Spoon is a rock band from Austin, Texas formed in 1993. The current lineup includes founders Britt Daniel and Jim Eno, as well as Alex Fischel and Gerardo Larios. The group has a very catchy and distinct sound that blends classic rock/punk influences with the experimentation and techniques commonly associated with modern AlternativeRock. To date, they currently have ten studio albums to their name:
* ''Telephono'' (1996)
* ''A Series of Sneaks'' (1998)
* ''Girls Can Tell'' (2001)
* ''Kill the Moonlight'' (2002)
* ''Gimme Fiction'' (2005)
* ''Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga'' (2007)
* ''Transference'' (2010)
* ''They Want My Soul'' (2014)
* ''Hot Thoughts'' (2017)
* ''Lucifer On The Sofa'' (2022)

Outside of Spoon, Britt Daniel has been involved in a number of side projects such as remixing and producing music for other bands like Music/{{Interpol}} and White Rabbits, contributing to the original score for ''Film/StrangerThanFiction'', and most recently, co-founding a new band with members of other established indie acts called Divine Fits. Their well-received debut, ''A Thing Called Divine Fits'' was released in 2012.

!! This band contains examples of:
* AlbumTitleDrop: A strange example. ''Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga'' is apparently named after the piano sounds in "The Ghost Of You Lingers".
* BuryYourGays: "The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine":
-->I wanna play the part of Eddie in ''The Stranger Dance''
-->He makes love to the duke
-->He swordfights the queen
-->He steals the whole show in his last dying scene
* CoverVersion: Spoon have recorded cover versions of songs, most of which were originally recorded by other independent artists:
** "Don't You Evah" is a cover of a song by The Natural History, originally titled "Don't You Ever". Because The Natural History's album ''People That We Meet'' was delayed while they shopped for a new label, Spoon's version was technically released first by a few months - The Natural History's version was also released on Spoon's ''Don't You Evah'' EP alongside various remixes.
** "Held" from ''Lucifer On The Sofa'' is a cover of a song by Smog.
** "Towner" was originally recorded by [=aMiniature=].
** "Me And the Bean" from ''Girls Can Tell'' was recorded by The Sidehackers.
** "I Just Don't Understand" from ''They Want My Soul'' was originally performed by Creator/AnnMargret.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Their first couple of releases, while still fairly popular with critics and fans, have a "louder" and rawer feel to them that could catch people who heard their more recent and popular work first off guard.
* GratuitousPanning: "Trouble Comes Running". The vocals and bass guitar are in the center, the lead guitar and harmony vocals are panned to the right, and the drums are panned entirely to the left.
* GreatestHitsAlbum: Despite albums like these becoming relatively uncommon by the late 2010s, Spoon still released ''Everything Hits at Once: The Best of Spoon'' in 2019, complete with the new song "No Bullets Spent".
* {{Instrumentals}}: Not very common in their output, but ''Girls Can Tell'' has the appropriately named "This Book is a Movie".
* LoopedLyrics: "My Little Japanese Cigarette Case".
* MinisculeRocking: Frequently occurs on the first two albums as well as most of the tracks on ''Get Nice!''. The shortest examples from each are "Primary" (1:10), "Staring At the Board" (0:54) and "Leave Your Effects Where They're Easily Seen" (0:56).
* PerishingAltRockVoice
* ProtestSong: "Don't Make Me A Target" according to WordOfGod.
* ShoutOut: "The Way We Get By" mentions several songs by Iggy Pop and Music/TheStooges - namely "Shake Appeal", "Some Weird Sin", and "Down On The Street".
** The BSide "It Took A Rumor To Make Me Wonder, Now I'm Convinced I'm Going Under" gets its NonAppearingTitle from one of the lyrics to "Something To Talk About" by Music/BonnieRaitt.
* StudioChatter: At the beginning of "Don't You Evah".
* SurprisinglyGentleSong: The quiet, piano-based lullaby "Goodnight Laura", on ''Transference''.
* TakeThat: The lyrics to "Outlier" include a diss to ''Film/GardenState''.
* TextlessAlbumCover: ''They Want My Soul'' and ''Hot Thoughts''.
* TitledAfterTheSong: The band is named after a Music/{{Can}} song.
