The convict is skeptical at first, but soon become convinced she is a sentient being capable of thought and emotion. Cut to a year later, when all is well with the convict and his "wife"... until the astronauts arrive with news that he's been pardoned and can come back to Earth, but cannot take the robot. He tries to rebel, but in the conflict one of the astronauts shoots and "kills" the robot. The convict mourns her, but the astronauts assure him that by leaving the asteroid he is only leaving behind loneliness.
