Looks like your audience needs some convincing that things are awesome, and that's where the announcers come in. Adding a classic sports play-by-play or color-commentary announcer, or a movie trailer-type announcer is an easy way to make anything more dramatic, more exciting, more thrilling. LargeHam announcers are particularly effective. For a variant, rather than one of the loud announcer styles, you can go with the whispering golf-announcer style instead.

See also InAWorld For being applied to works of fiction, see LemonyNarrator. In video games, this is particularly common in CompetitiveMultiplayer, with the announcer belting out the IdiosyncraticComboLevels as the player racks up a KillStreak. May overlap with CuckoolanderCommentator. Compare LargeHamRadio and the HammyHerald.

* Creator/DonLaFontaine is probably the TropeMaker.

* Mark Elliot for Disney trailers.
* Lenne Hardt is noteworthy for her [[NoIndoorVoice bombastic voice]] and penchant for [[TrrrillingRrrs rolling her R's]] as the ring announcer for various Japanese MMA organizations such as PRIDE Fighting Championships, for which she is affectionately known by fans as the "Crazy PRIDE Lady". She also lends her unique talents in some anime and video games, including ''Manga/FlyMeToTheMoon'', ''VideoGame/Yakuza0'', and ''VideoGame/Tekken8''.

* Whoever it is that does the announcing for commercials for "FOREMAN MILLS!" discount store.
* Phil Swift, inventor of Flex Seal: "Wow! That's a lot of damage!"
* Creator/VingRhames and his UsefulNotes/{{Arbys}} commercials: "WE HAVE THE MEATS!"
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Anime and Manga]]
%% no generic entries please * Many 70s-80s {{Mecha}} shows.
* Nobuyuki Fukumoto's ''Manga/{{Akagi}}'' and ''Manga/{{Kaiji}}'' both have hammy narration that plays up the suspense in their high-stakes games.
* The World Tournament announcer in ''Manga/DragonBall'', though he's more subdued in private.
* The original ''Anime/FistOfTheNorthStar''. Notable because Creator/ShigeruChiba, the actor doing the narration for the "next time" bumpers, gradually became ''more'' of a LargeHam little by little, just to see how much he could get away with; he goes from "stern but forceful" to "screaming the entire thing at the top of his lungs" by the end of the series.
* ''Anime/FutureGPXCyberFormula'', being a racing anime, has announcers that often shouted "goal in" whenever racers cross the finish line.
* ''Manga/HajimeNoIppo'': Justified since it's a boxing anime and, well, boxing matches have announcers.
* Benjamin Bright (voiced in full ham mode by Creator/TomKenny) from ''Anime/IGPXImmortalGrandPrix''.
* The ''VideoGame/InazumaEleven'' anime has AscendedExtra Kakuma Keita in this role, and later his father, who's a professional soccer announcer. It later turns out ItRunsInTheFamily.
* In ''Anime/LuckyStar'', the announcers on the bridge take Yui's race to pass some random vehicle who passed her and make it more awesome.
* ''Anime/MobileFighterGGundam'' has Stalker, TheNarrator who generally speaks calmly. At the end of his introduction to each episode, however, he'll take on a more excited tone and shout "GUNDAM FIGHT ALL SET! READY? GOOOO!"
* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'': Present Mic acts as this during the U.A. entrance exams and the Sports Festival. Thanks to his [[MakeMeWannaShout Voice Quirk]], he doesn't even need a microphone.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'': Gyats, the announcer of the Corrida Colosseum, is always shouting his announcement and commentary.
%%* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries''
* ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'' provides the page picture with the Master of Ceremonies. So dedicated is he to his hammy announcing that when the city is evacuating in case the BigBad defeats Yusei and destroys Neo Domino, he returns to his post to commentate on the duel and make sure the people know what's happening.
* ''Anime/YuGiOhArcV'' has Nico Smiley. When the show did its Synchro Dimension arc that was an homage to ''[=5Ds=]'', the announcer for the city's duels was a new character, Melissa, and not the MC (much to the disappointment of fans).
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* [[VideoGame/Splatoon2 Pearl]] gives an impression of one in Chapter 7 of ''Fanfic/IveGotYourBack'' while [[ItMakesSenseInContext leading Marina through a mock motorcycle race]], using a spatula as a microphone.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* Al Michaels and Creator/BobCostas in ''{{Film/Baseketball}},'' perhaps so because they are usually shown in-scene.
--> '''Al Michaels:''' ''LAY''-zeee-boy has PAHPPED!
* The announcers in ''Film/BestInShow'' make the dog show even funnier, especially as they're an OddCouple - one a genteel English dog-breeding expert and the other a desperately misplaced American Football commentator.
* ''Film/DodgeballATrueUnderdogStory'' notably does '''something''' to this trope -- possibly Administrivia/NotASubversion -- by having announcers make everything ''funnier''. Jason Bateman's character in particular is an absolute riot.
* ''Film/{{Gladiator}}'': Cassius (David Hemmings), the Coliseum's announcer, who also wears a silly looking red haired wig. He ''has'' to be grandiose to be heard in the Coliseum when introducing GladiatorGames and spectacular battle recreations.
* ''Film/MadMaxBeyondThunderdome''. Dr. Dealgood introduces the fights in TheThunderdome, and The Wheel used to judge Max later on. His role is not just to rev up the crowd, but to remind them of why they have these things in the first place: the Thunderdome is to ensure that conflicts and disputes don't pass beyond those who had the original grievance, while the Wheel acknowledges that justice has more to do with random chance.
-->'''Dr. Dealgood:''' Now, when men get to fighting, it happens here, and it finishes here! Two men enter, one man leaves. ''(Crowd chants: "Two men enter, one man leaves" until Dealgood signals them for silence)'' And now, I've got two men; two men with a gut full of fear. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... dying time's here.
* In ''Film/Plan9FromOuterSpace'', the short narration by The Amazing Criswell at the beginning of the movie.
* ''Franchise/StarWars Episode One: Film/ThePhantomMenace'': That two-headed announcer for the podraces wouldn't shut up about how awesome everything was. And, funnily enough, the podrace announcer speaking Basic was voiced by Creator/GregProops, who was also [[VideoGame/MadWorld Howard "Buckshot" Holmes]].
%%* In ''Film/TheWizard'', the Videogame Armageddon announcer.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* In-universe example: In ''Literature/LittleGreenMen'', John O. Banion selects Creator/GeorgeCScott to announce his Sunday TV show, on the grounds that no other voice would "have such gravity as to suggest that if you missed the program, you were not a serious person."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* Burton Richardson, the announcer on ''Series/TheArsenioHallShow'', was known for drawing out the "O" in Arsenio's name to a ridiculously long extent.
* The Japanese automotive video series ''Series/BestMotoring'' was originally narrated by Akira Kamiya, a famous hammy anime voice actor.
* '''Creator/BrianBlessed''' as a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP11L9jRW94 snooker commenter.]] Manages to be both types at once.
* ''Series/{{Community}}'': PlayedForLaughs when Troy challenges Murray to a duel in the Sun Chamber. Air conditioning repair student Dennis tries to host the event while wearing a cape made of various insulation materials; he doesn't get far before [[EveryoneHasStandards fellow student Russo gets sick of his antics and takes over for him]].
-->'''Dennis:''' Well, boys and girls! I hope you brought your popsicles, because it's about to get ''scolding hot'' in the Sun Chamber! You already know the rules... ''BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANYYYYY!!!''\
'''Russo:''' ''(steals the mic from Dennis)'' Geez, Dennis, are you on coke?! Take that crap off and sit down!\
''(Dennis walks away dejected)''\
'''Russo:''' Sorry about that. ''Of course'' there are rules.
* Both of Creator/ConanOBrien's announcers: Joel Godard had a very grating case of NoIndoorVoice on ''Series/LateNight'', and Creator/AndyRichter follows suit on ''Series/{{Conan}}''.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ktiJUUBLPo "But naaaiii on the UTV..."]] - what viewers in UsefulNotes/NorthernIreland used to get before ''Series/CoronationStreet''.
* Marc Summers, the host of ''Series/{{Double Dare|1986}}''. He had to talk about things like giant PB&J sandwiches, human tacos, balloons filled with jelly, and banana split cars and make it all sound like an extreme sport. All while being obsessive/compulsive. Man's got balls.
** The show's off-screen announcer, Harvey, was plenty hammy himself, introducing the prizes for the winners in a "But wait - that's not all!" sort of voice and kicking off the show with a description of the opening scene that often descended to a HurricaneOfPuns.
* Steve Higgins also does a comedically exaggerated version of this as Creator/JimmyFallon's announcer.
* Alan Kalter for ''Series/TheLateShowWithDavidLetterman''.
%% needs more context * ''Series/NedsDeclassifiedSchoolSurvivalGuide'' does this.
* Peter Schickele's sportscast version of ''Beethoven's Fifth Symphony''.
* ''Series/PowerRangersJungleFury'' has Flit, [[ItMakesSenseInContext a fly that resides in]] [[TheDragon Camille]], who goes around being like this during the Zord battles. This became less frequent as the series progressed.
** And the parent, ''Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger'' had Bae, who fulfilled much the same role. He also took a back seat in later episodes but was certain to make an appearance any time a new mecha combination debuted.
** Suuuuuupaaaaaaaa [[TrrrillingRrrs Heeeeerrrrrroooooo]] Time! Starts now.
* Pretty much any GameShow that offers a large array of prizes has to have a dynamic announcer who can make even a waffle iron or digital clock-radio sound exciting. ''Series/ThePriceIsRight'' is a prime example, with Johnny Olson, Rod Roddy, Rich Fields, and George Gray all meeting this to some extent.
* Jonathan Pearce, a former UsefulNotes/AssociationFootball commentator, served as match commentator for all of the UK ''Series/RobotWars'' series, and clearly had a lot of fun with the job. He'd retain an enthusiastic and exuberant tone as standard, but would get especially animated (and even [[{{Corpsing}} burst into laughter]] in some cases) whenever something exciting happened in a match, such as when any of the competitors fell afoul of the House Robots. He'd also frequently [[LemonyNarrator crack jokes and make wry remarks]] about the robots and the teams that built them.
* ''Series/{{Rome}}'' featured Ian [=MacNiece=] at [[https://youtu.be/ueH3ihTN4OI full-throated bellow]] as the Forum news reader, with [[MilkingTheGiantCow melodramatic gestures to match]].
* Rome Kanda, especially as alter-ego Kei Kato on ''Series/UnbeatableBanzuke.''
* ''Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway'':
** A "Scenes from a Hat" sketch on had Ryan playing one of these on his day off:
--->''"I'll have a cheeseburger, some fries, and a COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE!"''\
''"You forgot my COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE!"''\
''[[RuleOfThree "Where the hell's my COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE?"]]''
** One "Let's Make a Date" sketch featured Brad as a game show prize announcer. Another "Date" sketch had him calling a monster truck rally.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOkgDFOyPxI Peter Dickson]] from ''Series/TheXFactor'' is so much like this it is a borderline parody.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* The Music/{{Starbomb}} song "SMASH!" features WebVideo/{{Markiplier}} as the voice of the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' announcer, a role he fills well.
-->''"Now, grab all your little friends, 'cause it is TIME FOR US TO [[PrecisionFStrike MOTHERFUCKING]] '''SMASH!'''"''
* DCI announcer Brandt Crocker can get pretty hammy during his corps introductions.
--> '''"PHAAAAAMMMMMMREJJMENT!!!!'''[[note]]Translation: Phantom Regiment[[/note]]
* The Music/WeirdAlYankovic parody song "I Lost on Jeopardy" features legendary Large Ham Announcer Don Pardo (from the first incarnation of ''Series/{{Jeopardy}}'', but these days probably better known as the original announcer on ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'') reading a list of the prizes that Al ''didn't'' win.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pinball]]
* The jousting announcer from ''Pinball/MedievalMadness''.
* The soccer announcer in ''Pinball/WorldCupSoccer'', of course. Since the play-by-play is provided Tim Kitzrow, Mr. ''VideoGame/NBAJam'' himself, the hamminess is hardly a surprise.
--> '''''"GOAAAAAAAAL!"'''''
* The announcer from ''Pinball/FlipperFootball'', unsurprisingly.
* ''[[VideoGame/ThreeDUltraPinballThrillRide 3-D Ultra Pinball: Thrill Ride]]'': Whenever the male announcer yells '''"THRILL ZONE!"'''
* The male announcer in ''Pinball/{{Rollergames}}'' is incapable of announcing anything in less than 90 decibels. Appropriately enough, he's voiced by designer Creator/SteveRitchie, who also voiced [[Franchise/MortalKombat Shao Khan.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Podcasts]]
* ''Podcast/PretendingToBePeople'' has Mick and Nick Nickles of [[GladiatorGames The Scrap Pit]], who gleefully announce the events of ongoing matches with little sense of decorum or human decency.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Professional Wrestling]]
* Professional Wrestling makes particular use of this trope, alternating between flat-out ''amazement'' at things they see [[OncePerEpisode every week]] and patter about the ongoing storylines. A few of the most memorable examples:
** "[[Wrestling/GorillaMonsoon It's the irresistible force meeting the immovable object!]]"
** "[[Wrestling/JimRoss Good God Almighty! Good God Almighty!]] [[Wrestling/TheUndertaker That]] [[Wrestling/HellinaCell killed]] [[Wrestling/MickFoley him!]] ([[Wrestling/JerryLawler Oh my God...]]) [[Wrestling/JimRoss As God is my witness, he is broken in half!]]"
** "Wrestling/HulkHogan, [[Wrestling/TonySchiavone you can go to Hell! Straight to Hell!]]" (at ''Bash at the Beach '96'')
** "[[Wrestling/MauroRanallo MAMMA MIA!!!]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Puppet Shows]]
* ''Series/FraggleRock'': The World's Oldest Fraggle enjoys the spotlight and never misses a chance to ham it up a little when presiding over ceremonies, meetings, and sporting events.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Radio]]
* ''Radio/OurMissBrooks'': In "The Grudge Match", Miss Brooks plays this trope to the hilt, sardonically giving a play-by-play of the boxing match between Stretch and Walter. Complete with faked commercials:
--> '''Miss Brooks''': As the fighters go the center of the ring, just a word of reminder. Boys, if like Walter Denton you're about to get your head knocked off, why not put an Adam patch on it first.
* Pete Smith would often do this on ''Radio/MartinMolloy''; often parodying his famous ''Series/SaleOfTheCentury'' introduction.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ComicBook/TheJoker takes up the role of announcer in ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamAsylum''. HilarityEnsues.
-->"Harley tells me [[CoolCar the Batman's car]] is still parked right outside Intensive Treatment. We can't have him up and leave us! Every thug, villain, murderer and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking kindergarten teacher]] that isn't carrying out party orders should head there now and smash it to pieces!"
* ''VideoGame/{{beatmania}} IIDX'' has a variety of announcers, ranging from the formal and polite to this trope. Notable examples include SUPER STAR MITSURU, the [[ManlyMan very manly]] default announcer of ''beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA'', and Icchou Mori in ''beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS'' who sounds like he's commentating a race (as befitting of the game's racing theme).
* ''[[Franchise/BlazBlue THE WHEEL OF FATE IS TURNING!]]'' '''[[Franchise/BlazBlue REBEL 1!]]''' '''''[[Franchise/BlazBlue ACTION!!!]]'''''
** Counter! Counter! Counter! Rapid! Fatal! Counter! ASTRAL FINISH!
** ''[=BlazBlue=]'' games also tend to have DLC that allows you to replace the announcer with any of the voice actors, both in ''and'' out of character, leading to a wide range of hamminess to choose from. Meanwhile, the default announcer for each game is always hammier and [[JapaneseRanguage worse at speaking English]] than the last one.
* ''TabletopGame/BloodBowl'':
** The video game that was released in 2010 would probably be a lot less amusing without the color commentary provided by two offscreen announcers: Bob Bifford, a former-player ogre and Jim Johnson, a nebbishy-sounding vampire. "''Ooh''! Bob, I haven't seen a hit like that since the time I walked in on an argument between you and your wife!" "What can I say, Jim, that little lady sure packs a punch!"
** The 2015 sequel brings the duo back, and they still have their moments. For instance, in the Campaign Mode:
--->'''Bob:''' I'm as excited as a Beastman in a unicorn pen, Jim! Who are they playing?\
'''Jim:''' Oh, you're not going to like it, Bob! It's ''Elves''-the Galadrieth Gladiators.\
'''Bob:''' (pounds the table)ZOGGIN' BELLS! Not those pointy-eared gits again!
** The dev's previous game ''[[SerialNumbersFiledOff Chaos League]]'' also uses two announcers: the professional StraightMan and his [[TheAlcoholic heavy-drinking]] counterpart who bears more than a passing resemblance to Rik Mayall.
* VideoGame/CapcomVs, especially the FountainOfMemes in ''VideoGame/CapcomVsSNK2MarkOfTheMillennium''. "''This battle is about to explode!'' '''FIGHT!'''"
* ''VideoGame/{{Cuphead}}'' has an announcer fitting of a 30's cartoon.
--> ''A brawl is surely brewing!'' '''''You're up!'''''
** In ''The Delicious Last Course'', the Moonshine Mob is lead by a snail who takes the announcer's place, calling out the start of the fight in a nasally voice. [[spoiler:Then he goes as far as to announce a ''[[VictoryFakeout fake]]'' "KNOCKOUT!", only to start attacking you while your guard is down. Once he is taken out, the real announcer returns and clears his throat before announcing the usual knockout.]]
* ''VideoGame/DanceDanceRevolution''. Even if the announcer is turned off, he will still ham it up at the results screen. His ham overrides the setting. The announcer introduced on ''DDR X'' is by far the hammiest of them all.
* ''Destruction Derby'' offers a commentator with maybe 30 things to say, mostly focusing on the car carnage. Two of the memorable lines are "It's like rush hour in LA!" and (in the [[HotPotato hot]]-[[GrenadeHotPotato potato]] Bomb Mode) "Get rid of that bomb!"
* ''VideoGame/Dota2'' (the sequel to the aforementioned mod) is also a WorldOfHam. While the general announcer manages to come off as fairly reserved, the [[http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Announcer_responses "Mega Kill" announcer]] is a definite example of this trope. What's more, this only takes into account the defaults, which is to say nothing of the multitude of custom [[http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Announcers "cosmetic" announcers]] available from the in-game store, some of whom are outstanding hams even while narrating general events. Notable examples include the hero announcer packs for [[AxCrazy Axe]] and [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Storm Spirit]].
** Tournament announcers also devour the scenery regularly. For example, we have [=TobiWan=]'s "BLACK HOLE!" and "IT'S A DISASTAH!" and [=ODPixel=]'s "CEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEB!"
* ''VideoGame/FZero'': "You've got boost power!" "ALL RIGHT, FIRST PLACE!"
** He even makes a surprise appearance in ''VideoGame/MarioKart8'' on the Big Blue DLC course to announce the final lap!
** Jack Merluzzi also appears in the English version of [[VideoGame/MarioKartArcadeGP Mario Kart Arcade GP DX]] as the announcer whereas Rica Matsumoto (a.k.a Ash Ketchum) is in the Japanese version who shouts every single word and reacts hammily to everything such as a racer getting hit by an item.
* ''[[VideoGame/FASTRacingLeague FAST Racing NEO]]'' and its UpdatedRerelease ''FAST RMX'' both feature a very enthusiastic announcer, voiced by Jack Merluzzi of ''F-Zero GX'' fame.
--> "LEGENDARY!!" \
"LET'S GO ''CRAZY!!''" \
"ONLY TWO LAPS TO GO!" \
"IT'S THE FINAL LAP!" \
"PLEEEEEASE TRY AGAIN!"
* ''VideoGame/FossilFighters'' has P.A. Leon and Slate Johnson, giving you their professional, totally unbiased commentary... as they cheer you on.
* This is Igor Crowe's entire job at the Battlesphere in ''VideoGame/FreedomPlanet2''. Whether introducing your character, announcing a new record, or even just reminding contestants of the rules, he simply cannot talk with an indoor voice.
* The announcer from ''VideoGame/FuzionFrenzy'' will always declare the winner at the top of their lungs and announce a TitleDrop whenever he gets the chance.
* ''VideoGame/{{Gauntlet}}'' is, of course, one of the earliest and well-known examples.
* The ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' multiplayer announcer, who gradually increases in hamminess as the games progress.
* The menu announcer of ''VideOGame/HydroThunder'' is [[MemeticMutation commonly known]] for yelling absolutely everything you do, including naming any track or boat you choose.
* ''VideoGame/KillerInstinct'': '''"[[MemeticMutation C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!]]"'''
* The Taris Duel Arena announcer in ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic''.
--> '''Announcer:''' "And now, the moment we've all been waiting for... '''''LET THE DEATH MATCH... BEGIN!'''''"
* For the ''Odyssey'' event in ''VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends'', they replaced the normal announcer with Odyssey Rhaast (with Odyssey Kayn chipping in occasionally). Rhaast is a LargeHam normally, and ''Odyssey'' made him and Kayn even ''more'' bombastic.
* ''VideoGame/LegendsOfRuneterra'' has the [[https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Arena_Battlecaster Arena Battlecaster]] who is a wrestling style announcer for [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends the Noxus arena]].
* In addition to the aforementioned [=GLaDOS=] and ''VideoGame/{{Gauntlet}}'' announcer making appearances, ''VideoGame/LegoDimensions'' has commentary over the multiplayer battle arenas by the undisputed king of large hams, '''Creator/BrianBlessed'''.
--> "Has everyone gone for a picnic?!"
* ''VideoGame/MadWorld'' features Kreese Kreeley and Howard "Buckshot" Holmes giving the audience slay-by-slay coverage of the brutal Deathwatch bloodsport. Frankly, their interactions are some of the best parts of the game, in no small part due to them being voiced by Creator/JohnDiMaggio (Kreese) and [[Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway Greg Proops]] (Howard).
-->'''Howard:''' Well, it looks like there are no more people left for Jack to kill.\
'''Kreese:''' Yeah, but he could still defile the bodies.\
'''Howard:''' How so?\
'''Kreese:''' You know, take trophies and shit; check out my necklace of human ears!\
'''Howard:''' Check out my stream of projectile vomit! ''[vomiting noises]''\
'''Kreese:''' Aw, dude, did you have potatoes ''and'' corn?\
'''Howard:''' Yes, I did.
* With a name like ''Super VideoGame/MeatBoy'', it's only fitting that the game has a ham-tastic announcer. See the title screen? SUUUPER MEAT BOOOY! Use a cheat code to play as a secret character? POOSH DA BUTTONS! Enter a warp-zone? WARP ZOOOOOONE!
* ''VideoGame/MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries'' featured the loud and somewhat goofy [[BloodSport Solaris]] [[GladiatorGames VII]] [[AnnouncerChatter color-commentator Duncan Fisher]], whose combination of volume and enthusiasm ended up being so popular with fans that he returned for the fan-made GameMod ''Mechwarrior Living Legends'' and then for the official Arena mode in ''Mechwarrior Online''.
* The announcer of the first two ''VideoGame/MetalSlug'' games is pretty tame, but from ''X'' onwards he's replaced by a much more hammy announcer.
--> "HEAVYYYYYY MACHINEGUN!" \
"ROCKET [[strike:LAUNCHER]] LAWN CHAIR!" \
"ENEMYYYY CHASER!" \
"FLAAAMME SHOT!" \
"''[[GunsAkimbo TWO]]'' MACHINEGUN!"
* ''VideoGame/ModNationRacers'' has two commentators, Biff Tradwell and [[ButtMonkey Gary Reasons]]. Biff is a hammy, arrogant jerk (who never wears pants behind the desk for some reason) while Gary is rather timid and constantly having to fend off Biff's insults. [[spoiler:At the end of the career mode, Gary [[TheDogBitesBack retaliates by administering a Vulcan Neck Pinch on Biff]]]] The dialogue is quite funny.
* Mickey Cantor in ''VideoGame/MondayNightCombat'', who is a direct descendant of Andres Cantor. Not only is he an extremely energetic play-by-play announcer, he's also an expert corporate mouthpiece. He seems to especially enjoy encouraging the pros -- and any fans who happen to have brought their sniper rifles from home -- to kill MNC mascot Bullseye.
** ''Super Monday Night Combat'' has him replaced by straight-laced professional GG Stack and bombastic former competitor Chip Valvano. They both get ''very'' excited when announcing, say, a kill streak or turret going down.
* "{{FINISH HIM}}!" ''Franchise/MortalKombat''[='s=] very own Shao Kahn even announces ''when he's the one fighting''.
--> "FATALITY!"
---> "''[[BreakingTheFourthWall TOASTYYYY!]]''"
* ''VideoGame/MutantFootballLeague'' features Tim Kitzrow as "Grim Blitzrow", the loud, bombastic, and energetic lead announcer counterpart to CuckoolanderCommentator Brickhead Mulligan.
* Tim Kitzrow's play-by-play in the ''VideoGame/NBAJam''. He's a major piece of the franchise's popularity to this day.
* ''VideoGame/NumanAthletics'': The short guy who announces the events, who nevertheless has a booming, echoing voice. He gets especially excited when you get a world record.
* ''VideoGame/PokemonStadium'' and ''Pokémon Battle Revolution'' try for it.
* ''VideoGame/{{Portal}}'' has [=GLaDOS=] as its own hilarious announcer. And an actual automated Announcer in the [[VideoGame/Portal2 sequel.]]
-->"This next test applies the principles of momentum through movement through portals. If the laws of physics no longer apply [[AfterTheEnd in the future]], God help you."
%% no generic entries please * Video games based on ProfessionalWrestling seem to have far more storage space dedicated to announcer patter than any other audio in the game. And yet they still manage to repeat lines multiple times in the same match.
* Any multiplayer oriented FirstPersonShooter whose [[ExcusePlot backstory]] revolves around the TournamentArc falls into this, such as ''VideoGame/QuakeIIIArena'' and the ''VideoGame/{{Unreal|I}} ([[VideoGame/UnrealTournament Tour]][[VideoGame/UnrealTournament2004 na]][[VideoGame/UnrealTournamentIII ment]][=/=][[VideoGame/UnrealChampionship2TheLiandriConflict Championship]])'' series.
** [[MemeticMutation M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!]]
** The Hungarian fan translators of the original ''Unreal Tournament'' had a lot of fun with this, instead of going for a straight translation. "Multi Kill!" became "Brutal animal on the field!", "Mega Kill!" became "Death, DEATH, '''DEATH!!!'''" and "M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!" became "ON YOUR KNEES, CHICKEN! '''GOD IS HERE!'''"
** Special mention goes to ''Unreal Tournament 2003/2004's'' infamous "Sexy" announcer, which combines this trope with TheImmodestOrgasm, getting more and more excited the better you erm... perform.
* The [=DJs=] of ''VideoGame/RidgeRacer'' series are this in general; ''Ridge Racer 6'' and ''3D'' take the cake, though.
--> "ULTIMATE CHARGE!"
* ''Rock And Roll Racing''. "LET THE CARNAGE BEGIN!"
* The announcer from ''VideoGame/S4League''. [[CriticalHit CRITICAL! CRITICAL!]] '''[[CaptureTheFlag TOUCHDOWN!]] STRRRRRIIIIIKE!!'''
* ''SEGA Bass Fishing'' for the Dreamcast has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahP41mLAyLw an announcer]] whose first language clearly isn't English, but that doesn't stop him from getting really excited about fishing.
-->"This one's HUUUUGE! Wow, rekkud[[note]]record[[/note]] size!"
* ''VideoGame/{{Skullgirls}}'': Ladies and gentlemen(?), it's... '''''SHOWTIME!'''''
* The [[VideoGame/{{Doom}} Skulltag]] announcer.
* ''Eggman'', of all people, in ''VideoGame/SonicColors''. Snarky announcements from Sonic's nemesis will often play over a PA system in each level (coinciding with the theme that all the stages are part of Eggman's "[[AmusementParkOfDoom amusement park]]"). Since the game's script was written by the guys behind ''VideoGame/MadWorld'', these, too, are some of the best parts of the game.
-->'''Eggman:''' We here at Eggman's Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park consider ourselves the universe's first fully Green amusement park! Although the green is from all the nausea and vomiting, but still, green is green!
** Additionally, whenever Sonic [[spoiler:or Eggman in the final boss]] uses wisps and the trick ramps, an actual announcer calls them out. This announcer returns in ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations'' (for the Planet Wisp stage), ''VideoGame/SonicLostWorld'' and ''VideoGame/SonicForces''.
* ''[[VideoGame/SegaSuperstars Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing]]'' features [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hJSw8tjtYA an enthusiastic announcer]] who talks and sounds like something straight out of a motocross rally.
-->"Hey! Now we got a race on our hands! I remember this feeling: Excitement!"
** The English announcer for the sequel is nothing special, but the Japanese version gets Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, otherwise known as the "[[VideoGame/DaytonaUSA ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAART]]" guy. He would return a few years later as the announcer for the Time Attack and Competition modes in ''VideoGame/SonicMania''.
* The announcer from the ''VideoGame/SoulSeries'' series is slightly more [[ColdHam subdued]] than many of the other examples on the list, but just as hammy in an InAWorld kind of way.
-->''Welcome back to the stage of history.''
* ''VideoGame/SpaceInvaders Extreme 2'' has an announcer who would not sound out of place in a racing game.[[note]]That's because said announcer is ''also'' voiced by Jack Merluzzi.[[/note]]
-->"You made it out this time, but this isn't the end! IT'S [[SuperMode FEVER]] TIME!"\
[[BossWarningSiren "Don't let the enemy freak you out!"]]\
"Nice moves, maverick!"
* DJ Atomika, your eye in the sky on EA Radio BIG in ''VideoGame/{{SSX}} 3'' doesn't actually commentate on events as they occur, but gives listeners the lowdown on the throwdowns after the fact while taking song requests and reporting local news. Looks like the dreaded snow snakes are back...
* ''VideoGame/StarWarsTheOldRepublic'' has Baron Deathmark, the Huttball announcer.
-->"Perhaps the worst throw in Frog-dogs history, RRREAALLY RREAALLLY TERRRIBLE!"
* The ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' [[LargeHam announcer]]''[[TheOtherDarrin s]]''. The announcer changes with each game, and each is hammier than the last. '''[[{{Tagline}} SETTLE IT IN SMASH!]]'''
** [[Creator/XanderMobus The announcer for]] [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosForNintendo3DSAndWiiU the Wii U and 3DS iterations]] is the hammiest to date, as best exhibited in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0BBGzfw0pQ 50-Fact Extravaganza.]] It's so good he came back for [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate the next game]].
---> "We, of course, have a good number of songs available in the Nintendo [=3DS=] version, but there will be even more in the Wii U game! '''''IN FACT, IT'S NOT EVEN COMPARABLE!!!'''''"
* The Administrator from ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'', who started out just as TheVoice. Then Makani, a FandomVIP, [[http://makani.deviantart.com/art/mission-begins-in-five-102983857 designed the actual character]]... then Creator/{{Valve|Software}} [[AscendedFanon adopted the design officially]]. What really makes her character is the poisonous contempt she displays for the teams.
** Speaking of which, some people have taken voice clips and effectively used them to make hilarious commercials: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7QIcxoJU4g Scout Advertised Slap Chop]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHgEnN2PFzo Heavy Sells Kaboom]]
** On the 2014 and 2015 Halloween event maps, the regular announcer is replaced with Merasmus the Magician, who is [[EvilIsHammy as hammy as ever.]] Especially during the bumper car segments. "[[Memes/TeamFortress2 Bonus ducks!]]"
* The Announcer from ''VideoGame/ThemeHospital'', providing both vital announcements and AnnouncerChatter in a chirpy [[UsefulNotes/BritishAccents Esturine accent]].
--> "Today's special offer: half-price hair replacement!"
* Guy Davidson from ''VideoGame/TraumaCenter New Blood'' is an announcer for the [[ShowWithinAShow Miracle Surgery TV show]], and is so hammy that he starts to annoy the player characters mid-operation.
* The announcer from ''VideoGame/UnrealTournament'' was so memorable, the voice clip was stolen for the genre-changing mod of ''VideoGame/WarcraftIII'': ''VideoGame/DefenseOfTheAncients''. "OWNING!"
* ''VideoGame/XMenLegends'' has one. "COMBO!"
* ''VideoGame/Yakuza0'' gives us not one, but ''two'' Large Ham Announcers:
** The first is the unseen and unnamed announcer for the Bed of Styx fights, who speaks English and ''loves'' TrrrillingRrrs:
---> "First match. Gorrrrrro! MMMAJIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Verrrrsus! DAVID...DIABORRRRRRRU-KUN! RRRRRRRRRREADY? FIIIIIIIIIIGHT!"
** The second is the Pocket Circuit Fighter, who commentates the Pocket Circuit tournaments with tons of energy. The remake of the first game even adds a subplot in which you have to find someone who's passionate enough to replace him, which is a surprisingly hard task.
* ''VideoGame/ZeroDivide'': XTAL, much like Shao Kahn mentioned earlier, will offer his own color commentary for all matches including those in which the combatants fight against him. However, given that all other the other fighters aside from boss and sub-boss characters are TheVoiceless, XTAL's commentary is largely more pronounced in this regard.

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* [[http://hrwiki.org/wiki/The_Announcer The Announcer]] from ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'', who appeared in the early toons and made a return in 2006.

[[folder:Web Videos]]
* Creator/ImprovEverywhere made a major improvement when they gave a major league set up, which included sports announcers, to [[http://improveverywhere.com/2008/04/07/best-game-ever/ a kids' baseball game]].
* The [[NoIndoorVoice decibel murdering]] intro announcer from ''WebVideo/EpicRapBattlesOfHistory'' combines this with shades of TheUnintelligible.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDyuBpnbC6g ABadFeeling's "E-sports" video]] of ''Intruder'' -- a ''VideoGame/SplinterCell''-esque stealth/combat game - has Boon narrating his every move by yelling it over his microphone, where every nearby enemy player can hear him.
-->'''Boon:''' Here he comes around the bend. Is this guy dead or alive? Let's find out - hes dead. Let us keep checking the area. We're[[KilledMidSentence UAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH]]
* The "epic voice" in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN3bFGJzY9s&list=PLSQLREUw9vwlh8bzgvZCt_WS8615trN5H&index=5 The Hyrule Warrior.]]
* WebVideo/UrinatingTree's videos run on this, and the fact he's doing bombastic descriptions of [[EveryYearTheyFizzleOut sports failures]] makes it all the funnier.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/DynomuttDogWonder'' has Ron Feinberg, a gloriously spastic announcer.
* While the show itself didn't have one, ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'''s crew gave Zim's computer the voice of a monster truck show announcer.
-->'''Computer:''' PRRRRROCESSING!
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'', mostly in their...TALES! OF! INTEREST!
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'''s Pro-Bending commentator, Shiro Shinobi, who also narrates the PreviouslyOn segments. "Grab your snacks and grab your kids, because this next match is gonna be a doozy!" In a late Season 2 episode, [[CombatCommentator his reactions]] to an ''actual, serious fight'' between a main character and some would-be kidnappers start to resemble his commentator patter, despite the fact that he has no mic nor any audience other than the man who happens to be sitting next to him.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' has Spike, who through the course of the first season discovers his enjoyment of announcing things like footraces [[spoiler:and/or fisticuffs (hooficuffs?)]] and fashion shows. He takes great pride and [[LargeHam hamminess]] in this.
%%* The narrator from ''WesternAnimation/{{The Powerpuff Girls|1998}}''.
* PlayedForLaughs in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' at a soccer game. Kent Brockman is commentating and is clearly bored; meanwhile, his South American counterpart in the next booth is giving the exact same commentary, but excitedly shouting everything.
* Jactance, the Bontarian Gobbowl Announcer in ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'' has only ''one'' volume, and it ain't even close to conversation level. His brother Tendinite is also a Gobbowl Announcer, but is considerably more low-key.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Real Life]]
* Old-time circus ringmasters - as well as their podunk counterparts, the traveling carnival barkers (popularly portrayed shouting "Hurry, hurry, hurry!" in an exaggerated Northeastern accent).
* In the early days of radio and television, ''[[WorldOfHam all]]'' [[WorldOfHam newscasters were hammy]]. (This is the main reason why most of the classic newsreels have [[{{Narm}} dated very badly]].) Today this behavior is restricted to sports commentators. And newscasters who used to be sports commentators (e.g. Creator/KeithOlbermann).
* The late Creator/GaryOwens - most commonly known as the voice of ''WesternAnimation/SpaceGhost'' (as well as having been a DJ (surprised?) before ''Series/LaughIn'' et al) - was not only hammy, but used the Space Ghost voice when announcing for other products or events for the recognition factor.
* Noli de Castro of ABS-CBN is quite a hammy announcer himself. In fact, every time he does his announcement, it [[ChewingTheScenery consumes the scene]].
* Creator/{{ABC}} Sports announcer Howard Cosell was a major real-life Large Ham Announcer, most famous for his years as an announcer to ''Series/MondayNightFootball.'' Cosell was instantly recognizable for his steady, punctuated style of speaking. He's often the subject of parodies when someone attempts to announce sports, simply because his voice was so unforgettable.
* The late Creator/MarkDailey, who became famous as "the Voice" of the original Creator/{{Citytv}} in Toronto in the 80s/90s (as well as doing plenty of VO work for sister Creator/MuchMusic). His nightly movie intros would quite often be [[DeadpanSnarker suffused with snark]] (especially during the ''Late Great Movies'' strand), and even despite being an on-camera personality (first a reporter, then an anchor for ''[=CityPulse=]''), his VO work is even more memorable (to the point he even became a voice actor in the late 90s).
* The late Harry Caray, a baseball announcer who worked at various points for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Oakland A's, the Chicago White Sox, and most famously the Chicago Cubs, was another real-life epitome.
--> ''"HOOOO-LY COW!!"''
--> "THERE IT GOES! WAY BACK!! IT MIGHT BE OUTA HERE!! IT COULD BE -- IIIIIIIT IS!!! RYNE SANDBERG! AND LISTEN TO THE CROWD!! HOOOOOLY COW!!!"
* Larry Munson, long time commentator for the Georgia Bulldogs, was very excitable -- especially when Georgia was close in a game -- also add a dash of bias. His most classic calls were also the most hammy.
--> "[[FinishingStomp We just stepped on their face with a]] [[ThatsGottaHurt hobnail boot and broke their nose!]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPRqaAbdzZ4 We just CRUSHED their face!]]"
* Dave Niehaus, long-time announcer for the UsefulNotes/{{Seattle}} Mariners baseball team, was something of a local legend because of how excited he got during a game, particularly when the Mariners were winning. In particular, he was famous for his catchphrases: "My Oh My!" and "Get out the rye bread and the mustard, Grandma, this one is going to be a grand salami!" (After a Grand Slam was hit.)
* The Pittsburgh Penguins' commentator Mike Lange, famous both for excitability and for coining rather random but colorful phrases to exclaim like "Scratch my back with a hacksaw!"
** This is something of a tradition with Pittsburgh sportscasters. Other examples from the past include Steelers announcer Myron Cope and Pirates announcer Bob Prince.
* John Sterling, radio announcer for the New York Yankees, tends to get over the top when calling a Yankees home run--"That ball is high! It is far! IT! IS! GONE! A home run for (insert player name here)! (One or two phrases customized for that player, usually involving [[{{Pun}} bad puns]])!" and at the end of a Yankees win. "Ballgame over! Yankees win! ''Theeeeeeee'' Yankees! WIN!" The greater the magnitude of the win, the longer the word "the" is drawn out, with the longest being the final game of the 1996 World Series.
* Cleveland Guardians radio announcer Tom Hamilton, nicknamed "Hammy" by fans, can also get pretty hammy at times when Cleveland scores, or at the very least, [[NoIndoorVoice very loud]]. [[http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/34817 Just imagine how exciting a comeback from a 12-run deficit at the 7th-inning stretch could get. (That's not him announcing the 7th inning.)]]
* The known news anchor from UsefulNotes/NorthKorea has to be [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkWPXcnWyeE the largest ham in the eastern hemisphere]].
* Spanish and South American football commentators (including TropeCodifier Andrés Cantor) '''''always''''' draw out their cries of "¡GOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL~!" as long as possible, so you'd know if someone scored if you were away from the TV or radio. To English speakers, it's more of a MemeticMutation and proof that the beautiful game is SeriousBusiness down there (English-language football commentators tend to be a bit more formal). It may have to do with the fact that points in football are extremely rare compared to other sports[[note]]Basketball games usually see both teams ending with at least 70 points. In American football, 10-30. In association football, five goals is legendary, if not [[CurbStompBattle commonly coupled with the other team having no points]].[[/note]], and thus every single point is a reason for massive applause from the announcers and everyone around the world watching the game.
* Speaking of football commentators, Iceland's Guðmundur Benediktsson received worldwide recognition for his extremely enthusiastic commentary for Icelandic television at [[UsefulNotes/EuropeanChampionship Euro 2016]], especially [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dQhIjUNNIs his reaction]] after Iceland stunned England in the round of 16.
* Dave Mishkin, home announcer for the Tampa Bay Lightning, has calls so exaggerated that they can really only be called ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Z45n6Ttvog shrieking]]''.
* The Buffer brothers' main event introductions, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6eQ78HCGEA Michael Buffer's LEEEEEEET'SSS GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEE!!!]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDbMTB7bxLI Bruce Buffer's IIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTT'SSSSS TIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMEEEEEE!!!!]]
* For US college basketball, two words: Dick Vitale.
* The Toronto Blue Jays' former radio announcer, the late Tom Cheek, got a moment of this when the team won the 1993 World Series [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIWXEYRBUgA with a walk-off home run in Game 6]].
-->''Touch 'em all, Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!''
* In darts, there is John [=McDonald=], who announces the players before matches in hammy fashion.
* ''UsefulNotes/FormulaOne'':
** David "Crofty" Croft is one of the famous examples for his signature "It's lights out and away we go!" at every start of a Grand Prix race. And he tends to go at an extra mile, especially on the first lap.
** The honor of Formula 1's hammiest commentator goes to Murray Walker. His enthusiasm, coupled with {{Malaproper}} to make up for the botches he made in the heat of the moment, dubbed Murrayisms. Best exemplified during the 2001 British Grand Prix before lights out:
--->''"Three lights! Four lights! Five... laps! PAUSE! '''Go! Go! Go!'''"''
