Prince Gregor of Karovnia (Guy Stockwell) is on his way to New Petersburg with his family. West and Gordon are tasked with making sure the royal party arrives safely, since a gang led by Count Balkovitch (John Van Dreelen) is determined to see the royals dead in order to prevent the establishment of peace in their mutual homeland. Balkovitch also hopes to steal the sacred Icon of New Karovnograd, which is concealed in New Petersburg; the residents get wind of this and begin leaving town in droves, while cowardly Sheriff Corby (Norman Leavitt) refuses to get involved in any shooting. When Princess Lina (Jennifer Douglas) is kidnapped shortly afterward, it becomes apparent that there's a traitor within the royal party. The agents must find the traitor, recover the princess and ensure that the icon doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

!!Tropes present in this episode:
* BaldOfEvil[=/=]GoateeOfEvil: Balkovitch combines these with a topknot that's not quite a SamuraiPonytail.
* DamselInDistress: Princess Lina becomes one when Balkovitch kidnaps her.
* DefrostingIceQueen: At first, Lina disapproves of Maria (Alizia Gur), the servant girl whom Gregor hopes to marry, but she gives them her blessing at the end.
* DirtyCoward: Sheriff Corby combines this with ObstructiveBureaucrat. He makes it clear he's more comfortable "hauling in drunks and light-fingered Charlies" than dealing with the Karovnians who threaten his town, so he plans to ignore the violent foreigners as best he can until they leave. He refuses to cooperate with Artie, but tells him that at least he won't help Balkovitch either. At the end, he shows up to arrest Balkovitch's gang after Jim and Artie have defeated them because "I always go with a hot hand."
* EvilLaugh: Balkovitch and his {{Mooks}} share one at the end of the ColdOpen.
* FictionalCountry: Karovnia, whose [[UsefulNotes/{{Russia}} Russia-like]] culture places it somewhere in eastern UsefulNotes/{{Europe}}.
* IHaveYourWife: Balkovitch does this twice. First he threatens Lina with Gregor's life unless she gives him the icon, then he kidnaps Lina and tells Gregor he'll exchange her for the icon.
* TheMole: Duchess Sophia (Nina Foch), who's working with Balkovitch because she'll lose power if Prince Gregor ever takes the throne.
* {{Omniglot}}: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]]. Artie can speak Russian but can't read it, so he needs someone to translate the note that was used to lure Princess Lina to her abduction. A priest in New Petersburg eventually does the honors.
* PrettyInMink: The Karovnians, especially Princess Lina, love their furs.
* {{Ruritania}}: From what we hear of it, Karovnia seems to be this.
* ScreamingWarrior: One of Balkovitch's men lets out a lusty yell while attacking West.
* StockFootage: A truly shameless example here, as Jim's predicament at the end of act 2/beginning of act 3 is lifted from season 3's "[[Recap/TheWildWildWestS3E16TheNightOfTheArrow The Night of the Arrow]]", albeit with [[CuteButPsycho Aimee Baldwin]] and her "this little piggy" routine cut out.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Balkovitch tells her Prince Gregor that they should combine their forces, which would be achieved by his marrying Princess Lina. Gregor almost backhands him before Jim intervenes.
