Sheryl Suzanne Crow (born February 11, 1962) is an American musician who started out writing jingles and singing backup for Music/MichaelJackson during the 1988 "Bad World Tour" before becoming a successful recording artist on her own, winning several Grammys over the length of her career. She claims her inspiration doesn't root from any particular genre, but her music usually has elements of rock, folk, hip hop, country, and pop.

She had two [[SelfTitledAlbum self-titled albums]]; the first was scrapped, and the second premiered after her short run with the band Tuesday Music Club.

She also sang the title song for the ''Film/JamesBond'' film ''Film/TomorrowNeverDies''.

----
!!All I wanna do is list some tropes:
* AdvertisedExtra: She and Music/VinceGill provided background vocals on Music/BrooksAndDunn's 2006 hit "Building Bridges".
* DarkerAndEdgier: ''The Globe Sessions'' is a very introspective and personal album written while Crow was suffering from depression and the fallout from a failed relationship
** "On The Outside", her contribution to ''Series/TheXFiles'' tie-in album ''Songs In The Key Of X'', has a tense, moody atmosphere (in keeping with the feel of the show), as well as lyrics like "Where do you go when no one cares? / Six feet under / underground".
* EarlyBirdCameo: As a backup vocalist for Michael Jackson.
* EpicRocking: "The Difficult Kind" and "Crash and Burn" on ''The Globe Sessions'' are both over six minutes long. So are "Our Love is Fading" and "Roses in the Moonlight" on ''100 Miles From Memphis''.
* InJoke: The first lyric of the first song on her first album is "She was born in November, 1963/The day Creator/AldousHuxley died." While one could call November 22, 1963 the day Huxley died, most people would reference a [[UsefulNotes/JohnFKennedy different death]].
* LighterAndSofter: ''C'mon C'mon'', the studio album released after ''The Globe Sessions'' is considerably lighter and more upbeat. Compare "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmIlUKo4dQc My Favorite Mistake]]" with "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIYiGA_rIls Soak Up The Sun]]".
* NewSoundAlbum: She does this to a degree with every one.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Sheryl is in her early 60s, though she can easily pass for her 40s.
* PrefersGoingBarefoot: She's frequently barefoot in videos and photos.
* ShoutOut: The opening lines to "All I Wanna Do" (''This ain't no disco/Ain't no country club either'') is a nod to the chorus of "Life During Wartime" by Music/TalkingHeads (''This ain't no party/This ain't no disco/This ain't no foolin' around!'').
* SurrealMusicVideo: "If It Makes You Happy".
* WordSaladLyrics: "The Na Na Song", though some of it is explainable as a mix of wordplay and commentary on early 90's pop culture and politics.
