Starting out as Celestial Eruption back in 2006 on Invisionfree, Celestial Refresh is a statistical Play-By-Post Game centering around characters and settings from various video games, anime, and a few other odd sources being ripped from their homeland and thrown into a new universe, simply called TheMultiverse. Many don't take this very well at first, however, over time, characters learn to adjust to their new homes and neighbors, and veterans are generally unfazed by the zanier parts of both magic and technology, regardless of their native home's surroundings. Despite its dips into rather depressing situations, it does have its sillier and more lighthearted moments.

* AbortedArc: Due to the nature of the RP, an arc can be dropped due to disinterest between players, someone switching out, or general inactivity. Tends to be averted nowadays with board-wide arcs, however.
%%* AerithAndBob: Justified, since the multiverse is the biggest melting pot in existence.
* AnachronismStew: What happens when you put Hyrule and Station Square within space- or magic-traveling distance of each other
%% * AlternateUniverse: Explains a few discrepancies between characters and their original counterparts.
%% * ApocalypseHow: A few times, but generally Class 0 or Class 1
%% * ArcWelding: The site as a whole generally does this a lot, due to its...convenient time-line.
* TheAtoner: Wylfred recognizes the errors of his past and is trying his best to make up for them, even though a part of him believes that his betrayals of Ancel and Fauxnel will always condemn him.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Leaders of factions are usually pretty strong.
* BarrierWarrior: Not exclusively, but Aqua's fully capable of generating fairly powerful barriers to protect herself, her allies, and is fairly handy with the Reflect spell.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Alteri is the most politely reserved Sith Lord one might ever meet, she wears a blindfold and walks around in pristine white robes. And temporarily joined the faction of often incredibly idealistic heroes with a small sprinkle of (at worst) Well Intentioned Extremists with a remarkably optimistic goal of bettering the multiverse with the power of science. Remaining on good term with them even after founding another faction with several other! ... She is a power hungry SocialDarwinist perfectly willing to lie cheat murder torture and steal to get her way. If necessary.
%% * BlandNameProduct: Flitter!
%% * BreakingTheFourthWall: Some characters do this often, such as Deadpool or Andrew Hussie.
* CharacterDevelopment:
** Initially starting off as a FailureHeroine for the first three or so stories, Roll gradually becomes a much better and more powerful heroine in her own right and she even got to win a good number of victories.
** While Bunny's boundless determination is still there, certain events are making her a bit more cautious and considerate towards others.
* CompanionCube: Ruby Rose treats all weapons very respectfully, but coddles her weapon, Crescent Rose, and calls it her sweetheart.
* CrapsaccharineWorld: Many people that were pure and innocent have been turned jaded, and many places like the Mushroom and BeanBean Kingdoms have been overrun by Insanity and Demons, respectively.
%% * CrossoverShip: Given the nature of the site, these are common.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Thanks to his strange pattern of speech (American English with Ye Olde English thrown in randomly), and adventurous attitude, Sparrow is often seen as a fool to others, especially his foes. However, he is powerful (for a Rank One) and has jumped inside an Infected Dragon's mouth to kill it from the inside, and successfully shot at Mephistopheles in free-fall.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Zee Tee's killed people via MindRape, warping their insides until it's liquid, breaking their arms and legs off, and... yeah, you get the idea.
* DarkestHour: NO had certainly gone through one, [[spoiler: with the destruction of their main HQ and the death of their leader, Sparrow before disbanding and the few remaining members sticking around as the Radiant Crusade.]]
* DeathIsCheap: The penalty for death is spending two weeks in a Diablo-based Netherrealm. And some of the areas in it are actually quite nice and peaceful.
%% * DeathMountain
* DefrostingIceKing: Very minor case with Hawke. In light of losing his power base and having to deal with normal people instead of complete maniacs, Smug Snakes, and warmongering bosses to get it back, he's being forced to interact socially to garner connections. Reisen and his soldiers are actively trying to encourage this, but it's unlikely to happen on a major scale.
* Determinator: Before Kotone came to the multiverse, her soul left her body but she refused to move on until graduation because she promised her friends she'd meet them on the roof of the school the day of it. She refused to die for an entire month because of this despite already technically being dead.
* DisabilityImmunity: Hina suffers from PowerIncontinence, cursing anyone who gets too close to her. Pyrrha, however, is unaffected, simply due to the fact she's so unlucky in the first place.
* DreamLand: The Multiversal Tea Association has access to The Hunter's Dream, which is a limbo-like world that doesn't seem to exist in reality.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Roll's efforts in never giving up in the face of hardship and torment that she had to go through have ultimately paid off with the reunion of her brother [=MegaMan=], finally able to be truly happy for the first time in a long time!
* EnemyMine: Wlyfred and Ailyth. One moment they are fighting to the death over the fact that Ailyth had played Wylfred like a fool during his RoaringRampageOfRevenge, the next moment they find themselves thrown into the multiverse together. While they both benefit from working with each other when Wylfred isn't bordering upon attacking her, it's a tentative arrangement as far as Wylfred is concerned. Of course, Ailyth has other ideas...
%% * EvenEvilHasStandards: An inevitability, with the alignment system.
%% * EvilTowerOfOminousness: Kefka's Tower before it was dismantled.
%% * FantasyKitchenSink
* FantasticRacism: SA-X despises AI robots with a passion. This has led to some intense rivalries.
* AFatherToHisMen: Derek is more than willing to take any bullet, spell, or sword meant for his men.
%% * FloatingContinent: Angel Island. The Mansion, which is the headquarters of the Multiversal Tea Association, also counts on a smaller scale.
%% * FishOutOfTemporalWater: Most everyone starts out this way.
%% * FoeRomanceSubtext: SA-X and Metal Sonic, Luxord and Florina, Ganondorf and Zelda...this trope is all over the place.
* FromNobodyToNightmare:
** The Noblesse Oblige's first act was to conquer the High Heavens to serve as their faction headquarters. Before that, no one had even heard of them as a group.
** Downplayed with Alteri. In her Canon, rose from being a lowly slave to one of the rulers of TheEmpire. In the multiverse she has been slowly but steadily amassing power towards her own ends and is currently arguably one of the more powerful characters on the board... Though there are still several who could go toe to toe or even CurbStomp her in a direct confrontation.
* GargleBlaster: Infected Mage is one hell of a drink... even Deadpool can't bring himself to drink more than five.
%% * GreenHillZone: Yep.
%% * HubLevel: The Moon serves as this, more specifically, the Tower of Twilight.
* IKnowWhatYouFear: As a living nightmare, Reala can probe the minds of sleeping victims to find out their greatest fears.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Happens often, especially with people like Frank West running around. The most infamous example is probably Michael Wilson using Amatarasu as a weapon.
-->Michael: SUCK ON MY...WOLF PUNCH!
%% * InevitableTournament: Some story arcs start with this.
* JavelinThrower: One of Kanfoe's martial skills is to wield an array of throwing spears. He can also make them explode.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Frank is both rude and inappropriate and has major trust issues with authority figures. He also happens to be good with kids, will risk his life to save strangers, and has a large distaste for sensationalist journalism that violates people's privacy.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Sparrow]] was killed during the assault on the NO HQ, and his player specifically stated that he was definitely dead.
* KnightOfCerebus: Several: The Crawler is a good example, as he was deliberately taken to kill some characters.
* LevelDrain: All characters suffer this upon entering the Multiverse.
-->"[The Multiversal Drain] takes away all of [a character's] power, but removes any limitations, turning everyone into an over the top Manga/OnePiece character."
* TheManBehindTheMan: Well woman in this case...or virus. While Alan is the more well known and obvious threat, Jenova is working behind the scenes with him. Considering what she plans to do to the multiverse, people are going to wish Alan was the worst problem.
%% * TheMultiverse
* Necromancer: Alteri is more traditional kind, in that she deals with spirits and ghosts rather than calling up undead monstrosities.
%% * NightmareFuelStationAttendant: The Crawler.
%% * NotAsYouKnowThem: Several characters, often due to character development.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: Like all characters, Alan was once just a lowly Rank 1 who was more a threat to the average purse. Even when he started to get more powerful he was always more an anti-villian what with helping out a against the Infected. After the Infected Invasion, however, and after he got back from Deep Space and he is suddenly the leader of one of the more powerful and dangerous factions, allied with another evil faction, working on allying with another, and is currently trashing the main mall of the entire multiverse. Not so harmless indeed.
* OmniscientDatabase: Tails possesses a very, very impressive one that has information on most, if not all, of the multiverse and it's denizens. And the multiverse is a BIG place.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Aribeth is still dead from the end of NWN/HOTU, but mostly corporeal due to Multiverse shenanigans, just with ghostly traits like extreme paleness, floating just above the ground, and being surrounded by a thin layer of fog.
* PsychicPowers: Since beginning Jedi training originally under Solidus, Aribeth's paladin abilities to DetectEvil and use magic have been expanded into Force sensitivity.
* ThePsychoRangers: Metal Sonic, Metal Tails and Metal Knuckles have formed a dark mirror of Team Sonic. Although, with only Tails a permanent character, they haven't had much chance to show it off.
%% * SchizoTech: Flintlocks and assault rifles and HumongousMecha, oh my!
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack:
** Even in combat, Sita fights in either her Vita school uniform, or the Garden uniform.
** Kotone tends to wear mostly her old Gekkoukan or new Garden uniform to battle.
* SeenItAll: Surviving more than one zombie infestation, travelling across the multiverse to write tabloids for the Shy Guys, and being middle aged has resulted in Frank really taking things in stride.
* SemiDivine: Kanfoe was born as a last-ditch measure to save patapons: a fusion of Kami (the player, who's perceived as a god) and Hero (who's actually mortal, just able to be Reborn infinitely).
* StealthPun: The Beowolves are Grimm. Using a scythe on them makes Ruby a Grimm Reaper.
* SuperSpeed: Ruby Rose can move so fast she can create powerful winds as a side-effect.
* TechnicalPacifist: Rachet dislikes fighting. Doesn't mean he won't when forced to.
* TookALevelInBadass: Recette and Alouette get this treatment:
** Recette started out as just the boss of the team and it's financer, only occasionally tossing out food. After a visit to Leonora's house, she began to learn White Magic.
** Alouette, after being humiliated by Avall, learned fencing. Before arriving in the Multiverse, she was even stronger than Louie.
* TheTower: The Tower of Twilight, which serves as the cultural capital of the entire multiverse.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Frank has a humanized Photo Finish as a partner. She's a rather serious and famous fashion photographer, Frank is an rugged, whacky photojournalist and possible cross dresser. It's impossible for them to not insult each other every now and again.
* WhamEpisode:
** Alan attacking the NO HQ, specifically targeting three of its big name members (all of whom he had been on amiable terms with previously) in order to create a name for his own new faction, killing [[spoiler:Sparrow]] in the process.
** The death of Gannondorf, which threw the long established Lords of Midnight into chaos and led to what was the essentially the death of the faction, with many members joining another faction or leaving, ending one of the most long-established factions in the RP's reign.
%% * WorldOfBadass: Even the TokenMiniMoe is a force to be reckoned with.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Pyrrha believes that if her secret is revealed to the world, she'll be hunted down and killed. In reality, the Multiverse has had more than one high-profile HeelFaceTurn, and she'd likely be accepted. Justified in that in her old world, she was right.

* AnnoyingArrows: Somewhat justified with the Multiversal Drain affecting the deadliness of most weapons.
* ArbitraryGunPower: Somewhat justified with the Multiversal Drain affecting the deadliness of most weapons.
* CharacterAlignment: In-universe example for general placement. Uses a number system instead of the usual format. Ranges from +5 (IncorruptiblePurePureness) to -5 (Complete Monster).
%% * CharacterLevel: Battle Levels serve as this.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: Monsters in quests do not have to abide by the same rules that the [=PCs=] do. A member of the Third Street Saints once had a move that can cast charm and player characters, which is a move that usually can only work on followers.
%% * CriticalExistenceFailure: Although played straight statistic wise, it's usually good manners to subvert this trope in character.
* DamageTyping: Attacks can be Melee, Ranged, Ballistic, or Spell-based. They can also have No-Type, if they don't fit into any of those categories.
* GameMaster: Moderators usually fall into this role, but some quests, called Personal Quests, don't require any Mods.
%% * GlobalAirship
%% * GlobalCurrency: "c" is this.
* GunsAreWorthless: A bullet will deal just as much as a knife or an axe or a fist for the exact same energy point cost.
%% * HitPoints
%% * InAndOutOfCharacter
%% * KarlMarxHatesYourGuts
* LoadsAndLoadsOfRules: A little more than your standard RP, but justified due to the complex stat system, and is nowhere near as bad as a TabletopGame.
* Mana: Labeled as Energy Points, and can be used for anything from magic spells to martial arts skills to aiming for different body parts.
%% * MoneySpider: Sometimes, although occasionally subverted.
* OneSizeFitsAll: Equipment bought for one character will easily fit another.
%% * PlayByPostGame
* PointBuySystem: You can use c to buy new attacks, or improve attack damage, or increase your vitals.
%% * StatusEffect: Many make their rounds under different names.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: In-universe case: numerous system changes caused a failed revolt from a select few of the older members.
* WalletOfHolding Considering there isn't a single universal currency (Most collectively call it "c"), most people are carrying several different kinds, from paper to jewels to coins.
%% * WebcomicTime: With the occasional LampshadeHanging for good measure.
