dee and 3Dee in her subsequent appearances, due to her writer's preference for the desdroids.
** Protoman appears a lot less, but Etheru is trying to give him more appearances.
%%** Gandalf is usually this. Justified in that he's an old man(despite being undead) that uses powerful magic.
%* DeusAngstMachina:
%%** The Graysons' lives suck, ''impossibly'' hard.
%%** "Raven" is hit with this a lot, though she's not nearly as bad about it.
%%** Hakurei Miko has also suffered from this but not as downright cruel nowadays.
%%* DimensionalTraveller: '''Everyone''' part of the main group and it's main premise.
%%* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:Takoluka]].
* DivergentCharacterEvolution:
** Characters that start out similar are given their own traits as time goes on.
** Inverted with Osaka, Lyra, and Lip (less so with the second one) who grew more and more attached to Mana as time went on, to the point it became their ''only'' notable character traits.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim:
** All of Tropers/{{Midna}}'s characters, due to his banning from the TV Tropes fora. However, it was retconned so that they went back to their worlds.
** A more traditional example of DroppedABridgeOnHim would be Mammon and Guilty, via BusCrash. It was meant to be a HeroicSacrifice of the two, but he was no longer playing, so it happened offscreen, making the BusCrash more appropriate.
%%* DysfunctionJunction:
%%** Most of the characters played by arcadiarika. Eventually, they got better. By a lot.
%%** The entire group can be seen as this at times.
* EroticEating: Subverted with Sara, the former sexbot, who just chomps down on bananas.
%%* EstablishingCharacterMoment: A lot of characters; where to start?
%%* EvenEvilHasStandards: Team Rocket, in response to Carter/Catherine.
%%* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Lip's party dress.
* EvilCounterpart:
** An arc focused on {{Evil Counterpart}}s of several members of the Group.
** Inverted with Drifter, who had a [[TokenGoodTeammate Good Counterpart]]. They joined the group after the evil counterparts kicked him out for not being evil. After the original Drifter was killed off, he became a regularly occurring character.
** There was a previous arc where there were evil versions of the group being led by a Dark Other of Alucard, Adrian Tepes.
* EvilIsPetty: The [[VideoGame/MonsterHunter Ivory Lagiacrus]]. It destroyed ships around Jaya for the hell of it, posed in photos like an egotist and took a little girl's ice cream cone. The hashtag for that particular picture was YOLO.
* EvilVersusEvil: The focus of an entire arc involving the [[EvilOverlord True Evil Overlords]] trying to destroy the [[MadScientist Mad Scientist Society]].
%%** The Darkness and Morning Star.
%%** Team Rocket Vs. Team Magma Vs. Team Aqua.
* {{Expy}}:
** A lot of the characters Etheru introduced seem to share ''very'' similar roles to previous characters he's played.
** Pilot Solaris' TX-85 Battle Walker is nothing more than a modified {{Expy}} of the L5 Riesig from ''VideoGame/Battlefield2142'', [[SubvertedTrope although the TX-85 is actually based off of it]].
* FailureHero: Catherine got a lot of constant flack for this. {{@/Arcadiarika}} said that she made her constantly fail because the group is often accused of being too powerful (of course, those who accused the group never seemed to acknowledge that it is less about the power of the group and more about ''numbers''). As such, Catherine was hit with too one DiabolusExMachina too many. This was fixed, but at the cost of going [[InvincibleHero the other way]] by not allowing her to fail.
* FantasticNuke: Imca suggested that Aurora could wipe out the Thalmor with a gigantic magic spell as a warning to those who try to take over the world. At first, Aurora thought it was bad because there's the possibility of civilian casualties. Mitch even compared it to the situation that caused America to drop the nukes on Japan.
* TheFederation: The United Multiversal Federation. Several characters, however, have commented that the Multiverse is too big for one group to police effectively, and that they may have too much power.
%%* FictionalDocument: ''Ozbourne Meets Medusa''.
%%* FilmNoir: [[IndecisiveParody Indecisively parodied]] with Noir Rock.
%%* {{Flanderization}}: It tends to happen. A lot.
%%* FreakyFridayFlip
* FreudianExcuse: Some characters have these.
** Metal Sonic is angry that he was always left in a lab to constantly be updated while pondering why he was made, and why he didn't have friends like Sonic did.
** A less extreme example comes from [[Literature/LittleRedRidingHood Red]], a fairly cynical character. Her reasoning comes from her world's erratic behavior; it's far from a CrapsackWorld, but it's given her a cynical attitude.
** Izzy's reasoning behind his dislike of Yasmin stemmed from the fact that he was put through ''painful'' tests to see if he could replicate her, often being compared to Yasmin in the process. [[CharacterDevelopment He seems to have gotten over it]].
%%* FunetikAksent: Cultist-Chan, to a lesser extent Osaka.
* FunWithAcronyms:
** The "Magitek Autonomous Recalibrating Jinx Operator Restructured to Investigate Neomagical Entities", or M.A.R.J.O.R.I.N.E.
** Subverted with S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N., whose name doesn't stand for anything in particular.
* FutureBadass:
** [[Franchise/ShinMegamiTensei Rei Reiho]] [[LegacyImmortality the 21st]] is implied to be [[spoiler: Hikaru Jomon]] from a BadFuture.
** An older [[Manga/{{Heroman}} Joey Jones]] shows up as an agent of the [[TheFederation Time-Space]] [[TimePolice Defense Coalition]] on several occasions: once while spying on the Group for the TSDC, and once to arrest the Wrestling/UltimateWarrior (yes, ''that'' Wrestling/UltimateWarrior). He wears Heroman as his PoweredArmor. It is implied that his universe was taken over by the Skrugg, and that he was one of the only survivors.
%%* FutureMeScaresMe: This was a ''major'' part of the Incarnates arc.
* GargleBlaster: Oryx's Realmian whiskey, which is so strong, it's the only thing that can get him drunk. The only mortal he ever let have a glass was [[Tropers/MrKirb Lupo]], and that was because he had [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone accidentally killed Santa and really wanted to forget.]]
%%* GenderBender: It's gotten to the point that it's a RunningGag.
%%* GenkiGirl:
%%** Windy is a pretty good example.
%%** Cyber Amy seems to be a bit different, but applies as well.
%%** Saru Bracks in her good days.
%%* GentleGiant: Mana (almost always, but will fight if provoked), Anne (usually), Ogre (though a fighter), Mammon. In fact, most of these are somewhat subverted. All of them will fight if they have to.
%%* AGodAmI: Several villains.
* GrandFinale: While not a proper finale for the game in general, "[[SinsOfOurFathers Sins of the Past]]" serves as the finale to {{@/Arcadiarika}}'s roleplaying, tying up any loose ends and resolving any plot holes.
%%* GratuitousNinja: The Ninja Arc. The vast majority of the characters were Ninjas.
%%* GreekChorus: The members of Completely Different Inc. are becoming this.
%%* GreyAndGrayMorality: Yasmin believes in this trope, though she doesn't like poor reasoning behind people's actions.
%%* {{Grimmification}}:
%%** [[VideoGame/AmericanMcGeesGrimm The master of it himself]] makes an appearance.
%%** Red has it as a power, along with an inversion of it.
%%* GuardianOfTheMultiverse: The Time-Space Defense Coalition.
%%* HalloweenEpisode: Done twice.
%%* TheHeart: Mana, [[Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue Cathe]][[GenderBender rine]] to an extent, "Raven", Luca, Mega Man.
%%* HeavySleeper: 3Dee.
%%* HeroicSacrifice
* HiddenDepths:
** Bass is an okay therapist, apparently.
** Parodied with Scorpion who misheard it as "Hidden Deaths".
* HiddenElfVillage: The main Gensokyo. After the Pigmask Army invasion, Yukari blocked all the people sans the Gensokyo residents [[WeirdnessMagnet due to trouble causing whenever they head there.]] Subverted with Modern Gensokyo, which has been part of the United Multiversal Federation for 50 years.
* HighSchoolAU: Was a focus of an arc, where Others of the group attended the Tropers/JethroQWalrustitty Boarding School. It was so well-liked that it gained the second spin-off.
%%* HijackedByGanon: For once, the TropeNamer was on the other side of the hijacking.
* HisNameReallyIsBarkeep:
** Medic's name really is Medic.
** Tropers/PilotSolaris' Human companion's name is Human, though what his real name is anyone's guess.
* {{Homage}}: When the group members were fighting another Him, as Him was turning into a bigger, demonic cat, Mega Man was incredibly pissed off at having to fight yet another sadist. As Him got bigger, Mega Man [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist remarked that Him's doing nothing but making himself a bigger target]].
* HopeSpot: In Hoenn, Hakurei Miko was about to finally able to go back to her Gensokyo which is a decade overdue. However, Evil Eye Sigma 4 blocked her path and making sure she stay out of her homeland no matter what. Miko was less than amused by this.
%%* HumansAreBastards: Discussed and mocked, then played straight with Leaks.
* HumongousMecha: Several have appeared in game, both [[SuperRobot Super]] and [[RealRobot Real.]] [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyI WarMECH]] is a sentient version.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: I-P]]
%%* IdiotBall: Exists as an actual ball, that, if you pick up, your personality or intelligence make changes, drastic or otherwise.
* IfItsYouItsOkay:
** The normally straight Daniel is attracted to Oryx.
** Shane falls in love with Demon Asagi, but Shane's a Homosexual. Like Xavin, Demon Asagi bent his/her gender to accommodate for Shane.
%%* IncrediblyLamePun: ''Many''. Mammon, as well as his player Hydronix, seem particularly fond of these. They range from merely bad to truly cringe-inducing.
%%* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: Too many characters to say, but Etheru in particular loves making these.
* InformedAttribute Imca's player feels this way about Imca's fighting skills, since in over a year of being played, she has never once delivered a kill shot, only once managed to be of any actual use in a fight, and tied with Mario in a duel, despite many battles taking place.
%%* {{Jerkass}}:
%%** A lot of {{@/The Great Pies Alt}}'s characters.
%%** Caim, although he occasionally shows signs of being a JerkWithAHeartOfGold (and by occasionally, we mean once in a blue moon).
%%* JerkassGenie:
%%** Bartimaeus.
%%** The Dell Solutions Center to a greater extent, as with Bartimaeus, you at least have to phrase it in the form of a wish.
%%* JerkWithAHeartOfGold:
%%** [[VideoGame/YumeNikki Madotsuki]] and Narsuvius.
%%** Literature/LittleRedRidingHood straddles the line.
%%** Mark usually falls into this trope, although he does sometimes act like a straight up {{Jerkass}}.
%%** The second Adam Longram is like that, the jerk part stems from the bitterness of being an Enclave Commander.
%%* JokerJury: In a recent arc.
%%* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: First done with Ozzy, and later with "Raven". The second one was a bit more awkward, since three different aspects of her personality showed up.
* KillerGameMaster: The Dungeon Master, a TabletopGame-themed super villain. He narrates the actions of the heroes coming after him and uses giant dice to determine their rolls. He invokes RuleZero too much and angered Starlight.
%%* KilledOffForReal: Bit, Tails, Matt, all of Team Metal save Iron Amy/Amy Nidorina, Mammon and Guilty, Ime Anne Assman, Future Chaos Deviot, Future White Air Knight, and [[VideoGame/BioShock Subject Phi]].
%%* KillSat: The [[Franchise/{{Disgaea}} Celestia]] Satstriker.
* LargeHam: These show up.
** Mephiles is an evil example.
--->'''Mephiles''': Glad you asked, Blaze, I am not a hedgehog, I can't even be called natural, I can only be called '''THE DARK'''.
** [[Franchise/MortalKombat Shao Kahn]] doubles both as an evil example, and he uses every Hammy trope in the book. Plus he insults you just because he can.
%%** Hydronix's Metal Sonic completely loves it.
%%** '''''[[VideoGame/BlazBlue Bang Shishigami, Warrior of Love and Justice!]]''''' as usual.
%%** [[VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes Travis Touchdown]]. STRAWBERRY ON THE SHORT CAKE!
%%** [[VideoGame/RealmOfTheMadGod Oryx]]. ...HAVE YOU NO RESPECT FOR FALLEN DEITIES?!
%%** The LEGENDARY [[VideoGame/MonsterHunter Levin Maelstrom]]!
%%* LemonyNarrator: Some Tropers have the characters actions in this. Etheru seems to like it in particular.
* LighterAndSofter: After the Incarnates arc, less incredibly dark and edgy arcs became more prominent. Not to say there ''aren't'' dark moments, but...it kind of Zigzags, actually.
%%* LightIsNotGood: Morning Star.
%%* LightningCanDoAnything: The Transformation Lightning.
%%* LoadBearingBoss: Pikadevil.
%%* LotusEaterMachine: The "Ultimate Mercy" that Incarnate VideoGame/MegaManClassic uses. It has the strange side effect of keeping people from aging, though.
%%* LoverTugOfWar: Sonia, Yuri, and Roll got into this over Bass.
* MamaBear:
** Osaka is pretty happy and friendly normally, but if you mess with her "little sister" Dee and she's around to see it, she'll tear into you without hesitation.
** The usually calm and collected Ozzy will hurt you if you try to harm Mika or Wrath.
** Cyber Amy will try to kill anyone who messes with Baby Onix. And she's not hesitant to be violent either.
** Hakurei Miko will be merciless to anyone if they try to harm Reimu or even her Others.
** Whatever you do, ''do not'' attack Catherine Grayson's family or even mentioning the idea of it. She will find the attacker(s) and either talk them out of it or, if they're incapable of being talked out of it, just flat-out attack them.
%%* MegaCity: Some characters from Modern Gensokyo implied their home to be this.
* MegaCorp:
** Future Tails' own megacorp, Aeon Robotics, [[VideoGame/DestroyAllHumans Furotech]], and [[Franchise/TouhouProject Moriya Industries]].
** Special mention goes to Immortal Faust's ATLAS Corporation (Not to be confused with the ''VideoGame/{{Borderlands}}'' nor the one from Advanced Warfare), a massive corporation that has its hands in nanotech, robotics, firearms, and much more. They even have their own private military. Unfortunately for ATLAS, their opposition is the group with [[BadassCrew Gespenst and his friends]] who went on a crusade to stop their villainy.
%%* MegaCrossover
* MetaGuy:
** Tropers/AweStriker and Tropers/{{Ozbourne}}, due to being humans from worlds very much like ours, often have familiarity with the fictional universes that many of the other characters come from.
** Most of Tropers/CapedLuigisYoshi's characters also qualify, due to their immunity to the fourth wall.
%%* MoodWhiplash:
%%** Oh, ''god''...
%%** Lampshaded by Rika a few times.
* MoreDakka: Pilot Solaris' [[HumongousMecha TX-85 Battle Walker]] just ''reeks'' of this, BeamSpam, [[EnergyWeapon Frickin' Laser Beams]], KillItWithFire, and MacrossMissileMassacre. Plus, one of the [[ContextSensitiveButton Context Sensitive Buttons]] on its console is even ''labeled'' this.
%%* MostDefinitelyNotAVillain: Of all characters, [[spoiler: ''Ulquiorra'']] does this.
%%* MultiversalConqueror: Too many of these to name.
%%* TheMultiverse
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Oryx, after nearly killing Yvette in a SuperpowerMeltdown.
%%** Xene, post-resurrection.
* MythologyGag: Lots:
** One example comes from Maria Renard's Plasma Whip, which was dubbed, "The Halo".
** At one point in the Yellow Devil's first appearance, Sonia commented that the Yellow Devil didn't seem all that powerful. Bass told her to face it alone, and Sonia shot back, telling Bass to face Death alone.
** Lordgenome talks about Cytomander, Thymilph, Adiane, and Guam in his conversations sometimes, at one point saying that he thinks Thymilph and Adiane like each other. [[spoiler: [[MinionShipping They do.]]]]
** Tama Saisei is an customized Eyebot with a TV screen for a face. In the Fallout universe, [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110402223736/fallout/images/a/a5/CivilianEyebot.png the Eyebots are originally floating televisions]] until the Enclave redesigned them into surveillance and reconnaissance bots.
%%* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: It's been in the game for a while.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** Mega Man bargained with Kasei that if they let Luca go, they could look through him. Both sides held up their part of the deal; however, Kasei got the upper hand, as he managed to acquire the schematics of Mega Man's weaponry.
** In a similar situation, Aurora struck a deal with [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Greybaum]]: if he let Dr. Distatio's robot daughter, Kelly, go, Aurora would give Greybaum directions to a dimension where some {{Phlebotinum}} could be found. Unfortunately, by that time, Greybaum had already analyzed Kelly and disassembled her, meaning that the trade came out in his favor. To make matters worse, Tsubaki was with the group that bargained with Greybaum, allowing Terumi to follow the group via a bug on Tsubaki and offer Greybaum help in exchange for the research data on Kelly.
%%* NoBisexuals: Averted with Gabriella and, for the most part, Catherine. "Raven" as well, oh so much.
%%* NoFourthWall: All of Tropers/CapedLuigisYoshi's characters.
* NoKillLikeOverkill: Nova bombards a cave with a giant ship because it hid a Deviljho. It survived the impact.
%%* NoSenseOfDirection: Roronoa Zoro just walked into the plot, out of nowhere.
%%** This happens to quite a few new characters.
* NominalHero: A version of Aurora is supposed to be the Dragonborn. Instead, she chose to focus on sidequests, and the Group essentially stole her job. However, the Dragonborn ends up being congratulated for their achievements, angering Imca and Asagi.
* NotSoStoic: Hakumen breaks down when he sees Rota's memories of her rape. To be fair, everyone else broke down at that point too.
* OfficialCouple: Twenty-two. In order of appearance, [=Joshua/Jeniffer=], [=Bit/Link=], [=Maria/Alucard=], [=3Dee/Xenos=], [=Dee/Joat=], [=Hilarity/Osaka=] (now broken up), [=Michael/Melody=], [=Catherine/Kotohime=], [[DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu Victoria/Lrith]], [=Aurora/Max=], [=Sapph/Anne=], [=Gabriella/Cyber Amy=], [=Lip/Usso=], [=Brian/Garcie=] (broken up as well, on better terms, though), [=Rai/Konoe=],[=Ty/Luca=] (now broken up), [=Mammon/Lillian=] (now broken up due to death), [=GG/Garcie=], [[{{ot3}} Falken/Asagi/Imca]], [=Gene/Laverne=], [=George/Lillian=], and [=Alyx/Hayley=]. In everywhere but the main roleplay, [=Luca/MegaMan.=]
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu Caim takes down the Goddess of Strife by himself!]] Too bad the battle wasn't shown in detail.
* OnlySaneMan: A lot of them:
** Raidou Kuzunoha and Garcie usually play this role to the Group. Hakumen and Rai have a different approach to things, using the uncanny ability of the Group to attract weird things as snark fodder.
** In a group of Evil Counterparts, Nega-Kari, Carona, Evil Anne, and Leaks fit this role among the psychos, blood knights, and [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs Psychotic Blood Knights]]. Nega-Kari's a weird example, being the Counterpart of a Ditz who barely knows about social customs.
* OverusedRunningGag:
** BreakingTheFourthWall. It got to the point that a ''rule'' was set up telling players to not break it on a constant basis.
** [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Psycho Gamzee, or Sane Gamzee]], whichever name you prefer. It was shocking the first time the stoner went nuts, but now whenever he makes an appearance, it's almost expected for him to flip the fuck out due to lack of [[GRatedDrug Sopor Slime.]]
%%* PantyThief: The Panty Prinny.
* PapaWolf:
** Mega Man's normally an outgoing, friendly character, but harm Miles, he'll want to harm you to the fullest extent that he can provide.
** Deviot is this way about his family. To the point of sacrificing himself to not just save Amy's life, but to kill Incarnate Yukari.
* PieInTheFace: At the climax of the Ninja arc, the Shredder was defeated with a Boston Cream Cake to the face.
* PlayerHeadquarters: Formerly Tails's CoolShip, the [[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 Phase Distorter]], which he combined with [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog the Chaos Emeralds]], [[Literature/IHaveNoMouthAndIMustScream the remains of AM]], [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion EVA-01]], and [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Gurren Lagann]] to upgrade it into a HumongousMecha.
* ThePollyanna: Lip is constantly abused and [[BreakTheCutie broken]], but is somehow able to maintain an upbeat and friendly personality regardless.
* PowerIncontinence: Oryx cannot control his high-level powers.
%%* PowerTrio:
%%** Joel and the Bots.
%%** And then we got the {{Tsundere}} Team of [[Tropers/{{Hydronix}} Cyber Amy]], [[Tropers/{{sunova}} Imca]], and [[Tropers/{{Katsuun}} Taiga]].
%%** [[VideoGame/{{Quest 64}} Brian]], Dante, and Asagi.
%%* PoweredArmor: Various characters have this, for example it is Hoshiko, Mitch, Longram, and Saru's default outfit.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: Mark, just before facing his incarnate:
-->"I feel a suicide coming on!"
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: Mitch, though he's less of a "works for the highest bidder" contractor and more of a "fights for safety" contractor (and this is by accident). To date, he has a team of sixteen people who are more or less associated with him, three tanks, two mechs, a helicopter, a hypersonic jet, an [[Franchise/{{Fallout}} Eyebot]], a spaceship, and [[Franchise/MassEffect Commander Shepard and her entire team, this includes a second space ship the "SSV Normandy 2" and its crew]]. ''This is all by accident.''
* ProperlyParanoid: Bass suspects Sara of spying on them in a previous arc... And he's more or less correct. Sara's not worried.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Q-Z]]
%%* RandomEventsPlot: 80% of everything that happens.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Starling delivers one to Nivel-X during the climactic battle again in the Disgaea/Monster Hunter mashup world. It affected Nivel-X's mental state to the point where it caused Nivel-X's head to explode. Granted, Nivel-X grew another head, but that did a lot of damage.
* RescueArc:
** The [[Manga/OnePiece Impel Down arc]], where the group goes to save Link, Franky and Ilyana. Had been delayed for a long, ''long'' time.
** Luca and Mega Man had to also be rescued from Kasei.
%%* RidiculouslyHumanRobots:
%%** A fairly common archetype, including Sunny and Yuzuki.
%%** All the [[VideoGame/MegaManX Reploids]].
%%* {{Robeast}}: Mechanical Beasts and Haniwa Genjin.
%%* RoboticReveal: How Yuzuki's true nature was revealed.
* RoguesGallery: The group usually defeat/kill their enemies, but sometimes they come back, such as Father and Kasei (albeit briefly).
%%* RPGEpisode: Once used in a level of Pikadevil's Hell.
* RunningGag:
** Mega Man sometimes has a tendency to drone off of something related to the subject, such as an adventure he had.
** Link used to break any pots he came across, before he TookALevelInBadass.
** Lip tends to chase after the talking lime after saying "Ooh, a fruit!" whenever it appears.
** The Black Hole Bomb and it's constant uselessness.
** Ozzy and petrification. And now, Mega Man's joined in on the fun.
** Characters tend to attack Mega Man or one of his friends... Without realizing that they can't feel pain.
** Luigi usually enters by crashing through the wall and shouting "[[Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus Nobody expects-a-the Second Bananish Inquisition!]]", or some variant.
** Ever since their respective BalloonBelly incidents, if Carter/Catherine or Michael decides to eat, Bass would warn them not to eat too much.
** Silver being called a bird.
** Yggdra missing with Crusade.
** Tenshi winding up in DarkerAndEdgier worlds (usually Castlevania and [[VideoGame/KnightsInTheNightmare Aventheim]]).
** Duo getting blown apart.
** For a short time, [[MightyGlacier Hydronix]] chasing [[FragileSpeedster Scourge]] around.
** Kouji in his genderbent form giving a MarshmallowHell to Joey. Catherine's also joining in on the fun of giving a MarshmallowHell, but she does it to nearly everyone, even those who ask her to give such a hug.
** Joey being mistaken for a girl. (It's not really all that hard, though.)
** Bassy will hug or tackle hug everyone, and you will like it.
** Pianos falling on Ed Bighead.
** Hydronix's characters being ignored.
** "Raven's" love of cats. Starting to be played down, well, just a bit.
** Before Iron Amy got a girlfriend, she hit on a ''lot'' of women, and none of them felt comfortable with it.
** Newcomers getting freaked out by Mana, usually with a variation of [[CaptainObvious "You're huge..."]]
** Random bystanders [[FailedASpotCheck not noticing]] Anne.
** Jurgen offering Cain a mug of tanna after a battle.
** Sapph fainting at or otherwise reacting unpleasantly to the sight of blood.
** Hilarity posted his message in the discussion instead of the main topic. Sapph and Raidou seem to be his apprentices.
** Ship tease and "[Insert couple here]'s shipping fics increased]".
** GG turning into random girls. The fact that they're only been Ozzy's characters so far is just a coincidence.
** [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Eridan]] getting murdered. May also count as RevengeFic.
** Jack being mistaken for a boy (not helped by the name and androgynous Avatar).
** Hakumen and [=WarMECH=] being the last two people left awake at the end of each day.
** Random bolts of lightning striking characters and transforming them [[HilarityEnsues in amusing ways]].
** The Silver City hotel's walls being demolished. And now any Hotel, just to mess with poor Sapph.
** When the Fourth Wall is broken nowadays, it's usually accompanied by an aggravated scream by Bass, who's relaxing back in his world, usually growing more and more apathetic to the Fourth Wall breaking.
** Bart getting something stolen from him.
** Characters "blanking".
** Etheru's tendency to have the parts that describe the actions in their host [[LemonyNarrator be snarky and comment on the characters themselves]]. This carried over to at least [[RolePlay/WeAreOurAdventuringAvatars one of the spinoffs]].
** Oryx getting knocked unconscious. [[TheAlcoholic And getting drunk.]]
** Xene and his many mutations and transformations, for a time.
** [[Website/SCPFoundation [DATA EXPUNGED]]] seems to be becoming one.
** [[BlindWithoutEm Daniel losing his glasses]], and [[Tropers/{{Aquatica 1000}} his player]] [[TakeThatMe mocking herself for using the gag so much.]]
%%** "[[VideoGame/CastlevaniaSymphonyOfTheNight Die, monster! You don't BELONG in this world!]]"
%%** {{Unusually Uninteresting Sight}}s.
* SanitySlippage: Hilarity, comedically. Sapph, [[ShellShockedVeteran not]] [[DrunkWithPower so]] [[WhatHaveIDone comedically]].
* ScrewYourself: A [[VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas Think Tank]] named N30-N suggests that the two Couriers, a male and a female, should make love to each other. No one approved of this at all for obvious reasons.
* SeasonFluidity: Somewhere near the top. While there is no continuity outside the {{Story Arc}}s, roleplayers that have followed the thread for a long time tend to look at it all as one big story. However, after the Hyrule-arc, things have become very much more reliant to continuity.
* SeriousBusiness:
** [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools May be responsible for its popularity boom]], [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools but may also be responsible for its decline]].
** To an extent, this has also been corrected; there's still a bit of SeriousBusiness, but at the same time, the Tropers are trying not to take it ''too'' seriously.
* ShipTease:
** Mega Man and Luca's respective players have been having a little too much fun with this recently. According to them, though, it's doubtful anything serious will come out of it.
** And before that, there was Michael and Melody, with the ShipperOnDeck and SheIsNotMyGirlfriend (and, inversely, HeIsNotMyBoyfriend) moments.
** A Rika/Catherine was teased a bit, though their player says that she only did it [[ItAmusedMe for the lulz.]] She later admitted that she wasn't really trying anymore.
** Mammon and Lillian. Notably, Lillian was the first PC he met in-game that's not a background story.
%%** Quite a bit earlier, it was just avoided with Brian and Windy. Though Windy and Were Hare may be another story...
%%** "Raven" and Fred seem to be going this route, whether or not it'll come to fruition is another story.
%%** Roachey and Violet at one point (planned), then later on, Mara and Roachey.
%%** "Raven" and Aya seem to have gone this route recently.
%%** Hakumen and Tsubaki also have their moments.
%%** Mana and Axl, a bit.
%%** This is possibly the case with Wren and Kari.
%%** Adult Arcadiarika and Wren had their moments as well.
* ShooOutTheClowns: Link undergoes a transformation from comic relief into a KnightInSourArmor [[spoiler:after Bit's death.]]
* ShoutOut: [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries <An irritable transexual? That sounds just vague enough to be Catherine!>]]
* StoryArc: Although the setting is easily changed with some effective roleplaying, some longer arcs have been implemented. After the move to Role-playing, there's always been one or two. Anyone who wants to can usually kick off an arc, and several plots sometimes run at once. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to have become too confusing. Some of the more note-worthy ones are:
** An AlternateUniverse resolution to the final conflict of ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' tied in to Tropers/{{Mapi}}'s MegaCrossover fanfic.
** A truly epic arc concerning vampires, which began with the introduction of an AlternateUniverse FutureBadass version of [[Franchise/TouhouProject Flandre Scarlet]] and came to its conclusion with the defeat of none other than [[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} The Lord of Evil, Dracula himself.]]
** Not to mention the more over-arcing ''Are machines sentient?'' arc, which began with the freeing of Dee and her sister Bit.
** One of the largest involved [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Father's]] attempt to remake the multiverse, and destroy the FourthWall.
* ShapeshifterGuiltTrip: Apos creates a doppelganger of Bit during his battle with the party.
* ShownTheirWork:
** Some Tropers do this to make their characters consistent or accurate. But outside of characters, ideas and concepts are sometimes borrowed by looking through the original plans of some franchises.
** Arcadia's done a lot of homework about the ''Franchise/PowerRangers''/''Franchise/SuperSentai'' franchises. This is particularly blatant during the "Revenge of the Spark", "Alyx's Origins", and "Sins of the Past" arcs.
** If you want ''VideoGame/Quest64'' stuff, ask Tropers/{{Hydronix}}.
* ShowWithinAShow: Several, including ''Bass and Bassy'' and ''The Suite Life of Zudak and Lemurian''. Movies include ''Heroboy Takes On the Incarnates'', ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Freakazoid}} Babeheart]]'', and ''[[VideoGame/BlazBlueCalamityTrigger Calamity Trigger: Rise of the Black Beast]]''. There's even a videogame-- ''We Are Our Avatars: Incarnates Reborn''.
* SleptThroughTheApocalypse: During the second Monster Hunter World, everyone spent the last 7 days high on Samus's super marijuana after the camp caught on fire and they woke up to the apocalypse.
%%* SliceOfLife
* StarterVillain: Captain Morgan in the One Piece arc, mostly because he was outnumbered and overpowered by the group.
%%* SmallNameBigEgo: Some characters.
* TheSpeechless:
** Game-changing character Bit started out as one of these, then [[spoiler: minus made her able to speak, and freed all of her kind.]]
** Tails Doll is only able to be understand by a small list of people, considering he speaks in Mmphs.
** Astrid Avgren is mute and communicates mostly by writing.
* SquareCubeLaw: Somewhat averted. When Hilarity shrunk Osaka to be an inch tall, she ''eventually'' started to feel somewhat cold.
* {{Squee}}:
** Lip, over Dee's [[SleepCute sleep cuddling]] with Link.
** Raven loves [[CutenessProximity cats]], and catboys, and catgirls, and big fiery cats.
* StableTimeLoop: Komatsu and the others teach a few of their moves to a younger Manga/{{Toriko}}, setting Toriko's path in becoming a great Gourmet Hunter.
* StalkerWithACrush: Tumbleweed goes after [[VideoGame/KirbysEpicYarn Fangora]], and [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog Vector]] seems to always follow [[Franchise/TouhouProject Patchouli Knowledge.]]
%%** In a way, Osaka towards Dee and Mana.
%%** In the High School Alternate Universe Arc, [[VideoGame/Quest64 Gill T.]] after [[BigBad Apos]].
* StraightGay: Tails, after he eventually comes out of the TransparentCloset.
%%* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Dark Bassy (also known as Feral and Evil Bassy), Black Frost, arguably any of the Incarnates as is.
* SuperRobot:
** The Phase Distorter was created from an odd mishmash of this and RealRobot, incorporating technology from several different mecha from different universes. Given the generally soft sci-fi setting, though, the end result falls into this trope. Its head even looked like a [[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 Mister Saturn]].
** Anime/MazingerZ, Anime/GreatMazinger, Anime/UFORoboGrendizer and Daltanias have showed up in the Incarnates arc. Anime/KotetsuJeeg is in the second AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent arc.
%%** The Mother Vanguard dropped off a few Mobile Suits for the Avatars.
%%** [[Franchise/PowerRangers The Dragonzord and Zenith Ultrazord]].
* TakeThat:
** Several toward ''Literature/{{Twilight}}''-- not that it doesn't deserve it. One notable one is that "Edward" is an insult among Vampires.
** Even more to ''Webcomic/{{Sonichu}}'', to the point where Chis-chan occasionally appears, often doing horrid things. Even [[ForTheEvulz Bernkastel]] [[EvenEvilHasStandards hated him]].
** In addition, ''ComicBook/OneMoreDay'' is occasionally jabbed at.
** Mega Man, Duo, and Bass occasionally throw insults at ''Mega Man 8'', citing the story as a poorly written, annoying, cheap cash in.
** Lip and Osaka (both Midna's characters) throw a Take That at in-thread advertising at one point.
** Charles Roberts having two IC {{MST}}s and two of the Avatars[[note]]Metis and Tetsuya Tsurugi[[/note]] coming and forcefeeding his computer down his throat.
** There tends to be a few of these to be about prominent fight scenes. The players also tend to throw {{Take That}}s at the unappealing parts of the game.
** Upon discovering that Kohaku's world uses Bitcoins as a currency, Envy would rather steal from someone than use the nerd-run currency.
** Tim Langdon/Go-Buster Ranger Red is--and even throws--a massive Take That towards reboot Dante from ''VideoGame/DmCDevilMayCry''[[note]][[{{Irony}} despite his physical appearance being said character, sharing the same first name of his voice actor, and sharing about the same backstory]][[/note]]. Aside from being kinder than him, he was appalled by the existence of the latter character, [[HeroicBSOD staying in his room for days.]] He even told Michael Grayson that he prefers taking ''an acid bath'' than being locked in a room with reboot Dante for a day.
* ThemeNaming:
** A very clever one with the OriginalCharacter Orange who is named after both a color (to fit in with the [[Manga/DragonBall Red Ribbon Army]] Color Theme as he's the brother of Capt. Yellow) and a citrus fruit (as he is the rival of a character from ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' named Lime).
** Melody, the demon that's teaching Roll how to use some demonic power, fits with Mega Man (or Rock) and Roll's music theme, but she's less than a Mega Man character (due to supernatural origin). Interestingly, the name fitting into the whole theme was an ''accident''.
** [[VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2 Roxie's]] Pokémon are named after members of the Music/{{Ramones}}.
%%** Practically all of the Pokemon Gijinkas.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Averted for the most part; the group does get therapy from each other.
** Shockingly, since Tails left, the group's therapist is ''[[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Bass]]''.
** Terri tried to take on this role towards the Graysons for a while. Catherine eventually [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by saying that all of her problems and [[IdiotBall bad decisions]] would baffle any therapist, hence why it never sticks for her and her family.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Pilot Solaris' TX-85 Heavy Assault Battle Walker. Here's the full armament: [[MacrossMissileMassacre 50 missile silos capable of firing 50 STS rounds at 500 rounds a minute]], [[MoreDakka four heavy artillery mortar guns capable of firing 150mm rounds at 100 rounds a minute (and the standard issue chaingun capable of firing explosive-tipped 50mm rounds at 10,000 rounds a minute)]], [[BeamSpam two personal onboard beam cannon arrays]], and [[EnergyWeapon three "flash" laser cannons capable of firing once every five seconds with onboard]] HELP (Hi-Energy, Low Power) power regulation system, as well as an [[KillItWithFire optional napalm flamethrower with four 50,000 liter tanks of napalm ready to be used at will]]. Oh yes, it also has a dashboard designed by [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Pinkie Pie]] that's full of {{Context Sensitive Button}}s that can fire different weapons at will.
%%* ThoseTwoGuys: In order of appearence, Cain and Jurgen, Matice and Toyagumon, Rex and Weevil, Blanc and Rouge (the Rose Knights).
%%* TinTyrant: Caesar in PoweredArmor.
* TokenEvilTeammate: A few players have attempted to create these:
** [[Tropers/{{Gunthir}} Merchant]] and [[Tropers/{{Icarael}} Caim]]. Neither of them really cause a major amount of trouble, regardless of alignment. The problem is that they rarely do anything evil amongst the group, making it hard to see them as {{Token Evil Teammate}}s.
** Bart ''would'' be this trope if it weren't for the fact that he's so horribly ineffectual.
** S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N. is a feared galactic conqueror in his own universe, but is so overshadowed in power by the other group members that he decides it'd be better to make allies of them than enemies.
** This trope's history of failure is the entire reason why [[VideoGame/SoulSeries Tira]] was given a third, more approachable personality by [[Tropers/AndyLA her player]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood:
** Osaka and sata andagi.
** Bit and Apples.
** Elise and chocolate.
** Sara and bananas, [[SubvertedTrope but not in]] [[YumYum that way.]] Roswell also loves bananas.
** Jabor and [[ImAHumanitarian humans.]]
** [[Manga/OnePiece Franky]] and cola, which also serves as his PowerSource.
** [[Franchise/TouhouProject Nitori]] and cucumbers.
** [[Franchise/TouhouProject The Oni]] and sake.
** White Air Knight and rations. His hawk form prefers bird seed or bread.
** LetsPlay/SirRonLionheart (and to a lesser extent, Xenos) and '''''DELICIOUS CHATEAU ROMANI!'''''
** Yggdra and strawberries.
** Ax and cinnamon bun-zah.
** Tetsuya Tsurugi and Pork Buns.
** Snorunt Yuki and Ice Cubes.
** Proton and Rolling Rock Beer.
** Zora Brian and eggs.
** [[Franchise/ShinMegamiTensei Jack Frost]] and anything cold, from ice cream to ice cubes.
** Jacky and cherries.
** Hakurei Miko and cherry blossom tea.
** [[TheAlcoholic Oryx]] and [[GargleBlaster Realmian whiskey]].
** Jhoanna and [[VideoGame/MonsterHunter Plesioth meat]].
* TransparentCloset: Tails was in one for a lengthy period of time, even after having several {{Erotic Dream}}s involving Sonic and drawing Sontails Rule34.
%%** Some other people didn't even try to hide it.
%%* TrueCompanions
%%* {{Tsundere}}: A common character trait, so much so that Taiga once compared it to a virus.
* UnfazedEveryman: A common archetype assumed by characters who are unfamiliar with the technology, magic or settings used in the game, as well as new characters who have just joined the group. Often used as a means to explain to the unfamiliar what is happening in the game.
* UnusualUserInterface: During the investigation of a submarine in the [[VideoGame/HyperdimensionNeptunia world of 3E]], Marcia speculates that it might be controlled by an arcade machine. Turns out she was right, and the thing is even powered by quarters.
* VerbalTic:
** Some catgirls use Nya and variations.
** "Raven" as a wolfgirl rolls her Rs sometimes.
** Jack Frost has his "hee-ho".
** Sunny has dood, which she picked up from a prinny with her adaptive speech programing.
** [[AC:[[SelfDemonstratingArticle Hypothesis: Flantron's multiple-personality disorder as a result of her deteriorated programming causes her to mix robot-speak with her "normal" speech.]]]]
** "I mean..." seems to be one for Jhoanna.
* TheVirus: The ''Computer'' Virus, to be exact. In the past, it's infected many of the robotic characters.
* VisualPun: Kari's new appearance gave her glasses. She was established as being a little too loyal to Luminosity, making her [[RuleOfSymbolism blind to the truth]].
* VivaLasVegas: [[Franchise/{{Disgaea}} Nether]] [[{{Halloweentown}} Ve]][[VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas gas]].
%%* WackyRacing: At least one story arc was centered around this.
* WeirdnessMagnet: It doesn't matter how peaceful, quiet, and isolated the place is. Once the group comes in, the weirdness level ''skyrockets''.
-->'''Xene:''' The Harbingers Of Crazy, that's us. XD
* WhamEpisode: Page 1726-1729 when [[spoiler:Flandre]] died. Oh, and then just a little while later on pages 1795-1800 when [[spoiler:Bit]] died.
%%* WhatDoTheyFearEpisode:
%%** Pretty much every Scarecrow appearance.
%%** Once in a while, some characters talk about their fears.
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Everyone, after Osaka accidentally shot Irene in the foot (with a ''very'' powerful gun, to boot).
** This is the default reaction of the saner members of the Group (i.e., everyone else) whenever [[HeroicComedicSociopath Caim]] does what he does. This is PlayedForLaughs.
* TheWorfEffect: Duo. He's pointed out that he's incredibly powerful at times, but he has the uncanny tendency to [[RunningGag get blown apart]].
* WriterOnBoard:
** One example would be [[Series/PowerRangersInSpace Andros]] telling the group how the Touhoumons aren't cute, want to take over the world, etc. all because arcadiarika didn't like them (at first). And then there were the times where the Graysons were used to voice the writer's negative feelings.
** And then it happened again with Alyx [[OutOfCharacterMoment beating up Web]] because both he and the player found webcroma annoying. Said player later regretted it, [[PutOnABus sending Alyx to a mental hospital.]]
** Midna used his characters to voice opinions about Mana, among others.
** The Writer, one of Lemurian's characters [[spoiler: (and also Lemurian himself)]], was a bit... ''vocal'' in his views.
** This sometimes happens with [=Daionusthe23rd=]. He's gotten better about it, though.
** Sometimes players (usually new and/or if it's Arcadiarika) will get the idea to just [[DroppedABridgeOnHim kill one of their characters pointlessly and/or anticlimactically]] due to poor reception, which is usually regarded as an unnecessary way to get rid of them, as there are many different ways to remove them without killing them.
* WorthlessTreasureTwist: Upon finding the treasure chests on the [[Manga/OnePiece Island of Rare Animals]], [[VideoGame/BioShockInfinite Bioshock Elizabeth]] opens the chests with a lockpick and it turns out they were empty. Gaimon was relieved, as he couldn't spend the money on anything because he would abandon his friends.
-->'''Gaimon:''' [-But... I suppose... this is better this way, maybe...-]\
'''Bioshock Elizabeth:'' Why is that?\
'''Gaimon:''' What... what would I do with this treasure anyway?\
'''Bioshock Elizabeth:''' ...That is a good question. [[JokingMode I don't suppose you could buy a ship off of this island anyways.]]\
'''Joseph:''' A Good question, Gaimon. Maybe the real treasure is the time you spent with your new friends?\
'''Gaimon:''' I'd never want to leave this place. I couldn't just abandon my friends.\
'''Bioshock Elizabeth:''' I'm sure they'd feel the same way.\
''(Elizabeth smiles innocently.)''
* YaoiFangirl:
** Yanmie got very turned on by seeing Enker and Ty kissing, and once tried to find Leeron's stash of doujinshi. When Yanmie found a Doujinshi of her and Rock, she bought it... [[SubvertedTrope But then tore it to pieces]], [[BigSisterInstinct due to having a basically familial instinct toward him]].
** Tsubaki [[StealthPun Yayoi]] gets a nosebleed after seeing a doujinshi of Rai and Konoe. She even thinks it's "hot".
* ZeroGSpot: Used as a way to convince Black Baron into giving up his piece of the device.
-->'''Imca:''' ....Ummmmmm, why don't you retire in space. You can make a [[RecycledInSpace movie out of it]]. "Pimps in Space"..... "Bitches in Space".... whatever you want to call it. [--Not that I would approve of those but negotiation....--]\
''(Black Baron thinks about it for a moment.)''\
'''Black Baron:''' [-Well, the ladies do like the ol' space horizontal tango...-]\
...Ah, what the fuck. Ya'll mothafuckas got yerself a deal!
[[/folder]]

----
-->'''[[Series/TheMuppetShow Waldorf]]''': I can't believe it. An entire page, and we don't get mentioned once!\
'''Statler''': Yeah... should you thank them or should I?\
'''[[JustForFun/StatlerAndWaldorf Both]]''': [[MemeticMutation Do-ho-ho-ho-hoh!]]
