Context Redundancy / Toys

Go To

1* "BJD Dolls" or otherwise, "Ball Jointed Dolls Dolls". This is mostly because [[AccidentalInnuendo you can't call them "BJ Dolls"]].
2* The Le-Matoran in ''Toys/{{Bionicle}}'' use a bizarre dialect known as treespeak, which heavily involves redundancy, resulting in an unpleasant, cacophonous effect for most non-speakers. An often used term is "Toa-Hero", which is redundant as the word "Toa" apparently means "hero" in the Matoran language. Several Le-Matoran slang terms are like this, such as Crash-Wreck, Far-Distance, Fear-Dread, Huge-Big, etc. At one point, Kongu also points out that "Vezon" is the Matoran word for "copy". This is useful to the reader, however, Kongu and his friends are all ''[[TranslationConvention speaking the Matoran language,]]'' so that statement would have seemed completely [[CaptainObvious useless]] to the people he was speaking to.
3** However, there have been uses of "Toa-Villain" as well.
4** Not to mention Kanohi masks, Kanoka disks and the Great Spirit Mata Nui, which are just the same things said twice.
5* ''Toys/{{Bionicle 2015}}'' had Umarak the Hunter. The word Umarak was stated to mean Shadow Hunter, making his full name Shadow Hunter the Hunter. At least his title was later changed to "the Destroyer".
6* On the back of the packaging for Ratchet's toy from the ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' series, Ratchet is listed as "[[http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lyfxckTC541r0k4bco1_400.jpg Autobot Ratchet (Autobot)]]". This is quite common among a certain class of Transformer names, as those Transformer names cannot be trademarked by the maker of Transformers, Hasbro, so Hasbro adds the faction designation, in this case, Autobot or Decepticon, to the name of that Transformer, so it is trademarkable. Examples include Autobot Jazz, Decepticon Brawl, and Autobot Ratchet. If any of those characters show up in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'', they will likely have packaging declaring "Autobot Jazz (Autobot)", "Decepticon Brawl (Decepticon)", or "Autobot Ratchet (Autobot)".
