* The 21st Century insurance company has a commercial with a mass of shopping carts being dropped onto two cars from overhead. The object is to illustrate how both cars get the same damage and repairs, but the 21st Century insurance owner pays less.
* A British anti-drinking PSA had an interviewer trying to persuade passers-by to do sober things they might do when drunk. One of the suggestions was to climb into a shopping trolley and have a mate shove it into a wall as hard as possible.
* An Australian ad for ALDI supermarkets has ALDI customers riding shopping trolleys around a carpark like figure skaters when no one is watching.

* In one of the first Literature/Anpanman edutainment [=OVAs=], Horrorman rides through a department store in one, using a broom as an oar to push him around. He stops when he crashes into a fruit and vegetable stand, bringing down both him and the produce.
* In Literature/BenTo, uses one as a club.
* In GTO: 14 Days in Shonan, Onizuka puts Ayame into a shopping cart and pushes her at high speed as they run from a group of yakuza assassins.
* Anime/SailorMoon: Episode 66 (during the R season) had Sailor Mars ride a shopping cart into battle.

* ComicBook/BlueMonday:
** Victor duct-tapes Bleu into a shopping cart and sends her through a car wash. Then he takes her home, but leaves her on the porch in the cart while he has dinner with her family.
** Later on, the boys prank all three girls like this, sending them down a hill. Clover's is called a paddy wagon, since she's FightingIrish (and it's the StPatricksDayEpisode).
* Jason beats an old man to death with a shopping cart during the supermarket massacre in ComicBook/FreddyVsJasonVsAsh.

* In Film/AnimalHouse, after the infamous toga party, Larry leaves a drunk girl (whom he met at the supermarket) at her parents' front door in a shopping cart.
* Film/AmericanAnimals: Spencer and Warren are sitting in Warren's car in a parking lot, smoking weed and talking about how their lives are going nowhere. They are watching a bunch of people just hanging out in the empty parking lot, two of whom are pushing each other around in a shopping cart. Just before they leave, they see the now empty shopping cart rolling down the hill on fire.
* The documentary Film/CartsOfDarkness follows homeless men who race shopping carts down steep hills and busy streets.
* Film/HotFuzz: two huge chains of shopping carts are used as a BatteringRam.
* In the opening scene of Jackass: The Movie, the cast are riding in a shopping cart.
* Creator/JoeDante's Film/Matinee gives us the movie-within-a-movie The Shook-Up Shopping Cart, a Disney sendup where the usual supermarket shenanigans involve a man who's been transformed into a cart - and a young Naomi Watts plays the man/cart's niece!
* There's a Creator/JackieChan movie (Film/RumbleInTheBronx?) where a shopping cart plays a crucial role during a fight scene.
* In Film/SatansLittleHelper, the main character gets the SerialKiller he is obliviously helping out to push him around in a shopping cart, and run random people down.
* Film/WillyWonkaAndTheChocolateFactory. During her song "I Want It Now", Veruca Salt grabs a shopping cart, uses it to threaten some Oompa-Loompas, then sends it into a pile of boxes and knocks them down.

* Johnny and the Bomb: Johnny and Kirsty escape some Men In Black by riding a bag-lady's shopping cart down a steep hill.
* In the Literature/Discworld book Literature/ReaperMan, you get a lot of varied shopping trolley shenanigans as those things are alive (and initially hiding it) due to rather plot-relevant events. But they're useful to store things in. And dangerous when they take off on their own, leaving people running behind them screaming about what's inside them. Or screaming about being inside them. One memorable instance is when one is hijacked and used to store the Bursar in - and it then takes off for the hills. A massive comedic ChaseScene (complete with ATeamFiring misguided magic blasts) ensues. This is not the only such scene, but is one of the stand-outs. In short, there is a whole chunk of Reaper Man devoted to this trope.

* In Series/ArrestedDevelopment, whenever the "series of escalating dares" leading to Gob's marriage to Creator/AmyPoehler is mentioned, you see a still of the pair racing in shopping carts. This is, of course, played with in a later episode.
* Done on 3}} Bitcom (a short, live action comedy show that runs as filler between programs on Creator/ABC3 in Australia) where the discovery of a shopping cart in the parking lot causes the two main characters to completely abandon their plans in favour of playing with it.
* Series/CanadasWorstDriver: In season 5, one contestant was reminiscing about playing "Shopping Cart Hockey" with his friends -- and they incorporated it into the show, with the contestants using their cars to push a shopping cart down a road and through a goal. They liked it so much, they have used several variations since then (but not with actual shopping carts).
* In the Series/CSINY episode "Obsession", one of the murders centers around a race run using shopping carts and where it is customary to sabotage the other teams.
* This was a staple of Series/Jackass itself, particularly Bam and the CKY group in the early years (Phil Margera worked in a supermarket for many years).
* A Series/MadTV1995 parody of Series/Jackass has a fake Music/KennyRogers riding a shopping cart as it gets rammed into a curb. HilarityEnsues.
* Series/MarriedWithChildren:
** The Bundys and the Darcys both win a shot at a local grocery store's Series/SupermarketSweep-type contest. The Bundys show up with a Pimped Out cart. The Darcys find the best cart possible, but it's disqualified for not being from that store so they have to make do with a rickety old cart with wheels that go all which way.
** Marcy and her first husband Steve once had sex in a homeless person's shopping cart.
* One clip on Series/WorldsDumbest features a shopping cart race in England. The winner is "quite chuffed", much to the confusion of the (American) commentators who don't know what "chuffed" means. (It means "happy".)

* Gavin [=DeGraw's=] music video for "In Love With a Girl".
* hide's music video for Misery. Somehow, pushing the cart around the store ends up with it upturned and him sitting in it eating random groceries from cereal to dish soap...
* Music/Rihanna's music video for "We Found Love".

* When wrestlers bring a shopping cart full of weapons to the ring to use in a Hardcore match the cart itself often becomes an ImprovisedWeapon. One memorable incident during the Wrestling/Raven and Wrestling/Rhyno match at Backlash 2001 had Rhyno try to hit his opponent with the Gore only to end up stuck in the cart.

* Early in VideoGame/SeventySevenPEggwife, you infiltrate your local Pissco Shopping Store (a parody of Tesco) by riding an out-of-control cart.
* VideoGame/DeadRising: Steven Chapman, a psychotic grocery store manager, uses a weaponized shopping cart as a weapon during his boss fight. Defeating him will let Frank use it. This is a far more effective (and fun) zombie-mowing weapon than the ordinary shopping carts found throughout the mall, though they can still be used to knock down zombies in a pinch. Steven does, however, have enough presence of mind to yank a shotgun out of the bottom rack and fire on you if he misses with the cart.
* A far-less lighthearted example: in VideoGame/Fallout3 Super Mutants use shopping carts as cages to keep wastelanders secure until the Mutants get hungry or worse need someone to keep up their numbers. Super Mutant Behemoths, the biggest and oldest, carry shopping carts on their backs for the same purpose. The thing is the shopping carts the Behemoths carry are much larger than others; this is due to the Behemoth model being sized up to be more intimidating at the cost of not everything being scaled properly.
* In VideoGame/Fortnite[='=]s Battle Royale mode, you can find shopping carts that you can use for faster travel. If you have teammates, one of them can stand in the basket of the cart and fire away while you push them around.
* Ultimate VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3: Frank West uses a modified shopping cart as one of his hypers. It has Goods mounted on it.
* In the first VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes game, the assassin Speed Buster is an old lady with a shopping cart full of groceries ... which is actually a disguise for its function as a devastating WaveMotionGun.
* There's a flash game called VideoGame/ShoppingCartHero where you jump off a ramp in a shopping cart.
* VideoGame/TatsunokoVsCapcom: Ultimate All-Stars: one of Frank West's specials has a zombie barreling down the field in a shopping cart, toppling his opponent. In response, Frank screams, "Oh my God!"

* Webcomic/DrugsAndKisses features trolleys being used for near enough every conceivable use from transport to a makeshift bbq grill
* In a series of strips of Webcomic/NerfNow starting here Jane convinces Morgan to ride in shopping carts with her. This ends with Morgan having a broken arm.

* The Ladybugs in WesternAnimation/AmericanDad assassinate unruly members with shopping carts and make it look like an accident.
* WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtHead try to arrange getting themselves (read: Beavis) hit in a parking lot by inattentive drivers quick to pony up a little cash to avoid legal action. This naturally leads to Beavis in a cart which gets locked onto the bumper of Mr. Anderson's RV, which he takes onto the highway.
* Done in one episode of WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor when Sector V run out of cereal and the only box left is in a supermarket run by villains. Naturally they don't want to linger too long in the place, so they modify a shopping cart into a high speed vehicle and try to gun it through the store while fighting off baddies (who oddly enough want the cereal too).
* WesternAnimation/DangerMouse: In "The Other Day the Earth Stood Still", Baron Greenback brings all of the world's vehicles to a halt, except two: a rusty rocket that is blasting off, and a shopping trolley rolling across a supermarket car park. DM immediately decides that the most suspicious is...the shopping trolley! Professor Squawkencluck then suggests that the rocket might be more worthy of investigation.
* WesternAnimation/ElTigreTheAdventuresOfMannyRivera: In the opening theme, Manny and Frida roll down the Miracle City volcano on a shopping cart. They crash into a cactus and land at the feet of a giant monster that's attacking the city.
* WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends:
** "Supermarket Mania" has Jon and Garfield go to a supermarket that has shopping carts with crooked wheels, causing them to veer into shelves.
** "Don't Move" has Odie riding down the sidewalk in a shopping cart.
* On WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons, Marge rides a shopping cart like a scooter because she is bored. It crashes into a large display, and she walks away like nothing happened.
* The first episode of WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo has Starfire, Beast Boy and Cyborg go off to alien planets to gather ingredients for the Legendary Sandwich while Robin gets stuck at the supermarket getting pretzel bread. While waiting on his turn to order, he gets into these with not only riding the cart around, but having one with a squeaky wheel that also stops.
* Near the end of the WesternAnimation/VeggieTales episode, "Madame Blueberry", Bob and Madame Blueberry both commandeer shopping carts in order to race towards the site of where her house is tipping over, except poor Larry, who just winds up dragging along a little handheld shopping basket instead.
