As the conquest of Umbara continues, General Krell and the 501[-[[superscript:st]]-] are charged with taking a heavily fortified airbase that's supplying weapons to the capital. But Krell, reckless as always, orders Captain Rex and his men on a plan of attack that is certain to produce heavy casualties... and the Umbarans' dangerous heavy tanks won't go down without ''extremely'' heavy weaponry. It is an almost certain suicide mission, unless the clones can use their ingenuity to defeat their new enemy.

* BittersweetEnding: The 501st Legion wins the day and captures the Umbaran air base, but Rex and Fives are disheartened by how many men died in the process. Krell makes it worse, coldly dismissing the casualties as a natural consequence of war.
* CallForward: Hardcase "prefers a straight fight to all this sneakin' around", just like Han Solo will do in ''Film/ANewHope''.
* TheCavalry: As the troopers are cornered and about to be overrun by the Umbaran tanks, Fives and Hardcase arrive in the hijacked Umbaran starfighters and take out the tanks.
* CharacterTitle: The title refers to General Krell.
* CurbStompBattle: The Umbaran juggernauts versus the clones; nothing the clones have on them can so much as stagger the tanks, and the juggernauts' powerful weapons take a terrible toll among them. This episode has one of the highest body counts in the entire series.
* EldritchStarship: Downplayed. The Umbarans' starfighters are very different from the airplane-like configurations of typical fighters, consisting of a loose, open framework and of a pilot seat that sits exposed to the elements when the ship is inactive and, on activation, becomes enveloped in a free-floating energy sphere whose controls manifest as holograms on its internal surface.
* FistOfRage: Rex clenches his fist at the end in response to Krell claiming that the massive casualties were necessary and that maybe someday he would realize this.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The close-up shot of Krell near the end zooms in on his yellow eyes reflected in the flames, foreshadowing that he's actually fallen to the Dark Side.
* GunshipRescue: Fives and Hardcase sneak into the base and commandeer two enemy fighters to take down the juggernauts, which none of the clones' weaponry can harm.
* HollywoodTactics: This is called out in-universe, when the clone troopers discuss how to approach the Umbaran base. They are outraged by the fact that they have no recon, air support, or heavy armor to lead the advance and only have basic infantry with grenades, and that they've been ordered to march through a narrow ravine where they can be easily ambushed and bottlenecked. Predictably, they end up decimated by the Umbarans' counterattack.
* TheJuggernaut: The Umbarans' heavy tanks are literally called this, and they live up to the name. Only other Umbaran weapons can stop them.
* MoreDakka: The Umbaran [[SpiderTank centipede-like tanks]] are ''covered'' in laser turrets.
* NotSoSimilar: When the clone troopers are arguing about Krell's plans, Rex tries to convince them that Anakin's plans are often successful despite seeming reckless. Fives counters that Anakin leads his men in the {{front|lineGeneral}}, so he's ''with'' them when they take those risks, while Krell chooses not to fight alongside his clone troopers.
* SpiderTank: The Umbaran send out burrowing caterpillar tanks and spider-like, four-legged juggernauts against the clones.
* VehicularTurnabout: Rex has Fives and Hardcase steal Umbaran fighters to destroy the Umbaran juggernauts.
* WeNeedADistraction: Sneaking onto the airbase, Fives rigs up a tree that he and Hardcase use to get over the sensor wall with explosives, before detonating it once the two of them are well into the base. This causes most of the Umbaran soldiers to head in the direction of the explosion, allowing the two clone troopers to steal starfighters before anyone can notice.
* WhatTheHellHero: When Rex orders Kix to leave some wounded clone troopers behind (because as the medic, they can't afford to lose him), he retorts that "You sound like General Krell." Rex stops dead when he hears that and comes up with a plan to deal with the tanks that will hopefully reduce any further casualties moments later.
