->"His cute little blush. Her bright face. The height difference."
-->-- A comment on this fan-art of Webcomic/Chiasmata on Website/Tumblr

Men are usually bigger than women, right? Well, most of the time, but there are cases in which a woman will be taller than her love interest, either because she's unusually tall or because he's unusually short. Sometimes it's both; sometimes the girl is a good deal wider than the guy as well. Generally the first example goes under StatuesqueStunner, while the second goes in BigBeautifulWoman, but either one could also be an AmazonianBeauty.

When this trope happens, the guy might feel self-conscious about dating a woman larger than him, or the girl might feel similarly insecure about dating a man much shorter/smaller than her (and let's not talk about if she wears heels...). But in other cases, the guy will find a woman attractive not despite how tall she is, but partly because of it. Of course, this particular height-contrast lends itself to what the boyfriend might call Marshmallow Heaven.

Naturally, the s of HugeGuyTinyGirl and OneHeadTaller. Often exarcebated if the woman believes in HighHeelPower. Can be related to UglyGuyHotWife if the man has cartoonish features while the woman is more realistically proportioned, or occasionally with HotGuyUglyWife if the man looks handsome (or at least normal) while the woman is a mannish or even monstrous hulk. It may overlap with AmazonianBeauty, BigBeautifulWoman, ChubbyMamaSkinnyPapa, StatuesqueStunner, or TinySchoolboy. MasculineGirlFeminineBoy is a SisterTrope, and the two are often found together. Particularly exaggerated versions of this may involve a GiantWoman or an IncredibleShrinkingMan.

!!Examples:

* A series of British Public Service Announcements during the 1960s featured a cartoon couple called Joe and Petunia, who would get into dangerous situations to show the viewer what not to do. Joe was drawn as a tiny little man while Petunia was obese and almost twice as tall.
* A non-romantic example is seen between one-off character Ms. Pink compared to Advertising/SnapCrackleAndPop in a set of Canadian commercials. She towers over the three of them by about double their height. Despite this huge size gap, all four of them are still only Lilliputians inches tall.

!!!By Author:
* This, combined with BuxomBeautyStandard, is Creator/CoolKyouShinsha's fetish, and he includes it in just about all of his works (both hentai and mainstream).
** There's a 30 cm (just under 1 foot) difference between Haru and Tsurezure in Manga/Ojojojo. This is only ever brought up once when Tsurezure mentions his HeightAngst.
** Manga/KomorisanCantDecline Komori and Ootani. Ootani is one of the shortest people in his class, and compared to the six-foot-tall Komori, everyone is tiny, making him look even shorter by comparison. As they point out when they first interact, their names mean the exact opposite.
** Manga/MissKobayashisDragonMaid has Lucoa and Shouta, although the height difference is justified by the fact that the latter is only 10 years old (though it's implied that Lucoa might actually be a case of MistakenForPedophile).
** [=ChiChi ChiChi=] has Hikaru and his eventual girlfriend Chintarou, who towers over him despite being several years his junior. His little sister Sana is also about a head taller than him.
** Mizuki from Paranoia Cage is several inches taller than her crush Kyousuke.

!!!By Title:
* Manga/The100GirlfriendsWhoReallyReallyReallyReallyReallyLoveYou:
** The leader of the Gorira Alliance stands at least OneHeadTaller than her boyfriend Yuu.
** Yamame, Rentarou's fourteenth girlfriend, is OneHeadTaller than him.
* Haruyuki Arita and Kuroyukihime from Literature/AccelWorld. He barely reaches to her waist (at least in the anime).
* Downplayed in Manga/AhMyGoddess, where it's only an issue because Keichii is insecure about his height, whereas Belldandy doesn't care and is only slightly taller than he is anyway.
%%* Mizuki and Akira from Manga/AiOreLoveMe.
* Inoue Kazurou's short story Aoi Destruction, where the titular character is a 38-year-old pint-sized Hot "Loli" Dad and his late wife was a overwhelmingly hulking pile of muscle.
%%* Yui and Kei from Manga/TheBeautifulSkiesOfHououHigh.
* Cibo and Killy of the manga series Manga/Blame, with Cibo being a good deal taller than Killy.
* Manga/Bleach: Division 10's Vice Captain Rangiku Matsumoto (172 cm, or 5'7 3/4") and Captain Toushirou Hitsugaya (133 cm, or 4'4"), the woman being massive in at least one area... More like two areas, though.
* Manga/ChierisLoveIs8MetersTall: Chieri is 8 meters taller than her s and ImpliedLoveInterest Yumeji.
* Manga/Claymore: Riful and Dauf (Awakened form), and Clare and Raki (pre-timeskip). Ironically both cases are reversed when they're not Awakened (Riful's human form is a tiny little girl next to Dauf's hulking figure) and post-timeskip (Raki becomes outright huge when he grows up, while Clare doesn't visibly change) respectively.
* Manga/TheDangersInMyHeart: KyĹŤtarĹŤ Ichikawa is only a little short compared to kids his age, while Anna Yamada is incredibly tall compared to everyone else in their age group to the point where she stands shoulders with the average Japanese adult male. At middle school age.
* Manga/DoYouLikeBigGirls involves pint-sized freeter Souta Tachibana getting roped into helping his sister Kaoru with her college's volleyball team, a bevy of attractive ladies who all happen to be much taller than Souta.
* Anime/DragonBallZ: Krillin is noticeably shorter than his wife #18 and practically every other character of the series (Gohan was the same height as him when he was four years old). Although this just might be inconsistent height, considering he's 152 cm and was as tall as Gohan when he was 9 or 10 years old.
* Franchise/FullmetalAlchemist:
** More-or-less every straight Edward Elric pairing (and originally the OfficialCouple of him and ) is this. For most of the manga he's 149 cm - 157 cm, though he outgrows it.
** Noah in Anime/FullmetalAlchemistTheConquerorOfShamballa is at maximum an ImpliedLoveInterest, at minimum his only female friend at the moment, and is noticeably taller than Edward. Unlike in the manga, he's at full-grown height so he won't get any taller. Winry (who is taller than her manga version) is also shown to be taller than Ed in the movie.
** Major Alex Louis Armstrong's parents also count. Mrs. Armstrong is as tall as Alex, but with a very graceful figure. Mr. Armstrong is only half as tall as his wife and son, but has a muscular build that HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE ARMSTRONG LINE FOR GENERATIONS!
* Fujiyama Maki, the middle school-aged main character in Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki, is way taller than her boyfriend Kanba-kun. She's also well-built, chunky enough that a couple of times he's successfully hidden behind her to keep their relationship a secret from classmates.
* Natsuru from Manga/TheGodsLie is at a normal height for an eleven-year-old boy, but the girl he falls for, Suzumura, is tall for her age. At one point she expresses the hope that he'll eventually outgrow her, but we never see if this ever happens.
* Makoto's ThirdOptionLoveInterest Maekawa from Literature/GroundControlToPsychoelectricGirl is a HugeSchoolgirl who towers several centimeters over him.
* Anime/GunXSword: A mild antagonist version; Fasalina is clearly a head and few inches taller than Michael.
* The two main characters in Manga/HitomiChanIsShyWithStrangers are the tall Hitomi, and Yuu, who is a year above Hitomi but short for his age. One chapter sees them get wet and muddy in the rain and Hitomi locked out of her house; she has to get her clothes washed at his place, but none of the clothes he lets her borrow fit. At several later points, Yuu is mistaken for Hitomi's son.
%%* The protagonists of Manga/HoukagoPlays first volume.
* Koichi and Yukako from Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure. Technically and officially Yukako is only four inches taller than Koichi, but because the art-style consistently draws Koichi short it often looks like she towers over him.
* The manga RomCom series Kabocha Wine (and its AnimatedAdaptation The Kabocha Wine) has this as its central gimmick. Protagonist Shunsuke is a PintSizedPowerhouse and self-styled HeManWomanHater who has a soft spot for sweet-natured HugeSchoolgirl Natsumi, who due to standing head and shoulders over many of her normal-sized male classmates, let alone Shunsuke, is more commonly referred to by the nickname "L".For Large size.
* From Literature/Katanagatari, we have Chouchou, who is roughly the size of a child, and Oshidori, who is the tallest female character.
* Manga/KotouraSan: While at this point more of a platonic couple, Yuriko and Dai'chi are also an example.
* Lampshaded in Literature/LibraryWar, in which Kasahara is noticeably taller than her love interest and superior Dojo, to his annoyance.
* Manga/LovelyComplex:
** The whole premise of the series. Koizumi (171 cm tall: HugeSchoolgirl) and Otani (158 cm tall: TheNapoleon) are often seen as a sort of comedic duo due to their height discrepancies and it becomes a popular game to imagine what kind of odd couple they'd make together. For better or worse, they start falling for each other...
** It's also hinted that spoiler: this is a case of GenerationXerox, as Koizumi's grandparents were also like this... and they faced lots of hardships. This may explain why Koizumi's now widowed grandfather hates Otani so much - he fears that he won't be able to make Koizumi happy if they stay together.
* Anime/Macross:
** Anime/MacrossFrontier: Michel Blanc and Klan Klang (often a full-sized Zentraedi). That is, if Klan isn't Micloned. If she does, the trope is HugeGuyTinyGirl instead, as she looks much smaller and younger than her real age.
** Max Jenius and Millia Fallyna from the first series, although they only encountered each other in Millia's original size once... that we know of.
* Manga/MagicKnightRayearth: Tiny SpiritAdvisor Clef (who's ReallySevenHundredYearsOld) and either Umi Ryuzaki or Presea , whether their affections for him are romantic or not (at least onesided from Presea , Umi's case is a bit more debatable).
* In the Anime/MazingerZ SpinOff Manga/NewMazinger, Major Kabuto (human-sized) and Princess Krishna (Mazinger-sized... around eighteen-meters tall). He understandably complains she is the most beautiful woman he has found, but they are the wrong size.
* In Anime/MobileSuitGundam0083StardustMemory, the AmazonianBeauty WrenchWench Moira Bascht and the ButtMonkey pilot Chuck Keith end up becoming the BetaCouple (or at least are implied to do so). Moira stands head and shoulders over Keith and is obviously more muscular then he is.
* Manga/MonsterMusume: Kimihito is of fairly average height, but he's a short guy next to Centora, Rachnera and Tionishia.
* In the Hentai h-manga Monster Romance, the main story revolves around an ice-Oni oni named Asuska who dislikes the idea of dating humans, due to a history of discrimination, however when a human named Eiji asks her out, she thinks of rejecting him but end up accepting, and despite her being slightly taller than him, their size difference is never brought up, and not only do they become a couple, but consumate their relatioship.
* In Manga/MonthlyGirlsNozakiKun, there's Bifauxnen Kashima (176cm) and Hori (164cm). The former will tease the latter about being too short to play lead roles in the drama club but she's still his Fangirl.
* Kaoru of Manga/NanaAndKaoru is really short and skinny, while Nana is a statuesque brunette who's two/three inches taller. One chapter shows he has to stand on tiptoe to whisper into her ear.
* Manga/OnePiece:
** Monkey D. Luffy clocks in at just over 170 cm. His enthusiastic admirer, the pirate empress Boa Hancock, towers over him at a statuesque 191 cm. (For bonus amusement, she's also 12 years his senior, making them if not a MayDecemberRomance then at least a May-August... Whatever The Heck Is Going On There.)
** He later befriends Princess Shirahoshi, the biggest mermaid alive, whose size is comparable to their ship. They more or less remain platonic, however.
**
** Two of Charlotte "Big Mom" Linlin's daughters, Praline and Chiffon, are HappilyMarried to shorter men: Aladdin from the Sun Pirates,Who isn't exactly short, by the way; he's around the height of the 301-cm-tall Jinbe, but Praline is just that huge (specifically, they are 627cm and 800cm respectively). and Capone Bege.Around 166 cm, meaning he's short but not excessively so.
** "Big Mom" Charlotte Linlin and most of her 43 husbands.With whom she's had 85 children. She is 880 cm tall so it must have bordered on HotSkittyOnWailordAction more than a number of times.
* Pietro's parents in VideoGame/Popolocrois. Doubles as InterspeciesRomance, since his mom is a dragon.
* Manga/QueenMillennia: While Hajime and his uncle are notably short, Yayoi tower over any shown man.
* In Manga/Ratman, Shuto Katsuragi and both of his... well, kind-of-s, Mirea Mizushima and Rio Kizaki.
* Not uncommon in the Heian-era fantasy hentai series Shikkoku no Shaga due to its emphasis on InterspeciesRomance between humans and Cute Monster Girls. While the titular Shaga, a karasu tengu, towers over her young ward Ushiwaka (who's still a teenager), the half-human, half-cow spirit Kurenai from the second episode takes the prize- when standing at her full height she's about eight feet tall, and when she and her human lover are leaving the village to look for a new place to live at the end of the episode, she's carrying him bridal style with no discernible effort.
* Anime/SailorMoon:
** Not that Rei is that huge (she is 5'3 (160 cm), around average height for a 14-year-old Japanese girl), but she's about one foot taller than her small grandfather.
** This is usually a reason Makoto/Sailor Jupiter has difficulty finding a guy. Her StatuesqueStunner status usually results in this trope, making most men uncomfortable.
* Manga/TheSevenDeadlySins:
** Meliodas and Elizabeth. Elizabeth isn't particularly tall, but Meliodas is so short that he's sometimes mistaken for a child.
** Diane, one of their teammates, is from the Giant clan and starts the series with a crush on the tiny Meliodas. Still gets played straight when she and Fairy King Harlequin become a couple.
** One of the minor characters, Matrona, is also a GiantWoman. After having dropped out of the story in a flashback, she eventually comes back and is revealed to have fallen for a human man.
** There's Meliodas's antagonistic brother Zeldris, who both share similar stature. He's in love with a taller vampire named Gelda.
** The sequel Manga/FourKnightsOfTheApocalypse adds more examples:
*** Percival and Anne. Like Meliodas and Elizabeth above, Percival is a very short, baby-faced guy and Anne is a teenage girl of normal height.
*** Meliodas's son, Tristan and Isolde. Compared to Meliodas, Tristan is of average height, but Isolde still towers over him.
* In Manga/ShamanKing, Manta Oyamada's father is about his height (in the neighborhood of 80 centimeters tall); his mother, on the other hand, is of normal height (and noticeably better-looking).
* In Manga/SoulEater, Tsubaki is noticeably taller than her meister Black Star, and Liz is taller than Death the Kid. The girls are also quite a bit older. Between the beginning and end of the manga, Kid seems to grow by a ridiculous degree, going from two heads shorter than Liz to her equal in height. How much is supposed to be an actual change in height (there appears to be an unspecified Time Skip after the Baba Yaga arc) rather than ArtEvolution is hard to say.
* In Manga/SuperDreadnoughtGirl4946, short guy Makoto Tokida ends up befriending and forming a relationship with the nearly fifty-meter tall Mana Eimiya. She insists her height is 49 metres 46 centimetres; it's important to her because shorter girls are cuter, right? There's also Kotou Akemi and Isaac Montana, who both tried to win him over Mana.
%%* Manga/SteelAngelKurumi and the 12-year-old protagonist Nakahito.
* Take On Me centers on Tsushida Tomonori (scrawny and about 5'1" (156 cm)) and Hikaru Oono (just shy of 6'0" (182 cm) and capable of walking off with Tsuda tucked under her arm). Since it is that Hentai sort of Manga there are a few amusingly awkward scenes that cannot be described here.
* Makken and Leyte in Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann. Leyte is over a head taller than Makken, who she's shown to have married post-TimeSkip.
* In Anime/TimeBokan, the parrot has a large domineering wife.
* Webcomic/TowerOfGod: Yuri Jahad, who is two heads taller than her dwarfish guide Evan Edroch.
* Manga/Trigun:
** Millie and either Vash or Meryl are a platonic example.
*** Vash and Wolfwood are both rather average-sized. But Wolfwood with Millie becomes this trope, while Vash becomes the Huge Guy with Meryl.
** Pa Nebraska is a tiny, ugly, ancient-looking man. His wife, Ma Nebraska, basically looks like Gofsef (the giant deformed cyborg who is so huge that Pa rides around in his pocket) with breasts and hair. Except she may be even bigger than her giant son, at least a head taller.
* The main couple of HugeSchoolgirl, Ayako, and Mamoru, in Literature/VenusToMamoru is this trope. He comes a bit short of her shoulders.
* Manga/VermeilInGold has Alto, the protagonist, who while not particularly short, gets paired up with Vermeil, a StatuesqueStunner HotAsHell demoness with huge boobs. One chapter hints that Alto has a bit of HeightAngst, and when Vermeil teases him with the suggestion they check the size difference, he reacts badly.
* In Manga/WelcomeToDemonSchoolIrumaKun, Iruma is of below-average height while his ImpliedLoveInterest Ameri towers over not just him but almost everybody.
* Manga/TheWorldIsStillBeautiful: 12-year-old Livius and the older Nike. She is about a head taller when they first meet.
* In Manga/YuGiOh, we have Anzu, who has a somewhat average height for a girl but contrast it with Yugi, who is pretty much a midget. In the BeachEpisode, Jonouchi realizes how odd a ship of them would be. She's also taller than Dark Yugi/Atem. Mai is even taller than both of them.
* She's only seen briefly in a flashback, but Napoleon's ex-wife from Anime/YuGiOhGX clearly towered over him.
* Hiei from Manga/YuYuHakusho is significantly smaller than his prospective s Mukuro, with whom the BelligerentSexualTension is very present.
* VideoGame/ZoneOfTheEnders: Dolores, i, in a non-romantic (sorta), platonic way: The old veteran pilot stuck together with a sentient mecha with a little girl's personality.

* This is a staple of French cartoonist Albert Dubout's illustrations. He especially pushed the size difference to ExaggeratedTrope level, having the husbands being midgets compared to their huge, heavyset battleaxe wives with massive breasts. Observe.

* Animation/AlienFamilyJollyPolly: The eponymous family's father, Podo, is a purple creature with a Cephalothorax body. The mother, Francoise, is a blue fish-like critter who's much taller in comparison. Justified; both are aliens, which have much weirder biology than humans.

* Creator/AvatarPress:
** Christos Gage's Absolution has Alpha, a female Brick, well over 1.8 m tall and happily married to a non-metahuman man of considerably more average proportions.
* Creator/DCComics:
** Scott Free and Big Barda. Awww, so cute. (DependingOnTheWriter, Scott is sometimes just as tall, but even then Barda is a very muscular and fairly full-figured woman while Scott is a very slender and flexible contortionist and escapologist.)
** Also with Scott Free's Manager Oberon and Fire.
** Post-ComicBook/ZeroHourCrisisInTime ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes had Monstress and Element Lad, which might also count as BeastAndBeauty except for the fact that Monstress doesn't have a "Beast" personality.
** Characters/DickGrayson and Starfire of Titans fame. He's only short relative to other superheroes, but she is almost two meters tall. More, counting her hair. They stay like this even in the animated version, where she's somewhat shorter and has normal hair.
** Sizeshifters Giganta and ComicBook/TheAtom (Ryan Choi) used to be an item. Even with both at normal size, she has several inches on him.
** Similarly, Andromeda and Brainiac 5 of ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes.
** Characters/TheCharacter is usually considerably taller than Steve Trevor, however just how much of a difference they have in height is fairly inconsistent in continuities outside of ComicBook/TheLegendOfWonderWoman2016.
** ComicBook/Robin1993 villains Micro and Macro are a couple with size-shifting abilities and Micro is small enough to ride on his girlfriend's shoulder during their crime spree in Gotham.
* Creator/HarveyComics:
** Long-running character Little Lotta, a large BigEater with near super strength, has Gerald, a stereotypical puny bookworm, for a guy pal.
* Creator/JohnByrne's favorite trope, incorporating it into every comic he writes that he can get away with, such as ComicBook/SheHulk, ComicBook/Babe, and even when he took over writing duties at ComicBook/1987 he managed to introduce a short guy for Diana to command.
* Creator/MarvelComics:
** ComicBook/AlphaFlight has the towering Diamond Lil and average-height Technopath Madison Jeffries. Also Heather Hudson briefly dated Puck, a dwarf.
** Technically, whenever any ComicBook/AntMan shrinks down and his girlfriend/wife doesn't - often making use of their shrinking for more lewd purposes.
*** In one comic, Hank Pym used his shrinking abilities to pleasure his wife Janet van Dyne in a decidedly different manner.
*** Eric O'Grady - otherwise known as The Jerkass Irredeemable Ant-Man - had no qualms about using his shrinking abilities to peep on female superheroes while they showered, and once snuck into ComicBook/BlackWidow's cleavage.
** ComicBook/SheHulk and Wyatt Wingfoot, when they were dating. Note that Wyatt Wingfoot is actually a pretty large fellow (he's taller than say, Reed Richards or Johnny Storm). Really, she has ended up being taller than every man she dated seriously.
** Wolverine and almost any woman he dates. At 5'3" (160 cm), even his teenage "sidekicks" Jubilee and Kitty Pryde are taller.
** Cypher and Bei the Blood Moon. Cypher would probably be considered normal sized, at 5'9" and 150lbs, if he didn't hang around superheroes so much. But his wife towers over him by at least a foot, and has the Amazonian physique appropriate to an immortal mutant warrior.
* Creator/TangentComics has the MisterBig Doll Man and his moll, the tall, muscular Big Barda.

** Geriatrix, being in his 90s, would be pretty short even if he wasn't always hunched over. His drop-dead-gorgeous wife is one of the tallest Gauls in the village (and most of that height is leg).
** Likewise, Bravura the "modernist" female bard is roughly twice the height of Asterix, whom she takes a liking to. She shamelessly exploits the difference, using it to pick him up when she feels like it, until she gets him so mad that he punches her.
** In Asterix and the New Class, a flashback to the births of Asterix and Obelix shows that Vitalstatistix had a large mother and a small father, as an inversion of the size difference between him and his wife Impedimenta.
* ComicBook/DeathLiesAndTreachery: When Wim Magwit stands on a circus podium and wears a pointy gnome hat, he's still shorter than his BigBeautifulWoman wife.
* ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDW: In "Reflections", Celestia is revealed to have a relationship with an alternate universe Sombra, who's noticeably shorter than her.
* ComicBook/RedEars: Due to the differing art styles. GĂĽrcan GĂĽrsel in particular tends to emphasize women's legs, drawing them as towering Amazonians compared to the shorter men they're paired with.
* In ComicBook/TheSanctuaryTree: Donald Duck and the fat female guard who falls in love with him.
* ComicBook/SavageDragon: Battle Girl and Mr. Glum, though he used a PoweredArmor that makes him look tall, he is actually a diminutive alien which doesn't bother all his girlfriend, who is a normal-sized teenage girl.
* ComicBook/SavageHearts has Bronwyn, a boisterous barbarian beauty who towers over her beast-man partner Graor.
* Back when they were together, ComicBook/ScottPilgrim and Envy were this, as Envy is about a head taller than him.

* ComicStrip/TheAddamsFamily: the mother (later named Morticia by the TV show) is considerably taller than the father (Gomez) in the original comics. This carries over to animated versions of the characters, but not to the 90s live-action films (where Gomez is played by the 6ft2 Creator/RaulJulia, and Morticia by the 5ft10 Creator/AnjelicaHuston), or the 60s TV show (Creator/JohnAstin is a very average height at 5ft10, and Carolyn Jones was 5ft5--they are often filmed in ways that make Morticia look taller than she is, but she's still clearly not taller than Gomez).
* ComicStrip/BigNate: Nate was the tiny guy to Kim's huge girl when he was forced to go out with her.
* Chester Gould used this trope twice in ComicStrip/DickTracy; first with Jerome Trohs and Mamma; then again with Heels Beals and Acres O' Reilly.
* This serves as the punchline to one WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones comic strip. Dino falls in love with a female dinosaur, and in the last panel we see that she towers over him.
** In another comic, Dino falls in love with another giant female dinosaur, which annoys Fred as it means he's forced to use a giant bowl and cement mixer in order to feed them.
* ComicStrip/MaryWorth has neighbors Saul Wynter and Eve, drawn together by their shared love of dogs. She's easily a head taller than he is.
* During the high school days of ComicStrip/SafeHavens, there was Gerald and Bambi, a diminutive computer nerd and a tall igBeautifulWomanBW respectively. They started going out because they were so mismatched. After their relationship got strained by Gerald going to a different college, Bambi becoming a professional singer, and Gerald's growth spurt making him as tall as Bambi, they amicably broke up (to her agent Jenny's consternation, as nice Break Up Songs don't do well on the charts).

* This Website/DeviantArt drawing.
* When it comes to most of HVK's WesternAnimation/AdventureTime fan fictions, whenever Finn is paired up with a love interest, you can expect that girl to be at least two times bigger than Finn, and it's often written as romantic and cute. The same author's works follow a similar pattern with Karkat and Terezi; Karkat is typically depicted as being very short for a troll, while Terezi is gigantic.
* A non-romantic example with allies Xenilla (a.k.a Spacegodzilla) and Destroyah in Fanfic/TheBridge, once they are transferred to Equestria. Xenilla isn't exactly small, being a hair taller than Princess Luna and fairly well built. But put him next to the gargantuan Destroyah, who is a full head taller than Princess Celestia and a good deal bulkier; anyone would look small.
* A number of Toys/Bionicle fans were hoping that Kiina and Berix would become a couple. Jossed by Greg Farshtey, since they're from different species.
* Fanfic/ChildOfTheStorm has Harry and Carol, who start out as this (though they're merely platonic at the time), with him being 5'4 at best and a skinny teenager, and Carol, who's a year older and hit a growth spurt early is 5'11. Harry hits a growth spurt of his own and rapidly catches up, as they get closer over the following year or so, but he still isn't the same height/is slightly shorter than her in the sequel when the UST really hots up and .
* In Fanfic/TheCliff, Mime and BrĂĽnnhilde end up together. He is a dwarf and she a former Valkyrie, which means she is almost twice as tall as him.
* Fanfic/InfinityTrainSeekerOfCrocus: A platonic example is 60-year-old Amelia when partnered with 11-year-old Yuri.
* FanFic/ItsNotTheRaptorDNA: A platonic example with Elise the Indominus rex and Owen Grady, as despite not being fully grown, Elise nonetheless towers over Owen as well as the rest of the human characters.
* Fanfic/JimmyTwoShoesTheMovieMiseryLovesCompany: Lucius Heinous VII is the Tiny Guy to his long lost wife Maggie's Huge Girl, due to the fact that Maggie is of normal height while Lucius is a comically tiny Napoleon.
* Fanfic/MandiesNewTarget: Mandie is much taller than Danny, whom she is infatuated with. Danny, for his part, isn't interested.
* Fanfic/TheManyDatesOfDannyFenton: Some of Danny's dates are taller than him, the most obvious being Makoto/Lita Kino, though it does nothing to diminish Danny's interest in them.
* FanFic/HeroesOfTheNewWorld: Izuku is a bit short for his age, while his partner Yamato is a StatuesqueStunner who is at least twice as tall as him.
* In Fanfic/MyHuntsmanAcademia, Pyrrha Nikos is at least a half-foot taller than her next tallest teammate, Izuku, who is noted to be somewhat short for his age due to his lack of Aura to help his growth along. She's quite embarrassed by this and it makes her stick out when they're hanging out in Vale together.
* Kyril and Evetta from Fanfic/TheNightUnfurls are a platonic example. Kyril is by no means "tiny", being TallDarkAndHandsome, but he is shorter than Evetta by a few inches.
* Since Princess Celestia and Princess Luna from WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic are alicorns, which are much taller than the average pony, humanized works involving them will invoke this trope. (Especially when flirting with their gruff but shorter guards.)
* In the Manga/Naruto/Manga/Fairy Tail fanfic Ninja Tail, Erza is roughly a head taller than her love interest Naruto, who is about the same height as Lucy.
* C'ren Bieber of the WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants fanfic Fanfic/OneLessLonelyGurl is 179 cm, while Music/JustinBieber is 171 cm. Also, her alleged second love interest is implied to be Plankton, who is short both in canon and the fic.
* In Fanfic/APossibleEncounterForAPhantom, Danny Fenton meets Kim Possible. As this is from season 3 of her series, she's 16 and taller than the 14 year old boy. This doesn't stop the ShipTease between them.
* The Sandman and his s Almas, Spirit of the Wishing Star, in the Return of the Guardians fanfiction trilogy. He is cartoonishly short and squat, while she is a 9ft tall Blue-Skinned Space Babe. Their couple-y interactions usually have Almas cradling Sandy like a baby, and he does not mind at all.
* Due to the InterspeciesRomance element of Blog/Solarhood, Sonic and Elise have very different heights. Sonic doesn't even reach Elise's shoulders. This results in more than one gag.
* Fanfic/AStarstruckPhantasmicRomance: Both Starfire and Blackfire are taller than Danny, but it doesn't diminish their love for him.
* Seen in the Fanfic/TwiceUponAnAge series in any scene where Varric and Bethany are together. Since he's a dwarf and she's human, she's naturally taller than he is. However, it's subverted in that Bethany is one of the smallest humans in the Dragon Age franchise, and the narrative observes that she's not quite a full head taller than her dwarven companion.
* Fanfic/VoyagesOfTheWildSeaHorse: Harumi Tsukuyomi and Miriam Ransdottir fit this trope to a tee. He's 169 centimeters tall, making him on the short side even for a human, and she's 426 centimeters tall. A rough size comparison puts him about as tall as her knee. The size comparison gets even more outlandish considering she has limbs rippling with muscles and a permanent potbelly whilst he is so slender and delicate looking he is frequently mistaken for a woman, to say nothing of how much she must outweigh him. Given that Harumi is an AmazonChaser from a LadyLand where strong women are idealized, he thinks she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen.
** Miriam's mother Agnetha and her unnamed fishman boyfriend are an exaggerated version; most fishmen are roughly the size of tall humans on average, whilst Agnetha is 20 meters tall. No, that's not a misprint; twenty meters.
* Mothers and Fanfic/WakingNightmares, both written by [=KnightMysterio=], mentions that Fluttershy's mother Barricade is a massive but loving brute, while her father Tender Loving Care is meek and quiet.

* WesternAnimation/BeeMovie has a platonic version between anthropomorphic bee Barry, who forms a friendship with (and also a one-sided crush on) attractive human florist Vanessa.
* Xibalba and La Muerte in WesternAnimation/TheBookOfLife. Downplayed as both are Gods, which makes them incredibly tall with La Muerte being just a few inches taller than her husband who normally slumps but is slightly taller than when he stands straight.
* Both sets of parents in WesternAnimation/CorpseBride are this in different ways. William and Nell Van Dort are roughly the same height, but William is skinny whereas Nell is wide enough to have trouble getting into the carriage. Finis and Maudeline Everglot appear to be the same height when we first see them, but then it is revealed Finis is standing on a stepladder and is only about half as tall as his wife.
* Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon:
** WesternAnimation/AliceInWonderland has the King and Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts is a huge, overbearing figure. The King of Hearts is minuscule in comparison. It is lampshaded in the introductions:
--->White Rabbit: Her imperial highness, he... her grace, her excellency, her royal majesty, the Queen of Hearts!\
Crowd: [wild cheers]\
The King: [clears his throat expectantly]\
White Rabbit: And the King.\
Random voice: Hooray!
** In WesternAnimation/ChickenRun, Mr. Tweedy is a lot stouter than his LeanAndMean wife, but he's also significantly shorter, in no small part due to his permanent stoop.
** WesternAnimation/Encanto has Pepa being married to Felix with the former being visibly a head shorter than the latter who is short and stocky compared to Pepa's tall and thin. Platonically, she also serves as the huge girl to tiny guy, the latter being visibly shorter than both Julieta and the aforementioned Felix.
** Hyacinth Hippo and Ben Ali Gator on the "Dance of the Hours" segment of WesternAnimation/Fantasia. HenpeckedHusband Flying John and his domineering wife in the "Rhapsody in Blue" segment of WesternAnimation/Fantasia2000.
** In WesternAnimation/AGoofyMovie, a couple like this shows up in the "On the Open Road" musical number, with the husband even having a high-pitched voice and the wife having a low-pitched voice. It turns out the husband's a roadie for Powerline and the wife .
--->Husband: Just a week of rest and relaxation...\
Wife: Yeah!\
Husband: ...and the odd romantic episode!\
Max: VERY odd!
** In WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph, [[spoiler:Fix-It Felix Jr. and Sgt. Tamora Jean Calhoun]] take it to an extreme. The top of his head just barely reaches her hips. This is due to them belonging to vastly different aesthetics. He's a cartoony, Mario-like character from an '80s arcade game, while she's more realistically-proportioned (mostly) and from a modern first-person shooter.
* The couple in Dodudindon. The woman is a BigBeautifulWoman and the man is small, short, and scrawny in comparison to her (and he wants her oh, so badly).
* Ted and Audrey from WesternAnimation/TheLorax2012. A more comedic example is the Once-ler's Uncle Ubb and Aunt Grizelda from the same movie. Grizelda isn't just taller than Ubb, she's also very fat.
* WesternAnimation/MonsterHouse: Mr. Nebbercracker and Constance the Giantess.
* In WesternAnimation/MonstersInc, Mike Wazowski and his girlfriend Celia Mae. She's roughly the height of a human adult, whereas he's basically a basketball-sized eyeball on legs.
* In WesternAnimation/MonstersVsAliens, Susan was still engaged to a normal man when she grew to (almost!) 15 meters tall.
* WesternAnimation/OliverAndCompany:
** Tito the chihuahua and Georgette the poodle, though it's mostly an unrequited crush from Tito to Georgette until the end.
** Dodger and Rita also fit this trope as Rita is clearly taller than Dodger.
* A double-feature from WesternAnimation/Planes: Dusty Crophopper, the protagonist, is significantly smaller than his s Ishani, but their size difference is nothing compared to that between Rochelle and El Chupacabra.
* Anime/PonyoOnTheCliffByTheSea: Ponyo's parents. Her mother, Granmammare, can hold her father Fujimoto in the palm of her hand when she's at full size. He's not particularly tiny, though -- she's just really big. Just to make it clear, Granmammare is the personification of the ocean! Fujimoto used to be a regular human, and now at least still appears human. Thus, it's extremely understandable that she'd be bigger than him.
* WesternAnimation/QuestForAHeart: Millie the elf girl is a lot taller than the male rollis Rölli, Lackey, Cacophony, and Longwind, who she goes on the titular quest with.
* Mehitabel the cat and Archy the cockroach from WesternAnimation/ShinboneAlley.
* Donkey and Dragon from Franchise/Shrek. Also Farquaad and Fiona in the first movie, for the brief time that they're together.
* In WesternAnimation/Sing2, there’s Buster Moon and Suki Lane. Suki is like a 10-foot pole compared to Buster (who already has a Napoleon-complex to begin with).
%%* In WesternAnimation/StrangeMagic, .
* WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosMovie: Much like the source material, Princess Peach is shown to be a head or two taller than Mario. Peach specifically brings this up when they first meet, as she questions if Mario is indeed human considering he's closer in height to her Toad subjects than to her.
* In the opening sequence of WesternAnimation/TheTripletsOfBelleville, the audience consists entirely of tiny men and their enormous wives. The influence of Albert Dubout (see Arts above) is likely.
* In WesternAnimation/ToyStory2 and 3 Buzz is noticeably shorter then Jessie. It helps that they're both toys from different times and companies.
* In the animated segments of Music/TheWall, the schoolmaster's psychotic wife is portrayed as a fat giant who towers over her marionette husband, even when she's sitting down and he's standing.
* WesternAnimation/WallE has WALL-E and EVE. It should noted that even though they're not technically male and female because they are genderless robots, their character designs and voice actors give them masculine and feminine features respectively.
* WesternAnimation/TheWild has a one sided romance between a squirrel and a giraffe.

* Film/AttackOfThe50FootWoman: Being the titular 50-foot (15 meters) woman, Nancy Archer towers over her husband, Harry.
* Film/Avatar: It's only actually seen once, but Jake is considerably shorter than his 3-meter eventual spouse Neytiri, though in all but one scene, he interacts with her through his equally tall Avatar which he eventually permanently uploads into.
* In Film/BackToSchool, 5'7" Keith Gordon (James Melon) dates 6'0" Creator/TerryFarrell (Valerie); he practically needs to stand on his toes to kiss her.
* PlayedForLaughs in Film/BeverlyHillsCopII, where 5'9" Creator/EddieMurphy tries tiptoeing to look taller next to 6'0" Creator/BrigitteNielsen. He also cracks jokes about her height.
* In Creator/FedericoFellini's Casanova, 6'4" Creator/DonaldSutherland is literally dwarfed by 7'7" Sandra Allen, the world's tallest woman at the time.
* In Film/DeepImpact, 5'5" Creator/ElijahWood and 5'10" Creator/LeeleeSobieski are paired together.
* Film/ADogsPurpose has Toni and Roxy. Toni is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Roxy is a Landseer. Roxy is over twice Toni's size. To him, it is LoveAtFirstSight and they become inseparable.
* Lux (the barbarian) and Nim (the halfling) in Film/DungeonsAndDragonsWrathOfTheDragonGod. They're not exactly an item, per se, but they do get several instances of Ship Teasing.
* Film/EllaEnchanted has Slannen the elf (who's slightly smaller than a human man) falling in love with Brumhilda the giantess.
* Downplayed in Theatre/AFunnyThingHappenedOnTheWayToTheForum, where Pseudolus (played by the 5'11" Zero Mostel) ends up with Gymnasia (played by the 6'2" Inga Neilsen).
* Moranis was not so lucky in Film/Ghostbusters1984, where he tried to court 5'11" Creator/SigourneyWeaver, however, she chose 6'1" Creator/BillMurray instead.
* Relatively speaking in Film/Godzilla 2014. The male MUTO is perhaps 25% the size of the female it mates with. A case of ShownTheirWork, given that many arthropods, arachnids, and insects display sexual dimorphism in favor of the female (read: the female of the species is normally larger than the male.)
* In Film/GrumpyOldMen and Film/GrumpierOldMen 5'5" Creator/KevinPollak is paired with 5'10" Creator/DarylHannah.
* Film/Hairspray1988: Mr. and Mrs. Turnblad. Admittedly, the mother is played by a man in drag, but it's played straight in both movies and the theatre adaptation.
* Film/Hairspray2007: Penny is noticeably taller than Seaweed.
* In Film/HarryPotterAndTheGobletOfFire, Hagrid unsuccessfully tries to court Madam Maxime; both are half-giants, but Maxime is more than a head taller than him.
* In Film/TheHobbitTheDesolationOfSmaug, KĂli (a Dwarf) finds the captain of Thranduil's guard, Tauriel, to be quite attractive. She does not appear to mind the attention.
* In Film/HoneyIShrunkTheKids and Film/HoneyIBlewUpTheKid 5'4" Creator/RickMoranis and 5'8" Creator/MarciaStrassman are playing husband and wife.
* Film/TheHungerGames has Katniss Everdeen, played by 5'7" (170 cm) Creator/JenniferLawrence and Peeta Mellark, played by 5'5" or 165 cm (and not exactly broadly built) Creator/JoshHutcherson. It almost looks like she could bench-press him.
* Film/JulieAndJulia: Julia Child (Creator/MerylStreep) and her sister (Creator/JaneLynch) are both about 6'2" (188 cm) (in TheFifties, where the average man ls around 5'8" (173 cm)) and both fall for guys who are a head shorter, despite Julia's attempt at setting her sister up with a guy who's taller. ("What's he like?" "He's... tall.")
* Film/Kisapmata: Mila is noticably taller than her husband Noel. This is discussed InUniverse by Dadong, who uses that observation to mock Noel.
* In Film/TheLittleRascals short "Thundering Fleas", after seeing one of her sister's wedding rehearsals, Mary decides to pretend marry Joe. Mary is a lanky girl while Joe is a chubby, short boy.
* In Film/LittleShopOfHorrors, Moranis (Seymour) and 5'6" (plus large heels) Ellen Greene (Audrey) fall in love with each other.
* In Love Laughs at Film/AndyHardy, Andy (5'2" Creator/MickeyRooney) has a date with Coffy Smith (6’2” Dorothy Ford).
* Film/Manhattan pairs 5'5"/165 cm Creator/WoodyAllen with 5'11"/180 cm Creator/MarielHemingway (who's also much younger than Allen--both Allen and his character were forty-two, while Hemingway was sixteen and playing a seventeen-year-old). There's also Creator/DianeKeaton (5'7"/169 cm) and her ex-boyfriend Creator/WallaceShawn (5'2"/157 cm).
* Creator/TomHolland (5'7) as Peter Parker is notably one of the very few male superhero leads in Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse to be visibly shorter than the leading female of his respective movies (besides 5'7 Creator/RobertDowneyJr and 5'9 Creator/GwynethPaltrow but the former is made to look taller to hide this) which includes both his love interests Liz (played by 5'9 Creator/LauraHarrier) in Film/SpiderManHomecoming and MJ (played by 5'10 Creator/Zendaya) in Film/SpiderManFarFromHome & Film/SpiderManNoWayHome.
* In Film/NapoleonDynamite, Kip falls in love with a girl named Lafawnduh, who is one... maybe two heads taller than him.
* Film/Norbit: Rasputia is enormously overweight, compared to the very skinny Norbit. She is also taller than him.
* Referenced in Film/OceansEleven, in which Saul objects to Tess being Benedict's girlfriend on the grounds that she's too tall for him. Presumably Saul finds this trope disagreeable.
* The 2005 version of Film/TheProducers pairs Broderick up with the 5'11" Creator/UmaThurman.
* The average height, gaunt Kyle and amazonian BBW Rhonda in Film/RoadTrip in addition to the 5'3 (160 cm) lead Josh and both his love interests.
* 5'6" Creator/JackBlack and 5'9" Creator/GwynethPaltrow in Film/ShallowHal.
* In the 2004 remake of Literature/TheStepfordWives, 5'7 1/2" Creator/MatthewBroderick and 5'10" Creator/NicoleKidman are playing husband and wife, and no attempt is made to conceal the height difference.
* In Film/TransformersDarkOfTheMoon, 5'9" Rosie Huntington Whiteley was cast as Carly, replacing 5'4" Creator/MeganFox in the role. Whiteley was concerned that she'd tower over 5'8" Creator/ShiaLaBeouf, her love interest in the film, and wanted to wear flat shoes. However, director Creator/MichaelBay insisted she should wear heels, because "we're giving short guys hope".
* Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit:
** Roger and Jessica Rabbit. He doesn't reach her waist.
** Dolores and Eddie Valiant. Far from as drastic and so much less noticeable, but still she has several inches on him.

* A very tall girl standing 188 cm goes to her doctor for advice. She explains that her boyfriend has dwarfism and is only 122 cm tall. Embarrassed, she explains her concerns to the doctor: "Will we... you know... be able to do it?" The doctor ponders on this for a second or two and then smiles. "There should be no problems at all. The human race encompasses all shapes and sizes and there's nothing physical that's going to prevent you both from enjoying a healthy sex life... The problem is, you won't have anyone to talk to."
* A MathematiciansAnswer pun (often told about famously short author Creator/HarlanEllison, for example):
-->Tiny Guy: What would you say to a little fuck?\
Huge Girl: I'd say: "Hello, little fuck."

* Literature/AnonymousRex - Vincent, a velociraptor, is naturally much smaller than his friend and colleague, Glenda, a hadrosaur. At one point, Vincent steps onto Glenda's shoulders to reach a high drainpipe, noting that he felt "like a young son sitting on his mother's shoulders to watch a parade."
* The Literature/AToZMysteries book The Empty Envelope gives us the two stamp thieves Otto Bird and Doris Duncan.
* Luchino from Literature/Baccano is a smallish teenage boy. Aging, on the other hand, stands well over two meters and is described as having a build like Michelangelo's David, but with breasts and 50% more muscle. Luchino barely reaches up to her chest.
* In Literature/BrimstoneAngels, Brin is visibly shorter than Havilar... even when you don't take her horns into account. WordOfGod notes that they genderflip a lot of other stereotypes; Brin is a NonActionGuy and Havi's a highly skilled fighter, and he's a ShelteredAristocrat incognito while she's a sharp-tongued commoner.
* In Literature/TheCityWithoutMemory, the planet Krina is home to two humanoid subspecies: the atani pygmies and the humans who are practically identical to the ones on Earth. They can interbreed, sometimes invoking the trope.
** Dr. Crack, an atani, is married to a human woman. Even though she’s not too tall by human standards, she towers over him.
** Veri-Meri wants to marry Squirrel, who is extremely short (she is even able to disguise herself as an atani). Problem is, Veri-Meri is also extremely short – by atani standards. He solves the problem by standing on stilts. She rejects him anyway – not due to the height difference but because he’s a ManipulativeBastard.
* Two thirds of has a girl in the body of a big, vaguely UsefulNotes/TyrannosaurusRex-ish dinosaur and the boy interested in her in something smaller. Tomboy Patience becomes a 9 meter Acrocanthosaurus while Will is a 3 meter Deinonychus; Claire becomes a 12 meter Carcharodontosaurus while Aaron is a 6 meter and more lightly built Dilophosaur.
* Literature/Discworld:
** The short, skinny Sam Vimes ends up marrying the extremely well-built Lady Sybil, who's described as looming over him when they first meet.
** In Literature/Thud, pipsqueak Nobby Nobbs dates 1.8 meter stripper Tawneee.
** Casanunda, TheCasanova dwarf who dates human women, has "Stepladders Repaired" as one of the claims on MyCard.
** Greengrocer Arthur Winkling suffers from late-onset vampirism and is a HenpeckedHusband to his domineering human wife, who expressly forbids him from doing all that business with flighty young women in underwired nightdresses who are no better than they should be. A subversion and a ShoutOut to Gomez and Morticia Addams.
** In Literature/GuardsGuards, the hero of the climax ends up with a lady considerably larger than him.
* In the Series/DoctorWho Literature/EighthDoctorAdventures book Vanishing Point, Fitz's GirlOfTheWeek is at least 198 cm (and extremely Moe -- she has an odd, asymmetrical face and badly mismatched legs that give her a limp, and is extremely sheltered thanks to a benevolent variant of MadwomanInTheAttic). It's never quite clear how tall he is, and he sometimes seems to feel he's JustForFun/egregiously tall, but in this book he's implied to be shorter than the 173 cm Doctor. They're both skinny, though.
* In the Tamuli sequel series to Literature/TheElenium: Kring and Mirtai, a bowlegged Peloi shrimp who was BornInTheSaddle and an Atan ActionGirl "giantess" (courtesy of selective breeding) respectively, have a mutual interest; . They bond over their respective ProudWarriorRaceGuy traditions.
* The Literature/GarrettPI novels' AmazonianBeauty Winger and "the Remora", her shrimp of a boyfriend/biographer.
* Sera Vorder and Francis Love Skelbrooke from Goblin Moon and The Gnome's Engine. She's so tall and sturdy that she's embarrassed about it, he's petite and (deceptively) delicate-looking.
* Literature/HarryPotter:
** Hagrid's parents are a normal-sized wizard and a literal giant. How, you ask? AWizardDidIt!
** Monsieur Delacour (no first name given) is described as short and plump, while his wife Apolline is a head taller than him.
** The twentieth-anniversary edition of the first book mentions that Hogwarts professors Pomona Sprout and Filius Flitwick had a relationship in the past and remain AmicableExes. Both are described as short, but Sprout is within a typical human range while Flitwick's diminutive stature, reportedly due to distant goblin ancestry, is repeatedly mentioned throughout the series.
* Literature/HonorHarrington:
** Honor is 6'2" (188cm) and Paul Tankersley was about 5'6" (168cm), but powerfully built. He spent a lot of time teasing her and giving her sexually laden grief about it before he had a bridge dropped on him. Later she got a more equal match, as is about the same height.
** Anton Zilwicki and Cathy Montaigne just keeps the proportion. He is about 5'6" (168 cm) tall and just as broad; she's about 6' (183 m) tall and extremely lanky.
** Victor Cachat is described as average in size, slim and wiry. His girlfriend is the product of generations of selective breeding for size and strength and described as an 'ogress' by people first meeting her.
* In Literature/TheIronTeeth web serial two of the bandits in Herad's band are Geralhd and Vorscha. The two are implied to be an item, and Geralhd is described as small man while Vorscha is a very tall and muscular woman.
* In John Crowley's Literature/LittleBigOrTheFairiesParliament, Smoky Barnable, height unspecified but described as short, marries Daily Alice Drinkwater (over 1.8 m). Toward the end of the story, though, the size disparity becomes ... much larger.
* Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood of Literature/Matilda: Mr. Wormwood is illustrated as very thin while Mrs. Wormwood is at least twice his size (but the same height).
* In Literature/LesMiserables, Creator/VictorHugo describes Monsieur Thénardier as "a skinny little runt" and Madame Thénardier as "tall, blond, ruddy, barrel-like, brawny, boxy, huge, and agile."
* In MotherGoose nursery rhymes, there's Jack Sprat and his wifeJack Sprat could eat no fat/His wife could eat no lean.... Jack is usually depicted as small and very thin, while his wife is not only OneHeadTaller but three or four times wider than him.
* The Literature/MythAdventures books imply that Aahz and Tananda had a fling in the past. Tananda is tall enough to have subjected Skeeve to MarshmallowHell in the graphic novel of Another Fine Myth, and Aahz is shorter than Skeeve.
* In the Literature/Outlander series, Brianna "Bree" Frasier-[=MacKensie=], a redhead who stands nearly six feet tall, is once hit upon by Roger, a much shorter British soldier who allegedly has a thing for giantesses. His mates jokingly say he would need a stepladder just to kiss her.
* In the Literature/ProtectorOfTheSmall quartet, Keladry's father is about 162 cm, while her mother is a good several centimeters taller. Kel inherited her mother's height, but it looks like she doesn't hook up with any guy that's shorter than her.
* In Literature/RallyRoundTheFlagBoys, Laura Beauchamp is taller and far more energetic than her husband Willard.
* In A Real Princess series by Alexandra Yegorushkina, Dis is of normal height and build (for a dwarf lady, meaning shortish and chubby by human standards), while her love interest Kirn is extremely short and thin for a dwarf.
* In Literature/RuslanAndLudmila, the dwarf evil wizard Chernomor abducts Ludmila, who is considerably taller than him. It's mentioned it's not the first time he has tried to hit on human women.
* In Literature/SewerGasAndElectric, Harry Gant's mother is a tall, husky construction forewoman, while his father is a short, rather frail history buff.
* Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire:
** Jaime's aunt Genna, who is huge in every way, and her husband Emmon Frey, a little wisp of a man.
** Brienne is taller than both her love interests: Jaime's about 188 cm and Renly about 191 cm, while Brienne is 196 cm. (Creator/GeorgeRRMartin's precise words when asked how tall she is are: "Taller than both Renly and Jaime and significantly heavier [more muscular] than either of them... a bit shorter than the Hound, maybe roughly the same height as Robert [Baratheon].")
** Due to Tyrion Lannister's dwarfism, this trope applies to him and his love interests all the time. Not PlayedForLaughs when Tyrion is forced to marry Sansa Stark for political reasons, and she refuses to bow down to allow him to remove her cloak at the marriage ceremony; Tyrion has to be picked up so he can reach her, to the derision of the witnesses.
*** It's especially noticeable in the show, as Book Sansa is a fairly normal-sized twelve-year-old while Show Sansa is 179 cm. Of course, Show Tyrion (135 cm) is taller than Book Tyrion (a little under 1.2 m), but not enough to make up the difference.
* In Literature/TechnomagiaISmoki, Lampart, who despite the name is rather a SquishyMage, is introduced lusting over Siballa, a BrawnHilda (at least in the narrator's point of view) fantasy viking warrior. The narrator notes Lampart only reaches Siballa's breast and is worried about the mage's obsession. When Lampart gets the opportunity to actually talk to her, they get on like house on fire and become a couple in a matter of days (Siballa tells fascinating stories and is pretty smart, if uneducated, so it's not as unequal as it sounds). Towards the end of the story, they even get married (sort of).
* In the children's book Tiny and Mister Bigman, Tiny is the definition of AmazonianBeauty, a 196 cm strong as an ox Jamaican woman with a voice like a hurricane that unintentionally frightens all the men on the island and Mister Bigman is a 162 cm scrawny almost deaf white man on vacation from somewhere. They fall in love almost the moment they meet.
* Literature/VorkosiganSaga:
** Miles Vorkosigan HasAType. The only adult woman in his life that was not at least OneHeadTaller than his own four-foot-ten-on-a-good-day (147cm) height was more interested in his foster brother than him. The two most notable examples are his first crush Elena Bothari (around 5'10" / 178cm) and the experimental SuperSoldier he rescued and named Taura (around 8' / 2.4m).
** In the short story "Winterfair Gifts", a member of House Vorkosigan's personal guard (Armsman Roic, a rather tall and powerfully built fellow by ordinary standards) has an epiphany after coming face to bustline with Taura and nearly dislocating his arm helping with her luggage when she arrived to attend Miles' wedding. "This must be what it's like for M'lord... all the time." Roic and Taura also arguably end up an example of this trope, though less dramatically so than Miles and Taura.
* Creator/StephenKing's story "The Wedding Gig" features a 300-pound (145 kg) woman marrying a 90-pound (27 kg) man.
* Literature/Wilt: Henry and Eva. In line with author Creator/TomSharpe's female leads, Eva is an EarthMother, a very much larger-than-life woman who does everything to excess, including motherhood - she is mother to quad girls, also to Henry's discomfort. And they all take after Mum...

* Creator/PeterDinklage played one of Liz Lemon's guys of the week on Series/ThirtyRock.
* A non-romantic example in Series/Angel; Lilah is only slightly taller than Lindsey, but her high heels make the height difference more significant.
* Gaius Baltar and Six in Series/2003 - 5'10" Tricia Helfer is several cm taller than 5'7" James Callis, and it doesn't hurt that she often wears heels.
* Chummy (played by Creator/MirandaHart, see below) and Peter on Series/CallTheMidwife. Chummy is just over 6'1" tall and Peter, her police sergeant husband, is approximately 5'8" tall. This would make him at the tall end of average from the time period (1950s), but compared to his wife he looks tiny; especially on the rare occasions she wears heels.
* Series/Firefly: Through the use of camera angles, Wash is portrayed as being a few cm shorter than his wife Zoe. On the DVD commentaries people actually express surprise at well how this works, since in real life Creator/AlanTudyk (Wash) is a few cm taller than Creator/GinaTorres (Zoe), and there was never anything blatant like standing on a box used to change anyone's height for the screen.
* Series/Fleabag: An ever-so-slight but still noticeable one with the titular character and her love interest "Hot Priest", played by 5'10" Creator/PhoebeWallerBridge and 5'8" Creator/AndrewScott, respectively.
* Series/GetSmart tried to avert this: In close-up shots, Barbara Feldon always had to scrunch down to avoid towering over Don Adams. It couldn't be avoided in wide shots.
* One episode of Series/TheGoldenGirls has Rose dating a little person. The episode largely focuses on whether or not she would be comfortable in the relationship, but she finally decides that it's okay. The punchline comes when he breaks things off with her... because she's not Jewish.
* Invoked on an episode of Series/TheGoodPlace by Tahani (played by 5'11" Jameela Jamil, who usually also wore heels in the role) to Chidi (played by 5'8" William Jackson Harper).
-->Tahani: "I'm just a girl....towering over a boy...."
* Played straight on Series/HannahMontana, when Miley ends up on a date with Oliver's friend Connor, who is noticeably shorter.
* An episode of Series/HappyDays had Richie going to a Halloween party with a girl who was several inches taller than he was.
* In Series/LALaw, Stuart Markowitz and Ann Kelsey became a couple and eventually got married. Stuart was short and chubby, while she was much taller. This could also be added to real life examples since the actors were married in real life.
* Series/LastOfTheSummerWine: Wally and Nora Batty. Wally is short and very skinny and Nora is five centimeters taller, but substantially broader and deeper. Not to mention considerably more forceful.
* On a 2007 episode of Series/LawAndOrderCriminalIntent, a murder case featured as potential suspects NoCelebritiesWereHarmed versions of Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern: a washed-up stripper named Lorelei Mailer (obviously meant to represent Smith during her "fat" years), and her common-law husband, who's a little shrimp.
* Series/Miranda2009: Comedienne Hart uses several variants on this theme. As Miranda stands 188 cm tall, the vast majority of men are a lot shorter than she is, anyway. Visual humour is mined by her pursuit of men of average height, about 175 cm. She adds an extra visual dimension to this gag by having the very petite actress Patricia Hodge playing her mother. Seeing the two acting a scene together, with 188 cm Miranda standing next to 155 cm Patricia, the mind is suitably boggled and you ask.... how?
* Series/Mom: Bonnie was a head taller than Christy's father Alvin, much to Christy's annoyance she got her height from him instead of her mom.
* Davy and the beautiful, tall laundromat owner in Series/TheMonkees episode "Monkees Get Out More Dirt".
* Series/NCIS: Abby dates a fellow scientist who is a little person. Abby being Abby, there's no indication she even notices his height until he dumps her for being too tall (an unfortunate development, as the breakup was actually due to the death of the actor).
* Series/NedsDeclassifiedSchoolSurvivalGuide: In season one, Ned was much shorter than best friend and eventual love interest Moze. Somewhat averted in that by the time she started to become his love interest, he had nearly caught up to her in height.
* Series/NeverHaveIEver: Fabiola doesn't want to date Alex Gomez because he's way shorter than she is (that, and the fact that she's a lesbian). Devi encourages her to go for it anyway because he has a hot face, and they'd be "like Zayn and Gigi". Zayn Malik is not actually that much shorter than Gigi Hadid, only an inch, though the fact that she wears high heels at public events makes the height difference seem bigger than it is.
* Series/SavedByTheBell: Jessie was taller than most of her dates leading to an ImagineSpot where she doesn't stop growing.
* On Series/Seinfeld, George has said he'd love to date a "giantess".
* On Series/SexAndTheCity, statuesque Samantha briefly dates an investment banker who's barely above 1.5 meters in height. She is pleased by his performance in the bedroom, likening him to a "horny smurf." While she initially wants to break up with him when she discovers that he buys his clothes at the children's department (they're cheaper and they fit him better), his sense of humor manages to save the day.
* In Series/SpinCity, Mike Flaherty briefly dates supermodel Heidi Klum and coworker Nikki Faber, who are both about a head taller than him.
* Series/Survivor: Gabon: Ken is the shortest, skinniest guy on the show, while his chief ally, Crystal, stands 6'3" (191cm) tall.
* Series/That70sShow has two couples like this: Eric and Donna (who are also a subversion: they're actually about the same height, but Donna is way stronger whereas Eric is noted for his thinness), then Fez and Big Rhonda. In a WhatIf episode, Eric's Guardian Angel (played by Creator/WayneKnight) shows Eric what his future would be like if he had never dated Donna. In said future, he actually ends up losing his virginity to Big Rhonda. Bob and Pam might also count. Bob is by no means small, but Pam towers over him.
* In Series/TrustUsWithYourLife, Wayne gets paired with Serena Williams. The guy can't catch a break...
* Series/Warrior2019: It's only for one evening, but in season three Young Jun enthusiastically enjoys his time with a tall and extremely well built German sex worker named Valentina. Both of them are very clearly intrigued by the size difference, with Young Jun joking to his friends that he's probably going to die, but it'll be worth it, and Valentina referring to him as "My little Zeus".
* C.J. Cregg (played by the ridiculously tall Creator/AllisonJanney) and Danny Concannon (who's just about normal height) on Series/TheWestWing. Hangingd with C.J. and her TemporaryLoveInterest Agent Simon Donovan (played by Creator/MarkHarmon) when C.J. remarks that she really likes how tall Donovan is because "it makes [her] feel more feminine."
* Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway:
** There was one episode with Creator/WayneBrady the shortest of the players but highly agile singing to... a female bodybuilder. They're actually about the same height, and she IS wearing heels but... she's a BODYBUILDER.
** In another episode, during a playing of Greatest Hits about Series/XenaWarriorPrincess, Wayne and Chip Esten have to sing a song called "Huge Women, Puny Men."
* For a short time there on Series/TheWonderYears, thanks to the vagaries of puberty, Winnie was significantly taller than Kevin.
* In Series/WorkingClass, Carli (played by Melissa Peterman, 5'9 1/2" or 177 cm) gets an internet date (played by David Faustino, 5'2 1/2" or 158 cm) to go to her boss's housewarming party with her. Numerous height jokes ensue. And then it turns out his ex-wife (played by Senta Moses, 4'11" or 150 cm) was invited to the same party.

* Ragtime-era songs like "Can You Tame Wild Wimmen" (Sterling/Von Tilzer, 1918) tend to feature little guys terrified of their huge girlfriends/wives who, in classic slapstick tradition, usually use rolling pins as weapons.
* The 1930s song "Everyone Has Sex Appeal for Someone" by Ronald Frankau contains the lines: "There's the little chap who married someone statuesque and grand / He's worn himself to ribbons, at least I understand / Through climbing up to kiss her and sliding back to land / so she must have had some sex appeal for him."
* The 1958 Bill Haley & His Comets classic "Skinny Minnie" is from the point of view of a shorter man dating a gal who is "1.8 m high and 30 cm thick."
* Joan Armatrading's "I Love It When You Call Me Names" is about a "big woman and a short, short man."
* The Music/Prince song "Raspberry Beret" includes the lines "Built as she was, she had the nerve to ask me / If I meant to do her any harm", the implication being that the woman's stature meant she should have had no reason to see the five-foot-two Prince as a threat.

* In the animation in the video for "Fritz, Fritz, Love My Tits".
* Porcelain Black (5'10"/178 cm) and Music/LilWayne (5'5"/165 cm) in Porcelain's video for "This Is What Rock N Roll Looks Like"; it doesn't help that she's wearing heels. Also an example of AWildRapperAppears.
* Music/Lit's Music/Miserable: The lead singer is implied to be in a relationship with the GiantWoman (played by Creator/PamelaAnderson) who is so much bigger than him that he and his band mates can ColossusClimb all over her body and use places like her hip, her face, or her butt as a stage while they play her their song. Considering the song's title and lyrics, and the fact that she it's apparently a bad relationship.
* In Panic by the Czech band Lucie, the lead singer is in a romantic relationship with a beautiful giantess in a red dress and high heels. By the end of the video he proposes to her and slips a ring on her finger. [[spoiler: She accepts, then she eats him alive, spits out his guitar and belches.]]

* Myth/MesopotamianMythology has the primordial couple Abzu and Tiamat - representing fresh water and salt water respectively. Abzu was represented as a humanoid god with wings, while Tiamat is a mastodontic sea-serpent/dragon large enough that her carcass was used to form the heavens and the Earth.
* A Myth/Mythology (possibly Navajo) legend features a giant who meets a human man and wants to try wife-swapping. The human woman is killed while the human man is dissolved.
* In Myth/ClassicalMythology, the god Phorcys is a lobster-like merman, and his wife Keto is a sea monster. Literally.

* Boris and Natasha from Pinball/TheAdventuresOfRockyAndBullwinkleAndFriends, appropriately enough.

* Puny manager Wrestling/HarveyWippleman and his huge "girlfriend", Bertha Faye, from the WWF in the mid-90's.
* When NYX wasn't booked to wrestle, she was most commonly booked for the visual gag of a giant dominatrix or babes shadowing a man. Since NYX was 6'5 260 lbs and the average man in the US is only 5'9, this visual could be pulled off even with genuinely tall, muscular men like the 6'2 220 lbs Devin Devine, but in most cases NYX would be paired with the smallest man available for giggles. Unfortunately most of her career was on the independent circuit during dialup internet, so the existing images are low quality.
* In TNA, 8-time X-division (read: small) champion Chris Sabin with the huge Alpha Female.

* Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy of Franchise/TheMuppets is a famous example. They exaggerate the trope by playing on her HairTriggerTemper (made scarier by her size) and his meekness (made funnier by his size). Piggy's actually karate-chopped Kermit on occasion, thus bringing up another trope.

* A platonic example in Roleplay/DawnOfANewAgeOldportBlues. Sebastian is 4'9", very short for his age and tied for the shortest member of the cast. His symbiotic ride-along, Fesxis, is a whopping 9 feet, almost twice his height.

* In TabletopGame/BattleTech, Victor Steiner-Davion is noted as being only 1.6 m, unusually short compared to the women he consorted with, neither of whom has a notable height.
* In TabletopGame/Eberron, House Tharashk is composed of a large group of human, orc, and half-orc families. Though the books don't dwell on it much, it's pretty clear that this relationship and its inverse are very common, whether through clan endogamy or unrelated humans and orcs marrying into the House.
* TabletopGame/Rifts: Warlords of Russia has a lot of ShipTease between Warlords Kolodenko and Romanov. Kolodenko is a baseline Human, while Romanov is a ten-foot-tall combat cyborg.
* In TabletopGame/RocketAge, Maduri men aren't exactly small, towering over most humans, but the women are giants, more heavily muscled and tusked. This is due to genetic engineering; the women were engineered for defence, while the men were engineered for offence.

* The all-male comedy ballet troupe Creator/LesBalletsTrockaderoDeMonteCarlo makes a point of casting a huge guy in the lead female role and a tiny guy in the lead male role in Theatre/SwanLake, just for the comic effect it gives to some of the traditional ballet moves.
* A 2007 production of Creator/WilliamShakespeare's Theatre/Cymbeline cast David Collings as King Cymbeline and the much taller (and younger) Creator/GwendolineChristie as the villainous queen.
* The ghost of Frumah-Sarah in Theatre/FiddlerOnTheRoof is commonly depicted as towering over Tevye (usually by means of a TotemPoleTrench). Since the musical number in which she appears is a story made up by Tevye, it's unclear if this was ever actually the case when she was alive.
* The Geekenders production of Theatre/TheRockyHorrorShow (at least, with the cast in the youtube recording, as they've had a few different casts) has quite a tall Magenta (effect increased by HighHeelPower) and a Riff Raff who's even shorter than he is in the film. He buries his face in her chest after Frank whips him.

* VideoGame/AeroTheAcroBat: Aero's girlfriend, Aerial, is about a head taller than Aero himself.
* The s of VideoGame/Alundra 2, Princess Alexei is 2 times the height of the main character, Flint. She's standing on a lower elevation in the kiss scene at the game's end.
* From VideoGame/ArTonelicoQogaKnellOfArCiel, there's the diminutive scientist Katene and , who towers over him in terms of both height and muscularity... well, most of the time, anyway. They're embarrassingly and hilariously lovey-dovey together.
* In Metal Combat (the sequel to VideoGame/BattleClash), the alien Zephyr has a huge and hideous wife named Pamela who is a good deal taller and wider then him. Even her mech is huge!
* VideoGame/BlazBlue has the married couple of Nine and Jubei. Nine is a tall, powerful witch who has a pretty impressive chest to boot, not to mention wearing stiletto boots. Meanwhile, Jubei is a humanoid cat, even shorter than preteen Carl Clover, but quite the PintSizePowerhouse. Both of them are part of the legendary Six Heroes and it seems they used to be quite in love. They even had a child: Kokonoe.
* Every kissable female in VideoGame/Bully is a head taller than our protagonist, except for Eunice who is still physically larger than him.
* Ayla and Kino in VideoGame/ChronoTrigger. Ayla is over 1.8 meters tall, ridiculously strong to the point of outperforming even advanced robots, and towers over basically everybody except Robo (who is a lot taller and larger than he looks in-game in official art). Kino is about the same height as Marle (second shortest character after Frog), not to mention a complete wimp. Additionally, it's mentioned that their relationship is a gender-inverted form of WifeHusbandry, as Ayla found Kino as a child and raised him herself before taking him as a husband.
* VideoGame/ConkersBadFurDay. Conker seems to have a thing for taller women, given that he stands maybe up to his girlfriend Berri's kneecaps. But it truly becomes Huge Girl Tiny Guy when he meets Jugga, an enormous cavewoman. However, it doesn't work out between them.
* VideoGame/CrashBandicoot: Crash is about half the size of Tawna, his love interest in the first game.
* Flonne at 157 cm from the Franchise/Disgaea series towers above the 130 cm Laharl, according to the supplementary art book; Etna is also about 13 centimeters taller than him. This doesn't really come across in the game proper very well, because almost all the cutscene portraits and character sprites are the same size. Some official art does show this though.
* VideoGame/DragaliaLost has Faris and Ryszarda, two of the Apostles. While Faris isn't exactly short, his partner Ryszarda positively towers over him and the rest of the Apostles at over 6 feet tall.
* Franchise/DragonAge:
** Dragons in this setting follow this. Male dragons are wingless and grow to be about the size of a large drafthorse. Females will eventually become massive High Dragons.
** In VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins, this happens when romancing Leliana or Morrigan with a male dwarf or elf. However, in the romance scenes, the dwarf is taller. A female human PC romancing Zevran also counts, seeing as elves are shorter than humans.
** Even in VideoGame/DragonAgeII, where elves are generally taller, Fenris seems smaller than a female Hawke (and Isabela, his potential sex-buddy), perhaps because he's skinny and also slouches a lot.
** In VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition, a female Adaar (Qunari) romancing Blackwall is a version of this. While Blackwall isn't tiny by any means, he's certainly very small in comparison to Adaar. A male Cadash (dwarf) romancing Cassandra or Josephine plays this straight.
** Also, as seen in the spinoff comic series set between the second and third games, human Maevaris Tilani had this with her late fiance, Varric's cousin Thorold Tethras, who was a dwarf.
* Nythera's parents in VideoGame/DragonFable. Her father is a human wizard and her mother is a dragon.
* VideoGame/DragonQuestIV: Torneko's wife is one head taller than him according to the Mystery Dungeon illustrations.
* VideoGame/DragonsDogma: Due to the the game's main feature of Pawns (you create a main Pawn to be your constant battle partner/follower), you can create a tall/muscular/plump woman as your main character, and then make a short/skinny man as your main Pawn (or vice versa).
* Franchise/TheElderScrolls:
** Throughout the series until Skyrim, this was the case for the Bosmer (Wood Elves). Males are typically the shortest people in the game, while females are close to the average height of all races. Skyrim then did away with any notable height disparity in the race. Although this appears to be a one-off thing, as the males are back to being shorter than the females in VideoGame/TheElderScrollsOnline.
** Aureals (aka Golden Saints) and Mazken (aka Dark Seducers), are two forms of lesser Daedra in service to Sheogorath. The females are considerably taller (and deadlier) than the males.
** Skyrim introduces romance options to the series. This can easily happen if you play as a female character from a tall race (such as an Altmer) and marry a man from a shorter race (like a Breton), or vice versa.
* VideoGame/EuropaUniversalis: TheMusical, were it not an AprilFoolsDay joke, would have involved a romance between a male Ulm and a female France.
* VideoGame/Fable: In the second game investing in Strength will give you muscles, while investing in Skill gives you height, meaning than a female character can potentially end up much taller and more burly than a husband. There is also a far bit of fan art with Hammer and Garth that strongly features this trope. In the third game, the Princess is taller than almost everyone else from the outset, possibly because of her Heroic bloodlines).
* VideoGame/FateGrandOrder: When Orion the Hunter is summoned, you get his Buxom goddess girlfriend Artemis instead, while Orion is turned into a teddy bear.
* The Viera race in VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV has this dynamic in contrast to the other playable races. The males are on average shorter compared to the females, with a 19 centimeter difference in height between the shortest male and the tallest female (roughly 7 inches in imperial units).
* Franchise/FireEmblem:
** VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade: and either (platonic) or (romantic), as she's a literal dragon (okay, half-dragon). It only happens once, however, and involuntarily at that; normally, she's about Eilwood's height.
*** Also, spoiler: Ninian (and Nils)'s parents. The mom was Aenir, a dragon woman; the dad was... Nergal, then a normal human shaman, and later the ArchnemesisDad. (She surely had a human form, if Ninian and Nils are an indication.)
** VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBindingBlade: Fae and almost any male, but especially Elffin and Roy. Again, when she's in Dragon form.
** The Sacred Stones: Myrrh and either Saleh or Ephraim when she's in her real Dragon form. If she's not, she's the TokenMiniMoe instead.
* VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening: the ChildMage Ricken, who is noted to be much shorter than the standard and not very happy about it, and several of his possible brides... including a Female Avatar with either "late teens" or "young adult woman" builds. The trick might also work if the player pairs up CountryMouse Donnel with taller women, again including a tall Female Avatar.
** One can also customize a male Avatar to look as if he's around Ricken's height (via the "early teens" build), then pair him up with a taller lady like Panne, Miriel, Cordelia or .
** Might happen in the if Kjelle, the tallest of the girls and a GlacierWaif, is paired up with Morgan, the smallest of the boys. The same happens if she's romanced by a Male Avatar with the "early teens" build.
* While their in-game sprites make it hard to tell, VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin has Boyfriend and Girlfriend, the latter being OneHeadTaller than the former. The developers stated that it's apparently to the point that Girlfriend has to kneel down in order to make eye contact with Boyfriend, let alone hold hands.
* In the secret ending of Cinderella, , who is twice his size.
* The first interspecies couple in VideoGame/GuildWars2, Nicholas and Yngvild, definitely qualify as this, as he's a human and she's a norn, making her about 2.4 meters tall.
* The Harvest Goddess in VideoGame/HarvestMoonAnimalParade towers over the protagonist. In VideoGame/HarvestMoonIslandOfHappiness, the extremely short chef Pierre is able to be married by female players.
* VideoGame/JakAndDaxter: An odd example between Daxter and Tess, considering that Daxter's not human. Although he used to be. [[spoiler:Creative wish-granting on behalf of some Alien Precursors evened things out, though.]]
* VideoGame/JazzJackrabbit is considerably shorter than his love interest Eva Earlong.
* VideoGame/TheLastOfUsPartII: A platonic example. Deuteragonist Abby is a very tall, muscular woman in her early twenties who's partnered with a short twelve-year old named Lev. They're Foil foils to the first game's leads, a grizzled survivor Joel, who's in his fifties, and fourteen-year old Ellie.
* Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda:
** VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask has Anju and Kafei, though this is only because Kafei was de-aged into a child by Skull Kid.
** In VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess, is quite the StatuesqueStunner. Combine this with the fact that Link is not exactly tall, and you get this.
** In VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild, the Gerudo are portrayed as much taller on average than before, being over 2 meters tall at adult height. This makes this trope universal between them and their Hylian husbands. It could conceivably be averted if there were Gerudo women who fell in love with men of any of the non-human races, who are portrayed as being as tall as the average Gerudo, but no such pairing is depicted. Even in disguise asking the guard to go in, she'll comment that this "Gerudo" is too short, not tanned, and has blonde hair.
*** One Gerudo actually has had dating trouble due to this trope! She's spending her days drinking her sorrows away because her newest beau doesn't "like girls twice [his] height", despite her only being 2.4 meters tall in her words.
** Taken to the extremes in VideoGame/HyruleWarriors: One of Link's "weapons" is the Great Fairy... which means you actually play as the gigantic Great Fairy while she Irony carries Link inside a bottle, occasionally letting him out so they can do a combo attack before she sticks him back into the bottle.
* While most of the Princesses in VideoGame/LittleKingsStory are taller then Corobo, two take it to ridiculous extremes. The Busty Princess Ferne is as tall as 4 Corobos. The obese Princess Spumoni is simply just far, far wider and taller then the poor little King.
* The protagonist of NES game VideoGame/MenaceBeach is considerably smaller than his girlfriend.
* Torahime and Kisuke from Muramasa, though this might just be because of the art style, since human enemies can be absolutely enormous for no reason. Kisuke is tiny no matter what, though. Raijin and Fujin even moreso.
* VideoGame/NierAutomata: 2B and 9S. Their height difference isn't actually that big, but 2B's CombatStilettos make her stand a full head taller than 9S, making him seem much more small and delicate in comparison.
* VideoGame/RatchetAndClank: Ratchet is shorter than each of his Girls of the Week by variable amounts: maybe an inch or two shorter than Sasha, One Head Shorter than Talwyn, and at least a foot shorter than Angela. This has less to do with InterspeciesRomance than it does with Ratchet being just plain short. (Angela is the same species as Ratchet, though it's unknown whether this means that Ratchet is short for his kind or that female Lombaxes are naturally bigger than males, given that Angela is the only one that's actually been seen in the series.) Additionally, Dr. Nefarious gets into a fling with the utterly massive Cassiopeia.
* Shoma and Natsu from VideoGame/RivalSchools, though both have trouble expressing those feelings and spend their time arguing with each other instead.
* VideoGame/RuneScape quest "Gunnar's Ground" has you assisting a dwarf poet in wooing a barbarian princess.
* Taupy from VideoGame/SandsOfDestruction is a midget bearfolk who looks like an adorable pirate teddy bear. His wife Muffy also looks like a teddy bear, but is nearly two stories tall and gets summoned to throw her husband at the enemy for his LimitBreak.
* Thanks to the almost infinite customization of its avatars, it's not uncommon to see a wide disparity in heights between male and female "partners" in the online world VideoGame/SecondLife.
* The titular VideoGame/ShovelKnight has a downplayed example of this with his partner Shield Knight. While Shield Knight isn't drastically taller than Shovel Knight, Shovel Knight being shorter-than-average only reaches to her shoulders. PromotedToPlayable VillainProtagonist Plague Knight meanwhile plays this straight as his partner Mona is among the tallest [=NPCs=] in the game. For reference, Plague Knight is the same height as Shovel Knight, and Plague Knight reaches about Mona's waist when she's standing.
* Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog and the human Princess Elise from VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006, though any semblance of a romantic relationship Starboarding is primarily one-sided on Elise's part.
* VideoGame/SpyroTheDragon1998: This is the dynamic of the mooks that have overrun Cliff Town and serve Doctor Shemp. The huge girls smack the tiny guys in Spyro's direction, though if he moves she may send them off a ledge and to their deaths.
* Franchise/SuperMarioBros:
** Peach is visibly (at least) OneHeadTaller than Mario, even when Mario has used a Super Mushroom, mostly because Mario is shorter than average. Perhaps one of the most famous examples in all media aside from Boris and Natasha. But this is a somewhat played-with trope in this case since in overall size, Mario is much bigger due to his stocky build and strong enough to throw heavy objects and enemies with ease, while Peach is slim, dainty, and feminine (but can also be just as strong as Mario depending on the game) . Not to mention the VideoGame/MarioKart series classifies Peach as either a lightweight or a middleweight, while Mario is always classified as a middleweight. However, it's still this trope at the core since she has to bend down to kiss her heroic plumber.
** Sometimes with his brother Luigi, he alternates between being her size or shorter, but he is mostly shorter than her. In VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld, he is marginally shorter than her so they would share similar hitboxes.
** Princess Daisy is slightly shorter than Peach, but is still a little taller than Luigi. Rosalina on the other hand, is much taller (she is approximately the same height as Waluigi). Even more so with Rosalina, who was seen as a giant at the end of both Galaxy games, and the VideoGame/MarioKart series games classes her as a heavyweight despite her slender PrincessClassic type delicate build. In Super Mario 3D World, she is the same height as Peach, so Rosalina wouldn't have an unfairly large hurtbox as a playable character.
* Promo material for VideoGame/SuperSmashBros has repeatedly emphasized Little Mac's lack of height (he's 170 cm) by standing him next to the 191 cm Samus Aran. Any romance is strictly in the eyes of fans, though.
* VideoGame/SwordOfTheStars:
** The entire Zuul species. The top end of average height for male Zuul is 25 cm shorter than the bottom end of average height for female Zuul, and the difference in weight is even greater (45-70 vs. 175 kilos).
** The Morrigi, as the males are small eastern dragon creatures with psychic glamour and the ladies are huge western dragons with the ability to terrorize foes with their version of psychic powers.
* Milla and Jude from VideoGame/TalesOfXillia have this going on, with Milla standing at around 167 cm, while Jude is around 162 cm. This is justified by Milla being about five years older than Jude, who is 15.
* Though the height difference is not as pronounced as other examples on this page, Omid from VideoGame/TheWalkingDead is noticeably shorter than his girlfriend Christa.
* VideoGame/Warcraft:
** Handsome stag/centaur Zaetar had relations with the four-armed, three-faced, giant stone monster that is Princess Theradras. This also counts as HotGuyUglyWife.
** Alexstrasza and Korialstrasz/Krasus. Although they're pretty close in height in humanoid form (him being about a head taller), in dragon form she's at least twice his size.
** The Wobblesprockets who can be found in Sholazar Basin: Marvin, a gnome, and Tamara, a human.
** In a not-so-obvious example, there's the three high elf/human pairs (the Windrunner sisters and their human partners); while in-game, the high/blood elves are about the same size as humans, in the official artwork the elves are nearly always depicted as being an entire head taller than the humans. The most clear example here would be Sylvanas, the middle Windrunner sister, and her human boyfriend Nathanos. Look at how she's an entire head taller!
** Invoked in Battle for Azeroth in a minor quest chain where you help a goblin and a troll with getting two brontosaurs to mate to continue their species. Along the way, the male gets accidentally shrunk by the goblin's gadgets. Regardless, the quest chain ends with you successfully getting the female to accept the male. The goblin briefly wonders if they should restore the male to his original size, but the troll replies, "Nature will find a way. Now let's give them some privacy." Sure enough, you will soon start seeing young brontosaurs all over the place.
** Lor'themar Theron, regent lord of the blood elves, and First Arcanist Thalyssra of the nightborne, who become an OfficialCouple following the events of the Fourth War. She's at least a head taller than him. Lampshaded by Thalyssra in one of her quotes from Dragonflight: "Ever since we began our relationship, the heels in Lor'themar's boots seem to be getting higher and higher!"
* While the Sentients from VideoGame/Warframe mostly aren't even the slightest bit humanoid, there's still an undeniable example of this trope between their enormous leader Hunhow (who's estimated to be at least a kilometer tall and several kilometers wide) and his absolutely titanic mate Praghasa (whose central body is over a hundred kilometers long and nearly ten kilometers wide). As huge as Hunhow is, Praghasa makes him look like a toy next to her. Weirdly, their son and daughter are both only a few meters tall.
* VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2: The main PowerTrio consists of TheHero Rex and his Blade companions Pyra and Mythra. Rex is always towered over by Pyra and Mythra, which the audience is constantly reminded of given their bonds and constant screen time with each other. It's helped by the fact that Rex is already short for his age given that he's in his teens, with his deep voice being the only indicator he's of age, whilst Pyra and Mythra each have the body of a full-figured StatuesqueStunner in order to emphasize their power and other-worldliness as Blades. Thus, Rex is shorter than most adults he comes across whilst Pyra and Mythra tower over them in turn.
** Though he's not a human, Tora and can count as Nopon are usually short, with her even carrying him easily in her first appearance to emphasize this fact.
** Emperor Hugo and Brighid in the prequel also count since AChildShallLeadThem he's still a boy while Brighid too is a StatuesqueStunner.
** When Pyra and Mythra were added to VideoGame/SuperSmashBros, they appeared to get even taller and as Rex is now their AssistCharacter, this is pretty notable whenever he appears in animations with them. Pyra even bends down to get face to face with him when she excitedly greets him for the up taunt.

* VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair: spoiler: Peko and Fuyuhiko. Though she's only a little over 170 cm, she still is considerably taller than Fuyuhiko. She was raised alongside Fuyuhiko by his Yakuza family to be his own personal hitman and bodyguard.
* VisualNovel/HatofulBoyfriend, due to the InterspeciesRomance. One event near the end of Shuu's route suggests a size increase in the sapient birds, but it's still made clear that the human girl is much larger than her love interests.

* WebAnimation/hololive: This is Mori Calliope's preferred dynamic as stated multiple times, much to the delight of genmate Gawr Gura and Ironmouse of WebVideo/Vshojo.
-->Gura: DID'YA HEAR THAT ?? SHE LIKES SHORT, IM IN
* WebAnimation/MysterySkullsAnimated: Lewis's beloved adoptive parents Mrs. and Mr. Pepper. In a character lineup he's one of the shortest adults in the series while she is the tallest human outside her incredibly tall adoptive son himself. Notably in a sticker where Lewis is hugging both of them he's picking up his father with one arm while just hugging his mother with the other.
* WebAnimation/Satina has Dave, a normal sized guy and Lucia, the Queen of Hell, a GiantWoman.
* WebAnimation/SheriffHayseed: Mayor Joy is the only female of the four core characters, but she is the tallest of them, by far.

* A non-couple example happened when Webvideo/TheCinemaSnob and Webvideo/DiamandaHagan did a crossover review of Film/MyraBreckinridge, with the intro having her calling him 'shorty', and the response "I'm not short, you're just Creator/RichardKiel!" Once the review itself started, Brad is sitting on a pile of pillows, which Diamanda is gleefully laughing about.
* WebVideo/EmpiresSMP Season 1: Joel, who is on the shorter side (or average height) for a human man, is married to Lizzie, a 10-foot-tall demigoddess. This means he's quite literally half her size... not that you'd be able to tell by looking at their characters in-game.
* Literature/LoomingGaia:
** Alaine and Glenvar are in an on-and-off relationship, and Alaine is about a head taller than Glenvar.
** Dr. Che is a 5'4" tall male satyr and married to "Big Philly", who's a 8'5" tall female centaur.

* Dale and Nike from Webcomic/BadMoonRising. Nike is a six foot tall amazonian werewolf. Dale is significantly shorter. This is also the default state for Peter and any girl he dates, thanks to having been born without legs.
* Ed and Nina from Webcomic/BetweenFailures. Ed is so short that he needs slightly platformed shoes to stand shoulder height to some of his other male co-workers, while Nina is so tall that most women's shirts fall above her navel.
* Gogo and Andy from Webcomic/Bomango, especially since Andy is younger than her.
* The eponymous character of Webcomic/TheChallengesOfZona makes her reasonably normal-sized boyfriend Mentl look like a freaky little midget by comparison.
* Taken to extremes in Webcomic/Chimneyspeak where Elgie, who's under one meter, has had relationships, sort of, with the normal-sized Chelsea (when she wasn't trying to kill him) and Alice.
* In the Webcomic/ComingToTheLavender, Aaron is a 5'11 ft human while his girlfriend is an 8 ft tall sharp-toothed, 6-legged monster.
* Webcomic/DanAndMabsFurryAdventures:
** Jyrras' parents: His father (a kangaroo rat) is about a third the size of his mother (a kangaroo). They met after the agency they had placed personals with got the species mixed up.
** Jyrras himself follows suit, as a HopelessSuitor of Lorenda Soulstealer, who is at least twice his size and about four or five times his weight. Later on he starts dating Abel, who's also twice his height, but a guy (usually).
* The hyenas in Webcomic/Digger are all like this; hyena females are bigger and more aggressive than the males, like their RealLife counterparts. Most noticeable during Ed's backstory.
* In the Webcomic/DrowTales universe, Drow are this by their very nature, as female Drow are both taller and physically stronger then the males of their race in general.
* Webcomic/EnnuiGo: In the second half of the comic, Calixta gets a significant growth spurt and now towers over her boyfriend Max.
---> Max: Wow, Calixta you...changed.\
Calixta: Y-you think so?\
(The middle panel reveals that Calixta is now a foot or two taller than Max and he's looking up at her as she shyly looks down.)\
Max: Yeah a fuckin' little bit!
** Frankie, aka "Frankenhooker" and Ghost Boy are also an example, as the latter's barely tall enough to reach the former's sides when he isn't floating.
* The first part of Webcomic/FairyTaleRejects features the tall centauress Elska adventuring with the short male satyr Itchy.
* Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt:
** Parley is more than OneHeadTaller than her boyfriend Smitty, and bulks up substantially from her MagicKnight training, to his great appreciation. For their FirstKiss, he stands one step higher than her on the stairs.
--->TheRant: He better start carrying a footstool around.
** The crustacean spouses Lindsey and Bud are this thanks to BizarreSexualDimorphism: Bud fits in a water bucket while Lindsey is a full-fledged SeaMonster.
* Webcomic/HaruSari: June is quite tall, while Chi-Min is short due to being an elf, which means he is permanently stuck in a prepubescent body.
* Webcomic/Homestuck has two such couples: Spades Slick/Snowman and WV/PM, whose height difference only gets larger after [[spoiler:PM becomes a queen]].
* In Webcomic/TheLawOfPurple, you have Memphis, who is a notably short human man, paired up with Sabre, the much taller than him Caligulan elf chick.
* Webcomic/Level1Housewife: Angrboda is a hulking amazon swordswoman who has married a fruit merchant half her size and retired to domestic life. Her husband is only a little shorter than average, but she's a giant, and has trouble not injuring him when she shows him affection. (Fortunately, her great strength is a turn-on for him.)
* Webcomic/ALoonaticsTale: Jeff Nobelium and his wife. WordOfGod is that Mrs. Nobelium is about three Terbiums... and Terbium himself is worth around two or three Jeffs.
* In webcomic Webcomic/TheMeek, Luca is a Napoleon with StoutStrength, while his wife Phe is a fairly tall woman. Guessing from the art, his forehead is about level with her nose.
* In Webcomic/MerchantBand, the two CatFolk bodyguards Bridget and Leif are this, with Bridget being taller and more muscular than her husband.
* In Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick, one-meter halfling Belkar has sex with normal-sized human Jenny, and neither seems at all bothered by the size difference.
* This trope is featured in this Webcomic/Polandball comic, where "macho man" Georgia swears to help protect Fem!Ukraine against Russia. However, it doesn't exactly come off as gentlemanly due to the fact that he's disproportionately smaller than her. Ukraine accepts his help anyways. [[spoiler: And then comes Russia with a bat, who is way bigger than either of them. In a world where size represents military strength, this isn't gonna turn out well.]]
* Chris Morrison's Polymer City Chronicles. Dr. Otto Bonn, [=PhD=] is a scrawny man at 173 cm and 61 kg. His Blue Skinned Space Babe of a wife Andrah, on the other hand, is a towering 216 cm (240 cm with her mohawk). She's not just taller than him either; she's 176 kg. of pure muscle with strength 25 times that of an average human male; then again, almost every female in his comic is large-breasted and/or muscular Andrah, in fact, is based off an ex-girlfriend of Morrison's, an amateur female bodybuilder who was approximately 188 cm, 90 kg. and high resistance to injury. According to WordOfGod, Andrah also happens to be Otto's intellectual equal (as an esteemed mechanic with the Omniglot ability to translate any written or spoken language), and is the 26-year-old's senior by a margin of 217 years. They are such a Belligerent MoeCouplet, it's sweet.
* Webcomic/RubysWorld has Jiro (188 cm) and Ruby (217 cm), providing a unique case of "Huge Guy, Huge-er Girl"
* Webcomic/Sinfest:
** Crimeny and Fuchsia. He's barely up to her waist.
** Slick and 'Nique, too. Actually, most of the male characters would end up fitting this trope if they had love interests...
* A Polyamory polyamorous example exists in Webcomic/SlightlyDamned, the water demon (which are the smallest of the demon breeds Lakritz is about a head shorter than his angel wife Kinako and he isn't even half the height or weight of their earth demon (also known as the largest demon breed) wife Sahne.
* WebComic/StepMonster: Matilda, the eponymous character, is a 600-pound, 8-foot-tall fluffy dragonlike creature. Her boyfriend, Roy Willscott, is a human guy of average size. The same dynamic occurs between Matilda's brother Gordon and his fiancee Sasha; Gordon is about the same height as Matilda, while Sasha Sizeshifter can grow much bigger than him
* Webcomic/SweetBroAndHellaJeff: The beautiful "wonan" whom they both once dated at Subway is double their height and doesn't even completely fit into the panel size (intentionally of course).
* A non-romantic example from Webcomic/TiffanyAndCorey: Tiffany is huge and Corey is tiny. Justified as Corey is just a little boy and Tiffany is a grown woman.
* Webcomic/TuesdayTitans: Titan/human partnerships to an extreme degree. Unavoidable when Titans are immense, genetically engineered Kaiju, and humans are, well... human.
* Dominic and Sarah from Webcomic/Unreality fit into this trope quite nicely, as Sarah is a whopping 3 years older than her 13-year-old boyfriend Dominic, whose head is usually about level with her breasts.
* Zoe, who is 179 cm, and Larson, who is 162 cm, from Webcomic/VenusEnvy play a (mostly) platonic version of this. When they first meet they bump into each other and Larson tries to pick a fight until they get up and he notices how much taller she is than him.

* WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatianStreet:
** In one episode, Roxy, who is a very large dog, had a crush on Dylan.
** Dylan has a crush on a poodle named Portia, who towers over him.
* In WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatiansTheSeries, Two-Tone is rumored to be larger than Lucky (who were potential mates in one episode) partially because of her chubby figure as opposed to Lucky who is slim and slender. This later inspired a lot of fan art of Two-Tone giving Lucky shoulder rides and such.
%%* From WesternAnimation/AladdinTheSeries, Iago and Thundra.
%%* WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball: Nicole's parents, Daniel and Mary Senicourt.
%%* WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong: Jake and Rose.
%%* Mr. and Mrs. Brinks from WesternAnimation/AngelaAnaconda
* In WesternAnimation/TheAngryBeavers, the twist of episode 12 is that the legendary giant river fish, Old Gramps, turns out be a shriveled old fish who is maybe half the size of the beavers. The legends are actually due to his wife, Old Grams, who is big enough to swallow the beavers' dam whole.
* WesternAnimation/Animaniacs:
** We occasionally see Dr. Scratchansniff with his girlfriend, who is much taller and at least three times his weight.
** For a more extreme example, there's WesternAnimation/AndTheBrain and Pharfignewton -- he's a mouse, she's a horse.
* WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender:
** In the original series period, Aang is shorter than Katara. However, this is only because Katara is 2 years older than Aang (kinda sorta) -- by The Promise, set a year after the show, he's already as tall as her, while flashbacks and photos in WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra show Aang became much taller than Katara as an adult.
** SequelSeries WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra has P'Li and Zaheer. Zaheer is of average height and compactly built; P'Li is 6'8".
** An animal example: Korra's roughly horse-sized female polar bear dog Naga and Bolin's male pet fire ferret Pabu, who is a foot long (counting tail) on his best days.
* WesternAnimation/BeastMachines in the case of Obsidian and Strika, and also Rattrap and Botanica. Played disturbingly straight in the Beast Machines toyline where basic-sized figures of Silverbolt can barely reach Blackaracnia's stomach.
* WesternAnimation/TheBerenstainBears 1982 TV special The Berenstain Bears Comic Valentine has Brother Bear meeting his secret admirer, Miss Honey Bear, who turned out to be the goalie for an opposing hockey team. She is taller than Brother and reveals she has an even bigger sister!
* WesternAnimation/BigCityGreens: Cricket's girlfriend Gabriella is about half a head taller than he is, around the same height as Tilly.
%%* WesternAnimation/BrandyAndMrWhiskers are a perfect example.
* In WesternAnimation/CatDog: [[spoiler:Their adoptive parents are revealed to be a male frog and a female yeti]].
* WesternAnimation/CloneHigh: The short, wiry Gandhi eventually ends up with .
* In WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko, Yumi is taller than Ulrich. Justified, considering she's a year older (more or less). Interestingly, Yumi's mother is also taller than her father.
* WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor: Numbuh Three/Kuki Sanban and Numbuh Foor/Wally Beatles. While Kuki is actually the youngest Operative in Sector V, Wally is the shortest, being around a head shorter than Kuki.
* WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom: Skulker and Ember as Ember is really the huge one; Skulker's real form is a tiny green ghost, but he uses a MonsterSuit, thus they appear to be HugeGuyTinyGirl.
* In WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck, the main character is significantly shorter than his girlfriend Morgana Macawber.
* The Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse has Characters/TheCharacter and Steve Trevor, and the previously mentioned Scott Free and Big Barda.
* In WesternAnimation/Disenchantment, Elfo, a child-sized elf, has a crush on Bean, an average-sized human. Since leaving Elfwood, he's discovered that "big girls" are his type. In one episode, Elfo makes up a Girlfriend in a Faraway Land, describing her as "bigger than Bean will ever be." This leads to him having a FakeRelationship with a giantess. Several comments are made about the logistics of this.
* WesternAnimation/TheDragonPrince: Downplayed. Rayla is about an inch taller than Callum (more so if you count the horns. Averted after the timeskip, when he is taller than her.
* WesternAnimation/DuckDodgers has a noteworthy case in that both of Queen Tyr'ahnee's potential love interests, Duck Dodgers and Commander X-2, are shorter than she is. It's just more obvious with X-2, who is a few feet tall.
* WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy: Lee Kanker (tallest female character) has a massive crush on Eddy (shortest male character next to Jimmy). This relationship is one-sided, by the way.
* WesternAnimation/EekTheCat: Eek and Annabelle fit this trope to a tee. She's an obese pink southern belle of a cat who's as tall as a human (in fact, her owner is only heard once as TheVoice welcoming her to her new home when she's let out of her cat carrier). In fact, a running gag is others telling him that his girlfriend is fat, but he doesn't see it; to him, she's a beautiful goddess.
* On WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents, Trixie is the tallest of the kids, invoking this trope with Timmy or whoever else you want to ship her with.
* Whenever Brian from WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy dates a woman, expect this trope to happen. Justified due to Brian being a dog.
* In WesternAnimation/AFineFeatheredFrenzy, Gorgeous Gal is enormously tall and overweight, compared to the very skinny and short WesternAnimation/WoodyWoodpecker.
* WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones: Barney Rubble is shorter than his wife Betty.
* WesternAnimation/Futurama: The short, dumpy Hermes Conrad, and his statuesque, nearly-Amazonian wife [=LaBarbara=].
* In WesternAnimation/HarleyQuinn2019, Doctor Psycho, who has dwarfism, was married to Giganta. Trope because he achieved this through mind control and her first appearance has her walking out on him.
* Riff Raff and his girlfriend Cleo from WesternAnimation/HeathcliffAndTheCatillacCats.
* WesternAnimation/HeyArnold:
** Ernie Potts, the diminutive demolitions man, gets involved with his crush -- a tall, full-figured (a.k.a. "Large and Lovely") model named Lola.
** Harold is about half the height of his possible girlfriend "Big" Patty.
** One episode has a paper fortune teller predict that Sheena and Eugene will get married one day. Note the height difference. He wouldn't even reach her shoulder if his head wasn't so weirdly shaped!
** The girls on average, tend to be taller than the boys. Helga even points this out in one episode when she questions why they're even bothering to wear high heels. This is TruthInTelevision as young boys tend to be shorter than girls until they reach puberty.
* Polish animated series WesternAnimation/HipHipAndHurra loves this trope, in the main protagonists' case anyway. Hip-Hip is a Hippopotamus and his love interest is "neck taller" Giraffe, while Hura is an weasel but his girlfriend is a three times bigger Kangaroo.
%%* Lucius Heinous VII and Jez from WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes.
* WesternAnimation/Kaeloo: Quack Quack starts dating Eugly, who is roughly twice his (and the others') size in the second season.
* WesternAnimation/LittlestPetShop2012: Vinnie and Russell are the two smallest pets in Littlest Pet Shop. All four of the girl pets (Zoe, Pepper, Minka and Penny Ling) are larger than them, with Penny Ling being the biggest of the seven. It also kind of helps that some fans like to ship Vinnie and Penny Ling together due to their fairly-close friendship bonds.
* WesternAnimation/MegaManFullyCharged has Mega Mini, a tiny robot who is so small he lives inside a kid-sized robot's head, develop a romantic interest in Blasto Woman, a huge bot who is easily the size of a car and built like a box.
%%* Vambre and Prohyas' parents on WesternAnimation/MightyMagiswords.
* Miss Spider and Holley in WesternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends. Miss Spider is twice the size of her husband. They are spiders, after all.
* Franchise/MyLittlePony:
** WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEscapeFromCatrina: Catrina is much taller than her minion/former boyfriend Rep, towering over him by a full head or more even when not enlarged by her potion.
** WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic:
*** Even though they're not romantic partners, Spike and Twilight Sparkle fit into this trope -- Twilight's around twice his height.
*** While she does not appear to return the feelings, Spike is openly in love with Rarity who is taller than him because he's a baby dragon and she's an adult mare.
*** Sandbar, a young earth pony boy, and Yona, a female yak who despite her tender age is easily two to three times taller and heavier than Sandbar, and likely to continue that trend in adulthood. They become good pals at the friendship school, and later Sandbar develops a crush on Yona, which she reciprocates. In the finale timeskip montage they're implied to be married.
* In WesternAnimation/PoundPuppies2010, Lucky and Cookie are about the same size, but in the earlier episodes, Cookie was a bit larger than Lucky (which seems appropriate seeing that she's a Boxer, which is a notably large breed of dog).
* Princess Bula and Specky from WesternAnimation/Reboot, but the contrast is jarring: he's as tall as her leg.
* WesternAnimation/PlanetSheen: The female futterbeasts dwarf humans, while the males are small enough to be mistaken for thorns.
* Most of Rocko's LoveInterests and dates from WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife, with the exception of Claudette (also a wallaby). In fact, the most we ever see of Rocko's primary crush Melba is her legs.
* WesternAnimation/RockyAndBullwinkle: Boris and Natasha. One of the most famous examples in all media along with Mario and Princess Peach.
* WesternAnimation/RogerRamjet: The episode "Hoop de Doop" features the Ruvonian basketball team, and their coach turns out to be married to a BrawnHilda type who is described in-universe as being 7ft tall and 300 pounds, with large muscular arms and a tremendous mustache. The audience is even given a brief shot of the two of them together, and she basically looks like one of the brutish Ruvonian basketball players in drag -- though her comparatively tiny and normal looking husband is shown looking at her with utter adoration.
* WesternAnimation/Rugrats: Howard and Betty Deville (Parents of Phil and Lil) fit this trope in both physicality and personality, with Betty easily being the louder and larger in assertiveness than her tiny, timid husband.
* The Scotsman and his wife from WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack. It's not that the Scotsman is tiny -- in fact he's big, ugly, and strong -- it's just that his wife is bigger, uglier, and far stronger!
* WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons:
** Sideshow Mel's wife is about two heads taller than him.
** In Treehouse of Horror XII, Homer is cursed by a gypsy woman. To counteract the curse, Homer traps a leprechaun and orders it to attack her. Instead the gypsy and the leprechaun fall madly in love and the next scene is of their wedding. The leprechaun looks like he comes up to his new wife's knee.
* WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil:
** "Club Snubbed" introduces Tom's parents, King David and Queen Wrathmelior Lucitor, who are a nondescript human-looking fellow of average height and a GiantWoman with the appearance of a BigRedDevil, respectively.
** Star's own parents, Queen Moon and King River, are this as well, though both are Mewman so it's less pronounced than the Lucitor family; still, he only comes up to about her neck, and his wider shoulders compared to her ImpossibleHourglassFigure create the visual illusion of him being that much smaller.
* Greg Universe and Rose Quartz from WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse have quite the height difference. It's not that Greg is particularly short though - he's actually a fairly large guy by human standards - rather Rose was just abnormally huge due to being a humanoid alien, with most estimates putting her at roughly 2.4 meters tall. It seems that Greg has a bit of a thing for this trope. Not only do several characters joke about him evidently dating a lot of tall women, but his cousin Andy briefly mistakes Garnet as being Steven’s mother based solely on the fact that she towers over Greg.
%%* Mac and Molly Mange, the Metallikats in WesternAnimation/SWATKats.
%%* Beast Boy and Raven in WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo.
* Leo and Panthera in WesternAnimation/Thundercats2011. Even by the standards of their species Panthera is a StatuesqueStunner, and towers over her love interest Leo, who (being almost identical to his descendant and main character Lion-O) is relatively short for an adult Cat.
%%* Itchiano "Itchy" and Gnat in the WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures episode "Flea for Your Life."
* WesternAnimation/TotalDrama:
** Sierra from World Tour is the tallest first generation female contestant and has a FanGirl crush on Cody, the shortest original male contestant.
** Also LeShawna, one of the heaviest female contestants, and Otaku Harold, the thinnest male contestant. He's taller, but the contrast between BigBeautifulWoman and Noodle Person is still striking.
** In Pahkitew Island, Shawn and Jasmine are more like Normal Guy, Huge Girl, since she towers over just about everyone.
** While Sam from the fourth season, Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, is one of the taller male contestants, when you compare him to Dakota after her mutation, this trope definitely applies.
* WesternAnimation/TUFFPuppy: Dudley and Kitty fit this trope to a tee, as Kitty is clearly taller than Dudley.
* WesternAnimation/Tutenstein: Tut himself and Cleo Carter. Like Aang and Katara, it's because Cleo is two years older (again, kinda sorta), not to mention Tut is a shriveled mummy.
* Yugo and Amalia of WesternAnimation/Wakfu. Even though she's only one year older, Amalia is at least twice Yugo's height. This is because Yugo's race ages at a slower rate than other people, so after the time skip Yugo still looks the same even when everyone else is growing! Post season 3, this trope is why Yugo doesn't act on his feelings for Amalia; He's worried that a meaningful relationship would be impossible because of A) how silly it would look for a royal to have such a small consort, and B) he doesn't want Amalia to wait who knows how long for Yugo to mature into a man when she's already a young woman.
* Wander and Sylvia from WesternAnimation/WanderOverYonder are a perfect platonic example of this. Wander is a short, scrawny, cartoony humanoid covered in orange fur, whilst Sylvia is an alien bipedal horse-dinosaur-thingy who normally carries Wander around on her back in their travels.
* WesternAnimation/WorkItOutWombats: Mr. E, an iguana, is much shorter than his crush Ellie, who's a moose.
