* Devilman's use of the Devilmite Beam during his fight with Goku. For context, it's an attack that instantly kills whoever it's used on by taking the evil in a person's heart and exploding them from the inside. When Devilman is about to use it, Roshi explains the attack's properties all while everybody is extremely dramatic about Goku's impending death...but Goku is pure of heart (or at least, [[GoodIsNotNice as pure as a Saiyan child can be]]), something that the audience is well aware of. Everyone present except Devilman himself is aware of this, yet they act like there's a chance the attack might actually kill Goku. And the funniest part? In the anime's version of the events, ''he tries it again.''
* Goku mocking Piccolo for his fatal energy blast missing Goku's vital organs. [[https://youtube.com/watch?v=biX-jh_BNEI Piccolo's thusly-memed response]]: '''''ALL OF THEM?!'''''

[[folder:Dragonball Z/Kai]]
* ''Anime/DragonBallZ'''s "It's over NINE THOUSAND!", thanks to MemeticMutation, has become one of the most (in)famous pieces of {{Narm}} of all time. While the Ocean Group version of the line is better known, the Creator/{{Funimation}} version (which is the version Creator/TeamFourStar chose to parody) is pretty silly itself, although that might have been done on purpose to lightly parody the original version. The TV edit of Kai better homaged the original, in comparison to the uncut version sticking with the proper "It's over eight thousand!" of the Japanese text...even if Vegeta's growl at the end felt forced. It's also stupid because although Nappa's [[OhCrap freakout]] is certainly justified, Vegeta is freaking out about this despite having a power level almost double of that at 18,000.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY3jXkqrJvg This odd conversation]] in the Ocean dub. Nappa's face doesn't help.
-->'''Vegeta''': Nappa, remind me to look into having you dewormed again.\
'''Nappa''': ''(smiling)'' I don't have worms!
* Cell's reaction to Goku giving him a Senzu bean before fighting Gohan during the Cell Games: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EB5SSuOypT4#t=56s "Thank you Goku, I will take this bean without hesitation!"]] It's the MotorMouth delivery that sells it.
* The sheer amount of ridiculous edits and dialogues done in the Ocean dub just to cover up the deaths, regardless of logic, caused it to become a full-on SoBadItsGood comedy because of how ridiculous it is.
** Every time a character threatens to send someone [[NeverSayDie "to the next/another dimension!"]] Just ignore the fact that characters who enter said dimension gain halos, the rest of the population look like will o' wisps, there's clouds everywhere and the head honcho is a BigRedDevil.
*** Well, except for that one time Vegeta [[NarmCharm made it sound badass]]:
--->'''[[Creator/BrianDrummond Vegeta:]]''' Maybe you won't be such a disappointment... ''[[SeeYouInHell in the next dimension!]]''
*** Ironically, the redubbed line fits this trope despite the aversion of NeverSayDie.
--->'''[[Creator/ChristopherSabat Vegeta:]]''' Maybe you won't be such a disappointment... ''when you're dead!''
** When Nappa decides to blow up an entire city full of people, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBFX8y4VrkI he claims that all of the inhabitants have somehow evacuated]] despite the fact that previously there were a load of baffled crowds watching them. ''In two seconds?'' Talk about OutrunningTheFireball.
** When Nappa destroys a plane full of people which we explicitly see, they couldn't pull the "Cargo Robot" excuse, so they covered it up with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl4ghsv04V0 Tien claiming that he saw parachutes, so they're okay]]; however, there's nothing resembling a parachute in the sky, let alone a sign that they made it out alive. Perhaps Tien needed a fourth eye to see one. [[WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged Or his third eye can only see bullshit.]]
** Nappa saying [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_xoxwMFJ0I "Bus stop to the next dimension!"]] during his fight with the Z Warriors. Maybe Goku should've taken the bus to and from King Kai's planet.
** There's also Goku's "realization" upon seeing Vegeta's Great Ape form. Why the quotation? It's because in this version, Goku apparently believes that ''Vegeta'' is the one who destroyed the World Tournament arena and killed his grandfather. Putting aside the huge amount of FridgeLogic that comes out of this, this {{Bowdleris|e}}ation turns the critical moment of Goku realizing that ''he'' was the one responsible for Grandpa Gohan's death into a NeverMyFault moment of InsaneTrollLogic proportions.
* This line from Trunks from the English dub of ''Z'':
--> "If they set that android free, it will be the end of all of uuuuuuus! [[BigNo NOOOOOOOO!!!]]"
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjL8YVSewPc The dramatic music makes it even more funny.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_OHe6GKLKY Even Narmier in the Ocean Dub version,]] which sounds like it's ''poking fun'' at the Funimation line.
---> "If that android is set free, it will be the END OF US ALLLLLLLL! NOOOOOOOOOO!"
** [[https://youtube.com/watch?v=DFQdTH33mPQ YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY THE WHOLE PLANET FATHEEEER! YOU'VE GOTTA STOP IIIT!]]
* Many English speaking fans consider adult Goku’s Japanese voice {{Narm}}ful, finding it dissonant to hear a full-grown martial artist (who's a grandfather in the end) speaking with almost the exact same voice he had as a twelve-year old. This is intentional, however.
** Masako Nozawa voicing adult Son Goku with almost the exact same voice he had as a twelve-year old is uniquely charming. Masako Nozawa voicing his father Bardock is just JustForFun/{{egregious}}. A hardened, ruthless Saiyan warrior sounding like... ''this''? That's so unfitting, it's hilarious!
** In the end, she's the Seiyuu for every male member of the Son family except for Goku's brother Raditz, who has a '''deep baritone voice'''. [[WildMassGuessing Maybe Raditz isn't related to Goku after all!]] Even funnier is that she even voices Turles who, other than looking like Goku, has absolutely nothing to do with him!
* Frieza tries to intimidate Krillin:
--> '''Frieza:''' You cut off my tail, you imbecile, and '''now I'm going to eat you!'''
* The AB Groupe dub, better known for as the "Big Green" dub, is infamous for its awfulness, being the very definition of a BlindIdiotTranslation, and being hilarious for all the wrong reasons.
** Characters' names are constantly pronounced wrong, from Vegeta (which is pronounced like "vegetable" minus the -ble) to Krillin (which they pronounced like "Clear-in"), and Mr. Satan ("Sat-an").
** Piccolo got the short end of the stick, by them not even bothering with his actual name - instead, he's referred to as ''Big Green''. It completely saps whatever seriousness scenes with him present have.
** Speaking of Krillin, he gets an actor who makes him sound like a very young, whiny kid instead of a competent fighter.
** The ''Dead Zone'' movie has this line from Garlic Jr. when Kami appears to confront him:
---> '''Garlic Jr.''': Good lord, it's God!
** From the same version, Garlic Jr's [[QuirkyMinibossSquad Spice Boys]] are impossible to take seriously. While there's an element of parody with most evil minions in the ''Dragon Ball'' franchise, giving one of them a voice that sounds like an evil version of [[Series/TheMuppetShow Fozzie Bear]] doesn't help much.
** ChewingTheScenery is a must in the ''Z'' movies, especially from villains.
*** [[https://youtu.be/jtMtuWDRIHs?t=9m1s I shall give you the honor of observing]][[LargeHam my METAMORPHOSIS!!!"]]
*** [[https://youtu.be/ozM3Chgvq-o?t=196 HAHAHAHA! YOU THINK YOU CAN DEFEAT ME? USING THE POWER OF THOSE MOSQUITOES?! I AM THE LEGENDARY WARRIOR!]]
*** [[https://youtu.be/AsRcEBUsur0?t=26s I'M ORDERING YOU AND YOUR SON TO DISAPPEAR! GET OUUUT!]]
*** Broly catches Paragus trying to escape, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl2-xuUffi4 and delivers this line]], while sounding like a ''SurferDude!'':
---->'''Broly''': "Great idea Dad, but it'd get a little snug in there." ''(Proceeds to make some very awkward groaning noises while squeezing the pod into a projectile)''
---->'''Paragus''': [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl2-xuUffi4 PERISHED AT THE HAND OF MY OWN SON!]] [[PurpleProse NOT THAT! NO, WHY HAS DESTINY CONSPIRED AGAINST ME SO TRAGICALLY?!]]
** [[https://youtu.be/-1YN_pOo_UM?t=2m20s Clearin completely forgets who the tall green alien guy that's fought alongside him since the start of the series is.]] What was his name again?
** A lot of what the narrator says are BlatantLies.
--->''[From "Cooler's Revenge"]''\
'''Narrator''': Goku's father, Bardock, showed up just in time to foil [Freezer's] plans and take him on in hand-to-hand one-on-one combat. It's no holds barred and neither one will leave this fight unhurt.
--->''[From "The History of Trunks"]''\
'''Narrator''': Big Green had perished. Vegetuh, Yamcha, Tenshin, and Clearin, they had survived.
** MotorMouth is a serious disease in this dub. Take [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4k0JgxCgTc this clip]] for example.
--->'''Paragus''': I must tell you mykeenestdesirehasalwaysbeentocreateanewPlanetVegetuhafterFreezerdestroyedouroldonethirtyyearsagoyouwillrecall. ''*deep breath*'' [=IknewitwouldbetheonlywaytoperpetuatethereignofKingVegetuhyourfatherkilledbyFreezerinhumiliatingcircumstances=] ''*small breath*'' nowthatIconvincedyouandbroughtyouhere. I can tell you that my sacredmissionmygreatdreamwillatlasttakeshape and be realized.
** And even when he's not Motor Mouthing, Paragus has some...issues with inflection. And run-on sentences.
--->'''Paragus:''' Is it possible the sensed power of Kaka-roe-toh, called Goku, has awakened the spirit of Space Warrior within you, and made you impossible to control, and all of my work was for nuh, thing?!
** The fact that every super power in the AB Groupe dub is inexplicably referred to as a Kamehameha; the only possible explanation that makes sense being that someone saw the scenes of the technique being used, and thought that the accompanying line was a {{Kiai}} instead of CallingYourAttacks. Kaioken? That's now a Kamehameha. Throwing a Spirit Bomb? Kamehameha. Even the act of transforming into a Super Saiyan- sorry, ''Super Space Warrior''- sorry, ''Space Super Warrior'' is a Kamehameha now!
* Goku's [[{{Padding}} five minute]] transformation into Super Saiyan 3 is also rather infamous. Awesome, yes, but infamous.
* Super Saiyan Goku's "I am" speech in the original Funimation dub of ''Z'' is hilariously bad. Not only because of the cheesy writing, but because it took the original point of the speech (Goku finally embracing his Saiyan heritage and making it clear that he's not fighting for fun, but to ''kill Frieza''), chucked it out of the window and replaced it with a generic, gaudy "I'm better than you because I'm the good guy" speech that sounds like it could've been lifted straight out of an old ''{{Franchise/Superman}}'' comic.
--> '''Goku:''' I am the Hope of the Universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good! Nightmare to you!
** Hell, ''every'' instance of AdaptationalHeroism in the dub is this. It was apparent in the Japanese version to a certain extent, but the original English dub straight-up turned Goku into a ComicBook/{{Superman}} {{expy}} for fear that Goku's [[BloodKnight actual character]] might be a turn-off for western audiences. Hearing all these lines in narration and spoken dialogue about how Goku is a "protector of the innocent" with not a single bad bone in his body becomes all the harder to take seriously when you know how Goku actually operates. [[note]]This, however, is a very {{Downplayed}} example since Goku is seen as an IdealHero even in the original manga by his friends and family (and by most fans), and experiences a subtle MessiahCreep. While Goku may not be the superhero that the early English dubs made him out to be, it is just as much, if not even more, of a misconception to claim he was "never a hero" and/or to act as if the AllLovingHero side of his personality never existed at all and was just something the dub made up. [[/note]] Unsurprisingly, Creator/{{Funimation}} consider the original dub an OldShame and have since made their dub of ''Anime/DragonBallZKai'' more accurate, with Goku's proper characterization in mind.
* The way Frieza is beaten by Goku on Namek. As Goku is flying off and leaving the bisected Frieza behind, Frieza starts screaming "I will make you pay for opposing the MOST POWERFUL BEING IN THE UNIVEEEEEEEEEEERSE!" and shooting a beam of energy at Goku. Goku turns around, screams "YOU FOOOOOL!", and blasts it back. Then Frieza's face and the way he's screaming makes it look like he's having an ImmodestOrgasm. Also, Frieza says that he's "the most powerful being in the universe" about five times throughout that scene despite the fact that he's been cut violently in half and is practically dying.
* Before that, there was the scene in which Frieza sent one of his Death Saucers at Goku. The camera spins around and around him while he's laughing.
* "You think I'm stupid enough to fall for such a childish TRICK?!!!!" The way Frieza screams "trick" and the way his eyes bug out are hilarious.
* This line by Captain Ginyu in the original dub as Goku is powering up to what was then considered insane levels.
-->'''Ginyu:''' "One hundred thousand?! Ay-yi-yi! I wasn't counting on this!"
* Also during the Frieza Saga: Vegeta awakens from a much-needed nap and then finds the Dragon Balls missing and the dragon summoned. His reaction to the sight of the monstrous Porunga in the initial dub? To proclaim "Holy Cosmos!" and "That's one whopper of a lizard!"
** Really, Vegeta in the early days of Funimation's dub was full of narm. Granted, Sabat was just starting off as Vegeta, but his Brian Drummond impression practically reeked with narm. Thank goodness he eventually found a more unique and better voice for the Saiyan prince.
** Later episodes would give us such gems as "Great galaxies!" and "Son of a Namek!"
* Vegeta's [[SoBadItsGood best comeback ever]]:
-->'''Android 18:''' How sad, to work so hard for... so little.\
'''Vegeta:''' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZq3An7Tf_w SAD FOR YOUUUUUU!!!]]
* A notable gem in the English dub is when Piccolo finishes his fusion with Nail. Piccolo's dialogue during this scene resembles an overexcited sports player pumping himself up.
--> "[[https://youtu.be/xwvRU8ALAbs?t=46s Whoa, unreal! My gosh! THIS IS AMAZING! I FEEL INCREDIBLLLLLLLE!! YES! YES YES YES! I CAN WIN! I FEEL GREAT! I - CAN - DO - THIS!]]''"
** How does ''WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged'' make fun of this scene? [[SpoofedWithTheirOwnWords By not changing a single thing about it]]. And takes it to NeverLiveItDown territory by referencing it during [[https://youtu.be/3nYNo7B3esY?t=3m their take of Piccolo and Kami fusing.]]
*** Some fans, particularly newer ones (post-''Kai''/''Abridged''/''Super''), even admitted that they were surprised when they [[AluminumChristmasTrees found out that the line was spoken in the original dub]], thinking that the line was a just a gag made by TFS for ''Abridged'' and ''not'' something that Piccolo actually said in the original dub.
* The weird robotic noises Mecha-Frieza makes in the English dub of ''Kai'' when Future Trunks cuts him in half. It almost sounds like he's singing!
* When Gohan is practicing with the Z-Sword, his practice basically includes swinging it wildly over a lake. But then occasionally, he'll stop what he's doing, hold the sword over his head, point to it, and scream "''HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!''"
* Creator/KyleHebert's deep narrator voice can sometimes lead to Narm, like in the episode "Gohan Goes to High School" where he says in his standard, Creator/DonLafontaine-esque tone, "Hurry, Gohan! You'd hate to be late to class..." This is immediately followed by the title card with the standard "guitar riff episode title" theme. Basically, a rockin' guitar riff set to white text saying "Gohan Goes to High School". Doubly funny because [[ActingForTwo Kyle Hebert is talking about another character voiced by him]]. Its almost a shame he's been replaced in all subsequent dubs with Doc Morgan.
** The opening narration for one of the Cell Saga episodes, picking up after Cell absorbed almost the entire population of a city. It went something like this:
---> "Just another ordinary, peaceful morning in a quiet little town, right? [[SuddenlyShouting WRONG.]]"
** The closing narration of one episode has some narmful alliteration.
--->"Cell's Evil Extravaganza is well underway."
* [[https://youtube.com/watch?v=5bfM0j2xmHs Goku saying “I’LL MAKE YOU PAY, CELL!”]]
* The English dub of ''Kai'' has Raditz shrieking "NOW DIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!!" before trying to kill Gohan. With a scream that sounds like it nearly killed Justin Cook's larynx and long, bushy hair like that, he could've been the lead singer for an 80's hair metal band!
* And how could anybody forget [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCfOSoVeCps this gem]] from the Funimation dub:
--> '''Krillin''': "Wow! [[TotallyRadical Mondo cool]]!"
--> '''Vegeta''': *thinking* "That's right, boys: mondo cool."
* An early Funimation dub example when Goku is in Ginyu's body:
--> "[[DullSurprise Uhhh... The pain's too strong, and... I don't think I can go o-o-o-on...]]"
* Practically every other one-liner to come out of Frieza's mouth in the original Funimation dub of ''Z'' can come off as unintentionally hilarious (especially during scenes when he's supposed to be intimidating), considering how refined and eloquent he is in canon. When he's not sounding like a try-hard bruiser who never stops cracking wise at inappropriate moments, he sounds almost horny on main all the time. Thankfully, like with Goku, when it came to Funimation's English dub of ''Kai'', Frieza was given his proper characterization.
* [[https://youtu.be/UpoVb3eiiHQ This... moment]] from the Cell Saga when Cell tries to surprise Android 17 with a body slam to absorb him. It doesn't work... Because he tries it right above the sun where 17 would notice the shadow, and Cell lets out probably the most unusual, yet hilarious roar you can think of. The Japanese music in the background only makes the entire moment sillier than it needs to be.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wG84efH4sw The "Speedy" dub (aka "Malaysian DBZ") in its entirety.]]
** Turles encounters Gohan and tries to turn him to his side:
-->'''Gohan''': Daddy?\
'''Turles''': Huuuh? Whaaat? I see. So you are the son of Kakarot. You inherited the blood of Saiya-People!\
'''Gohan''': Wh-wh-wh-who are you?!\
'''Turles''': Huuuh? I am da Saiya-People!\
'''Gohan''': Whaaa? The Saiya-People?!\
'''Turles''': Yaaaaas! My name is Turass! We can wander selfishly in universe destroy whatever we like... Eat delicious food... And drink delicious likka! There is nothing like this enjoyable life!
** This dub even has its own {{Engrish}} version of the infamous "Let that child alone!" line from the "Big Green" dub:
-->'''Piccolo''': [[AccidentalInnuendo Take your hands off from Gohan!]]
** Arguably, Piccolo's next line is even worse, ending with a roar that sounds like he tried to record it while gargling water.
-->'''Piccolo''': I'm not '''KIDDING!!!! GUAAAAUAUAAAAAAAUGHGHHHH!!!'''
** King Kai explains why Gohan's whistling can hurt Lord Slug's hearing... sort of.
-->'''King Kai:''' "Now I see! Like human beings dislike the sound of rubbing glass, probably the soundwave of the whistle, which a human being blows, might echo suddenly irritating the ears of the Namek people, their nerves can't endure any of the pain!"[[note]]Often misheard as "Now I see! Black human beings dislike the sound of rubbing glass probably the soundwave of the whistle, which a human being blows, might [[PerfectlyCromulentWord echoessummly]] irritating the ears of the Namek people, the nerve cut any other phase."[[/note]]
** More tidbits from the Speedy Dub:
-->'''Meta-Cooler:''' "You are da trash of the Namek people. You are also still alive. This is a good time. I was thinking that after I [[AccidentalInnuendo BEAT 'DIS MONKEY]], I'm going to the Earth, but it cost me a trouble."\
'''Meta-Cooler:''' At last, you show your real shape[[labelnote:explanation]]The amount of people who've misheard this word as "[[ObligatorySwearing shit]]" is astronomical, thanks to bad sound mixing.[[/labelnote]], Saiya People. If it is not so that is uninteresting.\
'''Piccolo:''' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW05kibG3xU "Goku... now we fight each udda!"]]\
'''Piccolo:''' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pk3UFwumao "YOUR MIND HAS BEEN DAMAGELY CORRUPTED. GET LOST!"]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jZpRTzwteg Paragus' entire speech in the Speedy dub.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ceecaIdd00 Powa.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNav-ljytGI You must be banished.. from this worrrld.]]
* Anything Yakon does. Basically, one of the most dangerous species in the galaxy is called dumb by Goku. And he dies when Goku basically ''overfeeds him''.
** It's just, he gives off a rapey kind of feel...
** At the end of the fight, Yakon tries to kill Goku by eating his energy and turning into a balloon. It fails spectacularly.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxLs4LZzDSI Hey! That's my father's GALLIC Gun!]]
** "Don't forget, some of your cells compose ME!"
** Especially how Cell fails to keep his footing.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNxYHIosQa8 This]]... ''thing'' from the Greek dub.
** Well, now we know where Creator/LittleKuriboh got the inspiration for [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries Melvin]] from.

* A lot of the foreign dubs are [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxZ-VxtVMU4 really, really bad.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnRgPN-ECB4 Here's the Portugese Ginyu voice.]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaf4aa2FbGs Ocean Dub Pui Pui's voice.]]
** "It's duh gravetee! Ten times stronger than Urth."
* Ocean Supreme Kai's reaction to Dabura: "DABORAAAAAAAH!"
* You may find it difficult to take Ocean Dub Cell seriously once you assume from watching [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56ZA0dza3JY this]] that he might've absorbed an opera singer in his quest for power.
** He may, in fact, possess the cells of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQVov2BNIcw Portuguese dub Dodoria]], who one might assume probably ''is'' voiced by an opera singer upon hearing him.
* Vegeta shouting "'''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnPN2yOup9E THEN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE IS GOING TO DIE!]]'''" (Video is a YoutubePoop, but it's the only video containing the scene and you can still feel the Narm pretty well).
* It was during the 'next time' segment, but the narrator just wants you to know that [[https://youtu.be/zmhbMDFSveQ KRILLIN'S IN DA HOUSE!]]
* ''The History of Trunks'' has an opening narration that tells of how Earth's greatest warriors were all killed by the Androids: "Piccolo was the first to try......and the first to die." Real appropriate. Next is this little gem: "Vegeta was next to fall. Then Yamcha and Tien. [[https://youtu.be/16pCRochM3M?t=1m13s EVEN KRILLIN WAS DESTROYED BY THE RUTHLESS DUO!"]] [[SarcasmMode Because Krillin has such a]] ''[[SarcasmMode sparkling]]'' [[SarcasmMode record of cheating death.]]
* And of course, let us not forget Raditz's immortal one-liner towards a [[AnArmAndALeg freshly dismembered Piccolo.]]
--> '''Ah, excuse me, has anyone seen my arm?''' '''[[EvilLaugh Bwahahahahahahahaha!]]''' '''[[CrossesTheLineTwice You can't miss it, it's green!]]'''
** Comes in two [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufDg3dIbw44 distinct]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvaTxBHipK0 flavors]] for your viewing pleasure!
** And just like the "motivational Piccolo" scene above, Creator/TeamFourStar [[SpoofedWithTheirOwnWords didn't change a damn thing about this line.]]
* The scene in which Frieza beats up Vegeta while speaking calmly would've been more dramatic if it didn't have him [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment randomly grabbing a crab and eating it.]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP9IzXxVYpI Watch it here.]]
* Occasionally, the seiyuu's acting will fall flat during some especially dramatic moments:
** In ''Budokai Tenkaichi 3'', this is most noticeable. The player can set the game to be in either Japanese or English. The English voice actors give it their A-game, while the Japanese seiyuus just read their lines out loud. In a fighting game.
** On the other side of the coin, while Creator/ChristopherSabat does a very commendable job as Vegeta in most media, for some reason his ''VideoGame/DragonBallFighterZ'' Dramatic Finish as Saiyan Saga Vegeta (against base form Goku) sounds way more half-hearted than normal, completely failing to mesh with how riproaring pissed Vegeta looks during the animation.
* Vegeta's InternalMonologue about [[JerkassRealization how much he treated Trunks like crap]] is interrupted by Trunks ''throwing up his own blood onto the screen'' while spotting black eyes for some reason. Talk about IdiosyncraticWipes!
* On Episode 130, Vegeta takes a senzu bean from Krillin so he can power up and pursue Dr. Gero. The Brazilian dub features this exchange:
-->'''Vegeta''': *munch* *munch* ...Those idiots really enjoy wasting time.\
'''Vegeta''': *turns super* Very well. You all can go back home and drink milk coffee. And don't interfere with the fight!\
'''Krillin''': Ah, you miserable!... ''Nobody tells us to drink milk coffee!''
** The original dialogue is pretty much the same, but with "a glass of milk" instead of "milk coffee". The translation takes the original joke and dials it up by using "coffee milk", which in Brazil is an expression meaning that someone (usually a small kid) is so bad at an activity the others have to play a watered down game without using their full abilities against them (just like milk coffee milk is a softened up version of coffee). Vegeta is telling the others they're the equivalent of little kids playing with the adults.
* Bojack making {{Ineffectual Death Threat}}s to [=SSJ2=] Gohan despite being vastly outmatched.
* The later Creator/{{Funimation}} dubs of the franchise often (but not always) dub the opening and ending themes into English. These can range from awesome ("Dragon Soul"), to cringeworthy ("Hello Hello Hello"), to hilariously narmful and full of incomprehensible Engrish ("Chōzetsu ☆ Dynamic!").
%%* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksr2d8BPjpQ This scene from the Garlic Jr. saga.]]
* At one point in Goku's fight with Majin Buu, he sees Buu use a move and immediately goes "That's Vegeta's technique!" The intent is to show that Buu is an InstantExpert who can use any move after seeing it once, but the problem is that the move Buu uses is a generic bit of BeamSpam of the sort that countless characters have thrown out on a whim. Even moreso because it has historically [[TheWorfBarrage never, ever worked]], making Goku's fearful reaction all the odder. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f84ciGBhK8o Mocked heavily here.]]

* In the first Broly movie, Goku investigates the sight of one of Broly's attacks, observing the wreckage and supposing that the Legendary Super Saiyan is stronger than anyone they've encountered. He seems to be referring to Broly's leftover ki, but if you take it as him meaning the physical damage done, it comes off as pathetic when ''the planet is still there and the destruction is par for the course for Saiyan fights.''
* Speaking of dubs, thanks to [[BigBad Frieza]] having [[CrossdressingVoice a female voice actor]] in various English dubs, when the Namek saga was dubbed in Hindi for Indian airing (in 2007), they [[ShesAManInJapan turned him into a woman]] instead. One of his most (in)famous BadassBoast in that version was '''"I am the Queen of the Universe!"'''. As a result, a lot of fans who only watched the Creator/CartoonNetwork India version still believe Frieza is a woman.
** The Hindi dub also uses a lot of wrong pronouns at different points. Occasionally, Krillin and Bulma have used the word "aap" to refer to Goku while Goku has used the same while referring to Piccolo. [[https://blogs.transparent.com/hindi/aap-tum-and-tu/ "Aap" basically means "you" but it is usually a pronoun used towards elders or strangers. For familiar people or people around the same age, genrally "tum" is used.]] This means despite being older than Goku, both Bulma and Krillin have talked to Goku as if he is older than them (this may be because Krillin is shorter and thus appears to be a kid of Gohan's age) and Goku has done the same with Piccolo, despite technically being older than him.
* [[Anime/DragonBallZWrathOfTheDragon Hirudegarn's]] introduction is very effective, with Gohan and Videl investigating the monster's sudden attack while the thing itself is hidden from view, save for its lower half. Partway through the fight, however, it becomes apparent that Hirudegarn actually ''is'' just a big pair of legs and a tail stomping around.
* Yamcha randomly singing [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment "Cat loves food, yeah yeah yeah yeah!"]] in the Funimation dub.
* Gero gets his head kicked off by Android 17:
->'''Gero''': Grr! That does it! [[ThatMakesMeFeelAngry Now I am mad!]]
* For those who have read the manga, it is often very easy to tell what part is a {{filler}} scene added to [[{{Padding}} pad out]] a scene in the anime. Characters are in position X, and take action A in the manga, but in the anime version, they are in position X, take action A which fails for whatever reason, then they move to position Y and take action B, then conveniently move back to position X and try A again like actors getting into position on a stage and this time things work out the way it did in the manga. Two examples that come to mind:
** In the Namek saga, Freeza blasts open the ground he and Goku are fighting on creating a huge crater behind which Goku begins readying the Spirit Bomb. In the anime, Freeza blasts a crater open, Goku gets a vision from [[TheRival Vegeta]] (who is naked for some reason, then morphs into his child and great ape form, both of whom are fully clothed), the king and his own father, Bardock (both of whom he has never even seen in his life and probably doesn't know exist,) he attempts to fight Freeza again and after a brief and useless effort, he is kicked back behind the crater and then he starts making the spirit bomb.
** In the Majin Buu saga, Piccolo sneaks up behind [[SquishyWizard Babidi]], the two have a little back and forth before Babidi [[OhCrap realises that he is screwed]], then he gets [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBE cut in half]]. In the anime, when Piccolo attempts his attack, Babidi manages to create a force field barrier around himself saving himself, then attacks Piccolo, who easily [[NoSell no sells the move]], then Piccolo destroys his barrier, forcing Babidi to run, only for Piccolo to sneak up behind him again, and this time, Piccolo manages to slice him up in the belly (not quite cutting him in half like the manga but close enough.)
* When Vegeta knocks out Trunks, after [[FinalFirstHug hugging him for the first time]], the original Creator/{{Funimation}} dub has Goten saying ''"You're his dad! Dads aren't supposed to do that to their son!"'' Yeah, big talk coming from the kid who didn't even have a dad before that day. Thankfully, the Kai version (and thus the Japanese script) has him calling Vegeta mean for attacking someone who just wanted to help, lessening the narm-factor.
* A lot of {{filler}} often results in [[ContinuitySnarl continuity issues]] or even wildly varying characterization of characters from one scene to another, resulting in Narmy moments. One specific example is Son Goten in the Majin Buu saga. The anime (both the original cut and the ''Anime/DragonBallZKai'' version) had Goten bonding over with his father. So when Goku reveals [[ILetGwenStacyDie he let Gohan and Vegeta die]], Goten has a major BrokenPedestal moment. In the manga, Goku still managed to talk Goten into training with him and he only agreed because that way he would be able to avenge [[BigBrotherMentor Gohan's]] death. This is followed by Goku deciding to distract Majin Buu when the situations went South and revealing he has the Super Saiyan 3 transformation, which results in Goten having [[RebuiltPedestal his faith in his father restored]]. Unfortunately, the anime ends up adding Goten saying he fully trusts his father and knows he can distract Buu with his powers and even cheering for him when he does power up, ''along with the scenes'' where he is giving Goku a WhatTheHellHero lecture and then having his RebuiltPedestal moment, where Goku is puzzled by the respect both he and Trunks are giving him and Piccolo revealing that this is because they witnessed Goku's power. So, basically in the anime, Goten has a BrokenPedestal moment, ''then'' he openly cheers for Goku, says he knows his dad can hold Buu off, boasts how super cool his dad is, both in front of him and then behind his back and then, when he acts respectfully towards Goku, both Piccolo and Goku act like it is a sudden change in his behaviour.

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjW0wLl52L0 And this]] is Vegeta's ''second'' best comeback ever.
-->'''Super 17:''' I have to admire your ability to get up after a hit like that.\
'''Vegeta:''' And I admire your ability to ''DIE!''
* Vegeta's sad, sad attempt at growing a mustache. Even his daughter made fun of it.
* The Sigma Force are given pathetically unintimidating voices in the English dub. They give (Base Form) Goku a decent fight, but with every word coming out in a stiff monotone, they sound more like children pretending to be robots and come off as the pathetic QuirkyMinibossSquad they really are.
* The English narrator speaks in a dramatic growl, as if to emphasize how intense the action is. Even if said action is Trunks dressing up as a woman to marry a goofy-looking space monster.
* The whole attempt by Funimation to make ''GT'' DarkerAndEdgier than ''Z'' is so ludicrously forced, right up to skipping the first 16 episodes, that it wheels right around to this instead. The darkening of the tone extends even to Funimation's choice of music, but when mixed with the first 16 episodes' way DenserAndWackier OG Dragon Ball-like stories (like Trunks crossdressing to mislead a giant catfish alien whose whiskers predict earthquakes,) it becomes a massive farce. It’s a blessing that DVD releases allow viewers to have the English dub with the Japanese OST.

[[folder:Dragonball Super]]
* When King Kai yells or exhibits emotion, [[VocalDissonance his seiyuu delivers his lines in a flat monotone voice]]. Granted, Creator/JojiYanami (King Kai's voice actor) was pushing ''86'' at the time and was [[TheOtherDarrin darrin'ed]] pretty soon afterwards.
* The Bang Zoom! dub of ''Super'' isn't too bad per se since it features well known voice actors like Creator/JamiesonPrice and Creator/KaijiTang who did their best (and Creator/WendeeLee got to reprise the role of Bulma from 20+ years ago), but while the choice of Creator/LexLang as Goku isn't a bad idea on paper, the result is basically this. Goku is supposed to be a super strong BookDumb hillbilly but Lang's version of Goku goes so far with that it loops straight into Narm territory. His normal speaking voice has this odd whiny twang that tends to veer towards sounding like [[Franchise/RickAndMorty Morty]], his BigWhat attempt against Beerus sounds more like an imitation of a SassyBlackWoman and during battle, Goku lets out these odd [[FunnyBruceLeeNoises battle cries]] that sound like he's taken up [[Anime/FistOfTheNorthStar Hokuto Shinken]] (funny given who Lang has voiced before.) It's almost a shame they only managed to produce around 50 episodes before being quietly cancelled.
* The official dub of episode 111 of ''Super'' unfortunately turned Hit's elimination by Jiren into this with one major gaff: the Grand Priest declaring Hit as hailing from the 11th universe instead of the correct 6th. Jiren just betrayed his own universe!
* [[https://youtube.com/watch?v=hIfZ0LSVl7s Goku shouting that he’s REALLY, REALLY MAD after finding out that Goku Black killed Chi-Chi and Goten.]]
