When a WillTheyOrWontThey-type couple is on the verge of [[RelationshipUpgrade upgrading their relationship]], their friends will quickly vacate the area to give them some privacy. To justify doing so they may hurriedly cook up some [[INeedToGoIronMyDog implausible reason to leave]]. The less savvy friends may have to be shooed or pulled away, as may [[ChildrenAreInnocent children]]. In some variations, the friends will spy on the couple to see how it goes. In others, the "couple" uses this trope to get others to leave, often by FakeOutMakeOut.

If the friends are [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold jerks]], they might say this very loudly so that the couple in question can hear. Resulting in much blushing, and possibly a SnapBack, as they CannotSpitItOut once they know they have an audience. If the character leaving is not subtle, it can be a typical MomentKiller.

The more aggressive counterpart is GetARoom.

[[folder:Anime and Manga]]
* A variation is PlayedForLaughs in the twelfth chapter of ''Manga/AsteroidInLove'', adopted in the fourth episode. When the [[ClubStub Earth Sciences Club]] is visiting the Geological Museum, Mikage, the local geology nut, is squeeing over the exhibits, and behind her is Mai squeeing over Mikage. Seeing this, Mari blocks Mira and Ao moving forward and lets the two have a bit of me time.
* Even though she hates the idea of Romio and Juliet dating each other, Char from ''Manga/BoardingSchoolJuliet'' manages to drive potential {{Moment Killer}}s away several times even without the couple in question knowing. One chapter especially is devoted to Char's POV, and to her chagrin, she had to trick multiple characters in quick succession.
* Played straight multiple times and subverted once in ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura''. In the manga (and second movie of the anime), Tomoyo (and Meiling) often make excuses to disappear when Syaoran gets close to confessing his love to Sakura. Subverted once with Sakura and Yukito in the Path of Stars; everyone makes sure they enter together alone, Eriol even holds off his mischief for a while, but the talk that ensues is Yukito turning Sakura down and helping her realize that she loves him as family.
* ''Manga/CaseClosed'': an injured Takagi is alone in a hospital room with Sato, certain that any moment now, a MomentKiller will walk through the door. Thankfully, unknown to him, the Detective Boys shoo away the visitors under the pretense he needs his rest, and they can't help but peek in the room when he and Sato share a very {{Squee}}-inducing kiss.
%% ** Kazuha Toyama in the Shiragami-sama case. It was bad news for Shinichi though: [[spoiler:He was about to shrink back into Conan when Ran was still with him. Heiji tried to help him escape, but Kazuha.]]
* In ''Anime/{{Charlotte}}'', the early red herring love interest's friend pulls one of these, leaving her and Yuu free to eat alone together after school.
* In ''Manga/ChronoCrusade'', when Rosette walks away from her group to find Chrono in a carnival, [[TheMatchmaker Azmaria]] makes up an excuse to Satella for why they shouldn't follow when her motivation is really so Chrono and Rosette can have a moment alone together.
* After the funeral for [[spoiler: Shirley's father]] in ''Anime/CodeGeass'', the student council members are left standing in the graveyard. Everyone quickly withdraws to give Lelouch and Shirley some space, though [[CoolBigSis Milly]] has to manhandle Rivals out of the graveyard.
* In ''Manga/DarwinsGame'', [[spoiler:when Shuka and Kaname do the deed in Shuka’s room, Sui is able to sense it when she tries to sees Shuka and pushes Ryuuji who was also nearby away]].
* Near the end of ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'', the other [=GGG=] members keep Mamoru from going with Gai and Mikoto to her parents' grave, knowing that anything they say there (and afterwards) is likely going to be very private.
* In ''Manga/{{Genshiken}}'', Sasahara and the other guys excuse themselves from Kousaka's apartment so he would be alone with Kasukabe.
* ''Manga/HitomiChanIsShyWithStrangers'': Since pretty much every other character is a ShipperOnDeck for Yuu and Hitomi, they (usually Yuu's sister Kaoru and her friend Angelica) frequently set things up so that the two of them are alone together, like a FerrisWheelDateMoment or an OldFashionedRowboatDate. In Chapter 39, when they're LockedInARoom together, Tachibana-sensei opens the door just as Hitomi has [[SuggestiveCollision fallen on top of Yuu]] after he pulled her back through the window. She smiles and says she'll act like she didn't see anything, though they protest that it's NotWhatItLooksLike.
* The {{Heel Face Turn}}ed Witch of the Waste takes Markl away in the movie version of ''Anime/HowlsMovingCastle''. She pulls him away while Howl and Sophie are having their moment.
* ''Manga/ItazuraNaKiss'': When Kotoko and Naoki have an argument during [[spoiler: their honeymoon]], Mrs. Irie is taking a video of their makeup kiss but she's dragged away by her husband to leave them ''finally'' alone.
* ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventurePhantomBlood'': After stumbling upon a romantic moment between his new HeterosexualLifePartner and said partner's VictoriousChildhoodFriend, Speedwagon wisely decides to withdraw coolly.
* In ''Manga/KaguyaSamaLoveIsWar'', Maki is talking to Ishigami regarding what he got up to over winter break, but she spots his crush Tsubame coming over to talk to him and quietly dips into a nearby empty classroom without another word. She also admonishes Iino for not doing the same when she interrupts them.
* In ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'', after Caro sends a quick telepathic note to Erio, the both of them quickly vacate Subaru's hospital room after Teana arrives. Man, even the kids can detect the lingering LesYay.
* At the end of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeed'', Athrun senses that Kira is going to cry and he drags Cagalli out of the room to leave his friend alone with Lacus. Cagalli protests.
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'': This is [[PlayedForHorror played much more darkly and villainous]] than usual in one anime only arc. Naruto faces Fūka, a FemmeFatale that [[ForcefulKiss forces]] a KissOfDeath on him after excessively flirting with him and essentially turning their fight into a CaptiveDate. When Naruto's teammates Sakura and Sai see the two kissing, they quickly realize something is wrong, and Sakura tried to attack Fūka, demanding she release Naruto. But Fūka's teammates Fudō and Fuen arrived and stopped her, then trapped her and Sai to prevent them from interfering, thus allowing Fūka to continue her kiss with Naruto uninterrupted. Though thankfully shortly after this, Fūka ends the kiss herself due to accidentally absorbing the Nine-Tails' chakra and finding it "[[TooSpicyForYogSothoth too evil]]" for her.
%% * ''Literature/{{Slayers}}'': [[LoveFreak Amelia]] with Zelgadis to give Lina and Gourry room after a fight with Halcyform.
* Done in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing'' episode 46. After [[TheStoic Heero]] learns Relena's on Libra, he goes to get her. Duo wants the Gundam Pilots to go after him, but the others decide not to, with Quatre adding, "Besides, let's leave the two of them alone." Note that Quatre has a ''smile'' on his face when he says that. [[ShipperOnDeck He probably knows something that the rest of the pilots don't]].
* Chapter 255 of ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'' has a hugely smiling Konoka speedily vacating the room with Setsuna after [[ShipTease Asuna insisted that she be the one to rub the healing salve on Negi's]], partly healed, [[ShirtlessScene shirtless body]].
* ''Anime/PhantomQuestCorp'': Near the end of the final episode, Nanami sees [[HeldGaze the look between Ayaka and Detective Karino]] and ushers Rokkon away to give them their privacy.
-->'''Rokkon:''' (''confused by Nanami pushing him away'') Um, Ms. Nanami...?\
'''Nanami:''' (''smiling'') Let's go, 'Big Stuff'. This show's WAY over!
* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'': The "let's spy on them" variation was a trademark schtick of everybody else in the house when Ranma and Akane had to talk. This of course usually led to the interruption of said moments when someone inevitably either fell through the sliding doors or got impatient and told them to get on with it. The same thing happens with Ukyo and Shampoo.
* In episode 23 of ''Anime/ShinMazinger'', the ''Narrator'' tries to leave on behalf of Kouji and Sayaka as they're doing their usual thing of BelligerentSexualTension, but they [[NoFourthWall overhear him]] just before the scene changes.
* In ''Manga/ASilentVoice'', Yuzuru makes up excuses to give Shouko and Shouya as much time alone as possible at the fireworks festival. Twice! The second time [[spoiler:Shouya arrives just in time to prevent Shouko's suicide.]]
* A variation: In ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''[=/=]''Anime/{{Robotech}}'', when Hikaru/Rick and Misa/Lisa [[FakeoutMakeout kiss]] to try to distract what they thing is a Zentraedi guard, it turns out to be Max's [[HumongousMecha battroid]] [[DressingAsTheEnemy in a Zentradi uniform]]. He stows his comrades into the coat's pockets, but teases Hikaru/Rick and Misa/Lisa by putting them in the same pocket to give them some "privacy".
* In ''Anime/{{Vandread}}'' one of the characters arranges for the lovebirds to be LockedInARoom together. Although they thoughtfully installed cameras beforehand and broadcast the feed live across the whole ship.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* In ''ComicBook/TheLifeAndTimesOfScroogeMcDuck, Chapter 8B: The Prisoner of White Agony Creek'': After taking a party to "[[UnwantedRescue rescue]]" Goldie from Scrooge, Judge Roy Bean wisely decides they do ''not'' want to interrupt, because "what's going on in that cabin is ''not'' a hanging offense in Langtry, Texas, or anywhere else! Thank gosh!"
* ''ComicBook/{{Robin|1993}}'': Ives goes out of his way to make sure Tim and Stephanie get time on their own on multiple occasions over the years.
* ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics'': Sonic Issue 130 features Sonic finally returning from space, after everyone on Mobius thought he was dead, and kissing Sally then and there. The photographers start snapping pictures, leading to one of the royal guards saying this:
--> "Where were you raised? [[FurryConfusion In a kennel?]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
%% * In ''Fanfic/KyonBigDamnHero'', ''Nagato'' at one point.
* In the ''[[WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGalaxyRangers Galaxy Rangers]]'' fanfic ''Isn't Life Strange,'' Doc half-jokingly suggests leaving the place to Zach when they see Shane and Niko having a happy moment, despite both of them being laid up in Sickbay.
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'': Everyone quickly leaves after Asuka's birthday party is over since they're fully aware of what Shinji and Asuka are planning to do when they go to bed.
* ''[[Fanfic/AftermathOfTheGames Integration]]'': After a successful dinner date between Princess Twilight and the Human Flash Sentry, Twilight tells for Spike and [[spoiler:the filly Starlight Glimmer]] to go through the portal, and she will join them shortly. Before the latter can ask why, Spike bites on her dress and drags her through the portal himself, since he can see where this is going and doesn't want to be around to witness [[spoiler:Twilight and Flash share their FirstKiss]].
* ''Fanfic/DeathAndKer'' features several scenes in which Shinjiro, observing the burgeoning romance between Akihiko and Mitsuru, finds a way to slip away unnoticed and leave them alone together. It almost approaches the level of a running gag, as it's inevitably followed by one or the other of them wondering where the hell he went.
* Played with in the first part of the ''Fanfic/ElementalChessTrilogy''. The military personnel, all of whom were privy to [[spoiler:Roy and Riza's WackyMarriageProposal]], attempt to give them some privacy in a compartment on the train back to Central... except for the members of the Mustang unit, who left communications equipment in there with them and are listening intently to the conversation.
* In the ''Fanfic/FacingTheFutureSeries'', whenever WesternAnimation/{{Danny|Phantom}} and Sam have a moment, [[CoolBigSis Jazz's]] policy is not to peek in on them and leave them be so they can be together.
* Subverted in ''Fanfic/JusPrimaeNoctis''. After [[Literature/TheFamiliarOfZero Louise]] realizes she just did this with Siesta and Henrietta, she runs back to interrupt.
* It commonly happens in ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' fics, when after an identity reveal between Adrien and Marinette, their kwamis fly away (often with Tikki dragging Plagg by force) to let them have a private conversation.
* Lampshaded in ''Fanfic/OutOfTheDeadLand'': when Sam and Natasha start up a conspicuously loud conversation with each other while giving Steve and Bucky room to have a private talk, Steve remarks, "Nice of them to let us know they're not listening."
* Subverted in ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' ''Fanfic/GirlDays''. Because of a dumb bet, they're too stubborn to back down from, Ranma has to go on a date with Ryoga; and Akane, Shampoo, and Ukyo plan to spy on them. However, Akane eavesdrops on the duo having a friendly, heart-to-heart talk for once right before Shampoo and Ukyo burst into the place. When Akane berates both girls for disrupting their date, Shampoo and Ukyo believe Akane actually wants them to leave so Ranma and Ryoga can make out.
* In ''Fanfic/TomorrowsDoom'', during the beach outing, everyone decides to go out for a walk and leave Yoko and Kenta alone in the bungalow, expecting the two to hit it off. And they do.
* Lampshaded in ''[[Fanfic/TwiceUponAnAge All This Sh*t is Twice as Weird]]''. Dorian observes that Victoria is in the courtyard garden with Mahanon and Cassandra, but is desperately trying to find something else to occupy her attention so that she can do exactly this for them.
* ''[[Fanfic/YugiohEQG Yugioh EQG: Ω Zenith]]'': Fleetfoot asks Rainbow Dash to duel her so she can test out her new deck, but Rainbow says she already has plans for the afternoon. Fleetfoot asks what she has planned that she can't spare a quick duel until Soarin shows up. Then she glances between the two of them and gains a knowing smile and leaves them, telling the two of them to "have fun".
* ''Webcomic/NaruHinaChronicles'':
** In the Forest of Death, Ichiro tells Takara that he wants them to be more than just friends. Observing them, Naruto decides to leave them alone and go find an item he needs in order to succeed at the Chunin Exams.
** After Naruto reveals himself to still be alive following a mission where he was declared KIA, Shikamaru tells Sakura and Tsunade that he's willing to tell them what happened, but that they also should give some room to Naruto and Hinata.
** Outside some restaurant, Hinata faints after learning that [[spoiler:Naruto wants to propose to her, something she did not see coming given that she initially assumed he wanted to break up with her instead]]. When she wakes up inside the restaurant, their friends are ready to leave so that she and her boyfriend could be alone.
** In Chapter 126, while witnessing a tender moment between Naruto and Hinata, [[spoiler:Minato]] tells [[spoiler:Kushina]] they "should give these two a few moments alone, together."
* ''Fanfic/TruePotential'':
** Hinata nervously asks Naruto "W-Would y-you like to go s-somewhere together to eat o-or something?" However, [[ObliviousToLove Naruto]] misunderstands what she's asking and thinks she wants the two of them plus Shikamaru to spend time together, much to her disappointment. Noticing Hinata's reaction, [[ShipperOnDeck Shikamaru]] tells them he can't come given that he has to go home for some clan stuff (which ''[[SubvertedTrope isn't]]'' [[INeedToGoIronMyDog an excuse he just made up]]), thus allowing Naruto and Hinata to spend some time just the two of them.
** During the Kirigakure Civil War arc:
*** At some café, [[spoiler:[[ShipperOnDeck Anko]] notices Naruto blushing at Hinata's encouragement in becoming a seal master. She smirks and [[INeedToGoIronMyDog comes up with the excuse of having some errands to do and needing Shikamaru and Dosu to help her with that]], just so Naruto and Hinata could be together alone.]]
*** Later on, [[spoiler:during Naruto's conversation with Yagura, they're interrupted by the arrival of Mei. The latter and Yagura have a BigDamnReunion where they hug each other and have TearsOfJoy. Smiling at that moment, Naruto decides to walk out of the room as he feels they need their time.]]

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/AladdinTheReturnOfJafar'', Iago shoos Genie, Rajah, and Abu away from Jasmine and Aladdin, loudly and obnoxiously, as he does everything. It's an attempt to make them trust him ([[BecomingTheMask maybe]]).
* Inverted at the end of ''WesternAnimation/AtlantisTheLostEmpire'' where [[spoiler:[[MightyWhitey Milo]]]] and [[spoiler:[[TheHighQueen Kida]]]] both run off from their subjects and climb up a large rock structure as the stone face representing [[spoiler:[[Creator/LeonardNimoy Kida's dead father]]]] flies away into the sky.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Cinderella}}'': The King makes sure that the Prince can spend more time with Cinderella without gawkers and to eventually propose to her.
* During ''WesternAnimation/{{Frozen|2013}}'', Anna returns to Hans for help against the curse on her, telling him: "[[TrueLovesKiss Hans, you have to kiss me]]." The servants and aristocrats present immediately vacate the room. [[spoiler:Had they stayed, though, they might have been able to stop Hans from attempting to murder Anna...]]
* At the end of ''WesternAnimation/{{The Hunchback of Notre Dame|Disney}}'', the villagers crowd surf Quasimodo away from the cathedral, but Esmeralda and Phoebus stay behind.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994'': Simba has Timon and Pumbaa excused so he could be alone with Nala.
* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Pocahontas}}'', Grandmother Willow closes her leaves like a curtain while the main couple are about to kiss.
%% ** Meeko also pulls one off by preventing Flit from getting in the way. It's one of the few respectable actions [[{{Jerkass}} Meeko]] does in this movie.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}}'': When Flynn and Rapunzel seem to be about to kiss near the end of the floating lanterns scene, Pascal turns pink and covers his eyes. Kinda subverted, though, when he immediately peeks between his fingers.
* Parodied in ''WesternAnimation/{{Tarzan}}'', when Jane sketches a rendition of Tarzan on a blackboard and begins staring wistfully into the drawing.
-->'''Professor:''' Oh, shall I leave you and the... ''blackboard'' alone for a moment?
* In ''WesternAnimation/WallE'', M-O shoos the reject bots away from EVE and WALL•E as they're reunited. In a nice bit of ParentalBonus, you can see one of the bots in the background peek back and try to watch before being dragged off by M-O.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* A lot of the Creator/RogerMoore [[Franchise/JamesBond Bond]] films end with Bond trying to get lucky, being interrupted by his superiors trying to get in touch with him, and him enforcing this trope.
* In ''Film/TheAmericanPresident'', when President Shephard and Sydney Ellen Wade are about to reconcile, A.J. announces, "If anyone needs me, I'll be in the Lincoln bedroom, giving oxygen to Lewis."
* ''Film/BatmanTheMovie'': Bruce and Kitka's making out prompts Robin to turn the hidden camera off. Not to mention the kissing couple in the opening credits. And in a fairly extreme example, Batman refrains from [[DunkingTheBomb dropping]] the CartoonBomb on the couple in the rowboat.
* In ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger'', as Steve Rogers is trying to pilot the ''Valkyre'' after beating the Red Skull, Peggy Carter takes over the radio from Jim Morita, with Col. Phillips behind both of them in the control room. As Steve and Peggy try to find a safe landing for him, Phillips realizes what's happening and quietly tells Morita to leave them alone for their last contact.
* 1947 ''Film/{{Cinderella|1947}}'': The king announces the wedding, but as the Prince and Zolushka hold hands and gaze at each other, the Prince notes that Zolushka hasn't said she loves him. The king then ushers everyone out of the room, saying that he hates it when gawkers intrude on romantic resolutions, and that's the last we see of the prince and Zolushka/Cinderella.
* In ''Film/{{Fireproof}}'', Kirk Cameron's character's best friend shoos the other firemen away from the door in order to let the protagonist and his wife enjoy their reconciliation in peace.
* In ''Film/TheFrighteners'', the ghosts Stuart and Cyrus reappear to Frank just as he's embracing Lucy. Stuart smiles and seems content to watch, but Cyrus shoos him away saying "This shit's like walking in on your parents".
* ''Film/HarryPotter'':
** ''Film/HarryPotterAndTheOrderOfThePhoenix'': Ron, Hermione, and the rest of Dumbledore's Army pull one of these as Harry confronts Cho at Christmas.
** ''Film/HarryPotterAndTheHalfBloodPrince'': When Ron has been poisoned and is unconscious, he whispers Hermione's name without waking up. Everyone else quickly leaves.
--->'''Dumbledore:''' Let's go, everyone. Mister Weasely is well tended to.\
'''Ginny:''' About time, don't you think?\
'''Harry:''' Yeah.\
'''Hermione:''' ''[holding Ron's hand and smiling]'' Oh, shut up.
* [[BadassInANiceSuit Arthur]] tries to invoke this with Ariadne in ''Film/{{Inception}}'' when [[spoiler: Fischer's projections are looking for him]]. It doesn't work, but it's [[ShipTease very smooth on Arthur's part]].
-->'''Arthur:''' Quick, give me a kiss.
-->[She kisses him and then looks around]
-->'''Ariadne:''' They're still looking at us.
-->'''Arthur:''' Yeah, it was worth a shot.
* ''Film/TheMatrixReloaded'': Link, Neo, Trinity, and the Kid are all on an elevator together. When the door opens, Link says, "Let's go, Kid. These two got things to do." As soon as the door closes again, Neo and Trinity start kissing.
* ''Film/MeanGirls'' invokes this trope hilariously when Damian whispers "Man candy, stage right!" and grabs Janice to run off while Aaron comes over to Cady. They then completely subvert the trope by running back seconds later, kidnapping one of Cady's certificates to a pancake house, and then leave again.
-->'''Janice''': ''(grabs the certificate)'' Thanks, suckah!
-->'''Damian''': PEACE! ''(they run off)''
* In ''Film/SenseAndSensibility'', when Eleanor bursts out crying at the news that Edward [[spoiler:is not married]], her mother and sisters look at each other, gobsmacked for a moment, and then hurriedly vacate the room.
* Played with in ''Film/SpiderMan1,'' when Peter Parker and Mary Jane visit Aunt May in the hospital. Since she's in a hospital bed, Aunt May cannot leave, but in order to give Peter and Mary Jane some time to talk she pretends to be asleep.
* Jokingly referred to in ''Film/StarTrekFirstContact'' when Deanna walks in on Picard showing Data how feeling the prototype warp ship ''Phoenix'' helps him appreciate it.
--> '''Deanna:''' Would you three like to be alone?
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
%% * ''Literature/ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents'': Snicket to the readers in ''The Slippery Slope''.
* In ''[[Literature/AbramsDaughters Abram's Daughters]]'', an Amish romance/Christian fiction series, all the courtships are conducted in secrecy in keeping with Amish custom. Even close family members can only guess who is seeing whom.
* In the novelization of ''Film/DeadPoetsSociety'', Nuwanda asks them to show the garden to the second girl. The ones who understand quickly push the others outside.
* In ''Literature/DragonBlood'', the protagonists all innocently point out that Ward ''has'' to share a tent with the woman he's in love with ... for perfectly rational reasons, of course. It is simply the most efficient tent-sharing option. Or so they tell him. He's a bit shy about it, but his lover likes the idea.
* ''Literature/{{Emma}}'': After the autumn full of courtship, Emma tries to leave Mr Elton and Harriet Smith alone together several times to give him an opportunity to confess his love to Harriet. Harriet doesn't get it and often joins Emma again. And it's soon revealed that Mr Elton is not in love with ''Harriet''.
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** Hermione in ''Literature/HarryPotterAndTheOrderOfThePhoenix'' leaves, and drags the less perceptive Ron away with her--to give Harry time alone with Cho.
** Hermione leaves the scene in ''[[Literature/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallows Deathly Hallows]]'' to allow Ginny to give Harry his birthday present. Unfortunately, this time Ron got away from her.
* In ''Literature/AHatFullOfSky'', Miss Tick makes a big deal out of [[INeedToGoIronMyDog going to look at "a very fine and interesting example of... a big stone]]" when Roland wants to talk to Tiffany. Tiffany, who doesn't feel that way about Roland at all, is not happy with the implication.
* In ''Literature/HonorHarrington'' by a Mesan Alliance agent, who takes advantage of the fact that he's publicly engaged to his (secret) contact to get privacy in which to report to her.
* In Creator/JohnCWright's ''[[Literature/TheGoldenOecumene The Golden Transcendence]]'', when Phaethon reunites with Daphne, Helion and Atkins turn away on their own, but must make Diomedes leave them all; Diomedes, coming from the asexual Neputanians, finds it very interesting to watch.
* In Creator/LMMontgomery's ''Literature/AnneOfGreenGables'' series, Marilla at one point leaves Gilbert and Anne alone together. Anne sees right through it and is furious with her because she and Gilbert are JustFriends.
* In ''Literature/TheLostWorld1995'', Thorne uses this as an excuse to get everyone except Sarah and Ian out of the trailers, not long before the parent T-rexes appear and push the trailers over a cliff.
* ''Literature/PrideAndPrejudice'':
** When Mr. Collins tries to get Lizzy to marry him, Mrs. Bennet, picking up on his intentions, is all too eager to shoo her daughters out and clear the room. Lizzy, who also knows what's coming up and ''really'' wants to avoid it if at all possible, frantically begs her to stay where she's at.
** Mrs. Bennet tries to send everyone off in a painfully obvious fashion, in hopes that Mr. Bingley will finally propose to Jane. The funny comes when Mrs. Bennet attempts to make "subtle" let's-get-out-of-here motions to her daughter Kitty... who doesn't understand what her mother's up to and naively (and loudly) [[IDoNotSpeakNonverbal asks her mother why she's winking at her]] in such a strange fashion.
** Mr. Bingley cheerfully asks Mrs. Bennet to suggest a ''nice long walk'' for Darcy and Elizabeth to go on, and then immediately suggests that Kitty would not want to go with them, in a manner that can only be considered subtle when compared to Mrs. Bennet.
* ''Literature/TheSunneInSplendour'': [[UsefulNotes/EdwardIV Ned]] has taken pains to unite young widow Anne with her sweetheart, his little brother [[UsefulNotes/RichardIII Richard]], after the young lovers were torn apart in a LoveAcrossBattlelines scenario. When Ned sees how the two are looking at each other, he says that he's about as welcome as case of the pox and leaves the two alone.
* ''Literature/VampireHigh'': After Cody and Ileana have gotten together at the end, they walk back together with Justin, who walks ahead to give them privacy. Cody is internally appreciative of this.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* ''Series/{{Bridgerton}}'': In the ending of season 2, after officially married, Anthony and Kate joins in the Pall Mall game with their siblings. Despite competing each other, they end up kissing in front of the Bridgerton family (including Lady Danbury) and one by one of Anthony's siblings start to leave them alone.
** ''Series/QueenCharlotteABridgertonStory'': In episode 3, after Charlotte and George briefly argued while dining, they suddenly kiss and let themselves consumed by their passion. Brimsley and Reynolds followed by the other servants start to clear up the room and close the door.
* PlayedForLaughs in ''Series/CriminologistHimuraAndMysteryWriterArisugawa'' after Himura is hospitalized. After a comedic moment with the cast, Tokie suggests that they leave the two "young'uns" alone. The two women that Himura has had ShipTease with -- Akemi and Komachi -- respond to her, only for Tokie to clarify that she was talking about Himura and [[HomoeroticSubtext Arisugawa]] (who reacts with bafflement). The two then have a tender, though not romantic, moment together.
* ''Series/Daredevil2015'': By the start of season 2, Matt Murdock and Karen Page are becoming a bit more attracted to each other, often flirting whenever they're alone or Foggy steps aside to handle something else. Finally, by "Penny and Dime," when the trio is leaving Josie's after watching the news of Frank Castle's arrest, Foggy makes an early departure clearly intent on giving Matt and Karen [[RelationshipUpgrade a moment]].
-->'''Foggy Nelson:''' Careful, Matt.
-->'''Matt Murdock:''' What's that?
-->'''Foggy Nelson:''' You keep going like this, you just might end up happy. And for a Catholic boy, that's a pretty dangerous thing.
-->'''Matt Murdock:''' [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend I don't know what you're talking about.]] ''[Foggy pats him on the shoulder]''
-->'''Foggy Nelson:''' Godspeed, Matt Murdock. ''[Karen comes out]''
-->'''Karen Page:''' Hey! Where next?
-->'''Foggy Nelson:''' Home. I'm gonna sleep for a week. Someone had the awful idea of doing shots! ''[Karen giggles as Foggy removes his newspaper from his briefcase to use as an umbrella]'' I think I've had enough excitement for one evening.
-->'''Karen Page:''' 'Kay...
-->'''Foggy Nelson:''' See you two in the morning! ''[dashes off into the rain]''
-->'''Matt Murdock:''' See ya, Fog.
-->'''Karen Page:''' Bye!
-->''[Karen smiles at Matt. She looks up at the sky and then sticks her left hand out to see how hard the rain is coming down]''
-->'''Karen Page:''' [[HappyRain Do you mind the rain?]]
-->'''Matt Murdock:''' No. ''[Karen slips her right hand into his left hand, lacing her fingers with his]''
-->'''Karen Page:''' [[RomanticRain Then I'll walk you home.]] ''[Karen giggles as she leads Matt away]''
* The ''Series/DoctorWho'' episode "Hell Bent" includes a unique variant of this trope. The Doctor has just revealed to Clara that he spent 4 1/2 ''billion'' years in a bespoke torture chamber, in order to create the circumstance where [[spoiler: she could be pulled out of time a moment before her death]]. Clara is thunderstruck by this revelation and appears to undergo a form of LoveRevelationEpiphany, leading her to tell the Doctor that there is something important she must tell him. As she starts, the camera pans away from them and in fact leaves the vicinity completely; we are treated to a lovely view of Gallifrey's citadel and a reprise of Clara's {{leitmotif}} and when we return, Clara has said her piece.
** Referenced in "School Reunion" in reference to the Doctor/TARDIS CargoShip, as Rose and Sarah Jane discuss the Doctor's pecadillos:
--->'''Sarah Jane''': Does he still...stroke parts of the TARDIS?\
'''Rose'''''(laughing)'': Yes, yes! I'm like, "Do you two want to be left alone?"
** Played with at the end of "Amy's Choice", when Amy and Rory exchange TheBigDamnKiss.
--->'''Doctor''': So, where to now? Or do you want me to pop down to the swimming pool for a few lengths?
* In ''Series/{{Dollhouse}}'', Echo starts helping Bennet with the reconstruction of Caroline's wedge, but quickly makes an excuse to leave the room once Topher joins them. [[spoiler:It doesn't end well. (Although in Bennet's final moments, she and Topher ''did'' have a RelationshipUpgrade.)]]
* In the ''Series/{{Firefly}}'' episode "Jaynestown", Simon and Kaylee are getting drunk in the bar and basically having a Moment. [[TheCaptain Mal]] comes up to them and almost [[MomentKiller ruins the mood]] by telling them it's time to leave and come up with a plan. When Kaylee meaningfully tells him that "things are going well," he [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold tells them to stay in the bar together to keep an eye on Jayne.]] Of course, Mal ''does'' ruin the mood the next morning by kicking them awake from their SleepCute position.
* ''Series/{{Forever|2014}}'':
** When Henry comes home in "The Ecstasy of Agony" to find Abe and his twiceover-ex Maureen dancing and laughing, he quietly reverses course and leaves his son to enjoy the evening undisturbed.
** After a murder attempt interrupts Jo and Isaac's date in "Dead Men Tell Long Tales," they're debriefed at the station. [[ShipperOnDeck Lieutenant Reece]] gives Jo extravagant credit for saving Isaac's life, then makes up an excuse for her and Hanson to step out into the hallway, leaving Jo and Isaac alone together.
* ''Series/{{Friends}}'': After everyone (finally) finds out about Monica and Chandler, Joey doesn't even offer an excuse and just quotes this trope word for word. Ross, Monica's older brother, is not amused.
* ''Series/GameOfThrones'': Bronn quickly excuses himself in "Baelor" when Tyrion and Shae begin to get busy ''while he's still there''.
* ''Series/GilmoreGirls:'' Luke goes out on a date, and Jess, his 18-year-old nephew who lives with him, attempts to make himself scarce so they can have some time alone. It takes awhile for Luke to catch on, and when he does, he's mortified, dragging Jess outside to have a word (in full view of said date) and giving him a DopeSlap.
-->'''Jess''': I guess I'm not going out for about an hour.\
'''Luke:''' Say goodnight, Jess.\
'''Jess:''' I don't understand you, man.\
'''Luke:''' My mystique is part of my charm.\
'''Jess:''' You at least want me to take a walk around the block?\
'''Luke:''' Jess.\
'''Jess:''' Take an extra long shower?\
'''Luke:''' Go upstairs.\
'''Jess:''' ''(to Luke's date)'' Sorry, I tried.
* ''Series/{{Leverage}}'': When Parker is jealous of Hardison's attraction to one of their clients, Sophie tells Parker she should confess her feelings and leaves them alone together. Parker CannotSpitItOut, but Hardison understands and basically lets her know that he's willing to wait.
* ''Series/LukeCage2016'': Luke is eating breakfast with Bobby Fish at the diner where Claire's mom works. When Claire drops by and approaches Luke, he has a hard time remembering where he last met her (given [[Recap/JessicaJones2015S1E13AKASmile the circumstances]]). When he does finally recognize her, Bobby immediately reads the mood and decides to leave the two alone.
* In a third season episode of ''Series/{{Merlin|2008}},'' Arthur tries to signal to Merlin that he wants some alone time with Guinevere. Merlin ends up running off in a fake panic about wolves in the forest.
* On ''{{Series/NCIS}}'', [=McGee=] does to Tony and Ziva in "Reunion." After Ziva suggests something to solve the case Tony and [=McGee=] are working on, Tony and Ziva end up having [[HeldGaze an intimate staring contest]]. [=McGee=] awkwardly excuses himself from the room with an INeedToIronMyDog excuse.
-->'''[=McGee=]:''' And... I'm gonna go do that... after I get a Nutter Butter. ''(eye-roll, leaves)''
%% ** [=McGee=] with Ms. Hart and Gibbs.
%% -->'''[=McGee=]:''' (awkwardly): I am... going to go get a haircut.'' ([=McGee=] leaves)''
* In ''Series/{{Numb3rs}}'' Charlie and Amita use this trope to give Larry the opportunity to ask Megan out.
-->'''Charlie''': Hey, you said we were supposed to do something earlier, remember?
-->'''Amita''': What?
-->'''Charlie''': Ya'know, you said it let's go.
-->'''Amita''': R-right! Bye! (both leave)
-->'''Megan''': What was that all about?
-->'''Larry''': [[LampshadeHanging A very crude attempt at lending privacy.]]
* The Power Rangers are all used to sitting together, so when Tommy and Katherine are on a date in one episode of ''[[Series/PowerRangersZeo Zeo]]'', Tanya has to stop the other Rangers from joining them at their table.
* ''Series/QueenForSevenDays'': Invoked when Lee Yeok shoos one of his friends away so he and Chae-gyeong can be alone.
* ''Series/RadioEnfer'': In the Season 1 finale's final scene, Carl decides to make everyone except Léo and Camille leave the room so that his cousin could finally reveal his feelings to his crush.
* In ''Series/{{Smallville}}'', Chloe often excuses herself to get some privacy for Clark and Lana.
* On an episode of ''Series/ThirdRockFromTheSun'', when Tommy's girlfriend comes over, Dick and Sally make obvious, hasty exits to give them space alone in the living room, but Harry doesn't seem to be aware of this trope until:
--> '''Tommy:''' Um, Harry?
--> '''Harry:''' Hmmm? Oh, I was just trying to stagger my exit, for a more NATURAL effect. (gets up and strolls out of the room casually whistling)
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas' "Little Children" was about a wannabe Romeo trying to convince his girlfriend's siblings to leave the two of them alone.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theater]]
* ''Theatre/CyranoDeBergerac'': Cyrano invokes this trope in Act II Scene V when Roxane and her Duenna meet him at the bakery of the poets (Roxane's Duenna is supposed to be her chaperone). Cyrano bribes the Duenna with pastries and asks her to eat them in the street, so he can have some privacy with Roxane.
--> '''Cyrano''' ''(filling her arms with the bags):'' Pleasure me then; go eat them all in the street.
--> '''The Duenna:''' But...
--> '''Cyrano''' ''(pushing her out):'' And come not back till the very last crumb be eaten!
--> ''(He shuts the door, comes down toward Roxane, and, uncovering, stands at a respectful distance from her.)''
** Then, right in the middle of their emotionally-charged conversation:
--->'''The Duenna:''' (re-entering) "I've finished the cakes, monsieur!"
--->'''Cyrano:''' "Then go out and read the poetry!"
* Tragic variant in ''Theatre/LaBoheme'': Rodolfo is tending to the dying Mimi, and Colline goes out to sell his coat for medicine. As he leaves, he asks Schaunard to come along:
-->'''Colline:''' Schaunard, each in a different way, let us put together two acts of kindness. I, this; and you--leave them alone together!
* Doc makes this speech in the third act of ''Theatre/TheMostHappyFella'', which leads into "Song of a Summer Night." After the song, Tony and Rosabella are indeed left alone, though they have a nasty lover's quarrel instead.
* In ''Theatre/ThePiratesOfPenzance'', the sisters want to give Frederic and Mabel privacy but don't want to leave them unchaperoned. So they decide to "shut their eyes and TalkAboutTheWeather" in the form of a very silly patter song. (While peeking.)
* Used hilariously by Ben Franklin in ''Theatre/SeventeenSeventySix'' when Martha Jefferson arrives to "cheer up" her husband.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', just after Tidus and Yuna share TheBigDamnKiss, Kimahri is revealed to be watching from the shoreline. He smiles, then just turns and leaves to give them some privacy.
* In a chapter of ''VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade'', the party decides to split up to avoid attracting attention, leaving Eliwood and Ninian alone. Even though it was Eliwood who called for everyone to separate, Lyn was going for this trope and dragging along an oblivious Hector. It could even work as a twofer use of this trope, depending on who you [[ShipToShipCombat ship]].
** In ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemPathOfRadiance Path of Radiance]]'', Ranulf teasingly considers enacting this trope, though he is already interrupting Ike and Elincia's [[MomentKiller moment alone]].
-->'''Unknown (Ranulf)''': Oooh, what a romantic setting. Makes it hard to make an appearance! I guess I could just leave you two...
* A more subtle moment in ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsI'': when Sora meets with Kairi at the secret waterway in Traverse Town, Donald and Goofy quietly walk off screen to let the two have their conversation alone.
** Similarly in the Re Mind campaign of ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII'', when Sora and Kairi initally land in The Final World, Chirithy is absent. When Sora calls out for him, he suddenly appears and explains he was giving them some privacy.
* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfDragoon'', Dart and Rose are lost overboard after the party visits the haunted ship. When they rejoin the party everyone yells at Dart to get upstairs and see Shana. Meru declares herself the official guard to keep anyone from interrupting the two lovebirds. She herself is then caught spying at the door, her justification being she has no knowledge of romantic relationships and is trying to learn more about them. Cue a very embarrassed Meru being caught when Dart opens the door.
* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess,'' Renado, Cor Goron, and the Ordon kids all leave the room when [[spoiler: Ilia regains her memories of Link]]. [[DatePeepers Except for Talo]], until Beth yanks him away from the window.
* In the ''VideoGame/MassEffect2'' DLC module "Lair of the Shadow Broker," after the Shadow Broker's dealt with and Shepard and Liara start talking about their relationship again, Feron and Shepard's other companion beat a hasty retreat to leave them alone.
* At a big celebration party in ''VideoGame/{{Okami}}'', the player can sneak into Sakuya's tree and discover Kushi and Susano (the brewer and the lush, how fitting!) enjoying the scenery. However, there's no one to stop you from interrupting, save a few pointed remarks from the couple - in the end, Issun has to do the job himself and scold Ammy into leaving.
* ''VideoGame/Persona4'': If Yu romances one of his female friends, then everyone else will leave to give them some privacy during one event near the end of the game.
** If Joker romances someone in ''VideoGame/Persona5'', Sojiro and Morgana will leave the cafe so they can have some alone time on Valentines day. Depending on who Joker romances they'll say some words out the door. If Joker romances Futaba, Sojiro warns him not to try anything funny with his daughter. If romancing Ann, Morgana is clearly downtrodden due to his own infatuation with her but leaves all the same. If romancing Kawakami, Sojiro has to take a moment to realize she's his date and leaves both surprised and impressed that student/teacher relations actually happen in real life.
* ''VideoGame/PotionPermit'': In Reyner's third Friendship Event, Runeheart finds out that he's crushing on the Chemist and says that he claimed that he was sick just so the Chemist can see him again. Runeheart then laughs and teases him that she'll leave the two of them alone.
* ''VideoGame/SengokuBasara'' likes playing this one for laughs with resident SickeninglySweethearts Toshiie Maeda and his wife Matsu. When one rescues the other from Yukimura at one point, they get so romantic he becomes embarrassed and wonders if he should leave them alone and come back later.
** In a separate incident in ''Samurai Heroes'', after fighting the player army to a standstill for a time by constantly healing each other with food, the couple exchange compliments and retreat, prompting an allied general to muse "I wonder where they're going?" followed by a cutscene of the camera panning over secluded storehouses, flirty laughter in the background... [[spoiler: they're having a picnic.]]
* Happens twice in ''VideoGame/{{Solatorobo}}''. Once, Elh scolds Red for having no sense when [[spoiler:Béluga gives Merveille a hologram of flowers]] and drags him out of the room. The lovebirds in question don't seem to notice. The second time, Chocolat refuses to allow [[spoiler:Opéra, Cyan, and Princess Theria]] to open the door, [[spoiler:when Red and Elh make up after he got fangirled to death by Theria, Alicia, and Toffee]] after winning the Prairie Kingdom Cup. Unfortunately, this time the door is rather thin and Chocolat is being a little loud, so the two overhear her just fine and are a little embarrassed.
* In ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'', [[spoiler:near the end of the game, Luke and Tear share a moment on the Albiore's deck while Noelle keeps Mieu from spying on them.]]
* In the first ''VideoGame/GalaxyAngel'', the final scene of Ranpha's route has her sitting on Tact's lap while he's on the commander's chair on the bridge (which she decorated with a bunch of flowers and curtains to make it a "love nest"). When the two start getting lovey-dovey with each other, [[BridgeBunnies Coco and Almo]] read the mood and decide to leave the bridge, followed quickly by Lester who doesn't want to deal with the couple either.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* ''VisualNovel/CafeEnchante'':
** After being worn out by his spell to seal the Amasaki Island wormhole, Misyr collapses on the beach from exhaustion and happens to pull down Kotone with him. The lone Kuurey, who was also with them, discreetly leaves to allow them some time alone.
** In Misyr's route, when he and Kotone were laughing and teasing each other in the café, Il happened to come down the stairs to see them and murmured to himself that the scene reminded him of [[spoiler: the two angels who taught him about love]]. Il was simply beaming when Kotone asked why he was smiling and Il happily declared he would return to his room to leave them alone.
* ''VisualNovel/CollarXMalice'':
** In Enomoto's route. Yanagi and Sasazuka seems to find convenient excuses to leave the agency so Enomoto and Ichika can spend time alone together.
** In Yanagi's route, Ichika gets invited out to the bar with Sakuragawa and Mukai on Christmas Eve and once the other two women realize that Ichika has feelings for someone, they egg her to bring him over and once Yanagi arrives, the two quickly leave the bar, leaving her and Yanagi alone.
* On Emi's route in ''VisualNovel/KatawaShoujo'', if [[PlayerCharacter Hisao]] [[spoiler: talks to Emi's mom instead of confronting Emi about her issues, Hisao wants to talk to Emi about her problems but has no opportunity to, or any way to approach the topic without Emi [[INeedToGoIronMyDog making an excuse and bolting]]. One day, during lunch break, [[CloudCuckooLander Rin]] directly tells Emi that Hisao is worried about her, then leaves the two in privacy. It works, and Hisao makes a mental note to thank Rin for it.]]

[[folder:Webcomics]]
* In [[http://egscomics.com/?date=2006-09-20 this strip]] from ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'', Grace removes herself (and Tedd) from the balcony as [[spoiler: Nanase and Ellen]] are about to upgrade.
* An unusual case: in ''Webcomic/{{Fans}}'', the first night that Rumy stayed with Rikk and Ally after the three of them decided to resolve their love triangle by [[MarryThemAll Rikk having a relationship with Rumy as well as Ally]], Ally loudly announced that she would be studying for her nursing exams with death metal playing on her iPod, while Rikk and Rumy were together in the bedroom.
-->'''Ally''': Was 'at too subtle?
-->'''Rikk''': It erred on the side of clarity.
-->'''Ally''': Then one more thing, 'cause I know you. Do not check up on me if y' think she's asleep. You need to make her your world tonight. You both need to trust I'm as cool with this as I say I am. I know that's tough for you, but [[EarnYourHappyEnding happy endings ain't for wimps.]]
* In ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'', it's not because the others are nice, but [[http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20100906 because they are scared to stay]].
* In ''Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt'', Annie [[http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=245 skillfully extracts herself]] from Kat and Alistair's presence.
** Later on, Kat [[http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=786 skillfully extracts Annie and herself]] from Andrew and Parley's presence.
* Emotionally discreet as [[TheSpock Vaarsuvius]] is, s/he still is the one to have everyone vacate the room where Elan and Haley are about to share their first kiss in ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick''.
* In ''Webcomic/{{Inverloch}}'', Neirenn drags Acheron out to fetch water (when she could easily conjure some with magic) so that Varden and Lei'ella can have a private chat [[spoiler:as Lei'ella recovers from nearly being killed]]. Of course, Neirenn sneaks back to ''eavesdrop'' a minute later.
* ''Webcomic/KiwiBlitz'': 42 [[https://www.kiwiblitz.com/comic/page-301 turns away politely]] during Steffi and Ben's first kiss, with an UnsoundEffect of "courtesy".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Original]]
* Attempted in episode 35 of ''WebVideo/CriticalRole'', when the rest of Vox Machina tries to give Vax and Keyleth a moment alone by Whitestone's Sun Tree. Only none of their players can leave the table, so instead they all hide their faces in their hands and clothes.
* In ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}''. when Nora notices Jaune and Pyrrha alone together she immediately drags Ren on a different path to make sure they won't interrupt them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
%% * ''WesternAnimation/{{Chowder}}'' with a ''casserole and a stink cloud''.
* Jake suggests this trope in ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' between Finn and Flame Princess when Finn asked if he wanted to join in on the fun.
* In ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'''s "Routine," Odd seems to have disappeared when Ulrich saves Yumi. It is unknown if he had seen Ulrich and Yumi [[AlmostKiss almost kiss]] or if he was busy with monsters on Lyoko. One implication is that he had seen it, given that he ribs his roommate by saying "It wasn't all that boring on Lyoko, was it, Ulrich?"
* In season 3 of ''WesternAnimation/TheDragonPrince'' Nyx shrugs and walks off screen when she catches on that Callum and Rayla are having a [[RelationshipUpgrade moment]].
* ''WesternAnimation/MyAdventuresWithSuperman'': Invoked by Jimmy at the end of episode 7, once he, Clark, and Lois safely return to [[spoiler: their dimension]]. Jimmy quickly excuses himself while the happy couple share another kiss. After which, Lois asks [[AffectionateNickname "Smallville"]] to treat her to a cup of coffee.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' episode "Through the Looking Glass Ruins", Luz visits the local library to see Amity only to stumble upon Edric and Emira, [[ShipperOnDeck both of whom by that point can already see]] [[TwiceShy the growing romantic tension between the former two]]. Once Luz and Amity meet, Emira attempts to excuse herself and Edric by claiming that she needs to help him clean some boils off his face so he won't get dumped by his date later tonight. [[ComicallyMissingThePoint When Edric fails to get the hint]], she just drags him off so the other two can be alone.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' episode "Happy Birthday, Isabella", Ferb goes away so that Phineas and Isabella can spend some time alone.
* Usually early on in ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'', Rigby would constantly make fun of Mordecai for his attempts to go out with Margaret. However, he showed that he truly does care about his friend and his romantic life in “Butt Dial” by shooing himself and Pops out of the room so he and Margaret can have a moment alone together.
* Early in the ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' episode "Bubble Buddies", Steven asks the other Crystal Gems not to spy on him trying to talk to a girl he wants to get to know because it'll "mess up my funky flow". At the end of the episode, Amethyst and Pearl rush to introduce themselves to Steven's new friend Connie, only for Garnet to drag them away, telling them "[[BrickJoke Don't mess with his funky flow]]."
* ''WesternAnimation/XMenTheAnimatedSeries:'' In "The Dark Phoenix Saga, part 4", Scott and Rogue are talking on the Shi'ar ship when Jean shows up. Rogue immediately knows she's a third wheel and amscrays.
-->'''Rogue:''' My daddy always said "two's company and three's an eavesdropper".
