[[https://www.youtube.com/user/BadLipReading Bad Lip Reading]] is a Website/YouTube channel that takes film segments, footage of politicians, and music videos of pop songs and writes new dialog designed to match the lip movements of the people in the video, with [[WordSaladLyrics little to no regard for making sense]]. In the case of music videos, they produce complete original songs, and substantial editing of the original video is also involved. They got their start in March 2011 with "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GaKaGwch0U Gang Fight]]", a GagDub of Rebecca Black's notorious viral video "Music/{{Friday}}", which took a song about having fun on the weekend and made it into a song about gang warfare and chicken. Most of their works execute a similar dramatic shift in style and tone from the original.

Thanks to an [[https://web.archive.org/web/20150530121918/http://blogs.villagevoice.com:80/runninscared/2011/11/bad_lip_reading.php anonymous interview]], we now know that BLR is produced by a single person in Texas, a "music producer, songwriter, and musician," but their identity remains a mystery. Their songs are being sold completely legally on iTunes (being original works) but the videos may yet fall victim to copyright claims ([[ScrewedByTheLawyers as "Dirty Spaceman" and "(Rockin') All Nite Long" already have]]). A few, like "Trick the Bridesmaid," are based on public domain works and so are safe from takedowns. Starting with the Star Wars BLR trilogy, they've started bringing in guest stars like Creator/JackBlack to contribute their voice talents.

Later on, BLR took a level in worldbuilding and began to create fake [=YouTube=] accounts to publish full versions of songs originally appearing in BLR videos. Although it has not been confirmed, it's widely speculated that the artists behind these songs are fictional and represent aliases of the person behind BLR. These include [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1NV97UYtCQ "Modify" by Kniles]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6WtBpkEzHo "Judy Moonlight" by Faron North]].

----
!!Tropes appearing in Bad Lip Reading clips:

* AboveTheInfluence: Alejandro, who is brave, and dapper, and '''''NOT DRUNK!!'''''
* AcCENTUponTheWrongSylLABle: Although most of their lyrics are quite natural, BLR is sometimes guilty of this, as in this line from "Russian Unicorn":
-->I want to '''shave''' that mustache and then '''have''' gelato!
** From Black Umbrella:
---> "I'ma get dumb and bang a wiz'''ard'''!"
* AccidentalMisnaming: A common occurrence due to the fact that the audio is written over.
** Poor President Obama gets called two different names by two different debate commentators: "Ahmed" by Jim Lehrer and "Percy" by Bob Schieffer. Lehrer also calls Mitt Romney "Matt."
** Joe Biden calls moderator Martha Raddatz "Amy" during the 2012 vice presidential debate.
** Black Widow refers to Bruce Banner as "Percy", Captain America refers to Black Widow as "Trisha", and Bruce refers to Nick Fury as "Bob" in "Redneck Avengers".
** In "Presidential Poetry Slam" Trump does this to his own son, referring to "my fearful son Drake." Trump has three sons, none of whom are named Drake. [[note]]For the record, their actual names are Eric Frederick Trump, Barron William Trump, and Donald John Trump Jr.[[/note]]
* ActionHeroBabysitter: Tyreese to Lizzie, Mika and Judith. Just taking the developments from ''Series/TheWalkingDead'' and running with them, really.
* ActionMom: One of Darth Vader's underlings mentions that his mom is "bonkers with a razor". Upon hearing this, Vader tells him to ask her if she wants a job.
* ActorAllusion: Edward Cullen introduces musical numbers in the third ''[[Literature/TheTwilightSaga Twilight]]'' Bad Lip Reading. It's a little-known fact that Creator/RobertPattinson has dabbled in songwriting ''and'' playing the piano.
* ActuallyPrettyFunny:
** Music/MichaelBuble loved "Russian Unicorn." Gotye and Josh Hutcherson thought "Kicked Your Monkey" and "Hunger Game" respectively were good enough to pass on via Website/{{Twitter}}, and Miley Cyrus actually tweeted "Black Umbrella" to Snoop Dogg.
** Judging by the comments, Ron Paul supporters, a notoriously touchy contingent, appeared to have this reaction when he got the BLR treatment. [[http://www.politico.com/blogs/click/1011/Bachmann_loves_her_bad_lipreading_video.html Michelle Bachmann]], Rick Perry and [[http://www.mrctv.org/videos/herman-cain-watches-bad-lip-reading-spoof-video-him-and-reacts-everybody-needs-toucan-stubs Herman Cain]] all loved their videos, too.
** Harry from Music/OneDirection thought Shadow Pico was hysterical as well, and linked to it on his personal Twitter.
** An NFL fan actually made a giant orange peanut and brought it to a Minnesota Vikings game, where he asked Adrian Peterson to sign it. [[http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/188372911.html Peterson gladly accepted.]]
** Mark Hamill tweeted the "Empire Strikes Back" video and said "What an honor!"
** Most of the "Walking Dead" cast found the videos hilarious, particularly Chandler Riggs who has since introduced himself on more than one occasion as "Carl Poppa".
* AdaptationDistillation: Some of BLR's videos are taken from more than one song. For instance, "Morning Dew" is taken from ''three'' songs, "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars, "Alejandro" by Lady Gaga and "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys
* AdaptationExpansion:
** "That Should Be Me" was divided [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0GutrcKbRM into]] ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gXotGSe_JE two]]'' Bad Lip Readings.
** The 2015 NFL season was deemed [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-kGosnzvjU worthy of two]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtIPmVN6zdc NFL 2016]] Bad Lip Readings.
** Three song samples within the one for ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'' have been turned into their own music videos.
* AdaptationNameChange:
** In "Best Screenplay Nominees", one of the ''Film/SevenPsychopaths'' is renamed Petey, while Calvin from ''Film/RubySparks'' became Chuck.
** In "High School Musical", Troy is renamed Chorky, Gabriella is renamed Lumpkinella, and Zeke is renamed Derf.
** In ''Film/{{Descendants}}'', Mal becomes Bottle, Ben becomes Danny Elephant, Evie becomes Stevie, and Jay becomes Jay Jay.
** In "Medieval Land Fun-Time World Extended Trailer," most of the characters are renamed: Ned becomes Eddie, Robert becomes Bobby B, Joffrey becomes Jojo, Tyrion becomes Terry, Daenerys becomes Denise, Petyr becomes Petey, Cersei becomes Susie, Jaime becomes Jimmy Whisper, and Varys becomes Ferris.
** In ''Stranger Things'', Steve Harrington becomes Steve Hair, Barb becomes Marm, Troy Walsh becomes Luke [=LaGrange=], James Dante becomes Labalti, and Erica Sinclair becomes Roberta.
* AdaptationalSexuality: Barb may have been AmbiguouslyGay in [[Series/StrangerThings the original series]], but the Bad Lip Reading version makes it much more explicit, with [[DubNameChange Marm]] blatantly hitting on Nancy and even pretending to have car trouble so she can [[AutoErotica park on the roadside with her and play love songs on the car radio]]. Nancy's not having any of it.
* AdaptationalVillainy:
** Taylor in ''High School Musical'' goes from Gabriella's best friend to being bigotted towards robots, trying to make Lumpkinella and Chorky break up because she thinks humans and robots shouldn't date, and even mocking her when she starts crying.
** Ms. Darbus goes from a well-meaning but SternTeacher to demanding food from the class, forcing Chad to give her money as punishment for making a dumb joke, and being angry that a student asks a question after she says "Any Questions?".
* AffablyEvil:
** Mitt Romney is very good company, despite being a racist cannibal.
** Petey in "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" EXTENDED TRAILER seems like some shy, cute nerd who thinks he's an evil stud-muffin, but a few scenes after his introduction he reveals he put ''kitten meat'' in everyone's burgers. An extended scene even has him taunt a nauseous Eddie by sending him a picture of himself holding up a cat with the caption "Dessert?".
** The zombies are very polite, and seem to just want to talk or even sing, until the Full version of "Carl Poppa" is released which reveals they still eat people.
-->'''Zombie:''' ''(singing)'' I'm gonna say "Hi" to the guy with the knife!\
(''Daryl tries to stab zombie)''\
'''Zombie:''' Hi!
** Music/RebeccaBlack is just as peppy as in real life, only now she's singing about gang violence and Nazism. This trope presumably also applies to her pleasant Nazis.
** Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine in the ''Star Wars'' videos act much nicer than in the original movies. Vader even apologizes when he cuts off Luke's hand during their light saber duel.
** For your consideration, UsefulNotes/DonaldTrump's mission statement from "Inauguration Day":
--->"Now I pretend I like you, but I hate you inside."
** Kim Jong-Un, who generally comes across as socially awkward and dorky, until "Trump In Asia" when he tries to get Trump to eat a poisoned apple.
* AfterTheEnd: The 'Axe-Assassin Albertson' videos are set up as the product of an AI left alone on Earth in [[ExtyYearsFromNow 2122]] after pollution made the planet unsustainable to life. (though the full version of the theme implies it was due to multiple {{Alien Invasion}}s)
* TheAlcoholic:
** Nicki Minaj, according to "Dirty Spaceman":
--->But I'm feeling fine
--->I'm on bottle 99
** Rebecca Black's friend in "Gang Fight"; she's bombed, by the way.
** Music/TaylorSwift is also "un-sober."
** Music/MichaelBuble drinks fire water.
** Double Take in "Time To Rock": "I have to drink, and that'll make it good."
** [[Music/{{Coldplay}} Chris Martin]] loves his champagne.
** [[Film/TheHungerGames Cinna]] is drunk enough to try and hit on Katniss

* ArtifactOfDoom: Nancy in ''More Stranger Things'' has an evil amulet.
* ArtifactTitle: Usually averted.
** The name "Dirty Spaceman" [[PragmaticAdaptation actually justifies the sci-fi setting]]) -- [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii5IUihNuno Black Umbrella]] is only ''implied'' to be a new weed ie. "the right stuff", and we're never certain if the Russian Unicorn, like those left-nut-targeting monsters, ever existed (this may be justified by the whole video being an ImagineSpot).
** As a [=YouTube=] comment points out, the toxic waste barrels in "Boom Boom Pow" make more sense if they're filled with poop.
** "Yeti" takes the cake by ''adding'' a [[Franchise/StarWars Chewbacca]] outfit to stand in for the titular creature.
* ArtificialLimbs: [[Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan Gwen Stacy]] has a wooden leg, which Peter thinks is really gross. Needless to say, Gwen is offended when she finds out.
* ArtisticLicenseGeography: InUniverse. Michael Buble implies that he thinks Ukraine is part of Russia. He might think that the whole Soviet Union was Russia.
* AscendedExtra: [[Series/TheWalkingDead Carl Grimes]] got two or three lines in the first "The Walking (And Talking) Dead". In the second one he gets ''his own musical number!''
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign:
** The "foreign language" spoken in "Shadow Pico" is essentially gibberish.
** Jimmy Whisper in "Medieval Land Fun-Time World" is quite proud of his foreign language skills:
--->'''Jimmy:''' I mean anyone who puts a slice of pizza on bread is a ''pokache-pokache''. That's Aztec for "lazy farmer". I looked on Wikipedia.
* AssShove: Poor Joe Biden.

'''Ingram:''' Wippa Zow. Or some people call out "Greg!" Or Booty Febacca, or Coco Bolivia, or Human Stick Observer. All these are not really that great, except for Dolphin the Goldfish. I really like fish-based names!
* AuthorAppeal: Despite the lean towards spoken-word clips nowadays, musical numbers tend to find their way in. The "Broadway" thing from [[Series/TheWalkingDead The Walking (and Talking) Dead"]], for one.
* AutoTune: Mostly in "Everybody Poops" and "Dirty Spaceman".
* AxCrazy: [[{{Yandere}} Clove]] goes "loco crazy" after Katniss goes out with her boyfriend Brian.
* {{Backronym}}: Why the music video that takes place on ''[[FIlm/TheEmpireStrikesBack Hoth]]'' is named "'''H'''ostiles '''O'''n '''T'''he '''H'''ill".
* BadassBoast:
** Jay-Z's "[[Franchise/StarWars I'm Han, you're Greedo]]" definitely counts.

** Wiz Khalifa's "I'm an alchemist, the beat is my base metal."
** [[Series/GameOfThrones Tyrion's]] "I oughta smack you 'till Friday, and it only Wednesday" may not be the typical kind, but it sticks in the head well enough.
** "Carl Poppa" has several, most notably "You cannot handle the flow, son!"
** The X-Wing pilot rap from "Empire Strikes Back" is packed full of boasts, most memorably "You're like a soup can, I'm like Superman."
*** According to "Hostiles on the Hill" it was a full blown ''rap battle'' between Luke and the AT-AT commander.
** George W. Bush's "I'm braver than a lion".
** Donald Trump's "Kid, I pogo greater."
** Jeff's mother's "I'm an ovalfish, sucker! I'm a four-eyed gnome!"
** Rick Perry's "I'll fight a chicken with hands".
** Mark Barron claims, "I [[CruelAndUnusualDeath melted]] a lot of people."
* BadBadActing: The kids in "Stranger Things" do a really piss-poor job of delivering lines during their one-act play.
* BearerOfBadNews: After Music/TheBeeGees found a hobbit shot dead on Ludacris's mountain, they had to break the news to the hobbit's son.
* BearsAreBadNews: During the first presidential debate, Jim Lehrer warns Mitt Romney that the sofa bears don't know that he can be sent whooshing into space if he were a robot. He then tells Romney and Obama to go right off, [[LetsGetDangerous and that he'll defeat]] '''[[BadassBoast 17]]''' [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass bears]] [[OffscreenMomentOfAwesome while they're gone.]]
* BeastlyBloodsports: The lyric "I'm gonna find a chicken fight" in "Everybody Poops".

-->You can always count on me to show those other girls just how to lay it down, down, down.
-->...Every girl get they freak on please, you are the one that can bring him to his knees
* BecomingTheMask: "Soy Pablo" is about a lookalike of Pablo Escobar having to infiltrate Escobar's family compound, only for him to eventually realize that he likes living there. Also inverted -- the family almost instantly realizes he's not the real Pablo, but decides they like the fake more anyway.
* BelligerentSexualTension: Katniss claims that Peeta knows he's attracted to her as she slams him into a wall and yells at him
-->'''Katniss:''' You ''know'' you wanna go ''dance'' with me.
* BerserkButton:
** Greenish potatoes and soggy fishsticks for apl.de.ap (re. "Everybody Poops")
** Don't fart when you're on Ludacris' mountain, [[DisproportionateRetribution or you will be shot.]] [[FelonyMisdemeanor Twice.]] [[CrossesTheLineTwice And your corpse looted by]] Music/TheBeeGees. Although Ludacris denies ever shooting anyone, and blames a ghetto hobbit with an Uzi, but he might just be trying to cover his ass. He'll definitely use karate on you though.
** Don't call "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" a RenaissanceFair if you don't want the wrath of [[Series/GameOfThrones "Eddie" Stark]] on you.

** A player in "The NBA" goes on an aggressive rant after apparently learning that someone doesn't like snow.
* BigEater: Their AlternateCharacterInterpretation of Rascal Flatts' Gary [=LeVox=] seems to be this. "Hot Jumping Beans" is about food to begin with, but while Music/JustinBieber mainly sticks to the topic of beans, [=LeVox=] keeps bringing up other kinds of food.
-->'''BACON!!!''' Yeah, whoo... ''ham.''
** [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_jumping_bean Justin has...interesting culinary tastes.]]
--->'''I'M HUNGRY!!!'''
** Deconstructed in "Russian Unicorn":
---> "I should not have ate those Cajun rice and beans... [[AesopAmnesia Them strawberries look juicy]]"
** Also seems to apply to Rick Perry in his soundbite, where he spontaneously lists food and proclaims that he is "bored by famine."
** Obama in Trick the Bridesmaids lists food America has been short on.
** The Yeti, who even gets called out on it.
** Bob Schieffer seems to have a thing for bacon-crusted rolls, comparing them to crack-filled sandwiches. This is followed by Mitt Romney proclaiming his love for [[YourFavorite ground meat]] [[BrainBleach on spinach]] and "[[IntoxicationEnsues scum brownies]]".
** Deconstructed with Jacob Black. Apparently, even werewolves have problems with soul food, especially if it's made with porpoise meat.
** Give Herman Cain a large plate of UsefulNotes/McDonalds special, and he'll sing, sing, sing about it.
** Adrian Peterson has exotic interests in food which includes egg rolls, cookies, stingrays, and [[Franchise/ScoobyDoo double-sided Scooby-Snacks.]] He also has a thing for orange peanuts, and publicly accepted an interviewer when she offered one. 290--> It's powerful, yeah, powdered ''sugaaaaaaar!''
* BigfootSasquatchAndYeti: Take a guess.
* BiggerIsBetterInBed: Implied to be the case for Alejandro; at the very least, it was good enough for Nicki Minaj.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: InUniverse: One of the few things that makes sense in the BLR Universe is people's reactions to things that are weird [[EveryoneHasStandards even by their standards]], such as Katniss singing because she ate fruit, Gale going on a carboard diet, and Hershel Greene suddenly acting senile.
* BigNo: Prim's reaction when Katniss tells her she's the devil.
* BilingualBonus: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjaZNYSt7o0 "Russian Unicorn"]] -- 'Российский единорог' is a literal Russian translation of the name for the eponymous creature.
* BlackComedyAnimalCruelty: The end of the chorus of ''Kicked Your Monkey'' is "I kicked your monkey, then I used your goat".
* BlackSpeech:
** The parts that were not "translated" in "Shadow Pico" are implied to be this.
** The "demon"'s unintelligible speech in "More Walking (And Talking) Dead: Part 2".
* BlahBlahBlah: [[Series/GameOfThrones Varys taunting Petyr Baelish]] is... decidedly simpler in this version.
* BlatantLies:
** In La Fway.
-->'''Beyonce:''' [[TitleDrop La Fway]] Fway, babe, I'll try to use my words. ''(incomprehensible gibberish)'' I'll punch your neck!
** In ''More Stranger Things'', Mike hands Eleven a waffle... while telling her it's a muffin.
* BoastfulRap: Plenty, since most of BLR's songs are rap or hip-hop in some way. It's the subject matter that tends to be odd, like "Everybody Poops".
* BodyHorror: The Governor in ''La-Bibbida-Bibba-Dum'' claims "I once knew a kid, his tongue fell off in his sleep".
* BodySnatcher: Gotye in ''Kicked Your Monkey''
-->"I'm body snatching you and then I'ma change your diaper!"

** Implied. Obama starts the election by insisting that Governor Romney is black, and that "'black' can be judged," but he can't find the words to describe what he means after this.
** apl.de.ap seems to sympathize with the Black Eyed Peas' FantasticRacism towards androids, despite being a "soft machine man".
* BrainBleach:
** Bella is understandably grossed out when Jacob says his shoe leaks sock grease.
** Han Solo has a moment of this with the Ewoks:
-->'''Han:''' Where's the sink?\
'''[=C3-PO=]:''' Why? Do you need to wash your hands?\
'''Han:''' No, I'm just curious where ''they'' wash their hands.

** From Herman Cain:
-->All you can do is give that woodchuck a tuna melt, or romantic shoes, or a metal skull crusher.
** From "The Force Awakens," Leia attempts to find something that makes Han Solo happy.
-->A pickle? A zoo? A sassy vagrant? Six kittens in a bag of water? [[ToiletHumour Poop on a stick]]?
* BriefAccentImitation: Katniss briefly switches to a Southernish accent.
-->"And the police ate Timothay!"
* BrickJoke:

** The cake that Bella ate was Edward's "Most Bestest Creation".
** In More NFL, Peyton Manning is asked what kinds of things [[BrainBleach gross him out]]. One of the items on his list is "doo-dads that scratch the wood. Like, scratchy things, y'know?"
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Rick Santorum. According to him, he's crazy, [[TheCuckoolanderWasRight and he's right]].
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: In "Stranger Things" Mike casually informs the viewer that his friend Will is "currently lost in another dimension" as though he's discussing the weather.
* ButtMonkey:
** [[Series/GameOfThrones Jojo(Joffery)]] gets feces thrown at him, slapped and insulted repeatedly, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and the park manager hates him]].
** Jim Webb in "First Democratic Debate Highlights: 2015". Nobody knows who he is and even Bernie Sanders doesn't like him.
-->'''Bernie Sanders:''' Jimmy, [[FriendlessBackground I'm sure you'll make a friend someday]]... a friend that doesn't treat you like human waste.\
'''Jim Webb:''' Heh. [[InherentlyFunnyWord Poop!]]\
'''Bernie Sanders:''' Ugh... shush, Jimmy. Shut it, okay?
* CallBack:
** At the end of "Russian Unicorn", a muzak version of "Everybody Poops" can be heard playing in the background.
*** Came full circle with "The Walking (and Talking) Dead", which features one scene where Rick and Glen are driving somewhere in a car. "Russian Unicorn" can be heard playing on the car's radio.
** Ludacris actually [[ShoutOut shouting out]] "Gang FIGHT!" in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmobkT8IuxM "Magic Man"]]. The intro for "Gang Fight" can be heard in some later videos as a reverse-VanityPlate.
** And "Magic Man" brings up windmills, right after "Black Umbrella" did.
** You can hear "Morning Dew", "Russian Unicorn", ''and'' the tune from the end of "Medieval Land Fun Time World" in "Twilight III".
*** The book on moss shown in "Twilight III" is credited to T(iny) T(immy) Tokyo, who was mentioned in "Black Umbrella".

** Anthony the Turtle gets a Cameo in the third "The Walking (and Talking) Dead" video.
** [[Literature/TheTwilightSaga Edward Cullen]] gets his mind blown by the fact that "mouses have wee-wees" in "Edward and Bella", a fact that is later corroborated by Dr. Ben Carson in his closing statement song at the end of "FIRST REPUBLICAN DEBATE HIGHLIGHTS — 2015".
** At one point in "Redneck Avengers", when Steve and Tony are talking, you can faintly hear "Carl Poppa" playing in the background.
** In "More NFL" Trent Cole warns us that "the ghost is near." Later on, in "Return of the Jedi," Luke warns Leia that Vader is near, prompting her to ask "you mean like a ghost?"
** "My Stick!" repeatedly references "Seagulls! (Stop It Now)". Yoda mentions seagulls being the worst on multiple occasions and that his stick was born from a log, and there's even a clip from the older video.
** In "Nobody Wants My Bread”, Fergie still has bowel issues from "Everybody Poops", because she pooped out glass last night.

** From "Ron Paul":
-->'''Ron Paul:''' I'm Ron Paul!
** Ted Cruz: "Your face is not my face."
** In "Morning Dew", Bruno Mars gives the advice "don't freak if your Xbox ain't a payphone."
* CardCarryingVillain: Petey describes himself as "the evil stud muffin".
* ClearMyName: Ludacris denies shooting the hobbit on his mountain, claiming it was a ghetto hobbit with an Uzi.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Most of the people who get the BLR treatment come out this way.
** Notably, Katniss is treated like this InUniverse. Gale calls her crazy, and Haymitch advises her never to have children after he finds out she can't eat fruit without later singing.
* ComicSutra: The "Mary Lunch Limbo", a favorite maneuver of Newt Gingrich, involving [[NoodleImplements four porpoises and a wet Nigerian]].

* CriticalDissonance: "High School Musical" has an InUniverse example: [[spoiler:Despite the standing ovation, Chorky and Lumpkinella come last place in the talent show]].
* CrossdressingVoices As noted earlier, BLR is all the work of one man, which means he ends up gag-dubbing with female voices a lot. Though there's probably some studio trickery involved, his female singing voice is pretty convincing.
* CrossoverCosmology: [[Literature/TheLordofTheRings Hobbits]] and [[Franchise/StarWars Padawans]] are both apparently well-known real beings in the Bad Lip Reading 'verse.
* CutenessProximity: In "Not the Future", C-3PO asks for multiple baby Ewoks to squeeze.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Songs about fun and partying become songs about gang warfare and drugs. Even songs about love can be turned movie trailers about tribes summoning demons.
* DarkerAndEdgier: "Sample of My Pasta", the first BTS song, is a light-hearted and cheery song about someone eating Jimin's pasta. Their next song, "Monster Run", is a far darker song about all the horrible things a monster can do to you if you don't run away from it. Appropriately, the latter song was released on Halloween.
* TheDeadCanDance: One of the zombies in ''Carl Poppa'' has the line "Yeah I, just like, to dance, YEAH!", and "More The Walking (And Talking Dead) Part 2" ends with a zombie dancing with joy upon finding out the governor wants him to make a smoothie.
* DeadpanSnarker: Katniss, at least until the ''Film/TheHungerGamesCatchingFire'' episode came out. After that she became the {{Cloudcuckoolander}}.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment:[[Characters/{{Hamilton}} Eliza Schuyler]] says "The pregnant girl's pregnant."
* DirtyOldMan:

* DomesticAbuse: Hillary Clinton on Bill, according to "Hillary Stories". Her response to seeing him have a nervous breakdown due to a locust phobia is to do a prank where she scratches his veins open and makes him bleed "so good."
** Peter Parker. He eats Gwen's pets, raps about how gross her fake leg is, and threatens to slap her because he hates her food.
* DreadfulMusician: Paul Ryan.
* {{Druid}}: Peeta claims to be one, at least.
-->'''Katniss:''' What does that even mean?
-->'''Peeta:''' ''[suggestively]'' Oh, ''you'll'' see.
* DullSurprise: T.Y. Hilton in More NFL.
-->"Hey wow, it's a cat fight."
* DumbIsGood: The Double Take girls seem to believe this, since they mention that they like "dum-dums" (though it's possible they could be referring to the brand of lollipops as well).
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The earlier songs focused more on the WordSaladLyrics aspect of them. Later songs and parodies, on the other hand, while still nonsenical, had a genuinely coherent story that a listener could follow and make sense of.
** "Gang Fight" had its subtitles embedded in the video instead of as optional closed captions.
* EatsBabies: Nicki Minaj, in "Dirty Spaceman" would "love to eat a bag of children" and "cook 'em 'over easy' on a Monday"
** King George in part 5 of "Axe-Assassin Albertson" sings about "children drumsticks" in "Elven Bodyglove", and even ''names'' the children he's turned into drumsticks for good measure.
* EatTheDog:
** [[Literature/TheTwilightSaga Edward]] expresses a desire to eat Bella's pet rabbit in "More Twilight" and [[Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan Peter]] eats Gwen's pet pig and feathered duck in "Peter and Gwen" just because he likes juicy pork.
** Petey Baelish serves the group kitten meat.
---> What? They're just baby cats, jeez.
** Also, from ''Film/JeffWhoLivesAtHome'', when Jeff is on the phone with his mother he tells her "The puppy, I ate it!" Later he asks if she can snag another puppy for him.
* EldritchAbomination:
** It's highly implied that "Shadow Pico" is one of these, and the members of One Direction are gathering to summon him.
** Music/TaylorSwift is a firewalker with five legs. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And she drools on couches.]]
** The monster from "Monster Run" is this. They hide under peoples' beds and in the trees and want to steal their soul, which they do by wrapping around your body and crawling up your nose. They can also hang your spine on a tree, and are described with having twin tentacles and dark, prickly tongues.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Darth Vader reveals that his nickname in middle school was "Flower".
* EnfanteTerrible:
** Prim in "The Hunger Games" sure gives off this vibe, and is outright stated to be the devil.
** Dustin in "Stranger Things" gives a BigYes upon hearing that Mike's mother might die. Mike also urges the bullies to cut Dustin's throat (because he doesn't want to be in suspense about whether they'll actually do it), [[EvenEvilHasStandards prompting the bullies to ask him why he's so evil.]]
* EpicRocking: "Morning Dew."
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Special mention must be made of the Rick Santorum video for getting this over with ''in the first line''.
--> [[InsaneTrollLogic "I'm crazy... and I'm right."]]
* EvenTheSubtitlerIsStumped: Played with in "LA FWAY" in which Beyonce's scatting is subtitled in gibberish.
** Also played with in "Shadow Pico". While the [=YouTube=] subtitles contain a translation of the "foreign language", it doesn't bother translating the singing.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Former Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub likes to kick his cat, but only when she's not pregnant.
** The only reason will.i.am turned down an offer of sex from a girl who was both [[PaedoHunt underage]] and [[{{Gonk}} so ugly]] that he compared her to [[Film/TheFly1986 Brundlefly]] was because her ass was too flat for his tastes.
** Even though Gotye works with the Sith he considers them "greasy little freaks".
* EveryoneIsBi: Implied to be the case in "Twilight III".
-->'''Carlisle:''' I believe he said we should all make out.
-->'''Rosalie:''' I thought that we just did!
* EverythingIsAnInstrument: In "Seagulls! (Stop It Now)", Yoda adds extra percussion to the song by banging on R2-D2 with his walking stick, despite R2's protests.
* EvilLaugh: Mitt Romney has one.
-->I'm very good company. [=EhahahahahAHAHAHAHAHA=]!
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: The premise at least; the actual songs, not so much.
* ExtremeOmnivore:
** One of the Double Take girls admits to eating a big rock.
** Ted Cruz has a liking for human hair.
* EyeTake: Music/NickiMinaj has a rather amusing one in "Dirty Spaceman", after Music/WillIAm admits that a teenage chickenhead that looked like [[Film/TheFly1986 Brundlefly]] said to him, [[UnusualEuphemism "Can you leave your wrinkled willie glue inside my ocean, please?"]]
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: One of the press corp members in "White House Press Briefing" (nicknamed by Sarah Sanders as Chomp) describes guys like himself in this manner. "Like, our eyes are really honest, but then our brain's got a violent virus!" Sanders could not care less.
* FakeBand: The [[PeriodPiece AM Gold]] type song Lindsey Graham is caught singing during the Mark Zuckerberg hearing, "Judy Moonlight," was actually made by BLR and released on [=YouTube=] and Spotify under the name "Faron North."
** This has become a [[MemeticMutation mutated meme]] as BLR fans have begun to build an entire mythos around North in the [=YouTube=] comments, reaching something akin to the "[[FakeMemories Mandela effect]]."
** It's also [[IntendedAudienceReaction accidental]] FridgeBrilliance because the song is so catchy, viewers themselves catch ''themselves'' singing the song at random moments.
* FakeShemp: "Yeti" has added footage of Chris Martin running after the Yeti. Since they couldn't get the ''real'' Chris Martin, they used a lookalike wearing his outfit from the video, who is almost always filmed from behind (except for one quick shot incorporating green-screened footage from "The Scientist")
* FantasticRacism: Music/TheBlackEyedPeas believe androids should be destroyed. Apl.de.ap appears to agree with the rest, despite being a [[BoomerangBigot soft machine man]].
* FeatheredFiend: The seagulls that harassed Yoda on the beach according to his song.
* FelonyMisdemeanor:
** Loki takes extreme umbrage at some of [[Comicbook/BlackWidow Trisha's]] food habits.
-->'''Loki:''' "Lil' Buddy told me everythang. Like how you like your chicken strip on the underside of the bread? What are you thinking?!"
** From "Eye of the Sparrow":
-->'''Mitt Romney:''' That dude's the sickest. We hate him. Because he had eggs for a bath. Gonna throw up tonight.
* LeFilmArtistique: Parodied in "Shadow Pico", which is done in the style of a foreign art house film (with the "foreign language" being gibberish and the English subtitles being ridiculous attempts at being profound).
-->''"I am left alone with no spoons or towels, and the rain is in my heart!"''
* {{Flanderisation}}: Played deadly straight in "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" (adapted from ''Series/GameOfThrones'', mind you), despite being a deliberate LighterAndSofter interpretation (PlayedForLaughs of course).
* FollowTheBouncingBall: "High School Musical" has onscreen lyrics and a bouncing basketball appear during the last song.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: One of the things said by Gary [=LeVox=] near the end of "Asian Baby", the first BLR based around Justin Bieber and Rascal Flatts' "That Should Be Me," is "Cheese fries, next time," said directly to the viewer. The ''second'' BLR based around "That Should Be Me?" [[spoiler:The food-themed "Hot Jumping Beans".]]
* FormulaBreakingEpisode:
** BLR takes on a RippedFromTheHeadlines approach with spoken-word videos.
** "Beard with Glue" could also count, being devoid of the usual hiphop flavor.
** "High School" starts a new trend by using ''movie footage''.
** "Shadow Pico" takes it even further by posing music video footage ''as'' movie footage into a RealTrailerFakeMovie. Also, most of the dialogue is lip read as some sort of foreign-language sounding gibberish.
** "THE NFL", of course, is the first-ever reading consisting of sports footage.
* FreezeFrameBonus
** The still of Ludacris and his "magic goose" in "Magic Man" (shown right after the "Gang Fight" CallBack). It's shown just long enough to register, but the pause button is needed to make out the funnier details.
** Also, in "(Rockin') All Nite Long", once Music/TaylorSwift appears to be checking her armpit odor, "sniff" appears on the screen for a very short time. [[BrickJoke Turns out it corresponds to a later verse where shes sniffing a flower.]]
** Happens again in "Dirty Spaceman", with a reflection of the Dirty Spaceman in the tv screen before it's switched on, and will.i.am edited to look like a pink bunny at 3:23.
** Yet again in "Morning Dew," with a monkey appearing on Jay-Z's shoulder at 1:41. The still of Jay-Z edited to look like Han Solo might also count, but it's up for a bit longer than most such shots. There's also a shot around 3:23 where Music/BrunoMars holds up a picture he drew of a pink ice castle, a green hotdog, and 'three light snacks.'
** There are a few quick shots in the buildup part of "Shadow Pico" that shows Louis turning into a vampire.
** Those signs added to "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD".
** "Redneck Avengers" briefly has a sign that says "Stay out! If the dog don't get you the Hulk will!"
** "More NFL": Jim Harbaugh shows off his spinning around technique during the "49ers Talent Show."
*** Carson Palmer complains about "that owl -- blending in?" when his team is on 3rd and Owl.
** "NFL 2015": Jim Caldwell's rant to an official about "the funk-house kind" of strong pickles is transcribed in the upper left corner next to the score.
* FriendlyEnemy
** Bruno Mars is gonna send flowers to all his foes.
** Matt Birk of the Baltimore Ravens wants to make Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals a mai tai. Unless it's a bother.
** Darth Vader apologizes for cutting off Luke's hand during their duel. Luke also seems sincerely disappointed that Vader doesn't notice his new shoes.
** Luke Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine casually discuss what their ideal girlfriends would be like. Luke then offers to teach Palpatine how to do the turkey trot right before Palpatine tries to electrocute him.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Listen to the background chatter at the end of "Russian Unicorn".
-->'''Guy:''' [[spoiler:What a whackjob.]]
-->'''Girl 1:''' [[spoiler:Did he say he drinks fire water?]]
-->'''Girl 2:''' [[spoiler:He thinks monsters are trying to get his testicles!]]
** Now listen to the background music playing in the same scene. [[spoiler:It's a muzak version of "Everybody Poops."]]
*** Something similar is done in "The Walking (And Talking) Dead" -- while Glenn and Rick are talking in the truck, "Russian Unicorn" can be heard faintly on the car radio.
* FunWithAcronyms: "Hostiles on the Hill", the song from their dub of ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'', is a dub over the Battle of Hoth.
* GagDub: As applied to pop music, films, and politicians.
* GagSub: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYNJwpHWsBg "Shadow Pico"]] manages to be both this and a GagDub, with a translation of the [[AsLongAsItSoundsForeign "foreign language"]] Music/OneDirection is speaking hidden in the [=YouTube=] subtitles. What they're saying is already gibberish, but the "translation" is even more ridiculous.
* GaggingOnYourWords: Barack Obama can't quite bring himself to say "Elvis Presley had sex appeal" as part of his being sworn in as president.
* GenreShift: BLR has shifted from music videos to politicians to movies and TV shows.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: InUniverse; in "Not the Future", Luke mentions that he was big in Japan.
* GetItOverWith: In "Stranger Things" Mike actually urges his bullies to kill Dustin, because he doesn't want to wait in suspense to see whether they'll actually go through with it. Even the bullies are appalled at this.
* GirlfriendInCanada: Gale tells Katniss that if she sold her pet iguana named Frank, she'd be able to have a boyfriend. Katniss claims very suspiciously that she ''does'' have a boyfriend...named Frank.
* GlamourFailure: Being afraid to make eye contact is a sign that you're an android, as is a lack of defecation.
* AGoodNameForARockBand: In "Paul Ryan's Video Diary", Paul Ryan mentions that his band can't use the name "Steak Baby" anymore, so he rattles off some other names they've been considering. Among these are "Porky Puff", "Joy Nuts", "Booty Reactions", and "Tree Pie".
* GoKartingWithBowser: In "Hostiles on the Hill," Imperial officer General Veers laments that rebel pilot Zev Senesca won't be able to make it to "the barbecue"... After he blows up Zev's speeder.
* GrailInTheGarbage: Music/TheBeeGees looted a ring off a dead hobbit, implied to be [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings the One Ring]], and pawned it for a small handful of cash that they used to go on a vacation.
* GRatedSex: Katniss just plants one on Peeta in "Hunger Games".
-->'''Peeta:''' And that's how babies grow?
-->'''Katniss:''' You got to be kidding.
-->'''Peeta:''' It's not?
** Terry gives Susie a face lick in "Medieval Land Fun-Time World." She tastes real good.
* GratuitousEnglish: Invoked in "Shadow Pico" to conserve the foreign art house movie feeling. For most of the video, the members of One Direction speak in [[AsLongAsItSoundsForeign foreign-sounding gibberish]], until the very end when Zayn says two lines in English (and both of them are somewhat threatening).
* GratuitousNinja: The Ninjas in ''The Force Awakens''.
* GrievousHarmWithABody: From the extended version of "Carl Poppa": "If you try to step to me / hit you in the femur / with another femur that is laying on the ground, yeah"
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: Taylor Swift from "Rockin' All Nite Long":
--> And I wanna have fun.
--> Un-sober, I'm thinking you could hook me up
--> With a bottle of Platinum Patron

* HealthcareMotivation: The deleted scenes of "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" reveal that Eddie is trying to run the park because his daughter needs "toenail transplants".
* HotterAndSexier: BLR's naughty reinterpretations of Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Michael Bublé have left many Website/YouTube commenters finding them more attractive than before, despite all video clips being taken straight from the original videos.
* HumiliationConga:
--> '''Music/LadyGaga:''' "A midget said "[[EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench Speak with an accent]]", so I did, just so I could steal his Porsche [[BondageIsBad while he was tied to a stake...]] [[KickTheDog in the rain]]"
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** Mitt Romney makes multiple YourMom statements... But he doesn't want his son speaking bad about his mother, even ''if'' he's a party rapper.
** Sharpay in the bad lip reading of ''Film/HighSchoolMusical'' is flirting with Chorky when he burps, and she tells him that she likes burps. (And loogies!) Shortly afterward in the lunchroom scene, she hears a girl say that burping is her passion, and calls it "nasty, like tuna on a stick."
* HypocriticalHumor:
** Rick Perry cracks up at the nonsensical statements made by his opponents during debates, when he did the same thing in RealLife.
** Daryl Dixon calls Rick Grimes out on gluing a wig to a mannequin, when he glued a beard to the same one. When Rick points this out, Daryl responds "You're not the glue police."

%%** In "NFL 2015," Greg Gumbel accidentally serves Trent Green rodent meat. %%What was Trent Green's reaction?
* INeedToGoIronMyDog: In the 2016 "Debate Night!" video, after Donald and Hilary admit how much they hate each other and things start to get really tense, Lester Holt claims he just remembered he has a dentist appointment and needs to leave soon.
* ImAHumanitarian:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MufJJ9Yj8Mw "Dirty Spaceman"]]: "I'd love to eat a bag of children, cook 'em over easy on a Monday".
** {{Downplayed}} by Ted Cruz, who eats human hair.
** A teacher in "High School Musical" casually mentions that she ate a 26-year-old man and a wild boar. Sharpay is understandably freaked out.
* ImaginaryFriend: Marvin the Cat may be this, since Peeta asks Katniss to hug him every night before admitting that Marvin isn't a real cat.
* ImagineSpot: The entirety of "Russian Unicorn".
* ImplausibleDeniability: Ludacris vehemently denies shooting that hobbit on his mountain, instead blaming a ghetto hobbit with an Uzi. Although he does admit to using karate on the hobbit.
** Tony Stark in ''Redneck Avengers''
-->'''Tony:''' Hey, guess what? [Burp]
-->'''Pepper:''' Did you burp in my face again?
-->'''Tony:''' Nuh-uh.
* ImpliedDeathThreat:
** When Bernie Sanders is told he lost the Noun challenge, he immediately tells moderator Anderson that he sees a dead person, and that he has Anderson's eyes.

** In "High School Musical", one of the basketball players randomly asks Chorky "do you like oxygen?"

* InnocentlyInsensitive: [=C3PO=] calls Jabba the "Big Slug Guy Thing", and claims it's a perfectly good description of him when [=R2D2=] calls him out on it.
* InsaneTrollLogic: BLR is full of bizarre leaps of logic. "Medieval Land Fun-Time World" has some great examples:
-->'''Jo-Jo:''' In the basement I hid some tube-socks.\
'''Sansa:''' That was just crazy, who hides dumb tube-socks?\
'''Jo-Jo:''' Old Viking dudes...\
'''Denise:''' Well you big jerk, at least I never kissed Jonny Schotzman!\
'''Viserys:''' ''[gasp]'' He was a Capricorn!
* InsistentTerminology: "Medieval Land Fun-Time World" is a theme park, ''NOT a Renaissance fair''.
* InteractiveNarrator: Jonathan interrupts the narrator in ''[[Series/StrangerThings More Stranger Things]]'' to say "[[FourthWallObserver I can hear you.]]". Made more confusing by the narrator being a grown-up Mike Wheeler talking about his childhood, meaning Jonathan is also somehow talking to someone in the future.
-->'''Narrator:''' You can’t talk to the narrator!
* IntercourseWithYou: "Russian Unicorn"
** will.i.am also recounts this tale during "Dirty Spaceman":
--> All these teenage chickenheads call me all night\
One that looked like [[Film/TheFly1986 Brundlefly]] said to me,\
"Can you leave your wrinkled willie glue inside my ocean, please?"\

** "High School Musical" has one between the human Chorky and [[spoiler:the robot Lumpkinella]].

'''Donald Trump:''' Excuse me?! I don't need the people. I want me, personally. Forget other people!\
'''Audience member:''' [[LampshadeHanging See, that's nasty!]]\
'''Trump:''' Don't talk!
* {{Irony}}:
** In reality Obama's life was quite affected by racism, and yet somehow the first thing he does in "Eye of the Sparrow" is accuse Mitt Romney of being black.
** In ''Catching Fire'' Peeta claims Katniss is pregnant, to satisfy the crowds of Panem, but it's all a lie. In "More Hunger Games" Haymitch tells Katniss and Peeta they should ''never'' have children.
* ISeeDeadPeople: In "NFL 2018": "You know I hate that you have to be a ghost now. Because it's like I talk a bunch to no one. It's just a shame."
* JabbaTableManners: "I ate the cookie, then I gave it back to Benny."
* {{Jerkass}}:
** Whoever the song "Beard With Glue" is about. He sneaks off and punches little orphaned Brazilians, and he drowned his friends in blood. He's so bad that a bullfrog hates him and James Blunt hopes he falls on his burger and fries.
** Gotye kicks monkeys, has wonderful dreams about strangling people, works with the Sith, and if you don't buy his song on iTunes, he'll "use your goat" (whatever that means).
** The girl at the end of the "More Mitt" video. She interrupts Mitt's speech to call out "I wish you would drown".
** Mitt Romney himself tied up a chicken and gave a whipping to a disabled, he ate Fifi, and he will force spiders and badgers on his enemies. He might also be mildly racist.
** Edward Cullen. In "More Twillight", he suggests making stew out of Bella's dead rabbit, forgets to buy Bella's Christmas present, and slaps a fish for some reason, and in the first video he screams at Bella for eating a leftover piece of cake.
** Joe Biden said in a debate that "poor people can suck it!". Paul Ryan claims he's made out of ice.

** Jabba the Hutt ate several pets that Han Solo sent him.
** Matt Schaub implies that he likes to [[KickTheDog kick his cat]], though [[EvenEvilHasStandards only when she's not pregnant.]]

--> '''Rick Perry:''' Man, he'd scalp a sentimental cripple! What a douche!
** Ron [=DeSantis=] calls workers at a restaurant disgusting for no reason, then tells his supporters to eat COVID and says he'd like it if they stepped in front of freight trains.
* JokeAndReceive: In ''Series/StrangerThings'', while critising Sheriff Hopper's "modern jazz", Joyce sarcastically asks if the name of the "song" is "There Was A Weiner On The Buffet", only for Hopper to tell that is, indeed, the name of the song. Joyce lampshades how implausible that is.
* KavorkaMan: In "NFL 2018," Houston coach Bill O'Brien says the girls like jumping on him.
* KickTheDog:
** Cinna smiles cruelly as he asks Katniss who would stop them trying to get together, seeing as her father [[DisappearedDad is dead]]

* KindheartedCatLover: Rick Santorum borrowed meat to provide for his [[WesternAnimation/SylvesterTheCatAndTweetyBird puddy tat]].
* LackOfEmpathy: In ''More Stranger Things'', Mike is more concerned with finding his dummy Randy than the fact that a kid drowned.
--> '''Mike:''' It's not Randy. It's not a mannequin. It's just an actual kid.
* LeastRhymableWord: "Apocalypse", as discussed near the end of "Carl Poppa".
-->I can barely remember pre-apocalypse\
I guess nothing rhymes with that,\
'Cept maybe "taco lips"
* LettingTheAirOutOfTheBand: The ending of OBSIDIOTS first song, when Katniss realises everyone think's they're terrible.
* LiteralMusicVideo: Although not strict literal music videos, many of the lyrics are inspired by things going on in the video, like in "Black Umbrella (The Right Stuff)": "Dude's so crazy, he tryin' to sell me hubcaps." and "Please help me down from this swing"
** "Kicked Your Monkey" does this deliberately to fill a segment left lyric-less in the original.
---> "Lines, lines, intersecting. Ooooh, lines, lines, intersecting now with paint."
** The second chorus of "Seagulls!":
--> Run, run, run, jump\
I can be a backpack while you run\
Swing from a hairy vine\
I can be a backpack while you climb
** C-3PO opens "Not the Future" with these lyrics. The footage is from the scene where the blast doors to the Echo Base are closed, leaving Han and Luke in the snow to fend for themselves, and Chewbacca howls and 3PO awkwardly leaves, not knowing how to deal with Leia.
--> I think it's about time that I walk away, walk away
--> So I turn around to walk away but then I look back
--> Sad lady make me turn and walk away again
** Many of the lyrics for "Sample of My Pasta" have the singers describing what they're doing or whatever surreal images are surrounding them as they sing. For example, J-Hope notes that there's a jet in the sky, and these lines from V:
--> Y'all are freaking me out, then I dance kinda hard
--> Gonna sit down here, ow!
--> Somebody must've lost a spiky ball!
* LittleMissBadass: Rebecca Black is suddenly a lot of bearable when she's singing about paying by blood, making war, gang fights...[[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} and chicken.]]
* LockedInARoom: In the Extended edition of ''La Bibbida Bibba Dum'' from "The Walking (And Talking) Dead" the governor reveals that there is a girl in his basement. Who probably thinks he's a creep.
* LyricalDissonance:
** Take "Carl Poppa" for example. He frequently talks about zombies, bones, and the video shows some bloody moments, but the tune is very upbeat and catchy.
--> ''This whole thing where random dead people try to kill me's gotta go.''
** "Bushes of Love" is similarly upbeat and catchy, but Obi-Wan is singing about the death of Luke's father and how he's now always worried that there's something evil waiting for him in every bush.
** The chorus of "Time to Rock" sounds quite happy, but is actually a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to the viewer.
-->''Are you deaf, boy? I'ma beat you''\
''Ho, we should kick you''\
''It's time to rock (It's time to rock)''\
''Don't wanna disco with yo ass''\
''[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking I hate gorillas]]''\
''We got moves and dum-dums we like''
* MadeOfPlasticine:
** [=C3-PO=] falls apart after... tripping over a wicker basket. This isn't even the first time Lando's seen it happen.
** Barack Obama, if the crazy women in his past were apparently always able to cut him with an [=iPhone=].
* MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext:
** Due to the fact that the whole thing is WordSalad, a ''lot'' of things make no sense, or make sense but are brought up for no reason.
** One example subverts this; Petey says at the table while everyone eats "How did you find the kitten meat?". This time, it's not just a non-sequitur; Petey really did use kitten meat to make the dinner. Naturally, the others are disturbed, and Eddie and Bobby are sick immediately afterwards.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: From "NFL 2016: Part Two."
--> '''Kirk Cousins:''' I may need a kidney... but it's all good!
* ManChild: San Francisco [=49ers=] coach Jim Harbaugh in "THE NFL" just isn't able to wait for his cake.
-->'''Jim Harbaugh:''' I want it now! I want cake NOW! [''beat''] I want it now!
** Dr. Ben Carson. The man was working on a ''puzzle'' when he was called on during the GOP Presidential Debate.
* ManOfAThousandVoices: In [[http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/11/bad_lip_reading.php an anonymous interview with the Village Voice]], the person behind the videos claims to do ALL the voices themself.
--> "I play all the parts and sing all the vocals. Even the girl parts are me. It's a party-trick of mine: I can do a girl voice. I used to call up my friends and speak in the girl voice and they wouldn't know who it was. It's just a thing I can do. But there's also some electronic trickery involved."
* MelismaticVocals: "La Fway".
* MissConception:
** Peeta believes that babies "grow" after GRatedSex, i. e. kissing.
** Martin O'Malley quite obviously has no idea how babies come out of their mothers bodies.
* MixAndMatchCritters: The beast in "Bushes of Love" had "a chicken's head with duck feet, and a woman's face too". No information on what the rest of its body looked like.
* MoodWhiplash:
** "Beard With Glue" has a very jarring one:
--> I saw your friends drowning in blood.
** "Kicked Your Monkey" gets dangerous pretty fast:
--> Been dreaming I could strangle you and it felt so wonderful.
* MusicalisInterruptus: Bella kills the beat during Jacob Black's "Hot Potato" song.
* MyEyesAreUpHere: During an interview with Tom Brady in "NFL 2018" as he insists that "valedictory" isn't a real word the camera starts inexplicably drifting toward his crotch, prompting him to say this to the cameraman.
* {{Narcissist}}:
** Jacob Black.
-->'''Jacob:''' I'm not good... looking. [''{{Beat}}''] I's just kidding. Yeah I am.
** Donald Trump says aloud what most people suspect he's thinking anyway:
-->"Excuse me, I don't need the people. I want me, personally. Forget all the people."
-->"I'm important. You want to be me, don't you?"
* NeverMessWithGranny: An old woman in "NFL 2018" issues this challenge:
--> "Come on up and fight me! Come on!"
* TheNickNamer: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EsUNOIYyKg Sarah Sanders]] has unflattering names for the White House Press Corps.
** Standouts include Greedo, Stank, Creature, Chocolate Curl, Turd, and Varicose Ken.
* NightmareFetishist: will.i.am did not object to having sex with a girl who looked like Brundlefly; the only reason he turned her down was because her ass was flat.
* NightmareFuel: Used InUniverse.
** Bob Stookey considers Creepy Lizzie Samuels to be the stuff of nightmares.
** In "Return of the Jedi", [=C3PO=] refers to Bib Fortuna as "Creepy [=MacNightmare=]".
** The Chicken-Duck-Woman thing in "Bushes of Love". It ripped off Luke's dad face! And combined with NothingIsScarier: it may be in the bushes, waiting for us...
* NobodyPoops: Inverted. [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman Unless you're an android]], [[DisproportionateRetribution in which case, you should be destroyed]].
** And Fergie's got "bowel issues".
* NoodleIncident:
** It took forever to get a ghost out of Nicki Minaj's house, that stupid poltergeist!
** Barack Obama's college had one man who made goats tell time (Trick the Bridesmaid)
** Peter Parker made ''no'' friends buying a spork!
** From "Presidential Poetry Slam":
-->'''Audience member:''' Lady Clinton, what does your friend know about the poop in the basement--\
'''Hillary Clinton:''' [[NonAnswer Ma'am, this question is over.]]\
'''Audience member:''' Oh-okay, Thank you.
* NoJustNoReaction: In "Stranger Things", this is how Mike reacts to Eleven asing him to [[UnusualEuphemism "bleed on her butter"]].
* NoPlotNoProblem: At first, each episode was pure WordSalad, so every video was plotless, and it was rare to so much as find two related conversations in different scenes of the same video.
** "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" EXTENDED TRAILER was the first aversion of this, where it's quickly established that it's about Eddie Stark trying to run a Medieval Theme park, which could become the best of its kind in the world were it not for the fact that most of the employees "work as hard as a bucket of apples". As such, while it is as disjointed as one would expect from a regular trailer, it is possible to identify actual plot threads and character types from the pieces shown.
** "Soy Pablo" is another exception, with a consistent storyline involving the DEA secretly replacing Pablo Escobar with a lookalike double agent.
* NostalgicNarrator: An adult Mike Wheeler is the narrator for the ''Stranger Things'' episodes, discussing the events of his childhood.
* NoTrueScotsman: will.i.am would like you to know that you'll never find a human that steals school supplies. But if you do, let him know who, and he'll beat 'em down.
* NoYay: {{Invoked}}; will.i.am was once solicited by a teenage chickenhead who looked like [[Film/TheFly1986 Brundlefly]], but he turned her down [[ComicallyMissingThePoint because her booty flat, flat, flat]].
* ObligatoryBondageSong: The Bee Gees' parts of "Magic Man".
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: The Governor reveals in the extended iTunes version of 'La Bibbida Bibba Dum' that he has "nine cases of anti-fungal ointment that nobody can use without appointment". This seems like an odd technicality in a zombie apocalypse.
* OhCrap: In "NFL 2020", Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and Texans' Romeo Crennel seem to be involved in some sort of pretend wizard battle. Carroll has this reaction to Crennel's use of "Fright Mode."
** There's also Newt Gingrich's verbal faux pas during a debate:
---> '''Gingrich:''' Hairy chests destroy our power, [[SayingTooMuch and I went poopoo in the egg salad!]] ...and oh Mary, oh my gawrsh, that's not what I wanted to say... Cancer. ''(loudly hocks a loogie and then groans like a zombie as Rick Perry and Sherman Cain both giggle at him)''
---> '''Michele Bachmann:''' [[StunnedSilence ...]] ''[[SurroundedByIdiots (smiles uncomfortably for the camera)]]''
* TheOmniscientCouncilOfVagueness: "NFL 2020" gives us Worldwide Watermelon, and the Worldwide Watermelon Plot.
* OneSteveLimit: Leaving out the Music/NickiMinaj bits in "Magic Man" while she gets due focus in "Dirty Spaceman" seems influenced by this trope. Averted with two Music/JustinBieber videos out (though the second seems like a deliberate followup to the first).
* OnlySaneEmployee: Eddie Stark in "Medieval Land Fun-Time World". He's trying to get the theme park ready for its opening, but everyone else works as hard as "a bucket of apples".
* OnlySaneMan:
** In the Newt Gingrich clip, Michele Bachmann comes across as this during the debate.
** Eddie Stark certainly appears to be this in "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" EXTENDED TRAILER. Sansa also gets this treatment, by virtue of only having scenes with Jojo and Susie.
** Rick Grimes in ''The Walking (and Talking) Dead'' is probably the most sensible person in the zombie apocalypse, although even he has his [[PrettyFlyForAWhiteGuy quirks]]. He is particularly frustrated with how much [[CloudCuckooLander the Governor]] sings.
** Tyreese from ''More The Walking And Talking Dead'' is the first person in BLR history to get annoyed by the spontaneous topic change.
** Creator/AndersonCooper is this in ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_yxGsWHx9o First Democratic Debate Highlights: 2015]]'', having to deal with the various Democratic candidates[=/=]gameshow contestants.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent:
** The zombies in ''The Walking (and Talking) Dead'' series can speak and occasionally try to sing, especially in the second video.
** In "Hostiles on the Hill", [[Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack Dak]] dies when Luke's snowspeeder is shot and he later comes back as a zombie.
* {{Parody}}: Or satire, depending on your point of view. Either one is protected under United States fair use law and BLR makes an effort to present the video clips differently from the original video, potentially to avoid copyright violations. Whether this works is yet to be determined.
** "Gang Fight" fast forwarded through the part of the "Friday" video where Rebecca Black sang the infamous "Yesterday it was Thursday..." lines and goes straight to the rapper in the car, apparently because they didn't write anything for that part of the video. This makes "Gang Fight" about 40 seconds shorter than the original video.
** The images for "Everybody Poops" are (until the end) flipped from the original version of "Boom Boom Pow" and the part where Fergie sings "People in the place..." is used twice in "Everybody Poops" so she can be seen singing "When I'm on the pot..." twice.
** Clips from rap videos are inserted into "Black Umbrella (The Right Stuff)" and "(Rockin') All Nite Long", both parodies of songs not containing any rapping. Of special note, the clips of Wiz Khalifa come from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWAGLkyxQG0 "Black and Yellow"]] which ''[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin actually were black and yellow]]'' but have been tinted blue here.
** "Magic Man" actually ''omits'' all of Music/NickiMinaj's footage from the original, in favor of the apparently random [=BeeGees=] clips from "Too Much Heaven".
** "Dirty Spaceman" is edited so that it appears you are watching the video via a monitor on the ship of the Dirty Spaceman.
*** It didn't stop UMG from taking it down, though.
** Putting certain words on screen may also be an effort to ensure the videos are recognized as parody.
** "Russian Unicorn" appears to be the least altered from the original, although it does have the usual BLR trope of putting certain phrases on the screen.
** At the other end of the scale, since "Morning Dew" has clips from three videos, it would be the ''most'' altered of all the BLR vidoes.
** Like "Everybody Poops", "Beard With Glue" flips the original video for "You're Beautiful" (unlike the above mentioned, however, this stays the same for the entire video). It also adds around another 40 seconds to the video by reversing the part where Music/JamesBlunt empties his pockets, making it look like after he puts everything out, he puts them back into his pockets, and then puts them out again. The video also uses a similar "watching from a screen" technique like from "Dirty Spaceman", except there are multiple screens, as shown in the beginning and end.
** "Kicked Your Monkey" does this very subtly, adding a strobe effect to ''just'' the border, which melds perfectly with the new Eurobeat sound so you don't even notice it's there at first. The random triangle shapes created by the "lines, lines, intersecting" on the walls also flicker with light in time to a quick series of synth notes (that are also heard at the end, with random paint splotches appearing over Gotye and Kimbra in perfect sync with the notes).
** "Time to Rock" adds a blue tint and a smoky effect to the inside of the limousine to fuel the implication that the Double Take girls are currently [[TheStoner high as kites]]. It also adds some rather unflattering stills of the girls to make them look even more high.
* ParodyAssistance:
** Creator/MarkHamill appears in the episode covering ''Film/TheForceAwakens'' albeit as Han Solo instead of Luke. Helped by the fact that he's mainly a voice actor in recent years.
** The ''Film/HighSchoolMusical'' and ''Film/{{Descendants}}'' episodes both aired on Creator/DisneyXD.
* ParrotExposition: Invoked in "More Twilight" during the exchange about earwigs.
--> '''Jacob:''' An earwig. It's like a rotten potato two people flip.
* PerfectlyCromulentWord:
** Ted Cruz needs a bogel for the glotch.
** Barack Obama thinks it's a travesty that words like "hondish", "eubillicant", and "complectogram" don't actually mean anything. Though he admits that if "toelingus" actually meant something, it would probably be disgusting.
** "NFL 2018" gives us "scrism clonk." Also subverted, when Tom Brady insists that the word "valedictory" is this. [[http://www.dictionary.com/browse/valedictory It isn't.]]
* PervertedSniffing: Kylo Ren does this to Rey in "The Force Awakens". According to him, she smells like "cinnamon and something". Later, Rey says she doesn't want to relive it.
* PissTakeRap: Attempted by Peter in "Peter and Gwen".
* PizzaBoySpecialDelivery: Bruno Mars seems to be "delivering" for Lady Gaga in "Morning Dew".
* PoliteVillainsRudeHeroes: The "Star Wars" videos, particularly when Vader [[ApologeticAttacker apologizes for cutting off Luke's hand]] and Luke tells him "you're bad at stuff", which Vader finds really hurtful.
* PottyEmergency: Porpoise meat apparently doesn't agree with Jacob Black.
* PreferableImpersonator: "Soy Pablo" is about the DEA replacing Pablo Escobar with a lookalike to infiltrate his compound and spy on his criminal empire. Pablo's friends and family quickly realize he's not Pablo, but decide they like him better anyway.
* PrettyFlyForAWhiteGuy: Andrew Luck in "More NFL" remarks that he would not want to have a rap battle with his Uncle Jimmy. "I mean, that guy can ''fli-zow!''"
* ThePrimaDonna: Tom Brady, according to "NFL 2019", much to the chagrin of offensive coordinator Josh [=McDaniel=].
-->'''Brady:''' Hey, I'm an icon!\
'''[=McDaniel=]:''' [[OhCrap Oh no, it's happening...]]\
'''Brady:''' Stop standing! Stop drinking! Poke his eye! I'm the star! Hey, he's a spy! You gonna die! Ow!
* PropRecycling: Invoked. Some videos have an obviously CGI plasma TV with a BLR brand name inserted.
* PsychopathicManchild: Kylo Ren has some shades of this when interacting with Han Solo in "The Force Awakens". He attempts to reconnect with Han by showing him a bird finger puppet he made, and when that doesn't work, he takes out a figurine of Han Solo and hits it repeatedly with the finger puppet while saying that the figurine likes it. Then he says the finger puppet just pecked out Han's eyes.
* QueerRomance: Coldplay's singer and a male Yeti form a romance that is queer by every definition of the word.
* RashomonStyle: In "Magic Man", who ''did'' kill that hobbit?
* RealitySubtext: Given Music/TaylorSwift's penchant for {{Take That}}s, starting the chorus with "all y'all haters stop your noise" becomes less random.
** "Asian Baby" has Music/JustinBieber mentioning that he was in Korea, which would have happened for real if 4chan had their way.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: will.i.am even boasts about it.
* RobotGirl: [[spoiler:Lumpkinella]] from "High School Musical" is actually an android.
* RuleOfFunny: The only way to explain the random lyrics that are sung when the video is not currently focused on the singing. For example, in "Black Umbrella", the lines about the Padawan and Tiny Timmy Tokyo both come up when the camera is not on Miley Cyrus' face.
* SadClown: Jin in "Sample of My Pasta". He's feeling low in his soul during the song, so he keeps on dancing to cover it up.
* {{Sadist}}: Governor Chafee drew a picture of a kid with a smashed nose, because he thought it was hysterical.
* SampledUp: Invoked for "Magic Man" with Music/TheBeeGees.
* {{Scatting}}: Beyonce, for some reason, is doing this at Obama's inauguration in the middle of her WordSaladLyrics.
* SecretIdentity: As noted above, the person behind BLR is hiding their real name, reportedly "because they don't want the levity of the Bad Lip Reading series to impact their more serious work."
* SeinfeldianConversation: Up to eleven in various videos. As most videos are WordSalad, the average conversation flits between various meaningless out-of-context topics. In ''The Walking (and Talking) Dead'' and ''Twilight III'', there are even ''songs'' about pointless topics.
* SequelEscalation: "Yeti" broke new ground by adding whole footage cut from cloth; "Edward and Bella" and "Hunger Games" actually shake off some of the WordSaladLyrics and manage to turn out continuous back-and-forth dialogue. "Paul Ryan's Video Diary" goes one step further by replacing ''the background'', completely changing the context.
** "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD" cranks this up to eleven, with signs and hands added all over the place, changing the context despite playing up the {{Flanderisation}}. In the Deleted Scenes, Eddard even uses an iPhone.
** "More The Walking (and Talking) Dead" and "More Hunger Games" still remain plotless altogether, but various scenes appear to have at least some context behind them.
* ShownTheirWork: Yes, that is a real graph of the inverse cosine in "Black Umbrella (The Right Stuff)".
** The new voices for Music/SnoopDogg. will.i.am, and Gotye are ''disturbingly'' spot on. It should be noted that [[ParodyDisplacement Gary LeVox's ISN'T.]]
*** Their Jay-Z sounds good enough that you'd swear it ''was'' him.
*** Their Music/MileyCyrus voice is pretty darn good too, especially in the talking segments (the diet Snapple part and "And I'm pregnant").
** Why is Wiz Khalifa edited into Taylor Swift's video? It might be because the Pittsburgh Pirates logo on the T-shirt he's wearing has been altered to replace the word "PIRATES" with "TAYLOR." But BLR didn't do that. It was shown that way in Khalifa's original video (The Pirate's face was also altered).
** When BLR added their own hands to footage of Lady Gaga in "Morning Dew", there was a tattoo of a peace sign on the left wrist. Lady Gaga actually has a tattoo like this.
** In "Sample of My Pasta", BLR makes an effort to humorously mimic V's throaty singing style during his solo focus. What makes this impressive is that V shouts most of his verse in IDOL (the song being parodied) and BLR would have had to have heard other BTS tracks to be aware of his singing style at all.
* ShoutOut:
** In "Magic Man", They talk about someone killing a hobbit, then Music/TheBeeGees come across the body and sell the [[Literature/TheLordofTheRings ring on his finger]] for $200.
** From the same song, "I ain't see no hobbits in ''Franchise/StarWars''"
** Ludacris is also the [[Literature/HarryPotter magic man at the magic school]].
** Hobbits appear again in "Trick the Bridesmaid" (and Obama is a witness for them)
** From "Black Umbrella (The Right Stuff)": "Oh my gosh, there's never gonna be a better [[Franchise/StarWars Padawan]] than me."
** ''Franchise/StarWars'' seems to come up a lot, since "Dirty Spaceman" has the line "Angel Mouth ate my Jedi Jello". The same song also refers to WesternAnimation/{{Gumby}}, Music/TinaTurner, [[Film/TheFly1986 Brundlefly]] and a Film/ReAnimator.
** And now "Morning Dew" has Jay-Z rapping "[[HanShotFirst I'm Han, you're Greedo.]]" With an appropriately photoshopped picture of Jay-Z. And with a later CallBack in a manipulated Lady Gaga clip.
** Gotye joins in the ''Star Wars'' love... except he's "working with the Sith".
** And let's not forget Joe Biden's [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} "PIKACHU!"]]
** From "High School": [[Film/{{Deliverance}} "That's a banjo!"]]
** Star Wars comes up again in "Yeti", with a Wookiee costume used for the Yeti itself. Also, [[Music/{{Coldplay}} Chris Martin]] watches ''Series/{{Lost}}'' all day.
** Yet another Star Wars reference in "The Walking (and Talking) Dead", where the Governor mentions that he always wanted a Wookiee, but he found out they weren't real. (Thanks for nothing, Creator/GeorgeLucas.)
** [[Film/{{Twilight}} Edward Cullen]] asking Bella "[[Film/InterviewWithTheVampire you wanna do that interview? Wednesday? Thursday?]]"
*** "Twilight III" adds to this with Bella's dad calling Edward "Lestat" and Jacob "Film/TeenWolf".
** Three times in "[[Series/GameOfThrones Medieval Land Fun-Time World]]"
-->'''Tyrion:''' You a fan of the [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Pikachu]]?
-->'''Petey:''' How do you feel about people who go "[[Franchise/StreetFighter Hadouken!]]?
-->'''Tyrion:''' [singing] Mm, [[Franchise/StarWars Darth Vader]] is bad, and his assistant is a mouse. He used the Force to fix his cats...
** Another in the Bonus/Extended Scenes
-->'''Tyrion:''' ''[after slapping Joffrey repeatedly]'' "Yeah, run on, ComicStrip/PrinceValiant"
** The [[Series/SesameStreet Grover]] Mask from "Twilight III".
** Hershel Greene apparently owns [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slender Man]] undies.
** Pepper's [[Franchise/StarWars Yoda]] impression in "Redneck Avengers."
** Phillip Rivers in ''NFL 2017'' appears to be explaining the plot of a ''Series/TheXFiles'' episode.
-->''And then, Mulder said "Hey, listen, Scully, hey, you know, I found the aliens... and you don't care!"''
** In "The Force Awakens", Kylo Ren's creepiness is taken to the extreme, when he tells Rey "[[Literature/TheSilenceOfTheLambs It puts the lotion on its skin]]."
** Later in "The Force Awakens", Kylo does [[Franchise/StarTrek the Vulcan salute]] and then claims outright to be a Vulcan.
** "Inauguration Day" has Hillary randomly saying "[[Franchise/StreetFighter Hadouken]]" to the camera man.
** ''NFL 2018'' has Preston Smith shouting to the camera: "[[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Pika! Pika! Pikapika!]]"
** Also from ''NFL 2018'', Brandon Graham says he can't wait to get home and play ''VideoGame/TheSims''.
** In "It's Not a Moon", Tarkin says that he doesn't like "children of the night", a phrase made famous by the 1931 ''Film/{{Dracula|1931}}''. Tarkin was played by Creator/PeterCushing, who had previously featured as a vampire hunter in Film/HammerHorror's Dracula films.
** In ''NFL 2021'', one of the players is named "[[Music/TheWho Baba]] [[Music/WhosNext O'Riley]]."
* SkewedPriorities:
** From ''The Force Awakens'':
-->'''Han Solo:''' They'll pluck out our eyelids!\
'''Finn:''' ...Wait, could you still fall asleep?\
'''Han:''' ''How are those your first words?''
** From "Hostiles on the Hill":
-->'''Luke:''' Hey guys! I think-- ''[Luke's ship gets shot]'' I think Dak is a zombie!\
'''Wedge:''' Really? What do you mean?\
'''Luke:''' I mean he's a freaking zombie!\
'''Wedge:''' But wait, didn't your ship just get shot?\
'''Luke:''' Yes, but...zombie!
* SomeOfMyBestFriendsAreX: Rick Santorum: "I know a few Asian guys."
* SparedByTheAdaptation:
** Everything Darth Vader says implies that he's just throwing the Emperor into the Death Star's reactor shaft so that he can take a nap.
** For that matter, [[spoiler:Han Solo]] in ''The Force Awakens'', just by playing the video ''backwards''.
* SpokenWordInMusic: Every song, save for a select few, features a spoken word section, but "Trick the Bridesmaid" is almost exclusively this (save for the chorus).
* StageWhisper: Jimmy Whisper in "Medieval Land Fun-Time World" says all his lines in a StageWhisper. It's even in his name!
* StalkerWithACrush: Loki in ''Redneck Avengers'' is apparently one.
-->'''Thor:''' You have been texting Rachel adorable emojis and it's creepy!
* StealthPun: Carl Poppa, a song that makes frequent mention of the fact that Walkers keep stumbling over things in their way, is part of an album called ''Walkers be trippin' ''
* StepfordSnarker: Sarah Huckabee Sanders in "White House Press Briefing", whose treatment of the White House press corp is somewhere between DeadpanSnarker and {{Jerkass}}, and is clearly the result of dealing with a press corp made up entirely of ridiculous {{Cloudcuckoolander}}s every day that has destroyed her sanity.
--> '''"Lankey":''' It's been a whole hour since Kristen sat on my whistle!\
'''Kristen:''' I did not sit on it!\
'''"Lankey":''' Well then where's my whistle!?\
'''Sarah Sanders:''' [[SarcasmMode This is a really important issue.]] Chomp?
* TheStinger: After every video, a short part of the video is played again, except with vastly different and equally nonsensical lyrics.
* StockFemurBone: Implied. Femurs are the only bones Carl mentions in his full length song despite also saying they had tons of bones.
* TheStoic: Tom Brady, [[NotSoStoic unless he finds Fido or figures out that he's white.]]
* TheStoner:
** Miley Cyrus, according to "Black Umbrella".
** Same applies to Newt Gingrich in his soundbyte.
** Both halves of Double Take are blatantly high in "Time To Rock".
** Mitt Romney thinks marijuana is great. Call the whippet badger.
** Bob Schieffer from the "2012 Debates Highlights" also uses antidepressants to enhance his highs and is no stranger to the presence of crack.
** President Obama announced at his 2013 inauguration that he loves opiates.
** Jo-Jo Lannister asks Terry if he's got the dope. Yeah, fo shiz.
** Rick informs Carl that he'd prefer it if he didn't smoke weed. Carl responds "But you know I'm going to, right?"
** Haymitch realises that Katniss toked on one of his "good" cigarettes, which would explain her insanity in that particular scene.
** Bill Clinton admits he's so buzzed at the DNC that he just has to go home and see the kitty.
* StrawmanPolitical: Many of BLR's targets are Republicans. Although at least in the case of the 2012 election, that's probably due to having an incumbent Democrat candidate in the 2012 election, [[RealLifeWritesThePlot leaving BLR with more people on the Republican side to use as material]].
* StylisticSuck: All over the place in "Sing-Song Contest of America", "OBSIDIOTS" and some others.
* SuddenlyVoiced: A few characters that didn't talk in the original movies, like Chewbacca and R2-D2, were given voices in the BLR videos of the Star Wars trilogy.
* SummoningRitual: "Shadow Pico" seems to be about the members of Music/OneDirection gathering to summon Shadow Pico.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Katniss and Peeta wrote their first song on the way to their first live performance. And they apparently ''based'' the song on their method of transportation. [[spoiler:Is it really any wonder the crowd hated them]]?
* SurrealHumour / WordSaladHumour: Pretty much everything, but especially their soundbites.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial:
** From "Dirty Spaceman":
-->I can tell I'm beginning to like Alejandro / He's brave and dapper and NOT DRUNK!
** That, or she gets hit on by so many drunk guys that finding one who isn't drunk is something special for her, or she's taking a stab at some specific alcoholic ex of hers.
** Another one. According to Newt Gingrich:
-->Then the dodo disappeared, and I spent the cash. Sh*t happens.
** Steve Rogers asks Tony Stark if he's seen his beef jerky. Tony immediately responds that he "did not use it".
** Luke Skywalker asks Han Solo if he took his wallet. Han says no, and that it's probably not in the trash by his armchair so he shouldn't look there.
* TWordEuphemism: When the moderator of the 2015 Republican debate addresses Ted Cruz as "Senator Cruz," Cruz implores that he not use the "'S' word."
* TastesLikeFriendship: Adrian Peterson accepts a reporter after he learns she has an orange peanut.
* TakeThat: To the production of "Hot Problems," after the song.
-->Oh my God, you guys could totally go buy this song on iTunes, and then listen to it in a parked limousine... That'd be so meta!
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgmARwtptoo&feature=share&list=ULSgmARwtptoo Obama point-blank asking why Mitt Romney is such an a**hole.]]
** Bella's dad just says what everyone's already thinking in "Twilight III"
---> "I don't like your face... And you have the record for frowning."
*** Followed by Jacob telling Edward "Suntan, that's what you need!"
---> '''Bella:''' He's right.
** 'Cruz Talks Trump' is basically an extended TakeThat directed at [[UsefulNotes/DonaldTrump The Donald]]. Among other things, he calls him a "cartoon of a human" and accuses him of putting meth on his fork once. Though he does admit that Trump's hairballs are wonderful, [[IAmAHumanitarian and he wants to eat them]].
---> '''Ted Cruz:''' That guy needs a turd martini.
** Trump himself admits in "Christmas Is Here": "When I finally speak, I won't tell you anything at all." Later, his robot in the Hall of Presidents sings "I'm not the real Donald Trump, but I can scare you just as much!"
** Yoda asking Luke why he got "so crotchety and mean" in "My Stick" could be a jab aimed at Luke's portrayal in ''Film/TheLastJedi'', where he TookALevelInJerkass and became a cynical old man disillusioned with the Jedi Order.
* ThatMakesMeFeelAngry: In "Dirty Spaceman":
--> And I'm feeling extra angry...
* ThatPoorCat: In ''Twilight III'' Jacob throws something out of anger and accidentally hits his cat.
-->I bonked my kitteh!
* ThatRemindsMeOfASong: Characters sponateously burst into song throughout several videos, most notably in the ''Franchise/StarWars'' videos.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** Invoked in "Gang Fight!": "You're no one and it's unlikely you'll have this ... And I doubt that you'll have this ... Now you go away, na na na!"
** In "Time to Rock," Double Take "don't wanna disco with your a**"
** Mitt Romney gives this to his "son" in one of his debates, saying he had to be like ComicBook/JudgeDredd to fix him up.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Justin Bieber, at least at the beginning of "Asian Baby."
--> "Vermont, is heaven, for Bieber."
* ThisIsForEmphasisBitch: From "Everybody Poops":
--> I be regular, bitches.
* ThoseWackyNazis: Rebecca Black is apparently friends with some "pleasant Nazis".
* ToiletHumour: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQTW7Pd1vqc Everybody Poops]].
** And a bit of it in Russian Unicorn. "The guy behind you just soiled his underwear...uh...umm...maybe YOU did it!"
** Newt Gingrich went poo-poo in the egg salad.
** In "Hunger Games":
-->'''Gale:''' ''[sniffs]'' What did you ''do''? It ''reeks''. It's like a hot foot forest.\
'''Katniss:''' [[{{Squick}} Oh, well, I got the squirts... y'know, when you make fudge puddles...]]\
'''Gale:''' My bad. [[TooMuchInformation Didn't need the visual]].\
'''Katniss:''' It's horrific.\
'''Gale:''' [[BrainBleach Okay, can we forget it?]]
** Rick Santorum thinks diarrhea is okay and once let it shoot out for half a block.
** The word "poo" shows up at least once in almost every video. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] in that it's a ''very'' simple word that's easy to lip read, not to mention its InherentlyFunnyWord status.
** [[Series/GameOfThrones "MEDIEVAL LAND FUN-TIME WORLD"]] turns this into an OverlyLongGag. Thanks, [[{{Gasshole}} Grand Maester Pycelle.]]
*** Also, someone throws poo at Jo-Jo. And he may have a stink booty.
** The lyrics of "Yeti" describe the titular creature as an "exotic covered-in-poo man".
** Ted Cruz reminds us that if there's one thing America doesn't need more of, it's goose diarrhea.
* TitleDrop: Done rather stealthily in the "Stranger Things" opening credits song:
--> ''Don't take candy from a '''stranger\
Things''' like that could lead to danger''
* TooKinkyToTorture:
** [[Music/TheBeeGees Barry Gibb.]] [[spoiler:"Spank my wood...till I bleed... Or so that I scream...[[SafeWord 'Souffle!']]"]]
** In "The Empire Stikes Back", Han enjoys being tortured for information a little ''too'' much.
* TooMuchInformation: Fergie in "Nobody Wants My Bread" openly admits that it's TMI when she tells everyone that she pooped glass last night.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Mike really likes tuna, and doesn't approve of Eleven's refusal to eat it.
--> '''Mike:''' What's wrong with tuna? ''What's wrong with tuna?!''
* TropeyComeHome: Invoked.
-->'''Tom Brady:''' Hey, I found [[CanineCompanion Fido]]! I found Fido! I found Fido, you guys!
%%* TrueArtIsIncomprehensible:
%%** The Governor from ''Series/TheWalkingDead'' lip-read once invoked that he saw a movie that was all about gardens. Seeing as how the movie had the pretentious-sounding title "Bloody Shrimp", we can only assume it was an art film like ''WebVideo/MarbleHornets'' or ''Film/TheBrownBunny''.
%%** Sheriff Hopper in ''Series/StrangerThings'' enjoys what he calls "modern jazz", which is just random, cacophonic beeps with no beat, pattern, or lyrics, with a few drums thrown in at random points. The song we hear is called "There Was A Weiner On The Buffet".
* {{Understatement}}: The full length version of "Carl Poppa" mentions that zombies can "ruin your day", as it shows zombies eating someone.
* TheUnintelligible:
** In "Twilight III", Jasper is this.
** In "More The Walking Dead", Lizzis and Mika Samuels, two little girls below 10 at best, say complete gibberish, and it's implied they're still learning to speak.
** Derf in "High School Musical" mostly says gibberish, and shouts "Mousy" instead of saying "Chorky".
* UnusualEuphemism:
** In "Hot Jumping Beans", it's pretty clear that the "hot jumping beans" are a metaphor for... something very intimate.
** From "Dirty Spaceman", we get "Can you leave your wrinkled willie glue inside my ocean, please?"
** And of course: "Oh, the night is young / Now baby we could shoot a Russian unicorn"
** A drunk Cinna asks Katniss to "Do something 'fruity'"
** Music/LadyGaga has "morning dew" that you simply can't get.
** Obama wants to "creep" and "make friction" in a large office after lunch.
** "High School" can be full of this if you keep your mind in the gutter.
---> "Yeah, well you watched Jose do the Chinese finger dance on [[ICallHimMisterHappy Sloan Dyson's grimy pretzel.]]"
** According to Joe Biden, Paul Ryan wants you to "frost his lemonhead."
** Beyonce is very fond of using these in "LA FWAY".
--->But your little sweet pig\
I stroked your swine\
[[ICallHimMisterHappy His name was Rusty]]\
Yeahhhhh\
Dllll — Rusty
** Joe Biden says that popping candy from loose women can get tiring, like jumping in Cindy's Fun Barrel.
** Tonight, Ron Paul is "leaving a watermelon-pineapple treasure inside of Liam Neeson".
** "Well I might just do an evil drive-by on Anthony!"
** Hillary Clinton says she's "tied" to Bill.
** Kimbra mentions to Gotye that "a banana wanted in that crack."
** In "Beard With Glue", James Blunt delivers the suggestively-juxtaposed "Where's them boobies?/I wanna ice this cake".
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Summed up perfectly in "Not the Future" (rather appropriate being based on ''Franchise/StarWars''):
-->''Alien DNA, walking 'round everyday, and no-one notices''
* VillainousCrush: Grand Moff Tarkin tries to hit on Princess Leia in "It's Not A Moon". She doesn't take it well.
* TheVillainSucksSong: "Beard With Glue."
* VocalDissonance:
** It says a lot that this is averted except (arguably) in two cases -- [[Music/RascalFlatts Gary LeVox]] (voiced similar to Creator/LarryTheCableGuy even though his real voice is more like the one used for Music/JustinBieber here) and Michele Bachmann (whom you'd probably ''expect'' to sound like a guy anyways).
** Half the characters in "Medieval Land Fun-Time World" have ''very'' different voices, while the other half are more faithful. Terry speaks in street parlance, Susie has a ''very'' husky voice, whereas Petey and Bobby have ridiculously high-pitched voices.
** The BLR take on [[Music/{{BTS}} Suga]] sounds more high-pitched compared to what Suga actualy sounds like.
* VoiceOfTheLegion:
** The Devil, [[spoiler:aka Prim]] from ''Hunger Games''
** Trent Cole from "More NFL": [[VaguenessIsComing "The ghost is near."]]
** The Demon girl from "More Walking (and Talking) Dead: Part 2" [[spoiler:Mind you, this is [[CreepyChild Lizzie]] we're talking about.]]
* VomitDiscretionShot: Peter Parker throws up over the side of a building right in front of Gwen Stacy, after telling her that touching her wooden leg makes him sick.
* VomitIndiscretionShot: Music/NickiMinaj throws up perfect shellfish into her towel.
* WardrobeMalfunction: The real reason they don't show Snoke too clearly in "The Force Awakens".
-->'''Kylo Ren:''' Y'know, I can see your nads.\
'''Snoke:''' [[DullSurprise Uh oh...]]
* WeSellEverything:
** Subverted. When Katniss and Peeta respectively request Walrus meat and "a car made of dead folks" when asked if Haymitch can get them anything, he says he doubt those things can be bought. [[DoubleSubverted But he'll try.]]
** Also subverted in "Twilight III." Jacob is looking for an assassin pig, but Edward tells him, "Dude, they're not something you can, like, purchase at the mall."
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: InUniverse; Bernie Sanders learned the hard way that "Wee-wee World" is not a kid-friendly program.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: What happened to the people at the garden party that Luke was going to attend in "My Stick"? It is possible that they all died after Yoda set the island on fire.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman:
** Played straight by will.i.am in "Everybody Poops", who has no problem destroying androids for no reason.
** Averted in "CHRISTMAS IS HERE!", where Donald Trump shows genuine concern when his own robot counterpart is depressed by the realization of his own inability to love.
** Also averted in "High School Musical"; finding out that [[spoiler:Lumpkinella]] is a robot doesn't make [[spoiler:Chorky]] love her any less.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Kylo Ren made a bird finger puppet for Han Solo, but never gave it to him because Han "never trusted birds."
* AWildRapperAppears: Notably ''inverted'' in "Magic Man".
** Snoop Dogg's appearance in "Black Umbrella" was intended to parody this.
* WordSaladLyrics: A typical example from the "Gang Fight" rap: "I'm grabbing a routine vaccination with chicken and sweet carp on the side."
** In fact, the BLR "universe" is almost entirely word salad, though later videos were more coherent.
* YiddishAsASecondLanguage: From "Black Umbrella": "Meshuggenah Vinnie had a hoop-de."
* YouAreFat: In "Yeti", directed towards the Yeti.
--> "You're a pig. / You pig. / Stop eating, yeah. / Your body's getting too big. / You pig. / You're a Bigfoot, yeah, but no more chicken and cow."
* YouGetMeCoffee: "More The Walking (And Talking) Dead" ends with the Governor ordering a Walker to make him a smoothie. The walker is ''thrilled'' to hear this.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Katniss' reaction to Peeta not knowing where babies come from.
* YourMom: Mitt Romney is really into this, saying that "Yo' Momma's pudgy" and that she can eat him.
** It's even better when Mitt Romney [[HypocriticalHumor doesn't want to his son to be saying anything bad about his momma]], even if he is a party rapper.
----
[[TheStinger Is this Idaho? Because]] [[AnythingButThat I will not limbo in Idaho.]]
