In many sequel names, particularly in schlock horror, the title, or [[OddlyNamedSequel2ElectricBoogaloo sub-title]], describes some kind of return, revenge, reaction, counter-force, backlash, etc. that usually implies it's a direct consequence of one of the previous installments. The movie's tagline might even be something like "And ''this'' time, ItsPersonal."

Also expect "Return of _____", "Son of _____", and "Bride of _____". Can overlap with CharacterActionTitle, where the most common variants are "_____ Returns", "_____ Strikes Back" and "_____ Rides Again".

Compare UnabashedBMovieFan. Usually overlaps with TheXOfY.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02: [[Recap/DigimonAdventure02M2RevengeOfDiaboromon Revenge of Diaboromon]]''. The original Japanese title was ''Diaboromon Strikes Back.'' The "02" in ''Digimon Adventure 02'', carried over from the series, isn’t meant to identify it as a sequel, but refers to it taking place in 2002, though. (At the time it was written, 2002 was NextSundayAD)
* Averted with ''Anime/DragonBallZCoolersRevenge''; because it's the FirstAppearance of that character, his "revenge" is for the death of his brother Freeza. The trope is played straight for the following film, ''Anime/DragonBallZTheReturnOfCooler''.
* ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'':
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack''
** The CompilationMovie of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam0083StardustMemory'' is titled ''The Last Blitz of Zeon''.
* The second season of ''Anime/JubeiChan'', "The Counterattack of Siberian Yagyuu."
* ''Mewtwo Strikes Back'' is an odd example, since it's the subtitle of ''Anime/PokemonTheFirstMovie''. The sequel is called ''Anime/PokemonMewtwoReturns''.
* The ''Anime/LupinIII'' OVA ''Anime/ReturnOfTheMagician'' is a sequel of sorts to the [[Anime/LupinIIIPart1 original 1972 series]], featuring [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin the return of the villainous magician Pycal]].
* The [[NewSeasonNewName second season]] of ''Anime/ZombieLandSaga'' is entitled ''Zombie Land Saga Revenge''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Asian Animation]]
* The 10th season of ''Animation/HappyHeroes'' is officially titled ''Happy Heroes and the Return of the Superhero''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/BatmanTheDarkKnightReturns'' is not actually a sequel, but '''its''' sequel is ''ComicBook/TheDarkKnightStrikesAgain''
* Lobo's second series was ''Lobo's Back''. The ''third'' was ''Lobo's Back's Back''.
* The second ''ComicBook/HackSlash'' trade paperback is titled ''The Revenge of the Return''.
* ComicBook/AmbushBug's second series was ''Son of Ambush Bug''.
* In ''ComicBook/XMen: The End'', Jubilee is a movie producer - and one of the posters in her office is for ''Literature/LordOfTheFlies 2: Piggy's Revenge''
[[/folder]]

[[folder:FanWorks]]
* ''VideoGame/KirbyRevengeOfDreamLand'', while not a direct sequel, is a NintendoHard rework of ''VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand''. The title doubles as a reference to ''VideoGame/KirbySuperStarUltra'', where the [[UndergroundMonkey souped-up bosses]] all had "Revenge" in their [[TieredByName names]].
* ''Fanfic/TheSecretReturnOfAlexMack'' references both the canonical series (''Series/TheSecretWorldOfAlexMack''), and Diane Castle's prior story where Alex was called away to join The League of Extraordinary Women.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animated]]
* ''WesternAnimation/AladdinTheReturnOfJafar'': Jafar uses Abis Mal, a foolish thief with a grudge against Aladdin and Iago switching sides, to get back in power.
* ''WesternAnimation/AtlantisMilosReturn''
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyondReturnOfTheJoker''
* ''WesternAnimation/NightAtTheMuseumKahmunrahRisesAgain''
* ''WesternAnimation/SpaceChimps'' was followed by ''WesternAnimation/SpaceChimps2ZartogStrikesBack''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* The Franchise/UniversalHorror films of the '30s and '40s may have been the TropeCodifier:
** ''Film/{{Frankenstein|1931}}'' was followed by ''Film/BrideOfFrankenstein'', ''Film/SonOfFrankenstein'', ''Film/TheGhostOfFrankenstein'', ''Film/HouseOfFrankenstein'', ''Film/FrankensteinMeetsTheWolfMan'', etc.
** ''Film/{{Dracula|1931}}'' was followed by ''Film/DraculasDaughter'', ''Film/SonOfDracula'', and ''Film/HouseOfDracula''.
** ''Film/{{The Mummy|1932}}'' was followed by ''Film/TheMummysHand'' (actually a reboot rather than a direct sequel), which itself was followed by ''The Mummy's Tomb'', ''The Mummy's Ghost'', and ''The Mummy's Curse''.
** ''Film/TheInvisibleMan1933'' was followed by films including ''Film/TheInvisibleManReturns'' and ''The Invisible Man's Revenge''.
** ''Film/CreatureFromTheBlackLagoon'' was followed by ''Film/RevengeOfTheCreature'' and ''Film/TheCreatureWalksAmongUs''.
* ''Franchise/StarWars'':
** ''Episode V: Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack''. Has become so well known that nearly any movie, book, or other title with the words "strike back" in it that came after 1980 is 99% likely to be referencing this.
** ''Episode VI: Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'' It was originally titled ''[[http://posterwire.com/return-of-the-jedi/ Revenge of the Jedi]]'' in both posters and even the teaser trailer before Lucas changed the title a few weeks before the premiere (as Jedi do not seek Revenge).
** ''Episode III: Film/RevengeOfTheSith'', which was itself a reference to the original title of Episode VI (as Sith certainly ''do'' seek Revenge).
* ''Film/DieHardWithAVengeance''
* ''Film/JayAndSilentBobStrikeBack'', which is of course a direct reference to ''Franchise/StarWars''. Complete with Creator/MarkHamill (applause).
* ''Film/ANightmareOnElmStreetPart2FreddysRevenge''. However, it's a NonIndicativeTitle, since Freddy is not getting his revenge on anyone. Nancy, the only survivor of the original film is not in this one, [[spoiler:and she didn't even beat him then, prompting no actual revenge.]] There is also no hint that the kids' parents in this film were responsible for killing Freddy.
* ''Franchise/{{Halloween}}'':
** ''Film/Halloween4TheReturnOfMichaelMyers''
** ''Film/Halloween5TheRevengeOfMichaelMyers''
** ''Film/HalloweenTheCurseOfMichaelMyers''
** ''Film/HalloweenH20TwentyYearsLater'' was originally going to be ''Halloween 7: The Revenge of Laurie Strode''.
* ''[[Film/JackFrost1997 Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman]]''
* ''Film/TheReturnOfTheLivingDead'' (a sort-of sequel to ''Film/NightOfTheLivingDead1968'') and its ''four'' sequels.
* The actual George Romero sequels: ''Film/DawnOfTheDead1978'', ''Film/DayOfTheDead1985'', ''Film/LandOfTheDead'', ''Film/DiaryOfTheDead'', and ''Film/SurvivalOfTheDead''.
* ''Film/JawsTheRevenge''
* ''[[Film/TexasChainsawMassacreTheNextGeneration The Return of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre]]''.
* ''Film/TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen''. Justified title, as the Fallen is an actual character in the movie, seeking revenge for things that happened millennia before the first movie took place. Also a subtle play on events from the first movie.
* ''Film/TheReturnOfThePinkPanther'', ''Film/ThePinkPantherStrikesAgain'', ''Film/RevengeOfThePinkPanther'', ''Film/TrailOfThePinkPanther'', ''Film/CurseOfThePinkPanther'', ''Film/SonOfThePinkPanther''.
* ''Film/PorkysRevenge''
* ''Film/SupermanReturns''
* ''Film/BatmanReturns''
* ''Film/{{Halloweentown}} II: Kalabar's Revenge''
* ''Franchise/{{Godzilla}}'':
** ''Film/GodzillaRaidsAgain''
** ''Film/SonOfGodzilla''
** The former English title of ''Film/AllMonstersAttack'' is ''Godzilla's Revenge''. However, it's a NonIndicativeTitle, since Godzilla is not getting his revenge on anyone, nor does he even exists; the kaiju in that movie are just the make-believe imaginary adventures of a young boy in a mundane world.
** ''Film/TheReturnOfGodzilla'', also known as ''Godzilla 1985''.
** The second Mechagodzilla movie, known in English as ''Film/TerrorOfMechagodzilla'', has a Japanese title that translates to ''Mechagodzilla's Counterattack''.
* The 1996 BMovie ''The Golden Suburban'' (TheFilmOfTheSong of the Narcocorrido ''La Suburban Dorada'' by Los Huracanes del Norte) got a sequel in 1998, ''The Return of the Golden Suburban'' (''El Regreso de la Suburban Dorada'').
* ''Star Trek II'' was nearly named ''The Vengeance of Khan'', but the third ''Franchise/StarWars'' movie was known at the time as ''Revenge'' of the Jedi, so they switched to calling it ''[[Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan The Wrath of Khan]]''.
* ''Film/TheMummyTrilogy'':
** ''Film/TheMummyReturns''
** Done again at the Ride/UniversalStudios theme parks with the ''Ride/RevengeOfTheMummy'' roller coaster.
* Film/HammerHorror were ''never'' content with a NumberedSequel. Why settle for 'Dracula III' when you can have ''Film/DraculaPrinceOfDarkness'' instead?
* ''Film/PsychoCopReturns''
* ''Film/TheReturnOfSwampThing''
* ''Return of Sabata''
* ''Film/{{Zebraman}} 2: Vengeful Zebra City''
* ''Film/TheSonOfKong'', sequel to the original ''Film/KingKong1933''.
** Similarly, ''Film/KingKong1976'' was followed by ''Film/KingKongLives''.
* ''Film/DrPhibesRisesAgain'', sequel to ''Film/TheAbominableDrPhibes''.
* The fourth, fifth, and sixth ''Film/ChildsPlay'' films are entitled ''Film/BrideOfChucky'', ''Film/SeedOfChucky'', and ''Film/CurseOfChucky''.
* ''Film/BrideOfReAnimator'' and ''Film/BeyondReAnimator''
* ''Film/BeyondTheValleyOfTheDolls (1970)'' - although it is not exactly a sequel to ''Film/ValleyOfTheDolls''.
* ''Film/ReturnOfTheKillerTomatoes'' and ''Killer Tomatoes Strike Back!''
* ''Film/GIJoeRetaliation''.
* ''[[Film/CabinByTheLake Return to Cabin by the Lake]]''.
* ''Film/TheManWhoSavesTheWorld'', a.k.a. ''Turkish Star Wars'', has a sequel named ''Son of the Man Who Saves the World''. As you might guess, the sequel's protagonist is the son of the prequel's protagonist.
* ''Film/ReturnToHouseOnHauntedHill'', sequel to the remade ''Film/HouseOnHauntedHill1999''.
* ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial''.
* ''Film/MaryPoppinsReturns''
* ''Kriemhild's Revenge'', the second part of Creator/FritzLang's cinematic epic ''Film/DieNibelungen''.
* Before he died, Creator/StanleyKubrick wanted Creator/TerryGilliam to direct a ''Film/DrStrangelove'' sequel called ''Son Of Strangelove''.
* [[MarketBasedTitle The international subtitle]] for ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanDeadMenTellNoTales'' is ''Salazar's Revenge''.
* ''[[Franchise/{{Tarzan}} Tarzan's Revenge]]'' is notable in that at no point does Tarzan express a desire to take revenge on anybody.
* ''Film/WrathOfTheTitans'', the sequel to the ''Film/{{Clash of the Titans|2010}}'' remake.
* ''Film/DarkmanIITheReturnOfDurant''
* ''Film/FridayThe13thPartVIJasonLives'', which sees the titular killer come back to life after his death [[Film/FridayThe13thTheFinalChapter two films prior]].
* ''Film/TheFly1958'' was followed by ''Film/ReturnOfTheFly'' and ''Film/CurseOfTheFly''.
* ''Film/XXXReturnOfXanderCage'', which reveals that the titular protagonist being KilledOffscreen in the [[Film/XXXStateOfTheUnion previous movie]] was a case of ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated.
* ''Film/CocoonTheReturn''
* ''Film/TheReturnOfDonCamillo''
* ''Film/TheReturnOfTheTallBlondMan''
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* Creator/CJCherryh's novel ''[[Literature/ChanurNovels The Kif Strike Back]]''. Cherryh was shocked that her publisher took her joking suggestion seriously.
* It's worth noting that ''[[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings Return of the King]]'' is not an example of this trope because: 1) it's not a trilogy but the third volume of a single story, 2) the titular return is something that's been hundreds (?) of years in the making, and not a direct follow-up to the two previous installments. ''Return of the Shadow'' was a rejected title for ''The Fellowship of the Ring'', and eventually turned up as the title of the sixth volume in ''The History of Middle-Earth'', Christopher Tolkien's making of dodecalogy.
* ''Literature/TheCatInTheHat Comes Back''
* Many ''Literature/{{Goosebumps}}'' books: "Return of the Mummy", "Say Cheese and Die - Again!", "Return to [=HorrorLand=]", "Return to Ghost Camp", "Return to the Carnival of Horrors", "Return to Terror Tower", "Revenge of the Body Squeezers" and "Bride of the Living Dummy". The "Goosebumps [=HorrorLand=]" series includes several non-numbered sequels, starting with "Revenge of the Living Dummy".
* Creator/ArthurConanDoyle's first collection of Literature/SherlockHolmes stories after bringing the character back to life was titled - what else? - ''The Return of Sherlock Holmes''.
* Likewise, Chesterton brought back his detective, Literature/FatherBrown, in ''The Resurrection of Father Brown''.
* The second omnibus of ''Literature/TheSpiritThief'' books is titled ''Revenge of Eli Monpress''.
* One of Richard Lederer's sequels to ''Anguished English'' is ''The Bride of Anguished English''.
* A ''Series/TheAddamsFamily'' tie-in novel by W. F. Miksch is called ''The Addams Family Strikes Back''.
* ''Literature/TheGodfather'' received the sequels ''The Godfather Returns'' and ''The Godfather's Revenge'', written by Mark Winegardner after the death of Mario Puzo.
* ''Literature/ThePlantThatAteDirtySocks'': In-universe, Michael and Norman have seen a movie called ''The Swamp Monster''. In book 6, Norman discovers a sequel, ''Son of Swamp Monster''. Out-of-universe, every single sequel includes the phrase "The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks" and some qualifier such as ''The Return of...'', ''The Escape of...'' and so on.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live Action TV]]
* The ''Series/QuantumLeap'' episodes "Return of the Evil Leaper" and "Revenge of the Evil Leaper."
* ''Series/WhateverHappenedToTheLikelyLads?'' is kind of a variation on this.
* Several ''Series/MrBean'' episodes: "The Return of Mr. Bean", "The Curse of Mr. Bean", "Mr. Bean Rides Again", etc.
* ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'' made a sequel episode to "Slapsgiving" called "Slapsgiving: Revenge of the Slap". Then they made a third called "Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra."
* The second Cinemax season (third Creator/Sky1 series) of ''Series/StrikeBack'' is known as ''Strike Back: Vengeance'' in Britian.
* An in-universe example happens in ''Series/{{Friends}}'', when Joey mentions to have acted in a movie titled "Family Honor 2: This-a-Time-a-It's-a-Personal".
* The HorrorHost of ''Screaming Yellow Theater'' was named Svengoolie, so a few years later when another the station hired a new horror host he called himself the ''Son of Series/{{Svengoolie}}''.
* ''Series/DoctorWho'' has the stories "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS12E5RevengeOfTheCybermen Revenge of the Cybermen]]" (which, as is often pointed out, is a contradiction in terms as the emotionless Cybermen should not be able to feel the desire for revenge) and "[[Recap/DoctorWho2016CSTheReturnOfDoctorMysterio The Return of Doctor Mysterio]]".
* The revival series for ''Series/BaalVeer'' is called ''Baalveer Returns''.
* The title for ''Series/ReturnOfUltraman'' is a bit of a holdover from early development plans, when the Ultra hero [[Series/{{Ultraman}} from the first series]] was going to return as its lead protagonist.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* The O.C. Supertones' second studio album was titled ''Supertones Strike Back'', and their sixth was titled ''Revenge of the O.C. Supertones''.
* ''Son of Schmilsson'', Music/HarryNilsson's followup album to ''Nilsson Schmilsson''.
* The Music/FrankZappa instrumental trilogy ''Shut Up 'n' Play Yer Guitar'', ''Shut Up 'n' Play Yer Guitar Some More'', and ''Return of the Son of Shut Up 'n' Play Yer Guitar''.
** The song title ''Return of the Son of Monster Magnet'' (predating the above trilogy) parodies this trope.
* Although it's not a sequel, Music/{{Genesis|Band}} gave us the song "Return of the Giant Hogweed," in which the eponymous weed ([[TruthInTelevision which, in real life, is very unpleasant]]) comes to life and wreaks havoc.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pinball]]
* Given its B-movie traits, ''Pinball/RevengeFromMars'' is fittingly named.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/BurnoutRevenge''
* ''VideoGame/BanjoKazooieGruntysRevenge''
* ''[[VideoGame/BatmanSunsoft Batman: Return of the Joker]]''. The UsefulNotes/SegaGenesis version changes the title to ''Revenge of the Joker''.
* ''VideoGame/BatmanVengeance''
* ''B.C. II: Grog's Revenge'', the sequel to ''VideoGame/BCsQuestForTires''.
* ''VideoGame/{{Boktai}} 3: Sabata's Counterattack''
* ''Cybernoid II: The Revenge''
* ''VideoGame/DoubleDragon II: The Revenge''
** ''Return of VideoGame/DoubleDragon'', the Japanese version of ''Super Double Dragon''.
* Inverted with ''VideoGame/DustyRevenge'', who later has a prequel, ''VideoGame/DustyRagingFist''
* ''VideoGame/CommandAndConquer'':
** The ''VideoGame/CommandAndConquerRedAlert2'' expansion pack ''Yuri's Revenge''.
** ''VideoGame/CommandAndConquerTiberiumWars: Kane's Wrath''
* ''VideoGame/GunfighterTheLegendOfJesseJames'' is followed by ''Gunfighter II: Revenge of Jesse James'', although it's a NonIndicativeTitle because Jesse never goes on any revenge despite the title.
* ''VideoGame/MetroidIIReturnOfSamus''
** And its remake, ''VideoGame/MetroidSamusReturns''
* ''Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back!'' (known as ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}: The War Against Giygas!'' in the U.S.)
* ''VideoGame/WingCommander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi''
* ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'':
** The mini-game ''Revenge of Meta Knight'' in ''VideoGame/KirbySuperStar'' was the titular knight's second appearance in the mainline VideoGame/{{Kirby}} series.
** From ''[[VideoGame/KirbySuperStar Kirby Super Star Ultra]]'', we get ''Revenge of the King.'' A [[DarkerAndEdgier darker]] and much [[NintendoHard harder]] remake/semi-sequel of the [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand first game in the series]] with King Dedede and all of the bosses taking a huge [[TookALevelInBadass Level In Badass]].
** ''VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand''
* ''VideoGame/MonkeyIsland2LeChucksRevenge''
* ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot2CortexStrikesBack''
* ''VideoGame/MetalGear'':
** ''VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance''
** ''VideoGame/SnakesRevenge'', the [[CanonDiscontinuity non-canonical]] NES sequel to the original ''VideoGame/{{Metal Gear|1}}''. The title makes very little sense in context, since the plot is actually about Big Boss getting his revenge on Solid Snake for turning him into a cyborg. It becomes HilariousInHindsight when ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid3SnakeEater'' revealed that "Snake" was originally Big Boss' codename.
* ''VideoGame/BonksRevenge'', but what Bonk's getting revenge for is uncertain. If anything, King Drool should be getting revenge on him.
* ''VideoGame/MetalCombatFalconsRevenge''
* ''[[VideoGame/StarTropics Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II]]''
* ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaIIBelmontsRevenge'', which is actually about Dracula getting his revenge on Christopher Belmont for ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaTheAdventure''.
* The European version of ''[[VideoGame/{{Contra}} Super C]]'' is known as ''Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces''.
** The arcade version of ''Super Contra'' bore the tagline ''Erian no Gyakushu'' in Japanese, which literally means "The Alien's Counterattack" or "The Aliens Strikes Back".
* The two ''VideoGame/{{Shinobi}}'' sequels for the UsefulNotes/SegaGenesis were called ''VideoGame/TheRevengeOfShinobi'' and ''VideoGame/ShinobiIIIReturnOfTheNinjaMaster''.
* ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles II: Back from the Sewers'' the second UsefulNotes/GameBoy game in the series.
** ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Return of the Shredder'', the Japanese version of ''[=TMNT=]: The Hyperstone Heist'' for the Genesis.
** ''VideoGame/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesShreddersRevenge''. Especially fitting here, since it's the first game based on the show to have been made in decades.
* ''VideoGame/TerraCresta'' has the second game called ''Mandler's Counterattack''.
* ''Night Warriors: VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}}' Revenge''
* ''VideoGame/MegaManDrWilysRevenge''
* ''VideoGame/FinalFight Revenge''
* ''VideoGame/GoldenAxe: Revenge of the Death Adder'' (the arcade sequel)
* ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfKyrandia III: Malcolm's Revenge''
* ''VideoGame/TheNightmareBeforeChristmasOogiesRevenge''
* ''VideoGame/{{Arkanoid}}: Revenge of Doh''
* ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryReturns'' (in this case, the ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry'' series itself ''Returns'' from a real-life decade-long SequelGap)
* ''VideoGame/SpaceQuest [[VideoGame/SpaceQuestIIVohaulsRevenge II: Vohaul's Revenge]]''
** In ''VideoGame/{{Space Quest IV|RogerWilcoAndTheTimeRippers}}'', one of the time travel dates is called ''Space Quest XII: Vohaul's Revenge II''.
* ''VideoGame/PoliceQuest2TheVengeance''
* ''VideoGame/ShantaeRiskysRevenge'' is titled after Risky Boots, the series' main villain, who wants payback on Shantae for defeating her in the previous game.
* ''VideoGame/LodeRunner II: The Bungeling Strikes Back''
* ''VideoGame/UltimaII: The Revenge of the Enchantress''. The BigBad of part two is the ex-girlfriend of the BigBad from part one.
* ''VideoGame/{{Frogger}} 2: Swampy's Revenge''
* ''[[VideoGame/StarWarsEpisodeIRacer Star Wars Racer Revenge]]''
* ''VideoGame/{{Hunchback}} II: Quasimodo's Revenge''. It's not clear what Quasimodo is supposed to be taking revenge for.
* ''Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge''
* ''Return of the Invaders'', 1985 sequel to ''VideoGame/SpaceInvaders''
* ''Revenge of the Mutant Camels'', sequel to ''Attack of the Mutant Camels''
* ''VideoGame/{{Wizardry}} IV: The Return of Werdna''
* ''VideoGame/DungeonMaster: Chaos Strikes Back''
* ''The Return of Ishtar'', sequel to ''VideoGame/TheTowerOfDruaga''
* ''Dragon's Revenge'', sequel to ''[[VideoGame/CrushPinball Dragon's Fury]]''
* ''Cauldron II: The Pumpkin Strikes Back''
* ''Montezuma's Return'' was a sequel to ''Montezuma's Revenge'', which wasn't a sequel to anything.
* ''Videogame/MysteryCaseFiles'''s Ravenhearst series: ''Return to Ravenhearst'', and then ''Escape from Ravenhearst''.
* ''ComicStrip/DanDare II: Mekon's Revenge''
* ''Doomdark's Revenge'', sequel to ''Lords of Midnight''.
* ''Last Ninja 2: Back with a Vengeance''. (This may have been intended as a TagLine rather than a subtitle, but some versions did include it on the title screen.)
* Another non-sequel example is the UsefulNotes/GameBoyAdvance port of Creator/{{Infogrames}}' ''VideoGame/TheSmurfs1994'' titled ''Revenge Of The Smurfs'' (which is also the name of one of [[WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs the cartoon show's episodes]]).
* ''VideoGame/{{Columns}} III: Revenge of Columns.''
* In ''VideoGame/LEGOBatman'', two of the episodes have titles like this, even though the game itself is not a sequel: "The Riddler's Revenge" and "The Joker's Return." It's justified by the opening showing all the villains breaking out of Arkham Asylum, so even though the game isn't a sequel, the Joker ''is'' returning to committing crime in Gotham. [[TheGoodGuysAlwaysWin Briefly]].
* ''VideoGame/X2WolverinesRevenge''
* ''Emperor Yie-Gah's Counterattack: VideoGame/YieArKungFu 2''
* ''[[VideoGame/{{Tomba}} Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return]]''
* ''VideoGame/{{Zuma}}'s Revenge''
* ''VideoGame/Splatoon3'''s story mode is titled "Return of the Mammalians", referring to the mysterious re-emergence of mammals in a world where they had [[AfterTheEnd long since gone extinct]].
* The LicensedGame of the 2011 ''Film/{{Green Lantern|2011}}'' film is titled ''VideoGame/GreenLanternRiseOfTheManhunters''.
* ''VideoGame/SpaceQuestIIVohaulsRevenge''
* In ''Dr. Horror's House of Terror'' the main character has a part in ''The Revenge of the Bride of the Vampire''.

* A story on Website/TheDailyWTF mentions the [[http://thedailywtf.com/Articles/ITAPPMONROBOT.aspx ITAPPMONROBOT]] server, dedicated to physically pushing a button with its CD tray. 261[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''[[WesternAnimation/FrostyTheSnowman Frosty Returns]]''
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama Revenge of the Island''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSnowQueen1995'''s sequel is named ''The Snow Queen's Revenge''.

* Creator/TerryPratchett used to have a gag he did with people who brought ''all'' their Literature/{{Discworld}} novels to sign. He'd start off with "Best Wishes" then "Better Wishes", "Even Better Wishes", "More Wishes" and so on, then eventually move on to "Son of Best Wishes", "Bride of Best Wishes", and "Return of the Killer Best Wishes (from 20,000 Fathoms)". This prompted one fan to suggest the sort of dedications Sir Terry would be writing when he hit the fifty book mark and people were backing the car in, including "Fuck Off", "Son of Fuck Off" and "Third Prodigal Son of a Fling with the Daughter of the Baker to Fuck Off". Fans being what they are, some people later ''requested'' these.
