They choose the former, and in the process the Dicathians are forced to evacuate the castle and go into hiding. In the aftermath, while Arthur, Tessia, and Virion escape the attack, Alduin and Merial aren't so lucky as they along with Blaine and Priscilla Glayder are executed by Agrona's servants to mark the end of his conquest.
