Benson has to try and control his temper if he wants to save his job. But holding it in may do more harm than good...
----
!!"Think Positive" contains examples of:
* BreathWeapon: Benson finally releasing his pent up anger, as a scathing rant, channels a massive beam of pure rage through his mouth.
* BorrowedCatchphrase: At the climax, Pops makes use of Benson's "You're fired!" line when he tells him to yell at Mordecai and Rigby.
* BigNo: Benson, when he's fired by Pops during the dream sequence.
* BurningWithAnger: Exaggerated; Benson suppressing his anger starts making him literally steam as he burns patches into the lawn just from walking. When he reaches a fever pitch witnessing Mordecai and Rigby crashing the cart, we're given an internal shot of all his gumballs igniting. Then he starts levitating, surrounded by a beaming corona, drawing in chunks of his surroundings that get obliterated on contact, essentially becoming like a ''miniature star'' from all his repressed rage.
* CallBack: When finally allowed to unload, some of Benson's statements include '''''"[[Recap/RegularShowS02Ep15TempCheck YOU WOULDN'T KNOW A JOB WELL DONE IF YOU PAID SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU]]"''''' and '''''"[[Recap/RegularShowS03Ep07CoolBikes WORRYING MORE ABOUT LOOKING COOL THAN DOING YOUR JOB!!!!]]"''''', which are the plots of ''[[Recap/RegularShowS02Ep15TempCheck Temp Check]]", and "[[Recap/RegularShowS03Ep07CoolBikes Cool Bikes]]" respectively.
* ChunkyUpdraft: Benson's repression not only generates heat, but also [[GravitySucks a gravity well]] that rips debris up from his surroundings into it. It gradually expands to bigger and bigger things, pulling in the cart and eventually Muscle Man's trailer.
* ADayInTheLimelight: A proper one for Benson.
* DumbassHasAPoint:
** While ordering Benson to withdraw from yelling had dire repercussions, Pops is somewhat justified in wanting Benson to control his temper since his yelling can be considered a nuisance.
** This also applies to Mordecai and Rigby near the episode’s end as they tell Pops that Benson has to yell at them in order to save the park.
* DysfunctionalFamily: As it turns out, Benson has one. Downplayed in that they're not horribly abusive to him, but they do teach him to be angry and yell a lot to get what he wants out of life, which isn't exactly considered polite or socially acceptable.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: After Benson is done yelling, he, Skips, and Pops end the episode laughing after Benson once again tells Mordecai and Rigby to clean up this mess. Mordecai and Rigby don't laugh, mostly because they've been deafened and don't know what's so funny.
* FreudianExcuse: Benson's constant anger is established in this episode to be a byproduct of his family life as a kid, as his father taught him that rather than just being assertive, you have to be angry to get what you want in life. Benson is even shown to have been meek prior to being taught this.
* IdiotBall: There's really no other explanation for how Mordecai and Rigby go out of their way to mess up their jobs.
* ItsAllMyFault: Pops loudly announces it was his fault Benson turned into a raging black hole that is sucking up the park.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Mordecai and Rigby are left completely deaf after Benson yells at them hard enough to put them in a crater.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Pops realizes his mistake after Benson almost disintegrates the whole park.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Mordecai and Rigby try getting Benson to yell at them to end his black hole phase by admitting to deliberately messing with him such as prank pizza deliveries, replacing his coffee with detergent, and just [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking petty insults]]. It only makes Benson angrier and he remains silent.
* NoIndoorVoice: Benson holds absolutely ''no'' punches during his epic rant. Apparently, this made Sam Marin (his voice actor) lose his voice.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Pops could have just told Benson that his yelling was disturbing him and to tone it down instead of just ordering him to quit yelling altogether.
* RageBreakingPoint: Hooooo boy, does Benson EVER tear Mordecai and Rigby a new one...
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Benson delivers a big one when he's yelling at Mordecai and Rigby after Pops told him to.
-->'''Benson: YOU LAZY, NO-GOOD SLACKERS DRIVE ME NUTS! CAN'T YOU JUST LISTEN TO ME ONCE IN YOUR WORTHLESS LIVES?! 'CAUSE IF YOU DID, YOU'D SEE I'M TRYING TO TEACH YOU SOME SIMPLE RESPONSIBILITY, SOME PRIDE IN DOING A JOB WELL DONE! BUT YOU WOULDN'T ''KNOW'' A JOB WELL DONE IF YOU ''PAID'' SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU, AND EVEN THEN YOU'D SCREW IT ALL UP ON THE ACCOUNT THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN FOLLOW THE SIMPLEST OF INSTRUCTIONS, WORRYING MORE ABOUT LOOKING COOL THAN DOING YOUR JOB!'''
* SelectiveEnforcement: Pops punishes Benson for yelling, completely ignoring the reasons why he was yelling at Mordecai and Rigby, namely their feeding roses Benson's diet soda because they were too lazy to get the hose, wiping down the cart with sandpaper, and speeding the cart while driving blindfolded.
* ShellShockSilence: After Benson finally unleashes his pent-up rage on them, Mordecai and Rigby are left lying in a crater, unable to hear anything.
* StrawLoser: Mordecai and Rigby are portrayed as being [[{{Flanderization}} especially]] incompetent and reckless in order to make Benson sympathetic.
* TemporarilyExaggeratedTrait: Mordecai and Rigby are a lot more lazy and stupid than usual in this episode, where they are straight up oblivious to the stress they are causing Benson.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Pops as he forces Benson to bottle up his entire anger or else he'll fire him.
