->'''Takihaze''': Waka, I believe you mean '' '''Romeo''' and Juliet.''

A BoysLoveGenre manga by Yamamoto Kotetsuko.

Ordinary policeman [[NiceGuy Ueda Tomoharu]] caught an [[PantyThief underwear thief]] red-handed and encountered one of the people the thief stole from. The next day, he was confessed to by over-the-top {{Yakuza}} Gotouda Aki, who turned out to be the person he met the day before. They started dating after some further hijinks, and Ueda's quiet and normal life [[HilarityEnsues was gone forever]].

----
!!This series provides examples of:

* AffectionateNickname: Aki calls his butler-nanny-chauffeur Takihaze "Tako".
* BabysittingEpisode: One chapter has Tomoharu and Aki temporarily put in charge of the infant son of a Gotouda group member.
* BadassInDistress: Aki gets kidnapped on a few occasions, and he usually manages to free himself without any help.
* BerserkButton: Aki has two; one, don't interrupt him and Tomoharu kissing or being intimate, and two, don't call him cute.
** Kei's mere existence is one to Tomoharu.
* BetaCouple: Yamase and Kisaragi have an adorable, rather low key romance, especially compared with [[AlphaCouple Aki and Tomoharu]]'s near-constant misadventures. However, unlike most Beta couples, said romance takes a little while to get properly started due mainly to [[ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe Yamase's obliviousness as to why Kisaragi likes him so much]] (unlike Ueda who, though bewildered, took Aki's confession in stride).
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Ueda. His friendly disposition does not in any way mean that he will compromise on what he thinks is right. He is also a more than capable fighter so it is not a good idea to piss him off.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Ueda's kicks in when he discovers Natsuki is dating someone. Aki develops this as well, throwing himself in front of ''car'' in order to protect him.
* BridalCarry: Ueda carries Aki this way in the second part of chapter 21 while he's drunk. He carries Aki again this way in the following chapter.
* BrutalHonesty: Aki simply doesn't have any sort of brain-to-mouth filter.
* BusmansHoliday: Even when off duty, Ueda just [[ChronicHeroSyndrome can't ignore a person in trouble]]. Luckily for him, Aki finds it endearing.
* ByTheBookCop: Officer Takeuchi is serious, rigid and quite militant in upholding the law, which contrasts his superior Ueda's somewhat more relaxed approach. He's also quite judgemental and makes no secret of his distaste for Aki, which causes the two to butt heads. That said, Takeuchi's heart is fundamentally in the right place, and he is all too willing to learn from his mistakes, namely when an earlier scuffle with two schoolboys indirectly leads to Aki getting snatched off the street right in front of him.
* ChromosomeCasting: Unsurprisingly for the genre, there are hardly any important/recurring female characters featured in the story.
* ClosetKey: Kei was this for Aki.
* CoolOldGuy: Tomoharu's grandfather Harutaro, who is very much [[ItRunsInTheFamily cut from the same cloth]] as his grandson.
* CoolShades: Aki has them as part of his yakuza getup, as shown above.
* CovertPervert: Ueda embodies this trope; who would suspect such a seemingly wholesome FairCop has such an obsession with his boyfriend's nipples?
** [[spoiler: Hidaka seems to be turning into this after he and Koyama have sex for the first time; Aki is actually kind of disturbed at how much Hidaka reminds him of Tomoharu.]]
* CrazyJealousGuy: Both Aki and Ueda. Aki is vocal in his clinginess but it's Ueda [[BewareTheNiceOnes whose jealousy people should watch out for]]. He may be quiet and reserved but he's absolutely terrifying when he's in a bad mood.
* CrushBlush: Aki with Tomoharu before they started dating. He's tempered down some, but occasionally Tomoharu does or says something that triggers this.
* CutenessOverload: Tomoharu has this reaction in Chapter 16 to [[http://www.mangago.com/read-manga/honto_yajuu/mf/mi_chapter-16/pg-36/ Aki holding a puppy]] (last panel).
* CutenessProximity: Tomoharu finds Aki incredibly adorable, to the point where it doesn't take much for Aki to turn him on; one time, [[TheDitz Aki]] successfully made a slice of toast and decided to let Tomoharu have it. Tomoharu's response was to hug his boyfriend while wondering if there was enough time to have sex before work.
** Koyama and Hidaka both find each other incredibly cute, so much so that neither is willing to submit to being on bottom and both want to top, hilariously shown [[http://www.mangago.com/read-manga/honto_yajuu/mf/v05/c015.2/pg-31/ here]].
* TheDitz: Aki; he's never bought anything from a drug store prior to chapter 13, didn't know what temperature qualified as a fever, applied far too many cooling pads to Tomoharu when he was sick, failed to make a simple dish, and was in high school for all of three days before he dropped out.
* DraggedIntoDrag: Aki, by his ''mother'' of all people.
* DudeMagnet: Aki is considered so attractive in-universe that he even gets Ayato (who initially only has eyes for Tomoharu) all hot and bothered.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Aki, much to Ueda's annoyance.
** Aki even makes Ueda's ''parents that are still married'' get flustered.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Senpai is only ever referred to as Senpai, until Kisaragi's introduction reveals his last name to be Yamase.
* FairCop: Ueda.
* FamilyThemeNaming: Tomoharu and Natsuki's names have the kanji for spring and summer, repectively.
* FirstLove: Both Aki and Tomoharu have been in relationships prior to getting together, Aki sleeping around with whoever regardless of gender and Tomoharu dating people simply because he liked people, and all of his relationships ended because his girlfriends noticed he didn't love them unconditionally. Neither experienced true love until they met, fell for each other and started dating.
* FirstNameBasis: Ueda has always called Aki "Aki". Aki on his part referred to him as "Ueda", until about half way through the manga when he finally calls him "Tomoharu" and sticks to it.
* [[GenkiGirl Genki Guy]]: Aki is just incredibly energetic. How in the hell does the composed Ueda keep up with him?
* HairContrastDuo: Light haired Tomoharu is pleasant, level-headed and responsible; Dark haired Aki is crass, abrasive and a bit clueless.
* HartmanHips: Aki is a male example, according to Shige in chapter 6.2, whenever Aki would come by the Kirishima Group's headquarters to visit. Aki has been noted to have flared hips and a small butt by others.
* HappilyMarried: Both sets of parents, but each in their own way.
** Ueda Tamotsu and his wife Yukie are, in Aki's words, "a run-of-the-mill, storybook happy couple". Being used to [[WeirdnessMagnet Tomoharu]], Aki is quite taken aback by how disarmingly ''normal'' the Uedas are, to the point where he doesn't quite know how to act around them.
** Gotouda Akira and his wife Miyabi are the heads of two different {{Yakuza}} organizations. As such they conduct their business separately, and are even individually introduced (Akira in volume 1, then Miyabi in volume 3). Nevertheless, it's clear from their interactions that they love each other very much.
* [[SheCleansUpNicely He Cleans Up Nicely]]: Aki, whenever he lets his hair down and wears less tacky clothes, can go from getting awkward stares to people getting flustered around him and modelling agencies trying to scout him.
* HoneyTrap: Nozomi, one of Kiyoshi's customers from the host club, assisted Tadashi in his attempt to scam Kiyoshi, who on his part genuinely and foolishly believed that Nozomi was in love with him.
* HopelessSuitor: Ayato to Tomoharu, who flat-out tells him that [[SingleTargetSexuality Aki is the only one for him]].
** Ryou to Aki.
* HotBlooded: Aki feels his every emotion very strongly indeed, and is very quick to throw a punch.
* ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe: SO MUCH. [[TheGenericGuy Yamase]] simply cannot comprehend why Kisaragi is so interested in him, to the point where he doesn't see the confession coming at all. [[TheGadfly Aki doesn't get it either.]]
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Ueda tells Aki that he doesn't like men, but Aki is special.
* ImpossiblyTackyClothes: Part of Aki's Yakuza getup. Both Ueda (though he was nicer about it) and his younger brother Natsuki are embarrassed to be seen with him because of it.
* InsecureLoveInterest: Somewhat. Yamase at first can't help but compare himself to handsome and sophisticated Kisaragi, who isn't yet his love interest at that point but is very (and obviously) attracted to Yamase.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Aki (24-5) and Natsuki (14) are texting buddies later on.
* IronicName: One of Aki's old flames is a host named Kiyoshi, which means "pure". Similarly the thug that's been targeting Kiyoshi is named Tadashi ("proper"); Aki even lampshades this.
* KimonoIsTraditional: Aki's Yakuza boss parents pretty much wear nothing but traditional clothing, his mother in particular has quite a fondness for it.
* LoveAtFirstSight: This happens... a lot.
** Aki falls head over heels for Tomoharu from the moment they meet. Tomoharu needs a day or two, but he quickly catches up.
** Koyama turns out to have been tailing Hidaka since their first day of school because he fell for him the second he clapped eyes on him and had no idea how to deal with it. Hidaka on his part thought Koyama was just trying to intimidate him; he revises his opinion when he see Koyama [[HeCleansUpNicely with his hair down]].
** Kisaragi's first encounter with Yamase parodies that of Aki and Tomoharu. The very next day he drops by the station to invite Yamase out for dinner, and he's even got ''[[FlowersOfRomance flowers!]]''
** Ayato claims he has this towards Tomoharu, though he mainly just really, ''really'' wants to sleep with him.
* LuminescentBlush: Aki is highly prone to this.
* ManChild: Aki. Impulsive, stubborn, and at times insensitive.
* MementoMacguffin: Aki has two; the spare key to Tomoharu's apartment and his ring, both given to him by Tomoharu.
* MentorInQueerness: Aki and Tomoharu act as this towards Hidaka and Koyama.
* NeighbourhoodFriendlyGangsters: Aki's Yakuza-ness is confined to his bad fashion sense (which even other yakuza find weird) and rude speech manners. He is actually a decent guy. Other gang members are rowdy but do not do anything reprehensible, at least onscreen. After some initial friction, Ueda manages to earn their respect.
* NervesOfSteel: Ueda almost never loses his cool. He once stared down a katana pointed right at his face, and somehow remained impeccably polite when kidnapped by a yakuza boss.
* NeverGetsDrunk: Ueda; he's finally shown drunk in the second half of chapter 21, he shows no signs of being intoxicated, he's just a lot more brazen.
* NiceGuy: Ueda. He can get along with everyone (sans criminals he catches red-handed, of course) and is a textbook example of ChronicHeroSyndrome. It's his main appeal.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Ayato can't keep his hands to himself, and it's usually played for laughs, until he drunkenly gropes [[ByTheBookCop Takeuchi]].
* OneHeadTaller: Ueda is a full head taller than Aki, this gives off the impression that Aki is short, Aki is actually 175cm tall, making him "tall" by Japanese standards, it's just when he stands next to Ueda he seems really short.
** Kisaragi is a head taller than Yamase.
** Averted with Hidaka and Koyama, who are roughly the same height.
* OpenMindedParent: Aki's parents do not bat an eyelash when their son falls for another guy. Being {{yakuza}}, they're more miffed that the person in question is a policeman of all things, but take a liking to Ueda nonetheless.
** In one of the side stories, an elder son tells his parents he wants to move out because of his job, but actually he's starting to lose control over his feelings for his younger stepbrother. His parents promptly call him out and say it's okay.
* PrettyBoy: Aki, to everyone's surprise, his slicked-back hair makes people look at him weirdly, but when they see him with his hair down... ''wow''. [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbsw79Bazo1r0zo9lo1_500.png Just look]].
%%** Koyama has a similar effect.
* RescueRomance: Essentially what kickstarts Tomoharu and Aki's relationship; Tomoharu helped Aki in the first chapter by aprehending a man who had stolen Aki's underwear, prompting Aki to fall for him. Tomoharu initially has trouble with taking Aki's feelings seriously because he thinks Aki only thinks he's into Tomoharu because of the whole underwear thief thing. Later in the first chapter, the two get abducted and Aki gets them out by incapacitating their captors. Tomoharu falls for Aki right then and there, and though he speculates that he could just be under the Prince Charming effect, he decides that it's genuine and the two start dating.
** This is directly referenced and parodied by Yamase and Kisaragi's MeetCute: Yamase is walking home one evening when a bag snatcher runs right into him and their heads get bashed together. The owner of the bag is of course Kisaragi, who's so [[LoveAtFirstSight love struck]] that he recalls Yamase's accidental act of heroism as a hell of lot more dashing and dignified than it actually was.
* RomanticRunnerUp: Ryou, somewhat. He has deep, long-running feelings for Aki, and though Aki turned him down once and for all, he still gave Ryou a pretty long kiss; he also tells Tomoharu before leaving that if he ever makes Aki cry, Ryou will take Aki away from him.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Natsuki]] becomes this to Ueda and Aki after witnessing them kiss.
* {{Seme}}: Ueda, Kisaragi, and Koyama and Hidaka both want to be seme, which one who will be is still a mystery.
** [[spoiler: The second half of Chapter 26 features Hidaka and Koyama finally doing it, where Hidaka tops and by the time they meet up with Tomoharu and Aki again, they've decided to keep their positions.]]
* SettleForSibling: Invoked when Ayato, having finally come to terms with the fact that Ueda will never choose him, meets [[StrongFamilyResemblance Natsuki]]. Aki just about goes [[BigBrotherInstinct ballistic]].
* ShipperOnDeck: Aki is unexpectedly a bit of a busybody: He quickly works out that Koyama has an awkward crush on Hidaka and decides to help him along with it (mainly because he wants Hidaka out of the way, but still); after that, any time he bumps into them he eagerly asks them how things are going. He also seems to support Ayato getting together with Takeuchi. Tomoharu on his part is quietly supportive of Yamase and Kisaragi.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Tomoharu and Aki.
** Hidaka and Koyama are constantly fawning over one another's cuteness.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Tomoharu and Aki are ''gone'' for one another, respective suitors be damned.
* StalkerWithACrush: Koyama to Hidaka in their introductory chapter.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Aki clearly takes after his mother in both looks and temperament. Natsuki looks like a younger Ueda.
* TooDumbToLive: [[ThinksLikeARomanceNovel Kiyoshi]] falls head first into what Aki immediately twigs as being the oldest extortion trick in the book: boy meets girl, boy dates girl, girl turns out to have scary boyfriend, and scary boyfriend demands compensation from boy. Aki's warnings fall on deaf ears, as Kiyoshi sincerely believes that he and Nozomi are in love and that all she wants is to get away from Tadashi, who will only leave Kiyoshi alone if he pays him 500,000 yen. Kiyoshi eventually gets the truth from Nozomi herself, when she stupidly demands her reward (an expensive handbag she was coveting) for participating in the scam... [[FailedASpotCheck right in front of the Yakuza head come to rescue Kiyoshi with Aki in tow]]. Can anyone say DiggingYourselfDeeper?
* {{Tsundere}}: Aki is a Type B, he's openly affectionate towards Ueda, but he still does get embarrassed about the strangest things; additionally he really only shows his ''deredere'' side to Tomoharu while everyone else gets the ''tsuntsun,'' though Tomoharu gets hit with the ''tsuntsun'' side whenever he calls Aki cute.
* {{Uke}}: Aki, Yamase, and neither Koyama or Hidaka want to be uke and instead both want to be {{Seme}}, so which one will fill this role hasn't been established yet.
** [[spoiler: The second half of Chapter 26 features Hidaka and Koyama finally doing it, with positions decided through Rock-Paper-Scissors, Koyama bottoms for their first time and by the time they meet up with Tomoharu and Aki again, they've decided to keep their positions.]]
* UnfazedEveryman: Ueda lives and breathes this trope. It's no wonder he and Aki work so well together.
* [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend Violently Protective Boyfriend]]: Aki once pounced on a man and pounded his face in because Tomoharu got stabbed in the hand protecting him. Tomoharu is not as apparent or as violent as Aki, but if anyone tries anything on Aki in Tomoharu's presence, it won't be pretty.
** Played for laughs where Kisaragi is concerned. He flares up if any other men (namely, Aki and Ueda) get a little too close to Yamase.
