->''I run into a radio shack and grab all the N-Gages. Then I run into the bathroom.''
-->--Aitruis, at the beginning of Mall Fight 1 on Website/TheEscapist.

Mall Fight is a [[PlayByPostGames Forum Game]] originally from Website/GameFAQs, then Website/TheEscapist, then on [[http://z13.invisionfree.com/Mall_Fight/index.php its own forum]] and then on Website/TheEscapist again.

The main location of the game is an endless mall which contains everything you could ever imagine. Yes, even that. That too. [[OverlyLongGag Yes, but you'd have to look for that one for a while.]] The goal is to kill [[AnyoneCanDie everyone]] you see with [[ImprovisedWeapon improvised weapons]], customized weapons and the such. Due to the many things one can do in the Mall, it is not a rarity that various matters of plot appear, and there has been way enough for Mall Fight to have its own continuity.

In fact, Mall Fight has been less about [[ArtifactTitle actual fighting]] than it is overcomplicated plots and sometimes very soapy drama.

It's filled from head to toe in [[PlotHole plot holes]], [[KudzuPlot hanging plots/subplots]], [[CallBack call backs]], [[ShoutOut shout outs]] and [[RunningGag gags]]. The "main" threads have ended, but there is currently a "spin-off" on the Website and The Escapist (There are at least 15 threads up to now if you count the two Mall Fights on the [[http://jrnetwork.net/ JR-Network]] and the thread(s?) on Website/GameFAQs) and has a video game in the works [[VaporWare which is likely never to come out]]. Mall Fight 9 is in production with a lot of {{Retcon}} of the EarlyInstallmentWeirdness

----
!!Mall Fight contains examples of
* AbhorrentAdmirer:
** Diamond to Waffles, but its not because he thinks she ugly, [[spoiler: its because she made him kill his parents. He overlooks it in Mall Fight 7.]]
** Salt for just about anyone. Most of this stems from no one being interested rather than looks.
* AbnormalAmmo: Mr. FPV constructed a gun that fires ice cubes at people. Yep, he sure did.
* AbortedArc: This can happen when one writer sets up a plot point, but another writers do away with it because they dislike the element, or because they have a better idea, such as when...
** Tox planned for a lot of stuff back in Mall Fight 2 and 3, but couldn't execute it due to time restraints and the other Fighters.
** Waffles' real writer eventually stopped trying to make large storylines in Mall Fight 6 due to them never going well.
%%* AbsurdlySpaciousSewer: The Mall's sewer system.
* AerithAndBob: Tox, Waffles, Ran, Salt, Miniman, Paddy and Knife next to... Connor.
* AlternateUniverse: Three, as of right now: Knife's Mall Fight, Ran's Mall Fight, and Reboot Mall Fight (which is an divergent of Ran's Mall Fight). There is also Mall Fight Generations which is a several universe.
%%* ArcNumber: 6 and 114.
* ArtifactTitle: That could be argued due to tendencies from the Fighters to go to locations other than the Mall or do things other than fights.
* AscendedExtra: Fighters who, when first appearing, are unimportant, but then become more prominent later on. Diablo only appeared on Mall Fight 3 as a random drunk ranting about the lack of VODKA but then become a recurring villain in 4 and on.
%%* AppliedPhlebotinum: By the truck load.
* ApocalypseHow: Class 5 ''Played For Laughs''. The Cheeseburger Spider planet, Moxia, gets blown up whenever fist bumps, somehow rebuilds itself, and gets blown up again.
%%* ArtifactOfDoom: The Swords of the Grand House.
* AscendedMeme: A lot of jokes from the Skype chat get sprinkled into the forum.
* AuthorAppeal: The Mall Fighter Writers have been known to sneak whatever they like into their posts, such as...
** Justin and Diane have references to ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure''.
** Zambino has references to music that he likes.
* AuthorAvatar: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zigzagged]]. Tox and the gang are avatars of [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Real Tox and the gang]], but those are [[AuthorAvatar Author Avatars]] of the [[MindScrew really real writers]].
%%* AlmightyJanitor: The Janitor himself.
%%* BadassArmy: The [[Series/DoctorWho Dalek]] Armada.
%%* BadassCrew: The Mall Fighters and their [[BizarroUniverse Negas]].
%%* BadassFamily: The Knife family and the Bacon family.
* BenevolentArchitecture: The room in which the fighters respawn always contains weapons.
* BerserkButton: Zambino will go off if you ship him with Ice and Justin gets pissed if you ''dare'' call him [[Music/JustinBieber Beaver]]. [[VitriolicBestBuds The two push each others buttons continuously.]]
* BewareTheSillyOnes: All of the Fighters really. As stupid as they act, all of them have a good body count.
* BilingualBonus: Due to Google Translate's accessibility, hundreds of messages on the threads are in different languages.
* {{Bizarrchitecture}}: [[WordOfGod Word of Tox]] says that the Mall is infinite but with an edge. By that, he means that there is a central area and an edge while everything in-between is somehow infinite, which means that you could only reach the edge of the Mall through by-passing the infinite middle part. The same goes for the sub-basements. You can only reach the bottom through unconventional means or plot convenience.
* BlandNameProduct: Averted, the Mall Fight Writers' [[TrademarkFavoriteFood favourite drinks]] are real, such as Vernors or Yoohoo.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: The Fighters aren't considered as morally ''anything''. They just follow whatever interests them.
* BreadEggsBreadedEggs: Used by Nega Waffles, when he combines "what the fuck" with "what the hell" into "what the helling fuck".
-->"First question, what the hell?! Second question, what the fuck?! Third and final, what the helling fuck?"
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Chances are they'll destroy the bricks too.
** There's even a Fifth Wall, which prevents a universe from collapsing unto itself. Already two of those have been broken.
* BrickJoke: David the Mexican hooker from Connor's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrOOxEcGUYU Wasteland video]] will pop up randomly.
* CanonDiscontinuity: According to just about everyone, only Mall Fight 1, 2, certain parts of 3, Knife's threads, certain parts of 7, 8 and Ran's thread happened.
* CharacterDevelopment: Done surprisingly well.
* ChangingOfTheGuard: By Mall Fight 3 none of the Players from Mall Fight 1 are around anymore, except as Main/TheCameo or as an NPC under another player's control.
* CoincidenceMagnet: Real examples apply, such as Waffles claiming to have accidentally stolen from Manga/FutureDiary in his writing.
** The city of Tox (which definitely came before the actual Tox) turning out to be a real place in Corsica. Even more coincidentally, Corsica is a French island; Tox and his Writer are French. [[MindScrew The city came first, too.]]
* CoolGate: The [[VideoGame/{{Ultima}} moongates]] in Mall Fight 2 and 7.
* CoolStarship: The Sky Fortress, a fortress that can fly and go into space.
* ContinuityReboot: Often talked about, but never actually done.
** Ran's thread is the closest to applying that trope, as only the Mall Fights up to 3 have happened in that continuity.
* CrossOver: There have been multiple cross-overs in Mall Fight, but most notable are the [[Series/DoctorWho Daleks]] playing an important role in the story and The Auditor which comes from the ''WebAnimation/MadnessCombat'' series.
* CurbStompBattle: Nega Tox killing the [[ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths Anti-Monitor]] by snapping his fingers and then doing the same to Tox without taking a step in Mall Fight 4.
** A more recent example is when Waffles fights Tommy and somehow ''atomizes'' him. Waffles then collects those same atoms and throws them down a set of stairs.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Waffles [[spoiler: having murdered his family when he was a kid.]]
** Venbak and Futox also apply.
* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler: The Nega City was full of black buildings and has crashing lightning]] but its population is completely normal.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Ever since there began having an overarching continuity, Mall Fight has often dipped into that.
** Ran's Mall Fight thread.
* DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist: Stab? Shot? Ran over? No worries!
** [[spoiler: Hell, even Salt's HeroicSacrifice ended up with her just coming back at the start of Mall Fight 8.]]
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: "Balance between [[OrderVsChaos Chaos, Order]]... And Balance."
* {{Determinator}}: The Mall Fighters will never give up. Ever.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Tox' counterparts (like Xot, Futox, Venbak, etc) were at first almost identical to him in personality but became different characters in their own rights.
* DungeonPunk: One of the hundreds of ways you can define the Mall as.
* EasyAmnesia: Andrew, John, Futox, Venbak, Xot and others all had coincidental cases of forgetting huge parts of their past.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The first Mall Fight is really weird, because it has does not have a single character listed here.
* EverybodyDiesEnding: When it became clear that [[spoiler: Mall Fight 8 wouldn't work]], Connor and Tox' Writers decided to [[spoiler: destroy the entire omniverse.]]
* FakeOutOpening: The opening for Mall Fight 9 was [[http://z13.invisionfree.com/Mall_Fight/index.php?showtopic=219&view=findpost&p=26497954 a short incorrectly spelled muddle of words]], but when finally came back Waffles the [[http://z13.invisionfree.com/Mall_Fight/index.php?showtopic=219&view=findpost&p=26498064 real opening happened.]]
* TheFamilyThatSlaysTogether: The Bacon Family and Arnold Layne's family.
* {{Filler}}: Pops up just about everywhere, but most infamously used in Mall Fight 7, with Salt's romantic subplot being probably the only reason the thread had more than 400 pages.
* FictionalDocument: The Mall Fight Magazine.
* GambitPileup: In Mall Fight 4.5, between Nega Tox and Toxter.
* GambitRoulette: [[spoiler: Nega Tox planned everything, even him being possessed by Toxter back in Mall Fight 4.5.]]
* GodAndSatanAreBothJerks: Ironically, [[Myth/NorseMythology Hel]] is probably one of the nicer Gods, [[spoiler: even nicer than the new Goddess of Helheim, Salt]]
* GoneHorriblyWrong: Everything that the Mall Fighters and the [=NPC=]s create will go this way, including T.U.R.O.K and Mango.
* GreatBigBookOfEverything: The files from the multiple security rooms have been known for making the plot advance more than once.
** There's even an entire different HammerSpace dedicated to the files.
* GuardianOfTheMultiverse: Taken to an extreme with nearly an entire mythology:
** The Gods: Godhead Fridge, Adrien Brody and Professor Brian Cox.
** The Higher Powers: Martin, Backroom Six and Alexander the Great/Ultimate. [[spoiler: They are all dead, though.]]
** The old Mall Fighters (Claymorez, Aitruis, etc.)
** The Mall Fighters themselves. A large number of their enemies want to take over the Mall to help take over/destroy the Omniverse.
* HammerSpace: There's a reason why a Mall Fighter can carry 2 shotguns, 6 chainsaws, 2 swiss army knifes, 1 minigun, 591 copies of the Mall Fight Magazine, 692571 scrolls...
** Lampshaded after Tox and Waffles defeated an army of Dutch people and obtained an [[ReadingsAreOffTheScale unquantifiable]] number of mattresses.
* HearingVoices: Diablo hears Nega Ninja Medic in his head. How the Nega is doing this exactly, is unknown, but telepathy is unlikely, considering that the voice started showing up after Diablo was sent to the future.
** For a while in Mall Fight 2, Tox had the spirits of Xot, Futox, Female Sam G, Code Monkey, Martin and Jim inside his body, and had to constantly hear their voices until he summoned them out.
** Waffles has stated there are at least five people in his head.
* HeelFaceTurn: Played straight with Diablo and [[spoiler: subverted with]] Nega Tox.
* HeroicSpirit: Most of the Mall Fighters have this at some point.
* HomeBase: Mall Fight Offices. Connor and Diablo both had their own personal version they call a lair, but Connor's is just a IT department with a bed, while Diablo's was a more traditional SupervillainLair (When they don't get destroyed).
* IconicItem: Most of the Fighters have one.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: Subverted. Diablo's {{Mooks}} at the end of MF4.5 have deadly accuracy.
* ImprovisedWeapon: Improvised weaponry used to be the main point of Mall Fight, and sometimes still is.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: The Dark Forceuser, first for being an AnticlimaxBoss in Mall Fight 2 and failing to kill the Mall Fighters in Mall Fight 3 ''with fucking aircraft carriers''.
* InsistentTerminology: The Fighters are protagonists, and ''certainly not'' heroes.
** It's not a universe, it's an omniverse.
* LostSuperweapon: The Mall has a billion or so in it's vaults.
* LovecraftLite: Dark things lurk beneath the Mall... [[YourMom Including Tox' mom.]]
* LongRunner: 5 Years isn't too shabby for a forum game about people beating the shit out of eachother.
* MultinationalTeam: The fighters include among their ranks [[TokenMinority African-American]] Waffles, Americans Connor, Ran and Salt, Australian Knife, French Canadian Tox, Brits Sigma, Joe and Tommy, etc.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: When Diablo tried to blow up the Moon to kill the other Mall Fighters, but hit Nega Tox instead.
* NonLethalKO: Even though characters die ''a lot'', they either respawn or reappear in Hell. Yes, in ''Mall Fight'', dying and going to Hell is considered non-lethal.
* NonSequitur: Mall Fight 7 especially, which yielded very odd imagery; for example, an operational computer in the middle of a cornfield running a non-existent version of Windows.
* {{Novelization}}: Tox and Waffles' Writers attempted to make a novel out of Mall Fight, but it never got off the ground.
** Partially straight, as Tox' Writer is making a novel based in Mall Fight's universe, but not directly about the threads.
* NWordPrivileges: Subverted by the TokenMinority Waffles, but played straight with Black Soul.
* NoirEpisode: The first 'segment' of Mall Fight Generations (or at least, it tried to be).
* OldHeroNewPals: Knife, having first appeared on page 6 of Mall Fight 2, is the 'oldest' that still posts regularly.
** This is especially evident in [[http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/540.376169-Mall-Fight-RP-Intermission-Open-No-Sign-up-Needed?page=1 Ran's Mall Fight]].
* OverlyLongName: The Timothy Bartholomew Gonzales Lloyd Martin Olive Kenneth Blair Herman family.
* PlotHole: Mall Fight is filled with fucktons of them (due to most of the story going on being purely improvised), but the biggest one is Martin and Backroom Six going back in time in Mall Fight 2 to "help" the Mall Fighters defeat Sister even thought Sister was still defeated in the future before they went back in time.
** This results in just about fucking up the entire time-line.
*** An ironic follow-up of this plot hole is Futox asking Martin why he went back in time to defeat Sister even thought she was defeated anyways, even though he was never told that Sister would be defeated even without Martin and Backroom Six' intervention.
*** The most ironic thing is that Martin and Backroom Six did absolutely nothing when the Mall Fighters started fighting Sister.
* PortalNetwork: The Hypercube System is basically that, in which you can go anywhere in the various universes and timelines by using the Cubes as a tele-transportation system.
* PlotParallel: Often used by the Mall Fight Writers to give a meaning to things that happened long ago but don't make sense.
* PreMortemOneLiner: Inverted by Waffles.
-->'''Dalek''': YOU REALIZE IF YOU FAIL, WE WILL EXTERMINATE YOU.
-->'''Waffles''': That's an odd thing to say to someone about to kill himself.
* PurposelyOverpowered:
** Just about every villain, legendary item or spell refers to that notion.
** Tox' former signature weapon, Epsilon, is not only a jab at that trope, but also the [[KatanasAreJustBetter overuse of katanas]].
* PrivateEyeMonologue: Knife and Ran in Mall Fight: Generations' [[Main/FilmNoir noir]] sequence.
* ReactorBoss: Tox' Writer is especially fond of those.
* ReadingsAreOffTheScale: By the time Martin was introduced, the notion of levels was completely distorted into oblivion up to the point where the Mall Fighters' levels were so high they stopped giving a shit about it. So, more often than not, the levels get reverted back to 1. It didn't help that Tox accidentally raised the level cap to 1,000,000.
** Ironically, the level system is supposed to be a joke.
* RedOniBlueOni: Tox(Blue)/Salt(Red), Waffles(Blue)/Tox(Red).
* {{Retraux}}: More often than not, the writers do things that reminisce to old PC text adventure games such as VideoGame/{{Zork}}.
* TheRival: Tox and Xandus.
** Nemesis and Mango.
** Connor and Waffles in the beginning, although they soon became VitriolicBestBuds.
** SitcomArchNemesis: Ice is this to Tox. Waffles, however, views it in a different light.
* RPGElements: Sometimes, the Mall Fighters level up or gain some kind of skill, and at some other point, they completely forget about it.
** Taken to an extreme when Waffles imagined everything was a Turn-based RPG.
** In fact, any Mall Fight after 7 has made use of RPG elements.
* RunningGag: Several.
** Tox yelling "CHEESE IT!" and Ren casting down molten cheese everywhere.
** Tox and Waffles forgetting about everything and start commenting on whatever room they're in.
** Waffles drinking coffee and immediately spitting it out.
** Someone building a fort.
*** Except for Diablo, whose forts always blow up.
** Misnaming Venbak (or was it Vacuum?).
** "Do you like karaoke?"
** Potlucks.
* [[ShoutOut/MallFight Shout Out]]: Due to the Mall containing everything in existence, this is bound to happen a lot.
* SpinOff: Subverted, much to Tox's displeasure. He tried to start a prequel centering around the Sixth Wall and Sixth Remnants Army, but due to lack of interest, it went nowhere.
** On the more succesful side, the spin-off, Earthventure, is very sucessful.
* TalkingAnimal: The Mall Fighters can talk to animals ([[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Salamanders and Nakadiles, for example]]) and vice versa.
* TheOnlyOne: The Mall Fighters are, in the end, almost the only people in the Mall to begin with.
** Partly subverted, due to the implication of other people living millions of miles away from the main area of the Mall.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Bro bumps are powerful enough to constantly [[RunningGag destroy the planet Molxa, inhabited by cheeseburger spiders.]]
* ThePowerOfRock: More prevalently in MF 2, where Ran used a Gibson Super 400 (it had many abilities, including creating a ''black hole''), and in MF 7, where John caused all sorts of mayhem by using a Red Special.
* TwoFistedTales: Because the writers have just as big a liking for that sort of thing as the next guy.
* UnreliableNarrator: Caused by the fact that there is no real GM to Mall Fight, more often than not, 2 Writers will start arguing over what actually happens.
* WaxingLyrical: Just another form of the many [[ShoutOut shout-outs]].
* WalkingTheEarth: In Knife's case, Walking the Multiverse; in Tox' case at the end of Mall Fight 7, Walking the Mall.
** The Earthventure is literally that, with the remaining Fighters walking around the Earth.
* [[WordOfGod/MallFight Word Of God]]: The Mall Fighters started and have been adding to this page, so most of what's said by them here can be taken as canon.
** Also referred to as [[WordOfGod Word Of Tox]] ever since Tox and his Writer became important parts of the continuity.
* YearInsideHourOutside: In the Mall's Hell, time passes much quicker than on the surface.
