Some people can be very friendly. Very, ''very'' uncomfortably friendly.

It isn't just that they tend to stand too close when they're talking to people--it's that they're practically ''on'' them. You may even be complete strangers, but that doesn't stop them from hanging off of you and breathing your [=CO=][[subscript:2]] during the conversation, whether you like it or not. It doesn't help that they tend to get... er, grabby.

Somebody with No Sense of Personal Space may keep their targets of uncomfortable closeness down to one person, or they might be like this with everyone. The character might be a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} that just doesn't know better, or they may just really, ''really'' like you (or [[ReallyGetsAround everyone]]), and just don't let some bothersome "social etiquette" get in the way of it. They may be a [[VillainousFaceHold villain showing their authority]] over a captive or a creepy AbhorrentAdmirer who doesn't care about personal boundaries. Then again, they just might be [[ItAmusedMe trying to get you riled up]] [[{{Jerkass}} for shits and giggles]]. This tendency usually comes with [[TermsOfEndangerment inappropriate uses]] of FirstNameBasis.

Anime characters with No Sense of Personal Space love to implement TheGlomp as their favored tactic. For best results, have them latch onto someone that HatesBeingTouched. It can also be a good source of HoYay, FoeRomanceSubtext, or LesYay. Depending on the context, this behavior may get a character labeled a MemeticMolester by the fandom. Compare CuddleBug.

Not to be confused with the PersonalSpaceInvader, which deals with grabby {{Mooks}} in video games.

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/AlbedoErmaFelnaEDF'' has this trope of how Erma and her later best friend, Toki, first interacted. When Erma first bunked with Toki, that mouse had some bad habits like leaving the bathroom messy and barging in for frivolous reasons when Erma was using it. However, the last straw is when Toki's feline lover visits that night for sex and Erma is kept awake first with the thumping on the above bunk and the smell of the aftermath. Eventually, the two work out their differences.
* In ''ComicBook/GenerationZero'', Cloud has uncontrolled telepathic abilities that grant her an intimate view into the mind of anyone she meets. Consequently, she assumes that she is intimate with everyone; when she first meets Keisha, she embraces and kisses her.
* Examples from ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'' stories:
** In ''[[ComicBook/Supergirl1982 Supergirl Vol 2]]'' [[ComicBook/{{Supergirl}} Linda Danvers]]' friend Joan doesn't get the concept. Two seconds after her first meeting Joan grabs Linda's hand and drags her along.
** ''ComicBook/{{Bizarrogirl}}'': Unsurprisingly, the titular Bizarro character does not get the concept. During their trip back to Bizarro World, Bizarrogirl scares ComicBook/{{Supergirl}} to death when all of sudden she’s behind her and leaning past her shoulder.
* In ComicBook/{{Superman}}/ComicBook/{{Supergirl}} story ''ComicBook/KryptonNoMore'', Clark Kent's co-worker Terri invades his personal space and clings to him as soon as she sees him.
* ''ComicBook/WonderWoman'' [[ComicBook/WonderWoman1942 Vol 1]]: Draska Nishiki uses her very intentional invasion of personal space to exert dominance over her targets like Gen. Darnell and ComicBook/SteveTrevor. She likes to sit on people's desks or otherwise give herself a perch that makes her closer than they'd like while also allowing her to loom over them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Strips]]
* ''ComicStrip/{{Dilbert}}'':
** [[http://www.dilbert.com/strips/comic/1991-12-20/ This comic]] features Nardo from TheOldCountry, who even has to be told to keep his hands out of Dilbert's pockets.
** Dogbert discusses cultural concepts of personal space in ''Dogbert's Clues for the Clueless''. In America, you're allowed just inside the "Bad Breath Zone". In Italy, you can get inside the other person's clothes. In Australia, any distance is too damn close.
--->'''Dot on Horizon:''' ''Hey! Can we talk!?''\
'''Australian:''' ''[to himself]'' Tourist.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
[[AC:{{Crossover}}s]]
* ''Fanfic/BrilliantLightsWillCeaseToBurnByMyHandIllReigniteThem'': The very minute she meets him, Mei ''immediately'' gets into Izuku's face and starts feeling him up in order to take measurements for his costume. She openly admits that invading other's privacy is one of her favorite hobbies, coming in second only after inventing.
* ''Fanfic/ChildrenOfAnElderGod'': Asuka is not familiarized with the concept of "personal space". In her first appearance in chapter 4, she quickly latched on to Kaji. And later she stayed close to Shinji and wrapped an arm around his, despite barely knowing Shinji at that point:
-->''Asuka quickly stepped up to Shinji's side, taking his arm in hers, and strolled along with Kaji and Misato.''
* ''Fanfic/DungeonKeeperAmi'' has Tserk, a [[{{EldritchAbomination}} tentacle monster]] who was one of the first minions at the service of the sailor senshi. He likes fondling and cuddling with people, whether they like it or not. This got him punished by Mercury a couple of times, mostly by forcing him to cuddle with people nobody would like to cuddle with. Like an AxCrazy barbarian, or a [[{{HairTriggerTemper}} very angry]] ''[[{{BigRedDevil}} Horned Reaper]].''
* ''Fanfic/EquestriaGirlsAFairlyOddFriendship'': Gary and Betty. This annoys Sunset and gets the even less-patient Gilda to slug one of them.
* ''Fanfic/SignsOfSnow'' has the highly-communal Andorians treating the whole idea of privacy as something insulting and obscene, with Shran openly deriding the doctor's asking for him to step back a little.
* ''Fanfic/AStarstruckPhantasmicRomance'': Starfire is extremely over-affectionate and obsessively clingy to Danny, although she eventually calms down. Danny himself becomes extremely clingy towards Starfire in ''The Switch'', thanks to Desiree's magic.

[[AC:''Franchise/AssassinsCreed'']]
* In ''Fanfic/UnintendedConsequences'', Shay has no problem with diving into the heads of others in order to get what he wants, or taking control of their bodies when they "aren't using them".

[[AC:''Manga/DeathNote'']]
* Ryuk in the CrackFic ''Fanfic/ACharmedLife''. It never occurs to him that sticking his face in Light's chest might not be appropriate.

[[AC:''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'']]
* ''Fanfic/StarsEyesOfHeaven'' pins this as a common trait of Stand users. Since Stands usually manifest right next to their user, the person gets used to sharing their personal space. This tends to wig out non-Stand users who are used to being able to retreat from contact if necessary. Jotaro is especially bad about this, because he combines this trope with being tall, muscular, and having a FaceOfAThug.

[[AC:''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'']]
* In ''Fanfic/TheLegendOfZeldaParadiseCalling'', Navi has no qualms about starting a conversation with Link while he's in the bath, saying it's nothing she hasn't seen before. She also points out that he never had a problem with bathing in the hot springs with the Kokiri.

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'']]
* ''Fanfic/JulekaVsTheForcesOfTheUniverse'':
** One of Chat Noir's favorite 'flirting tactics' is forcing his way into Ladybug's personal space. He is fully aware of how much she dislikes this, and makes very clear that he does not care. ''Her opinion'' only matters when she ''agrees'' with him; on subjects such as this, he [[SelectiveObliviousness dismisses her discomfort]].
** He also feels free to treat any ''other'' girls this way as part of his '[[TheCharmer charming]]' persona. When [[spoiler:Purple Tigress]] debuts, he [[DeathGlare glares her down]] before realizing that she's a hero''ine'' and dismisses her as a [[CrazyJealousGuy potential romantic rival]], at which point he immediately starts forces his way into her space as well.
** During the fight against All-Seer, he [[TheMillstone outright refuses]] to follow Ladybug's plan to flank their opponent in favor of sticking close to her side so he can keep flirting with her.
* ''Webcomic/ScarletLady'':
** Chloé is ''all over'' this. While Adrien is her favorite victim, and she loves to hang off his arm whenever she gets the chance to latch onto it, she also treats ''any'' guy she's interested in the same way. Such as Luka and XY. Her primary justification for this is one of her personal rules, specifically Rule 72: [[DudeMagnet All guys have to be crazy about her]]. And in her mind, her clinging to all the boys she likes is the same as ''them'' being attracted to ''her''.
** Chloé acts the exact same way as Scarlet Lady, towards the exact same targets, without a single thought towards concealing her secret identity. This has only succeeded in establishing the {{Nominal Hero}}ine as another AbhorrentAdmirer.
** [[LoonyFan Vincent Asa]]'s EstablishingCharacterMoment has him latching onto Jagged Stone and trying to take a selfie together despite having been ''repeatedly'' told the rock star doesn't want him taking any photos. He claims this will prove that they're "super friends", blithely ignoring Jagged Stone snarling that they're ''not'' friends and he doesn't want him anywhere ''near'' him.
** Wayhem acts much the same way towards Adrien, to the point that the conflict in "Gorizilla" is kicked off by Wayhem recognizing a disguised Adrien, taking a selfie with him, and [[SocialMediaBeforeReason immediately posting it on social media]]. To Wayhem's credit, unlike Chloé and Vincent, he actually has a JerkassRealization about his behavior and ultimately apologizes for his actions.

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'']]
* In ''Fanfic/ChrysalisVisitsTheHague'', Chrysalis becomes increasingly (literally, physically) clingy in her interactions with her lawyer Estermann. The implications that these are the actions of [[SuccubiAndIncubi the G-rated succubus that she was in the show]] are rather plain.
* In ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/143257/huggled Huggled]]'', all of the pegasi in Ponyville, for some reason, have gathered overnight and decided that they need to constantly give hugs to every other pony in town, whether the other ponies want it or not. It turns out that this is the result of Rarity botching a spell that was meant to help her pegasus coltfriend Thunderlane with his [[TheLoinsSleepTonight "intimacy issues"]].
* ''Fanfic/SophisticationAndBetrayal'': Cashmere tends to get very touchy-feely with others, ''especially'' with Rarity. At the same time, however, she gets very annoyed with anyone who ''dares'' to make the same sort of impositions upon her.

[[AC:''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'']]
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'':
** Asuka. Even before getting together with Shinji, she used to invade other people's personal space aggressively and spontaneously, especially if she was interested in them.
** All Shinji's female classmates with a crush on him tend to get closer than Shinji would like, wpecially Chihiro Tanaka, who does not seem to get the "personal space" concept. In chapter 6 she gets Asuka mad when she gets way too close to Shinji.
--->''Her beloved baka was under siege by at least half a dozen of the usual Harpies, led by that bitch Tanaka. Shinji sat nervously with his back to the fence, surrounded by pretty young girls. Geek-Stooge sat next to him, staring just as nervously at the surrounding ring of girls. Luckily for him, they were ignoring him in favor of staring hungrily at Shinji. Shinji had less than a meter of space around him. Tanaka herself was leaning way into Shinji's personal space, reaching a hand out to touch his face oh no we are not having that!''
* ''Fanfic/NeonGenesisEvangelionGenocide'': After the Angel War, Asuka is too broken and angry to care about things such as respecting other people's personal bubbles. When she wants to tell you something, she gets very close.
* ''Fanfic/OnceMoreWithFeelingCrazy88'': When Asuka meets Shinji, she immediately and aggressively steps into his personal space to study him. During their posterior interactions, she tends to get extremely close to Shinji.

[[AC:''Franchise/ASongOfIceAndFire'']]
* ''Fanfic/TheMountainAndTheWolf'': The Wolf tends to do this constantly to allies and enemies both, and to great effect given how huge he is. Strangely, he never seems to solely rely on physical intimidation, often speaking to the other person as though in normal conversation.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Nine}}'':
** The twins very much fall under this category, seeing as their first order of business following their appearance was to start messing with the main character's easy access portal to his internal organs. Well, sackcloth-doll organs. Still, nobody wants a pair of busybodies monkeying around with their insides.
** 5 also falls under this category.
* Gaston in Disney's ''WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast'' towards Belle. In fact, Disney Villains in general seem incapable of staying out of the main character's personal space.
* Sid from ''WesternAnimation/IceAge'' fits very well in this trope.
* ''Franchise/{{Madagascar}}'':
** King Julian.
** Also Mort, especially when it involves Julian's feet.
* As pointed out in the [[DVDCommentary director's commentary]], the Robinson family in ''WesternAnimation/MeetTheRobinsons'' frequently get in the face of the more reserved Lewis. It's most noticeable with [[https://i1.wp.com/caps.pictures/200/7-meet-the-robinsons/full/meet-the-robinsons-disneyscreencaps.com-4028.jpg Uncle Gaston]], who leans over Lewis to the point where Lewis has to turn his head straight up to face him.
* In ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsRainbowRocks'', the Dazzlings stroke seemingly everyone in the cafeteria during "Let's Have a Battle".
** Photo Finish in the short ''Photo Finished'' has absolutely no concern for the personal space of her chosen subjects, to the point that they complain about it to vice principal Luna. When Luna brings this up to Photo Finish, she becomes the crazy photographer's next subject.
* [[SlipperyAsAnEel Anago]] in ''Animation/{{Padak}}'' has little respect for the titular protagonists' personal space, invading it whenever possible to rile her up or when questioning her motivations and beliefs.
* Colette from ''WesternAnimation/{{Ratatouille}}'' thinks that the only reason Linguini's personal space exists is so that she can invade it. Sure, she was doing it to intimidate him, but one can't help but think that she does it for enjoyment with how often it happens.
* The eponymous character in ''WesternAnimation/{{Tarzan}}'', as a result of being raised with no human contact.
-->'''Professor Porter:''' Oh, Janie Jane! What an amazing discovery! A man with no language, no human behavior...\
'''Jane Porter:''' And no respect for personal boundaries.\
'''Professor Porter:''' How do you mean?\
'''Jane Porter:''' ''[gets extremely close to Professor Porter]'' He was this close to me, daddy, just staring at me!
* ''WesternAnimation/TreasurePlanet'': BEN. "I just wanna hug ya and squeeze ya and hold ya close to me!" Much to the dismay of Jim Hawkins.
-->'''Jim:''' You have to stop ''touching me''.
* Mebh from ''WesternAnimation/{{Wolfwalkers}}'' is a WildChild who lives in the woods with only her mother and wolves for company, so the concept of personal space doesn't occur to her. She climbs all over Robyn when she first brings her to the den, including biting Robyn's hair and sniffing her armpit. She isn't much better as a [[OurWerewolvesAreDifferent wolf]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* ''Film/BadBoys1995'': While talking to his chemist, Fouchet constantly gets in his face whenever he starts getting angry.
* ''Film/{{Beetlejuice}}'': Betelgeuse does this with anyone -- living or dead.
* ''Film/{{Borat}}'' takes this to an extreme, even sprinting after people to get in their faces.
* Beldar and other Remulaks in ''Film/{{Coneheads}}'' often exhibit behavior like this, being aliens.
* ''Film/TheForceAwakens'':
** Finn. Some of it is probably because he has a crush on Rey (such as when he grabs her hand while they're fleeing a bombing run), but other times it's clear he just really does have no sense of personal space, possibly due to being raised from birth to be a stormtrooper. At one point when he's trying to see out a high window, he uses Rey's forehead to brace his hand simply because it's the most convenient thing around.
** Kylo Ren towards Rey, too, especially in the interrogation scene. He gets creepily intimate with her, leaning close to her face and speaking softly. Another sign of his VillainousCrush on Rey.
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** Voldemort. When he steals the Elder Wand in ''[[Film/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallowsPart1 Deathly Hallows, Part 1]]'', he's face to face with the dead Dumbledore. They'd be touching noses, [[TheNoseless if he had a nose]]. ''[[Film/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallowsPart2 Part 2]]'' didn't let up--[[spoiler:after Harry's DisneyDeath]], he offers the Hogwarts students and defenders a chance to join the ranks of the Death Eaters. Draco crosses the field to get to his parents, and ''Voldemort hugs him''. Or tries to, anyway; he clearly has no idea what he's doing.
** Several Death Eaters have this problem in the films; Snape gets uncomfortably close to Harry at times and both Scabior and Bellatrix have some rather [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything suggestive]] moments with Hermione in ''[[Film/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallowsPart1 Deathly Hallows, Part 1]]''.
** In ''Halfblood Prince'', Bellatrix gets all up in both Snape and her sister Narcissa’s space while performing the unbreakable vow. She also gives her nephew Draco a not very aunt-like kiss on the neck when she gets to Hogwarts towards the end. Unlike his mom, he’s freaked out by it.
* ''Film/TheKnowledge'': Mr Burgess "The Vampire" regularly invades the personal space of the candidates during their appearances, as one of the many things he does to make them uncomfortable.
* ''Film/LifeAsAHouse'': Multiple characters seem to have no sense of boundaries. Alyssa gets into the shower while Sam is inside. George showers outdoors and urinates in view of his neighbors. The shack he lives in has no separate enclosure for the toilet, which Sam complains about.
* ''Film/OlsenBanden'': Vanheden from the Swedish ''Jönssonligan'' movies acts like this toward his fellow gang members from time to time, especially his leader Sickan. This ranges from patting Sickan on the cheek seconds after the latter has gotten out of jail, to suddenly grabbing him by the shoulders and guiding/pushing him to locations or objects just a few meters away, to [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/backa_lite_grann_va.PNG practically standing on him in public even when there's plenty of room around them.]] Vanheden also sees no issue with slapping Harry (his cousin) on the butt even though Harry doesn't like it at all.
* One of the aspects in the 2003 adaptation of ''Film/PeterPan'' that really creeped out some reviewers was Hook's complete lack of personal space with both Peter and Wendy. The fact that he's an adult obsessed with killing a child (later multiple children) did not help. Creator/JasonIsaacs has described that in interviews as having been incredibly uncomfortable to portray.
* ''Film/ThePhantomOfTheOpera1998'': The Phantom sure loves to get up close and personal with Christine - and anyone who crosses his path.
* In ''Film/PitchPerfect'', Chloe has no problem bursting in on Beca during her shower while both are naked. She also gets up in her face (in an overly-friendly way) at a party later. WordOfGod is she was written as a "close talker".
* In ''Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean'' there doesn't seem to be any place more comfy and hospitable for pirates to hang out than your territorial bubble, and no pirate likes it better than Captain Jack. In the [[Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanAtWorldsEnd third film]], Jack actually manages to invade ''his own'' personal space.
* ''Film/TheProfessional'' features Creator/GaryOldman as Stansfield, who has "a talent for sniffing out a lie", interrogating Mathilda's father while sniffing him and invading his personal space.[[note]]This was improvised by Oldman.[[/note]] He later does the same with Mathilda.
* David from ''Film/TheWatcher'' just ''loves'' to find any excuse he can to hug and touch Joel.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
%%* Guy and especially Iason from ''Literature/AiNoKusabi'' towards Riki.
* ''Literature/ChrysalisRinoZ'': The ants are repeatedly noted to be unconcerned about personal boundaries, crawling all over each other and not minding at all. When traveling by ship, they cram themselves in like sardines to take up less vessels, and in combat they make more efficient maneuvers by climbing over each other's ranks, and think nothing of it. It helps that they're all focused on TheNeedsOfTheMany.
* ''Literature/ClockpunkAndTheVitalizer'': The Vitalizer has no qualms about getting in Clockpunk's face. It's half unsettling, half breathtaking.
* The Ayakas in ''Literature/GirlsKingdom'' happily invade anyone and everyone's personal space, seemingly because they can. This goes up to and including outright groping other girls' chests and butts. In fact, their short character profiles at the beginning of each book says that Music Ayaka likes to harass younger students and Flower Ayaka likes to molest younger students, and in the story itself, most characters take the Ayakas' molestations in stride because they're so used to it by now.
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** Snape isn't quite as bad about this in the books, but his standard "interrogating a pupil" technique seems to be "get right in their personal space". Snape does this deliberately, however, as he is attempting to make students as unnerved as possible so it is easy to [[spoiler:read their minds]].
** Wormtail made Harry and Hermione uncomfortable in the third book when he tried to thank them by throwing his arms around their legs.
%%* Gruffen from ''Literature/TheLastDragonChronicles''.
* ''Literature/TheMazeRunner'': Brenda just can't keep her hands off Thomas from the moment they meet in ''The Scorch Trials'', and claims that this kind of behavior is normal where she comes from when he calls her out on it.
* ''Literature/ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents'': [[MemeticMolester Count Olaf]]; most frequent target: Violet. Other targets: Klaus, Sunny, Aunt Josephine, etc., etc.
* ''Literature/SlugDaysStories'': Lauren, an eight-year-old with ASD, doesn't understand that when she stands too close to the other kids, hugs them, or touches their hair, it makes them uncomfortable. In ''Slug Days'', her therapist Ms. Lagorio tells her to stand at arm's length from the other kids, but when she gets back to class she tries to measure her distance from her classmate Dan by reaching her arms out and touching him. He threatens to punch her lights out if she touches him again.
* ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'': As in [[Series/GameOfThrones the TV series]], Littlefinger, Catelyn Stark's UnluckyChildhoodFriend acts this way towards Catelyn's daughter [[ReplacementGoldfish Sansa]]. It's to an even greater degree than his television counterpart, where he leans in really close whenever he talks to her. In the books, he's literally stroking her face and playing with her hair ''on first meeting her''. [[WifeHusbandry It just gets worse from there...]]
* Christine Rhoades from ''Literature/SpectralShadows'' can be this sometimes... like when she pounces on the shy, geeky squirrel girl Kacey. Given that Kacey has a lot of her squirrel traits intact, so this doesn't go over well.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Podcasts]]
* Tuatha from ''Podcast/TheFallenGods''. According to her player Jake, the only way to get uncomfortably close to her is if someone magically goes inside or through her body.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pro Wrestling]]
* Wrestling/{{Goldust}} is known for startling people breathing on them, which is usually preceded by them discovering he is uncomfortably close by or him simply walking up inappropriately close to someone he wants the attention of.
* Giant Singh/The Great Khali likes to intimidate shorter people in the locker room by standing with his [[TheGiant stomach]] very close to their faces.
* Part of the reason Wrestling/MsChif unnerves many wrestlers when combined with a deceptively quick and light step, which leads to her popping up unexpectedly and uncomfortably close in the locker room. Though happening upon her by surprise beats [[ScreamingWarrior the alternative.]]
* Concerning this trope, [[Wrestling/KatarinaWaters Winter]] is like [=MsChif=]'s EvilCounterpart. Where Chif is an inquisitive [[TheFairfolk fey]] who simply has trouble [[NoSocialSkills not being creepy]] Winter is a [[DepravedBisexual bisexual predator]] obsessed with making people bleed. Where Chif is quick and quiet by nature, Winter climbs and crawls around locker rooms for the sole purpose of startling and unnerving people with her suddenly very close appearances.
* Greg Excellent of Ground Breaking and Wrestling/{{CZW}}, once having annoyed his boss Maven Bentley by trying to have a very up close conversation with him while Bentley was in the bathroom trying to use a urinal.
* Marty "The Moth" Martinez of Wrestling/LuchaUnderground, especially around ring announcer Melissa Santos.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Roleplay]]
* ''Roleplay/DawnOfANewAgeOldportBlues:''
** Ciro, as a result of being a [[PromotionToParent paternal]] older brother, has a habit of being touchy-feely even with people he isn't related to, whether it's a subtle pat on the shoulder or an AffectionateGestureToTheHead.
** Jemimah is boisterous and highly extroverted and shows this by practically throwing herself against other people and invading their space with willful abandon.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* ''TabletopGame/{{Necromunda}}'': The background material for the 3rd Edition [[MercenaryUnits Hired Gun]] Yolanda Skorn mentions that a number of gang leaders who have employed the crazy BountyHunter had to end their contract after being unnerved at finding her staring at them from a few inches away when they woke-up.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theatre]]
* In ''Theatre/PokemonLive'', Giovanni and Ash get up close and personal in "You Just Can't Win".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/ANNOMutationem'': After Ann recovers following the first fight with Loki, Ayane playfully asks for a kiss to make her worries pass, all-while she tries to move in closely while getting repeatedly shoved away.
* With the Chapter 2 remaster, ''VideoGame/BendyAndTheInkMachine'' has Sammy Lawrence getting ''very'' close to the camera when he recognizes Henry.
* In ''VideoGame/DivinityIIEgoDraconis'' you have the summonable necromantic creature, which follows you everywhere and tends to get in the way or into your personal space more often than its combat benefits are worth. It also has an idling emote consisting of it raising a leg and urinating on the floor, which must come as very embarrassing for the hero if you're in someone's house. ''Why does an undead creature need to piss?''
* ''VideoGame/DragaliaLost'' has Chelsea who's this for Luca. It starts off simple enough where she gets him lunch, but escalates to cleaning his room on a daily basis without him knowing she's doing so, and even following him into the bath. When he tries to break it off with her, she turns into full-on {{Yandere}}.
* ''Franchise/{{Fallout}}'':
** In ''VideoGame/Fallout3'', it is not uncommon for you to turn around to find one of your followers right up in your face. Also, robot butler Wadsworth tends to follow you around your Megaton home and do this.
** In ''VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas'' Malcolm Holmes sneaks right up behind you to tell you about the star caps.
%%* Alma to Becket in ''VideoGame/FirstEncounterAssaultRecon''.
* The first time [[PlayerCharacter Takkar]] meets Tensay the shaman in ''VideoGame/FarCryPrimal'', Tensay dashes forwards, grabs him by the arms, and spins him around, getting right in his face. He does this a lot throughout the game, partially contributing to Tensay's image as a CreepyGood guy.
* Herlock Sholmes in ''VisualNovel/TheGreatAceAttorney'' loves getting physically close to other people's faces, particularly Ryunosuke.
* ''VideoGame/HalfLife2'': Freeman's squad habitually crowds around him so closely that it can be impossible to move without bumping into one or take a shot without dinging one by accident. One imagines Gordon got to know who used which toothpaste, they're that close -- as noted [[http://www.screencuisine.net/hlcomic/index.php?date=2006-06-04 in this parody comic]].
* The "Remember me?" monster in ''VideoGame/TheHalloweenHack''. One of its attacks is to hug Varik, solidifying him somehow.
* [[BecomeARealBoy Daniella/The Maid]] from ''VideoGame/HauntingGround'' seems to love doing this in cutscenes to poor [[PuritySue Fiona]]. [[spoiler:In fact, during the scene that introduces her as the game's second antagonist, she [[FanDisservice gropes Fiona in...places]] after poisoning her to make her sleep]].
* ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'':
** In ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsChainOfMemories'' Larxene tends to get ''really'' close to both Axel and Namine.
** In the Final Mix of ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'', Marluxia's Absent Silhouette is a bonus boss. At the start of the battle, he ''whispers in Sora's ear'' to trigger a pseudo-Doom effect.
* ''[[VideoGame/TrailsSeries The Legend of Heroes - Trails]]'':
** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsFromZeroAndTrailsToAzure'': Wazy has no problems invading Lloyd's personal space just to tease him.
** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel'': Millium repeatedly leaps onto Rean, Jusis, and a random girl from the Equestrian Club with sudden hugs and has naughty dreams about doing the same to Emma.
* ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'':
** Dark/Demon Lord Ghirahim to Link in their first and second battles from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword'', which leads to FoeRomanceSubtext.
** And in the spinoff game ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors'', Fi does it to Link. Link quickly agrees to her request to get her out of his face. Ghirahim's enemy intro continues his habits in this trope.
* ''VideoGame/MegaManStarForce'': Omega-Xis definitely no respect for Geo's privacy when gets up close just to prove a point while Geo is doubting himself.
* ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'': Prior to the 1.14 update, Villagers had an odd tendency to all crowd inside one house at night, regardless of its size. Particularly small houses in large villages could have them packed like sardines.
* Thanks to a certain moment near the end of the game, Tsaubern from ''VideoGame/SuikodenTierkreis'' is often portrayed as having this trait by the fandom.
* ''VideoGame/SuperMario64 DS'': The rabbits in Peach's Castle will accuse Yoshi of this, if the dino keeps putting them in his mouth, but not actually swallowing them.
* ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'':
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfXillia'': Alvin makes a habit of putting his arm around the back of Jude's neck and he either leans on him or makes him lean forward when they talk.
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia'': Estelle always stands incredibly close to everyone she talks to, and in some cases will hug them or grab their hands without permission, something that annoys [[{{Tsundere}} Rita]] to no end.
* In ''VideoGame/{{Warframe}}'', the [=AI=] known as Cephalon Simaris likes to project his holographic avatar so that it's (a) looming over you and (b) about three inches from your face.

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* Magnus of ''WebAnimation/IfTheEmperorHadATextToSpeechDevice'' gets ''very'' close to Kitten when trying to convert him to his cause, to the point that Kitten gets uncomfortable.
* ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'': [[Characters/RWBYSalem Salem]] will invade an individual's personal space as a method of intimidating them. When interrogating her subordinates about their failure to retrieve the Relic of Knowledge, she issues her commands while assaulting Hazel with summoned Grimm arms and standing right next to Emerald with a hand on her shoulder. When interrogating a captured Oscar, she is willing to stand right in front of his face; sometimes she will cradle his face with false affection and sometimes grabs his face roughly in anger depending on whether she's mocking his plight or enraged by his defiance.

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* David of ''Webcomic/BittersweetCandyBowl'' has no sense of personal space. [[http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c44/p13.html Or decency]].
* ''Webcomic/CyanideAndHappiness'' has the Personal Space Invader, shown [[http://www.explosm.net/comics/940/ here]].
* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'': The average Jäger has no qualms about being in everyone's space like they're old friends. Dimo in particular has learned to weaponize this by looming threateningly over people often by [[https://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20050805 perching on]] [[https://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20050916 something]] [[https://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20051125 a person]] he wants unsettled is next to so as to surprise them with a well-timed comment and when they turn they're faced with an uncomfortably close Jäger that is crouched like they're ready to pounce and with all their very sharp teeth showing in a menacing grin.
* ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'':
** [[MeaningfulName Catalina Bobcat]] clings to people while talking to them, to the point that she makes ChivalrousPervert Tedd uncomfortable when she does it to him.
** Grace has also done this on occasion.
* ''Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt'':
** Parley. Mostly she does it to Andrew Smith (making it clear to everyone--except Andrew himself--[[{{UST}} that she has the hots for him]]) but she also gives Antimony some finger-poking action [[http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=270 here,]] where TheRant {{lampshades}} her failure to respect personal space. This eventually gave Parley a scare of her life, though--touching Antimony at the wrong time led to [[spoiler:an intimate mind-to-mind contact with one angry ghost]].
** Coyote likes to get up close and personal as well.
* Cronus from ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'' is a creepy version, touching people a lot to hit on them and insisting that it's just friendly and that they shouldn't make this weirder than it needs to be. When he does it to Mituna, who a) HatesBeingTouched and b) is quite literally brain-damaged (which is ''not'' played for laughs), it's even worse than usual. Jasprosesprite^2 is even MORE annoying, with cat puns and innuendos being thrown around everywhere.
* In the first chapter of ''Webcomic/TheMeek'', we are introduced to InnocentFanserviceGirl Angora, who has lived in the wild for much of her life and consequently has not developed many cultural taboos, such as a sense of personal space. Pinter gets to discover this firsthand.
* ''Webcomic/MenageA3'': Yuki to Zii.
* Petria from ''Webcomic/ThePhoenixRequiem'' likes to do this to Jonas, mostly because of the reactions it gets from him. [[spoiler:Her own lack of inhibition is due to the fact that [[HookerWithAHeartOfGold she used to be a prostitute]]]].
* On occasion, Dora from ''Webcomic/QuestionableContent''. [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1592 For example]]. She doesn't do it all the time, or to everyone; Faye gets it the most.
* Taisei from ''Webcomic/{{Sakana}}''. The awkwardness level of it is especially high because he's so tall. For added hilarity, he often gets paired with [[HatesBeingTouched Yuudai]].
* ''Webcomic/TheShufflers'': Hiddenite does things like sleep completely naked in Märchen‘s bed unasked.
* ''Speak with Monsters'' indicates this is a racial trait of Ropers.
* ''Webcomic/StandStillStaySilent'': Håkan, Sune and Anna Västerström have a thing for grabbing onto or patting people, including perfect strangers. And they seem to have an inherent gift for finding the one guy who HatesBeingTouched and ganging up on him.
* Osgood from ''Webcomic/StringTheory2009''.
* Kizarasunga from ''Webcomic/TigressQueen''. She may have learned this from being [[RaisedByWolves raised by tigers]], but she also seems to do it [[IShallTauntYou just to mess with people]] (especially Prince Jintu).
* Mahalah in ''Webcomic/UndeadFriend'' has a bad habit of this as she has spent many years as a ghost that nobody could see and has no memories of being alive. She is overly affectionate to Orrick, the first human to see her, and it's been implied that while he couldn't see her she may have even seen him shower before.
* ''Webcomic/VariousHappenings'': Eddie seems to be very fond of lean-ins, nose booping, and generally picking up Cassandra due to their difference in stature.
* In the ''Webcomic Name'' chapter [[https://twitter.com/dorrismccomics/status/1000010224651132928 "Got Your Back"]], one blob sees that another blob has a shirt on with the tag sticking out, and tucks it in to the latter's dismay.
--> "this label is sticking out. [[LampshadeHanging I feel compelled to be over-familiar.]]"
* Sock towards Jonathan in ''Webcomic/WelcomeToHell'', as exemplified by the [[http://welcometohellfilm.tumblr.com/post/39442415494/wth-kickstarter thank you drawing when the kickstarter succeeded]], depicting Sock with his arm around Jonathan as the latter cringes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Videos]]
* Donnie [=DuPre=] from ''WebVideo/DemoReel'' really likes to cuddle, especially with other guys. The family who kidnaps him and touches him a lot while keeping him drugged are a much creepier take.
%%* ''WebVideo/MiraiNikkiTheAbridgedSeries'': Yuno. She ''is'' Yukiteru's personal space.
* Script/SeinfeldTheTwinTowers: At a ceremony honoring first responders, George goes in to hug one, completely oblivious to how awkward it is.
