* ''Music/ThirtySecondsToMars''
** The song "The Kill" is creepy. The video, which is a homage to ''Film/TheShining'', is even creepier.
** 30 Seconds to Mars also accomplishes some NightmareFuel in "From Yesterday", basically by dressing a large dose of WTF in imperial Chinese clothing.
** "Attack" also qualifies. Scribbled-out eyes and flickering imagery? Check. Eerie space to perform in? Also check.
* Music/{{AFI}}:
** "Love Like Winter", which is a very happy song by AFI standards, is pretty freaky in video form because the band are all chasing this extremely hot girl through a frozen forest, freezing every member of the band to death until only the singer is left. Then he finds the girl, who is actually evil, and is pushed into the frozen water to drown.
** Then "He Who Laughs Last" in which the singer is stabbed to death in the back of a car.
** And "Silver And Cold" where the same singer is standing on the railing of a bridge, with intent to jump. He calls his bandmates to say goodbye, and of course they immediately hop in the car and drive to the rescue. The video ends with a car crash that kills them all instantly. The singer decides not to commit suicide, leaving the viewer to decide his true intent.
** "Girl's Not Grey" where this girl follows some creepy, giant moving plushie rabbit into the guitarist's freaking crotch, which brings them both into this incredibly surreal pink world where said girl follows the creepy rabbit and ends up on a hill, watching the band play the song, then is abandoned by the rabbit and is basically killed by freaking flower petals, leaving her shoes behind in the grass! Then we cut back to the alleyway and pretty much the same exact flower petals come bursting out of the singer's chest as his sings the last part.
** "Beautiful Thieves" has the band attending a swanky party at a big house, all the while singing about how they're so classy and awesome they'll get away with a crime----then at one point the vocalist pours something out of a flask labelled with the Latin word for 'poison' into the punch bowl. By the end of the song, all the guests save the band are lying dead.
* Music/TheAlanParsonsProject: "Prime Time" is not a particularly frightening song in and of itself, and actually rather soothing to certain people, but the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6NNJq0FZN4 music video]] is just plain disturbing. What start as store mannequins descends rather quickly into some serious UncannyValley territory.
* Music/AliceInChains:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKHUwfFb2lw "Get Born Again"]]: a withered mad scientist assisted by a strange sexy red-eyed female robot creates a human inside his lab. Said human ages rapidly until ultimately being destroyed by the fembot, much to the scientist's delight.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAqZb52sgpU Man in the Box]]: A man crouches in a tiny stall, the kind used to keep animals. As the video progresses, ropes, wires, and fencing begin to cover him as well as the footage of the band members. In the final shot, the man is finally free from the barn, but when he pulls back his hood his eyes have been sewn shut.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTuD8k3JvxQ Them Bones]]: The band seems to be playing in a dim muddy cave lit mostly by brief lightning flashes. There is a large pool of a bubbling, splashing liquid in the middle. Intentionally distressing images such as vultures picking at a carcass flash across the pool's surface, distorted by liquid's surface. Trash is thrown into and piles up in this distorted nightmare pool.
** The music video for "Your Decision" is about Cannibals.
** Related to Alice In Chains: "Leave Me Alone", the single by Jerry Cantrell. It can be considered to be pretty creepy considering it's from ''Film/TheCableGuy'' and has a shot of Jim Carrey's character grinning evilly at the end.
** The Music Video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0_2Wq9Aos4 The Devil Puts Dinosaurs Here]]" revolves around a [[SubvertedKidsShow very creepy kids show]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sH7D8UmMKI Lesson Learned]]. One could be forgiven for thinking this was a slightly tamer Music/{{Tool}} video. (Warning: NSFW)
* Music/AlienAntFarm's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHPhh1WswpU unreleased video for "Movies"]] [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments never loses its comedic edge]], but it is still unnerving. The video consists of band members fantasizing about getting with a girl at a party, only to be cut off by the fantasy going nightmarish. The first fantasy is cut off by the woman's tongue growing in length, and the second fantasy has [[PrehensileHair a woman trapping a man with her hair]]. Fortunately, the third fantasy only consists of a woman with ugly tattoos getting kicked out of a car and chasing it, but the last fantasy takes it back home with a woman with Medusa hair.
* Music/AliProject: "Waga Routashi Aku no Hana". It gets more than a little unsettling at times. While keeping men as pets and implied cannibalism are indeed creepy, don't forget the sacrificed dog men in the "Seishoujou Ryouiki PV" or the crucified guy in "Boukoku Kakusei Catharsis." Note that a man gets strapped to a table in all three of these videos.
* Tori Amos: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_C23JCduok "A Sorta Fairytale"]] features a shoe at the beginning that then hops away. You then realize it's Amos's head attached to a disembodied leg, who falls in love with Adrien Brody's head attached to a disembodied arm!
* Music/AnimalCollective: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTbd0Ncsyus "Who Could Win a Rabbit"]] features a version of Literature/TheTortoiseAndTheHare involving UncannyValley animal costumes, but the creepiest part is how it ends with [[spoiler: the tortoise eating the remains of the hare]].
* Music/{{Angelspit}}:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY14M3ufW10 Vena Cava]]". Without explanations, the sheer craziness is enough to scare the hell out of you... and ''with'' explanations, it's enough to give you nightmares...
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68r6jrjzrbQ Toxic Girl]]": As summed up by two fans:
--> '''Fan 1''': ''What the fuck did I just watch?''
--> '''Fan 2''': You watched a music video in which three people buy a sex doll, use it and are supernaturally compelled by the evil sex doll to kill themselves in a variety of vivid and interesting ways. That's what you watched.
* Music/AphexTwin has more than a few:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ827lkktYs Come to Daddy]] -- elderly lady is harassed by children, each one of their faces replaced by the identical grinning visage of Richard D. James' snotty ginger mug, whilst another distorted version of his face howls from a nearby TV about how he wants your soul. It gets worse from then on in.
** [[http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2fmo1Sjn7dg Windowlicker]] -- A bizarre play on gangster rap imagery that pairs a seductive Aphex Twin with legions of women, each with the artist's face pasted over theirs, culminating in a weirdly climactic dance number on the beach. The first few minutes of the full-length video hold some kind of record for profanity density.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDp8rNtxtBE Rubber Johnny]] -- more disturbing than the first two put together. Think ''Film/{{Eraserhead}}'' set to a rave track.
** And then, there's also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwe10iDlFQo "Vordhosbn"]].
*** Alternate video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-ns5YKbes0 ''Vordhosbn'']], which is unsettling in a different way.
* Music/{{Anthrax}}:
** The video of [[https://youtu.be/FI83RFPXw5s "What Doesn't Die"]] has the band in fighting a ZombieApocalypse, with Rob Caggiano's screaming guitars and John Bush's singing adding to the foreboding atmosphere.
*** "A stream of consciousness flows into a river of blood...stem this tide of violence...as it rises like a flood..."
** The lyric videos of [[https://youtu.be/xPmLkF3e6Fc "Evil Twin"]] and [[https://youtu.be/T1_HKsoql1Y "Zero Tolerance"]] are hard and grim reminders of the atrocities committed throughout history in the name of ideology.
** The video to [[https://youtu.be/LuLvfm5yDlw "Blood Eagle Wings"]]. '''''ABSOLUTELY''''' [[NotSafeForWork NSFW]]. Brutal doesn't even ''begin'' to describe it!
* Asaki majorly provides songs for [[VideoGame/{{Bemani}} BEMANI]] rhythm games, but if he also happens to provide a song for any of their games with music videos (such as ''[=BeatmaniaIIDX=]'' or ''Gitadora'')...expect NightmareFuel to commence.
** In earlier versions of ''GITADORA'', "Neji no Hito"'s BGA was this [[https://youtu.be/77T_C8Ijrq0 "spectacular" video]] that features [[SarcasmMode pleasant sights]] such as a teddy bear carrying a presumably crippled man in a wheelchair, followed by the same man making a SlasherSmile, bathing on a tub of apples with the teddy bear as his head wobbles sideways, rapidly, the bear being stepped upon and revived into a monstrosity by a girl in gas mask dropping some green chemicals on the bear..among other things that ''have'' to be seen to be believed. Thankfully, it's removed from newer arcade installations.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVsTRMH3DH8 Tsuminagara...tokanojohaiu]]'s" MV is a creepy Japanese doll with black, blank eyes wobbling around in an uncanny fashion.
** 5 seconds into "[[https://youtu.be/S1u8NLp9QjQ Kigenshu]]" and you will be met immediately with a jumpscare of a clay model of a woman coming out from the mouth of a boar. The rest of the video, made out of the same clay models, is no less creepy and its story consists of some Japanese Ama revering a sea god (the aforementioned boar) only to be mass slaughtered in return. You can still play this song on a console port of ''IIDX 14 GOLD'', but it's removed from newer arcade versions.
* Author & Punisher: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjlBOPLWZyw The video]] for "Terrorbird" features the title creature making a [[BrownNote deadly sound]]. The sight of those people vomitting blood as they try to escape the monster in particular makes this video feel like a horror film. The lack of color to the whole thing doesn't help.
* Music/AvengedSevenfold:
** "A Little Piece of Heaven" [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VurhzANQ_B0 really has to be seen to be believed]]...and good luck trying to subsequently ''un''see it. It [[CrossesTheLineTwice crosses the line so many times]] that it doesn't take long for it to go from scary to BloodyHilarious for some. That being said, however, it's still very {{squick}}y and can be pretty frightening if you aren't expecting it.
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bDg7n-chhU video]] for "Beast and the Harlot". The lyrics alone were bad enough, but the video makes it many times worse, as it [[ScareEmStraight terrifies you into being virtuous]] by showing sinners being ''eaten alive'' by a virus.
** "Nightmare"'s video is pretty damn disturbing as well. M. Shadows being strapped down to a gurney and wheeled through a corridor, seeing his other band members insane and constant references to The Rev...oh, and the children playing in a pool of blood.
* Music/BarenakedLadies: The creepiness in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh-8kfq8syI "Easy"]] has little to do with the song itself, and a lot more to do with creepy, bloodstained warped fairy tale imagery. The crows don't help.
* Basement Jaxx: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiHefsYBnnE "Where's Your Head At?"]] -- a man is shown around a "facility" where animals are trained to play instruments. Then you see that 'every single one' has a human face. When they start reverting to animal behaviour and attacking him, he's forced to flee, but is cornered by the Mad Scientist apparently explaining that we know where we went wrong; we just need a few more subjects like that man with a baboon's head in the chair beside you...
* Music/{{Bastille}}: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F90Cw4l-8NY&feature=kp Pompeii]]" has frontman Dan Smith encounter various people with pitch-black eyes. He tries to flee them, and ultimately decides to drive out of the city. [[spoiler:Smith notices his own eyes darkening when he looks in the rearview mirror, and they also become pitch black by the time he reaches the desert.]]
** From the same, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQnSc0bczg0 "Laura Palmer"]]. A group of rednecks kidnap Dan Smith. It's not helped by the shaky, cheap footage, or the fact that the song itself is a {{Homage}} to ''Series/TwinPeaks''.
* Music/{{Beck|Musician}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgSPaXgAdzE "Loser"]], with the girls working out in the graveyard and moving coffin, is eerie in that it uses somewhat morbid imagery while making absolutely no sense whatsoever. Watching the literal version at night, despite the funny lyrics, is a bad idea.[[note]] Although, it's not really that creepy if you have a [[SurrealHumor surreal sense of humor.]] [[/note]]
* Music/{{Pat Benatar}}: Her video [[https://youtu.be/sXatoCG13tw "Anxiety"]] is definately nightmare fuel; that doctor's office definitely would make anybody nervous!
* Benny Benassi: Although the other version of [[BlackSheepHit "Satisfaction"]] is more well known for its weird, [[BestKnownForTheFanservice over-the-top sexualization]], [[https://youtu.be/b8qBUza1pO0 THIS]] version is just...[[ParanoiaFuel uggh.]] Don't stare directly at them for too long.
* Bestial Mouths are basically a NightmareFuelStationAttendant for music videos. Case in point: [[https://youtu.be/0ygPBaSodHk Earth]], in which a demoness with BlackEyesOfEvil and FemmeFatalons, portrayed by frontwoman Lynette Cerezo, is summoned via TomeOfEldritchLore and proceeds to enthrall the other band members with her FanDisservice-y song and dance.
* Music/BillyTalent:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPpUOfTc4Iw Devil In A Midnight Mass]]": An orphan is being chased by the two black ghostly smokes. He hides in a basement, then he finds a mouthless man sitting in a chair. The orphan tries to defend himself with an axe against the black smokes, and then he escapes to the altar only to find a choir of mouthless orphans, and quickly becomes one of them. Knowing the [[PedophilePriest meaning of the song]] makes the video even scarier.
** There's also "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh4ZGYNxdXk Saint Veronika]]", which features a humanoid sock puppet girl with a painted on face fleeing from her even creepier sock puppet family. For extra fun, the room the band is playing in is also full of disturbing puppet people. The video ends with [[spoiler:the girl getting tangled on a fence and coming unraveled in a rather gruesome manner.]]
* Music/{{Birdeatsbaby}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQh4I_sPeNc "Incitatus"]]. The girl being strapped to the hospital stretcher, the facial distortions on "Never comes a day so quickly when you're not paying attention..."
* Music/TheBirthdayMassacre:
** The doll masks in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SREZ-ggSDjM "Looking Glass"]]. That isn't the creepiest part, though - that damn ''mask'' the teacher was wearing. And the apple at the end with the insides melting onto the desk.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kp1FRKc24Zk "Blue"]]. A girl in a large, old fashioned house, supposedly monitored by [[CreepyDoll creepy dolls]], peeling up a rug to see a ''maze'' patterned on the floor, ripping the arms of (other) dolls off, drawing a line through the maze with the arm, and then in the middle finding...[[MindScrew some sort of black goo leading into a upside-down flip of where said]] [[CreepyDoll creepy dolls]] [[MindScrew are watching her]]. And then the ending: LosingYourHead, for every single doll in the damned house, ''and'' the girl!
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWapoQMeics In the Dark]]". Just when you start thinking it was AllJustADream, that [[CreepyDoll damned doll]] has to come back and kidnap her...
* Music/{{Bjork}}: "Wanderlust" is quite creepy in places; a blue... man... thing grows out of Bjork's backpack and starts to fight her, and at the end they both tumble off a waterfall and fall down past a ton of jagged rocks, into a seemingly neverending abyss. On the music side, the song begins with the same eerie foghorns and alarms that "Earth Intruders" ends with.
** "Pagan Poetry" is also creepy too, featuring rotoscoped images of Bjork giving head to a man, close-ups of needles protruding through her skin, and a GrossUpCloseUp of rings completely sewn onto her back.
* Music/BlackSabbath: This band has a few creepy songs including ''Mr Crowley'', ''Black Sabbath'' - appropriate name, ''Paranoid'' and ''Iron Man''.
* Music/BoardsOfCanada: The video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQEmaj9C6ko "Everything You Know Is A Balloon"]] has children in incredibly creepy ape masks dying horribly. The footage is taken from the bicycle safety movie ''Film/OneGotFat'', which is incredibly creepy on it's own, but combined with the calming yet ambient music it only gets creepier.
* Music/{{Brandy}}: [[http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1hiif_brandy-what-about-us_music "What About Us?"]] She spends most of the video standing on what can only be described as a large hill made of living human bodies, who don't seem to be enjoying the experience very much. There are repeated shots of one of them grimacing in pain.
* Music/BulletForMyValentine: In their song ''Waking the Demon'' a kid who keeps getting trolled at school eventually becomes a werewolf on Halloween when the moon is full. He kills the bullies' leader and does indeed scare the other trolls straight.
* Laura Branigan: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IyAGpooGko Self Control]]" features among other things, a [[Franchise/{{Halloween}} Michael Myers]] / [[Literature/ThePhantomOfTheOpera Erik]] character who stalks the singer in a trenchcoat, along with other ghost-like figures in facepaint and tights, and a bizarre shot of a [[CreepyDoll grotesque doll]] at the end of the video. Don't forget the hallway where arms reach out of the walls and try to grasp her. Appropriately, the video is directed by William "Film/TheExorcist" Friedkin.
* Music/BringMeTheHorizon's music video for "Follow You" features a guy singing happily as he walks to his girlfriend's house through a ''complete and utter breakdown of society''. One of the first things that happens is a golden retriever (previously seen nibbling on a bloody corpse that was missing most of its face) is shot in the head by a shotgun-toting mailman, who is laughing maniacally right up until a neighborhood woman obliterates his head, likewise cackling. All around him houses and cars are in flames, people are getting gunned down left and right, an airplane ''falls out of the sky in flames'', and other things that wouldn't be out of place in your garden-variety apocalypse, but he's cool, because he's so happy about his girlfriend that he pays no mind to any of it.
* Music/KateBush's video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTUcoR8_pyE Experiment IV]]. The whole concept of trying to create a sound-based weapon and performing tests on human subjects is eerie enough, but then there's the "sound creature" which begins killing everyone...
* Music/TheCardigans:
** "My Favorite Games"'s uncensored music video's concept ([[DrivesLikeCrazy a heedless driver who doesn't even bother to put her foot on the gas pedal]], for starters) can already be a scare to some, but some of its MultipleEndings are worse: One has the driver lying dead on the street after a massive crash, and another has the driver's head ''[[OffWithHisHead chopped]]'' by the same crash, and then we see a bloodied mannequin head rolling on the road.
** "Erase and Rewind"'s video is set in a room where [[TheWallsAreClosingIn the walls eventually closes in on the band]]. In one version of the endings, the CCTV cam inside the room [[GoryDiscretionShot shuts down (due to being crushed) right before the band gets flattened]].
* One of very few examples of this in Christian music is Carman's video for the 1989 song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySscnbaGAy0&pp=ygUbQ2FybWFuIEEgV2l0Y2gncyBJbnZpdGF0aW9u "A Witch's Invitation"]] when we get to the part where Carman's character confronts a warlock named Isaac Horowitz (also [[ActingForTwo played by Carman]]) and we get a brief scene of an aged Horowitz on his deathbed and a green demon coming out to claim Horowitz's soul for Hell.
* Music/TheCars: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dOx510kyOs "You Might Think"]] shows Ric Ocasek stalking Susan Gallagher in pretty unorthodox ways. And are those shades attached to his face permanently, cos when he tried to take 'em off..."
** The pure 80's weirdness of their video for [[https://youtu.be/DmFdW1JyccA "You Are The Girl"]] quickly descends from black comedy to blatant {{Body Horror}}.
*** Ric Ocasek's girlfriend on Earth gives him hell over a video call. They don't get a chance to patch things up before they are abruptly cut off by the Earth disintegrating in [[WorldWarIII a nuclear holocaust]].
*** Greg Hawkes passes by a chamber filled with sleeping women in [[HumanPopsicle cryogenic stasis]], and begins fiddling with the control dial to try to bring them out of it. Unfortunately, he doesn't see or understand what he's doing, and [[ContrivedClumsiness inadvertently breaks the dial]] after bringing it from FREEZE to DEFROST to MELTDOWN. The women are brought out of stasis, but [[CryonicsFailure their flesh melts rapidly to where they resemble zombies]]. Greg shrugs and sneaks off as they presumably continue to burn to death.
*** Ric sneaks off to see the [[SexBot "Emergency Pleasure Droid"]], but he breaks the remote and loses control over her. Her head blows off and lands on the floor, where we see her facial expression.
*** At the end of the video, the band's [[RetroRocket phallic starship]] docks with a strange alien vessel, its docking port equipped with [[VaginaDentata vaginal dentata]]. Boarding the vessel, the band is met by a group of bizarre-looking but (seemingly) friendly alien women.
* Music/CatherineWheel: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjLl5Onf8C4 "Waydown"]] is pure nightmare fuel for anybody who has a fear of flying. Rumor has it that MTV banned it due to complaints from viewers. This didn't stop WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButthead for ripping into it, however.
* Cattle Decapitation released a video in October 2012 for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl4HP-VBVWk Forced Gender Reassignment]]" that was brutally violent and disturbing enough for both Website/YouTube ''and'' Platform/{{Vimeo}} to reject it. The song deals with the harsh treatment of transgender people and the video's visuals...um, let's just say the title says it all. Several reaction videos on Website/YouTube still exist for anyone even morbidly curious. [[note]] We are not responsible for any injuries or deaths caused by this video. '''Please consult your doctor before and after clicking this link.''' [[/note]]
* Charred Walls of the Damned ("Radio/TheHowardSternShow" member Richard Christy's band) Had [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbXEUGU4ED4 these]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IEvuTEm9ew Videos]]
* Cheap trick [[https://youtu.be/QRTgQ4cx5ik distorted faces]] In the "Woke up with a Monster video the peoples faces all distorted is a bit weird also the scene when the daughter's face disappears is a bit unsettling.
* Music/TheChemicalBrothers: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UkWcXizRwU video]] for "Believe" takes the rather silly concept of a man being stalked by robot car-assembly arms and manages to make it terrifying. The whole video shows a man's life falling apart after he starts hallucinating that the robots from his work place are out to kill him, but he only sinks further into insanity as nobody takes him seriously since what he's seeing is so ridiculous.
* Cherry Glazerr: The video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7_VbRksShc "Nurse Ratched"]] has frontwoman Clementine Creevy as a hitchhiker who goes around violently stabbing people to death.
** While tame compared to most of the examples here, some viewers may be unsettled by the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3Pnr3S10yA "Nuclear Bomb" video]], in which Clem has [[FanDisservice full-on sex with a guitar]]. BrainBleach may be required.
** The face masks in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcaNe6nd3gc "Juicy Socks" video]].
* Music/CoheedAndCambria: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6QJJPuw-yg "Feathers"]]. Despite the upbeat singing and [[EpicRiff cool guitar riffs]] and the like, you think this is a [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids family friendly]] music video. It's not. First, it starts out innocently enough, but then things get darker. It doesn't help that the wife turns out to be pure evil, by the end. The real kicker? After cooking up everyone, she feeds the bits to her family. ''Yikes''.
* Music/{{Converge}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jjBinzryFY "Axe To Fall"]] is one minute and 48 seconds of mind-melting noise set to quick, fast paced grainy shots that look like an actual snuff-film or the set of ''Franchise/{{SAW}}'', torture machinery and all. The song ends with ''something'' dragging what appears to be either organs or wet wiring through an opaque window while vocalist Jacob Bannon is literally howling, even if he is howling "I need to learn to love me."
* Music/CradleOfFilth:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga-kd2Z0XtI "From the Cradle to Enslave"]] The song itself is creepy enough without the video. The uncensored version is {{Gorn}} with definite FanDisservice. Not to mention the mutated baby-things that keep stalking the band members. One of the most disturbing scenes is when a violin section plays and it shows four women who appear to be playing violins until it zooms in and you realize they are actually slitting their wrists with huge razor blades. Also the lead singer has his heart ripped out and while he's still alive it is force fed down his throat.
** Another disturbing clip would be the uncensored version of "Scorched Earth Erotica". Half of it is the most disturbing clips from the movie ''Film/CradleOfFear'' which is pretty much just the vocalist starring as a serial killer who... also eats cat guts... If you can't stomach seeing a man's oesophagus being torn out of his throat or a man's head being ripped in half like a phone book, then don't ever watch it!
* Music/TheCranberries: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KotlCEGNbh8 "Salvation"]]. Hey, look! A MonsterClown who's obviously Pinhead's cousin, with syringes instead of fingers! Totally family-friendly! (It doesn't help matters that the song is one of the Cranberries' most punky and upbeat.)
* Simone Cristicchi: If you thought that the "Going Under" video was creepy, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m_kUe0iZ_U watch the video]] for the Italian songwriter's "Che bella gente", based on similar facial distortions. That priest ''will'' haunt you.
* Crystal Method:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvQRRuckqM8 Trip Like I Do]]". Specially considering it is from the ''Film/{{Spawn|1997}}'' soundtrack, and scenes of the movie are into it.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A12-KN5UijA Name of the Game]]" is another example. Just look at the main character's "face".
* Cult of Luna: The post-metal band's video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVoVt-CUCiw Leave Me Here]]." Watch the video, and you wade into a seriously [[MindScrew screwtastic]] scene.
* Miley Cyrus: Sweet young Miley does what she can to break out from her Disney persona with her song, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrUvu1mlWco We Can't Stop]]". While it's clear that she's trying to act more adult, that doesn't stop the video from having some downright bizarre imagery: A skull made out of french fries, a creepy CGI head with white skin and black eyes, Miley making out with a giant naked Barbie doll, and worst of all, a girl cutting off her fingers with a pinkish substance gushing out in place of blood...
* Music/DaftPunk:
** That robot from "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoPplpBPQxQ Technologic]]"? It. Will. Kill. You. That it was originally the armature for [[Film/ChildsPlay Chucky]] doesn't help one iota.
** Throw in some subtly unsettling BodyHorror from the video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwRlt1XyOg0 "The Prime Time of Your Life"]] and you have the basis for one of the creepiest Music/DaftPunk albums.
** The dog guy from "Da Funk" is no slouch in the dream-haunting department either. Although to some it will become NightmareRetardant, either for being UglyCute or for being a very polite and nice person...or [[TakeAThirdOption both]].
* Music/DepecheMode: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvfcnpJRf0Q "Wrong"]]. The video starts off in a deceptively calm way with a car slowly backing up. It's only when the car crashes into a some parked cars that it becomes clear that no one is driving the car and it's rolling downhill on its own. A man laying on the front seats is jostled awake by the crash. When he sits up, there's something wrong and unnatural about his face -- it turns out to be a rubber mask. As the car continues to roll backwards and smashes into a pedestrian, the man struggles wildly, revealing that the mask is taped to his head and his hands are taped together. As the car continues its relentless backward roll, various people give chase until a police car speeds into the scene. Trapped and helpless in the sabotaged car (the steering wheel is removed and the brakes don't work), the man manages to remove the mask and free his hands just as a truck slams violently into the car. The music and the helpless man's obvious panic makes the video amazingly creepy.
* Music/{{Disturbed}}:
** The music video for "Inside the Fire" can be very frightening. It shows the suicide of his girlfriend, her lifeless body, a creepy ring like girl trying to get him to put a gun in his mouth, and the band members screaming with blood covering them, and ends showing the singer wrapped up in a mental asylum. That {{Content Warning|s}} at the beginning ''isn't kidding.''
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBv9TUQUDy0 The Night]]": a security guard, getting devoured by an entity ''[[NothingIsScarier that appears to be sentient darkness]]... in a parking garage, no less, and yet the band escapes unharmed.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K9jBL2syJ8 Asylum]]" has a man in an [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin asylum]] running onto the roof, chased by two sadistic doctors. He makes it to the edge, the camera shows the doctor's [[SlasherSmile grins]], and he is evidently so sick of the place that he willingly falls to his death. You see his eyes close as he slips into eternal sleep-- whoops! Reset button! And [[AndIMustScream his suffering starts over]]. This continues for a rather long time, and you [[TearJerker really start feeling sorry for the guy.]] The end of the video shows us that he crawls into a furnace, apparently dies there, only to be found an indeterminate amount of time later by a kitchen worker. The camera zooms in on his mummyish remains... and then his eyes open. The thing that makes that music video so much worse is that the pants that the prisoner wore appear to be the pants from a concentration camp uniform. Given the song "Never Again" on the same album as "Asylum" and David Draiman's heritage, it's almost positive that this is an intentional reference. That makes the end of the video ''that'' much more horrifying.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nW-IPrzM1g The Vengeful One]]", while a truly thrilling song that serves as a satire to modern news media, can also be quite terrifying with its generally bizarre subject matter and frightening imagery that would look slightly like something made by Creator/DavidLynch, as well as the titular character's [[NightmareFuel nightmare-inducing]] appearance, being an EldritchAbomination with [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing]] [[RedEyesTakeWarning red eyes]], a freaky and deranged-looking SlasherSmile, a GrimReaper-like cloak, and then there's the fact this is an entity ''[[ParanoiaFuel watching everyone from]]'' ''[[HyperspaceIsAScaryPlace the ageless Void]]'' (as the intro directly states), which not only gives a spine-tingling feel reminiscent of BigBrotherIsWatching, but is also now coming [[DraggedOffToHell to take your soul]]. Also, there's the fact that when the dark entity raids the headquarters, it all quickly turns into a relentlessly violent ''Franchise/{{Doom}}''-esque MookHorrorShow with demons being killed left and right with [[OverdrawnAtTheBloodBank huge amounts of blood splattering everywhere]], and when the raid leaves the whole HQ destroyed, the video ends with a family (that's watching TV and becomes possessed early on) appearing to die, only to revive. As a whole, the entire song (and its music video) can be seen as a frightening allegory for [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt the Apocalypse]].
* Dizee Rascal's horror homage "Couple Of Stacks" is the trope in all its bloody dismembering g(l)ory. It only stayed on Website/YouTube over the Halloween 2014 weekend and now only the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El1V7nilwzQ teaser]] (NSFW) remains there. KeepCirculatingTheTapes... The real video can now be found [[https://vimeo.com/112669530 on vimeo]], it's NSFW for a reason...
* DJ Snake and Music/LilJon with "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMUDVMiITOU Turn Down for What]]", which may be about a [[WildTeenParty crazy college party]] but contains several elements of horror films.
* Thomas Dolby's "[[https://youtu.be/HHgNHneZ6WM Hyperactive!]]" video is really creepy, the part with the ventriloquist dummy's head falls off and sings is really creepy!
* Don Juan Y Los Blancos: While the video has some NightmareRetardant (the adorable ghosts and the band waking up at the end), there's something really unsettling about [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRRt2DYbj_M "Better This Way"]], especially the closeups of the hanging band members' faces.
* Dr. Ring Ding: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kehEiUchVZo "Mafia"]]. Grotesque violence, rather creepy-looking people (but maybe just because of the mimics and blood) and all in all extremely cruel...
* Duran Duran's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ09HcvYQTY "Waiting for the Night Boat"]] may seem silly now but watching the guys turn into 'zombies', the creepy music, and listening to Simon Le Bon's 'soliloquy' definitely set chills down this fan's spine back in the day.
* *Duran Duran's Wild Boys music video was a bit surreal and scary, the fact the members of the band were being tortured in the video was unsettling and the creatures in the video were creepy [[https://youtu.be/M43wsiNBwmo?si=bpoEevFcMgV0N-WO "WiId boys video]]
* Music/{{DyE}}'s [[http://vimeo.com/30798517 "Fantasy"]] and its very NSFW music video. It begins as a pretty innocent video with four teens breaking in a swimming pool during the night. Halfway it switchs to a CosmicHorrorStory with BodyHorror. [[spoiler: The survivor of the gang escapes her mutated friends by diving in the pool, then reaches a portal in the bottom of the pool. She then enters an EldritchLocation and sees a gigantic EldritchAbomination, then her head explodes.]]
** Given the LyricalDissonance ([[http://lyrics.wikia.com/DyE:Fantasy here are the lyrics]]) and that the teen couple who eventually suffer ''Film/{{The Thing|1982}}''-style mutations were initially kissing and getting ''very'' intimate in front of the heroine, the music video is probably a very elaborate and creepy metaphor of puberty and initial disgust for sex.
* Earthists' video for [[https://youtu.be/J4R_gpOs9BY Sunblood]] is unsettling. It starts out with three of the members in a circle, but Yui and Yuya reveal they have [[Main/EyeScream flowers in their eye sockets]] all while [[Main/TheUnsmile creepily smiling at each other and the camera.]] NOT helping is bassist Shugo walking around dressed in a heavy black hood, acting as some sort of grim reaper. Then there's the ending [[spoiler:where Shugo casually slits the throats of Yui and Yuya and the video ends with Yuto staring directly at the viewer.]]
* Music/BillieEilish's [[https://youtu.be/HUHC9tYz8ik Bury A Friend]] (potentially NSFW) is a SurrealHorror fest that should not be watched near bedtime.
* Music/{{Eminem}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAuo8IOFNuE "3AM"]] is a situation where Eminem pretty much tops himself.
* Music/{{Eths}}: Their music videos in general, but especially [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBQZU4cdM-o "Bulimiarexia"]], courtesy of an AbandonedHospital, an extremely dark [[HospitalGurneyScene gurney scene]] and... [[BracesOfOrthodonticOverkill that guy]].
* Music/{{The Europeans}}: [[https://youtu.be/WYu37LmQATk Animals]] This video is pure nightmare fuel, even Beavis and Butthead were screaming when this video came on!
* Music/{{Evanescence}}:
** Two of their videos are really disturbing, "Bring Me To Life", and "Call Me When You're Sober". The latter is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with a handsome manipulative millonare in the place of the "wolf".
** There's also the video for "Going Under". The song is creepy by itself, and then the video... [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdhqVtpR2ts is truly terrifying]]. If you listen closely to the lyrics, Amy might already be dead.
* Faith No More's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG_k5CSYKhg "Epic"]]...the dreary end piano solo combined with footage of a dying fish is pure nightmare fuel!
* Fall Out Boy: The collection of music videos for the album "Save Rock and Roll" is one long story entitled "The Youngblood Chronicles," and pretty much every video has some nightmare fuel, including cult indoctrination, creepy hospital and asylum imagery, and people with black eyes chasing the band through isolated areas. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hDZbroaQDc&list=PLa4gBFCX40Or71YuQszeR733MTU-s2Dkh&index=3 "The Phoenix"]] stands out in having a scene where the lead singer is tied down, tortured, and has his hand cut off and sent to a bandmate before the entire group is captured and shoved into unmarked vans.
* Fightstar: The video for "Waste a Moment" shows a rich jerk who takes a coin that a homeless man was trying to get. The homeless guy throws a marble, and a "child" in a red hoodie appears out of nowhere and begins to chase after the marble. He/she wanders onto a train track so the rich jerk rushes to save the child, but then we see that under the hood is a horrifying alien-demon thing, which pins the rich man down as a train runs him over. The video was banned from airing before the 9 PM "watershed", and is instead replaced by a less terrifying version that just shows the band playing the song.
* Flying Lotus: [[https://vimeo.com/4069809 "Parisian Goldfish"]]. (NSFW) Though not really terrifying or creepy, it is BEYOND disturbing. Rotoscoped porn? What the fuck?
* Flyleaf: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN0FFK8JSYE "All Around Me"]] isn't really that creepy... until the walls start bleeding red paint. It gets worse as the paint eventually covers the floor and splatters the band members' clothes, making it genuinely look like they've been bleeding profusely. Or that they're covered in the blood of people.
* The Future Sound of London: [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc9l7pygQRo We Have Explosive]] Part this, part AcidTripDimension, part SensoryAbuse.
* ''Music/DiamandaGalas:''
** Her video for "Double Barrel Prayer" was banned from Much Music, and labeled by MTV as "The most offensive music video" and it's not without reason. Even without the bizarre song that accompanies it, well... a woman splashing around in blood, a woman making horrible facial expressions while pushing two microphones near her mouth (with a red cloth in the background), inexplicable video tape damage, a woman dancing passionately with a gun? Good luck trying to subsequently un-see it.
** "Do You Take This Man" is this and BlackComedy. Most of the video has her stalking the man she loves then subsequently torturing him in a bizarre ritual. And her trademark "two microphones" returns.
* Gem Club: "252", like much of the duo’s work, is a somber, quiet piano ballad with haunting, mournful vocal harmonies. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IHQ5xq1zaY The video]] treats us to a series of quietly horrific images within drab, mundane settings -- a man collapsing in a motel room and foaming at the mouth, a man lying face-down in a bathtub in a grotesquely contorted pose, motionless naked people wrapped in plastic in a dark alley, and a girl in the shower and a couple making out inexplicably leaking ''mucus-like black sludge,'' which gets [[GrossUpCloseUp several close-ups!]]
* Music/{{Genesis|Band}}: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU9lv_WqK6k Land of Confusion]]" is a pretty good song. The video, on the other hand, is set largely within the UncannyValley, featuring puppets done by the folks who made the satirical British program ''Series/SpittingImage''.
* Creator/CrispinGlover: His bizarre spoken word [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH6b_lSQst0 Clowny Clown Clown]]. This probably shouldn't be this way, but let's give Glover the benefit of the doubt and assume that he is aware that his stream of consciousness is warped and creepy.
* Gotye: "Don't Worry, We'll Be Watching," which is a good source of ParanoiaFuel and the video that goes with the song is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6V_44ibou8 just terrifying]]. It's eerily calm and contains strange looking people who look like they're part of a cult with white eyes that always watch you even in the black.
* Gowan:
** Video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIjddye2JSA "A Criminal Mind"]]. Yes, it starts off with [[NightmareRetardant the exploits of "No-Man" stealing a Florentine painting from a museum]], but it quickly goes into Nightmare Fuel territory from there. Gowan's [[NightmareFace overlit]] [[SlasherSmile sinister grin]], him [[PsychopathicManChild gleefully high-kicking around]], the Joker-esque smiles on the cops who arrest him, the [[ConveyorBeltofDoom woefully-misnomered rehabilitation machine]] that [[CoveredinGunge pours a bunch of lord-knows-what]] onto him, the [[LaughingMad laughing judges]], Gowan [[AxCrazy laughing maniacally from behind the bars of his disturbingly-small cage]] and his [[SlasherSmile all-too-familiar evil grin]] near the end, and then that [[LastNoteNightmare final shot of his animated face as he ominously whispers "I AM"]]. Yeah... don't watch this right before bed. And in most live performances of the song, Gowan pulls off [[SlasherSmile a really unsettling smile]] during various points of the song. Yes, even playing this song in concert can make Gowan look creepy as all hell.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aky7NNOqV6s The video for Maestro's cover]], which samples the chorus of the original, is almost worse; unlike the original video, Gowan appears in full inmate garb... and when we first see him, his face is almost [[DissonantSerenity completely emotionless]]. Something about his lack of expression in this version compared to his [[SlasherSmile manic grin]] in the original... it's just unnerving. Granted, he's later seen laughing in an [[ComicBook/TheJoker unsettlingly-familiar way]] as he's being led to his cell (and, in that same shot, making a face that [[FridgeHorror implies]] [[DemonicPossession something really, REALLY horrifying)]], but still, that first image of him, just sitting there calmly claiming that "they tried to reform me, but I'm made of cold stone".
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swW_B_RxGQw "Lost Brotherhood"]], with its [[NightmareFace ghoulish masks that appear on the faces of drug users, prostitutes and gang members]], a blink-and-you'll--miss-it precursor to smile.jpg, creepy-as-all-HELL gaping-mouthed businessmen, and the general air of anarchy and lawlessness that pervades the entire video. Granted, this is also the video where [[NightmareRetardant Gowan's spinning piano makes its debut]], but still... not something you want to watch right before bed.
* Music/GrizzlyBear: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjecYugTbIQ "Two Weeks"]]. These guys are like Satan's evil choir boys.
* Music/DavidGuetta: On its own, "Turn Me On", featuring Music/NickiMinaj, seems to be an IntercourseWithYou song with some FlorenceNightingaleEffect. The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVw7eJ0vGfM music video]] however, features a doctor making animatronic dolls. When we first see Doll!Nicki Minaj, specifically during the first chorus... she looks ''horrifying''. The rest of the video isn't better, even after she materializes into looking human; she is the only doll who has "life", and she escapes, resulting in the other dolls rioting so they can get "life". It then turns out the doctor himself is a doll... ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext.
* Music/GunsNRoses: "Don't Cry" has a pretty disturbing video. It starts with an innocent baby lying in a little bed, and then, the MoodWhiplash / CerebusSyndrome punches you in the gut. What happens? Well, Axl dies, and then one woman beats up another woman for no reason, and then, a third woman starts yelling at Slash while he's driving, and their car crashes. And the whole thing ends with a close-up of the baby's eye.
* This creepy video by Nina Hagen [[https://youtu.be/MZEdxHT_lbA Herman was his name"]] this is a really scary video. Even Beavis and Butthead agree.
* Emily Haines and The Soft Skeleton: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq-jEHZ-EFc "Dr. Blind"]]. Running from a store at night? Fine. Going into a store at night? Okay. Store Closes While Shopping and Suddenly Is Empty? Okay, you're freaking me out a bit. And then NightmareFuel sets in: Oh my god, the store isn't empty, everyone is dead and lined up like dominoes.
* George Harrison's [[https://youtu.be/AVu6nPTVbBQ "When We Was Fab"]] video was a bit creepy, the ending with him and all of those arms magically appearing was kind of creepy!
* Music/{{HEALTH}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1qvEr9bC6c "STONEFIST"]]. An otherwise normal PerformanceVideo, but with a catch: the video randomly cuts to (extremely graphic) close-up shots of a plastic surgery. It turns out at the end that the entire band was going under this surgery.
* Music/HerbieHancock: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pERrVMbsCfg "Rockit"]]. The song is a pretty catchy instrumental, while the video proves that, despite what logic might tell you, mannequins do not get '''less''' disturbing when you separate them into their component parts. Seriously, if creepy, disembodied robotic limbs flailing around aren't your cup of tea, you'll probably want to steer clear.
* How To Destroy Angels: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWbfgGDl6XE video]] for "The Spaces in Between" slowly reveals a murder scene in a hotel room. Mariqueen Maandig is a corpse that begins calmly singing, continuing as fire sears the flesh. Trent Reznor appears as a man who is somehow lying in a pool of his own blood. Atticus Ross and his partner watching TV nearby, apparently oblivious to what is going on (the lack of clear chronology adds to the unsettling feel).
* Infant Annihilator's music video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7mhQipwdb0 "Blasphemian"]] is just plain uncomfortable. It starts with a dreary background and then [[BodyHorror disfigured]] {{Gorn}}y demons doing disturbingly sexual things with one another and killing people. All of this is set to some very DerangedAnimation.
* Music/{{Interpol}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUruUXvYPVw "Obsticle 1"]]. What are they doing in that building? Why is the glass breaking? It plays to every single claustrophobia/terror of unknown/fear of stark abandoned buildings points.
** That's nothing compared to the video for "Evil". Like tragically realistic depictions of post-accident car crash scenes? Or [[UncannyValley creepy, half-realistic puppet guys]]? Well, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C5Eipt8xn0 here you go]].
* Music/IronMaiden have a surprising few:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c9iYZdsZMM "Afraid to Shoot Strangers"]] has clips of the band playing inter spliced with clips of the gulf war. There are some VERY disturbing images in there, particularly the one of the man shooting his gun towards the grey sky.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_cso4MpFuo "Bring Your Daughter... To the Slaughter"]] is similar, though it has clips from old school horror movies.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rYgOA5a9SI "Man on the Edge"]]. The video is both clips of the band playing in a warehouse with an eerie strobe light effect, and footage of people jumping to their deaths off of skyscrapers. Once you're done, wash it down with the rather funny [[http://video.mynet.com/clip.mania/Iron-Maiden-Man-On-The-Edge-Slapstick-Version/1093340/ slapstick version]]!
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWBiQDtVOgQ "The Final Frontier"]]. Predator-like Eddie = -shudders-
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipyjwp2bVgM "Wildest Dreams"]] is where the band topped themselves in terms of creepiness. The eerie wasteland look of the desert they race through, eerie possessed [[Music/BruceDickinson Bruce]] at the beginning, the slave bearing Eddie and his little black minions, the scene where they drive through his mouth and are chased by a gigantic black snake, and the very last shot where Eddie stares you down from the sky.
* Takkyuu Ishino: "Polynasia" uses the scenario of a family fire accident, starting from their ignorance of the potential danger by their activities inducing the heat in their apartment, up until the lighting of a lighter and a matchstick that sends everything downhill immediately; it does not help that Ishino uses the video slowdown technique for the details of everything getting blown up.
* Music/MichaelJackson:
%%** The "[[https://youtu.be/crbFmpezO4A Leave Me Alone]]" video was pretty freaky; those huge chomping teeth at the beginning were pretty scary! Also, the part when Michael was dancing with the Elephant Man's skeleton.
** "Thriller". The most famous music video of all time, directed by John Landis, has haunted generations of children. Michael's [[TransformationTrauma transformation]] into a werecat (some people say it was a werewolf, while the making of the video says a cat creature) at the beginning was pretty terrifying, especially because nothing at the start of the video suggests that something ''that'' gruesome will occur.
*** Then there are the scenes with the zombies rising from the graves, with expressionless faces and rotting bodies, and Michael transforming into a zombie himself, with that huge forehead and bulging eyes. Those are frightening by themselves, but the very idea that his girlfriend is now completely alone, and chased into an abandoned house, where she is driven into a corner, is mind-bogglingly scary. Thankfully the whole thing was [[AllJustADream just a bad dream]] the girlfriend was having. OrWasItADream -- then Michael turns to the camera with those demonic yellow eyes, followed by the evil laughter of Vincent Price. So, you realize she is still not safe. Also note that ''everything'' takes place in the dark.
** Michael's later video, "[[Film/MichaelJacksonsGhosts Ghosts]]" (1997), based on a plot he and Stephen King hashed out (and currently the record-holder for the longest music video at 38 minutes), has its own troupe of dancing, increasingly ugly ghouls who, led by Michael's "Maestro", entertain/torment an angry mob and their bigoted leader (Michael in heavy makeup). (Why are they angry? [[RealitySubtext Maestro was apparently living all alone in a spooky mansion and telling local kids ghost stories in secret.]]) The weird thing is that even when Maestro physically turns into a ghoul, possesses the helpless mayor by forcing himself in liquid form down his throat, and ultimately turns ''him'' into a ghoul temporarily and painfully, you're supposed to be rooting for him!
** The video to "Torture" by the Jacksons. At one point, one of the brothers is feeling his way along a wall covered in eyeballs, accidentally sticks his hand in one, and pulls it out. His palm now has an eye in the center of it, and it ''looks at him''.
* Jamie T: "Zombie" shows him and his band turning into, well, zombies, along with detaching body parts and blood. This is particularly less extreme them most examples on this list, because it's all [[BlackComedy played for dark laughs]], but it's still creepy.
* Music/JayZ: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM1RChZk1EU "On to the Next One"]] is just Jay-Z and the director having fun with the Illuminati/Free Mason rumors that have been leveled at him. A lot of... unsettling imagery in this one.
* Jet: "Look What You've Done", despite its [[Music/TheBeatles Beatles]]-esque style. If you couldn't stomach ''WesternAnimation/{{Bambi}}'', then chances are you'll find this video horrifying. What happens in the video that makes it so scary, you may ask? [[spoiler: In the middle of the song, all goes dark and scary when this red eyed thing shows up in the bushes, but then it leaves. It's gone, the animals come back out of hiding...and then SUDDENLY they start turning into greedy, vicious, rabid beasts who turn against one another. Then as the chorus kicks in, the red eyed thing comes BACK, starts systematically killing all the animals at a really fast pace, and we even see its SlasherSmile at one point. And then everything clears again, and the forest is pretty much dead. Seriously, how did Jet get THIS imagery out of this song?]]
* Music/BillyJoel: In the video "[[https://youtu.be/Iyv905Q2omU Pressure]]" there are some unsettling scenes, like the scene when the young version of Billy gets stuck inside the television screaming for help, Billy getting sucked into the floor, etc.
* Music/EltonJohn: There is some disturbing, or at least for him, some very macabre imagery in the at-the-time very elaborate promo video of his obscure 1977 single "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt7xtcD40Dg Ego]]".
* Argentinean rock band Music/{{Kapanga}}'s [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCnuB11iS1E music video]] for "Postal" (from 2004's ''Esta!'') mixes this with TearJerker: the protagonist of the video is a lower class "cartonero" (slang for person who picks up dismantled cardboard boxes for recycling in order to make something resembling a living) being slowly turned into a cardboard person. It's a metaphor for the deep poverty the lower classes of the country were suffering during the early [[TurnOfTheMillennium TOTM]] as a consequence of the disastrous political and economical measures taken in TheNineties and the early TurnOfTheMillennium.
* Music/{{Kesha}}: The "KS 'n Friends" version of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edP0L6LQzZE "Take It Off"]] is definitely up there, featuring random acts of violence, people turning into animals, and a whole host of "what the fuck oh my god why" inducing imagery.
* Music/TheKillers: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FufL80hJsP8 Bones]]", which has a theme of skeletons in it and, yes, is directed by Creator/TimBurton.
* Music/{{KISS}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWIW6Ti0PbE "Psycho Circus"]] is rather unsettling, even if the effects aren't the best. [[CircusOfFear Welcome]] [[MonsterClown to]] [[DemBones the]] [[DisneyAcidSequence show]], [[NightmareFace indeed]]
%%* Music/{{Klaxons}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDqNcCuFIzE "Magick"]]. Hello there. Please get away from me with that blindfold.
* Kode9:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaU-pnassYM "Nine Samurai"]], where the BrownNote effect is taken to horrifying extremes and developed for biological warfare. Imagine living in a world where even dancing to music is a life-threatening endeavor because an audio-spread virus will make [[YourHeadASplode your head warp until it's just a smear of blood.]] Can't? Well, this video will help you out.
** The voice over in another of his songs, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUf4y5NiETA "Sine"]], was intentionally meant to be treated as a man on his death bed. [[FridgeHorror Lethal aural viruses, death beds]]? Holy scissordicks.
* Music/{{Korn}}:
** If you can watch the whole "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRPxao3e_jY Right Now]]" video without feeling sick or slightly nauseous at the end, you've either got extremely strong tolerance or an incredibly messed-up state of mind. The video features an animated character mutilating himself in a variety of sickening ways. Have the BrainBleach ready if you click the link!
** "[[CoveredUp Word Up!]]" too. The band members' heads on dog bodies is just wrong on so many levels.
* Music/LadyGaga: Nearly all of her videos are nightmarish.
** The ending to Lady Gaga's "Music/BadRomance" is more disturbing: she burns a man alive, when they cut back to her she is laying on the charred smoking bed with his burnt skeleton while she shoots sparks from her breast area for no reason what so ever.
** The part in Gaga's "Telephone" when she's in her jail cell, wrapped in yellow police tape, her head begins twitching in...one of creepiest ways you will ever see. It is reminiscent of the twitchy way that the monster nurses in ''VideoGame/SilentHill2'' move, except more rapid, so much so that it makes you doubt if you really saw her move like that.
** One would think that "Paparazzi" with its RagdollPhysics and flash-cuts of dead bodies would be a better candidate (it gets even better in the live version, where she [[FamilyUnfriendlyViolence sets off a blood squib under her dress]] during the final chorus...)
** The video for "Alejandro" is chock full of it. The NightmareFace at the very end gets a special mention.
** "Born This Way." The undeniably creepy introduction, that skeleton makeup, and what the ''heck'' is wrong with her shoulders and cheekbones?!?!
* [=LeaF=]:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC-bVtpIMd4 MopeMope]]" starts out as a cute song with dancing flowers, but there's a ''very'' good reason why the message [="//!--- This movie is NOT for children. ---!//"=] was in the video description. Halfway into the video the flowers will [[DisguisedHorrorStory suddenly]] transform into [[FoulFlower terrifying, semi-realistic monstrosities with hands as petals]], and the music will turn into distorted noises. The song seems to end by reverting back to its cheerful self, but [[LastNoteNightmare drops one last scare at the end]] in the form of a static sound, a ScareChord, and the "おわり" ("end") text suddenly turning red. In fact there was an incident where [=YouTube=]'s content detection system [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids mistakenly flagged it as a kids' video]], likely subjecting many kids online to the horrors of seemingly-innocent flowers. This is why several musical game arcades (e.g. Pump It Up) had to censor that segment due to how horrifying (and flashy it was), and to make matters more chilling, ''this song'' inspired the creator of [[VideoGame/GeometryDash Geometry Dash]]'s stage "Peaceful", and the aforementioned stage is EQUALLY HORRIFYING to the contents of the MV's horror segment.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKl4gZDWP34 MARENOL]]" '''(NSFW warning!!)''' is perhaps the most infamous MV of any of [=LeaF=]'s songs, and undoubtedly one of the most infamous [=MVs=] for Japanese doujin/alternative songs out there. It's about a young girl overdosing on anti-depressants and having hallucinations that can only be described as "Nightmares so horrible that they approach death". Sure that, the video is near-fully consisted of the girl seemingly suffering from extreme forms of CruelAndUnusualDeath, including '''''being ran over by a train, GroundByGears, having her body splitting into pieces, drowning, tied and dropped into a spike pit''''', among other things. Not helping is that there's a JumpScare at the start of the song when she's being ran over by a train. It's all depicted in 8-bit and the girl isn't actually suffering from the deaths, but it's still a very unpleasant music video. Last but not least, the description has a story that gives the viewer extra context and it's an extremely depressing read ([[https://pastebin.com/YmmD0nt8 You can read the English translation here]]).
* LFO: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3og0oFiDO3U Freak]]". A music video featuring Asian schoolgirls dancing to the song before two of them get in a fight over a teddy bear and one is pushed to the ground, triggering a seizure. The video ends with this girl sitting up directly in front of the camera, revealing a CG face that looks incredibly ''[[NightmareFace off]]'', and [[SlasherSmile smiling]]. Brrr. The video's predominantly [[UnnaturallyBlueLighting blue hue]] bears eerie resemblance to Chris Cunningham's work, and the schoolgirls share the same [[EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette offsetting]] [[StringyHairedGhostGirl look]].
* Liars: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04domJ7F0oY Scissor]]." A serious case of [[GeniusLoci the rocks]] being out to get you, fears of drowning, corpses, and more. A bit more psychological than many of the others listed, but still frightening. It also doesn't help that [[http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858808959/the lyrics]] are about murder or maybe suicide.
* Love Automatic's video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71xpQUFgk_k Nightmare]] Combines Gorn and CruelAndUnusualDeath (levels of which would be scary enough in live-action footage) with an added dose of UncannyValley from both the monsters and the fact that it is Claymation.
* Los Fabulosos Cadillacs: [[http://youtu.be/P_6V-JTGn_M "Mal bicho"]]. It's full of Nightmare Fuel and NauseaFuel. Not only do we have the parts with [[spoiler: RealLife footage of many dictators (Hitler, Mussolini, Pinochet, etc.)]] and the ones with [[RefugeInAudacity an effeminate]] CaptainErsatz of Argentine dictator Jorge Rafael Videla tortures a BoundAndGagged girl, but by the end [[spoiler: the members of the band are killed one by one in stage.]] Eugh. Made worse because of the LyricalDissonance: the lyrics are essentially a ShutUpHannibal to a nasty racist, but the music is catchy, bouncy ska!
* Music/{{Ludo}}: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XH3oMNKApI video to "Love Me Dead"]] is a tad unnerving, especially for those who don't like creepy clowns.
* Mana: "El Muelle de San Blas" already implied the death of old age in the dock of the waiting woman they describe, and in the music video for it [[spoiler: that's exactly what happened. At a very advanced age she put out her white dress, made a small boat containing her beloved picture and set it to float away and finally went further into the sea to drown herself.]]
* Music/{{Madonna}}:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAQZPBwz2CI "4 Minutes"]], with Music/JustinTimberlake and Timbaland, involves...Let's call it, a polygonal "bubble" that erases everything it passes through, including completely oblivious ''people''. It's not ''that'' bad until you start seeing the angles from outside of the bubble, where cross-sections of things become visible as it goes. The cincher is that this includes ''the cheeks of a kissing couple'' (and then their legs), and the video closes with it having cut into Justin's side and then starting on Madonna's face[[note]]By this point the wall "timer" has ''glitched out'' as well![[/note]] before the cut to black.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSaFgAwnRSc "Bedtime Story"]], which happens to be one of the priciest videos of all time, has a disturbing scene with Madonna having mouths and an eye where each other should be.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS088Opj9o0 "Frozen"]], Possibly Madonna's creepiest video. Taking place in a dark desert, the video contains elements of paganism and black magic. At one point she falls over, turning into a flock of crows, and in another scene, she transforms into a huge black dog. The ending where three Madonnas move ethereally on the desert ground in near complete darkness is downright haunting.
* Manifesto: A CoverVersion of Joan Armatrading's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aBHo-1dfLs "Love And Affection"]] from late 2001. It's somewhat similar to ScienceFiction but the fact it's a love story between two shop dummies (that [[UnintentionalUncannyValley look incredibly lifelike]]) which makes it fall into this territory.
* Marcel Vanthilt: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahyyCM-TNUo ''Paracetamol'']] is one of those where you do not know what is the most disturbing about it. Is it the fact that the guy is fully drugged, the fact that his organs are literally cut off the body of the patient or that the patient sees his organs as physical non-living objects? Even as a comedic showcase showing the horrible effects of drugs on your body it can indeed be creepy for some.
* Music/MarilynManson:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypkv0HeUvTc "The Beautiful People"]], a video that contains elements of BodyHorror and UncannyValley.
** Marilyn Manson seems to specialize in this. Weird costumes, metal teeth, mutated-looking people on stilts... all well and good until you ended up seeing them while sleep-deprived.
* Maruosa:
** Anything they do is guaranteed to have {{Grindcore}} (with no lyrics, just mind-obliterating MetalScream that feels like someone shoved a chain-link fence in your brain, doused it in napalm and electrified it), MindScrew, BodyHorror, DerangedAnimation, NightmareDreams, {{Nightmare Face}}s, {{Eldritch Abomination}}s, NotSafeForWork content, EpilepticFlashingLights, and NightmareFuel. Administrivia/YouHaveBeenWarned.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDwOu1t-L6I "ACA"]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS-s38V7lAI "Muscle Spasm"]]
** It should be noted that Maruosa does have two videos that do not follow the BodyHorror trend of the previous two videos. The first, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4uVSjyreiA Big Ass Extream Bash]], has Maruosa getting rejected by a girl and giving birth to a wrestler to fight her. The second video, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv8zXnU4678 Monsters High!!!]], features a collection of monster mascots, which include a [[StickyFingers kleptomaniacal dragon]] and a [[TheSociopath sociopathic blob who enjoys threatening people with an aluminum bat]], causing chaos throughout the streets of the Tokyo metro area. Not as crazy as his first two, but still quite frightening.
* NightmareFuel/MelanieMartinez
* Mellowhype: The video for "64", especially the part where the guy looked at the camera with the different eyes.
* Music/{{Meshuggah}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elNeQjTTnVo "Bleed"]] features a disturbing storyline about an innocent traveler encountering an odd... human... dog... slave... thing, being yelled at by an obelisk, and watching in awe as a pale women runs a red string, presumably his lifeline, through her hands. Right after she cuts it the main character is clamped into a large metal collar similar to the man-dog's. To top it all off the traveler eventually ends up in the same state as the man-dog, bound to [[http://rationalgaze.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/obzen.jpg this guy.]] Made even worse by the recent DVD, "Alive," which puts the video on a menu with the man-dog just moving around, staring at the viewer, set to a creepy ambient hum. So much eek, yet so awesome.
* Music/{{Metallica}}:
** The video for "One". It is essentially scenes from the movie ''Johnny Got His Gun'', about a veteran who has lost his arms, legs and senses [[AndIMustScream but still has an intact mind]], condensed down in to music video form.
-->If I had arms, I could kill myself. If I had legs, I could run away. If I had a voice, I could talk and be some kind of company for myself. I could yell for help, but nobody would help me.
-->S.O.S. Please help me.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-Bn_kD6QN4 "Unforgiven II"]]. It is really goddamn surreal and disturbing! The basic concept alone is unnerving, the imagery of a boy growing from childhood to adulthood with his arm trapped within a solid concrete wall in the middle of a dark, grey, fog-shrouded void, unable to move. Further disturbing imagery comes from the snakes that grow from the wall to wrap around his body, which become a swarm of tentacles and grasping arms and the time the boy tries to walk away from the wall, only for his arm to stretch to an obscene length and reel him back in again. At the end of the video the wall morphs into a topless woman -still with the boy's hand sticking right through her back and out of her chest- who takes a key from his clenched fist before finally freeing him. And all throughout the video, James Hetfield has been looking positively ''demonic'' with his goateed face lit from beneath by flickering light.
** "Enter Sandman"'s video is also pretty trippy and terrifying.
** The video for Metallica's single "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spsnQWtsUFM All Nightmare Long]]" takes place in a terrifying alternate history where the Soviet Union discovered an odd parasite in the aftermath of TheTunguskaEvent capable of reanimating the dead, and uses it to infect and subsequently take over the U.S. Thanks for the ZombieApocalypse, Mother Russia! It doesn't help matters that the song is inspired by Frank Belknap Long's "Literature/TheHoundsOfTindalos"...
* Music/{{MGMT}}:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe4EK4HSPkI Kids]]" from ''Music/OracularSpectacular''. It starts with a toddler being accosted by realistic monsters in an otherwise pitch black room. Later it has the kid wandering alone on the street surrounded by monsters and deformed people. The animated section at the end goes up to eleven. Of course... it was made by the same people who brought us ''WesternAnimation/{{Superjail}}''. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csycpzaUsNQ Even]] WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtHead felt bad for the toddler.
** Also from MGMT is "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvSMp7T2Kes Flash Delirium]]," which can really only be described as Deranged Live-Action.
%%* Music/NickiMinaj: "Stupid Hoe" is seizure-inducing and unsettling.
* Mike Posner: "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" [[note]]("I Took a ''Plane'' in Ibiza" in censored versions)[[/note]] has Mike in a club doing the sort of things you'd expect: partying, drinking and taking drugs, hooking up with beautiful women, you name it. The problem? The entire time, he's wearing a gigantic paper mâché version of his head that swerves right into the UncannyValley.
* Music/{{Moby}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uMYU1LXS3w "Disco Lies"]]. The first scene can turn you into a veggie in a second, but what's following is way worse in the uncut version. You can see a giant pimp chicken picking, chewing and then spitting an eyeball from a helpless thug. And in the end, after violently murdering the Colonel-wanabee, the chicken proceed to eat his legs with barbecue sauce. While laughing.
* Music/ModestMouse:
** "King Rat" involves an interesting inversion on fish stick production, where whales fish for people! Gruesome!
** "The Whale Song" is pretty full of nasty, surreal stuff. Isaac trapped in a nightmarish world accompanied by howling, bending guitar noises is pretty freaky. And let's not forget when his organs come falling out of his body.
* Motion City Soundtrack: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-mntwBFHHE "Disappear"]]. The video centers around a young girl being chased by a swamp monster of sorts that stalks her, and it is implied that the monster killed or even eaten her parents. Not to mention that the girl is wearing a completely terrifying hat the entire time. The song itself is kind of creepy (at least, compared to MCS' general image). It seems to be about escapism and isolation via drugs/alcohol/self-harm/etc. Throw a chick in a panda mask into the mix, and holy crap.
* Music/MrBungle: What do you get when you throw a CircusOfFear, sadomasochism and downright ''fucked up'' psychedelic imagery together in a blender? [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtDEmtwuTlI The video for "Quote Unquote".]]
** There's a popular unofficial video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwWQYg7aS5o "Pink Cigarette"]] that involves a CreepyCrossdresser stalking a woman and following her home.
* Roisin Murphy: "Ramalama (Bang Bang)". Combine the song with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB__fd5YeyQ this video]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YsTy_6UmnE or this]] and it either becomes pants-browningly scary or [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome freaking awesome]].
* Music/MyChemicalRomance:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1BaqEcb330 "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us".]] Not only is Gerard Way creepy in his own right, but the video itself is based on [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audition_(film) "Audition"]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO9Lj0T93Xk "I Don't Love You"]], with its creepy boy and girl...
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bbTtPL1jRs "Famous Last Words"]]. Already pretty eerie with the shadowy lighting and creepy facepaint and general unsettling theatricality, but the video gets exponentially creepier when you learn that the pyrotechnics burned their drummer's leg resulting in staph infection, gangrene, and near death. Not to mention an in-video tackle that tore ligaments in Gerard Way's foot and left him walking with a cane for a few weeks. Be more dedicated to your crazy, guys.
** Mother War in the music video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDWgsQhbaqU "Welcome To The Black Parade"]] is creepy in her own right, what with that gas mask and dress, but when you add all the other aspects of the music video...
* Mystikal: Near the end of his video for "Tarantula," Mystikal is about to get into a fight with another patron at a nightclub. But instead of coming to blows, his entire body morphs into a pile of (what else?) tarantulas, which clear out the entire building.
* Nadeah:
** Her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btVuTitRtTc "At The Moment"]] comes with a video so filled to the brim with MoodWhiplash, that describing it is just funny: [[UncannyValleyMakeup the visuals are pretty scary]], [[SoundtrackDissonance but they're accompanied by a sweet melody]]... [[LyricalDissonance with heavy lyrics about suicide.]]
* Music/NineInchNails, who have (has?) built a career on unsettling videos.
** While "Closer" is deeply unsettling, the best example of their (his?) work is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBFwXoyjU2E "Deep"]], in which lead singer Trent Reznor drives around in his car, looking like one of the Uruk-Hai creatures from ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'', due to the fact that he had stolen a valuable safe, and was sprayed with a toxic dye that won't come out.
** [[https://vimeo.com/3556108 "Happiness in Slavery."]] ('''''NSFW!!!''''') In case you might think of checking this one out for yourself, here's a summary: a man [[spoiler:gets naked, lies down, and allows a machine to rip off his penis and gradually chop up the rest of his body]], then [[spoiler:grind him into meat, all depicted quite graphically, though about as artistically as possible... and in black and white]]. You've been warned. The man in question? Bob Flanagan: Supermasochist. He was all over this video.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omWQzYycyJk "Starfuckers, Inc."]], a rare music video from NIN, features Trent and a typical 'Hawt Blonde Gurl' going to a filthy carnival that looks like it's taking place in the ''Deliverence'' town, featuring all sorts of celebrity TakeThat including a [[GonkyFemme hideously obese Courtney Love]]. The video doesn't get insanely freaky until the end, where it's all in strobe lights and Hawt Blonde Gurl shocks everyone by revealing [[spoiler: [[UnsettlingGenderReveal she's Marilyn Manson]]!]]
** The music video for ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfW0ke4bwI4 Pinion]]'', a short instrumental track, is downright unsettling. All grainy and colorless, the video starts with a creepy shot of a dirty toilet flushing, with the music lightly tapping away. As the track builds, the video pans down the pipes, getting more intense until you see [[spoiler:a leatherbound human being with his mouth against the pipe; twitching silently as he's drowned]]. Holy mother of God.
** The video for "Down in it", despite being shot somewhat on the cheap, was enough to convince the FBI it was a snuff film.
* Music/TheOffspring: "Hammerhead," as well as the DerangedAnimation-filled "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kenF3_77774 She's Got Issues]]."
* Music/{{OFWGKTA}}:
** Earl Sweatshirt's song "Earl". The video starts with a very homemade looking video of a group of friends making a cocktail of various drugs- cocaine, weed, two kinds of cough syrup, alcohol, and some pills- and they all take a drink, and then go skateboarding. As the day goes on they start losing their hair, pulling out their teeth, [[NauseaFuel one man pulls off his fingernail]], and basically start leaking blood from their noses, mouths, eyes, nipples, and god only knows what else. It gets more and more graphic until the end of the video, all of the people are slumped over dead in the house where they started at. Except for one, who manages to shamble to the pool and falls in to possibly drown, if he didn't die as soon as he fell. Brrrr. It's worse if you know someone that would attempt that, however stupid an idea you may think it is.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_yjHfAyh80 "VCR"]] by Tyler the Creator is also quite creepy.
** And then there's "Yonkers", where we see Tyler eating a cockroach and subsequently puking it out, then remaining in the video with horrifying black eyes and then hanging himself.
* ohGr: A band project fronted by the lead singer of Music/SkinnyPuppy, they have a music video of one of their songs called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJSsEPSmdMI "maJiK"]], which features creepy stop-motion claymation, [[Franchise/ANightmareOnElmStreet Freddy Krueger]]-esque media reporters, an alien fetus, a George Bush puppet, and a creepy 3-eyed goblin that puts the creatures in Tool's videos to shame.
* Music/OingoBoingo: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jItz-uNjoZA Sometimes]] the most disturbing stuff is implied rather than shown, as "Little Girls" demonstrates.
** The video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSuvPuQM7qc "Insanity"]] uses a similar stop-motion animation style to the Music/{{Tool}} "Prison Sex" video, using broken-down dolls and strange wiry creatures, but with the added... uh, ''bonus'' of having distorted footage of Danny Elfman's [[SlasherSmile creepy grins]] occassionally pop in.
* Oliver Heldens: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrV6SWp5h4g Last All Night]]. Chances are that ''something else'' happened after the footage abruptly ended; whatever it was, it would be the most likely reason why the assistant went insane. So... [[NothingIsScarier what was it?]]
* Music/{{Oomph}}:
** "Auf Kurs". Here, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWEYnoYq-xs have a link]]. Watch it and try not to cringe; it gets bad about 1:18.
** Add the videos for "Augen Auf!", and "Beim Ersten Mal tut's Immer Weh". On the final one, the title reads "It always hurts the first time", and what you've guessed is so much milder than what happens in the video.
** ''Labyrinth'' is all the more disturbing for the main character being a little girl, as it's a dark ''Alice in Wonderland''.
** "Gott ist ein Popstar". Maybe you can guess [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin what it's about]]. The lyrics and the video is certainly unnerving, but at around 2:35, watch for... faces... doing things they shouldn't.
* Otto Dix:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue5PN51S4QI "Beliy Pepel"]]. The music and lyrics by themselves are creepy enough, but combined with those eyes... and the ''ballerina''... help.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AVr1Ux95DQ "Ego"]]. It's like a mix of NightmareFuel and MindScrew. Knowing the words doesn't help much, either. Roughly translated, the chorus goes something like this:
-->''Barefoot, on the blades of knives''
-->''Dance, dance, dance''
-->''And kiss your pain''
-->''On her scarlet lips''
* Ozzy Osbourne video "Shot in the dark" was a bit creepy, the girl at the end of the video turns into a monster ''[[https://www.ok.ru/video/21016414747 creepy stuff]]''
* Music/PanicAtTheDisco: Has a few including [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGE381tbQa8 "Gospel"]] Creepy heart murder!
** The sequel video, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qFF2v8VsaA Emperor's New Clothes]], is full of this as the singer is dropped into Hell and morphed into a sadistic demon.
* Papa Roach: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjQvk_R20r4 "Hollywood Whore"]] begins with the title character "passed out on the floor" as per the lyrics, but towards the end, she rises, somewhat shaky. Then she begins to cry blood from one eye, which catches on fire and burns the flesh off her skull as she projectile-vomits blood. It dances on the edge of {{Narm}}.
* Music/ThePaperChase: The song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb_pRAiZ2vo "Said the Spider to the Fly"]] is creepy enough on its own, but the music video really takes it up a notch. It features headless people, a man being buried alive, and John Congleton singing directly to the camera as the screen flashes and glitches. It's unsettling, to say the least.
* Music/PearlJam:
** The video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDaOgu2CQtI Do the Evolution]]". Its extreme use of HumansAreBastards displays nothing but horrible atrocities and horrific images of abuse against... well... everything.
** The video for "[[http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xq5u6_pearl-jam-jeremy_music Jeremy]]" can be equally disturbing, what with the way the video was shot, [[NightmareFace Eddie Vedder's creepy expression]], and the video's premise and DownerEnding.
*** MTV decided to cut a certain scene from the video where Jeremy stands in front of the class, [[AteHisGun puts the gun in his mouth]], [[GoryDiscretionShot and the class ends up coated in blood.]] With this (slightly confusing) scene cut, the ending becomes very vague; they show Jeremy with the gun, but they didn't show him put it in his mouth. Without prior knowledge of the story behind the song, and without watching the cut scene, the ending may make it look like Jeremy shot his classmates, which can be just as disturbing.
*** What makes this even scarier is that it was a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richardson_High_School#Jeremy_Delle_suicide true story]].
* Music/KatyPerry's videos are the kind of things that leave you thinking "WTF?", but they're usually just silly. And then comes [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5Sd5c4o9UM E.T.]] ''Dear Lord!'' We have unsettling transformations, footage of animals humping and dying, disturbing aliens, bucket loads of UnfortunateImplications (which seem to have been intentional) and at the end Katy takes off her dress to reveal she has the hind quarters of a deer!
** This video was directed by Floria Sigismondi, well known for her work on some of Marilyn Manson's videos. Now it should all make sense.
* Music/TomPetty:
** "[[https://youtu.be/h0JvF9vpqx8 Don't Come Around Here No More]]" is like Alice in Wonderland on LSD! The ending with Alice being a cake and being sliced up is truly horrifying!
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aowSGxim_O8 Mary Jane's Last Dance]]" has Tom Petty as a morgue worker who steals the corpse of a beautiful woman (played by Kim Basinger) and takes it home with him, which he dresses up, eats with, and does other things to, before finally dumping her in the ocean. The worst part? At the end, she opens her eyes.
* Music/{{Pink}}:
** The video for "Fuckin' Perfect" has a scene with a girl in a blood-filled bathtub who has just cut herself multiple times. That's understating it, she didn't just cut herself, she carved the word "perfect" into her arm, with what look like half inch deep cuts.
** In the video for Pink's song "Please Don't Leave Me", the boyfriend tries to leave and the girl character goes Creator/StephenKing on him, starting with ''Literature/{{Misery}}'' and ending with an AxCrazy bit from ''Film/TheShining''. The more psycho the girl goes, the more her make-up goes MonsterClown, until she looks horribly like Pennywise from ''Literature/It''.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jdjtqu3XK4U "Funhouse"]]. Even those not afraid of clowns, may find those are really creepy.
* Music/PinkFloyd, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCMHmDnfD6I "The Trial"]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARXKvVeVtXg "Empty Spaces" isn't much better]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJUuDoRZpyU Oh, and "Goodbye Blue Sky"]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR5ApYxkU-U "Another Brick in the Wall"]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1KXIaNbToQ "Welcome to the Machine"]]. That skull will haunt you forever. Not to mention the bleeding buildings.
* Planet P's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svl1t4b1RD4 "Why Me"]] takes the song's already-intense paranoia and turns it up to eleven. Even so - sweet baby Buddha, that astronaut's poor girl ...
* Music/PorcupineTree: The title track off of ''Fear of a Blank Planet'' is already creepy enough as a SanitySlippageSong from the viewpoint of a overmedicated, media overloaded teenager. The video features BrainwashedAndCrazy [[CreepyChild Creepy Children]] with GlowingEyesofDoom, [[BrokenSmile Broken Smiles]] or blank expressions doing a [[{{Gorn}} variety of destructive things]] while the music video continually moves from surreal image to [[MindScrew surreal image]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr_z9j2btNg "Strip the Soul"]] can give Music/{{Tool}} a run for their money in the SurrealHorror department.
* Music/{{Primus}}: "Mr. Krinkle" from their dark and disturbing 1993 album Pork Soda. The song itself is terrifying already, with its ominous vibe and menacing upright bass sounds, but the video is a whole other level of scary. Les Claypool is in a dimly lit abandoned warehouse and playing his bass while wearing a fatsuit and a very unnerving pig mask. Behind him, a very strange circus walks in and out of the picture. With most other songs, this could've been hilarious, but with "Mr. Kringle", it's nightmarish.
* Project Pitchfork: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aJ85G81m70 "Lament"]]. Think "Music/BadRomance" on crack. Alternates between a cabaret party where the guests wear kabuki masks, Peter Stilles with creepy hair and facial expressions performing increasingly contorted dance moves, and the masqueraders dancing along with him, ending with Peter apparently going into convulsions and the dancers dropping dead one by one.
* Music/PussycatDolls [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpGFhuokOXw "Whatcha Think About That"]] is almost on a par with Music/{{Kesha}} for NightmareFuel. It's extremely disturbing according to feedback from various fansites about the Dolls.
* Music/{{Queens Of The Stone Age}}: Oh boy.
** "Feel Good Hit Of The Summer" has some odd visuals, but the overall grim and trippy tone make it fairly scary.
** "No One Knows", one of their more well-known songs, doesn't actually have all that scary of a music video, aside from the part where [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment the band runs over a deer, which then proceeds to get back up, beat the shit out of them, and hang their heads on its wall.]]
** "The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret" has what appears to be a sex change operation, from some odd perspectives.
** The song AND video for "Burn The Witch". The name says enough.
** "Sick, Sick, Sick". Are you into vore? No? How about cannibalism? Not that, either? Then stay the fuck away from this music video.
** The video for "Go With The Flow" is mainly done in black, white and red, and aside from maybe a scene or two with roadkill, nothing creepy really happens. [[NightmareFace Until they show how Josh Homme's face looks in this format.]]
** The album "...Like Clockwork" has some awesome yet creepily stylised music videos.
* Music/{{Radiohead}}:
** "[[https://vimeo.com/57209346 There There]]", specially the conclusion, where Thom Yorke is slowly and painfully turned into a tree. (The song starts kind of normal, but gets creepier as it goes on...)
** Two more Radiohead video examples: "Just", where a man lies down on the middle of the street for no reason, and when pushed to tell, causes everyone in hearing shot to lie down as well; and "Pyramid Song", where a CGI stick figure in a world where everything's underwater goes on a deep diving mission to find his old city. He finds his old house, sits in his old chair, and disconnects the oxygen tube.
** The video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQBDsNiCCNM Like Spinning Plates]]", too; it features complex, alien machinery, complete with a giant centrifuge that (quite literally) pulls apart the ribcages of two Siamese twin infants. This is made even creepier by the fact that it happens with no blood or gore - the bones just sort of lift themselves out as if the skin were some kind of ghostly material...
** "Paranoid Android". The fat man in bondage gear losing his arms and legs will haunt you until the day you die. Not to mention the man with the [[BodyHorror second head coming out of his stomach]].
** The video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5CVsCnxyXg No Surprises]]" shows Thom Yorke trapped inside a pressure-suit/glass-aquarium which is slowly filling up with water until he is fully submerged (and presumably cannot escape) until the water suddenly rushes out. [[SchmuckBait Just try holding your breath along with him, once, if you dare]].
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ1iMQA0egc "Knives Out"]] video contains a lot of strange imagery as well, such as a woman's head on a giant Operation game table, images on a TV screen where Thom Yorke's head is replaced by a giant heart, a scene in which his feet are replaced by cooked chickens and being cut up, and an image of his face on a mouse's body.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI2oS2hoL0k "Burn the Witch"]]. Think of it as ''Film/TheWickerMan1973'' [[JustForFun/XMeetsY meets]] ''Trumpton''. [[SubvertedKidsShow Complete with everything that entails.]]
* Music/{{Rammstein}}:
** "Mann gegen Mann" drove more than a pure soul to madness. "Mein Teil" is... just... creepy. And for God's sake, "Sonne!" You'll never look at Snow White in the same way.
** "Benzin" was also pretty creepy, as was "Du Riechst so Gut."
** "Mein Teil" was more than 'just creepy'; it's like a trailer for a psychological horror film. And "Mein Herz Brennt" - there's something seriously unnerving about that whole thing...
*** It doesn't help that "Mein Teil" was inspited by [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes this incident.]]
* Music/TheRasmus: What's your flavor? [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri4VMe4nc4M Chained to a chair, imaginary friends around you, drowning in your own black tears.]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ao2u7F_Qzg Seeing things in the mirror, only to find out they've been after you all along.]] Or maybe [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSjGc9hN0o0 being turned into a statue of sand, alongside your friends, and you all break into pieces?]]
* Ratatat: Although an otherwise excellent song, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLUthOxfpMo "Shempi"]] will leave you cringing. As if ABBA wasn't horrifying enough back when their faces were right-side up...
* Music/LouReed's "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMIgZmmO1c4 No Money Down]]" video involves a remarkably realistic-looking (but not realistic-enough-looking) Lou Reed robot that stands smack-dab square in the middle of the UncannyValley. This is bad enough, but the point in the video where the Reedbot slowly removes his sunglasses and then proceeds to tear his/its own face off will haunt you for a very long time. Hearing him sing about heroin addiction and S&M with the Velvet Underground is idyllic in comparison.
* Music/REOSpeedwagon: "I Do' Wanna Know" in which the main character dies; when he makes it to heaven, he's abruptly expelled for some trivial offense and dropped into hell. There he's offered a demon costume (which will presumably turn him into a demon); when he refuses, Satan orders him to be hit by a huge hammer which apparently squashes him into nothingness.
* Music/BustaRhymes: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHHT7dTmw8U "Gimme Some More"]] is... rather eccentric. It contains some pretty disturbing scenes, among which a young Busta transforming into a monster and chasing a woman around, and the video itself feels quite a bit like an actual nightmare. The heavily distorted camera lens does not help, nor does the less-than-pleasant cliffhanger the video ends on (the woman trapped on top of a refrigerator with the monster getting closer and closer).
* Music/{{Rihanna}}:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1mU6h4Xdxc Disturbia]]" lives up to its name, carrying a definite insane asylum of horrors theme throughout.
** It's one-upped by "Bitch Better Have My Money", which gets a ContentWarning for [[ClusterFBomb language]], [[FanDisservice nudity]], and [[ColdBloodedTorture violence]]. It opens with her kidnapping her accountant's wife and torturing her, hoping that he'll follow through with her ransom. He doesn't pay up, and uses the money to party and cheat on his wife. Rihanna then decides to torture him ''Series/{{Dexter}}'' style. [[AssholeVictim It's all but outright stated he didn't survive]]. Who knew Rihanna could get so AxCrazy?
* The Romantics video [[https://youtu.be/JmGMzyajA2U "Talking in your sleep"]] has a creepy vibe to it, four guys walking around in the dark molesting and gawking at half naked women while holding flash lights gives off an ick factor.
* San Cisco: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h32_wNcjLZA "Wild Things"]]. It starts with the band's lead singer, Jordi, and drummer/vocalist, Scarlett, being captured by a mob of children (and the guitarists, Nick and Josh) who all wear costumes and paint. The kids tie Jordi and Scarlett to a post, and for most of the video it looks like it's just a game... until the end, when the kids soak them in gasoline and set them alight. What arguably makes the ending worse is that there's no reaction: nobody's cheering or looking horrified, the kids just repeat the line 'try to stay away from where the wild things play' over and over as they watch Scarlett and Jordi burn to death. What arguably makes it worse is the bit where just before they catch fire, Scarlett and Jordi [[TearJerker close their eyes and grab each other's hands.]]
* Music/{{Sepultura}}: "Convicted in Life." It starts with a first-person view of a person running through a dark forest, running across a path of corpses. The rest of the video features a man literally ripping the heart out of a dead body, real clips of animal mutilation (including pigs being beheaded and being carried over a room filled with blood), a man hanging himself in a prison cell, and other scary stuff. The video ends with hundreds of zombies ripping off Derrick Green's head; the final shot is his headless body carrying the head.
* Music/TupacShakur: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCEmTaWSPTk "Trapped"]]. He really doesn't gloss over how horrifying American prisons are known to be.
* Music/SigurRos: "Vaka". Terrible nuclear [[CrapsackWorld dystopian future]], deep depressing music, KickTheDog moments everywhere, and the implication that this is a very real possibility.
* The Skeptics: The otherwise awesome [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyjVGlQdt2k&list=HL1355715512&index=9 "AFFCO"]]. Factory farming just sucks. The lead singer covered in bloody plastic wrap is unsettling as well. And the [[ScareChord Scare Chord]] when the nastiness starts...
* Slash: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SZrJLMTO-8 You're a Lie]] depicts a woman undergoing a very rapid, and very nasty, mental and [[BodyHorror physical]] breakdown, as if suffering all the symptoms of a chronic illness in the span of two minutes. The highlight would have to be when what appear to be intestines burst out of her chest.
* Music/{{Slayer}}: "Eyes of the Insane" is a first person view of war reflected though the iris of a soldier. Visions of explosions and dead people are relatively scary, but when the soldier is caught in an explosion, he closes his eye as the dust covers him. He wakes up to find that he is being operated on. The way the eye looks during his surgery is incredibly disturbing and what's more, they send his ass back on the field. Naturally, he is DrivenToSuicide, which is actually shown reflected in his eye. You see the reflection of his military base swing back and forth and can hear the creaks of the rope as he hangs.
* Music/{{Slipknot}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPUZwriSX4M "Spit It Out"]] music video, which parodies ''Film/TheShining''.
* Music/TheSmashingPumpkins:
** The video for "Try Try Try" is extremely disturbing. It tells the story of two homeless young adults, a man and a woman. The woman is pregnant. The woman gives a guy a blowjob for money so they can buy heroin. They shoot heroin in a bathroom, and they pass out. The girl has a distorted "Black Hole Sun" like fantasy sequence with oversaturated colors, exaggerated smiles, and people shooting each other and vomiting. Then we go back to reality and we see that the girl has miscarried, she's rushed to the hospital, and it ends with her boyfriend finding her and both of them tearfully embracing. All this intercut with Billy Corgan crying tears of blood. The 15-minute [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj9x6kUJX98 short film version]] is much more nightmare inducing, especially considering [[spoiler: she dies at the end]]. Even the heroin trip scene is creepier!
* Socalled: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_QZNtflyJA "You Are Never Alone"]]. The singer dissecting his own semi-robotical face while still having to mimic the lyrics is extremely UncannyValley-rific.
* Music/SpiceGirls: There's something rather creepy about the ending of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wkuqRFXNvI "Viva Forever"]] video, where the kid gets imprisoned in a shrinking Rubik's Cube.
** To say nothing of the appearance of the Spice Girls as stop motion-animated [[TheFairFolk fairies]], that goad/convince the kid into playing around with the cube that eventually traps him.
*** The fact the Spice Girls as fairies have psychotic and evil smiles while trapping the boy in the rubik's cube makes the situation more creepy.
* The Squirrel Nut Zippers: The video for "The Ghost of Stephen Foster" specifically mimics creepy old-timey cartoons like the weird Fleischer Brothers Betty Boop ones, focusing in this case on a couple getting stuck in a HellHotel that gets progressively scarier throughout the video. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJzWGkgFcTU Watch and quake in fear.]] It's not helped by the fact that the song is disturbing all by itself, with its combination of bombastic and eerie instrumental work, strangely unsettling lyrics, and haunting vocals. Bonus goosepimples for use of Camptown Races.
* Music/{{Soundgarden}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mbBbFH9fAg "Black Hole Sun"]]. Such a great song, but the video has one creepy-looking lady watching the pot boil over...even WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButthead panicked. Similar fuel later with Lipstick Lady, but you're probably a bit desensitized by then. The melting Barbies. And the stretchy faces.
** The little girl with the ice cream dripping out of her mouth with her having a sinister look on her face is scary!
*** Speaking of Soundgarden, does anyone remember the video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14r7y6rM6zA "Jesus Christ Pose"]]?
* Steriogram: "Walkie Talkie Man" must have caused a few nightmares. A massive doll-man thrusts his hand through the studio wall and tears the lead singer in half, exposing realistic organs (or as realistic as knitted ones can be) and oozing yarn blood. It's okay, though, they stitch him up again -- backwards. Freaky.
* Supergrass: "Mary" has a video intended to parody "VideoNasties" of the '70s and '80s, with scenes such as a mother projectile vomiting over her children at the dinner table and a woman drowning in [[BloodBath a bath full of blood]].
* Swervedriver: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFW1Hu35tsw "Last Train to Satansville"]] seems to take place at an AmusementParkOfDoom of some sort.
* Music/SystemOfADown:
** The music video for Serj Tankian's "Empty Walls" features the lead singer parading around a CircusOfFear with a bizarre, sociopathic look on his face, wearing a Svengali-esque costume, while various small children play happily...or, according to some viewers, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything reenact the War on Terror]]; with one kid throws a model plane into another's jenga tower, one [[SuicideAttack drives a car into a building with a confetti "explosion"]], and everyone in the play house gets gunned down with silly string. Pretty creepy.
** Another video for a song entitled "We are One" featuring both himself and experimental guitarist Music/{{Buckethead}}, which depicts the stories of the various dead things that Buckethead uses to make a FrankensteinsMonster which, when reanimated, does the same to him.
** And then there's [[https://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=serjtankian&p=r the rest of his videos]]. Check the end off the official "Sky Is Over" video, or most of "Lie Lie Lie" (which he says was supposed to be lighthearted!), and 'The Unthinking Majority' is almost bizarre. And all with that creepy feeling...
* Thompson Twins video [[https://youtu.be/APyl6Cnbfzw "Doctor Doctor"]] has a creepy and sinister vibe to it.
* Therapy?: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH_yivWallk Teethgrinder]]" is filled with all kinds of creepy visuals, one of the scariest being the singing woman with teeth that have been ground to ''stubs''.
%%* Music/ThreeDaysGrace: All of these are Administrivia/ZeroContextExamples.
%%** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqds0B_meys "Animal I Have Become"]] video.
%%** What about [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL2ZwXj1tXM "Never Too Late"]]? Creepy as heck.
%%* Music/{{Tiesto}}: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCg3ufihKyU "The Business"]] is disturbing.
* Title Fight: The video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD-lqmIBNr8 "Secret Society"]] ([[NotSafeForWork NSFW]]) is about a [[{{Yandere}} preteen girl]] who tries to confess her love to a biker [[LikesOlderMen who looks to be in his 20s]], only for her to discover that the biker has an (of-age) girlfriend. The preteen goes home heartbroken, tears up her room in a rage, and decides to [[IfICantHaveYou kidnap the biker and]] ''[[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior stab]]'' him repeatedly to death as [[SceneryDissonance images of flowers flash in the background.]] She then cuts off his face and wears it like a mask while splattering blood all over the walls as the band rocks out in the background. Adding to the creepy atmosphere is that the video was filmed on [[AnalogHorror VHS]].
* Tobacco: [[http://youtu.be/aV7VNhzFLOQ "Streaker"]] (beyond [[NotSafeForWork NSFW]]) begins with a man with a CreepyMonotone and a SinisterMinister vibe introducing you to his "Ultima II Massage" parlor, and quickly turns into an orgy of nude people in hideous masks jerking and gyrating while seizure-causing lights flash across the screen and trippy camera effects give an unearthly feel to everything. Brought to you by [[Creator/TimAndEric Eric Wareheim]] so you know it's going to be messed up ahead of time.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE6vgKrdHzk Babysitter feat. Trent Reznor.]] You will never look at [[Film/{{TheNeverendingStory}} Falkor]] normally again.
* The US video for Titan's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZuCTorDRwI "Corazon"]]. It's just a normal fun concert video until they drag a bunch of people backstage, drug them, and grind them up into Titan Dogs.
* Music/{{Tool}}:
** Some of them, like "Schism", starring ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhjG47gtMCo naked albinos removing their body parts]]''.
** Just try watching [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hglVqACd1C8 "Sober"]] at night...
** And then there's the video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5sIXUbMgF0 "Prison Sex"]]. There's a reason it still provides the page pic up there. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LhObXjghLg Though thankfully]] this one (and "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJmwwQD-Wy8 Sober]]") also has some NightmareRetardant thanks to a video with WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtHead commentary.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_TUP2vuaDs "Vicarious"]]. Humanoid creatures with see-thru skin and curious-faced little worms that exit their eyeballs and go exploring? It gives genuine nightmares.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07pLGIgyfjw "Stinkfist"]] is almost indescribable. Non-stop BodyHorror. Things moving under the skin. Raw flesh. Strange biomechanical devices.
* Devin Townsend: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-DKs0qfdEk "Juular"]] is not really scary but rather more disturbing if you've never seen or heard anything else done by him, unless you're into that sorta thing...
* Grzegorz Turnau: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m98MBACe1xk "Cichosza"]], with a music video that features DerangedAnimation of a trench-coated spy walking around unnatural-looking black-and-white photos and unsuccessfully trying to interact with unmoving people. A lot of the comments on the video note how creepy it was to see this on TV when you were a child.
* Twin Crystals: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvuEopceHqU "Two Girls"]]. It is disturbing enough viewed without context, but is made even more horrible when you realize that the footage was taken from records of an actual experiment. They actually did that to a dog. Several dogs, in fact. And unlike the ending of the film shows, it's highly unlikely that any of the dogs recovered fully from "revival" or survived at all. Oh [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experiments_in_the_Revival_of_Organisms Sergei Bryukhonenko]], you crazy psycho. The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qa_WR4pX88 real music video]] for Two Girls is a little easier on the brain than seeing it being synced to the dog experiment. It's still NightmareFuel material though-- creepy faceless entities stop-motion dancing around a blacklight room and the singers wearing glowing macaroni-art masks.
* Music/TwistedSister: The music video for "Silver Bells" is, for the most part, pretty funny. That is until we cut to the baby...who has Dee Snider's face [[http://www.myplay.com/files/brightcove_stills/505028_52641010001.jpg masked over it!]] Uncanney Valley incarnate.
* Bonnie Tyler's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcOxhH8N3Bo Total Eclipse of the Heart]] has creepy kids with [[EyeScream blank white, glowing eyes]] that show up every so often. At 3:27 there's even a dozen of them in an eerie altar.
* Ultravox:
** "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" follows the moments up to a ''nuclear meltdown''. [[UsefulNotes/{{Chernobyl}} Two years before it happened for real.]]
** Arachnophobes are advised to avoid the music video for "Vienna." A tarantula crawls over a man's face. Even without the sinister atmosphere of the song, it's incredibly disturbing.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgF_FFBpfbk "Writing on the Walls"]] by Underoath. The music video takes place in a house that has a wall removed so that you can see the inside. [[MindScrew That's the only part of the music video that makes sense.]] Highlights include random close-ups of a woman's terrified face (said woman is wearing UncannyValleyMakeup for added effect), ''an apparent murder'', and several really creepy scenes where a guy who looked dead got up and hit his head on the walls for no real reason before lying down again.
* Chad Van Gaalen: The music video for the song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLw5b70OJH8 "Molten Light"]] is quite terrifying in many ways. To the two weirdos ripping a woman's heart out and then feasting on it, people melting for no reason, weird imagery that makes no sense at all and the woman's ghost turning into some kind of horrible bloated monster makes it all into one trippy nightmare. It can almost seem like it was made with this trope in mind, considering that it is animated too.
* Music/VenetianSnares: "Find Candace" suits this trope quite well.
* Music/{{Vocaloid}}. Want more examples? [[NightmareFuel/{{Vocaloid}} Here you go.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVFfeTIWWco Fear Garden]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU6PL0LH4_Y Dark Woods Circus]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptzb_s83jdU Alice Human Sacrifice]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyx6LKtSr6s Circle you, Circle you...]] A lot of Vocaloid videos are fan made, so you could blame them for it...
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGMO1ko5EuM Wide Knowledge of the Late, Madness]]". It start off all cute and relaxing, and then about two minutes in, you hear the chainsaw. [[spoiler:And it's the prequel for the Dark Woods Circus above.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6M2ppKwuZY Here's a lovely video]] from the creator of "Machine Muzik"
** The video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPuvmAFlklA "Bacterial Contamination"]]. The song is great but the video... Some commenters said it actually ''did'' give them nightmares. What's worse is the picture of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acc0O0q-_DU Sukone Tei]], who looks [[NightmareFace scary]]
* Music/TomWaits: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqOm78Vvg3wI Don't Want To Grow Up]]" and "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9mhsW5aWJM God's Away On Business]]". It doesn't help that Tom Waits' singing voice is such that he could make "Happy Birthday" sound like a death threat.
* Music/KanyeWest:
** The video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgEjy_JWZys Monster]]" includes corpses of woman either hanging from the ceiling (by the neck) or in the bed with said rapper, Kanye holding a woman's decapitated head from the hair, humanoid monsters either trying to break into the mansion to eat West or feasting on another man's corpse, which is quite detailed. If all they wanted to do was to make the video disturbing then they succeeded.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q604eed4ad0 Black Skinhead]]", through and through. It features a fairly realistic CG model of Kanye, which still looks ''just'' off enough to flirt with the uncanny valley.
* Music/RobbieWilliams: This one is already in the BodyHorror section of the site, but the full version of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnO3nijfYmU "Rock DJ"]] music video deserves a mention here (strip-tease that evolves into skin and muscles). The music video of "Radio" is also quite disturbing especially when we see Robbie [[ScaledUp becoming quite snake-like]] during the part near the end.
* Hawksley Workman: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrc2wATvHF4 "Striptease"]] is a magical wonderland of surreal camera angles, sped-up movements that look disjointed and unnatural, and a man whose singing -- visually, at least -- is disturbingly reminiscent of someone screaming in pain. Watch it, and see if you don't shudder.
* VAST: "Pretty When You Cry" is disturbing on multiple levels. A drugged girl, a serial killer, bizarre images including Little Red Riding Hood imagery and a hallway full of arms coming out of the walls, the serial killer being killed by the young girl who beecame an old woman and then reawakening, and then... it starts all over again. Check it out [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOZ6ptqcbUc here.]]
* {{Music/X Japan}}:
** [[http://youtu.be/0Ja7H5_Kxu0 Week End]]: While the effects are old (some, especially the blood, almost to the degree of SpecialEffectsFailure), the video depicts a chain of murder and suicide (one of which is ''extremely'' HarsherInHindsight as of 2011), and the lyrics are about an insane killer initiating the CycleOfRevenge the video depicts. Which is pretty deep for an upbeat-sounding glam-rock song...
** [[http://youtu.be/aP5U5xCoUwg White Poem]]. Like extreme BDSM + an acid trip? Then this won't be NightmareFuel (and could be fetish appeal instead). Otherwise, this will haunt your nightmares... it is a more "trippy" take on Happiness In Slavery mentioned above...
** Dahlia (which cannot be linked as per content guidelines) itself isn't ''that'' nightmarish of a song, but the video implies the torture and captivity of a young girl, as she struggles to escape from her confinement. It's fairly obviously intended as an artistic statment of pain and desire to escape from pain, but...
* Music/YeahYeahYeahs: "Y Control". Little children dragging around a dead dog and dismembering each other while Karen O dances around is surprisingly unsettling.
* Music/{{Yeasayer}}: [[http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/video/2010/aug/13/yeasayer-madder-red This ... thing]] from the "Madder Red" video. It's like a human potato morph thing that oozes and spits up blood.
* VIXX's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOG7BexjPjM Voodoo Doll.]] The video is disturbing enough as is, easily rated 19, but by South Korean standards? Way over the edge. The boys are all captured by some crazy woman, and though you don't see most of what happens, the very first scene of the video is a line being drawn on skin, and it being cut open. And it's a close up. Cut to random other gross items, and then the skin is being stapled back together. And that's just in the first ten SECONDS of the video.
* Frank Zappa's video [[https://youtu.be/oblbLHYu6uY You are what you is"]] is a bit nightmarish.
* Valentino Khan's video [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wl5BbUg05M "Deep Down Low"]] involves a guy hallucinating a waitress having tentacles sprout out of her eyes and all his other patrons of the restaurant he's in turning into TheBlank, and becoming one as well at the end.
* For now, the name of this one (rather trippy) animated music video is unknown, but there are definitely creepy clips in it: One scene involves a teen boy working at a fast food place [[TooDumbToLive stupidly sticking his head into a machine]] [[CantYouReadTheSign that had a sign that explicitly says]] something among the lines of "DO NOT STICK YOUR HEAD IN HERE", and he emerges with a shredded head. Another scene involves a lady getting hit by a car, causing her to undergo reconstructive surgery and then emerge incredibly buff and muscular.
* [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V_L-miRT16s Meneo - Birth of the Santa Nalga]] (SEXUAL & EPILEPSY WARNING) serves as a good example to not do drugs when making a music video. It has flashy and distorted visuals, and is downright disturbing. On the contrary, the music is good.
