A {{Camera Trick|s}} where the camera is placed directly over the actor, pointing down, while the actor looks up into the camera or at the sky overhead and makes a [[HellIsThatNoise ear-piercingly elongated]] [[ItMakesSenseInContext and somewhat bloodcurdling scream of bloody murder.]] For extra {{LargeHam}}-tacularity, the camera may even be [[SpectacularSpinning spinning upwards or panning upward.]]

This can be done to show intense anguish in the character, implying that they are screaming at the sky because there is nothing on the planet to hold responsible, possibly cursing [[RageAgainstTheHeavens some deity]]. This is especially likely if they are screaming phrases rather than pure noise.

If the cause for this is as simple as [[ComicalOverreacting running out of Cheesy snacks]], the trope immediately becomes comedic. Indeed, it's exceeding rare to be used seriously these days and will almost certainly fall into {{Narm}}.

Showing something like this from the ''front'' results in a VolumetricMouth. If the character is screaming at fate or the gods, its also an example of HeavenAbove. See also BigNo, BigWhy, TheScream, SayMyName, and DeathWail. Often accompanied by MilkingTheGiantCow and SmiteMeOMightySmiter. Do not confuse with ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Skyward Sword]]''.

[[folder:Anime and Manga]]
* ''Anime/CodeGeass:'' Happens a lot, [[LargeHam usually with Lelouch]]. From Turn 17: [[spoiler: "YOU BETRAYED ME, SUZAKU...! YOU BETRAAAAYED MEE!!"]]
* ''Anime/GhostInTheShellStandAloneComplex'': [[spoiler:Batou when the Major is apparently killed.]] His friends mock him for it afterwards by threatening to bring up a satellite picture of him doing it.
* ''Literature/{{Durarara}}'': [[WorldsStrongestMan Shizuo]]: ''IIIIIII-ZAAAAAA-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!''
* Used by Hayate in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaAs'' after [[spoiler:[[UnequalPairing Vita]] getting executed in front of her [[BreakTheCutie breaks her thoroughly]]]].
* Ed in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist2003'': "STOP JERKING ME AROOOOOOOOOUND!"
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'':
** "ANIKIIIIIII!"
** [[spoiler: "NIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"]]
* In ''Anime/DigimonAdventure'', Myotismon unexpectedly did this once with a fit of maniacal laughter. [[NightmareFuel Lovely face that guy has...]]
* Lord Darcia in ''Anime/WolfsRain'' after his lover dies.
%%* One happens in the final arc of ''Franchise/SailorMoon''. Doubles as a BigNo.
* ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'':
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'': Shinn's entire family has just died, and the opening hasn't even played. Insert multi-angled scream of anguish. And ''again'' when [[spoiler: Stella]] dies. [[TraumaCongaLine Poor guy]].
** Setsuna in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'' is [[TheStoic not usually prone to these]] but even he does this trope when he fails to save [[spoiler:Lockon]]: he is seen [[AlasPoorYorick holding Lockon's targeting sight in his Gundam's hand]], shedding ManlyTears while muttering Lockon's name then finally releasing an inarticulate scream of grief. In the second season, [[BrokenBird Louise]] is the one delivering this trope when she [[FreakOut realizes]] successfully taking revenge for her family also made her a killer, slowly turning her TearsOfJoy into ones of OhCrap.
** The final episode of the first cour of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamTheWitchFromMercury'' has a rare example InSpace. [[spoiler: Guel Jeturk ends up having to defend himself from a unit from his father's company during the attack on Plant Quetta after being mistaken for one of the terrorists who have stolen some of the suits. He is horrified to find out that after impaling the other suit that its pilot was none other than [[{{Patricide}} his own father]]. After watching his father's suit explode in the distance despite trying to save him, Guel lets out an anguished scream as the camera pans upward]].
* Saiga in ''Anime/SpeedGrapher''. "That's... SO FUCKED UP!!!!!"
* ''Manga/GreatTeacherOnizuka'': "OOOOOOONNNIIIZUKAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

* ''Manga/{{Akira}}'': "KANEEEEEEEEEEEEDAAAAAAA!" [[SayMyName "TETSUOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"]] [[MemeticMutation "KANEEEEEEEEEDAAAAAAAAA!!!"]]
* ''Manga/OnePiece'':
** Tiny Luffy (heartbreakingly) in ch.588: [[spoiler:SABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!]]
** After Luffy battles Bellamy for the second time, he looks up and screams [[SayMyName DOFLAMINGOOO!!!!!]]
* In ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'':
** Komamura does this ("AIZEN!!") after [[spoiler:Tousen's death]].
** Kenpachi does this after [[spoiler:realizing he killed Unohana]].
** Incidentally, Ichigo actually has a non-tragic one after he defeats [[AloofBigBrother Byakuya]] [[KnightTemplar Kuchiki]]. When a greatly-wounded and worn-out Byakuya walks away and concedes that Ichigo had finally won, and that he wouldn't hunt down [[ActionGirl Rukia]] for execution anymore, Ichigo looks up to the sky while the camera {{pan}}s up away from him, as he let's out a primal, victorious scream to the heavens. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], considering how far he'd come and what he had achieved.
* Fakir in ''Anime/PrincessTutu'' "AHIRUUUUUU!!!!!!"
* Several anime (''Anime/RanmaOneHalf'' springs to mind as an example) combine the Skyward Scream with some kind of reaction elsewhere, especially when the scream is either a curse (usually causing the subject to react, such as by sneezing) or a BattleCry (in which case, someone may slip or accidentally break something).
* Wolfram von Bielefeld in the WhamEpisode of ''Literature/KyoKaraMaoh'': his beloved king was last reported in this church which has since burnt down--but all anyone can find in the ruins is the lonely severed arm of the dedicated once-beloved brother he's been rejecting for years. [[WhamShot Cue scream of frustration.]]
** Also cue CharacterDevelopment. Like anything. It's also after this that he reverts to referring to Conrad by name, which he apparently hasn't done since he was a little kid and found out niisan was half human.
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'':
-->'''Asuka:''' I don't wanna die. [[SurvivalMantra I don't wanna die.]] [[MadnessMantra I don't wanna die.]] ''[[DespairEventHorizon I don't want to die.]]'' '''I DON'T WANNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!'''"
* Non-angsty example in ''Literature/No6'': Sion during the storm in episode 1.
* Happens an awful lot in ''Manga/InuYasha'', mostly from the title character.
** A wordless variant happens in the second movie, complete with spinning camera.
* At the end of ''Anime/OneStormyNight'', Gabu the wolf actually does this after he and his goat friend Mei are now together again and that the moon is rising right in front of them for the first time.
* Mitsunari in the ''VideoGame/SengokuBasara'' movie. He's already had his ThisIsUnforgivable rant, so he just screams.
* ''Anime/{{Bakugan}}'':
** "DRAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
** [[spoiler: "WAYVERRRRRRRRRRRRNNNN!!!"]]
* ''Anime/TransformersArmada'': Optimus Prime lets out a BigNo after Smokescreen in the episode "Sacrifice". After he dies in "Sacrifice", Jetfire screams, "NEVER!" after telling his leader's lifeless body that the autobots would never forget him.
** [[spoiler:And let's not forget the infamous episode "cramp", where Rad [[SayMyName cries out for the hero-bot]], who had given his life to show just how dangerous Unicron truly was.]]
* ''Anime/TransformersCybertron'': [[spoiler: ''(after being soundly [[FaceHeelTurn betrayed]] and imprisoned by his backstabbing second-in-command)'']] Megatron: ''[[TheStarscream STARSCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM!!!!!!]]''
* ''Anime/DragonBallZ'': Characters can scream for minutes just to power up or transform. When yelling out names or lines, you could instigate a DrinkingGame! Notables include:
** "HURRY, GOKU!!!"
** "PICOLOOOOO!!!"
** "CHIAOTZUUUU!!!"
** "YOU'RE ''DEAAAAAAAAAD!!!!'' WHEN I FIND YOU, I'LL ''KILL'' YOU!!!!" (Vegeta, realizing he's been duped out of getting the rest of the Dragon Balls by Krillin and Gohan, when they were inches away from him)
** And let's not forget [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmELlqjR5Ao this gem:]]
*** ''"I'M RECOOOOME!!"''
*** ''"BURTERRRRRR!!"''
*** ''"OI! JEICE!!"''
*** ''"GULDOOOO!!"''
*** ''"CAPTAAIN GINYUUU!!!"''
*** ''"[[QuirkyMinibossSquad NOW YOU SEE THE POWER... OF THE GINYU FORCE!!!]]"''
** ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' gives us Fused Zamasu's epic "'''''SON! GOKU!'''''" after he Saiyan gets in a good hit on him.
* ''Manga/DeathNote'': '''''MATSUDA, [[GambitPileup YOU IDIOOOOOOOOT!!!]]'''''
* ''Anime/MermaidMelodyPichiPichiPitch'' blows the pants off this trope in the last episodes of the first season.
--> '''LUCHIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA'''
* Done for comedic effect in episode 4 of ''Anime/LupinIIITheWomanCalledFujikoMine'', when Oscar comes across Zenigata unconscious and covered in blood. Lupin had just sprayed fake blood all over the Inspector, and Oscar had inadvertently knocked him out by coming out of the trapdoor ''just'' as Lupin escaped.
* Haruka of ''Manga/KotouraSan'' does this during the DownerBeginning in the GrayRainOfDepression when [[spoiler:the mean old lady sends the stray cat to an animal shelter (effectively a death sentence in Japan)]]. Made even more poignant since the scene itself becomes silent as the GriefSong swells over.
* ''Franchise/KagerouProject'': One of these is performed by [[spoiler:Marry]], when [[spoiler:[[GroundhogDayLoop the Snake of Clearing Eyes kills all of her friends at the end of each timeloop]]]]. They're usually drowned out by the background music, but that somehow makes it even more disturbing.
* This trope (combined with SayMyName and IWillFindYou) seems to be a recurring theme in ''Franchise/YuGiOh'', as it's been done by [[Anime/YuGiOh every]] [[Anime/YuGiOhGX single]] [[Anime/YuGiOh5ds main]] [[Anime/YuGiOhZexal character]] [[Anime/YuGiOhArcV in the]] [[http://eliaspsuedo.tumblr.com/post/116286887268/yuzu-astral-bruno-johan-and-yugi-yes-the franchise]] (spoilers in the link!).
* Katsuhira at the end of Episode 10 of ''Anime/{{Kiznaiver}}'', [[spoiler: upon meeting the old Kiznaivers in the worst situation.]]
* Munakata in ''Anime/Danganronpa3TheEndOfHopesPeakHighSchool'' in Episode 10 of the Future Arc, [[spoiler: upon realizing that Yukizome was EvilAllAlong.]]
* Riku does this in ''Anime/GundamBuildDivers'' when he finds out that [[spoiler: Sarah has surrendered herself to his idol Kyoya.]]
* At the end of ''Anime/TenchiMuyo: Mihoshi's Space Police Adventure'', we see Kiyone stranded in space at the very end and ends the special by screaming out that she's going to murder her.
* In ''Anime/SakuraWarsTheAnimation'', Hatsuho screams "Damn it all!" after her Mugen gets seriously damaged by the demon at the end of "Tokyo Trembles! The New Moscow Combat Revue!".
* In episode 21b of ''Anime/{{Tamagotchi}}'', the cavity Tamagotchi inside Mametchi's mouth considers inviting his mother to come live with him since he thinks she'd like how comfy Mametchi's tooth is. After Mametchi imagines his cavity becoming bigger after the cavity Tamagotchi is visited by his mother and grandkids, ends up married and with his own kid, and eventually an entire cavity neighborhood forming, Mametchi looks to the sky and screams "OH NO, IT CAN'T BE!"
* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'': Having completed 10 months worth of TrainingFromHell and having cleaned a whole beach worth of rubbish, protagonist Izuku Midoriya stands atop the pile and lets out some very war-like screams with his head held high.
* ''Literature/FateZero'': Kiritsugu lets out a heartbreaking one after [[spoiler: he is forced to shoot down Natalia's plane]].
--> '''Kiritsugu''': ''Shut your mouth! Just shut up!'' '''''BASTARD!'''''
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureBattleTendency'': '''''SHIIIIIIIIIZAAAAAAAAAAAA!'''''. Subject to MemeticMutation.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Asian Animation]]
* ''Animation/{{Akis}}'': In "Why Oh Why", the woman in a TV show Akis' family is watching screams a BigWhy up to the sky.
* ''Animation/HappyHeroes'':
** In Season 8 episode 1, Big M. screams "I HATE YOU, HAPPY SUPERMAN!" when he's informed that his monsters can't get past Planet Xing's Blue-Ray Defense System.

* In ''Animation/PleasantGoatAndBigBigWolf: Joys of Seasons'' episode 16, Wolffy does a skyward scream of "OH, MY DEAR COMFORT ROBOT!!!" after he tries and fails to find his comfort robot.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/CartoonNetworkBlockParty'':

** The Professor does this as well in "The Trouble With Bubbles" (regular issue #18) when after Bubbles runs away from home he finds her goodbye note.
* ''ComicBook/CerebusTheAardvark'':
-->"CLAREMONT!!!!!!!!!"
* ''ComicBook/FantasticFour'': ComicBook/DoctorDoom does this constantly when someone brings Mr. Fantastic up:

* ''ComicBook/StrangersInParadise'': This [[http://comicbookdb.com/graphics/comic_graphics/1/3/1157_20050923163623_large.jpg cover]].
* ''ComicBook/{{Superman}}'':
** ''ComicBook/ForTheManWhoHasEverything'': Superman does this after being told who sent the [[LotusEaterMachine Black Mercy]] to him.
---> '''Superman:''' '''MONGUL!'''
** He also does this in ''ComicBook/KingdomCome'' after [[spoiler: a nuke -apparently- wipes all metahumans out.]]
** In ''ComicBook/KryptonNoMore'', Superman does this -combined with shaking his closed fist heavenwards- when he screams that he will not let Earth die.
--->'''Superman:''' Hear me, world! I won't let you commit planetary suicide! I swear I won't let you die — I swear it!!
* ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'':
** In ''ComicBook/NewKrypton'' story arc, [[http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pScx8BN4h3s/SV4bwfO2ZII/AAAAAAAACNE/D_m8YgJullM/s1600-h/sg+36+-05.jpg Kara does this when her father gets murdered]].
** In the storyline ''ComicBook/RedDaughterOfKrypton'', Supergirl threw her head back and screamed when one of her teammates said her [[ComicBook/GreenLantern Red Lantern Ring]] was bonded with her forever.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* In ''Fanfic/AceCombatTheEquestrianWar'', [[TheHeroine Rainbow Dash]] unleashes a chilling scream by the end of chapter 11, reason being [[spoiler: Gilda betraying her trust and breaking Medley's wings]].
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'': In chapter 3, when Shinji decided that he would rescue Asuka, not matter what, his Evangelion Unit-01 threw back its head and '''roared'''.
* Two for the price of one during ''The Bloodstained Alliance'' in ''Fanfic/CodeGeassPaladinsOfVoltron'' [[spoiler:after Euphie gets shot by Nebiros:]]
** Cornelia gives a scream of [[spoiler:[=EUPHIE=]]].
** Suzaku gives a BigNo.
* ''Manga/Evangelion303'': In chapter 12, while she is breaking down completely, Asuka screams she can't take it anymore and she hates everybody before throwing back her head and yelling: "AND I HATE MYSELF!!"
* Blackjack gets a great one in ''Fanfic/FalloutEquestriaProjectHorizons'' at the end of a HeroicRROD.
''Fanfic/JohannaMasonTheyWillNeverSeeMeCry'': Chaff storms onto the roof to scream loudly at the skyline and hit stuff in a rage near the end of the 74th Hunger Games, causing a nearby Johanna to solemnly and correctly guess that Thresh has just fallen in battle to Cato.
* Subverted in ''Fanfic/ThousandShinji''. When Shinji [[spoiler:found out the truth behind his mother's death,]] he threw back his head, and he screamed. But his shout sounded in the [[SubspaceOrHyperspace Warp]], not in the physical world.
-->Shinji threw his head back and opened his mouth to scream, but no sound came out in the physical world.
* In ''Fanfic/APrizeForThreeEmpires'', [[Characters/MarvelComicsCarolDanvers Carol Danvers]] lets a long, loud scream out when Marcus dies and his mind-control upon her disappears.
* ''WebAnimation/TurnaboutStorm'': [[OriginalCharacter Cruise Control]] pulls several of these off, most accompanied by a BigNo. It's all PlayedForLaughs, as he uses them to chastise himself [[ComicalOverreacting for committing petty mistakes]].
* In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C7Ys_hhHCA&feature=youtu.be "The Doctor Games"]], this is the Eleventh Doctor's reaction to Four killing Ten.
-->"FOOUURRR!"

* ''Fanfic/YouAreNotAtFault'': As he is lying face up on the shore after the end of the world, Shinji comes to the realization that he has committed the greatest genocide in History. Horrified, he screams.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films — Animated]]
* The beginning of ''ComicBook/{{Asterix}} and the Vikings'', when Timandahaf realizes that village his crew are sacking is empty.
-->"Hello...? Anyone home...? By Thor... '''WHHHHYYYYY!?'''"
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBookOfLife'':
** As Manolo holds [[spoiler: Maria's seemingly-dead body, he gives off a terrifically anguished one.]]
** La Muerte lets loose a truly epic one when she finds out [[spoiler: that Xibalba cheated to win their bet]]. Just before she screams, Candlemaker warns the Sanchezes, [[LampshadeHanging "You might wanna cover your ears right now."]]
--->'''La Muerte:''' '''''[[SayMyName XIIIIIIIIBAAAAALLLLLLLBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!]]'''''\
'''Xibalba:''' ''(appearing behind her with wineglasses)'' [[ComicallyMissingThePoint Yes, my dear?]]
* ''WesternAnimation/BrotherBear'': When Kenai first realizes he's been turned into a bear, he screams so loudly it can be heard from ''miles'' away.
* ''WesternAnimation/DaffyDucksQuackbusters'' ends on one of these when J.P. Cubish, after already taking away every last bit of his inheritance from WesternAnimation/DaffyDuck from beyond the grave, also [[YankTheDogsChain takes away Daffy's first honestly-earned dollar]], with the implication that he will be doing this to Daffy forever.
-->'''Daffy:''' '''''CUUUUUUUUUBIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!'''''
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddysBigPictureShow'': The character Kevin on the ten-year Cartoon Network classic was renowned for calling the three titular stooges out as being dorks. With the other cul-de-sac kids, save for Sarah and Jimmy trying to rip the Eds open at the playground, it make sense that when the Eds fly away in their car [[spoiler: thanks to Double D's quick thinking]] that Kevin invokes the trope, screaming [[spoiler: "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORKS!"]] with a pole in his hand, angrily tossing aforementioned pole and its dirt anchorage into the ground ahead of him.
* ''WesternAnimation/Frozen2013'': HERE I STAND AND HERE I'LL STAY!!!! All while the camera comes up and spins.
%%* [[WesternAnimation/JungledyretHugo RIIIIIIIIIIITAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls'', Twilight Sparkle does this on finding [[HumanityEnsues she's been turned into a human]], coupled with a TwistedKneeCollapse.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/OverTheHedge'': There's a parody of the ''Film/AStreetcarNamedDesire'' example.
* In ''WesternAnimation/PoohsHeffalumpMovie'', Piglet does this when Pooh eats the jellybeans he left on the ground to find their way back.

-->'''King Nod:''' MY KINGDOM WILL COME TO DESTRUCTION AND '''DEEEEAAAAATH!'''
* ''WesternAnimation/TurningRed'': Meilin Lee does one when she loses control of her anger and embarrassment and transforms into her red panda form during math class. It really shows just how far over the edge she's been driven by [[AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents her mother's actions]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films — Live-Action]]
* ''Film/DonnieDarko'': [[Creator/DrewBarrymore Miss Pomeroy]] does this after being unfairly sacked from her job. Doubles as an AtomicFBomb.
* Done by Aragorn in ''Film/TheLordOfTheRingsTheTwoTowers''. In a rare [[ThrowItIn unscripted version]], where Viggo Mortenson broke his foot on the helmet he kicked, eliciting a cry of real ''physical'' pain that fit the scene well enough that Peter Jackson kept it in.
* ''Film/{{Flash Gordon|1980}}'': '''[[Creator/BrianBlessed GORDON'S ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!]]''' is sometimes misremembered as an example. In fact, the line was delivered with restraint by Creator/BrianBlessed's standards. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFnmT82yGpk See it here]].
* ''Franchise/StarTrek'':
** For some reason, people think that Kirk screaming "KHAAAAAAN!" in ''[[Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan Star Trek II]]'' was [[BeamMeUpScotty like this]]. It wasn't (it's a close-up of Kirk's face if you're wondering, cutting to a long shot of the moon he's on/in), but parodies of it do this. The misconception is prevalent enough that this trope was formerly '''named''' The Khan despite '''The''' "KHAAAAAAN!" not actually being an example.
*** The "KHAAAAAAN!" in ''Film/StarTrekIntoDarkness'' is an example of it, however.
** ''Film/StarTrek2009'' has an actual example of this trope, though - Nero screaming "SPOOOOOOOOOOOCK!" during his VillainousBreakdown. This interrupts Nero beating the stuffing out of Alternate-Kirk, who sits up with a faint glimmer of recognition as Nero launches into it.
* One does this in ''Film/TheCityOfLostChildren''.
* John Belushi's character screaming after the beer bar is taken away in ''Film/AnimalHouse''.
* Iconic movie example: In the film adaptation of ''Film/AStreetcarNamedDesire'', just after realizing the error of his ways, Stanley Kowalski (Marlon Brando) screams out in the rain. The "STELLA! STELL-LLAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" is done with this camera angle and has become one of the most famous one-word lines in movie history.
* ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanDeadMansChest'': "Damn you, Jack... SSSPARRROOOWWWWW!!!!" complete with the pullaway camera angle from above (and Davy Jones spraying seawater).
* Performed by Cindy (Anna Faris's character) at the end of every one of the ''Film/ScaryMovie'' series, although usually punctuated by her [[LookBothWays being run over]].
* Bartleby does this near the end of ''Film/{{Dogma}}'' while laughing maniacally.
* In Baz Luhrmann's ''Film/WilliamShakespearesRomeoAndJuliet'', the line "I am... FORTUNE'S FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!" gets this treatment.
* "WILLIAAAAAMMM!" William Thatcher also does this, screaming his own name, at the end of ''Film/AKnightsTale''. Not quite skyward, though.
* Parodied in the movie ''Film/CharliesAngels2000'' with Matt Leblanc howling "DAMN YOU, SALAZAAAR!" at the soaring camera while his girlfriend lies dead in his arms. [[spoiler:And then we find out they're shooting [[ShowWithinAShow a movie within the movie]].]]
** [[spoiler: Don't forget that the scene takes place at the end of a montage showing the romantic B-plots of the other two angels, furthering the assumption that the girlfriend is Lucy Liu.]]
* ''Film/FerrisBuellersDayOff'' combines it with DistantReactionShot.
* ''Film/KindergartenCop'' has Detective John Kimbell doing it to vent his excess frustration after all the kids drive him nuts.
* The ''Film/MyFavoriteMartian'' [[TheMovie movie]] does a variant of this, as it is executed during [[BigBad Elliot Coleye's]] EvilLaugh at the height of [[spoiler:his OneWingedAngel act (initiated by one of the Martians' "nerplex")]].
* ''Film/PlanetOfTheApes1968'': '''''YOU MANIACS!!! YOU BLEW IT UP!!! AH, DAMN YOU!!! GOD DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!"'''''

** This was done ''three times'' in ''Film/XMenOriginsWolverine''.
** ''Film/XMenFirstClass'': Xavier does this right after [[spoiler:a bullet enters his spine]].
** ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast'': Blink lets out a small cry towards the heavens after [[spoiler:being stabbed by three Sentinels]].
** ''Film/XMenApocalypse'': Magneto, whose powers have been boosted by Apocalypse, does this as he disintegrates the Auschwitz concentration camp.
* ''Film/{{Thor}}'': After the CurbStompBattle in the S.H.I.E.L.D. complex, Thor realizes that he cannot reclaim Mjölnir, which leads to a HeroicBSOD.
* ''Film/{{Braveheart}}'': FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
* In ''Film/DetroitRockCity'', school security mook Elvis does this when the boys cross the school property line and leave the range of his powers.
* ''[[Film/RevengeOfTheSith Star Wars Episode III]]'': Upon hearing news of the [[spoiler: death of his wife]], Darth Vader proclaims to the sky, "'''[[BigNo NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!]]'''"
** Source of internet meme the "Nooo-lercoaster"
** [[TranslationTrainWreck Translation]]: [[RecursiveTranslation DO NOT WANT!]]
* At the end of the TrainingMontage in ''Film/RockyIV'', Rocky on top of a mountain and yelling, [[SayMyName "DRAGOOOOOOOOOOO!"]]
* The end of ''Film/TheMist'' features this from the main character; Might be more of a BigNo.
* Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt in ''Film/IKnowWhatYouDidLastSummer'' screaming: "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOOORRRR?!?!?!?!
* ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1990'': "'''DAAAAAAAMN!!!'''"
** And after that, Raphael (who also did the aforementioned scream) screams out in anguish when he and the other Turtles find their lair trashed and Splinter missing.
** Later in the movie: [[SayMyName "SPLINTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!"]]
* ''Film/RainMan'': '''''SON OF A BITCH!!!'''''
* In ''Film/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallowsPart2'', [[spoiler:Voldemort does this in his death scene. The effect of the rebounding death curse starts to disintegrate him, and he lets out a last, haunting scream as he turns to the sky and breaks up into nothing.]]
* Ivan's reaction to his father's death in ''Film/IronMan2''.
* ''Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet4TheDreamMaster''. After Kincaid witnesses Freddy's resurrection in the car graveyard dream, he tries to escape but is then cornered. He screams towards the sky, trying to signal his friends that Freddy is back, as the camera pans out to reveal that the graveyard covers the whole planet.
* ''Film/SpiderMan2'': "I WANT SPIDER-MAN!" roars J. Jonah Jameson after Spider-Man steals his suit back from the ''Bugle'' editor-in-chief.
* ''Film/TheShawshankRedemption'': Andy in the rain [[spoiler: after his escape]], laughing more than screaming.
* In ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad'', Furiosa after [[spoiler:she learns that the Green Place, her birthplace from when she was a little girl, turned into a horrid poisonous swamp]] performs a version of this where she drops [[ArtificialLimbs her arm]] in the sand, falls down to her knees and basically loses her shit.
* ''Film/DeadInTombstone'': What [[spoiler:Red]] does as Satan brands him, marking the beginning of [[spoiler:Red]]'s eternity of suffering.
--> [[spoiler: '''Red:''']] '''''GUERRRERROOOOOO!!!'''''
* Goodspeed does this at the end of ''Film/TheRock'' when after launching the flares, one of the pilots accidentally fires one of their missiles.
* A heartwrenching one in ''Film/SupermanTheMovie'' when the Man of Steel finds Lois' corpse. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxF3kNmJ7tk For added "skyward", Superman rockets off into the sky as he screams.]]
* ''Film/JohnnyMnemonic'': '''''[[PunctuatedForEmphasis I WANT! ROOM! SERVICE!!!]]'''''

!!!'''Creators:'''
* Along those same lines, who can forget Conan O'Brien's tortured scream... ''"BOOOLLTEEEENN!"''
** And again, when he realizes he [[UnrequitedLove cannot have]] Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. ''"STAAAAUGH-MOS!"''
!!!'''Series:'''
* ''Series/ThirtyRock'': "I GAVE MY WHOLE LIFE TO PORN! AND HE DOES IT IN ONE DAY! [[PunctuatedForEmphasis ONE!! DAY!!!"]]
* ''Series/AvatarTheLastAirbender2024:'' During a fight between Aang and Zuko, one merchant's wares get caught in the crossfire, and he is quite upset about it.
-->"''MY CABBAAAAAAAGES!''"
* Used in an episode of ''Series/TheBigBangTheory''. After realizing that Creator/WilWheaton tricked him into losing a card game, Sheldon screams "WHEATON!" as the camera zooms out. A somewhat odd example, in that the moment [[ShownTheirWork resembles the actual scene from The Wrath of Khan instead of the Beam Me Up Scotty version.]]
* ''Series/BoyMeetsWorld'' has Cory scream this way when he suffers from a ''very bad hairdo''. Worse for him is the fact that he still has to go to school that day -- without being permitted to wear a hat inside the school building.
* The ''Series/BroadCity'' episode "Working Girls" has three examples: Ilana when she thinks the dog she was supposed to walk is dead, then Bevers when Abbi kicks his rotisserie chicken, then a dog owner when he realizes Ilana took his dog to the wrong address.
* Like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert of ''Series/TheColbertReport'' also has engaged in this trope occasionally. ("MANILOWWWWWW!!!")
** Also "RAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIINNNNN!!!"
*** "BENNEEEEEEEETT!!!"
*** "RICKLLLLLLLLLES!!!"
*** "Vigoda?"
* Jon Stewart does this a ''lot'' on ''Series/TheDailyShow'', and was especially gratified when the [[http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=111992&title=the-wrath-of-khan scientist found to be supplying rogue regimes with nuclear technology was actually named A.Q. Khan]]. They once even subverted/[[http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=149372&title=9/11-earwig failed to do the shot]].
-->"How does a glissando make sense there? Am I introducing a toaster?"
** A great recent example was Stewart switching bodies with Music/JustinBieber. When they switched back, Bieber told Stewart, "Hope you don't mind the new tattoo."
--->'''Stewart:''' Did he say something about a tattoo? And why is my ass sore? *cut to screencap of Stewart's tattoo* '#neversaynever'?! *cut back to Stewart* BIEBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!
* ''Series/TheDevilJudge'': Ga-on does this after learning Young-choon escaped prison thanks to the corrupt system.
* Done twice on ''Series/{{Dexter}}'', both involving the [[spoiler:serial-killers-o'-the-season]]: in season three there's a "MIGUEEEEEELL!", complete with room-smashing [[spoiler:although it was revealed he was just imagining how he'd like to react]], and in season four, after [[spoiler:the Trinity Killer evades his clutches once again]], "ARRTHURRRR!"
* ''Series/DoctorWho'':
** The Doctor has done this on occasion.
*** [[Recap/DoctorWhoTVMTheTVMovie "WHOOO.... AM.... IIIIIIIIIII?!?!"]]
*** [[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E17E18TheEndOfTime "GERONIMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"]]

* ''[[Series/TheFlash2014 The Flash]]'' did this unironically when he discovered Zoom's [[BigBrotherMentor secret]] [[BitchInSheepsClothing identity]].
* ''Series/ForeverKnight''. In "The Human Factor", Janette gives a skyward BigNo after her human lover is murdered, and she discovers she's become mortal and so can't turn him into a vampire to save him. Later when Janette herself is murdered (refusing to be turned herself), Nick vamps out and does a skyward roar of rage.
* ''Series/GameOfThrones'': Irri does this after Rakharo's death, though not in the typical bird's eye view manner.
** ''Series/HouseOfTheDragon'': Rhaenys Velaryon lets out a howl of anguish when she discovers what she believes to be the corpse of her son Laenor.
* ''Series/{{Gotham}}'' features one in the first few minutes of the pilot from a young [[Franchise/{{Batman}} Bruce Wayne]] after he and his parents are confronted by a mugger in a dark alley and...well, [[ItWasHisSled you know the rest.]]
* Duncan does this once in ''Series/{{Highlander}}: The Series'', when he screams [[spoiler: Darius]]'s name after finding his dead body.
* Used in ''Series/IShouldntBeAlive'', to emphasize a stranded survivor's isolation as they yell for help and the camera zooms out to show they're alone in the midst of hostile terrain.
* ''Series/KingdomHospital'': "THERE WILL BE REPRISALS FOR THIS! REPRISAAAAAAALS!"
* ''Series/TheLegendOfWilliamTell'' Will finds himself brooding over his parents' death for no apparent reason.
-->'''Will:''' They will be ''AVEEEEEEEENNNNNGGGGGEEEEEEEDDDDDDD!''
* ''Series/LegendsOfTomorrow'': Nate's beloved scooter is destroyed by Genghis ''Khan'' [cue ShoutOut to ''Franchise/StarTrek''].
* In the classic "Dreams" episode of ''Series/{{MASH}}'', each main character's nap is disturbed by nightmares. Hawkeye's ends with him [[spoiler: staring helplessly at a bleeding Korean girl, armless, as a patient-loaded helicopter flies low overhead,]] ending with a bloodcurdling [[BigNo No]].
* ''Series/{{Merlin|2008}}'' screams desperately for help from [[spoiler: the Great Dragon]] when [[spoiler: Arthur is dying]] in the GrandFinale.
* In the pilot episode of ''Series/MrShow'', the sketch about Ronnie Dobbs features Terry taking this up a notch in the death scene of Ronnie's biopic. Allegedly the scream went on for two hours, although we don't get to hear most of it, mercifully.
* In ''Series/OhsamaSentaiKingOhger'', this is Rita Kaniska’s go-to reaction if they [[RunningGag get overly frustrated by something]].
* ''Series/Preacher2016'' recreates the [[MemeticMutation infamous montage]] featured in the [[ComicBook/{{Preacher}} comic]] of Herr Starr trying different wigs to cover his head after it got carved "into the image of a big fat gleaming DONG!". At some point, Starr's assistant [[MinionWithAnFInEvil Hoover]] thinks his boss put the wig backguards. Then he realizes it ''was'' the right way. Starr finally [[RageBreakingPoint snaps]] tossing the wig into the floor while screaming "SON OF A WHORING [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch BIIIIIIIIIITCH!!!"]] with the camera panning out all the way to ''space''.
* ''Series/PrincessAgents'': Yan Xun screams "Mother!" at the sky after Bai Sheng's suicide.
* In the TV movie finale of ''Series/PrisonBreak'', T-Bag does this. "SCOOFIEEELD! SCOOOOOOOOOFIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELD!"
* ''Series/{{Riget}}:'' The Swedish doctor Helmer declares his hatred for his Danish colleagues and Denmark in general OncePerEpisode in the first season this way:
-->"Dansk... ''jävlar''... DANSK''JÄVLAR''!!!" (Danish scum)
* ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' parodied this three times. The first time was George yelling "KHAAAAAAN!" after realizing his life must be dedicated to the Susan Ross foundation.[[note]]This is just after Jerry told how he had inspired Susan's parents to start the foundation with a line from ''Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan''.[[/note]] The second time was Elaine yelling "SUUUUUUUUUUZIE!" after realizing her life must be dedicated to the Susie foundation, a fake character she initially made up to avoid troubles and later "killed" her to avoid exposure. The third time was George screaming "TWIIIIIIIIIX!!" after people ate up his candy lineup, which he set up to catch his candy's thief in a car dealership.
* Wade in the first season finale of ''Series/{{Sliders}}'': NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
* ''Series/{{Smallville}}'':
** "[[Recap/SmallvilleS01E03Hothead Hothead]]" ends with Clark and Lana screaming up at the sky to vent their frustrations.
** In "[[Recap/SmallvilleS01E06Hourglass Hourglass]]", Clark lets one out during a vision of seeing all his loved ones dead.
** Lex does one at the end of "[[Recap/SmallvilleS07E10Persona Persona]]" after [[spoiler:his hired assassin informs him of successfully murdering Grant Gabriel, a clone that he created of his dead younger brother Julian, who turned his back on him for Lionel.]] This normally would have counted as his MoralEventHorizon, but because of the grief and regret that he showed by doing this, he was still considered at least a little sympathetic among most fans.
* The Klingon death ritual first seen in ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration'' invokes this, roaring into the sky to warn the afterlife that a Klingon warrior is on their way.
* In ''Series/That70sShow'', Red combines this with an AtomicFBomb after being guilt tripped into taking Hyde in.
* Parodied in an episode of ''Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway?'' During a game of Weird Newswcasters (in which the comedians had to portray certain characters while being in a newscast), Ryan (the weatherman) was assigned a character of a self-centered actor about to give his "Oscar-worthy performance". Ryan finished off his bit with his character bellowing his last line as he looked up towards an overhead camera--while ''he'' spun instead of the camera. The audience burst out into applause at the end. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOCJcFy6QsQ View the whole game here (Ryan's performance starts at around 2:40)]]
* ''Series/XenaWarriorPrincess'' featured this once, with Xena, in "The Ring".
-->'''Xena:''' ... who am I? WHO AM I?!?!
* ''Series/TheXFiles'': "[[TitleDrop This is not happening]]! [[BigNo NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!]]"

* The music video for Music/MarianasTrench's "Shake Tramp". Completely [[LargeHam hammed up]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Podcasts]]
* [[spoiler: Eiffel]] has an absolutely [[TearJerker heartbreaking]] one in the ''Podcast/Wolf359''-episode ''"Mayday"''. 296--> ''He shuts off the receiver. For the first time since the explosion things are silent.\

And then [[spoiler: Eiffel]] screams.\
It's pure, unadulterated rage. Bitterness. Indignation. After everything - ''everything'' - that he's been through, '''''this''''' is where he ends up?!?\
Finally, slowly, the scream stops. And, aside from [[spoiler: Eiffel]] hyperventilating, everything is silent again. ''

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Played for laughs in ''VideoGame/{{Afterparty}}'': when Milo and Lola end up in hell Milo combines this with InelegantBlubbering, with an extra FunnyBackgroundEvent of a skyscraper-sized demon seeing him, rolling his eyes and walking away.
* Used by the Joker in ''VideoGame/MortalKombatVsDCUniverse'''s DC story mode after [[ComicBook/{{Shazam}} Captain Marvel]] tells ComicBook/{{Superman}} and the four DC villains the name of the OriginalGeneration BigBad (Dark Kahn, a merger of DC's Darkseid and MK's Shao Kahn). Though the camera is above him, it cuts [[RuleOfThree thrice]], each one more distanced from him (and echoing his voice) rather than pulling away smoothly. Then Deathstroke tells him to shut up.
--> '''Joker:''' [[Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!]]
* ''VideoGame/StarOceanTillTheEndOfTime'': The first major turning point ends with Fayt screaming "WHAT THE HELL AM I!?!?!"
* ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy'' has a happy example, for a change: [[spoiler: "WELCOME! WELCOME NEW GAAAAAALLAAAAAAXXXYYYYYY!!!"]]
* ''VideoGame/WarcraftIIIReignOfChaos'': In the scene when [[spoiler: Grom Hellscream kills Mannoroth]] there are some pretty dramatic screams, that however being wordless don't quite qualify as [[BigNo Big Nos]], and at the end of the scene, following [[spoiler: Grom's death]], a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luuUE0x7-TY very powerful Khan Scream]].

** In Case 4 of ''VisualNovel/ApolloJusticeAceAttorney'', when [[spoiler:Kristoph Gavin]] realizes that he's been ultimately outdone, he screams: "WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT"
** [[spoiler:Quercus Alba]] when he starts screaming Edgeworth's name so forcefully, he can't even finish the name before continuing into high pitched shrieking. He even gets ''fireworks'' in his scream!
* In ''VideoGame/DefJamFightForNY'', every fighter does this when the player hits the blazin control stick once their special fills up.
* ''VideoGame/Yakuza3'': [[spoiler:"RIKIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!"]]
* Haseo from the ''VideoGame/DotHackGU'' games whenever he unleashes his hidden powers.

* ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'':
** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV DS'', during the disaster at Mist, Cecil does a textbook one.
---> '''Kain:''' "He wished this village ''torched!''"\

** At the end of ''[[VideoGame/CrisisCore Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII]]'', [[spoiler:Cloud, after Zack's death.]]
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'': HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYY! (Tidus, realizing that he's stranded and alone in Spira. The camera even pans upward as he yells.)

Roxas's anger, despair, and frustration reaches a boiling point there, and he just screams]].
** Roxas does this again in ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts358DaysOver2'' when his best friends are [[spoiler:attacking each other]], screaming, "STOP!" Xion does. Axel doesn't.
** Ventus in ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsBirthBySleep'' when he arrives at the [[WesternAnimation/{{Cinderella}} Castle of Dreams]]: Somebody tell me how I got so SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLL???!!!
* ''VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou'': [[spoiler: At the end, after Neku learns that Joshua is the one who killed him, and then waking up at the Scramble Crossing after being shot again by Joshua, he can only cry out a confused:]]
--> Why... WHAT THE HELL?!?
* ''VideoGame/HenryStickminSeries'': '''''HEENRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!'''''

* ''VideoGame/{{Xenosaga}}'': '''''UZUUUUUUUKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!'''''
* ''VideoGame/LiveALive'': Near the end of the Imperial China chapter, after defeating Ou Di Wan Lee, the Earthern Heart Shifu passes away, and the disciple screams "Master!/SHIFU!!".
* The ending(s) of the original ''VideoGame/{{Diablo}}'', after the PlayerCharacter [[spoiler: jams Diablo's soulstone into their own forehead.]]

* Iori lets out one in the anime opening of Dreamcast-only ''[[VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters The King of Fighters 1999 Dream Match]]''. We don't hear his voice, but the image is there.
* In ''VideoGame/{{Overblood}}'', Raz shouts [[spoiler: Pipo's name like this when he "dies" (he is a robot)]].
%%* ''VideoGame/HeavyRain'': SHAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUN!!
* Garlot of ''VideoGame/BlazeUnion'' is prone enough to doing this (sans corny camerawork) that the game developers saw fit to give him an ''actual dialogue portrait'' devoted to passionate yelling.
* ''VideoGame/DeadRising'': At the end of Overtime Mode, [[spoiler:[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKwvdIDq3Ck#t=3m11s Frank belts out a fantastic scream, complete with camera pan and spin.]] ]]
* The ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'' RPG characters are known to do this when performing their signature LimitBreak attacks.
** In ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia'', Genis does this when [[spoiler:he and Lloyd realize the monster they just killed was actually his friend Marble.]]
** In ''VideoGame/TalesOfInnocence'', when Luca finds out who caused the Fall of Devaloka, he summons this trope - camerawork and everything - to curse him for all the suffering it has caused.
* In ''VideoGame/TimeSplittersFuturePerfect'', Sergeant Cortez lets out a furious 'Urgh... Gawd-DAAAAAAAMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!' after unwittingly giving the Big Bad the details of his plot. This takes place in the middle of the 21st century, but the skyward scream is so intense, it echoes through time, being heard by ally Harry Tipper in 1970, and a man implied to be Tipper's elderly son. Bonus points for the implication that Tipper is at the point of conceiving said son.
* ''VideoGame/GoldenSunDarkDawn'' wrings a BigNo from [[spoiler: Eoleo]] this way during the [[spoiler: Grave Eclipse, when his father dies of monster-inflicted wounds.]]
* ''VideoGame/SengokuBasara'': Ieyasu...I will...KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILL YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!!!!

* ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1''. [[spoiler:"FIOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"]]
* ''VideoGame/AsurasWrath'': Asura gets in on this one a few times, though it's actually rather rare that we see him doing so. His SkywardScream for his wife is a single howl of rage and grief, though he does scream his daughter Mithra's name out as he goes to rescue her. [[spoiler: However, when a human girl who looks like Mithra dies in front of him, he has a long moment where he seems like he can't breathe OR scream, and then the overhead view of the trope comes into play and very bad things happen to very bad people.]]
%%* ''VideoGame/FableIII'': BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALS!
* In ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'', this gets PlayedForLaughs in the ''Mark of the Assassin DLC'', where Hawke's idea of finding a way past the Chateau guards, involves taking a massive [[ChewingTheScenery bite out of the scenery]] whilst pretending to be a [[UpperClassTwit foppish noble]], stung by a bee.
--> '''Hawke''': If I die, makes sure world knows... *''Falls to their knees''* I DIED AT CHATEAU-HAINE!
* [[WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers Brock]] lets out a real primal one in ''VideoGame/PokerNight2'' if he loses with a strong hand.
* Zero does this in ''VideoGame/MegaManX4'' when [[spoiler: Iris dies.]]
--> '''Zero''': "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRR?!"
* Travis does this several times in ''VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes2DesperateStruggle'', most notably after defeating Ryuji in a duel and [[spoiler:after killing the penultimate boss, Alice.]]

* Dante from ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry1'' also does this when [[spoiler: Trish seemingly dies.]]

--> '''Infinite''': I... I'm shaking... Me!? Me... Afraid...!? Urgh. Pathetic!? Me... he's calling ME weak!? No! I am not weak! I'm... I'm not. I'm not weak! I AM NOT WEEEEAAAAAAK! URRRAAAAAAAAAAAGHH!
** Princess Elise from ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'' gives a BigNo variant of this trope [[spoiler:after Sonic is struck down in front of her]].
* ''VideoGame/ShadowOfRome'' is a cult classic remembered mainly for two things: the copious amounts of VideoGameCrueltyPotential, and a hilarious scene that apes the famous "Are you not entertained!?" scene from the film ''Film/{{Gladiator}}'' and culminates in the protagonist loudly screaming "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMNNN!" to the sky, which is meant to be serious but comes across as complete {{Narm}}.
* In a flashback in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel IV'', it is revealed that [[spoiler:after finding out who is the true culprit of what's been going on in [[TheEmpire Erebonia]], Osborne has to scream Ishmelga's name before accepting his [[DealWithTheDevil deal in order to save]] [[TheHero his son's life]] because Rean as a kid was heavily impaled by a large wooden splinter from his house.]]
* A tragic example in ''VideoGame/DarkestDungeon'': If one of your party members has [[spoiler:the trinket "Mildred's Locket" equipped]] during the fight with the Miller in the DLC ''The Colour of Madness'', the Miller gains a new attack, "Immortal Beloved". This "attack" consists of the Miller dropping his scythe, falling to his knees, and screaming at the heavens. It reduces your party's Stress gain and temporarily strips the Miller of his high defenses.
* Desmond from ''VideoGame/DevilsHunt'' does this after killing the second demon boss (his first chronological kill as a demon-human hybrid). His eyes emit a [[GlowingEyesOfDoom golden-yellow glow]] as he howls, an indicator of his evil side's emergence
* ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'' GameMod ''VideoGame/VSWhitty'' features the titular Whitty being pushed for one too many rap battles by The Boyfriend, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu1WfdA5GoE leading to him crushing his microphone and screaming in pure rage]]. He is ''so'' angry that reality starts breaking down around him.
* The final BossRush of ''VideoGame/PizzaTower'' starts with our hero Peppino Spaghetti screaming, as he has many times before [[NervousWreck due to his anxiety about boss fights]]. The difference is that ''this'' time, he screams into the heavens in [[UnstoppableRage pure Italian rage]], signaling [[RageBreakingPoint just how completely]] ''[[RageBreakingPoint done]]'' [[RageBreakingPoint he is with the nonsense]] he has had to endure ascending the tower. This is followed by [[ExtremeMeleeRevenge a brutal bare knuckled beatdown]] as Peppino gets to vent his pent-up anger at some thoroughly unprepared boss rematches.
* Aaa from ''VideoGame/FreedomPlanet2'' has a tendency of screaming out "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!", though no one knows for sure if that is his real name or just a nickname.

* The Safe ending of ''VisualNovel/NineHoursNinePersonsNineDoors'' has Ace ("[[spoiler: ZEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOO!!!]]") and Junpei ("[[spoiler:KANNNNNYYYYY!!!]]") doing this. The former happens when Ace [[spoiler:is trapped in the incinerator by Zero and burns alive]]. The latter happens when Junpei [[spoiler:comes back to the chapel and doesn't find Akane's dying body, which disappeared in the brief lapse of time in which Junpei had left her to look for Zero]].
