Not particularly good at sports, not very popular, and not very good at school, [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Naoki's]] middle school years are filled with video games and erotic books. Little does he know that he is destined to create magic and take over the world in the future. Then he gets DrunkWithPower, decides to [[{{Polyamory}} marry 500 women]], and that gets him thrown out of power and get sentenced to death. With the power of magic, there still is hope, though, and one of his daughters, [[CharacterTitle Iroha]], goes back to the past in hope of saving her father from this cruel fate.

Yet another screwball action-comedy manga from Creator/InoueKazurou. The manga ran in ''Magazine/ShonenSunday Super'' from 2009 to 2012.

!!Tropes in ''Mahou no Iroha''

* AbusiveParents: Future Naoki is a {{jerkass}} on the highest level to his children when he does pay attention to them. [[spoiler:Subverted that most of it is an ''extreme'' facade.]]
* ActionGirl: All of Naoki's daughters seen thus far.
* AlmostKiss: Naoki and a couple of his [[{{squick}} daughters]].
* AmusingInjuries: Naoki gets hurt quite a bit, and the {{delinquents}} in the first chapter seem no worse for wear after suffering the wrath of Iroha.
* AstralProjection: Future Naoki can send himself into the past while he is in prison. He's visible, and of the MadeOfAir verity. He can still use magic, though, and be tangible when he wants to be.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: Completely averted with [[NakedOnArrival Reika]], which is a little shocking considering that there has never been even a {{panty shot}} or any other real {{fanservice}}y tropes before that.
* BadFuture: Played with in an interesting fashion where the EvilOverlord has already been defeated and the future that the time travelers are trying to prevent is his eminent execution. [[spoiler:Then it's revealed that ''after'' Iroha returned to the future, she came back 6 years later, because Naoki is fated to miss finding magic, but find another power instead, ESP, from bumping his head in his new horrible life, and repeat the same mistakes that the previous Future!Naoki once did.]]
%%* BedmateReveal: Oh Iroha...
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Saki normally dresses as a boy, [[RecursiveCrossdressing because]] [[GenderBenderAngst he was originally male and still wishes he was]].
%%* BloodFromTheMouth: That's gotta hurt, Reika.
%%* CallingYourAttacks: Not infrequently.
%%* CurbStompBattle: Iroha fighting the {{delinquents}}
%%** Anyone facing Future Naoki apparently, which makes one wonder how they caught him.
* DaddysLittleVillain: Iroha could be this considering her utter devotion and willingness to do anything for Naoki.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Subverted. Inoue Kazurou nearly turns this manga into a hell of a Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Madoka style massacre. [[spoiler:In the penultimate chapters, Future Naoki summons an [[EldritchAbomination grotesque monsters]], Saki and Reika get [[EatenAlive eaten alive]] and the present Naoki commits suicide in order to defeat his future self. However, it turns out that all the events that are happening are all illusions.]]
* DeepImmersionGaming: The first few pages of the series. [[spoiler:His game avatar is his evil future self.]]
* {{Delinquents}}: They show up quite a bit in the first chapter to beat up Naoki and then get defeated by Iroha.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Naoki was bad at sports growing up, so he blew up sports stadiums when he got power later on in life.
%%* DrunkWithPower: Naoki in the future.
* EvilPlan: A weird version. The typical TakeOverTheWorld plot has been achieved and then reversed before the story even starts. The main plot is the villain's daughter trying to save him from execution by going to the past before any of that happens.
* EvilOverlord: Future Naoki is of the SorcerousOverlord type.
* FakeMemories: Iroha uses magic to make Naoki's parents think she is their niece so that she can live with them and Naoki.
* FirstLawOfGenderBending: Future Naoki's spells are nearly impossible to break except by him, including the one that turned Saki into a girl. By the time Saki shows up in the story, he's been female for more than half his life. [[spoiler:Inexplicably, even after Future Naoki's HeelFaceTurn and in another timeline where Naoki obtains ESP, Saki is still female.]]
* FlyingBroomstick: Reika's weapon and mode of transportation.
* FutureMeScaresMe: Future Naoki is not a good man at all. [[spoiler:[[IDidWhatIHadToDo He has reasons for some of his actions, though.]]]]
* GenderBender: Ichinose Saki was male until the age of six, but soon as his father found out one of his many children was a boy, he immediately decided to turn him into a girl without explanation.
* GenderBenderAngst: Despite usually passing as a guy, Saki hated getting turned female. He's perfectly willing to kill his father in the past to undo it, not really caring if the GrandfatherParadox will result in him being erased from history as well. Once the present-day Naoki saves Saki's life, Saki calms down considerably, but would still rather he changed back and considers himself a boy.
* TheGlomp: Iroha's introduction, and many other times. Reika gets in on the action too.
* {{Golem}}: Iroha makes one as part of a zany scheme.
* HaremSeeker: Future Naoki, with great success until his success starts a revolution. [[spoiler:Subverted when it's revealed that those girls are "tributes" from various countries and companies that fear him.]]
* HealingHands: Iroha knows healing magic as well.
* HereWeGoAgain: [[spoiler: The story ends with Iroha coming back to the past to prevent Naoki creating ''another'' bad future.]]
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Iroha doesn't seem to not understand that she and Naoki are the same age right now, and that he may find it strange to bathe with her.
* {{Jerkass}}: Future Naoki
** Might be an act needed for a ZeroApprovalGambit, but only time will tell for certain.
*** [[spoiler:[[IKnewIt It is]]. Not for ZeroApprovalGambit, but to instigate RescueRomance.]]
* LargeHam: Future Naoki
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Another of Iroha's talents. Useful for when she messes things up.
** After the first few times, Naoki stops letting Iroha do this because it's wrong to mess with people's minds.
* LoserProtagonist: Naoki does not have much going for him at the start of the series.
* LoveInterest: Nanako is Naoki's. It is uncertain if she returns his affections as of this point in time. Although it does seem promising.
* LovePotion: Most likely a spell, but Nanako seems convinced that she could make Nanako fall in love with Naoki with a spell. Naoki immediately and angrily informs her that using magic to make her fall in love with him is wrong.
** In chapter two, she makes him irresistible to both men and women.
** [[spoiler:Later on, Ichinose Saki proves that one can do this by manipulating Nanako.]]
* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter: Some of Naoki's kids.
* MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight: Reika went back just to try and marry Naoki so she could be in control.
* MagicFromTechnology / {{Magitek}}: We know that Naoki invented magic in the future, but how that happened or why magic works is still a mystery to us. It should be one of these two tropes though.
** [[spoiler:It's more like {{Magitek}}.]]
* MagicalGirlWarrior: All of Naoki's daughters we have seen thus far.
* MagicalIncantation: Many times.
* MagicWand: Iroha has one.
* MeanwhileInTheFuture: Iroha gets updates on Naoki's upcoming execution date. The further away it is, the better she is doing.
* NakedOnArrival: Reika,except for her head band.
** Also the golem Iroha creates. It's a girl, as well.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Reika.
* OffingTheOffspring: Future Naoki threatens this, but aside from a few nonlethal attacks makes no real attempt to do so. [[spoiler: Until chapter 15. In the end, [[AvertedTrope he didn't mean it all along.]]]]
* OrderedToCheat: Iroha uses her magic to make Naoki be good at sports. Naoki is first over joyed at his sudden success and popularity until he sees the effect it has on the people who actually worked for the ability. Then he makes Iroha [[ThrowingTheFight remove the magic]] and still tries his best and loses, but he [[AnAesop learns]] the value of trying your best, and likes sports a bit better.
* [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Ordinary Middle School Student]]: Naoki
* {{Otaku}}: Naoki is a [[RealTimeStrategy RTS]] otaku at the story's start.
* PapaWolf: Naoki is in the larvel stages of this trope. He certainly tries, but all of his kids are stronger than him. It does serve to endear him to them, though.
* ParentalAbandonment: Future Naoki's modus operandi. [[spoiler:[[DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou It got more complicated than that.]]]]
* ParentalIncest:
** Naoki is attracted to his daughters from the future, much to his chagrin, but knowing they are his daughters has kept him from making a mistake.
** Reika wants to marry Naoki so that she can have all the power she wants in the future.
* {{Patricide}}: Ichinose Saki went to the past to kill his father.
* PlayingWithFire: Iroha's summon Ifrit.
* PolyAmory: Future Naoki, by having 500 hundred wives and an undisclosed number of children. Bizarrely played for drama when this is the reason the world revolts against him. [[spoiler:The real truth is a bit more complicated.]]
* ResistanceIsFutile: Iroha, word for word.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: According to Iroha, Naoki was this when he first took over the world. [[spoiler:In reality, barring his jerkish phase when he lashed out against the world, he is one all along.]]
%%* RippleEffectProofMemory: Anyone currently in the past.
%%* RocketRide: Iroha all the time.
* RunningGag: Naoki getting hit in the solar plexus.
** Naoki getting hit in the face by Iroha's tomahawk missile
* {{Sarashi}}: Ichinose Saki wears one.
* SayItWithHearts: Happens on occasion, and usually they are little text hearts "<3".
* SenseiChan: Naoki's teacher who also doubles as a CuteClumsyGirl!
* SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong: The entire plot.
* ShockAndAwe: Iroha's Electro Shocker.
* StalkerWithACrush: Wanabuchi Harou to Ichinose Saki, whom is not amused by this turn of events.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Future Naoki accomplished this feat. [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Actually not,]] he just makes the world fear him.]]
* ThirdLawOfGenderBending: Zig-zagged; Saki was turned female but wants to be male again, so he's introduced [[HiddenBuxom binding his breasts]], dressing in a masculine fashion, and passing as a guy. After his HeelFaceTurn, Saki enrolls at Naoki's high school as a girl to act as his bodyguard. When Reika points out how feminine he looks, Saki unconvincingly insists it's [[RecursiveCrossdressing just a disguise]]. Outside of school, Saki still wears unisex clothing, but no longer binds his breasts.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Iroha.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Naoki after Future!Naoki almost killed his children and destroyed Emily. [[spoiler:[[GrandfatherParadox Taken to its]] [[DrivenToSuicide logical conclusion.]]]]
* ThoseTwoGuys: Naoki's friends Shigemoto and someone else....
* TimeTravel: Brought to you by magic.
* TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture: Naoki will be executed twenty years in the future.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:The future children have been slowly and unknowingly supplying power to Future Naoki through their bracelets, giving him the strength to escape prison.]]
* WantedASonInstead: Future Naoki basically wants to get rid of every other male that he can, and so used magic so all his children would be female. When he finds out Saki was a boy anyway, Naoki turns ''him'' into a girl as well. [[spoiler:It turned out to be because Naoki thought his enemies would be more likely to target sons than daughters.]]
* WhatYearIsThis: Reika asks this to the man she is stepping on when she first arrives.
* WouldNotHitAGirl: At least one with such a cute face.
