Each time the little grandmas displayed change costume according to the upgrade (for example, buy the one that increases the mines' CPS, and some of your grandmas will dress as miners). So far so good... Until you get the "portal" upgrade, called "altered grandmas", which turn some of them into deformed lumps of flesh...
