->''Believe in yourself or no one else will.''

Utilizing the opportunity granted by the clone army being stretched too thin, Geonosis rebels, and under the leadership of Poggle the Lesser, the planets' inhabitants restart the mass production of battle droids in their factories. Jedi Generals Ki-Adi Mundi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and his Padawan Ahsoka lead the attack to capture the main factory and catch Poggle the Lesser in order to prevent Geonosis from rebelling again.

But this time, the Geonosians are ready for them and the Jedi are soon separated across the battlefront. The three parties must fight their way back to each other to complete their mission.

!!Tropes:

* BackToBackBadasses: Anakin and Ahsoka stand back-to-back to fend off the blasterfire from a pair of droidekas atop the fortress wall.
* BigBadassBattleSequence: This episode features one of the biggest battles in the series (up to that point, anyways), with the appropriate violence and body count to match.
* BodyCountCompetition: Anakin and Ahsoka apparently had [[OffScreenMomentOfAwesome one just prior to the episode]], in which Anakin won. They also have one during the episode, which Ahsoka wins, but Anakin argues it was a tie, since he called the airstrike. As it turns out, Ki-Adi had more kills than either of them; he seems disappointed there was nothing more at stake than bragging rights.
* BulletproofFashionPlate: One of the few times in the series when this is completely averted. All four of the Jedi are at least covered in dirt. Ki-Adi is obviously hurt but doesn't seem too injured, while Obi-Wan, in addition to a few wounds on his face, is wounded to the point where he can barely walk and spends most of the episode sitting down.
* CallBack: Obi-Wan tells Cody about the time he was ChainedToARock back in ''Film/AttackOfTheClones''.
* TheCameo: Master Luminara has one during the briefing at the start of the episode.
* CasualDangerDialogue: Plenty of characters have semi-casual conversations while in the middle of battle, though Waxer and Boil complaining about always being given the "interesting" jobs while they cross an empty battlefield to reach Kenobi's downed ship, and how the "fun" part is going to be trying to bring the wounded ''back'' over the same stretch of unprotected ground, takes the cake.
* CasualHighDrop: Anakin and Ahsoka jump off the eastern barrier wall after blowing it up... after telekinetically throwing Rex off the wall without forewarning him, so they have to catch him with the Force after they land.
* ChameleonCamouflage: The members of the 212[-[[superscript:th]]-] on this mission have added dots and geometric shapes in the dusty tans and oranges of the Geonosis desert they are to be fighting in to their armor (except for Commander Cody, for some reason).
* ComingInHot: Several gunships crash land after being badly shot, most notably the one carrying Obi-Wan, which crashes more than lands and kills nearly everyone onboard, with the two survivors being seriously injured. The one carrying Anakin and Ahsoka impacts at a lower speed with everyone on board surviving the sliding landing.
* ContinuityNod: Waxer has [[HeartwarmingOrphan Numa]]'s (the little Twi'lek girl he meets in "[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS1E20InnocentsOfRyloth Innocents of Ryloth]]") face painted on his helmet.
* DarkestHour: At the end of the episode's second act, Anakin and Ahsoka are being overwhelmed by the Separatist droids on the top of the wall, Ki-Adi-Mundi's clone troopers are being slowed by the Geonosians in the tunnel that's supposed to be a shortcut to the landing zone, and Obi-Wan and Commander Cody's forces are being overrun by the Geonosians at the landing zone.
* DeflectorShields:
** The main droid factory is protected by a large ray shield Anakin has to take down.
** Anakin and Rex each take down a droideka by getting their arm through the droid's personal ray shield before activating their weapon.
* DodgeTheBullet: Ki-Adi visibly twitches to the side of a number of shots he doesn't parry back at the Geonosians in the cave.
* FamilyUnfriendlyViolence: Throughout the episode, scores of clone troopers die when they're shot down alongside their transports during the landing, killed during the fighting itself or kidnapped by Geonosians to unknown fates, while the Geonosians themselves die left and right to clone trooper fire, are carved up by Jedi lightsabers and are burned alive by flamethrowers. This episode quite possibly has the highest body count in the entirety of ''The Clone Wars''. "[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS4E7DarknessOnUmbara Darkness on Umbara]]", "[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS4E8TheGeneral The General]]", "[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS4E10CarnageOfKrell Carnage of Krell]]" and "[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS4E19Massacre Massacre]]" are its only competition. At least until the series was {{Uncanceled}}, after which "[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS7E12VictoryAndDeath Victory and Death]]" joins the list.
* FireBreathingWeapon: Ki-Adi has his flametroopers use flamethrowers on the Geonosians attacking them in the caves. It turns out to be a very effective tactic as the Geonosians flee in terror and pain before them.
* GameBreakingInjury: Obi-Wan's gunship gets shot down, with only he and Trapper surviving long enough to be pulled from the wreckage. He spends the rest of the episode sitting against some crates while trying to help his men with strategy and communications. The only time he gets up on his own after being injured is when the landing zone is about to be overrun, and he does so with visible difficulty and pain with the implication he's tapping into the Force to allow himself to fight alongside his men, and he lowers himself back down as soon as reinforcements arrive.
* GrinOfAudacity: Obi-Wan's group is the only one to reach the landing zone ''mostly'' as intended, though with far higher casualties. As they're holding the LZ against superior numbers, outgunned and surrounded, when Cody finally has a minute to talk to his general after Waxer and Boil were able to pull Obi-Wan from the remains of his gunship Obi-Wan assures Cody that Generals Skywalker and Mundi will make it there and they just need to try to still be alive when they arrive, with a little lopsided grin.
* HighAltitudeBattle: The three generals on the ground the episode follows are not the only ones involved in the planetary scale invasion, and Admiral Yularen is shown to be holding his own fight to protect his flagship from fighters high in the atmosphere, explaining why air support is mostly unavailable.
* HoldingYourShoulderMeansInjury: Characters don't hold their shoulders in this episode, but all injured characters -- Obi-Wan, Trapper and Ki-Adi -- reach across their torsos to hold their sides, in all cases implied to be due to internal injuries from bad landings.
* ImOkay: Obi-Wan tells several characters he's not seriously hurt after being injured, though in context he seems to be saying he's not dying and that others need medical aid before him as he makes no attempt to convince anyone he's not actually injured.
* IronicLastWords: One trooper's last words before the gunship he's riding in is shot out of the sky by the Geonosians is a cheerful "Good things those bugs can't aim!"
* JustInTime: Just as Obi-Wan's forces are about to be overrun completely, a bomber squadron swoops down and decimates the enemy forces.
* KillItWithFire: This is Ki-Adi's method of dealing with Geonosians. And because [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman they're not human]], we get to watch them burn to death.
* LastStand: Obi-Wan is quite aware that his outnumbered and outgunned men's surrounded position may turn into a fight to take as many Geonosians down with them as possible, and right before reinforcements arrive he forces himself to his feet with lightsaber in hand to join his men in a hopeless fight when they're about to be overrun.
* ManOnFire: The Geonosians set alight by flamethrowers do not die instantly and are shown fleeing and dying before Ki-Adi and the group exit the caves. The horrific spectacle of the burning Geonosians falling out of the sky and crawling from the caves is what alerts Anakin to Ki-Adi's position right before the Republic forces exit.
* TheMedic: The medic at the landing zone is incredibly busy due to the fact that the Geonosians were waiting for them and shot down most of their ships, and then just kept shooting. Even though his general is badly injured he isn't shown to have enough time to do more than give him a quick painkiller before moving on to more badly wounded soldiers.
* MercyKill: When Ki-Adi and the clones exit the caves after clearing off a Geonosian blockade with flamethrowers, some troopers are seen using their blasters to put a number of burning, still-living Geonosians out of their misery.
* MissionBriefing: There's one at the beginning to explain the attack plan.
* NoseArt: Several of the gunships are customized with logos and figures, including one with a stylized [[PantheraAwesome Nexu]] riding a bomb called ''Bad Kitty'' and one with a red outlined clone trooper's helmet stylized to bring a skull to mind called ''Separatist Nightmare''. Other painted gunships in the episode include ''I Come in Peace'', ''Grim Reaper'' and ''Spaceward Ho!''
* NotSoAboveItAll: Ki-Adi Mundi, usually seen as one of the more staid members of the Jedi Council, jokes that ''he'' had more kills than either Anakin or Ahsoka and their competition, and then casually asks what he's won.
-->'''Anakin Skywalker:''' My everlasting respect, Master Mundi..
* OhNoNotAgain: Ahsoka says "This is another fine mess you've gotten us into" when Anakin leads their group right to the formidable wall fortress he's previously assured her they wouldn't be going anywhere near, though in his defense they were shot down far from where they were meant to land and lost all of their tanks, which he did not anticipate.
* OutrunTheFireball: Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex jump (in the latter's case, gets thrown) off the wall in order to avoid being blown up with it.
* ParryingBullets: Ki-Adi, Anakin, and Ahsoka deflect blaster fire in front of their clone troopers to protect themselves and give cover to their men. Obi-Wan is too injured and his men's position too wide to do the same, though he does get up to do so when their position is about to be overrun.
* PinnedDown: Anakin's detachment of the 501[-[[superscript:st]]-] gets pinned down and unable to move from cover when they try to pass the fortress wall. Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex have to ascend the cliff wall from a hidden spot and take out the wall before the 501[-[[superscript:st]]-] can move.
* SelfDeprecation: When Cody hesitantly says that the Geonosians trying to kill Obi-Wan with monsters must have been entertaining, Obi-Wan replies that it was, for them.
* ShoutOut: The invasion is largely based on the [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarII D-Day invasion of Normandy]], with visual cues taken from ''Film/SavingPrivateRyan'' and ''Film/TheLongestDay''.
* SoleSurvivor: Obi-Wan and Trapper are ultimately the only two survivors of their gunship being shot down, though Obi-Wan's line when rescued from the wreck by Waxer and Boil makes it clear there were others to survive the initial crash, only to die of their injuries before the 212[-[[superscript:th]]-] could send anyone to pull survivors out.
* StandYourGround: As Obi-Wan's 212[-[[superscript:th]]-] is the only group to actually arrive at the landing zone on time and has no good way to retreat anyway, their mission is to simply hold their ground against the overwhelming forces they find waiting for them there, with the hopes that the other two generals will arrive and turn the tide before they're wiped out.
* StuffBlowingUp: Anakin and Ahsoka toss a couple of backpacks full of explosives into the fortress wall, and then shove it further in with the Force before setting it off. This results in the almost complete destruction of the wall and the utter destruction of its defenses in a large explosion.
* TemptingFate:
** When Ahsoka points out a giant wall covered with gun emplacements on the holomap during the briefing at the beginning, Anakin tells her not to worry about it because they won't be going anywhere near it. Sure enough, Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex do end up having to deal with the wall.
** A clone trooper, just before the gunship he's traveling in is shot down: "Good thing those bugs can't aim."
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Waxer and Boil once again regret being considered among the best in Ghost Company, when they're asked to cross the battlefield to see if there are any survivors on Obi-Wan's ship.
* TrackingShot: Anakin is followed without breaks as he runs through the shield and close enough to the generator to find cover and start the attack.
* TrickBomb: Anakin and Ahsoka use droid poppers to disable the Geonosians' scanners during the final assault on the shield generator to allow their own tanks a clear shot.
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: Cody explains the attack strategy in advance. Nothing goes accordingly.
* VariableTerminalVelocity: Averted. When Anakin and Ahsoka throw Rex off the eastern barrier wall before jumping down and catching him with the Force, they specifically throw him ''up'' so that when they jump, they'll reach the ground first so they can catch him.
* VerticalKidnapping: When Ki-Adi's group starts making their way through the cave, Geonosians dive in and grab a couple of his troopers and then fly off to carry them to their presumed deaths away from the rest of the group so that they cannot be rescued. At least one of Anakin's clone troopers in the final assault is also nabbed and flown away by a Geonosian.
* WarIsHell: While multiple characters crack jokes to stave off the tragedy surrounding them, everyone in this episode is beaten down by the war and many are killed or wounded.
* WheresTheFunInThat: Without warning, Anakin and Ahsoka use the Force to drop Rex off the high wall they're about to blow up, before jumping down and catching him before he hits the ground.
-->'''Rex:''' Next time, just tell me to jump.\
'''Anakin:''' Now where's the fun in that?
* WorstAid: Obi-Wan gets moved around by having his arm slung over someone's shoulders and then being helped to walk by being almost dragged, which is not a good way to get someone with a potential spinal injury around. The first time is excusable as he was being pulled from a dangerous position on the battlefield, but there's less excuse for him being moved this way when being evacuated for medical care.
* ZergRush: The Geonosians in the cave try to take on Ki-Adi by rushing him with their superior numbers. This does not work well against a Jedi backed by troopers carrying flamethrowers, and while they kill a few of Ki-Adi's men the Geonosians are slaughtered.
