Here. A Dreamwidth Roleplay loosely based off VideoGame/AsurasWrath. Characters are summoned to the city of Midgard by Valkyries in the service of Thor and Hephaestus. Why? Well, Midgard is home to the Bifrost, a portal that allows for interdimensional travel, and if either the Fae or the Qin get a hold of it, they could use it to raid other worlds for resources. So the characters aren't just protecting the last free city for humanity, they're also protecting their own worlds -- and receiving rewards (valuables, weapons, cybernetics) for their deeds.
----
!!This game provides examples of:
* AllMythsAreTrue: Mythological figures from pantheons across the world -- from Thor to Hephaestus to the Monkey King -- exist here.
* AppliedPhlebotinum: The Monkey King uses this for his events.
* BigBadassBattleSequence: The game opened with one of these. The inspiration for this came from Film/SavingPrivateRyan.
* CrapsackWorld: The world is divided between two powers who hate each other. Both sides treat humans as inferior species. The only haven for humans in the world is regularly under attack because both powers want the Bifrost, and humanity must look to other worlds for its protectors.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: The Deeps district. Due to the constant threat of siege (and actual sieges), Midgard built downward, and so an entire district of the city exists beneath the ground.
* TheFairFolk: The Fae.
* FantasyCounterpartCulture: The Qin to ancient China...with a lunar capital.
* HumongousMecha: Not only can they be found in Qin armies and in Midgard's defenses, characters from mecha series may bring their mecha with them. Current mecha series include:
** Anime/MobileSuitGundam00
** Anime/MobileSuitGundamAGE
** VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration
** Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann
** VideoGame/Xenosaga
* IJustShotMarvinInTheFace: When Ilya tried to wrap a present for Kiritsugu (a gun) it went off a few times. Luckily, Gawain is a Servant, and thus is ImmuneToBullets.
* ItAmusedMe: Why the Monkey King does what he does.
* KilledOffForReal: Unlike most [=RPs=], death here is permanent. Luckily, medical technology here is so advanced that almost no injuries are fatal.
* MagicalGirl: Quite a few, from the following series:
** Manga/FateKaleidLinerPrismaIllya
** Manga/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaViVid
** Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica
* MegaCity: Midgard.
* MonkeyKingLite: The Monkey King.
* Nanomachines: A common method of artificially enhancing a character's abilities.
* NonPlayerCharacter: Thor, Hephaestus, and the Monkey King.
* OntologicalMystery: Averted. The characters know why they're there, who brought them there, and what they have to do to leave.
* OriginalGeneration: The game accepts original characters.
* PostCyberPunk
* RousingSpeech: Thor opened the game with one of these, complete with a TitleDrop.
* RunningGag:
** Gawain is not Myth/KingArthur.
** Woolf neither has nor wants an office.
* ShiningCity: The Palace district. This is the wealthiest and most extravagant district in the city, and it's where Thor lives.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Though the characters knew this going in. Canon updates are still possible, however.
* UrbanSegregation: Midgard is divided into six districts: The Docks, the Foundry, the Grand Library, the Wards, the Deeps, and the Palace districts. Each district has a villa for PlayerCharacters to live in, each villa possessing its own unique characteristics.
* WeCanRebuildHim: Characters can receive upgrades to their abilities through the available technology. Sometimes this happens in order to save someone from death, but it can also be a reward.
* WorldOfBadass
