* Samuels of ''VideoGame/AlienIsolation'' is extremely polite and helpfully subservient to, well, just about everybody. [[spoiler:This is [[{{Foreshadowing}} the player's first clue]] to the fact that there's something not quite normal about him.]]
* ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'', [[SugarBowl by its very nature]], is full of characters that are (almost) all varying degrees of nice, but some standout examples of nice characters are:
** The Lazy and Normal villagers are the nicest of the male and female villager personalities, respectively. They are pleasant and easy to talk to, and rarely get mad at anyone. The Normal villagers are very motherly towards the player, and the Lazy villagers often look up to the player as an older sibling. They are the personalities that are least likely to want to move away from the player's town or island.
** Isabelle, who works as the mayor's secretary in ''New Leaf'' and as Tom Nook's assistant in ''New Horizons'' once the Resident Services tent upgrades into a proper building. Despite being a bit [[CuteClumsyGirl clumsy]] at times, she is a hard-working shih-tzu who is also incredibly eager to help players out, which is a part of what helped contribute to her status as a SeriesMascot.
** Tom Nook, a tanuki who is also one of the three characters considered to be the [[SeriesMascot series mascots]]. His TaremeEyes help give off a friendly and relaxed impression, and while he's [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation commonly seen as a ruthless loan shark]], it's worth noting that he charges no interest in his home loans, gives you as much time as you need to repay him, and instantly gives you a job without an interview, or without reviewing qualifications or references, in order to pay it off. Additionally, dialogue from certain villager personalities implies that he adopted his twin assistants, Timmy and Tommy, while they were street-living orphans and took them in under his care. In ''New Leaf'', he can sometimes be seen in the Roost café once it is built, considering ordering coffee for other characters in appreciation for their hard work. In ''New Horizons'', he invents a fake currency, known as Nook Miles, in order to help the player pay off their initial getaway package fee much easier and to incentivize enjoying island life over worrying about material goods. He also names the first human player on the island as Resident Representative, showing his trust in their intuition as to the improvement of the island. His greater presence in ''New Horizons'' helps players see far more of his good nature than in other games.
** K.K. Slider, a dog who is also one of the three characters considered to be the [[SeriesMascot series mascots]]. He is a travelling musician whose greatest wish is to share his music with the whole world. He's extremely [[EruditeStoner laid-back]] and, on each of his visits to the player's town or island, he will give them a free aircheck of the first song they request that night, provided that song has an aircheck.
** Rover, a travelling cat who greets the player in ''Animal Crossing'' (GCN), ''City Folk'', and ''New Leaf'', as the very first character they see in those games. His friendly demeanor is very effective in helping the player get comfortable with the games.
** Mabel, a hedgehog who works as the clerk at Able Sisters. She's incredibly friendly, energetic, and outgoing. Her sisters, Sable [[spoiler:and Label,]] are also fairly nice, if a bit shy at first.
** Pelly the pelican, who [[SiblingYinYang greatly contrasts with her sister, Phyllis]]. She works the day shift at the post office, and is kind and outgoing.
** Phineas, a kind and elderly [[SweetSeal sea lion]]. In ''City Folk'', he appears occasionally at a prize stand in the city and hands out round balloons, bunny-shaped balloons, pinwheels, and bubble wands for free, considering the smiles of children as payment enough for his work. In ''New Leaf'', he appears in the player's town when the weather is favorable and hands out badges in recognition of the player's various achievements.
** Leif, a sloth who adores plants and always sells his goods with a smile on his face. His speech mannerisms are a shout-out to ''Series/TheJoyOfPainting'', and the only time he's ever seen sleeping is after passing out if the player's town is full of weeds, which he loathes.
** Harvey (or Harv for short) is a cocker spaniel who, though a little [[CloudCuckoolander scatterbrained]], is extremely laid-back and easygoing, much like K.K. Slider. He's often seen with birds comfortably perched on his head and hanging out around him. He's also quite the nature lover. His goods in ''New Leaf'' require MEOW coupons, which are not a traditional currency and are instead simply earned via various tasks and milestones, and he will also offer the player Setsubun beans if talked to while he's feeding birds. In ''New Horizons'', the player can visit his photo studio, Photopia, at any time for free.
* You'd be surprised, but Connor Kenway of ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedIII'' is, despite [[ProfessionalKiller his profession]], a genuinely lovely young man. He's meek, he's idealistic, he's kind to animals, and he's passionate about making sure anyone he considers a friend is happy and well looked after regardless of their station or societal relationship with him. Now, [[VillainProtagonist compare]] [[{{Jerkass}} and]] [[OnlyInItForTheMoney contrast]] with [[VideoGame/AssassinsCreedIVBlackFlag his grandfather]]...
* ''VideoGame/BendyAndTheInkMachine'':
** Although Allison [[GoodIsNotSoft takes Henry captive]], she's nice about it. She has friendly conversations with Henry while he's locked up, gives him a cool seeing tool she found while she was exploring, and tries to help him escape from the Ink Demon. After Henry frees himself and encounters her again, she's a genuine ally.
** Boris shelters Henry and accompanies him throughout Chapter 3, despite having lived in an EldritchLocation for who-knows-how-long.
** Henry is just a normal guy trying to survive his extremely bizarre and terrifying situation. He apologizes for having to [[spoiler: kill Jack Fain to get a valve]] and only ever hurts anyone else in self-defense. He doesn't even try to go after [[spoiler: the crazy Alice who is trying to kill him.]]
** While a bit cynical, Sammy Lawrence was still a relatively hard-working and polite guy. WordOfGod describes him as a "decent" person. Or at least, Sammy was like this before his SanitySlippage.
** Before her SanitySlippage, Susie Campbell sounds quite friendly and nice in her recordings.
* ''Franchise/BlazBlue'''s got a bunch of folks of decent temperament, to contrast the [[WorldOfJerkass generally cruel]] [[CrapsackWorld world]], though some take a bit of work to get through their emotional defenses. Bad things tend to happen to them a lot, however. Whether it's [[HiddenHeartOfGold Ragna]], [[ChivalrousPervert Kagura]], [[WideEyedIdealist Noel, Bang]], [[GentleGiant Tager]], [[FunPersonified Makoto]] or even {{Antivillain}}s like [[ForcedIntoEvil Litchi]] and [[BrainwashedAndCrazy Tsubaki]], one can find someone who can lend them a shoulder if they know how to get to them. It's not just these examples, either -- generally, any named character (and even some unnamed ones) are people you won't be blamed for wanting to hang around with unless they go by the names [[AxCrazy Yuuki]] [[{{Troll}} Terumi]], [[ArchnemesisDad Relius]] [[MadScientist Clover]], [[PuppetKing Imperator Librarius]] [[spoiler:([[StrawNihilist Hades]] [[OmnicidalManiac Izanami]])]], or [[BloodKnight Azrael]].
* Mr. Torgue from the ''VideoGame/{{Borderlands 2}}'' DLC ''Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage''.
--> "'''''[[NoIndoorVoice NOTHING IS MORE BADASS THAN TREATING A WOMAN WITH RESPECT.]]'''''"
* ''VideoGame/BugFables'': [[FaceOfAThug Despite his intimidating "shadowed face" look,]] Kabbu is a kind, polite, selfless hero who wants to help people for helping people's sake. [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness The few times he gets genuinely angry at someone or something, there's a good reason for it.]]
* Princess Aurora from ''VideoGame/ChildOfLight'' is generally a very kind and compassionate girl, [[BewareTheNiceOnes unless you try to hurt her, her friends, or other innocent lives]].
* There are a lot of good people in ''VideoGame/DeadOrAlive'', but they all invariably qualify as BewareTheNiceOnes as they are trained fighters. There's [[MartialPacifist Kasumi]], [[TheAloner Hayate]], [[AllAmericanFace Tina]], [[AnimeChineseGirl Lei Fang]], [[CuteBruiser Hitomi]], Eliot, [[YamatoNadeshiko Kokoro]], [[SpiritedCompetitor Mila]], [[{{Miko}} Momiji]], [[CoolBigSis Rachel]] and [[RoseHairedSweetie Honaka]].
* ''VideoGame/DetectivesUnited'': Agent Shade, who serves as MissionControl for the eponymous agency, is unfailingly polite and sweet, and repeatedly shows that she's genuinely concerned with the well-being of the three detectives.
* ''VideoGame/DiceyDungeons'': Unlike his two sisters, Ned never has an unkind word to say about anyone and spends all his time giving gifts or services to the other monsters to brighten their day.
* In ''VideoGame/DigimonStoryCyberSleuth'', Aiba's sprites, default dialogue choices and other characters' reactions to their behaviour suggest that s/he is a sociable, idealistic and helpful person.
* After recruiting Iscarion the archer early in ''VideoGame/TheDioFieldChronicle'', a nameless mercenary confronts main protagonist Andrias at the player's base, because Iscarion is genuinely kind and thoughtful to everyone...and that's what the nameless mercenary was known for in their mercenary unit and he feels like he's being replaced. He then adds that he tried confronting Iscarion about it directly, but Iscarion reassured him that his contributions to the group were still meaningful and he was an invaluable member, with Iscarion's niceness towards him leaving him infuriated.
* Flonne from ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' is the kindest and most caring angel you'll ever meet [[LoveFreak talking about love]].
* ''Franchise/{{Dishonored}}'':
** The aging boatman Samuel Beechworth and Lady Callista Curnow are the prime contenders for the Nicest Guy and Girl in the original ''VideoGame/{{Dishonored}}'', respectively. Samuel is a down-to-earth working-class man with a simple, but perfectly tuned moral compass, who will praise Corvo for going an extra mile to find non-violent approaches and dispense karmic justice on those who deserved it. Callista, meanwhile, sacrifices her own dreams to become a mother figure to the recently orphaned Emily and will actually physically fight [[spoiler:Havelock when he decides his co-conspirators have outlived their purpose and captures Emily in his own bid for power]].
** In ''VideoGame/Dishonored2'', Aramis Stilton is pretty much the only person who neither turns evil on you, nor hides some dark secret. A poor immigrant who worked his way up from a miner to millionaire, only to continue working tirelessly to improve his workers' lot... too bad he is hopelessly insane by the time you meet him. [[spoiler:If you manage to manipulate the past to prevent his insanity, he becomes one of the {{Big Good}}s of the game's ending.]]
* Alistair, from ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins,'' is about as nice as is possible to be, unless you hit his BerserkButton. Leliana is very sweet, and even Zevran, despite being an assassin hired to kill you, is good-natured and easygoing. Not coincidentally, they are three of the four potential love interests in the game.
** The nicest characters in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'' are [[CloudCuckoolander Merrill]] and [[DeadpanSnarker Varric]], mostly because Merrill doesn't really get how or why to be mean to people and Varric limits himself to poking fun. (Of course, Varric never goes anywhere without [[ICallItVera Bianca]], and we all know that ''she'' is as vicious as he is snarky.)
*** There's also the PC's sister Bethany, who very much lives up to Varric's nickname for her: Sunshine. Sebastian also counts, [[spoiler:unless Anders is spared in the endgame, wherein he declares war on Kirkwall.]]
** Cassandra from ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition'', [[GoodIsNotSoft though it's not apparent]] in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'' or at the beginning of the ''Inquisition'', is loyal, fair, and kind with all the companions and even an mage-friendly, atheist Inquisitor (if the Inquisitor doesn't attack her belief in offensive ways, she still declares her friendship and swears loyalty to him/her). Almost all her banters with other companions include at least one moment in which she tries to understand their point of view, and even apologizes in name of the Chantry and the templars for their actions. She is also quick to try to make amends for any offenses she may unwittingly give; for example, when she prods Varric to speak about Bianca, she also reveals her own past romantic history with the mage Galyan. Even though the Inquisition is her work, she has no interest in gaining any power herself, instead only wanting to help people - something that Solas find admirable and unbelievable.
** By ''Inquisition'', [[TookALevelInKindness Cullen]] has very much become one, having let go of his [[FantasticRacism past grudge against mages]] and is completely loyal even to a mage Inquisitor. [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan Fittingly enough, the third game also made him a romance option, much to his fanbase's delight]]. He no longer hates mages despite his own issues with them, and makes other ex-Templar Inquisition forces treat Inquisition mages and elves fairly. Using him to resolve certain war table quests further reveals how nice he really is. He somehow manages to get along with all of the companions as well as his fellow advisors, and even becomes good friends with Dorian, a mage from ''Tevinter'', to the point where their chess game is the only time Cullen seems to actually relax.
** The aforementioned Dorian, despite being a Tevinter mage, as well as [[TheFace Josephine]] also count. Both are unfailingly helpful and again, are romance options. Josephine is probably the game's most prominent example of a Nice Girl, being the Inquisition's [[TheFace resident diplomat]].
** And of course, it is possible to play the protagonists of all three of these games as Nice Guys/Girls, depending on your choices.
* ''VideoGame/DragonQuestV'':
** Sancho doesn't have a bad bone in his body. The only character he's ever shown getting mad at is [[TheDragon Ladja]], for good reason.
** After the first timeskip, previously bratty Prince Harry becomes a caring, selfless and kind-hearted person.
** Crispin clearly holds no ill will towards the Hero, despite him being his biggest rival for Nera's heart and potentially taking her away from him.
* ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'':
** [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure Brunwulf Free-Winter]], who becomes the Jarl of Windhelm if the Imperials win the Civil War, is probably the nicest guy in all ''Skyrim'', although [[TheAtoner Erandur]] and Erik the Slayer are also strong candidates.
** Despite his threatening sobriquet, Erik the Slayer is a cheerful and excitable young {{farm boy}} who enthusiastically dreams of adventuring and is even happy to help carry the Dragonborn's gear. Erik has a lot of fans among the female playerbase and seems almost ''too'' nice to be a feared Viking mercenary.
** Jordis the Sword-Maiden is given to you as a housecarl if you become thane of Solitude. Honest and sincere, interactions with her paint her as a utter sweetheart and cut dialogue (making her voice a popular choice for follower mods) has her give positive input into your actions, as well as jokes about you whisking her away for adventure and how she just wants to find a nice man (or woman) to marry.
** ''Dawnguard'' gives us Serana, a vampire whom the Dovahkiin finds sealed away, and snarkiness aside she is basically everything that vampires and the people in the CrapsackWorld of Tamiral are not. She's polite, supportive, a little shy, and honestly wants to help put a stop to her family. The ''Dragonborn'' DLC introduces the Skaal, a entire race of nice guys who are tough as nails Nords living a nomadic life and habitually fight off anyone attacking wanderers of Morrowind before taking these adventurers in as their own.
* ''VideoGame/TheEndTimesVermintide'': Markus Kruber is notably the only person in [[RagTagBunchofMisfits his group of survivors]] that no one has any particularly negative feelings toward, and actively tries to keep the peace when the others start bickering. A bit of FridgeBrilliance is that as an army Sergeant, Kruber's entire job is preserving unit coherency and managing people through stressful situations. This attitude reflects back on him as Saltzpyre (the grim old religious fanatic) treats him like a friend and even [[{{Jerkass}} Kerillian]] maintains a soft spot for him.
** However, [[spoiler:the demonic whispers he hears at Castle Drachenfels in the second game imply that Kruber used to be a vicious and unscrupulous man in his early days as a soldier, and the mellowing out into the nice man we know now is a recent development that could easily be reversed with the right coercion...]]
** In the second game which introduces new character classes based on CharacterDevelopment, the "bad" variations on the characters leave everyone undergoing SanitySlippage as they are haunted by the events of the first game - Saltzpyre loses faith in worldly organizations and becomes a flagellating Zealot, Sienna loses control of her powers and becomes an unhinged Pyromaniac, Bardin takes the [[DeathSeeker Slayer]] oath, and Kerillian follows the call of the bloodthirsty elven god of murder, Khaine, and becomes a psychotic Shade who now counts her kills for pleasure. And Kruber? Oh, he earns a knighthood for valour at Ubersreik and becomes a Foot Knight. That said, Lohner's notes and descriptions for his cosmetics imply that a Huntsman Kruber falls into poaching and begins associating with bandits.
* ''VideoGame/{{Fallout}}''
** GenkiGirl Moira from ''VideoGame/Fallout3'' is one of the few people in the game that is not an obnoxious asshole who urges you to kill him, also, most ghouls in their town.
*** Of course, during her sidequest, she pretty much encourages you to expose yourself to near fatal amounts of radiation, and severely injure yourself. [[ForScience All in the name of research, of course]] (though she at least has the decency to patch you up afterwards.) And you don't actually HAVE to do it, you can instead just crush her dreams and leave her horribly depressed. Or you can nuke her hometown and leave her as a radioactive ghoul... YouBastard.
*** Paladin Hoss is genuinely grateful to a Good Karma Lone Wanderer who helps him out, giving praise and promising protection.
** The Sole Survivor's personality from ''VideoGame/Fallout4'' defaults to this, being possibly one of the nicest Fallout protagonists to appear so far. The [[VideoGame/Fallout2 Chosen One]], [[VideoGame/{{Fallout 3}} Lone Wanderer]], and [[VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas Courier]] [[VillainProtagonist can be played as absolute monster]], but the absolute worst the Sole Survivor can be a is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who travels around helping people but keeps hitting them up for money and occasionally being a DeadpanSnarker. Picking the bottom options consistently leads to an almost superhumanly friendly personality.
*** All of the Good-aligned companions qualify, naturally. Preston Garvey maintains a professional soldierly demeanor and is a textbook OfficerAndAGentleman, Nick Valentine only started charging people for his PrivateDetective services when cases started backing up, Codsworth is as peppy and well-mannered as most Mister Handy robots, Deacon is laid-back and very cool guy with a breezy attitude, Curie is unflinchingly polite and approves of noble actions, and Piper Wright is playful, easy to get along with and passionate about helping the people of the Commonwealth.
* ''VideoGame/FateGrandOrder'' -- the [[PlayerCharacter Player Character]] Ritsuka Fujimaru is consistently portrayed as highly kind and compassionate towards the 200 plus Servants and the staff of Chaldea. Mash even describes them as “the most human individual” she has ever met.
** Speaking of, Mash Kyrielight is Fujimaru’s incredibly polite and supportive Servant and Kouhai who is [[TheIngenue charmed by a number of everyday occurrences]] and by the end of the first arc [[spoiler: [[HeroicSacrifice willingly gave her life to protect her Master and all of humanity]]. Thankfully, [[BackFromTheDead she got better]]]].
** The third major example is [[MissionControl Dr. Romani Archaman]]. Aside from being [[DeadpanSnarker a bit sarcastic]] (especially to [[SitcomArchNemesis Merlin]]) he is consistently [[TheMentor a very kind, reliable authority figure]] and [[LovableCoward endearing]]. The Final Singularity cements this with the reveal that [[spoiler: He is [[TheGoodKing the real King Solomon]], [[GoodAllAlong has been on your side from the very beginning]] and [[HeroicSacrifice doesn’t even hesitate to sacrifice himself]] to defeat [[ArsGoetia Goetia]]]].
* ''Franchise/FinalFantasy''
** Cecil Harvey of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV'', at least once he gets over his [[TheAtoner massive guilt issues]] over being a Dark Knight.
** Bartz from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyV'' is one of the few protagonists in the series who is just nice, with no underlying issues or moments of {{Jerkass}}ery. He's caring towards his fellow Light Warriors, very easygoing, and acts as a [[BigBrotherInstinct brother figure]] to Krile [[spoiler:when Galuf dies and she takes his place]].
** ''Franchise/CompilationOfFinalFantasyVII'':
*** Tifa is a kind, altruistic, compassionate, laid-back woman with quite the maternal streak and interacts with others in polite, understanding, and respectful way. She actively teaches Cloud life lessons and networking so that he can build better connection and reputation for his mercenary job, with Cloud viewing her as a patient teacher. She's also very dedicated to creating the most positive and communal environment possible within Sector Seven. She takes issues with Avalanche's more extreme methods to the point of getting kicked out of meetings, as well as being concerned for the well-beings of even Shinra employees, such as recognizing them as just people who worked to support their loved ones and saving Shinra Middle Manager while saying that she doesn't want anyone to die.
*** [[MysteriousWaif Aerith]] is rather unsurprisingly, this trope to a tee. She maintains a cheerful and idealistic disposition, and readily offers help to others without expecting recompense (which lets her stand out to [[OnlyInItForTheMoney Cloud, an apathetic and arrogant mercenary]]), and risks herself to save other people (like Tifa and Barret's daughter Marlene) despite not knowing them very well as people. She absolutely loves children: she openly empathizes with the ghost childen of the train graveyard, and is adored by all of the kids of the Leaf House and is one of the few adults they allow into their "secret hideout" even though its existence is an OpenSecret.
*** ''VideoGame/CrisisCore'': Zack Fair from the prequel. He's suave, charming, confident, friendly, morally upstanding, upbeat, sincere, utterly loyal, and just wants to be a hero (in the very best sense of the word). Because of this, he manages to make friends with practically everyone he encounters, including ShrinkingViolet Cloud, the Turks and pre-Nibelheim [[SugarAndIcePersonality Sephiroth]]. A lot of his sidequests involve him going out of his way to help people out, such as him having the option of building Aerith ''three'' different flower carts. He even attempts to help Angeal and Genesis, who had done bad things to him like the former betraying him, only because it's the right thing to do. He died due to taking care and protecting comatose Cloud (going OneManArmy against Shinra's entire army) without being bitter or resentful about it. Contrast to how Cloud, the main character of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'', starts out ''his'' story as a vain, arrogant, apathetic asshole who deliberately antagonises his employers, and earns either fawning admiration or loathing from everyone around him until he grows up a little.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXV'' has a record number of these, despite the CrapsackWorld setting:
*** The main hero, Noctis, is practically an opposite of what his appearance might suggest. He's very friendly, fun-loving, and perky with a side of good-natured DeadpanSnarker. The fact that he's a KindheartedCatLover just cherry-tops it.
*** The main heroine, Lunafreya, is a ''paragon'' of niceness in the world. She's downright sweet, and pretty much adored for it.
*** Luna's attendant and divine Messenger, Gentiana, is another fitting example. While she's very cryptic and mysterious, she has watched over and protected Noctis and Luna since they were children -- maybe even before than, and is nothing less than kind and friendly to them. [[FunnyBackgroundEvent She also loves photobombing Prompto]].
*** Cindy/Cidney too is nothing less than extremely sweet, though very much MarriedToTheJob.
*** Aranea Highwind, a momentary PunchClockVillain, is later revealed to be a very kind and friendly woman herself, defecting from the empire solely to help people and because [[TheFriendNobodyLikes Ardyn pisses her off]]. There are also her lieutenants, [[LegacyCharacter Biggs and Wedge]], who are also shown to be very friendly and caring old soldiers.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:G-Z]]
* Similarly, ''VideoGame/GearsOfWar'' has, most notably, Dom Santiago, all three Carmine brothers shown, and Cole, of the main cast, along with Dizzy and Anya of the supporting. Baird is a DeadpanSnarker InsufferableGenius JerkWithAHeartOfGold and Protagonist Marcus is a KnightInSourArmor, stopping them from fulfilling it, along with Sam, who like Baird is too much of a DeadpanSnarker to qualify, but the above mentioned main Nice Guys, likewise, have bad things happen to them. Dom [[spoiler: lost his brother and children before the game series to the Pendulum Wars and E Day respectfully, his wife ran out and went missing, then e later found her and had to MercyKill her due to her torture leaving her catatonic. Anthony and Benjamin Carmine both died in battle, meaning Clayton lost two of his younger brothers, and Cole lost his entire family before the game, and off-camera during the opening levels also lost most of his squad.]]
* ''VideoGame/GoldenSun'' has played merry hell with this trope.
** Isaac was openly identified as a NiceGuy by the [[AllThereInTheManual extras for the first game]], since he's a HeroicMime in that one. Then in ''The Lost Age'', he got to speak for himself, and [[GoodIsNotNice he was good, but not very nice]]. The shift might be justified by all the crap he went through in the first game and the pressure he's still under in TLA, but it was still pretty jarring to a lot of players.
** Ivan was identified as a sweet kid, but had some issues with MindOverManners even in the first game, which he was even called out on.
** Mia has a little bit of DeadpanSnarker, but is mostly a gentle WhiteMagicianGirl and the first truly nice player character in the series. Her EstablishingCharacterMoment is healing an elderly couple, she quickly puts her trust in Isaac's group despite the doubtful circumstances of their meeting, and her most aggressive moment is even fully merited -- revulsion with her cousin, Alex, upon realising the extent of his betraying their Clan's ideals.
** Piers in ''The Lost Age'' is probably the first genuinely nice ''male'' player character. He's initially standoffish due to some trust issues, but once he {{defrost|ingIceQueen}}s, he is quite mellow and gentle. Heck, his EstablishingCharacterMoment scene even has him try to comfort and empathize with an abuser, and mentally kicking himself after he's been driven to lash out with his Psynergy.
** ''[[VideoGame/GoldenSunDarkDawn Dark Dawn]]'''s Matthew is generally held to be a sweet guy, though being as he is the son of the aforementioned Isaac and [[SymbolSwearing a known pottymouth]], this might need to be taken with a grain of salt.
** Amiti is completely transparent, and ''pure sugar''. Even to the nation presently at war with his -- he's just ''that'' nice. It's a genuinely shocking moment when he first voices [[BlackAndWhiteMorality his opinions on criminal justice]], and even then, he calms down after a gentle reprimand and a reminder of what's at stake.
** Sveta of Morgal is so far the straightest example of this trope (even though she's not human, but a [[CuteMonsterGirl Beastwoman]]. She leads the party despite only just meeting them, helps them even when their goals come into opposition with her country's leader, Volechek [[spoiler:(who is also her brother)]], protects the lives of people to be executed as part of her country's festival, and does her part to save not just her own people but the whole world. She's also an ActionGirl who ''isn't'' passive-aggressive, and recognises that [[spoiler:she can't leave the Grave Eclipse running for a second even though it would ''kill'' her brother, because to do so would only kill more innocent people.]]
* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto'': Despite being set in one of cynical CrapsackWorld, there are still a couple of examples:
** Wu Zi "Woozie" Mu and Madd Dogg in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoSanAndreas''. The former is very nice and pleasant for a Triad gangster, easily befriending Carl and gladly aiding anyone that helped him in turn (with that said, he can be very ruthless to his enemies), and the latter is also friendly to CJ and the only retribution he exacts in the entire game is [[spoiler:taking back his rhyme book and royalties from OG Loc's stolen work. After the last mission you can also hear him on the radio thanking Carl Johnson for bringing him back]].
** [[CampGay Florian "Bernie Crane" Cravic]] in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoIV'' manages to be a happy, healthy individual despite having fought in a war that broke his childhood friend Niko Bellic. He tries to help him out by throwing out a fun trip (though it gets ruined by [[BigBad Dimitri's]] thugs) and rewards him for his support with a very expensive car. Should Niko decide to [[spoiler:spare Darko Brevic, Florian will express pride on him for moving on from the past. Even if Niko kills him, he will still be happy that he can finally let go from the past too]].
** Floyd Hebert in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' is one of the nicest people in the game, but unfortunately also happens to be an ExtremeDoormat who gets trampled over by [[VillainProtagonist Trevor Philips]].
* From the ''VideoGame/GuiltyGear'' games:
** Axl Low is a British [[UnstuckInTime involuntary time traveller]] who nevertheless maintains a very friendly and optimistic attitude despite his circumstances and never holds any grudges against the various weirdos he winds up fighting due to one reason or another, always chalking the encounter up to bad luck. He's even nice enough to maintain friendly speaking terms with [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold anti-social wanderer]] Sol Badguy, and offers to lend him his Music/{{Queen}} CD.
** There's also [[CulturedBadass Slayer]], who is incredibly civil and polite to practically everybody, even his opponents, what with being a quintessential gentleman and [[ILetYouWin them having no realistic chance of actually hurting him]] -- he even hands out hints to random people for no reason beyond seemingly just wanting to be helpful (such as the time he informed Ky that there was something seriously wrong with the bounty on Dizzy despite having no reason to care about either of them).
** Dizzy. A sweet, kind, and innocent half-human[=/=]half-Gear who happens to be a FriendToAllLivingThings. Heck, she even serves a MoralityPet to several of the main characters such as Testament (who allowed them to regain some faith on humanity).
** Elphelt Valentine in Xrd, is different from the other Valentines, as she is a LoveFreak sweetheart with a friendly and innocent personality. Much like Dizzy, she also a FriendToAllLivingThings.
* A non-romantic example: Scott Shelby in ''VideoGame/HeavyRain'' is an overweight, asthmatic private detective, but he's also a really nice fellow who can [[TalkingTheMonsterToDeath single-handedly stop a general store robbery through the sheer power of his charisma.]] In another subversion of most Nice Guys on this page, he quickly became an EnsembleDarkHorse. In fact, his only real flaw is that [[spoiler: he's a vicious, twisted serial killer. Karma's a bitch, ain't she?]]
** It's saying a lot when [[spoiler:the nicest character in such a bleak story turns out to be arguably the most evil character.]]
* ''VideoGame/HyperdimensionNeptuniaMk2'' gives us Nepgear, the CPU Candidate of Planeptune who is so kind that she even [[ApologizesALot apologizes over the tiniest of things]].
* ''VideoGame/InjusticeGodsAmongUs'' gives us a [[TheParagon very]] [[AFatherToHisMen true]] [[AGodIAmNot to]] [[TheAce form]] Franchise/{{Superman}} (the good one from the Main Universe anyway). [[KnightTemplar His Regime!Counterpart]] on the [[{{Jerkass}} other]] [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope hand...]]
* In ''VideoGame/IWasATeenageExocolonist'', Cal and Tammy are among the nicest and kindest people among Sol's childhood peers. The former is a gentle farmer who's [[ActualPacifist staunchly pacifistic]], while the latter is as sweet as sugar and likes baking and taking care of kids.
* Giorno proves he is as sweet and kind as his biological father Jonathan in the "what if" DLC scenario for ''Vento Aureo'' in ''VideoGame/JoJosBizarreAdventureAllStarBattle''. [[spoiler: Fugo found out about the deaths of Narancia and Bucciarati after his cowardly abandonment of his friends at San Marco Cathedral in Venice. Blaming himself, he comes before Giorno, now the Boss of the Italian Mafia, and begs to be taken back into the family. Giorno summons the Godlike Gold-Experience-Requiem and challenges Fugo to prove his dedication by defeating him in this state. If you somehow win this fight, Giorno reveals that he holds no grudges for your betrayal, and embraces you once more as a friend. To this Fugo furiously wept ManlyTears, and this time pledges his "body, heart and soul" to Giorno for life.]] Just like his father Jonathan, Giorno is kindness personified.
* ''VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters'' has no shortage of nice guys, from protagonists like Kyo Kusanagi and [[VideoGame/FatalFury Terry Bogard]] to stalwart do-gooder Kim Kaphwan. One character that stands out is Antonov, the organizer of the tournament in ''The King of Fighters XIV''. He is quite unlike other organizers of the tournament: he is not a criminal like Geese Howard or Rugal Bernstein, he has no affiliations with NESTS (outside of inviting NESTS washout Sylvie Paula Paula to compete), and he has no dealings with Orochi. Compared to previous organizers, he has more in common with Wolfgang Krauser: a rich aristocrat and formidable fighter with a sense of honor, the chief difference between them being that Antonov is unambiguously good while Wolfgang is an AntiVillain.
* Franchise/{{Kirby}} is by-far the nicest guy you could ever meet. The tutorial in ''Super Star'' even calls him a "jolly fellow."
* VideoGame/{{Klonoa}}, who is always willing to help those in need, even showing mercy to enemies as long as they have signs of redemption.
* Once Carth Onasi from ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' gets over his trust issues, he turns out to be a pretty swell guy. His EstablishingCharacterMoment ''was'' holding on and waiting for you to get to the last EscapePod, then nursing your intermittently conscious butt back to health. He is also a romance option for the female PC.
** In the sequel there is the Disciple, who is also a possible love interest for the female PC.
** In both series the main PC can be played as such, specifically in the second game where the Jedi become the HeroAntagonist in comparison to a moral, just, and kind Exile.
* Stefan Bekowsky from ''VideoGame/LANoire'' is this compared to the rest of Cole's partners, who are a (somewhat loveable) sexist, a despicable SmugSnake, and a UsefulNotes/WW1 vet with an initially abrasive attitude. Bekowsky himself? His worst flaw is occasionally flirting with female victims.
* ''Franchise/LeagueOfLegends'':
** [[GentleGiant Braum]] is so far the champion of NiceGuy in Runeterra. Not only his quotes are all nice, friendly and encouraging even to his enemies, his play style revolves around defending his teammates and helping them out. His lore has zero tragic elements as well, he just happens to be that kind of nice goat herder with immense strength, determination to help people in need. [[MommasBoy And he quotes his mom's words very fondly.]]
--->''Good luck, have fun!!"
** The living doll Gwen is a bundle of warmth and love. She's TheHeart for the Sentinels of Light who consist of jaded, selfish, and other flavors of flawed heroes, keeping things peaceful and working to save the world from darkness. As an artificial being, what matters most is that she can enjoy the world... [[BewareTheNiceOnes and hack away anyone that threatens it.]]
** Ivern the Greenfather is a whimsical FriendToAllLivingThings who wanders the natural world and tends to critters of all kinds. Even his ''taunts'' against enemy champions are friendly and polite.
--->"Let reverence for life take root in your heart."\
"May the sun warm you all of your days."\
"All life is precious, yes... even yours."\
''(to enemy Lulu)'' "[[StrangeMindsThinkAlike Finally, someone who understands nature like I do]]."\
''(to enemy Malphite)'' "Mountain man, it's me! The tree guy!"
** Janna is a wind spirit living in the industrial landscape of Zaun, to which she dedicates herself to helping its downtrodden people and cleansing their polluted air. Case in point, [[https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/janna-color-story/ her color story]], sees Janna comforting a Zaunite street urchin in his hour of need.
** Kai'sa, who's lived her entire life fighting for survival in the terrifying Void, still manages to be a polite and caring young woman. Denounced by humanity, she nonetheless acts as the silent protector against Void predators. She shows this by protecting another stranded human against the Void creatures despite the same guy being an UngratefulBastard.
** The Dream Fawn Lillia is very clumsy but nonetheless sweet and demure towards others, even after smacking them in the head with her branch. Her cover story features her comforting a young girl who's sister has disappeared, giving the kid a warm and happy dream to sleep to.
** League's poster girl [[Characters/LeagueOfLegendsLux Lux]] is a bright and optimistic ray of sunshine with a lot of love in her heart. In addition to her overall sunny and kind demeanor, even her taunts towards enemy champions lack any form of genuine malice.
** [[Characters/LeagueOfLegendsNunuAndWillump Nunu]] is a sweet CheerfulChild out on an adventure with his best friend Willump, helping anyone in need that they come across. Even his in-game combat is incredibly playful, attacking enemies with snowballs rather than weapons or harmful magic. Hell, he's so nice that he just feels lonely after a scoring a pentakill.
--->'''Nunu:''' I know I should be happy, but it feels lonely, Willump.
** The cheerful pop singer Seraphine sees music as a means to bring the world together, and with her ability to feel the songs in other people and her talents in making songs of her own, she's determined to make it happen and has the sweet, personable attitude for it. Even when she decides to get sassy towards her opponents, her tone is more playful than salty.
** Taliyah is a very compassionate girl devoted to her tribe and friends, and travels the world to hone her abilties so that she can help others with them. She's willing to accept outsiders like Kai'Sa and was able to bring out a gentler side of the brooding Yasuo.
** [[PlanetOfHats This trope is the most defining characteristic of many yordles]]:
*** Kennen from the Kinkou Order. Justfied as he's "TheHeart of the Tempest". Heck, he's even willing to forgive Zed, who betrayed the clan and started an organization of assassins.
*** Teemo happens to be a very friendly yordle scout. May overlap with BewareOfTheNiceOnes since he can be a cold-blooded assassin when on-duty.
*** Gnar is a playful prehistoric yordle who is a kind and friendly guy at heart and befriends people easily who are friendly and playful towards him. Hence, this is one of the main reasons why he manages to befriend [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Lulu]]. [[BewareOfTheNiceOnes Just don't piss him off or you'll face Mega Gnar]].
*** Lulu as well. She's a relatively friendly and kind-hearted yordle at heart and is willing to make friends who are kind, playful, and friendly. She also was quick to acknowledge that she did bad things without realizing it when the Yordles got angry at her turning their kids into animals or plants even if temporarily and without malice, and accepted the banishment without much protest.
** Zac was designed by Zaun's [[MadScientist Mad Scientists]], originally as a super soldier, where he is raised by two-caring husband-and-wife scientists as their own child. Despite all the trauma and the original purpose of Zac, he happens to a nice guy at heart who serves as a defender of the helpless and the innocent.
*** His introductory video features his intervening to [[FriendToAllLivingThings save a poro]] from a hail of arrows.
* Link from ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' franchise mixes this up with HeroicMime.
* Prince Sidon from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'' is practically the nicest person Link will ever meet. Sidon treats Link with the utmost respect for him and stands up for him when the elder Zoras don't want him around. Sidon also makes sure Link is doing alright as he makes his way to Zora's Domain and believes in his abilities that would help save the Zora people. Sidon also helps Link directly when combating the Divine Beast Vah Ruta so Link can get inside. After Link saves Zora's Domain, Sidon is more than happy to express his gratefulness to Link. He does all this without ever asking for anything in return.
* ''VideoGame/{{LISA}}'' series: Rando turns out to be one of the nicest characters in the trilogy. While he looks intimidating and leads a massive army, he has a good heart. He apologizes after Brad purposefully hits him with a motorcycle and gives Brad several of his rations to make up for it. His army is not nearly as nice, typically turning to murder the moment he's not around.
* While most ''Franchise/LifeIsStrange'' protagonists are at the very least tempted to behave in selfish ways a lot of the time, and several are outright shady thanks to the GrayAndGrayMorality they encounter in the world, Alex Chen in ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrangeTrueColors'' is occasionally snarky at the absolute worst, but is overall committed to being helpful, understanding, and gentle. WordOfGod has it that she was originally going to be more like the other leads, until they realised that someone with her particular superpower (she's a hypersensitive empath with shades of telepathy) could only have survived by deciding that GoodFeelsGood and becoming a kinder person.
** On the non-superpowered side of things, Steph Gingrich (who appears in both ''True Colors'' and ''[[VideoGame/LifeIsStrangeBeforeTheStorm Before The Storm]]'' and is one of Alex's potential love interests) is basically a BadassNormal version of this trope. With everything she's seen and been through over the course of the series, the worst she's come out with are a few commitment issues, which she'll work through if Alex chooses to romance her. She's otherwise exceedingly honest and loyal, to the point where she's [[spoiler:the only character guaranteed to side with Alex in the final confrontation against the BigBad no matter what]].
* Many of the protagonists of the ''VideoGame/LikeADragon'' series are this, while also highlighting how sometimes GoodIsNotSoft.
** Kazuma Kiryu, TheHero of the series, is an ex-yakuza who simply wants to live a quiet life with his adopted sons and daughters. If someone is in trouble, he'll jump at the chance to lend a hand, and maybe knock a few skulls or two on occasion. He is [[FriendToAllChildren especially nice to children]], and anyone threatening kids can expect to be picking their teeth up off the ground.
** In ''VideoGame/Yakuza0'', Goro Majima is shown to be this before SanitySlippage started taking a hold of him. While a gangster through-and-through, he also will lend a hand to those in need and throw down with punks and jerkasses to put them in their place. In later games in the series, he still has some noble qualities, even though it's hard to tell for all of his bloodlust.
** Shun Akiyama was once a homeless man until a very unexpected windfall came his way courtesy of the events of the [[VideoGame/Yakuza1 first game]] in the series. Using the money he managed to pick up, he made savvy investments, became a millionaire, then opened a loan office with the express purpose of [[UnclePennybags giving away his fortune to those less fortunate than himself]]. Just like Kiryu, though, he's not afraid to kick some ass if he sees punks making trouble for those who can't protect themselves.
** Kasuga Ichiban of ''VideoGame/YakuzaLikeADragon'' is a cheerful {{Manchild}} who will do anything to ''not'' do his job, such as making excuses to not shake down people for protection money or returning ill-gotten gains to kids they were stolen from. Like the other ''Yakuza'' protagonists he's always quick to help out the downtrodden and helpless, though he's much less of a loner than the likes of Kiryu and Majima and surrounds himself with an eclectic group of friends to help him along the way.
* ''VideoGame/LoveAndPies'':
** Amelia's uncle Sven is the nicest person to have a main role in the game. He is always happy to help Amelia with restoring the café. He and his husband make toys for children in need, and Eve describes him as a "sweetheart". Amelia feels awful that she has to even consider him a suspect in the fire, and when she subtly interrogates him about it, he reveals that [[spoiler:he knew that his sister Freya (Amelia's mother) was the infamous thief known as The Purple Fox, and that he loaned her his money for the café but she ran away and never paid it back]]. He helps Amelia rebuild the cafe because he wants her to succeed, not to [[spoiler:get his loan back]].
** Joe means well when he checks in on Amelia's café despite working at Edwina's, her competitor, because he needs the money to pay for his father's medical bills. Once he's done, he quits his old job to work full-time with Amelia to help save her café and prove her mother innocent of the arson. In fact, [[spoiler:he used to hope that Amelia's café would fail, which was why he was a suspect of the arson, but he quit after paying for his father's medical bills.]] He also cancels his second date to help Amelia find the treasure to pay off all her debts.
* Aisha Blanchette from ''VideoGame/Macross30TheVoiceThatConnectsTheGalaxy''. She is [[GenkiGirl pretty much never down]], and is often able to cheer up Mina just by being in the same room.
* The ''Franchise/MassEffect'' series has a few:
** In ''VideoGame/MassEffect1'' we have Kaidan Alenko, the resident NiceGuy and love interest for a female.
** ''VideoGame/MassEffect2'' has Jacob Taylor, who is the OnlySaneMan in a DysfunctionJunction and a friendly, level-headed man. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, he's also the only romance option that cheats on Shepard by the sequel.]]
** Liara (minus a {{Jerkass}} interlude in ''2'') is seriously nice as well.
** After slowly [[DefrostingIceQueen defrosting]] in ''2'', [[TookALevelInKindness Miranda]] becomes this in ''VideoGame/MassEffect3'', having absolutely zero KickTheDog moments, practically begging Shepard for forgiveness for desiring to put a control chip into them at the beginning of ''2'', trying to avoid leaning on Shepard for help, and going further than ever to protect her sister from her father and in the process, warning innocent civilians about Sanctuary.
** Unless it's dealing with ArtificialIntelligence, Tali is one of the most selfless and kindest characters in the series. By ''3'', if Legion is still alive, [[CharacterDevelopment her hatred of AI just about completely disappears]].
** [[TheLancer Garrus]] [[FriendlySniper Vakarian]] is a really friendly guy as well, and [[UndyingLoyalty incredibly loyal]] to Shepard. [=ME3=] pretty much makes him one of [[ShellShockedVeteran Shepard's]] biggest pillars of support, the others being the aforementioned Liara and Tali.
** A lot of the squad count, [[CharacterDevelopment especially as the series goes on]]. James Vega is quick to befriend the whole crew while [[ClassyCatBurglar Kasumi]], despite being the best thief in the galaxy, is a very sweet and endearing GenkiGirl.
** Leon Kennedy, Revan, Zack Fair, move over. A Paragon Shepard is portrayed as the [[IdealHero Ultimate Hero]] by the loading screen hints, if not the best example in gaming then in the top three, and shows even [[Series/DoctorWho The Doctor]] how GoodIsNotSoft is done.
** From ''VideoGame/MassEffectAndromeda'', there's Vorn, a krogan who is also an absolute sweetheart. And that's when he's not dealing with his girlfriend, Nakmor Kesh. He's one of the most pleasant beings in the entire game (the whole "murder potato" idea aside, that is...)
* Mega Man Volnutt from ''VideoGame/MegaManLegends'' is probably one of the nicest protagonists of the ''Franchise/MegaMan'' series. A defining trait about Mega Man is how nice and heroic he is. In the first game alone, he can donate to the town reconstruction fund, save a pregnant woman lost in the woods that goes into labor, donate to the hospital to help heal a crippled girl's leg, help the police with their cases, and of course, stop the Bonnes from causing chaos.
* There are bunch of this in ''VideoGame/MetalGear'', to contrast the badass warriors you meet and play as. [[BreakTheCutie Bad things]] [[KillTheCutie tends to happen]] [[StartOfDarkness to them]], to show us that WarIsHell. For examples:
** Dr. Petrovich Madnar, who is a scientist and family man. He was forced to build TX-55 because his daughter is being held hostage.
** Gustava Heffner, who joined Czechoslovakia Secret Police to atone, after she denied asylum.
** Hal "Otacon" Emmerich. A nerdy otaku, kind, believes in people. He only worked on Metal Gear REX because he thought it was an anti-nuke weapon.
** Dr. Nikolai Sokolov. He only built the Shagohod under Volgin's threat, and he's a loyal family man.
** The Sorrow. He willingly died so that his lover and child could survive. He did mess with Naked Snake, but he also kept giving hints to him during the game.
** Naked Snake [[spoiler:aka. Big Boss]] is arguably one, or at least as nice as Black Ops operatives can be. [[spoiler:Well, until [[StartOfDarkness he learn]] [[AwfulTruth the truth]] [[FakeDefector about The Boss' defection...x.]]]] Even then, considering his BenevolentBoss and AFatherToHisMen status...
** [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid2SonsOfLiberty Rai]][[VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance den]] (when he's not [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Jack]] [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast the Ripper]] at least) is friendly, laidback, and a FriendToAllChildren.
** Otacon's dad, Huey Emmerich is also one. LikeFatherLikeSon, indeed. [[spoiler: Subverted horribly in ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolidVThePhantomPain''. [[LikeFatherUnlikeSon Hal couldn't be more different from his dad]] ]].
* While she isn't the most social or [[TheStoic outwardly emotional person]], Samus Aran of ''Franchise/{{Metroid}}'' fame is shown to be a compassionate and gentle woman who wants to make the galaxy a better place. For example, instead of coldly killing the Metroid hatchling, she spares it once she realizes it isn’t hostile, [[MamaBear protects it from Ridley]], sees that it is used solely for beneficial research, and fights through all of Zebes to get it back. She also took the time to rescue the Etecoons and Dachora before Zebes was destroyed and saved planet Aether and the Luminoth from the Ing of her own volition and with no expectation of reward. In ''Dread'', after taking the time to listen to Quiet Robe's plight, she reassures him in the Chozo language that she will stop Raven Beak's plans to conquer the galaxy.
* Beck from ''VideoGame/MightyNo9'', who cares for others, tries to avoid fighting (if possible), and tries to use his xel-manipulating abilities in a positive light. He even go as far as trying to purge the infected xels causing his Mighty Number siblings to go haywire in his own game rather than destroy them outright contrast to his [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic spiritual predecessor]], and the spin-off game ''Mighty Gunvolt Burst'', [[spoiler:felt regretful about fighting simulated versions of his siblings in Dr. White's VR program and wants them to be changed out]].
* Rosario from the interactive romance novel ''VideoGame/{{Moonrise}}'' is a genuinely nice person: always kind, always charming; always willing to lend a hand to the player character.
* Atrus from ''VideoGame/{{Myst}}'' is friendly, helpful, peace-loving, wise and sensible. Contrast his father and his sons, who are megalomaniacs and violent.
* Thanks to ''{{VideoGame/Overwatch}}'s'' idealistic setting and themes, many of the game's playable heroes really live up to their name.
** [[TheGadfly Gadfly]] tendencies aside, [[GenkiGirl Tracer]] is an optimistic, friendly, and kind-hearted woman.
** [[UpliftedAnimal Winston]] is usually very upbeat and amiable even in the face of danger. [[BewareTheNiceOnes That said, it's probably best]] [[UnstoppableRage not to anger him.]]
** [[KnightInShiningArmor Reinhardt]] loves helping people and is one of the most honorable and kind members of the original Overwatch organization. This is to the point where the organization fell to corruption not long after he was forced to retire.
** [[CyberNinja Genji]] was never interested in his family's organized crime, preferring to eat noodles and play video games instead. After his near-death and teachings from Zenyatta, Genji quickly became one of the least confrontational or hostile heroes in the game. He even forgave Hanzo for his failed attempt to brutally murder him.
** [[ReligiousRobot Zenyatta]] himself has nothing but kind and encouraging words for everyone, even those who are outright racist towards him.
** [[FriendToAllLivingThings Bastion]] has little interest in actually utilizing his combat programming and weaponry, preferring to instead live peacefully in the forest amongst the wildlife, helping his bird friend Ganymede build nests on occasion.
** Mei is very kind and friendly.
** [[SoulBrotha Lúcio]] is very friendly and upbeat, and starts most games off saying "[[SincerityMode Look at this team! We're gonna do great!]]"
** [[HerrDoktor Mercy]] is easily one of the kindest characters in the game. She hates violence, cares deeply for her teammates, and dedicated her life to saving as many lives as possible. Even though she abhors Overwatch's methods, she still wants to help them and keep them all safe.
** In a more tragic spin, [[TragicVillain Amélie Lacroix]] ''was'' this before Talon made her BrainwashedAndCrazy and turn her into [[ColdSniper Widowmaker]].
* ''VideoGame/PapersPlease'' has Jorji Costava, a career criminal who regularly makes attempts to enter Arstotzka. When you deny him entry, he takes it in stride and bears no ill will towards you for doing your job (unless you turn him away when he has all of his papers in order for once, in which case, [[WhatTheHellHero he will be fairly miffed]]). [[spoiler:If you get along with him fairly well, even when you turn him away, he'll offer you information on how to escape from the country, should you need to flee.]]
* ''Franchise/{{Persona}}'':
** ''VideoGame/Persona3'':
*** Fuuka Yamagishi. When Natsuki, one of the school bullies, locks her in the school during the Dark Hour, which endangers Fuuka's life since she's a Persona user and is now trapped within Tartarus, Fuuka protects Natsuki when she ends up in danger, and not only forgives her, but also befriends her.
*** Also, the Female Protagonist/[[CanonName Kotone Shiomi]]. While both she and the male lead can [[ChronicHeroSyndrome help out so many strangers]], her own dialogue comes across as being more genuinely cheerful and helpful, whereas the Male Protagonist/[[CanonName Makoto Yuki]]'s dialogue is a bit more dour.
** ''VideoGame/Persona4'':
*** Yu Narukami almost never speaks, but he seems like a really nice person, both in his few dialogue choices (always polite, considerate, and caring) and in action (helps almost everyone whom he meets overcome their psychological issues, works at a daycare center, hospital, ''and'' a tutor). While much of what he does is dictated by the player, his dialogue actions and character's statements on his behavior make it clear that he's incredibly kind. This characterisation continues over into ''VideoGame/BlazblueCrossTagBattle'', where Yu (who is SuddenlySpeaking) gets along with basically everybody he teams up with even though they come from [[Franchise/{{Blazblue}} three]] [[VideoGame/UnderNightInBirth different]] [[WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} universes]], and even if it doesn't work he still makes the effort to try. He even gets along well with ''[[AlphaBitch Weiss Schnee]]''. FridgeBrilliance kicks in when you remember that Yu already has plenty of experience in getting a diverse pool of people with different personalities and abilities to co-operate.
*** Rise Kujikawa. Notable, because you'd pretty much expect her to be very {{Tsundere}} when you first see her. Twin tails, ZettaiRyouiki, one of the female leads and a love interest, voiced by Creator/RieKugimiya in the Japanese version... you get the picture. But not only is she ''not'' a {{Tsundere}}, she's even been described as the ''anti-Tsundere''. She's bubbly, outgoing, a gigantic flirt and acts quite down-to-earth despite being a famous (former) IdolSinger.
*** Nanako Dojima, Yu's cousin. While it's indicated that [[StepfordSmiler she's not as cheerful as she seems]], she's always kind and polite to the protagonist and his friends, and shows up at some point in the party members' social links [[spoiler:assuming they're done before she's kidnapped]], to offer them words of support, such as telling Rise that she's her fan.
** While some are nicer than others, the entire Phantom Thieves of Hearts ''VideoGame/{{Persona 5}}'' are generally kind, sensitive people who will go out of their way to help anyone in need, no matter the risk to themselves. Most notable examples are:
*** The Main Character/[[CanonName Ren Amamiya]] is a fairly friendly fellow. Like the protagonist of the previous game, he doesn't say much, but he's sociable and kind to those around him. With many of his Confidants, he may even venture into Mementos to track down the Shadows of those who are causing grief to his friends, forcing them to change their hearts and make life a little easier for his loved ones. [[spoiler:This eventually leads to the Confidant finding out about his being a Phantom Thief, but they keep his secret, and in turn, aid him when he fakes his death late in the game.]]
*** Ryuji Sakamoto, beneath his delinquent facade, is actually an incredibly easygoing, loyal, and forgiving person. He almost immediately befriends Joker and is usually one of the most outspoken members of the Phantom Thieves when it comes to doing the right thing.
*** Ann too, an extremely loyal friend to Shiho Suzui and the Phantom Thieves.
*** Makoto also is a very polite and kindhearted person. Even when her sister Sae starts drifting towards being an AmoralAttorney, it's made clear that Makoto still loves her and helps Sae pull a HeelFaceTurn.
*** There's also Haru, who, despite the implications that she has a hidden sadistic side, is a very sweet and polite girl who loves gardening and is always smiling.
%%* From the same guys who made ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'', [[AllLovingHero Marona]] from ''VideoGame/PhantomBrave'' is this trope taken up to eleven.%%ZCE
* In ''VideoGame/PizzaTower'', Gustavo takes this role. An {{expy}} of [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]], Gustavo is generally always seen in a positive mood and is always supportive of the game's protagonist, Peppino, lacking the latter's [[NervousWreck constant anxiety]] and generally being [[NoRespectGuy the]] ''[[NoRespectGuy only]]'' [[NoRespectGuy one in the tower actually helping Peppino in his journey without selfish reasons]]. Gustavo even manages to befriend one of the tower's giant rats that normally serve as blockades in levels, whom he names Brick, and [[spoiler:helps out during the final boss purely so that Peppino can [[FastballSpecial throw him at enemies]] who are otherwise unable to be damaged]]. In prerelease versions of the game, Gustavo's cheerful demeanor ''would'' lapse into rage if Peppino [[BerserkButton failed to deliver one of his pizzas]], but this mechanic was iterated out by the time the game was finished and in the final product the only anger he shows is some serious disapproval during a taunt where Brick is [[UsefulNotes/ConsoleWars briefly replaced by an expy of]] Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog.
* The protagonist in ''VideoGame/PocketMirror'' is sweet, kind, and caring girl who is willing to help others in need. Lampshaded in the game when some of the other characters refer her as "Miss Goody Two Shoes."
* Your partner in each game of the ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon'' series is always one of the brightest, most positive characters in the story, and they make that immediately apparent by how readily they decide to befriend and look out for the hero just moments after they meet.
** ''[[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeonGatesToInfinity Gates To Infinity]]'' has a rather unexpected example in the form of [[spoiler: Hydreigon]], who's instantly likable from the moment you meet him in person, having a polite and kindly manner that runs entirely contrary to what one might expect from [[AlwaysChaoticEvil a member of his species]].
* In ''VideoGame/PotionPermit'', Martha is the sweet, gentle waitress of the tavern who shows kindness to her customers and [[SweetBaker bakes her signature cookies for them.]]
* VideoGame/ProfessorLayton is a BadassPacifist, a DotingParent, and an all-around NiceGuy.
* Stocke from ''VideoGame/RadiantHistoria''. [[TheStoic He may not be the most demonstrative of Nice Guys]], but one of the required sidequests for OneHundredPercentCompletion and the GoldenEnding? Helping a little girl play dress-up.
* ''VideoGame/RedDeadRedemption2'': Of all the Van der Linde gang, the two nicest gang members are Mary-Beth and Tilly. Best demonstrated by how they treat the captive O'Driscoll boy Kieran: the rest of the gang never miss an opportunity to insult him, Karen flicks a cigarette in his face, Sadie taunts him with a plate of food (which she spills at his feet) and constantly threatens to kill or emasculate him. Mary-Beth and Tilly? They offer him water when he's dehydrated. Mary-Beth is nice enough to give the boy water without being asked, and she also sits with him and tries to teach him how to read.
** [[spoiler:Arthur Morgan eventually develops into this after being diagnosed with tuberculosis. He becomes more emotional and polite, less sarcastic, develops a selfless side, and openly shows more care and compassion than ever before.]]
* ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'':
** ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil2'' has Leon S. Kennedy; rookie cop, first day on the job, and is thrown into a ZombieApocalypse. He devotes his strength in getting Ben (a reporter) out to safety and making sure Ada is out of harm's way (even taking a bullet for her). This gets Leon viewed as naive and gullible by the other characters in the game; Ben thinks Leon is just a cop who doesn't know what's really going on (Ben gets killed later on) and Ada sees Leon as dead weight to her mission (at first). Even Claire tends to ignore Leon at times. Leon becomes a DeadpanSnarker by ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil4'', but never gives up in trying to help and protect others.
** Addressed in the novels: When Ada attempts to flirt with him he admits he's scared and [[IgnoreTheFanservice ignores the fanservice]] before saying he just wants to be a good cop. She's duly impressed.
** Claire Redfield is also a very kind person, such as when she looked after Sherry in 2.
** Her brother Chris is also a good guy who tries to protect everyone he can from bioterrorism.
** Jill Valentine, Rebecca Chambers, Josh Stone, Sheva Alomar, and several other characters who aren't main protagonists or villains qualify.
* Nakoruru from ''VideoGame/SamuraiShodown'' is a very gentle girl.
* ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'':
** Tails is easily one of the nicest characters in the cast, and is even perfectly alright with accepting [[BigBad Eggman]] as a friend if he doesn't have an evil scheme at the moment.
** Cream the Rabbit is also very friendly, befriending the formerly distant Blaze the Cat, which allowed her to start working with Sonic and avert a multi-dimensional calamity.
** Sonic himself is a very kind person -- a bit rude at times, but it's more playful than anything else -- always going out of his way to help people and never asking anything in return.
** Amy Rose counts as well despite sometimes [[StalkerWithACrush acting inappropriately towards Sonic]]. She seems to be a FriendToAllLivingThings and even puts her life on the line to protect a (non-sapient) bird in the first ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure''.
** Silver the Hedgehog, despite his failings, nevertheless has a kind heart and always has it in the right place, caring incredibly about his allies and the future in general.
* Out of all the characters of the ''VideoGame/SoulSeries'', the two nicest characters are [[ThePaladin Sophitia]] and [[AllLovingHero Talim]]. Still, ReligiousBruiser and GoodIsNotSoft apply in both cases here.
* Most of the younger female cast members of the ''Franchise/StreetFighter'' series are pleasant and good people (Sakura, Ibuki, and Elena especially -- Elena's ending in SF4 shows that she somehow managed to make friends with ''Akuma''!). This is why Juri's introduction in ''[[VideoGame/StreetFighterIV Super Street Fighter IV]]'' was such a shocking contrast, because up to then Capcom had never introduced a female fighter who ''wasn't'' a NiceGirl (Juli and Juni in ''Alpha 3'' were antagonistic characters but [[BrainwashedAndCrazy only against their will]]; Chun-Li, Viper, and Cammy are determined, focused, and somewhat militant but also good-aligned characters).
* Similarly, Mario and Luigi from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros''. They're very open, compliment people they're competing against, and overall help anybody with a problem they can solve... Which is ''everybody''.
** In ''Mario Party 3'', Star Stamps reflect the character's personality. Luigi can get the Kindness Stamp along with most of the other Stamps.
*** Even though Donkey Kong is a pain in the arse for Mario in ''VideoGame/MarioVsDonkeyKong'', when Donkey Kong starts sobbing because he can't get his hands on any of the toys, Mario just says, "It's OK, don't cry!"
** Princess Peach, as fitting for her PrincessClassic, is one of the kindest, most empathetic characters in the franchise, not having a single bad bone in her body even at her worst.
* Guy from ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' is charming, laid-back, patient, and mature. In a world where all major characters have DarkAndTroubledPast, he is the only one who manages to move on and thus grows up to be genuinely cheerful and all around pleasant simply rather than becoming jerkass, angsty, suicidal or omnicidal like the other characters (except Mieu). Other characters and especially [[ChickMagnet girls]] notice, lampshade, and take advantage of his nice guy qualities though, [[AllergicToLove much to his chagrin]].
* ''VideoGame/UnderNightInBirth'':
** [[SirSwearsALot Hyde]]. Yes, really, he is actually a really friendly and generous kid who will always lend someone a hand if they're in trouble. Linne describes him as loud and having no delicacy in his speech but still being absolutely a good person.
** Orie dislikes hurting people and often makes it a point to spare her opponents in her victory quotes.
** Despite everything about his appearance ''screaming'' "villain", Gordeau is a laid-back and chill guy.
** And finally, Yuzuriha. Not even being an In-Birth can stop her ceaseless optimism and kindness.
* Papyrus from ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}''. Despite his massive ego and desire to capture the player so he can become a member of the royal guard, he honestly does grow to like the player and cares about them to the point that he insists on taking them alive even though they're going to be executed anyway. Try to insult him in battle and he simply interprets it as a front hiding a much nicer person who just needs to be warmed up to; do it after battle and he thinks you're insulting ''yourself''. After his fight (if the player manages to spare him) he can be befriended into helping them on their journey and trying to stop Undyne from killing them, and will even try to get the two to become friends if Undyne is spared as well. Even if the player is a genocidal monster, he refuses to believe that there isn't some good to be found in them [[spoiler: even if the player kills him.]] Undyne eventually admits that while Papyrus is more than skilled enough to be a member of the Royal Guard, he's ultimately just too nice to handle the responsibilities.
** His older brother, Sans, is a ''([[LazyBum really]])'' easygoing and funny guy who treats the Human Child like an old buddy. [[spoiler:That is except for one part where he invites the player to lunch to [[MoodWhiplash curtly inform them that if not for a promise to Toriel not to harm you, he would've killed you the minute he met you.]] Given how he knows about the save system, it's quite likely his friendly attitude is an insurance policy to make a potentially murderous player think twice about going through with it. That said, if you get to the final battle without killing anyone, he [[SoProudOfYou says he finds your commitment to doing the right thing admirable]], and wishes you luck in the game-ending phone call of the Neutral route in some of the better versions of the ending, which indicates that his friendliness isn't an act once he realizes that the protagonist can be trusted.]]
* ''VideoGame/TheUrinalGame'' features the happy guy in the green shirt, who smiles no matter how vulgar you act.
* Welkin Gunther of ''VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles'' is a quiet, sweet-hearted guy who likes nature and just wants to live a quiet life as a teacher. When TheEmpire invades Gallia, he becomes the leader of the Squad 7 militia force and quickly organises the ragtag unit into the single most powerful force in the Gallian military. He follows orders dutifully, doesn't commit war crimes, and is courteous and merciful even to his opponents. [[spoiler:[[BewareTheNiceOnes Just make sure you don't shoot his girlfriend]]]].
* ''VideoGame/TheWalkingDeadTelltale'':
** In Season 1, Clementine is about as sweet, considerate and gentle as can be, always wishing the best for everyone in her group and showing concern for them whenever things go even slightly wrong for them. She can keep this up in Season 2 if the player chooses to. More or less averted in Season 3, but then again, losing as many people as she has would take its toll on anyone. Depending on player choices, she can go back to being her kind, considerate self in Season 4, albeit with a GoodIsNotSoft approach.
** Despite some of his more troubling traits, AJ is a pretty good kid for the most part, willing to apologize to the other kids when pushed by Clementine. She can encourage some of the more nicer options, such as paying respects to Tenn's deceased sisters, letting the baby rabbit go free, and many of the other children at the school and Clem point out that he is a rather sweet boy all in all given the world they live in.
** Lee in Season 1 and Javier in Season 3 can be played like this, or alternatively portrayed as a {{Jerkass}}.
** Most of your allies are generally nice people, with exceptions, the stand-out being Larry.
* ''Franchise/TheWitcher'': Eskel is calm, reasonable, affable, and unfailingly courteous, in contrast to [[ScrewPolitenessImASenior Vesemir]], [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Lambert]], and [[DeadpanSnarker Geralt]], and in spite of his genuinely horrific appearance and (even by [[CrapsackWorld Witcherverse standards]]) horrifically shitty past.
** Dandelion could perhaps be the nicest character in the whole series. He's a complete NonActionGuy, but is also [[UndyingLoyalty loyal to a fault]] and has nothing but kindness and compassion for [[HeroWithBadPublicity witchers]], and doesn't hesitate in coming to their defense when they're being [[FantasticRacism treated like social pariahs]] by everyone else. It's to the point that [[KnightInSourArmor Zoltan]] mentions that Dandelion spent three days unable to sleep from the guilt of forgetting to pay for his bar tab at a tavern.
* ''VideoGame/WitchHunterIzana'': Caelyn is polite, positive and generally able to keep her party members from bickering too much. It helps that she's basically always smiling, even when transformed.
* Wolfgang in ''VideoGame/WolfsGang'' is polite, humble, loves animals, and is always willing to reach out to any monsters in need.
* ''VideoGame/TheWonderful101'': Wonder-Yellow is the friendliest of the main Wonderful Ones in addition to being shy and soft-spoken. Even when the team snips insults at one-another, the worst he ever does is some light teasing.
* ''VideoGame/YandereSimulator'':
** Kokona Haruka, Amai Odayaka, and Uekiya Engeika are this big time.
** Fureddo Jonzu, Oka Ruto, Muja Kina (she’s a faculty member but still), Asu Rito, Akane Toriyasu, Senpai, Osana Najimi, Budo Masuta, Horuda Puresu, Hanako Yamada, Miyuji Shan, Midori Gurin, Mai Waifu, Saki Miyu, and the Basu sisters Sakyu and Inkyu are also pretty nice people.
** Most of the school is pretty nice, however, the only students who aren’t are Yui Rio, Haruto Yuto, the delinquents (but that’s because they give off a tough demeanour to keep themselves from being bullied), Gema Taku, Kizana Sunobu, Osoro Shidesu (who has a softer side), Aoi Ryugoku, and the bullies.
* ''VideoGame/YesYourGrace'': Ada is the only other ally who can be made in Act 1 besides {{Jerkass}} Talys, and has a personality opposite to him. Ada is also the one who warns the PlayerCharacter about the unsavory side of another potential ally.
