Sometimes the fans think that the PowersThatBe screwed it. Maybe they've [[TheChrisCarterEffect wasted the storyline]], or they went for [[ClicheStorm the obvious]] when a better solution should have been favored. Maybe they [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter didn't focus on a certain character enough]]. Maybe they've [[{{Shipping}} paired the wrong couple]] together, or they don't even understand who the [[DracoInLeatherPants true hero]] of the story should be. Or, even worse, they've [[DroppedABridgeOnHim killed]]/[[CharacterDerailment derailed]] the best/most important character, or given the story an ending that is [[AudienceAlienatingEnding unsatisfying for whatever reason]].

Whatever the reason, some fans are dissatisfied and they won't be content to complain about it. They're going to address it, in a {{fanfic}}. In short, an AU with an agenda, rather than as an intellectual exercise.

The motivations for writing these can vary greatly, along with the perceived justification — they may want to "correct" something [[MisaimedFandom that went just fine]], or want to offer an alternative to something genuinely and incredibly stupid. If the writer is lucky, the trend may be popular enough that [[AcceptableBreaksFromCanon the fans don't mind at this point]].

Some Fix Fics use a PeggySue to get the ball rolling. Others bring in a FixerSue. Usually a side effect of DieForOurShip or HesJustHiding.

Fix Fics come in two varieties. Either they can be an AlternateUniverseFic that [[FanonDiscontinuity ignores the unwanted elements]] and replace them with something better. Or they can be a PseudocanonicalFic taking the form of an elaborate explanation in story form that [[FanWank gives a whole new spin]] to the latest episode/chapter/volume.

Compare {{Retcon}} and ArmedWithCanon, the {{Canon}} versions of a Fix Fic. If different official writers in the same franchise try to impose their view of canon on each other by force, see ArmedWithCanon. In very rare cases, may lead to AscendedFanon. Contrast DeconstructionFic, although they can and often do overlap in the case of deconstructing something the author dislikes and replacing it with something the author does like. AccusationFic, RevengeFic and HateFic can overlap as well, depending on how much the writer feels the need to "punish" the characters for what happened in the original story.

Not to be confused with a ''fixup'', which is a novel composed of older and/or unpublished short pieces of fiction, often tied together with some sort of FramingDevice. For that, see PatchworkStory, or this [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fix-up nice discussion]] on Website/{{Wikipedia}}.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Anime/CodeGeass''
** fix fic mostly aims at the ending's "[[ZeroApprovalGambit Zero Requiem]]". Even the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' series allows you to avoid it (if you fulfill a number of [[GuideDangIt unlisted prerequisites]] or play a NewGamePlus) by preventing the Black Knights' betrayal. Most interesting is ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12263687/1/Understudy Understudy]]'', which depicts Zero Requiem as it happened in canon right up until Suzaku is in position to slay Lelouch -- at which point he hesitates, giving Lelouch's troops enough time to gun him down. And [[spoiler:this was [[ThanatosGambit Suzaku's plan all along]] -- ''he'' wanted to be the one to take the blame for Lelouch's atrocities and atone for his actions, when in canon it was Lelouch who got to do that]].
** The fan comic "Webcomic/CodeGeassR2Remake" whose author was disappointed with the canon ending retells events in turns 22-25 in order to give the ending a more bittersweet one.
* ''Franchise/DragonBall'', being such a big franchise, has entire ''genres'' of fix fic, and it's all too easy since the series has a canonical ResetButton.
** ''Fanfic/SadalaChroniclesTheSaiyanAndTheDevilsFruit'' provides a few changes to the Champa saga in the epilogue. As the protagonist, Cabba receives buildup for his transformation as a Super Saiyan, with him being pure of heart; Universe 6 Saiyans are written to be [[PunchClockHero flawed but not evil]], just to answer why nobody transformed in a Super Saiyan before if they are all heroes; Frost is evil like in the source material [[NecessarilyEvil but sees himself as necessary for the universe to function]]; and Piccolo replaces Goku as the first fighter in the tournament, with the author stating his disgust at Goku's redundancy in this arc.
** ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9573702/18/A-second-chance A Second Chance]]'' is one of several {{Revenge Fic}}s that don't like Bulma or Chi-Chi, [[RonTheDeathEater usually involving them being demonized]] and giving someone else an excuse to kill them so they can end up with [[invoked]]RelationshipSue. It's easy to do with Vegeta, especially given how long his HeelFaceTurn took. It's harder with someone like [[WhatTheHellHero Goku]] or [[CantCatchUp Yamcha]].
* ''Literature/{{Gate}}'': The fanfic ''Fanfic/ManifestDestiny'', whose author has set about to better portray issues such as local economics, culture, global politics, and most noticeably psychology, issues that the original either glossed over, oversimplified, or ignored. The result is much DarkerAndEdgier story, more along the vein of ''Literature/HeartOfDarkness'' than its source.
* Any ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' fanfic that affects the overall plot will fix ''something'' horrible that happened to the characters. Over half of them also involve Shinji and Asuka's relationship.
** ''Fanfic/ACrownOfStars'' tries to fix the {{Canon}} and ''two'' fanfics, "A Throne of Bayonets" and "The Way Out Is Through" to give Shinji and Asuka and the rest of the cast a happier ending. After the events of "A Throne Of Bayonets", Shinji and Asuka are physically and emotionally burned and wrecked, but then a stranger shows up and makes an offer...
** ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'' fixes Shinji and Asuka's relationship, giving both teenagers the skill to have a civil conversation, and injecting a generous dose of waffiness.
** ''Fanfic/GhostsOfEvangelion'' tries to fix the psychological damage done to the main characters and their relationship.
** In ''Fanfic/LastChildOfKrypton'', Shinji gets Kryptonian powers and an early lesson on power and responsibility. As a result of it, he tries to use his powers to help people. When he is summoned to Tokyo-3, he is still shy and soft-spoken, but he is more emotionally stable and more compassionate than his canon counterpart, he is committed to help and protect others, and he is powerful enough to fight anything thrown at him.
** Another specific example is ''Fanfic/ShinjiAndWarhammer40k'', where the changes begin with Shinji discovering a case with some ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000'' sourcebooks and miniatures early in his childhood. The butterfly effect takes hold with the result that every change following flows mostly logically from the previous changes, until you're halfway through the whole thing and Shinji is holding a nuclear explosion '''in his hand''', and you wonder how the heck you ended up there.
** ''Fanfic/ThousandShinji'' has Shiji meeting and training under a ''Thousand Sons Chaos Sorcerer'' as a child. The story fixes a few things, only to later come back and break them in new and interesting (and often ''horrifying'') ways.
** ''Fanfic/ChildrenOfAnElderGod'' fixes some little things (Shinji is less meek, Asuka's childhood is less horrid...) before sending everyone and everything straight to Hell.
** ''Fanfic/NobodyDies'' keeps Yui Ikari and Kyoko Sohryu alive through the series, which in turn manages to make Shinji reasonably well adjusted, turns Asuka into the [[TheWoobie woobie]], and turns Rei into...Rei.
** ''Fanfic/MobileFighterEvangelion'' has succesfully turned the original series into a complete {{Reconstruction}} of what it deconstructed. So far we have [[NoodleIncident Landshark killing]] Shinji, MadScientist!Ritsuko, Gundams piloted by [[spoiler: Pen-Pen]], and a {{Grappling Hook|Pistol}}!Gendo. It's as awesome as it sounds.
** ''Fanfic/NeonGenesisEvangelionGenocide'' fixes Shinji and Asuka's post-war relationship, among other things.
** ''Fanfic/OnceMoreWithFeelingCrazy88'' consists in Shinji going back to the past and trying to fix the monumental mess that the original timeline was.
** ''Fanfic/SOE2LoneHeirOfKrypton'' gives Asuka ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'s powers. As a result, Asuka becomes a super-heroine, learns her existence is not worthless without Eva, evolves into a better person and has a real chance to avert the end of the world.
** In ''Fanfic/TheSecondTry'', Shinji and Asuka manage to get over their worst issues, get together and go back to the past to save the world.
* One ''Manga/{{Parasyte}}'' [[{{Hentai}} H-doujin]] reinterprets [[HumanityIsInfectious Reiko]]'s death as ThatManIsDead, and ends with her starting a human family with Mamoru.
* ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'''s concept is that the life of a Magical Girl is very tragic and that it doesn't have a truly happy ending. As you can probably guess from that concept, a lot of fanfics are dedicated to saving ''someone'' from death. It doesn't quite help that one of the main characters [[spoiler:is looping time over and over to save the titular character for an unknown amount of times]], which simply added fuel to the fire.
** ''Fanfic/MagicaMadokaVeneficusPuella'' arguably ''plays'' with this trope. While the characters are now capable of finally getting their happy endings, the fights that take place cause collateral damage on par with your average war. Add to the fact that [[spoiler:a potential [[ApocalypseHow class X-4 apocalypse]] is heading over the horizon]] and you have yourselves a problem.
** ''Fanfic/AHero'', another ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' fanfic, is a subversion. On one hand, it adds [[Series/DoctorWho Dalek]] [[SociopathicHero Sec]] to help fix things. On the other, it also adds the rest of the Franchise/{{Whoniverse}} to screw things up even ''more''.
** ''Fanfic/AsTimeDivergesTheMitakiharaCase'' adds a [[Manga/DeathNote quirky yet genius detective and equally smart grad student]] to the mix, and while L catches onto what the antagonist is planning right away, but this soon gets subverted as the events still play out, and soon get worse as [[spoiler:Light {{face heel turn}}s and kills Kyouko]]. It gets double subverted though, as [[spoiler:L goes back in time and fixes much of the problems that belied their first loop... Though it gets ''triple'' subverted when L decides to kill Kyousuke and have Sayaka become a Witch... Would you believe this is ''quadruple'' subverted, since this was L's [[BatmanGambit plan]] to invoke the DeconReconSwitch]]?
** "[[http://danbooru.donmai.us/pools/3420 I've Managed To Save Mami-san]]" is a remarkably straightforward fancomic in which the timely application of [[spoiler:a [[{{Manga/Berserk}} Dragonslayer]] to the face]] manages to, well, save Mami. The author continued in the same vein with [[spoiler:[[Characters/BerserkGuts Guts]]]] BigDamnHero-ing [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/pools/6327 Sayaka]], [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/pools/10965 Kyoko]] and (in an ''Franchise/AttackOnTitan'' crossover) [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/pools/11819 Mina]][[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guts_(Berserk) .]]
** After the end of the series, roughly seven hundred thousand stories or doujins were written where [[spoiler: [[StarCrossedLovers Homura and Madoka]] find a way to meet again. Bringing Sayaka with her is optional.]]
** After the release of ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion'', viewers have [[spoiler: observed that the ending almost seems to [[GenreDeconstruction deconstruct]] these types of fics. On the other hand, given the [[BrokenBase more contentous nature]] of the movie's ending, more Fix Fics have been created to remedy the film's ending. The fact that it ends in a SequelHook of sorts and there is no sequel to be seen on the horizon only increases the efforts]]. An example of an interesting take in the Rebellion Fix Fic is [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10762203/1/The-Persistence-of-Memory The Persistence of Memory]], as it [[spoiler:restores the Law of Cycles world, while managing to get Homura's cooperation so that the Law of Cycles members can keep in touch with their loved ones- and take care of the incubators (in comparison to most fix fics of rebellion, that simply bring the Law Of Cycles system back)]].
** ''Fanfic/MagicalGirlsUniteRetransformed'' is meant to be one towards not just ''Puella Magi Madoka Magica'', but all other MagicalGirlGenreDeconstruction works as well, with heroes from other works coming to ensure the characters' escape their fate. One chapter, for example, sees the infamous DownerEnding of ''Anime/MagicalPrincessMinkyMomo'' outright averted, with her being saved from her fate of being run over and her quest completed.
* ''FanFic/CrossAngeFutatsuSekaiNoBorder'' is a {{Continuation}} of [[Anime/CrossAnge the original series]] that focuses on the Mana people, after the events that lead Mana to ruin. [[FullCircleRevolution Mana has traded places as being the unfair victims]] of MindControl and LaserGuidedAmnesia. The story follows Ange's sister Sylvia, who, after undergoing CharacterDevelopment to become a heroic ActionGirl, helps to show the Mana people in a more complex and likable light than their canonical AlwaysChaoticEvil portrayal.
* ''FanFic/CrossAngeTheKnightofHilda'' is an {{Alternate Universe Fic}} during Episode 9 of [[Anime/CrossAnge the original series]] in response to the lack of Mana users who are either likable or capable and male characters. [[LaResistance The Network]] also serves as a group of Mana users who are not only both but additionally break the absolutist stance that nearly all Mana users hate Norma. It has taken inspiration from many different homegrown states that fought their own oppressive regimes
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'' has an odd example in ''FanFic/{{Game Theory|LyricalNanoha}}''. The basic premise is that [[AbusiveParents Precia]], [[ManipulativeBastard while still cold and manipulative]], [[PragmaticVillainy is not openly cruel to Fate]]. While this does not necessarily sound like a Fix Fic, it quickly becomes clear that part of the story's agenda is to [[AdaptationExpansion fill in some rather large holes in the canon setting]]--it provides explanations for (and dwells upon the consequences of) concepts the original show basically {{Hand Wave}}d, such as familiars, Dimensional Space, and Yuuno's shapeshifting, as well as elaborating on just what the heck was going on with Al-Hazard (called Alhazred in the story) and Ancient Belka. The end result is something quite a bit more complex and sci-fi-feeling than the source material.
** ''FanFic/OfTheStars'' by the same author does something similar with ''Franchise/SailorMoon'', except it aims for ScienceFantasy rather than Magitek and is a straight up [[TheRemake remake]] rather than a divergence.
* One of the best-known examples is ''FanFic/TheHillOfSwords'' by Gabriel Blessing, which does this for ''Literature/TheFamiliarOfZero''. The original series is frequently criticized as being [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot a waste of a good plot]] which is ruined by fanservice and harem antics (the anime especially) and an excessively abusive relationship between a tsundere with a hair-trigger temper and an idiot of a male lead [[TooDumbToLive who doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut]] around her. Gabe's solution? Replace Saito with [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Shirou Emiya]], and watch in awe as the BelligerentSexualTension vanishes, the harem dynamics disappear [[RuleOfFunny almost]] entirely, and Louise is RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap and develops into a character who is not only ''likable'' but ''admirable''. While it has its share of flaws, it proved successful enough to spawn [[FollowTheLeader a massive following]] of fics with similar "Replace Saito with _____" premises.
** He later does the same thing with ''Manga/{{Sekirei}}'' ''with FanFic/InFlight''. With [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Shirou]] having the experience of partipating in another secret tournament, he's much more competent, serious, and prepared than [[Manga/{{Sekirei}} Minato]], the story is much different than Sekirei. It also made the reunion of Kusano and Shiina happen much earlier, made Akitsu [[ThrowTheDogABone an official Sekirei]], and [[spoiler:saved Chiho before Uzume's main/canon [[KilledOffForReal death]]]]. Also, with how the story's progressing, it has lessened the chance of Shirou becoming Archer. With more action and badassery (courtesy of Shirou), it won't be going too far if one says it's better than the original. It seems it will end in a [[NotHisSled different way than the original]].
* ''[[FanFic/ToAruverseRewriteProject In Memoriam]]'' does this for ''Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex'', essentially reconstructing the setting and the characters from the ground up.
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8514012/2/Keena-the-Defendants-of-Constan-Magic-Academy Keena & the Defendants of Constan Magic Academy]]'' is a Fix Fic of ''Literature/DemonKingDaimao'', focusing more on Keena Soga as she TakesALevelInBadass, by making her into quite a hero and then forms a BadassCrew as a result. Interestingly, the fic has Akuto, Junko, Kurone and Fujiko PutOnABus, likely to focus on this group more. Bonus points also go to Eiko being the BigBad, as fans of the anime series felt she was a better built-up villain than Boichiro (who, despite his antagonism, [[HeroAntagonist barely qualified as a villain]]).
** Chapter 8 crosses the fic with ''Anime/LoupsGarous'' thanks to an AlternateUniverse portal, so it's now turned to two Fix Fics in one.
** As of Chapter 22, Akuto, Junko, and Kurone have now appeared, and it seems Fujiko is also getting a similar treatment as Eiko by being a more capable villain than the sort-of a [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain joke character]] she was turned into in the actual canon.
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7330418/1/My_Life_Cant_Lose_Its_Normality My Life Can't Lose Its Normality]]'', an ''Literature/{{Oreimo}}'' fic with the premise that [[ExtremeDoormat Kyousuke]] is cool. He goes from someone who just does whatever his sister says into a ChickMagnet of a martial-arts master [[spoiler: who leads a vigilante group [[BadAssCrew more effective than most military forces]].]]
* ''FanFic/TheTrainerFromAFarAwayLand'' acts as a Fix Fic for ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'', for people frustrated with Ash's NotAllowedToGrowUp status and {{Flanderization}} into an IdiotHero. While most Fix Fic make Ash/Satoshi into a badass uber-genius, this fic maintains Ash/Satoshi's childishness and thoughtlessness but has Satoshi learn from his past experiences. He grew as a person along with growing older with his [[KiManipulation Aura]] powers from the [[Anime/PokemonLucarioAndTheMysteryOfMew eighth movie]] not being forgotten.
** Although the above has only four chapters that went on a years long break before updating and leaving the fic's status in the air, fans can still be entertained by three other, extremely well-written, Fix Fics -- ''FanFic/AshesOfThePast'', the FanFic/ANewChanceSeries, and ''FanFic/PokemonResetBloodlines''. All of them make Ash not be an IdiotHero, but in different ways: the former is a PeggySue fic, thus providing a logical explanation for this, and for the AdaptationalBadass status of every single character, whereas the latter simply diverges from canon after ''Anime/PokemonHeroes'', by giving Ash a legendary Pokémon in a way that actually makes sense, and uses this to have him mature as a trainer in a believable manner. The latter fic is inspired by Ashes and uses a similar set up for fixing things, though the fic is more focused on targeting smaller issues like Pidgeot and the Counter-Shield than a full rewrite of canon Ash's attempts (as the time jump creates enough of an alternate universe repeating things isn't the easiest thing in the world to do).
** ''Webcomic/RebuildOfPocketMonstersTheAnimation'' is an attempt to make the ''Pokémon'' series closer to Creator/TakeshiShudo's vision: a family-aimed (rather than kid-aimed) work that grows with its audience.
* The ''Anime/DigimonAdventure'' fanfic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/84916/1/Angel-Hearts Angel Hearts]]'' fixes the events of [[TearJerker Wizardmon's Gift]] - namely, it turns out that [[spoiler: Wizardmon was saved by Gennai, and is still alive]].
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'':
** ''FanFic/AProtectorsPride'' is basically all the characters being a lot smarter and pragmatic than their canon counterparts. For example, Ichigo, Orihime, and Chad devoting more time to actually mastering their powers, Orihime being willing to use her powers offensively in battle, and Ikkaku using his Bankai during the Fake Karakura Town arc.
** ''FanFic/{{Downfall|Bleach}}'' is an example of a fic that starts out much lighter than canon -- several characters that were dead in backstories are alive [[spoiler: -- only to start killing off several others in heartrending ways. Also, Unohana makes a great villain.]] Somehow, it still manages to feel like a fix fic.
* ''FanFic/TheCrimsonGarment'' is most certainly a ''Anime/KillLaKill'' Fix Fic. It's DarkerAndEdgier compared to the anime it's based on, removes much of the zaniness and WorldOfHam qualities, and makes the twist that [[spoiler: Life Fibers are aliens]] common knowledge, which causes the main cast to make more competent decisions than their original counterparts. It also considerably [[AdaptationalAngstUpgrade cranks up the amount of angst the main cast goes through]] ''especially'' Satsuki.
* ''Blog/AskTheNewHopesPeak'' is this, a ContinuationFic, a CharacterBlog, and a RecursiveFanfiction that follows ''Anime/Danganronpa3'' and its [[EsotericHappyEnding somewhat controversial ending]]. It elaborates on the fact that, even if the Tragedy itself is over, things are definitely ''not'' all sunshine and rainbows for everyone.
* ''FanFic/ExtraLife'' fixes Chiaki's execution in ''Anime/Danganronpa3'', having Izuru secretly resuscitate and then hide her from Junko. Besides chronicling her recovery and CharacterDevelopment, it also fills vague canon details or wraps up dangling plot threads, offering some {{Worldbuilding}} about the time of the Tragedy, an explanation for the Neo World Program's construction, screentime for underused characters like Miaya, and a resolution for the Towa City captives.
* ''WebVideo/SwordArtOnlineAbridged'' (to destractors or viewers who often did not watch the anime attentively or are affected by the changes from the adaptation from the LN that is)turned into this for ''Literature/SwordArtOnline'', even combining the BigBad's motivations and the fan-observed shortcomings of SAO's game elements into a somewhat-believable scenario.
* ''FanFic/SonOfTheSannin'' at first glance comes across as a very traditional ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' Fix Fic, but it goes also into meta-level. The premise starts with Jiraiya and Tsunade raising Naruto together as he grows up, and sticking around Konoha during those years. The introductory arc shows them preventing canon tragedies such as the sacrifice of Hizashi Hyuga or Gaara turning into an AxCrazy murderer. However, other interesting WhatIf scenarios are explored, [[spoiler: such as the aftermath of the Uchiha Clan pulling off their coup, resulting in Konoha losing a lot of its military manpower, including clan leaders Hiashi Hyuga and Inoichi Yamanaka, and Orochimaru taking advantage of the ensuing chaos to snatch the Sharingan for himself]]. As a result of this, Konoha is forced to up the standards in the Ninja Academy to ensure that the graduates are better prepared to handle future threats. The story goes out of its way to fix many of the plot holes left in canon while still staying true to the spirit of the series.
* At least one ''Anime/YukiYunaIsAHero'' fanfic, the oneshot ''Fanfic/{{Endings}}'', rewrites the ending of the anime so that the characters [[spoiler:keep their disabilities]] instead of [[spoiler:ThrowingOffTheDisability]]. The girls learn to [[spoiler:live with their disabilities]].
* ''Literature/SoundEuphonium'': Even before the final film already came out, there was already a Fix Fic for its RelationshipUpgrade between Kumiko and Shuichi. The oneshot ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13281613/1/a-quest-in-three-acts a quest in three acts]]'' explains that Kumiko is only dating Shuichi due to [[{{Gayngst}} internalized homophobia]]. Even though she [[IncompatibleOrientation isn't into men]], she feels obligated to date Shuichi and treat him as her [[TheBeard Beard]] because she feels that's what she "should" be doing. After her friends [[WhatTheHellHero call her out]] on forcing herself into a onesided relationship, Kumiko eventually dumps Shuichi.
* ''Metamorphosis (2013)'' is an infamous and highly controversial H-manga that depicts a young woman falling victim to sexual abuse and drug addiction, ending with the heroine DrivenToSuicide via drug overdose while heavily pregnant. One reader, aghast at this, created a new ending simply titled "I'm Gonna Fix That Girl", wherein [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Josuke Higashikata and Okuyasu Nijimura]] find her shortly after shooting up a lethal dose of heroin, and Josuke uses [[CombatMedic Crazy Diamond]] to save her life and give her the happy ending she deserves. The ending scene from the original H-manga, which was a DyingDream of the heroine with her daughter, is changed so that she actually lives thanks to Josuke. The edit is so popular that hentai sites often feature it despite it having no sexually explicit content of its own.
** As a variant to the above, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrNvSW0h-mE one fully-animated version]] involves [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders Jotaro Kujo]] in his ''Stardust Crusaders'' incarnation appearing to rescue Saki very close to the start, right before the events that took place in the original H-manga were set in motion. Before [[AbusiveParents Saki's father]] can [[ParentalIncest commit incest on her]], Jotaro arrives with Star Platinum, and let's just say, [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown a healthy burst of justice gets meted out]].
** ''Fanfic/ASeriesOfFortunateEvents'' shows Saki Yoshida surviving her drug overdose with her daughter; she moves on to raise her daughter in peace and has a happy life like that dying dream she had in the manga.
* [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12718703/1/Resurrection-F-The-Prince-s-Due Resurrection F: The Prince's Due]] changes the ending of ''Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF'' so [[spoiler:Vegeta manage to stop Frieza from destroying the Earth in time before obliterating him]].
%%* ''Manga/{{Bokurano}}'' has received one in ''FanFic/DairantouSaintZearth''
* ''Manga/ICantUnderstandWhatMyHusbandIsSaying'' features an InUniverse example. Miki (a.k.a. Destiny Fucker) is a member of a Doujinshi circle called "Fate Deniers" that specializes in turning series with {{Bad Ending}}s into good ones; ''Manga/{{Saikano}}'' was specifically mentioned as one of the canons they used.
* ''FanFic/Digimon02TheStoryWeNeverTold'' has the fic reveal that TK's novel of ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' was an idealized version of what truly happened and under Kari's urgings, rewrite the story to represent the real version of what happened when they were young.
* The aptly named [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13274631/1/Dragon-Ball-Z-Resurrection-F-Alternate-Ending Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' - Alternate Ending]] has Vegeta stopping Frieza from destroying the planet before delivering a beatdown and obliterating along with Frieza's planet with a Final Flash.
* [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11161847/1/The-Vicious-Gods-Wrath The Vicious Gods Wrath]] is an alternate retelling of ''Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF'' where Frieza is far more competent and pragmatic than his original counterpart. In it, he manage to devise several schemes that throws the Z-Fighters off-guard while also exploring in depth as to how Frieza managed to so strong. Additionally, unlike the canon where his Golden Form runs out of stamina quickly due to not learning to master it, in this fic Frieza fully trained the form ensuring that his form has no drawbacks. And while Frieza still dies in the end, he does so with a smile, knowing full well of the personal damage he caused to the heroes.
* ''Fanfic/SynepeiesACollectionOfNTRConsequences'' does this towards several {{Netorare}} doujins. Usually, either the hapless protagonist who gets his girlfriend 'stolen' from him GrewASpine, or an OriginalCharacter will intervene on his behalf, and in some way dole out AdaptationalKarma to the antagonist and the cheating woman, who at minimum will be completely humiliated by the end. Meanwhile, the protagonist learns to move on and typically gets a new, loving girlfriend who is a far better match than the cheater.
* The finale of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans'' was ''extremely'' [[AudienceAlienatingEnding controversial]] among the fanbase, so naturally there exists some fanworks that rewrite the finale in some way.
** ''[[https://m.fanfiction.net/s/13236726/1/Until-the-End-of-Line Until the End of Line]]'' fixes [[spoiler:Mikazuki]]'s death by having [[spoiler:Julietta]] pull a HeelFaceTurn to save him, allowing him to return to his family and raise their child.
** ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/33904480 Our Family Changed Shape]]'' is a one-shot that, according to a comment by the writer, takes place in a timeline where [[spoiler:Shino's all-or-nothing shot [[AdaptationalKarma succeeded]] in killing [[BigBad Rustal]], presumably preventing Gjallarhorn's canonical [[TheBadGuyWins victory]]]]. As a result, [[spoiler:Mikazuki and Orga survive (albeit the latter is confined to a wheelchair)]] and the fic shows them years later [[spoiler:having fun with their new family, Kudelia, Atra, and Mikazuki's son Akatsuki, and joyfully learning Kudelia is pregnant as well]].
* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/50311702/chapters/127101616 Reflections in the Mirror]]'' is based on the author's frustration with ''Anime/YohaneTheParhelionSunshineInTheMirror'', seeing the anime as not living up to the potential as a fantasy adaptation of ''Anime/LoveLiveSunshine''. The author plans to have the story go off the rails from the original plot, and already adds more magical elements such as Yohane's mother and Riko already being mages at the start of the story or Lailaps starting as an actual {{Familiar}} for Yohane as the girl learns to use her newly awakened magic.

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''Fanfic/ACrookedMan'': The premise of the story is Johann preventing and reverting the disasters and tragedies in the Marvel Universe.
** Johann's first act in the MU is resurrecting all the inhabitants on Genosha that died in Cassandra Nova's Sentinel attack; resurrecting the X-Men students that were killed in William Stryker's attack during the Decimation; and restoring all mutants of their powers.
** He also modified some [[BlessedWithSuck mutants of their uncontrollable powers or disfiguring appearances]]. Cyclops is able to turn off his optic beams without his glasses. Rogue doesn't completely drain people of their life energies and can touch people again. Less human-like mutants such as Rockslide and Glob Herman can switch back into their human forms. Professor Xavier's spine is healed and can now walk again. Legion is made sane.
** Johann prevents the events of World War Hulk from happening by defusing the bombs that would have devastate Sakaar and revealing Miek's crimes to Hulk.
** Johann convinces Ben Urich in releasing the evidences that incriminate Tony Stark in all the illegal activities he undertook to bolster support for the SRA. This lead to the breakdown of the SRA and criminalizing Stark and other affiliates who abused the SRA.
** Johann resurrects Captain America and MVP.
** He captures a depowered Red Skull and turning him over to Israel.
** {{Averted|Trope}} for Ben Grimm, who refuses to accept Johann's offer to turn him back to his human form due to disliking Johann's role in Reed Richards' arrest.
* ''ComicBook/ChickTracts'' have become a magnet for {{Remix Comic}}s and Fix Fic of this sort, thanks to their endemic research failures. Most of them completely change the worldview espoused by the comic, but there are some exceptions: Morrakiu's DramaticReading of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmyNyVVWlbo The Poor Revolutionist"]] is just as anti-communist as the original, but is far more intelligent about it.
* ''Fanfic/ABetterClassOfCriminal'' seems to be leaning this way, retelling ''ComicBook/BatmanNoMansLand'' with a supervillain elected mayor and made responsible for holding society in Gotham together.
* Chris Dee's ''Fanfic/CatTales'' series Fix Fics every piece of bad characterization and {{Retcon}} inflicted on ''ComicBook/{{Catwoman}}'' since the late 80's -- the {{Wangst}}-filled past as a ghetto prostitute, the string of {{Squick}}y non-Bat love interests and the infamous goggle-wearing costume change are cleanly slate-wiped as the machinations of a low-brow tabloid, to which the real Catwoman responds in a... unique... way. The series has evolved into an AlternateUniverseFic with over 50 stories.
* A lot of Dark Mark's [[http://members.tripod.com/Dark_Mark/darkmark1.htm DC]] and [[https://web.archive.org/web/20090303083032/http://darkmark90.tripod.com/darkmark2.html Marvel]] stories fixes developments that the author didn't agree with: ''Fanfic/HellsisterTrilogy'', ''Fanfic/KaraOfRokyn'' and ''Fanfic/TheGoldenBoysLastTemptation'' change the ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths''' outcome so TheMultiverse is saved and ComicBook/{{Supergirl}} survives, ''Fanfic/XMen1970'' has the original ComicBook/XMen retire shortly after their original run, thus sparing them from later tragedies, ''[[Fanfic/FireDarkMark FIRE!]]'' has Gwen Stacy survive Green Goblin's attempted murder...
* ''Fanfic/EmpathTheLuckiestSmurf'' revisits Papa Smurf's infatuation with Smurfette from "Romeo And Smurfette" (both from the comic books and the cartoon show) and puts the issue entirely to rest by Smurfette telling him that she could never love him the same way that she would the other Smurfs. Of course, an alternate timeline tale has her confess her love for Papa Smurf, leading to a MayDecemberRomance that eventually has most of the entire village revolting against it.
* ''Fanfic/LeagueOfExtraordinaryGentlemenTempestRewrite'' is, well, a rewrite of the final volume of ''ComicBook/LeagueOfExtraordinaryGentlemen''. While the original comic was focused on delivering an elongated TakeThat to everything [[Creator/AlanMoore the author]] hates while arguing that modern storytelling is a cultural wasteland, this story dismantles those very arguments by reportraying characters who got demonized as their original heroic selves, while bringing in many modern fictional characters (and public domain ones that got overlooked in earlier volumes) and giving them the same respect as literary classics.
* ''Fanfic/LoudBoyAltered'' is a rewrite of the original comic books.
* hayley566's [[https://www.deviantart.com/hayley566/gallery/88257841/mangaverse-reimagined "Mangaverse Reimagined"]] project is, as stated in the title, a reimagining of the ''Manga/MarvelMangaverse'' aimed at turning it into less of a ShallowParody and more of a genuine attempt at re-imagining Marvel characters in a Japanese/manga style. The most notable example is the differing takes on ComicBook/ThePunisher -- while the original ''Mangaverse'' version of him was pretty much InNameOnly (being a female principal with a rather kinky way of going about fighting crime), the ''Reimagined'' version retains the GenderFlip but instead makes her an ''onryō'' seeking revenge on those that killed her family, which is closer to the original character while still retaining plenty of Japanese influence.
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6470827/1/Not_a_Typical_Civil_War Not a Typical Civil War]]'' is not just a fix fic about Marvel's Civil War, it actually has instructions by the author on how to fix stories every chapter. According to him, he does little fix fics in his mind all the time, and this is just one of them he's decided to write.
* ''[[http://archiveofourown.org/works/7768042 Oracle: Re Birth]]'' is a one-shot that fixes the New 52 {{retool}} of [[ComicBook/{{Batgirl}} Barbara Gordon]]. It turns out Barbara is still Oracle (and wheelchair bound) but someone else - who turns out to be [[spoiler:an android with her memories]] - has been masquerading as Batgirl while Barbara is held hostage.
* ''ComicBook/SecretEmpire'' was critizised for its ending. After committing many crimes as a US dictator, Captain America is simply "fixed" by a cosmic cube, and returned to his usual self. Many felt it as a KarmaHoudini and a complete cop-out. Many fans did not like either that the ComicBook/UltimateMarvel ceased being published a couple of years before, and the cameo of the original Ultimates in ''Ultimates 2'' #100 felt like very little. ''Fanfic/SecretEmpireTheUltimateEnding'' fixes all this, by making the Ultimates bring the Secret Empire to an end earlier.
* ''[[http://www.5earths.info/ The Five Earths Project]]'' is a Fix Fic series of stories that restore the original DC Comics Multiverse continuity that existed before ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths'' by having the merged Post-Crisis universe be split again into five separate universes, with Superboy-Prime being HappilyAdopted as the son of the Earth-2 Superman and Lois Lane to avert the tragic life turn that was made on the character in the mainstream continuity.
* ''Fanfic/WhateverHappenedToElfstar'' is a retelling of the ''ComicBook/ChickTracts'' story ''[[http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.asp Dark Dungeons]]'' which gives a rational explanation for the events of the story and cuts out the [[TheNewRockAndRoll demonization of role-playing games]].
** Ms. Frost, here named Gina, is given a motive for killing off Marcie's character Black Star (she was jealous of how close Marcie was getting to Debbie, whom she wanted for herself).
** Marcie reacts so negatively to her character dying, even being DrivenToSuicide, not because of the game itself but because she was repeatedly being bullied by Gina and got kicked out of the group for calling her out on it, leaving her friendless.
** Debbie finds the preacher's words condemning D&D as witchcraft absurd, but decides to quit the friend circle and burn her D&D stuff not because it is "evil occultic material", but as a symbolic gesture of putting her past with Gina behind her, as she realizes what a ToxicFriendInfluence Gina was and wants to cut off all contact.
* ''Fanfic/WithThisRingGreenLantern'' fixes the events of the ''Franchise/GreenLantern'' lore so that Katma Tui doesn't get murdered, Hal Jordan doesn't go nuts, and Hal and Carol get married.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Strips]]
* Many fans of ''ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse'' had some bitter feelings about the strip's last few years, and several have come up with ways to rationalize them:
** ''[[http://insertmonikerhere.blogspot.com/ Foob's Paradise]]'' is a fix comic that portrays the final canonical plotline about Liz's wedding as the delirious fantasy of a broken Elly Patterson. It also shows [[OnceMoreWithClarity what "really" happened]], mostly from Liz's perspective.
** ''[[http://allfoobedup.blogspot.com/ Foobar]]'' is a fix comic that explains the "new-runs" with magic; Elly, in a desperate attempt to fix everything she thinks is wrong with her life, managed to transport the other characters to the past to [[MentalTimeTravel inhabit their 1981 bodies]]. Characters born after 1979 are out of luck, and they're left in [[ThereAreNoAdults a world without the adults]]. Both factions can communicate through April's TimeTravel ability and are trying to resist. Once the main strip transitioned to straight reprints, ''Foobar'' had the characters succeed and allow Elly to send them back to the future. Elly herself, at this point divorced for six months, is left more or less isolated and has learned precisely nothing except that she was destined to be a housewife. Public discussion of the time warp eventually leaves her trapped in her own body, endlessly replaying the past.
** ''Fanfic/TheNewRetcons'' is the effort of a group of bloggers to write unofficial continuations of the strip. The final development is [[http://community.livejournal.com/binky_betsy/762834.html?thread=50820562#t50820562 Elly Patterson's death]] as the result of a bungled attempt to murder John by a third party; the logic behind that is that the strip is going into straight reprints because Elly is dead and we're seeing [[MyLifeFlashedBeforeMyEyes her life flash before our eyes]]. One of those bloggers went on to write ''[[http://noblephoenix.livejournal.com/1828.html The Unauthorized Liography of the Patterson Family]]'', whose ending is very much a fix fic, in which [[spoiler:Michael realizes he's [[GenerationXerox become Elly]], seeks therapy, and becomes a CoolOldGuy; Liz realizes she made a mistake marrying Anthony, divorces him (with ''[[EnemyMine Therese]]'', of all people acting as her attorney), and marries Warren; April reconciles with her siblings; and John and Elly... die within minutes of each other from bad eating habits]]. Hey, for the fans, that ''was'' an improvement.

[[folder:Crossovers]]
* Fics where [[Franchise/HarryPotter Harry Potter]] is taken from the Dursleys and raised by a character from another franchise are fairly popular, with the character from the other franchise often pointing out the obvious flaws in the Wizarding World, Hogwarts' rules/conduct, or decisions made by prominent characters (Dumbledore often [[CallingTheOldManOut gets called out]] for some of his decisions). These fics also usually end up punishing the Dursleys for their mistreatment of Harry (how extreme this punishment is depends on the writer), and explaining how/why no one ever noticed the tell-tale signs that Harry was being abused. Fics like ''Fanfic/HarryTano'' and ''Fanfic/IfWishesWerePonies'' are examples of this.
* The fic ''Fanfic/LightingCandles'' addresses how the Guardians' original process of meeting new spirits and (if they're chosen) helping them become a Guardian was flawed, with them admitting that if they hadn't ignored Jack Frost for 300 years before trying to make him a Guardian, then he might have been more receptive to joining.
* ''Fanfic/TheMountainAndTheWolf'': Zigzagged in the ''Series/GameOfThrones'' / ''TabletopGame/WarhammerFantasy'' crossover ''Fanfic/TheMountainAndTheWolf''. On the one hand, the Wolf's interference has rescued several characters from their canon deaths ([[spoiler:Theon, Beric, Missandei, Qyburn, Jaime and Cersei]]) and killed others in far more deserving ways ([[spoiler:Clegane, twice, Ramsay, Littlefinger, Euron]]). On the other hand, Chaos is now poised to invade Westeros, some of those rescued have joined him, [[spoiler:those dead characters have now returned as monstrous servants of Chaos]], and quite a few horrific events still happened, just less badly than before (e.g. [[spoiler:Daenerys ''still'' torches King's Landing]], but this time it's visibly due to an enemy spell, and because she immediately sets to work [[spoiler:rebuilding the city]] the inhabitants are a lot faster to forgive her).
* ''Fanfic/ThingsYouCannotForget'': Rin's 'neutral' ending from ''VisualNovel/KatawaShoujo'' has her drift away from Hisao to pursue her career in art at a school in Tokyo, possibly to her own personal detriment. In this fic, the school she transfers to is Kosei High, where she makes the acquaintance of Yusuke Kitagawa. Her story then intertwines with that of the Phantom Thieves as the events of ''VideoGame/Persona5'' unfold. Those events allow Rin to self-actualize more fully than how the neutral ending plays out. The fic is even tagged [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/37422793/chapters/93392647 “Turning the Neutral Ending into a Good Ending.”]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* ''Fanfic/AtTheFoodCourt'' is this to the Cori Falls' ''Pokemon'' fanfiction, removing that ProtagonistCenteredMorality and having Team Rocket (who in Cori's fics beat up Ash so bad he went insane, yet are portrayed as heroes) face justice for their crimes.
* The ending of ''Fanfic/TheKarmaOfLies'' had mixed reactions thanks to [[spoiler:Lila being a KarmaHoudini while Adrien suffered the consequences for her crimes in addition to his own misdeeds]], which some felt was too harsh even for the unrepentant and blatantly self-centered characterization he displayed in the fic. A few {{Recursive Fanfiction}}s address these points:
** ''Fanfic/KarmasABitch'' likewise averts Lila's [[spoiler:KarmaHoudini]] status and Chloé's redemption arc, and is overall more positive toward most of the main cast for those who disliked the high salt levels in the original. It also averts and deconstructs the [[FandomSpecificPlot popular Saltinette characterization]] ''Karma's'' Marinette had shades of in favor of addressing her canonical issues with jealousy and impulsiveness, taking a more balanced look at the situation and exploring why various characters act the way they do.
** ''Fanfic/WhatGoesAroundComesAroundMiraculousLadybug'' follows many plot beats from ''Karma'', but tones down Adrien's suffering at the end, showing that while he's screwed up badly and is paying for it, he's also learned some valuable lessons and [[spoiler:will have a chance to start over with his relatives in London]]. Lila and Chloé also get hit with AdaptationalKarma, fixing the unsatisfying nature of the former [[spoiler:being a KarmaHoudini]] and of the latter making a HeelFaceTurn for those who thought she'd already crossed the MoralEventHorizon in canon and shouldn't have had a redemption arc.
* ''Fanfic/CinderellaTheTRUESequel'' is both this and a ScriptFic, giving the existing version of ''[[WesternAnimation/CinderellaIIIATwistInTime A Twist in Time]]'' even more emotional depth.
* ''Fanfic/MyBravePonyStarfleetMagic'' is both controversial and infamous enough that several fanfic authors have set out to either deconstruct its premise (e.g. ''Fanfic/FallOfStarfleetRebirthOfFriendship'' and ''Fanfic/MyBravePonyStarfleetNemesis'') or rewrite the story entirely (e.g. ''Fanfic/StarfleetRedone'' and ''Fanfic/StarfleetMagicIsBelieving'').
* ''Fanfic/ReallyIsntYourFault'' is this to ''Webcomic/ItsNotYourFault'' by removing the IdiotBall from the characters since the fake photo's scandal was solved quickly, thus the relationships between Luna & Sam and Lincoln & Stella are never ruined, with Rusty getting LaserGuidedKarma on the end.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* Several fanfics for ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyTheMovie2017'' remove TheWorfEffect treatment of the Mane 6. Two such examples can be found [[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/387838/mlp-movie-the-significantly-shorter-version here]] and [[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/388058/mlp-the-movie-lightsabers-save-the-day here]].
* The whole point of ''Webcomic/The13thGhostOfScoobyDoo'' is that it serves as an alternate ending to ''WesternAnimation/The13GhostsOfScoobyDoo'' for fans who weren't happy with the changes made in the [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooDirectToVideoFilmSeries direct-to-video film]] ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheCurseOfThe13thGhost''. The most notable divergence from ''Curse of the 13th Ghost'' is that the Asmodeus Mystery, Inc. faces is the genuine article instead of [[ScoobyDooHoax another crook in a monster costume]] as was originally intended by the writers.
* ''Franchise/{{Frozen}}'':
** ''Fanfic/AFrozenHeadache'' "fixes" an issue the writer had with ''WesternAnimation/Frozen2013'': Elsa hit her head, blacked out, and walked away fine a few hours later. The story adds in a dose of SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome by giving Elsa a concussion.
** ''Fanfic/WhenAllIsLostThenAllIsFound'' changes the controversial ending to ''WesternAnimation/FrozenII''. Elsa isn't [[spoiler:instantly revived]] and Anna goes on an adventure to save her.
* ''Fanfic/Flashpoint2AdventSolaris'' is essentially a 2-in-1 fix fic of both ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueDarkApokolipsWar'' and ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'' with the first half being dedicated to a retelling of the latter and the second half being focused on the former. Apokolips War is the primary one being "fixed" though, via use of a TimeTravel induced CosmicRetcon to full-on undo the events of the film prior to the invasion of Apokolips, putting everyone back to where they were prior to all of those events. [[spoiler:The fic also ignores Jason Todd being AdaptedOut (and WordOfGod saying the Robin mantle went from Dick directly to Damian) and the WordOfGod that the first Kid Flash was in fact Barry by depicting Jason (as his usual role of a former Robin turned Red Hood) and Wally as the first Kid Flash.]]
* Creator/MaxGilardi came up with a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q9iozzThg8 concept rewrite]] for ''WesternAnimation/TheEmojiMovie'', which focuses on Alex's phone addiction causing him severe issues in life, and the emojis in his phone have to help him end his addiction and talk to his parents about his issues.
* ''Fanfic/OnceUponAStudioVersionTwoPointOh'' is a huge extended cut of Creator/{{Disney}}'s [[WesternAnimation/OnceUponAStudio centenary short]]; a huge ScriptFic written by lifelong Disney fans Matthew Muir and Lauren Sharpe, who believed the existing short had even more potential. It gives WesternAnimation/{{Cinderella}}, WesternAnimation/{{Moana}}, [[WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}} Rapunzel]] and their respective princes and families a considerably larger role in bringing the spirits of the other characters back up after Goofy's unfortunate accident.
** Rapunzel starts up an even more epic, rousing rendition of [[WesternAnimation/{{Pinocchio}} "When You Wish Upon a Star"]] on her guitar, and Cinderella sings the opening lines, before handing over to [[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast Belle and the Beast's]] duet. This new rendition steadily gains momentum as more and more characters join in, and others step into fix Goofy's earlier mistake, and it ultimately becomes an even grander and more epic finale than that of the existing OUAS, with everyone triumphantly singing the final verse as a unified ensemble. The finale even involves Cinderella and the Prince, Rapunzel and Eugene, and [[WesternAnimation/{{Aladdin}} Aladdin and Jasmine]] [[MusicalNod singing the opening lines to the choruses of their own signature tunes]], before everyone proudly sings the line "Your dreams come true!", as Tinker Bell finally uses her wand to create the photo. The new photo even includes Moana's father, Chief Tui, standing proudly alongside her and Cinderella, Yo-Yo Flamingo and the Spring Sprite from ''WesternAnimation/Fantasia2000'', and even [[GhostReunionEnding the spirit]] of [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 Mufasa]] watching proudly from the roof of the studio building.
** This is followed soon afterwards by [[WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue a relaxing epilogue scene]] set in the studio's lounge area, where Mickey, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother and a number of other characters send the audience off with a heartfelt address, assuring them of the Walt Disney Company's bright and promising future, before bidding their respective farewells, as we fade into the heartwarming end caption: [[ThankingTheViewer "To all who have imagined with us, laughed with us, and dreamed with us, Thank You"]].
** This version also brings back even more Disney voice acting legends who were previously absent, including Creator/KateHiggins as [[WesternAnimation/SleepingBeauty Aurora]], Creator/LindaLarkin as Jasmine, Creator/ErnieSabella as Pumbaa, Creator/TonyGoldwyn and Creator/MinnieDriver as [[WesternAnimation/{{Tarzan}} Tarzan and Jane]], Creator/ZacharyLevi as Eugene, Creator/ChristopherDanielBarnes as Prince Charming and [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid Prince Eric]], and even Creator/TemueraMorrison as Chief Tui.

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* ''[[Fanfic/AbraxasHrodvitnon Abraxas]]'' by Hrodvitnon started out as one to the Franchise/MonsterVerse, particularly ''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019'' after the movie saw Creator/SallyHawkins[='=] character Vivienne Graham unceremoniously killed off after having gotten very limited characterization across her two movie appearances. The fic sees Vivienne resurrected and transformed by San's severed head into half of a TwoBeingsOneBody Titan, and it does more to flesh out Vivienne's character whilst giving her a concrete, story-long character arc.
* Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse
** ''Fanfic/TheFourthOfJuly'' is one for Sharon Carter's whole MCU depiction, due to how she was DemotedToExtra and given the ChuckCunninghamSyndrome later on in the franchise ([[spoiler:and turn to villainy in ''Series/TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier'']]), giving more build up for her and Steve's relationship.
** After ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' came out, several of these were written. Some go out of their way to either [[spoiler:prevent the deaths of certain characters (particularly Black Widow and Iron Man)]] or address certain FridgeLogic issues due to the [[TimeyWimeyBall nature of the movie's use of time travel]]. One specific example is the story ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/18830404/chapters/44685430 Backwards]]'', which takes a critical eye at [[spoiler:Steve Rogers' actions during the ending in the movie]].
* ''Film/BeyondTheValleyOfTheDolls'': This schlocky fever dream written by Creator/RogerEbert has inspired a few fanfics which prevent the massacre committed by Z-Man at the end of the film. ''Fanfic/TitaniaAndOberon'' ([[https://archiveofourown.org/works/26506924/chapters/64601986 link here]]) is one such example, as Z-Man's friendships with Roxanne and the Carrie Nations, plus a developing romance with Harris, lead to him shaking off his darker impulses.
* Of the few ''Theatre/TheChildrensHour'' fanfics that exist, almost all of them make Karen [[spoiler:break open Martha's bedroom door]] a few seconds earlier, which in turn has Martha's [[spoiler:[[InterruptedSuicide suicide failing]]]]. Angsty romance may follow. ''Fanfic/UnNatural'' is one example.
* A fair amount of ''Film/TheFavourite'' fanfiction has Queen Anne not believe or pardon the accusations of money embezzlement that Abigail leveled at Sarah, thus allowing Sarah to remain at court. Particularly idealistic fics may follow with Sarah and Abigail becoming very VitriolicBestBuds and maybe lovers. A good (and SFW) example of this is ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/21842422 a glorious triptych]]''.
* ''Film/JurassicWorld'' fanfiction often produces stories where the Indominus Rex became a heroic character. One example is ''FanFic/ItsNotTheRaptorDNA'', in which Indominus Rex is recognized as sapient in the middle of her rampage, giving her a chance to recover and redeem herself.
* Almost all of the few ''Film/MidnightCowboy'' fanfics on Platform/ArchiveOfOurOwn have Ratso Rizzo receive medical treatment in time to cure him of his IncurableCoughOfDeath and live HappilyEverAfter with Joe Buck in Florida, usually with a RelationshipUpgrade. For example, ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/19945186 I won't let you leave my love behind]]'' and its sequels. And of the ''very'' few that include his canonical death, several, such as ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/17569856 Pale Blue Star]]'', have him [[GenreShift come back as a ghost]] to stay with Joe.
* ''Franchise/StarWars'' Fix Fic that's actually fanfiction is practically a genre unto itself.
** A number of fix fics purport to do a better job of making the prequel trilogy justifiably fit into continuity better than George did himself: ''[[http://darthside.blogspot.com/ The Darth Side: Memoirs of a Monster]],'' a story presented essentially as Darth Vader's personal journal during the events of the original trilogy (making a number of references to the prequels) and the short, almost essay-length ''[[http://km-515.livejournal.com/746.html A New Sith or Revenge of the Hope: Reconsidering Star Wars IV in the light of I-III]].''
** ''WebVideo/WhatIfTheStarWarsPrequelsWereGood'' is a video series where Michael Barryte rewrote the script to the all three prequel films to address most of the flaws of the original movies. Among other things: getting rid of [[TheScrappy Jar-Jar Binks]], having [[EnsembleDarkhorse Darth Maul]] serve as TheHeavy of the prequels, giving more time to develop Anakin and Obi-Wan's friendship, turning Owen Lars into a BadassNormal pilot who is BashBrothers with Anakin instead of his sort-of non-biological brother. It also removes the prequels' overreliance on nostalgia and references to the OT.
** After ''Literature/TheThrawnTrilogy'' came out, and books following that were...less well regarded, fanficcers developed a mini-genre of "Zahn fixes," such as "How Creator/TimothyZahn Could Fix This Mess," versions [[http://www.clubjade.net/fanfic/howzahn1.html One]] and [[http://www.clubjade.net/fanfic/howzahn2.html Two]]. It's still going post-Literature/NewJediOrder, with [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/695806/1/How-Zahn-Could-Fix-This-Mess-II How Zahn Could Fix This Mess II]]. The general theme seems to be shunting everything into an AlternateUniverse or [[AllJustADream bad dream]].
** ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4259199/1/Sidereal Sidereal]]'' and ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4286500/1/Tyranny_Reborn Tyranny Reborn]]'' are Fix Fics where the author explicitly states that they are AU according to how he wanted the franchise to go and specifically named ''Dark Empire,'' the ''Jedi Academy'' trilogy (which these stories are specifically to override), ''New Jedi Order, Dark Nest,'' and ''Legacy of the Force'' as what he was avoiding. (''Sidereal'' begins five weeks after the end of The Thrawn Trilogy.) [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2434632/1/Out_of_the_Shadows This]] one from a different author is more of a straight AU, but has a specific point that it takes off from (right after ''The Truce at Bakura'') and goes in an intentionally far different direction from the profic. (In general both authors seem to reject the idea of Luke Skywalker, "tame Jedi.")
** ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5665753/1/Phantom_Menace_The_Unauthorized_Rewrite Phantom Menace: The Unauthorized Rewrite]]'' is the first in a series of three attempts by a fan to squash the prequel trilogy into a more palatable substance in novel form. Read: No [[TheScrappy Jar-Jar]], no [[DoingInTheWizard Midi-Chlorians]], no 14-year-old elected Queens and no wee Anakin staring wide-eyed at anything and everything. It's pretty dark with a major focus on Dooku and pre-cyborg Grievous even in the first volume. The [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5730908/1/Attack-of-the-Clones sequel]] is even darker, rewriting ''Attack of the Clones'' to include blood, gore, even ''sex''.
** ''Star Wars: Cerulean'' retcons the events of the ''Revenge of the Sith'' film: Bly disobeyed Order 66 and instead of killing Aayla Secura, he just [[HesJustHiding faked her death]]. [[http://web.archive.org/web/20100324030831/http://seijimei.150m.com/Cerulean/Cerulean.html Part 1]], [[http://web.archive.org/web/20100325053715/http://seijimei.150m.com/Cerulean/CeruleanPrequel.html prequel]].
** ''Legacy of the Sith'' is a fanfic series that replaces the last two books of the ''Literature/NewJediOrder'' and continues on afterwards, with the premise being that Anakin Solo was ''not'' killed by the Yuuzhan Vong but rather captured and brainwashed, and has just managed to escape. It wraps up the ''NJO'' in a manner largely reminiscent of the canon (though with different characters filling different specific roles) and then goes in a wildly divergent course. It's ''awesome''.
** There was a short fic in Russian (a [[http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=121133 translation]] to English exists) about how the events of the Naboo occupation were distorted when the First Episode was made (due to HistoricalHeroUpgrade, RuleOfCool, and certain other things featured on this site). Instead of a pointless dispute over taxing a remote world, for example, you have a dispute over a very profitable drug trade, Watto was ready to accept dataries, but only in cash, and the Federation droids didn't shut down... actually, they defeated the Gungans right when the station blew up, and simply received no pursuit orders.
** Another fix it fic for the prequels is [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/14062524/chapters/32395740 Before the Dark Times]] that fix alot of the prequels screw ups on not fitting in with the OT canon wise in certain regards, actually had Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship as brothers, no [[TheScrappy Jar-Jar]], no [[DoingInTheWizard Midi-Chlorians]] among other things.
** ''Fanfic/TheSithResurgence'' is a Sequel Trilogy rewrite that discards of most of the trilogy's contentious content (such as most of the twists, the similarities to the Original Trilogy, much of the established romantic storylines, potentially others) in favor of a more streamlined experience that differs as a result of the addition of new characters.
** ''Fanfic/ThePropertiesOfRedemption'' is a rare example of a [[spoiler: Ben lives]] fic, only with a twist in both it being canon compliant (Ben [[spoiler: is resurrected]]) as well as having Ben not end up with Rey, but Poe.
* ''Fanfic/EmaelMosekhesailho'' is partially a fix fic for ''Film/StarTrekNemesis'', using a {{reconstruction}} to explain how the MilitaryCoup against the Romulan government could've possibly succeeded. Among other things a [[StateSec Tal Shiar]] officer theorizes a massive conspiracy within the military and political establishment that's going to take years to unravel, and Shinzon avoids public appearances to hide the fact that he's human, and his service record as a SlaveMook during the Dominion War is made classified and hidden behind a firewall.

* ''Literature/{{Animorphs}}'':
** ''Fanfic/AllAssortedAnimorphsAUs'':
*** "What if they had a chance to do it all over again?" has all 6 Animorphs get the PeggySue treatment, [[TaughtByExperience using their experience]] from the war to prevent failures like [[SixthRangerTraitor David]] from happening and end the war much earlier.
*** "What if they saved Jake's family?" begins with the way [[https://thejakeformerlyknownasprince.tumblr.com/post/140360755718/30-days-of-animorphs Sol would've written the evacuations in #49]]: instead of each family going one at a time, the group splits up into pairs of Cassie and Tobias (who gently tell the former's parents), Rachel and Ax (who argue with the former's family), and Jake and Marco (who drag the former's family into the car by force using their battle morphs).
*** Many chapters spare [[spoiler:the real Tom because he's one of the author's favourite characters, and/or the Auxiliary Animorphs because she took issue with a bunch of disabled characters being killed off and then forgotten about.]]
** ''Fanfic/{{Daemorphing}}'' has some aspects of a fix-it, such as addressing continuity errors and solving problems in some very different, less immediately disastrous ways, notably this also makes a great number of new problems appear, and makes the threat posed by the Andalites even more explicit, without the means canon used to defuse it.
** While the author of ''Fanfic/{{Eleutherophobia}}''[[note]]Who also wrote ''All Assorted Animorphs [=AUs=]''[[/note]] likes the ending of ''Animorphs'', [[https://thejakeformerlyknownasprince.tumblr.com/post/164971323484/cmere-squirt-i-said-roughly-he-took-two the idea behind it]] was to have Jake's post-war life suck slightly less than in canon. She accomplished this by [[spoiler:sparing Tom.]]
** There are a few fics where Elfangor didn't die after the crash and was able to lead the Animorphs, such as ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5847959/1/Elfangors_Folly Elfangor's Folly]]''.
* Much of the ''Literature/BridgeToTerabithia'' fix fics have [[spoiler:Leslie not dying, or as the fans call it, LDD, which stands for Leslie Didn't/Doesn't Die.]] ''Fanfic/BridgeToTerabithia2TheLastTime'' further delves into [[spoiler:Jess and Leslie's life as college pals before eventually getting [[BabiesEverAfter married with children]].]]
* ''Literature/{{Carrie}}'': [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/15846753 To Play Their (my) way]] makes it so the whole prom massacre and [[spoiler: Carrie's death]] is [[AllJustADream all just a]] [[DreamingOfThingsToCome prophetic dream]] on Carrie's part. As such, she is able to head off all the various bad things (such as making it so Chris [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard gets covered in blood instead,]] and at the end she [[spoiler: kills her [[AbusiveParents horrible mother]] by using her psychic powers to [[PayEvilUntoEvil paralyze her until she dies of thirst.]]]]
* ''Literature/EndoAndKobayashiLive'': Kobayashi suggested the possibility of the two writing a fix fic featuring a Siegwald/Lieselotte pairing (which are betrothed but always ending in a breakup between them) early in the novel, right after Kobayashi got Endo into her interpretation of "[[FictionalVideoGame Love Me Magically!]]" by getting Endo playing the fandisc (and the latter nearly got a nervous breakdown from it):
-->'''Kobayashi:''' But that’s the best part! Let’s watch [[NotEvilButMisunderstood Liese-tan]] suffer through her cruelest fate and cry together! And once we’re done, we can use our depression as fuel to write Sieg x Liese-tan fanfics!
* ''Literature/GrandmasterOfDemonicCultivationMoDaoZuShi'' / ''Series/TheUntamed'':
** ''Fanfic/TheBeastOfGusu'' is an example. Thanks to the existence of shifters, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian never lose their golden cores, demonic cultivation is never created and Wei Wuxian doesn’t die after the Sunshot Campaign.
** ''Fanfic/EveryoneLivesWithKnives'' is an example too. So far, two of the major villains died earlier than they did in canon, while the third is well on the way towards redemption. Jiang Yanli, Jin Zixuan, Wen Qing and the other Wen Remnants have all lived past their canon death dates, Wei Wuxian's first death hasn't happened, and Nie Mingjue's death by qi-deviation looks increasingly unlikely to happen.
** ''Fanfic/GoldPoisons'' is a downplayed example, with the author even stating afterwards that not everything is automatically going to be okay now. However, with [[spoiler: Jin Guangshan]] out of the picture early and [[spoiler: Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao]]'s relationship improved, chances look good that more characters will be making it out alive than in-canon.
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** Subverted in ''Fanfic/TheAccidentalAnimagus'', which seemingly presses all the buttons for fixing all of Harry's problems. He's adopted by a loving family, introduced to the political situation before he goes to Hogwarts, learns wandless magic, keeps a level head in response to Draco's taunts, identifies the hidden message in Professor Snape's first class and defuses the conflict with him, gets Sirius exonerated...everything appears to be headed for smooth sailing, until it turns out that the villains have been level-grinding in the background, and everything falls apart.
** ''Fanfic/HarryPotterAndTheMethodsOfRationality'' turns Harry into the ultimate critical thinker and gleefully has him point out ''everything'' that's wrong with how magic works and the Wizarding world. However, it also gives everyone ''else'' a step up in intelligence (even [[ThoseTwoGuys Crabbe and Goyle]]). It even has an explanation for that, "fixing" the way magic works so that power comes entirely from intelligence; therefore, the powerful adults are all either TheChessmaster or a ReasonableAuthorityFigure. Sure, they do commit some ''seeming'' acts of stupidity like in the source material, but now it's either [[ObfuscatingStupidity designed to look stupid to fool people]] or [[ItMakesSenseInContext totally justified in the context of the character's new motivations]].
** The Pstibbons story ''The Writer'' depicts Hermione travelling to "our" world, only to find that Ginny has beaten her here -- and assumed the alias "Creator/JKRowling" and written the ''Harry Potter'' series. The fic posits that Ginny's account of things was [[UnreliableNarrator self-serving]] and goes on to tell us what "''really'' happened", in the process [[FanonDiscontinuity throwing out the last two books entirely]].
** ''Fanfic/MyImmortal'' never made much sense to begin with, which may be why it has a "fix chapter within a fix fic". It's written by an unknown "hacker" who breaks into the author's account, kills off Ebony, and returns everything to how it was in canon -- with one notable exception:
--->"And, because the replacement author also likes to screw around with canon, Draco and Hermione fled the scene and got married."
* ''Literature/LesMiserables'': As a story where almost every sympathetic named character dies by the end, has plenty of these. One common FandomSpecificPlot of Les Mis fix-fics is the genre known as "Post-Seine", where the canon divergence is that [[spoiler:Javert's suicide attempt, instead of succeeding as in canon, fails by Valjean's intervention]]; an example of this genre is ''Fanfic/AReflectionOfStarlight''.
* The ''{{Literature/Redwall}}'' series has quite a few Fix Fics dedicated to reviving Rose, Martin's love interest. Some try hard to keep it within {{Canon}} and provide a legitimate reason for her being OnlyMostlyDead. ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3817978 A Mask and a Song]]'' is an example of such a story.
* From the ''Literature/InheritanceCycle'', we have the 'A dance of Shadow and Light' series by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/3779251/Ocadioan Ocadioan]], which seems to fall right into this trope with [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8100008/1/The-beginnings-of-the-Shadow The beginnings of the Shadow]], where Islanzadi gets to live and [[WillTheyOrWontThey Eragon and Arya's relationship troubles finally gets resolved]]. It is then ultimately subverted by the second story, where all the little changes done in the first story proves to bring [[DarkerAndEdgier quite horrible results for Alagaësia as a whole.]] [[spoiler: ''Especially'' for the protagonists.]] Oh, and did we mention that the male protagonist is ultimately revealed to be a [[SociopathicHero Sociopathic Hero]] that is also [[TheUnfettered The Unfettered]] and a [[ManipulativeBastard Manipulative Bastard]] to boot?
* ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'':
** ''FanFic/{{Luminosity}}'' works on a simple premise: [[WhatIf What if]] Bella were "derailed" into a more rational, thinking person?
** ''[[https://twispitefic.livejournal.com/64409.html Sunspot]]'', written by raxistaicho of Blog/DasSporking (since deleted), started off as a bashfic. But the canon characters got off surprisingly easy. The focus is on an organization of vampire hunters who are ''much'' better written and more complex characters, who in turn are not focusing on the canon characters, seeing them as kind of a sideshow compared to the real villains. Most of the canon vampires thus get some positive development. Perhaps it's a fix fic in the sense that the author's sporking experience naturally drew him to fix many of the issues he saw with the canon.
* The classic 1950's short story ''Literature/TheColdEquations'' ([[ColdEquation immortalized]] as a TropeNamer) has inspired more than one Fix Fic – one recent example is "The Cold Solution" by Don Sakers, which provides [[LifeOrLimbDecision a razor-sharp solution]] to getting rid of the necessary mass.
* ''Literature/WarriorCats'':
** ''Fanfic/ADifferentOutcome'' addresses the series' genetically impossible cat designs by attributing any inconsistencies to cats either being adopted or having different biological parents who could produce kits with their coat colors and then staying silent about the matter.
** ''Fanfic/TheFireHasBurntOut'' is a rewrite starring Sandstorm instead of Firestar. It aims to improve the general world of ''Warriors'', add proper genetics, and fix things that annoy the AU's creator.
** ''Fanfic/WarriorsRedux'' revamps the first arc from the ground up. It makes the characters more cat-like, fixes genetically inaccurate designs, diversifys the Clans, and completely redoes the lore. It also fixes plot issues, such as Rusty ignoring his twolegs after being asked to join a Clan, Rusty getting into a fight and winning against a seasoned warrior (instead Rusty's owner removed his collar and Rusty was voted into [=ThunderClan=]), and Bluestar [[spoiler:being Mistyfoot and Stonefur's mother]] (which was felt as a contrived element added onto an already convoluted plot).
** ''Fanfic/WarriorsRewrite'' is a rewrite of the series. Amongst other changes, it changes the Warrior Code (for example, the ban on Cross-Clan relationships is not present), emphasises and changes relationships, expands the culture of the Clans, and adds more LGBT characters.
* ''Literature/EarthsChildren'':
** ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7666095/1/Broud-s-Destiny Broud's Destiny]]'' by Stephanie is a Pseudocanonical Fic. Broud gradually becomes more mature and tries to be a good leader, especially after he meets a young widow from the Others who is utterly unlike Ayla, and they feel compelled by the spirits, as well as by circumstances, to be together. It also fixes the "Ayla's clan are all dead/The Clan will die out" business by showing how the Clan as a whole, and Ayla's adoptive family, will survive through joining their destinies with some of the Others.
* "[[https://archiveofourown.org/collections/yuletide2010/works/139844?page=3&show_comments=true The Sun Shone on Venus]]", by Ravenbell is a sequel to Creator/RayBradbury's tragic "All Summer in a Day", tying in another important element of Bradbury's Venus. [[https://ravenbell.dreamwidth.org/3948.html The author explains here how she created the story]], which she does not see as a Fix Fic, just a sequel.
* ''WebVideo/TheLizzieBennetDiaries'' qualifies toward the end, if only because ValuesDissonance necessitated it. In the original ''Literature/PrideAndPrejudice'', [[spoiler:Lydia marrying George Wickham]] was considered the best possible outcome for the character, just because [[spoiler:society at the time would have considered her "tainted" and totally unable to marry anyone else]]. The SettingUpdate gives her another option: [[spoiler:just dump George and move on]], which is exactly what she does. Also, [[spoiler:Bing isn't quite so EasilyForgiven for dumping Jane just because his friend told him to.]]
* [[http://exharpazo.blogspot.com/ Right Behind]], a community devoted to fixing and expanding ''Literature/LeftBehind''.
* ''FanFic/TheStormDragons'' is a well-written fanfic series presenting the world of Literature/InheritanceCycle from the perspective of a family of Dragons, the titular storm dragons, and from Galbatorix. Turns the canon series on its head, and worth a read at least once.
* Subverted in ''Literature/{{Ward}}'' PeggySue fanfiction ''Fanfic/WarpXbritomartx'' (per Word of God). Although she certainly wants to avert future tragedies, Victoria wasn't one of the key players in ''[[Literature/{{Worm}} the novel "Warp" is a sequel to]]'', which means her capability to influence events and her knowledge thereof is limited.
* One fix for ''Literature/TheSilmarillion'' is to ship Túrin with Finduilas, which would prevent the whole SurpriseIncest plot. Finduilas already loves Túrin, so the fix is if Túrin returns that love. ''Fanfic/OfTurinAndFinduilas'' makes that fix.
* Many fans dissatisfied with Susan Pevensie's fate at the end of ''Literature/TheChroniclesOfNarnia'' have written continuation stories about her life after Narnia. C.S. Lewis himself encouraged this by saying that Susan's story was not finished yet. When the film adaptations in the 2000s came out, music videos on [=YouTube=] were common. One notable, using a mixture of clips from the ''Narnia'' films, ''{{Film/Labyrinth}}'' and ''{{Film/Titanic 1997}}'' - depicted an elderly Susan with an imaginative granddaughter who helped her rediscover her Narnian memories. It ended with Susan dying in her sleep but joining her siblings in Aslan's Country.
* ''Franchise/TheWitcher'':
** Letting Aiden survive his run in with Jad is a popular fix, as in ''Fanfic/{{Wolfblood}}'', ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/series/3099990 Composing Hallelujah]]'' and ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/31036886 And Love Without Penalties]]'', among others.
** ''Fanfic/TheAccidentalWarlordAndHisPack'' sees all the Witcher schools survive thier various dooms from cannon, by coming together as a single unified group that supports each other despite their diferences.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* There are a pair of fixfics focused on fixfic-ing the ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' by exploring the premise of Xander wearing an Obi-Wan Kenobi costume during the Halloween episode, not a soldier costume. Example: [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1866354/1/Jedi_Harris Part 1]] and [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2640672/1/The_Terran_Jedi Part 2]]. (Part 2 is a work in progress).
** There's a Buffyverse fixfic listed on the FanFicRecommendations page, ''[[http://parrot.moments-lost.org/earchive/viewstory.php?sid=3370 I Am What I Am]]'', wherein Xander wears a ''different'' Halloween costume, and ''really'' is able to fix everything. And when I say everything, I mean ''literally'' everything, because he has the memories of a 97-year-old Xander who remembers almost everything bad that happened to any of the Buffyverse characters.
** There are dozens of fanfics that fix the death of Tara Maclay. ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3460966/1/Difficult_to_Fight_Against_Anger Difficult to Fight Against Anger]]'' is a two-part alternate ending to season six, where Tara Maclay lives. It still manages to be DarkerAndEdgier, though, as Tara is instead raped by Warren Mears.
** One fic changed some of the events of season 3, so that Wesley and Giles were in a relationship and Wesley tried to help Faith instead of having the council take her away; though he ''did'' ask them for help, they were a lot more civil about it. PlayedWith a bit, since it actually seemed like Faith would accept their help, but it was just an act and she ended up [[TheDragon working for]] Mayor Wilkins anyway. Although, Wesley actually chose to stay in Sunnydale instead of deciding to go back to England [[Series/{{Angel}} (and ending up in LA.)]]
* ''Series/DoctorWho'':
** A blog once rewrote the entire Creator/ColinBaker era in order to "correct" the influence of Eric Saward, whom the writers despised. Read what's been finished [[http://nigelverkoff.blogspot.com/2007/03/art-of-crime.html on this blog]].
* ''Series/{{Firefly}}'' has many stories that undo [[spoiler:Wash's death]] in the [[TheMovie Big Damn Movie]]. [[http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=14891 Here's]] one of them.
** Dyce's [[FanFicRecommendations "Horseshoe Nail"]] series fixes [[spoiler:both Book ''and'' Wash's deaths]] through the Butterfly Effect of Jayne becoming closer to River. Somehow it ''works''.
** There's also ''FanFic/{{Forward}}'', which also undoes [[spoiler:Wash and Book's deaths]], though in a much more straightforward {{Retcon}}.
* ''Series/{{ER}}'' fans who hate the way Doug Ross was written out will appreciate the story "One Candle Burns", in which he decides to join the Doctors Without Borders organization, thus providing a more palatable reason for his absence during Carol's pregnancy.
** Another one written by a woman named Robin Jackson has him returning to Chicago after several months to open a clinic and reunite with Carol.
* The ''Series/GossipGirl'' story 'Coming Home' is more of a continuation ignoring the epilogue. The only major difference is that Rufus does not date Lisa Loeb and instead gets back with Dan and Jenny's mother Alison.
* ''Series/{{Glee}}:'' ''FanFic/HuntingTheUnicorn'' is a DeconstructionFic of the Kurt/Blaine relationship involving liberal amounts of {{Cerebus Retcon}}s, {{Backstory}}, and ''FridgeHorror'' for Blaine -- which turns him from a RelationshipSue into a severely damaged person who [[TheWoobie desperately needs a hug]]. The author mentions that if the writers had given Blaine less songs and more writing, his characterization could have been similar.
** ''FanFic/GleeTheVirtualSeasonFour'', from the same fandom, is written as a backlash to [[JumpingTheShark season three]] and takes some elements of the real season four while repairing some of the things it and preceding seasons did. For example, the mass ship sinking of "The Breakup" is averted; the characters still have their problems with separation and loneliness, but deal with it in other ways (some better than others).
** ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9630908/1/Glee-The-New-York-Story Glee: The New York Story]]'' is an ensemble fix fic which predominantly follows Finn Hudson who instead of going back to Lima, Ohio following his semi-honorable discharge in the army, goes to New York City and develops from an army reject, to a student--and later teacher--at a prestigious performing arts college. The first three seasons of ''Glee'' are canon, while the author diverges away from Seasons 4-6, capturing the reader in a world where Finn is alive, and successfully completes his goal in being a teacher.
* ''Series/{{Heroes}}'': [[http://community.livejournal.com/peterandclaude/ This Peter/Claude fan community]] has a bunch of FanFic that treats Peter Petrelli as a competent person while keeping the naivete and innocence that are an integral part of his character. Essentially, they make him a much more interesting character than canon has of late.
* ''Series/ICarly'': Changing the end of several episodes:
** ''iKiss'': Carly and Freddie kiss and not Sam and Freddie. Or Sam doesn't actually like the kiss (in Carly/Sam works this usually leads to Sam realizing lesbian).
** ''iSpeed Date'': Freddie notices Sam and runs after her, not the actual ending with Carly and Freddie dancing after not noticing Sam.
** ''iOMG'': Adding a post-script which solves the cliff-hanger. Freddie gently letting down Sam then going after Carly or having Carly come after him, the same but with Carly going after Sam, or just having Freddie respond to Sam positively.
* ''Series/KamenRider'' has seen outright editing the footage to make the show be watched in chronological order... which leads to a very interesting experience, with a Kamen Rider show devoid of Riders for the first three episodes, a great deal of time put into character development and world building, and calling it Kamen Rider [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF3a4ZNmr1w IXA]].
* A ''Series/LittleHouseOnThePrairie'' WhatIf fic ''Fanfic/WhatIfJohnJrAndMaryMarried'' does this to John Jr, who was written out of the show due to real-life issues behind the scenes involving Mary's actress' hostility towards his actor and his father's actor leaving the show; instead, this story has him and Mary remain a couple and John Jr stay a recurring character throghout the equivalent events of the show.
* The ''Radio/OurMissBrooks'' fanfic, "The Reunion Assembly", dismisses the last season of the TV series (where Madison High School is suddenly torn down for a freeway, and Miss Brooks becomes a teacher at an L.A. private school) as AllJustADream. [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10203524/4/Our-Miss-Brooks-The-Reunion-Assembly]]. This may be a unique case, as the writer used this trope to reconcile CanonDiscontinuity. The concurrent radio series and the subsequent [[TheMovie movie]] GrandFinale continued at Madison High as per usual.
* Most [[http://www.slidersweb.net/otherworlds/sixpage.html "virtual sixth seasons"]] of ''Series/{{Sliders}}'' follow [[ButNowIMustGo Rembrandt]] as he [[EarnYourHappyEnding earns a happy ending]] by separating Quinn and Mallory, freeing Colin from the vortex, and finishing off the Kromaggs for good.
** This one story, [[http://scribd.com/doc/73421449/Slide-Effects "Slide Effects,"]] has Quinn Mallory waking up to find time has been rewound to the Pilot, with only Quinn remembering sliding, and cheerfully resets the show to just after Season 2.
** Another fix fic that doesn't just redo the show after season 2 (and can even count as a short virtual season 6) is ''FanFic/SlidersReborn'' by the same author as "Slide Effects". In which the author uses what was established in the show to explain how Quinn, Wade, Arturo and Rembrandt can all be reunited and how the Kromagg invasion of Earth prime can be undone.
* A classic ''Franchise/StarTrek'' example is an attempt to fix an apparent continuity glitch. In the film ''[[Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan The Wrath of Khan]]'', Khan and Chekov recognize each other upon meeting. However, Chekov wasn't present in the one episode in which Khan appeared on [[Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries the original series]], "[[Recap/StarTrekS1E22SpaceSeed Space Seed]]". That's because it was a first season episode, and Chekov didn't join the cast until the second season. The semi-official FanWank is that Chekov was indeed on board the ''Enterprise'' and met Khan; he just wasn't on the bridge crew yet, so he didn't appear on screen. But this fanfic, which was long distributed in fan 'zines shortly after the film's release, went a bit further and envisioned Khan and Chekov's meeting in detail -- they bumped into each other in the bathroom.
* The ''Series/StarTrekPicard'' fic "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13535101/1/He-Lives-In-You He Lives In You]]" (featuring Soji visiting Data in the simulation before he is deleted) addresses both the question of Data having "aged" in the simulation and why they didn't download him into a new body; the physical signs of aging were actually a visual representation of Data's code having degraded after he was transferred into the simulation, and it is just too degraded to survive a transfer into a new body from an already antiquated data storage system.
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2814235/1/ A Whole New World]]'' basically undoes the events of the ''Series/BoyMeetsWorld'' series finale, but in a way that makes sense and explores things the original canon long since abandoned.
* ''FanFic/TaarokosBuffyTheVampireSlayer'' does this to the ''Series/{{Angel}}'' episode "Shells"; when Angel called Giles in an effort to get in contact with Willow to save Fred from [[EldritchAbomination Illyria's]] possession, Giles simply tells him that Willow can't be contacted because she's in the Himalayas on an astral plane, and flat-out refuses to help him at all after confirming Angel is still working for [[EvilInc Wolfram & Hart]]. Here, Willow was captured by the agents of the latest threat at the same time Fred was infected by Illyria's essence, and [[DramaPreservingHandicap was simply unable to help Angel save her either way]].
* ''FanFic/ReimaginedEnterprise'' devotes some episodes to resolving {{Continuity Snarl}}s from the ''Franchise/StarTrek'' canon, especially the guest episodes written by Tropers/{{Thande}}.
* ''FanFic/TheMysteriousCaseOfNeelixsLungs'' is an AlternateUniverseFic of ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' that's partly meant as this. They start out by killing off Captain Janeway on page one, and rewrite a number of episodes with commentary.
* ''FanFic/Season8Redo'' rewrites the detested ending of ''Series/That70sShow'' The fic begins in the last quarter of season 7 and then rewrites the end of 7 before [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin redoing season 8]] and moving on in to season 9.
* The ''Fanfic/BeingToTimelessness'' fanfic series is an AlternateUniverseFic of David Tennant's tenure on ''Series/DoctorWho'' from "School Reunion" onwards to depict how things would go if Rose and the Doctor formed a telepathic link. While most of the episodes stayed relatively the same (apart from changes made to accomodate Rose in the rewrites of series 3 and 4), the author strongly despises Steven Moffat's work and felt Moffat had no respect for the Doctor's relationship with Rose, and rewrote those stories to make the Doctor and Rose more in-character[[note]]In "The Girl in the Fireplace," the Doctor doesn't go back to snog Reinette and instead follows his lead with the clockword droids, for instance; in the "Silence in the Library" two-parter, River Song is established to just be Melody Pond and the whole thing about her being raised to kill the Doctor has been eliminated. She's also just the daughter of Amy and Rory, future companions to the Doctor and Rose[[/note]]. Some episode rewrites also saved the lives of secondary characters who were killed in the original stories[[note]]e.g. in "The Impossible Planet" two-parter, the Doctor makes a detour to rescue some of the Ood rather than leave them to die after he defeats the Beast. In "The Sontaran Strategem," Rose reminds the Doctor to play nice with the UNIT brass; subsequently, Colonel Mace is more inclined to listen to the Doctor's warnings about the Sontarans' tactics and thus fewer UNIT troops die trying to engage the Sontarans. Luke Rattigan is also spared in the episode as a result of the Doctor using some alternate thinking when it comes to blowing up the Sontaran command's ship. In "The Unicorn and the Wasp", Lady Eddison's legitimate son Roger is saved thanks to Rose getting him out of the Vespiform's path in time, a decision the author made both to lessen Lady Eddison's angst (from also losing her housekeeper and her bastard son in that same night) as well as avert the BuryYourGays trope that was very much prsent in the original episode.[[/note]] Martha's crush on the Doctor is eliminated thanks to the Doctor and Rose being married, so Martha's character moments are more emphasizing on her own strengths. Donna also keeps her memories at the end of "Journey's End" thanks to an alternate means of defeating Davros.
* ''[[https://m.fanfiction.net/s/12565412/1/Love-Carbonite Love&Carbonite]]'' is a novel-length,100 plus chapter fic that fixed Aubrey and Jessica’s break up in the finale of ''{{Series/Bones}}'' along with a few other loose ends. It’s by a pair of authors writing as Lachelle Nepper. One of the authors, mphs95, has an ongoing sequel called ''[[https://m.fanfiction.net/s/12513939/1/The-Aubrey-Chronicles The Aubrey Chronicles]]'' that gives glimpses of later parts of the timeline.
* ''Fanfic/AnEmpireOfIceAndFire'' is an AU for ''Series/GameOfThrones'' in which Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen get together a lot earlier than in canon and end up becoming Emperor and Empress of the Seven Kingdoms. Additionally, later on in the fic, the author's goal extends towards fixing a lot of the problems with Season Seven and ''especially'' Season Eight- all Daenerys' dragons live to the end of the book, along with a lot more heroic characters, the Night's King doesn't end up being an AntiClimaxBoss, Bran Stark actually gets to do something with his Three-Eyed Raven powers, and Daenerys never undergoes a forced FaceHeelTurn.
* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/17118914 Nanobotti Manicotti]]'' is a ''Series/RedDwarf'' fanfic that aims to fix the problems with Series 8. It removes some of the more uncomfortable moments (such as the events of "Krytie TV”), retains Lister's robotic arm (to keep in canon with "Future Echos") and has a more interesting explanation for the nanobot-created crew. [[spoiler: This time, the fic reveals that they are actually the descendants of the second polymorph from the titular episode, whilst Nano-Rimmer is actually the original hologrammatic one having returned as Ace.]]
* ''Fanfic/AfterTheCentre'' is a fanfic of ''Series/TheBrittasEmpire'' which aims to fix its controversial AllJustADream ending by revealing that the reveal itself was AllJustADream, with the show having actually happened in canon.

[[folder:Music]]
* An example InUniverse: In the original book by Gaston Leroux, Erik, Literature/ThePhantomOfTheOpera, ([[StalkingIsLove who terrorizes his beloved Christine]] [[AndNowYouMustMarryMe into being his wife]]) is writing a musical [[FanFiction masterpiece based on the Opera]] ''Theatre/DonGiovanni'', TheCasanova who really believes the woman who wants to love him has to accept him as a cheating {{Jerkass}} boyfriend, and who ends being dragged in hell to please the MoralGuardians. Why is it a Fix Fic? Because of the title: [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin “Don Juan Triumphant”]].
* Music/DongBangShinKi: As in...what if they didn't break up? What if there was ONLY JYJ and TVXQ in the first place, and Jae Joong and Yun Ho met by accident? What if there was no lawsuit? What if it was all of them that left SM? So many what ifs...

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000''
** ''WebAnimation/IfTheEmperorHadATextToSpeechDevice'' is an interesting case of a Fix Fic that has two layers. On one hand, the series's main premise is the Emperor fixing the setting's in-universe's problems, like reforming the [[CorruptChurch Ecclesiarchy]] and the Inquisition and redeeming [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Magnus the Red]]. On the ''other'' hand, the series also retcons, ignores, or at the very least makes fun of those aspects of the lore which are widely disliked by the fanbase. OP characters like Kaldor Draigo or the Ultramarines, are made more grounded or become comic relief, the {{Flanderization}} of the Chaos Gods is reversed (though the more nuanced take on Chaos is mostly provided by [[UnreliableNarrator Magnus]] and [[spoiler: Uriah]], so take it with a grain of salt), and the more controversial aspects of new editions are disregarded or introduced in a different manner. More widely, the dynamic plot of the series was at least initially a response to the perceived unwillingness of Games Workshop to advance the setting's storyline, but as the new editions started to bring more plot developments, [[AscendedFanon often similar to those introduced in the ''[=TTS=]''-verse]], this is now a moot point.
** ''FanFic/TalesOfTheEmperasque'' is an older take on the same concept as ''[=TTS=]''. It can be summed up as "God Emperor [[CrackFic hijacks a body of a giant lizard]] and goes on to fix everything wrong with the 'verse and save the Imperium". Awesome ensues.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theatre]]
* You have, back in the 17th century, Nahum Tate rewriting ''Theatre/KingLear'' to give it a happy ending, keeping Cordelia alive and marrying her off to Edgar. (Incidentally, Tate's version was incredibly popular; it kept Shakespeare's original off the stage for decades.)
* In 1611 John Fletcher wrote ''The Woman's Prize, or the Tamer Tamed'', a sequel to ''Theatre/TheTamingOfTheShrew'' in which the gender tables are turned and Petruchio the "tamer" is "tamed" by his second wife Maria.
* Creator/GregoryAustinMcconnell [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSQJ9W4SxiQ created one]] for Theatre/HarryPotterAndTheCursedChild.
* ''Fanfic/TheCliff'' is a fanfic of ''Theatre/TheRingOfTheNibelung'', where Brünnhilde is woken up by Mime instead of Siegfried and more than ten years earlier than in canon. As they grow closer, Mime stops being embittered and angry and no longer harbours world domination plans, while Brünnhilde makes sure Siegfried is raised better than in canon. [[spoiler:These changes eventually lead to the ring getting returned to the Rhinedaughters without any bloodshed, and absolutely everyone who was alive in the beginning of ''Siegfried'' is SparedByTheAdaptation]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games and Visual Novels]]
* ''Fanfic/HordeChampion'': Played with. For the most part, canon progresses as normal just with more focus on Sylvanas and on improving her situation, with most of the canonical events glossed over.
* ''Fanfic/JonathanJoestarTheFirstJoJo'' fixes most of the [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot problems]] that plagues its [[VideoGame/JoJosBizarreAdventureEyesOfHeaven source material]]. Such as making Jonathan more prominent in the story, and featuring more interactions between characters that didn't have much screentime together.
* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'' also houses many of those, often with some time travel and centering on Cloud. [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4659395/1/A_Box_Full_of_History Some of them]] can be very entertaining as they explain it with quantum mechanics, didn't [[DieForOurShip forget any characters somewhere]] and threw in a reference to the Revolutionary Knitting Circle for extra flavour.
* Fan-made remakes of older PC games sometimes do this. Among the more notable examples are AGD Interactive's remakes of ''VideoGame/KingsQuestII'' and ''VideoGame/KingsQuestIII.'' Besides expanding on the plot, characterizations, and backstories of both games, which were made at a time when technological limitations simply did not allow for much by the way of storytelling, they also fill in the plot hole of who imprisoned Valenice in the first place and why, explain how Graham knew about lifting the curse on the winged horse, and provide a way for Alexander to learn about what happens to Manhannan's slaves, among others. Most ambitiously, in both games they gave the foundations for a MythArc spanning the entire ''VideoGame/KingsQuest'' series and explaining why Daventry's royal family had such a knack for getting on the bad side of evil magic-users, in the form of a character called "the Father", who, upon his defeat in the second game, places a set of three curses upon Graham and his family which result in the events of the rest of the series.
* Thanks to the feelings of many gamers towards the ending, ''VideoGame/MassEffect3'' is starting to have many fics that are trying to fix this problem. They tend to either throw out the controversial last decision, keep it but [[spoiler: allow EDI and the geth to survive the Destroy Ending]], or rework much of the story.
** One well-known example is the [[WebcomicOfTheGame webcomic]] hosted on Platform/DeviantArt by user [[http://koobismo.deviantart.com/gallery/ koobismo]] starring and centered on the eponymous "Webcomic/MarauderShields" a [[MemeticMutation Memetic]] and [[{{Fanon}} Fanonical]] EnsembleDarkhorse, that is the [[FinalBoss final enemy combatant faced in the game, and by extent, the trilogy]]. Each 'episode' comes with recommended background music to be played while reading, and the creators are in the process of making an [[AudioAdaptation Audiobook]] for each strip with sound effects, licensed music, and voice overs by auditioned fan volunteers.
** The fanfic [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7952484/1/Razor-s-Edge-Requiem Razor's Edge Requiem]] does this unlike the previous parts [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6049842/1/Razor-s-Edge Razor's Edge]] and [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6814325/1/Razor-s-Edge-Dark-Witness Razor's Edge Dark Witness]] that followed ''VideoGame/MassEffect2'' and [=LotSB=] rather well with a few changes in order to fit the novel structure. These changes include giving the Rachni a larger focus, putting Miranda and Kasumi back on the ship and Shepard fight against indoctrination.
** The fic [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8361923/1/Certus Certus]] follows most of the game's major story beats, but throws in a couple entirely new arcs and significantly reworks the ending. The author's other fics already take some liberties with the plot of the first two games, so it doesn't stand out much next to them.
** It's a relatively minor note in a MassiveMultiplayerCrossover, but ''Fanfic/HalloweenUnspectacular X'' sees [[AuthorAvatar E350]] and a number of crossover characters literally crash the party during the game's ending (they need the Crucible to foil a villain, long story) and change the outcome so that Shepard can destroy the Reapers without destroying all synthetic life.
* ''VideoGame/PaperMarioColorSplash'' has been receiving several alternate fan tellings, in order to have the game better align with the first three in the series and suggest fixes to the gameplay. One such example is [[http://fantendo.wikia.com/wiki/Paper_Mario:_Color_Splash:_Director%27s_Cutout Director's Cutout]], featuring more unique designs among [[YouAllLookFamiliar the Toads]] and some [[VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor Goombella]] cameos.
* There's one fic out there for ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'' that does this - but from a gameplay standpoint, it ''actually makes sense.'' After finishing the game, a NewGamePlus option appears, allowing you to keep your level, Persona Compendium, all items and social stats - but forcing the player to stay on the rails when all they really want to do is change what they know is going to happen. Of course, opinions vary, but all in all the "Fixed" elements were handled quite well. [[spoiler: Shinji is saved, though it is explicitly mentioned that the side effects of his medication mean he will die within a year. Minato lives by holding back Erebus with the combined power of his social links, though he mentions he doesn't know if that will hold back The Fall forever.]]
* There are already several fics out there that "fix" the ending of ''VideoGame/Portal2'', in which [[spoiler:Wheatley is either not sent out into space or brought back to Earth some time after the game's end]], such as ''Fanfic/BlueSkyWaffles''.
* A common sore spot for many players of ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' is that one character is DoomedByCanon, turning the GoldenEnding somewhat [[BittersweetEnding bittersweet.]] [[spoiler:The fact that Asriel will turn back into Flowey and lose all memories and emotions of the people who love him at the end of the Pacifist Run has left more than a few people upset.]] Thus, there are multiple Fix Fics, including ''WebComic/ADreamerReborn'', where the player character goes back to save them. Some fan writers also save the first Fallen Child bringing them back to life with their own body and soul and able to interact with the rest of the cast. This is usually done either for shipping purposes, or to [[TakeThat call out]] people who bash the character. (The reasons for which are too complicated to go over in detail here.) Often the fics [[AssPull won’t even explain how Asriel and Chara were restored to life at all]], but it just happened before the first chapter.
** Though most fanfic writers who want a happy ending will set their {{Continuation Fic}}s in the True Pacifist timeline, some have tried their best effort at salvaging the events after the Genocide Route, undoing [[spoiler:[[HappyEndingOverride the Soulless Pacifist Ending]]]] if at all possible. Of these, the longest and most thought-out is ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11860936/1/Betrayed Betrayed]]'',[[note]]which also is an example of the “save Asriel and Chara” fics mentioned above[[/note]] which was ironically enough labeled a CrackFic by its own author in the first chapter’s notes. But don’t be fooled, it takes the subject matter with all the gravity it deserves, and not only does the story avoid DeusExMachina all the way through, but the heroes aren’t even able to begin to fix things until they go through [[TraumaCongaLine a whole train]] of soul-searching and acknowledgment of the fatal flaws that got them into this mess in the first place. It also allows for the possibility that [[spoiler:some things really are unfixable]] in an alternate ending.
* ''FanFic/DanganronpaYakuzaArc'' has Hajime saving Natsumi Kuzuryu from being killed by Sato and in turn Sato survives. This snowballs into a lot of the Danganronpa canon not occurring.
* Several ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaV3KillingHarmony'' fanfics, such as ''Fanfic/IdTradeMyLifeForYours'' and ''Fanfic/ThreePointShot'' often have [[spoiler:Kaede Akamatsu]] survive the first chapter; the former does this by [[spoiler:having Shuichi be convicted of the murder in her stead]] and the latter does this by [[spoiler:having Shuichi discover that the shot put couldn't have hit Rantaro, enabling him to expose the true murderer]].
* [[http://felix-the-judge.tumblr.com/ felix-the-judge's]] fangame [[Videogame/HOME2013 Home]] is this for {{Videogame/Off}}. It basically retells the game from the point of view of the Judge, who makes sure that the events of the original game turn out better by [[spoiler: preventing the Batter from killing the Guardians. Instead, the Judge "cures" the Guardians (driving a spectre out of Dedan to make him friendly and reasonable, splitting Valerie and Japhet without killing either of them, etc) and frustrates the Batter at every turn.]] It's best symbolized by the title screen: where Off has a big red X, Home has a big green plus sign.
** In the newer versions, the entire plot was rewritten to be more close to the original. The guardians die and the world gets purified, but the Judge saves Hugo from the Batter, so he revives everybody.
* ''Gaige's ECHO Logs'', a ''VideoGame/{{Borderlands 2}}'' ScriptFic, is a downplayed example. It hews extremely closely to canon, but still makes an effort to smooth out a few of the plotholes in the original. The most obvious would be the question of why, if the Vault Hunters all had their action skills in the opening cinematic, [[BagOfSpilling they had to level up and learn them again]] (their ECHO devices were destroyed, and they had to get new ones). The author later did a companion story which explains why Krieg wasn't present in the story until the events of the Tiny Tina DLC (which confirms that all six Vault Hunters are together in a group).
* The ''VideoGame/CommandAndConquer'' fanfic ''FanFic/TiberiumWars'' was written more or less as a Fix Fic aimed not at the game itself, but at the official {{Novelization}}. Even though it's not even past the first act of the game thus far, the general consensus among the readers is that it has well surpassed the actual novel.
** Surpassing the novel itself isn't really that much of an achievement, considering how stupid and awful it was. Some people are speculating, though, that this fic could surpass the ''game''.
* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'' fanfic ''FanFic/TheFifthAct'' is a Fix Fic with Cloud accidentally time-traveling to fix the events of ''VideoGame/CrisisCore''. While Cloud is a borderline VillainProtagonist in his quest to kill the currently innocent Sephiroth for his future crimes he accidentally saves Genesis, Angeal and Zack on the way, becomes a Soldier First Class and give his past self some needed advice and confidence boost.
* ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'' fanfic ''FanFic/{{Pretender}}'' addresses things that the video game {{Hand Wave}}s for things never explained in story, such as Chrom never noticing that Robin [[spoiler: had Plegian-style robes and had the mark of Grima on their hand.]] In fic, Chrom takes the time to study the marks on Robin's hand and clothes and finds out Robin's origins long before TheReveal.
* The ''VideoGame/KanColle'' fan work ''FanFic/PacificWorldWarIIUsNavyShipgirls'' averts a lot of things the source material is plagued with, in particular [[FlatCharacter flat characters]] and ExcusePlot. It even explores elements that were OutOfFocus in the original game such as giving the fairies in-depth personalities and traits.
* In the ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' fandom, ''FanFic/TheReluctantFatherUniverse'' has Xion (the author's favorite character) get a promotion to a full member of Organization XIII. Even the author admits that this derails the plot, but he felt like [[DownerEnding she needed]] a break.
* ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'':
** Originally, in ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'', [[spoiler:Shadow the Hedgehog fell into the Earth's atmosphere and "died" after fighting the Biolizard with Sonic's help. Since then, Eggman resurrected Shadow, who'd develop amnesia, and even went far as to develop Shadow androids to confuse Shadow, and in turn, the player]]. So, one fanfic author developed two fanfics explaining the alternate ending where [[spoiler:Sonic actually ''saves'' Shadow from falling into the Earth. That way, Shadow won't be able to whine, complain, and mope about his past, instead vowing to protect Sonic and friends as his ''new friends'', while Eggman doesn't build the Shadow androids at all to confuse Shadow and the player]]. The first fanfic takes place through [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5943218/1/bSonic_b_bAdventure_b_b2_b_The_bAlternate_b_bEnding_b Shadow's perspective]], while the second takes place through [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6095293/1/bSonic_b_bAdventure_b_b2_b_Cream_the_Rabbits_Story Cream's perspective]], to explain Cream the Rabbit's addition to the story.
** The same author wrote [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6162718/1/The_bChaos_b_bSaga_b_bSCR_b an alternate version of the same story]] in ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' to correct the problems with not only Sonic's character-development, but also every other Sonic character, including Big the Cat as well as two new additions, Cream and Rouge. The fic is told through Sonic, Cream, and Rouge's perspectives, similar to ''Sonic Adventure'''s multiple-perspective storyline. In the alternate version, each character goes through a moment of development; Sonic struggles to learn what it means to rely on friends just as much as to protect them, while Cream learns the value of growing-up and protecting the people she cares for, and Rouge becomes more of an honorable thief with compassion for all life.
** ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFo4_KcFuLI Making Sonic Forces Again]]'' is a rewrite video of ''VideoGame/SonicForces'' where the plot is rewritten in an attempt at improving it.
* [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8993987/1/Penelope-s-Log This]] short ''VideoGame/SlyCooperThievesInTime'' fan fiction attempts to explain [[spoiler: Penelope's utterly nonsensical SuddenSequelHeelSyndrome by having her complete change in personality caused by brainwashing from contact with [[BigBad Clockwerk's]] eye.]]
* The ''VideoGame/StarTrekOnline'' Foundry mission [[Recap/StarTrekOnlineFoundryDivideUtRegnes "Divide ut Regnes"]], for the infamous official storyline mission "Divide et Impera". It uses a StableTimeLoop to explain why Admiral Zelle is still standing motionless in Admiral T'nae's office after [[spoiler:the Undine impersonating her uses you to get her into a Romulan medical facility to KillAndReplace its commander]], and MindControl to explain the more-blatant-than-usual {{Railroading}}. It also does some ArcWelding, incorporating little details from other missions' briefings to make the rather disjointed storyline hang together better.[[labelnote:e.g.]]Why is the Romulan fleet out of position? They're responding to your {{Time Travel}}ing starship hitting one of their facilities.[[/labelnote]]
* The ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' comic ''Webcomic/{{Guardian}}'' centers around Lulu's backstory and takes the opportunity to either explain or alter things that didn't make much sense in the game. Lulu's unusual fashion sense is explained by being born on a snowy island before moving to Besaid, Chappu's "likeness" to Tidus is shown when he gets an ImportantHaircut to join the Crusaders, and Lulu staring as a level one mage despite twice being a guardian is due to her HeroicBSOD after Ginnem's death. Additionally, Yuna never loses her "goodbye" sphere, as the author dislikes the scene where Tidus hurls it from the airship.
* ''FanFic/TectonicDivergence'' is this to ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft''. This series takes in an AlternateUniverse where Deathwing not only survives but [[HeelFaceTurn gets reformed into turning back to Neltharion]]. The author is kinder to other dragons, too.
* The ''FanFic/HoursVerse'' is a series of ''Franchise/{{Persona}}'' fics, changing the ending of ''VideoGame/Persona3'' so that [[spoiler:the protagonist and Ryoji survive]] and covering the events of ''VideoGame/Persona4'' and ''VideoGame/Persona5''.
* ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'': ''Fanfic/OnlyFlowersFall'' is a one-shot that fixes a part of the end of ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon'' that many disliked: Lillie [[spoiler:forgiving Lusamine]] and [[spoiler:traveling to Kanto with her]]. In the fic, Lillie has PTSD and [[spoiler:ThickerThanWater]] does not apply to her here. She ends up [[spoiler:cutting ties with her abusive mother]].
* An interesting example: There’s a [[https://youtu.be/G4nVyoPuCzk three]] [[https://youtu.be/CnzN18e979w part]] [[https://youtu.be/VMy_hv14R0k series]] of fan level packs in ''VideoGame/HotlineMiami2WrongNumber'' that change the ending of the story- [[spoiler: the Fans are not killed by the Son and end up freeing Jacket and taking down both the Russian Mafia and 50 Blessings.]]
* [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13492643/1/Kyrat-Zindabad ''Kyrat Zindabad'']] serves as an alternative ending for ''VideoGame/FarCry4'' for all those fans who were unhappy with the sheer level of TooBleakStoppedCaring caused by the MultipleEndings. [[TheHero Ajay]] kills [[TheCaligula Pagan Min]], instead of letting him escape and be a KarmaHoudini, kills [[spoiler:[[DirtyCommies Amita]] ]] to prevent [[spoiler:her]] from [[FullCircleRevolution becoming just another Pagan]], and reveals that he [[spoiler:did not kill [[TheFundamentalist Sabal]] on her orders]]. Later on, he finds out from [[TookALevelInKindness a reformed Sabal]] that [[RightfulKingReturns he is in fact a legitimate descendant of Kyrat's last king]], and promptly uses that authority to [[spoiler:get Bhadra released from Durgesh Prison]]. Ajay finally is crowned TheGoodKing of Kyrat, and promises to undo the atrocities that Pagan Min carried out upon its people.
* ''Fanfic/TowerOfBabel'' fixes the post-apocalyptic (and just plain [[EndOfTheWorld apocalyptic]]) world of ''VideoGame/NieR'' by making the main characters stop and think for a moment and then actually talk to each other.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Webcomics]]
* ''Webcomic/ArchieSonicOnline'' is a fan continuation of the original continuity of ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics, before the [[ExecutiveMeddling unfortunate]] [[ScrewedByTheLawyers circumstances]] that led to the series being [[ContinuityReboot rebooted]].
** ''Knuckles: Endangered Species'' is a three-part miniseries, reimagining the events of issues 244-246, the last three parts of the actual Endangered Species. In the original, the last three parts were heavily rewritten to have a majority of characters created by Creator/KenPenders to just disappear from the storyline and never seen again. So in essence, this is a {{Rewrite}} of a {{Rewrite}}.
** ''Sonic Universe #50'' is this for ''WesternAnimation/SonicUnderground'', giving the story a proper ending where Sonic and his siblings properly reunite with Queen Aleena and end Dr. Robotnik's reign while restoring her rule. Dingo reforms after throwing Robotnik in the Robotizer, while Sleet is trapped inside of Sonia's amulet.
* ''FanFic/RedDeadVirgo'' wasn't this originally, but for a time became this after [[WhamEpisode certain events]] in the [[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} canon]]. To quote the author: "Stay tuned for updates to the RDV-verse, where everything is actually pretty fucking happy and functional [[spoiler: and sane]]. Who woulda thunk!"
* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'' fanfic [[http://archiveofourown.org/works/955354/chapters/1869456 Well Met at Mechanicsburg]] revolves around Barry joining forces with Klaus more than a decade prior to the canon storyline and in doing so manages to fix pretty much everything while addressing major plot points and relationships from the canon story.
* ''Summerteen Romance'' is this InUniverse in the ''Webcomic/ParadoxSpace'' story of the same name, also for Homestuck. Unusually, this is lampshaded in ways that are both funny [[MoodWhiplash and... not funny]].
* ''Webcomic/FiveYearsLater'' is this primarily for two series the creator finds to have been mistreated by their networks and creators: ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'' and ''Franchise/Ben10''. Both series are given a chance to continue and expand themselves in ways they were not allowed. A third series, ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'' is also intended for a similar purpose, but its role was reduced after ''Enter the Florpus'' was announced as the series was considered less needing of fixing.
* ''WebComic/LessBittersweet'' explicitly aims to make the ending of ''VisualNovel/DokiDokiLiteratureClub'' more happy by continuing the story. However, if you go by WordOfGod, then he thinks the original DownerEnding was perfect, and "fixing" it is actually a ''bad'' idea, so it's InvertedTrope. (But he thinks it can otherwise be a good story, so that's why it's worth writing.)
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Original]]
* Belated Media has the three-part series ''WebVideo/WhatIfTheStarWarsPrequelsWereGood'', an in-depth reimagining of the ''Franchise/StarWars'' prequels designed to fix some of their most criticized elements (complete with drawings to show what it might have looked like). In particular, Michael criticizes the Prequel Trilogy's excessive {{Call Forward}}s and [[AlreadyMetEveryone over-reliance on Original Trilogy characters]], and argues that the movies suffered from a general lack of tension because they revolved around a ForegoneConclusion. To remedy that, R2-D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca are nowhere to be seen, Anakin doesn't don the classic black armor, Palpatine doesn't proclaim himself Emperor, and Padmé actually lives until the end. To elaborate:
** ''Film/ThePhantomMenace'': Obi-Wan takes a much more active role in the plot as the protagonist, he and Padmé have a WillTheyOrWontThey dynamic reminiscent of Han and Leia, and he's something of a hothead who gets tired of peacetime and wants to prove himself as a warrior. Anakin is aged up to a young adult, he's a first-time podracer who gets pushed into a race by Qui-Gon as a ploy to test his latent Force powers, and he doesn't take part in the final battle. Jar-Jar isn't in the movie, Yoda [[TheGhost is only mentioned]], and Darth Maul survives to the end.
** ''Film/AttackOfTheClones'': Owen Lars is a major supporting character (portrayed as a BadassNormal space pilot in Padmé's employ), Padmé is the Queen of Alderaan instead of the Queen of Naboo, Bail Organa is Padmé's brother, Palpatine is a high-level Senate bureaucrat who heads the Jedi Council, Count Dooku is a sympathetic WellIntentionedExtremist who rebels against the Republic and the Jedi because he knows that they're controlled by the Sith, Anakin is portrayed as Obi-Wan's more charismatic {{foil}}, the plot hints at a romantic rivalry between the two over Padmé's affections, the Clone Wars start with the Sith assassinating leaders on both sides to provoke a conflict, there's no side-plot about Obi-Wan hunting down the secret Clone Army, Obi-Wan gets to have a [[ItsPersonal personal]] rematch with Darth Maul in an attempt to avenge Qui-Gon (though Maul escapes), and the movie ends with Dooku choosing to die as a martyr as the Clone Army bombs his stronghold.
** ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'': Anakin and Padmé's secret marriage happens offscreen (making it a surprise when they're revealed to be a couple), we actually ''see'' Grievous' kidnapping of Palpatine, Grievous is a truly dangerous warrior (á la ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsCloneWars''), and Darth Maul dies on Grievous' flagship in place of Dooku. At the climax, Obi-Wan's friendship with Anakin collapses when Anakin discovers that Obi-Wan only trained him to fulfill a promise to Qui-Gon, and Anakin gets booted from the Jedi Order for killing Darth Maul, only for Palpatine to appoint him the new leader of the Jedi Council. In the end, there's a full-on ''battle'' on Mustafar preceding the climactic duel, where a power-mad Anakin purposely sends most of the Jedi to their deaths by making them serve as cannon fodder. Afterwards, Obi-Wan lies to Padmé and tells her that Anakin died in battle, and Owen personally offers to raise Padmé's child away from the chaos of war. Yoda also never battles Palpatine; he and Obi-Wan simply go into hiding to wait for the right moment to strike back at the Sith-controlled Republic.
* ''WebAnimation/RedVsBlue'' had a [[SeasonalRot badly received season 18]], which inspired two fans to [[https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wV8ZDt9LtU-V94ruGNzwUq1phAVcZoM8/view rewrite the whole thing more in line with the rest of the show]].
* ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'': The show has a ''very'' divided [[invoked]]BrokenBase, with one of the most widespread criticisms from the negative side being that the franchise's world is brimming with potential that was wasted, untapped or misused throughout the canon storyline -- as a result, ''RWBY'' fix fics of considerable length abound.
** Youtuber adel aka has a [[https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9a3SC1ZRO5-1gevZXSrNyXEwGVrLRcvb series of videos]] where he completely rewrites characters arcs in order to fix them of any issues he sees with them. There's also [[NoHuggingNoKissing no romance]] because it's felt that the romantic plots drag down the series. However, with the exposure of his mysogynisy and transphobia, as well as the general progress of ''RWBY'' rewrites, adel's version has become discredited nowadays.
** ''Fanfic/BreakingTheChains'' fixes the Blake vs Adam scene in Volume 6 so that it involves Weiss instead of Yang. This is a "fix" because the writer felt that it fit Blake, Weiss, and Adam's arcs better that way and that it was a missed opportunity that [[spoiler:Weiss never met Adam considering his SDC brand]].
** ''WebVideo/FixingRWBY'' is a web series where one man describes how he'd rewrite the show from Volume 1 up in order to improve upon it.
** The video series ''WebVideo/RWBYAlternate'' is an attempt at revamping the series from the ground up.
** Unicorn of War-Thomas Vaccaro made a two-part Youtube video series called ''WebVideo/IRewroteRWBYVolume8'', which made changes that fixed the issues many fans had with Volume 8.
%%** ''Webcomic/{{REMNANTS}}'' is a rewrite project that retools and reworks the series.
%%** ''Fanfic/RWBYScars'' is a DarkerAndEdgier complete rewrite of the series.
* ''[[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO5fPAje69CLuB48htgKkpg/videos SMG4 Accommodations]]'' is a project aiming to recreate various ''[[WebAnimation/Supermarioglitchy4sSuperMario64Bloopers SMG4]]'' bloopers from 2018 onwards to better fit with the humor of the classic era. Various changes include redesigns and recharacterizations for the [=OCs=], rewriting arcs (Waluigi, Anime, Youtube) while also [[AdaptedOut adapting out]] others (Rapper Bob, Genesis, Revelations), and even some original bloopers as well. While the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VXrhei6XO4 pilot]] released on August 2022, The first rewritten episode, being [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipCLLz5hwFw Doki Doki Mario Club]], premiered on June 2023. Future plans for the series can be seen [[https://www.reddit.com/r/ClassicSMG4/comments/kl83iv/the_rewritten_seasons_of_smg4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb here]].
* While mostly still a parody, ''WebVideo/SwordArtOnlineAbridged'' is noted for not hesitating to play some of the original show's dramatic and emotional scenes completely straight, and even trying to ADD weight to them in some cases as well as rewriting some plot points purely to remove perceived {{plot hole}}s and characterization inconsistencies.
* ''Literature/{{Worm}}'': Several stories often feature Taylor's bullies getting their just desserts.
* The You Tube Channel Angelo di Carpio https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCec52znsl8Wvk4czfKG9DaQ has several "Hyperreal Evolution" videos that show what famous musicians and entertainers who died - often those who died young and are part of The 27 Club - would look like if they were to live longer. These videos show morphing photographs which after a certain point in history - often the death of the subject - will be speculative age-enhanced photos. Some of the videos, such as the ones for Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Jim Morrison, will show the subject's photo waver or blink, or even have a shadow over the face, to signify a diverging timeline. The ending can be a TearJerker when the person dies and the words "Sorry. I was just imagining" appear.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* There are a few fanfics of the ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' episode, "Arthur's Big Hit", where both Arthur and D.W. get punished for their actions, as opposed to just Arthur. [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10551586/1/How-it-Should-Have-Been-Written-Arthur-s-Big-Hit One in particular]] removes the massive BrokenAesop, has Binky tell Arthur why hitting him would be wrong instead of actually hitting him, and has D.W actually learn her lesson and make a sincere apology to Arthur.
* Some ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'' fan fics portray the Splinter Cell being an actual villain organization bent on ridding the world of all adults instead of being cover-up for the GKND, either with the GKND still coincidentally in existence, or removing the GKND entirely. The KND Splinter Cell's nature and motives vary depending on the author writing the fanfic. One example is titled ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5675339/1/Operation_SPLINTER_CELL Operation SPLINTER CELL]]''. Funnily enough, when the show's creator [[WhatCouldHaveBeen tried to pitch a sequel series]] years later, the proposed plot was that [[IKnewIt the GKND turned out to be a villain organization that wishes to rid the universe of adults]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'': ''Fanfic/LincolnGetsLimber'' has a downplayed example. While the fanfic is about [[GenderNormativeParentPlot Lincoln joining a gymnastics class because he discovers he likes the sport but hides it from most of his family and friends out of fear of mockery]], Chapter 59 reveals that the extremely controversial parts of "No Such Luck" (the family locking Lincoln out of the house, not believing him when he told the truth that he wasn't bad luck, and forcing him to wear the squirrel suit when they thought it canceled out his "bad luck") was nothing more than a really bad and traumatizing nightmare Lincoln had. After he woke up from the nightmare and confessed about lying that he was bad luck, his parents and sisters reveal that they knew the whole time (they were just excluding him from a few family activities to pressure him into confessing), and they reassure him they would have never done what their dream counterparts did to him.
* ''FanFic/FlubsBestFriend'' is a fix fic of ''WesternAnimation/FamilyDog'' crossing over with other hated cartoons the creator prefers over that show. Primarily ''WesternAnimation/TheBrothersFlub'' having Fraz, one of the titular characters adopt the dog.
* ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'':
** The ''Fanfic/LadyBugOut'' AlternateUniverse and most of the other works of its creator, Miraculous Content. The author claims that the show keeps blaming the main character Marinette for things she has no control over, going so far as to have other characters behave like terrible people with no repercussions so she can get blamed for the fallout. So, most of their works follow the formula of having a character behave in a terrible way exactly like they do in canon, but then being called out or suffering the consequences. Meanwhile Marinette doesn't get unfairly blamed, instead usually ending up in a romantic moment with Luka as that is the author's favourite ship. In ''Fanfic/LadyBugOut'' itself this comes after the episode "Oblivio", when Alya posts a photograph of Ladybug and Chat kissing while they are under the effects of the titular villain's amnesia ability to her Ladyblog. While canon treats this as just another ShipTease moment between the heroes, in LBO this leads to a major fallout between Marinette and Alya, as well as between Ladybug and Chat. Alya, Adrien, and Chloé, all characters the author views as mistreating Marinette without comeuppance in canon, permanently lose their status as heroes, with their powers going to characters the author is sympathetic towards (Juleka, Luka and Kagami respectively).
** ''Fanfic/TellingLiesNoMama'': Besides being a deconstruction of the usual Salt Fics, it also fixes many grievances most fans had with canon.
*** Alya, Nino and Adrien don't hesitate to jump in Marinette's defense when Lila makes it appear that she's being a bully, and they're her staunchest allies through the whole story.
*** Ms. Bustier isn't some gullible idiot: she believes Lila's claims of disabilities because Lila gave her forged medical notes, complete with her mother's signature.
*** Chloé is given CharacterDevelopment and [[spoiler:a proper redemption arc that actually sticks instead of being a victim of AesopAmnesia]]. She also tries to build a proper friendship with Sabrina, instead of treating her like a disposable stooge.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** The ''FanFic/PonyPOVSeries'' isn't ''solely'' a Fix Fic, but the author typically does major edits with every new episode to integrate the canon into the story, in the process providing explanations that, in the universe of the fic, make perfect sense and actually explain a PlotHole or two. For example, Rainbow Dash's behavior in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E8TheMysteriousMareDoWell "Mysterious Mare-Do-Well"]] was the result of her [[spoiler:trying to cover up/compensate for her HeroicBSOD resulting from how she handled Discord's SadisticChoice.]]
** A sort-of in-universe example occurs when [[spoiler:Twilight ascends into Princess Amicitia, becoming the Alicorn of Friendship, Magic, and Happy Endings. As the personification of Happy Endings, her duty is to travel to various CrapsackWorld[=s=] throughout the multiverse and give mortal ponies the encouragement or inspiration they need to achieve their own happy endings, or to discreetly prevent terrible things from happening or DisasterDominoes from being set in motion. Many of the "bad worlds" she repairs are from existing grimdark fanfictions written by other authors.]]
*** [[spoiler:''Fanfic/CupcakesSergeantSprinkles'': Pinkie Pie's murderous insanity is explained as the result of her brain becoming infected by a parasprite larva hiding in a cupcake she ate after the events of "Swarm of the Century". Amicitia tells Gummy to knock the tray of cupcakes off the table, preventing Pinkie from eating any of them.]]
*** [[spoiler:''Sweet Apple Massacre:'' Right before Big Mac is about to torture and murder the Cutie Mark Crusaders, Amicitia reminds him how much he loves his little sister Apple Bloom, how he's always loved and protected his family, and that he would never do this if he was in his right mind. Horrified at what he's done, he frees them, leaving them terrified but unhurt and alive. Big Mac laments that his family will never forgive him, but Amicitia sets him down the path to redemption.]]
*** [[spoiler:''Lil Miss Rarity:'' Rarity briefly thinks of killing her cat Opal when it claws her face open, but Amicitia counters the thought and reminds her that even the best child can hurt their mother without meaning to, and calls Sweetie Belle to get out the first aid kit.]]
*** [[spoiler:''Fanfic/PagesOfHarmony:'' Amicitia convinces Twilight not to experiment on her friends because the knowledge she will gain isn't worth the price she and everyone else will pay for it. Twilight ends up getting therapy and moving back in with her parents, with support from her friends.]]
*** [[spoiler:''Fanfic/RainbowFactory:'' In her fillyhood, Rainbow Dash discovers the horrors of the Rainbow Factory. With Amicitia's encouragement, she goes straight to Princess Celestia and tells her all about it, who dismantles the Factory and removes the majority of Cloudsdale's officials from power.]]
*** It should be noted, though, that [[spoiler:Amicitia has limits. She was unable to stop ''Fanfic/TheImmortalGame'' from going south because of how ingrained in the setting the conflict is, but was able to lessen the damage.]]
** The ''Friendship is Magic'' fanfic ''Whisper'' explains the parasprite infestation in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E10SwarmOfTheCentury "Swarm of the Century"]], and Twilight's attempt to fix it going horribly awry, as the work of sabotage by [[spoiler: the Great and Powerful Trixie, who wrongly blamed Twilight for an apparent curse (actually a case of poison joke) that spoiled Trixie's stage presence.]]
** Do you hate [[RoyalBrat Prince Blueblood]]? Then read ''Fanfic/TheBestNightEver'', where he gets trapped in a GroundhogDayLoop and ends up getting immense amounts of CharacterDevelopment before managing to break the loop. Self-entitled jerk goes in; decent, friendly, and likable prince goes out.
** There is a genre of fics that try to address the minimal apology Twilight received at the end of [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E26ACanterlotWeddingPart2 "A Canterlot Wedding"]], which range from sweet (''[[Fanfic/TheNuptialverse Post Nuptials]]'') to dark (''FanFic/FaithAndDoubt'').
** ''Fanfic/MyBravePonyStarfleetMagic'' is a fix fic [[MindScrew which also happens to be a]] HateFic, with the author trying to change the entire universe and its concepts to fit his ideas (for example, he absolutely ''hates'' the idea of friendship (the ''main concept'' of the [=FiM=] universe), and thinks that the power of belief is the strongest there is (whatever he means by that)). [[PoesLaw It's not a]] TrollFic. The largely negative reception to the fic resulted in [[RecursiveFanfiction several Fix Fics of it]] (including ''Fanfic/FallOfStarfleetRebirthOfFriendship'' and ''FanFic/MyBravePonyStarfleetNemesis''), which revolve around [[DeconstructionFic deconstructing]] and "un-fixing" the changes made by ''Starfleet Magic'' while also fleshing out the original characters it introduced (who, to be frank, have [[FlatCharacter very little in the way of actual character]]).
** Similar to the ''FanFic/PonyPOVSeries'' example listed above, the fix fic ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7598776/1/No_Hard_Feelings No Hard Feelings]]'' takes place right after the events of [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E8TheMysteriousMareDoWell "Mysterious Mare-Do-Well"]], where the rest of the Mane Cast have a JerkassRealization over how their plan to teach Rainbow Dash a lesson in humility ended up unintentionally hurting her feelings.
** ''Fanfic/CupcakesSergeantSprinkles'' has created many, many alternate endings by fans who hated the ending. [[CanonDefilement For good reason]]. It's popular to explain the entire events of the story as AllJustADream of Pinkie's or Dashie's, have them be shocked and horrified, then have them comfort each other. ''FanFic/TheLightInTheDarkness'' is perhaps the most beloved example.
** The ''[[Fanfic/TheConversionBureau Conversion Bureau]]'' story ''Ten Minutes: Aftermath'' was written by Chatoyance as a response to the pro-human sentiments of the original story ''Ten Minutes'', intentionally subverting the message of the original in order to fit the author's own work into her setting. It wasn't well received, however.
** The TCB universe in general has received several kinds of {{Deconstruction Fic}}s aimed at examining the FridgeHorror implications the original and its more "pro-conversion" spin-offs gloss over.
*** ''Fanfic/TheConversionBureauTheOtherSideOfTheSpectrum'', in addition to addressing the many FridgeHorror and FridgeLogic elements of the original, also gives a plausible reason for why the Equestrians would even launch an extermination campaign against the humans to begin with. Following some CreativeDifferences and [[TroubledProduction troubles behind the scenes]], it's receiving a [[ContinuityReboot reboot]] called ''FanFic/{{Spectrum}}'', which aims to fix some of the issues found in the original story.
*** ''Fanfic/TheConversionBureauNotAlone'' illustrates that a semi-medieval/barely industrialized society would be [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomped]] by 21st century tactics and weaponry, not every pony is on board with the conversion, and the other species inhabiting the ponies' world would not be happy to see the ponies try to convert an entire species against their will.
** ''Fanfic/TheConversionBureauNotJustPonies'' is a more conventional Fix Fic for the setting in the sense the idea is rewriting it into something without the FridgeHorror of the original, the RonTheDeathEater aspects many ''Conversion Bureau'' fics use, or the 'humans wipe out ponies.' The end result in the merger of the worlds is not an invasion, but a natural cataclysm neither side can stop, the ponies aren't forcing the transformation on anyone but humanity needs it to survive, technology is being preserved and modified so the humans can use it correctly in their new forms, and, as the title suggests, humans have far more options than just ponies and free choice of what they become. As a consequence of this, the PER and HLF are ''[[EvilVersusEvil both]]'' KnightTemplar groups who grossly misunderstand the true nature of situation.
** ''Fanfic/TodayTomorrowAndForever'' is about a loving mother, Derpy Hooves, having her daughter taken away by the Foal Protection Service for being unfit to care for a foal. This was too heartbreaking for many, so a different ending (''[[https://www.deviantart.com/nova225/art/MLP-FiM-and-Forever-Together-205121802?offset=150#comments And Forever Together]]'') was written when it turned out the whole case was handled incorrectly, several ponies vouch for Derpy's qualifications as a parent, and they are reunited happily.
** ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8758944/1/Consequences-A-Bad-Apple-Comedy-of-Justice Consequences – A Bad Apple Comedy of Justice]]'' is two Fix Fics in one: The author saw Babs Seed as a bit of a KarmaHoudini ([[ShoutOut right down to mentioning the trope name in his Author's Notes]]), so he wrote two short stories where Applejack intervenes shortly after Babs' FaceHeelTurn in the first, and a reformed Discord actually shows Babs [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E4OneBadApple the original episode]] in a dream for the second one.
** ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/314936/light-born-from-regret Light Born From Regret]]'' is a Fix Fic to ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDWIssue34To37 Siege of the Crystal Empire]]'', primarily dealing with the common view of Radiant Hope being UnintentionallyUnsympathetic and having a LackOfEmpathy for anyone except Sombra. As the writer detests Fix Fics that are actually {{Accusation Fic}}s in disguise, this is accomplished by having Hope, after all is said and done, simply having a DelayedReaction and [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone it hitting her exactly what she'd done]], to the point of having nightmares about what she could have caused, and ultimately accepting like Sombra [[TheAtoner she has a lot to make up for]], rather than being chewed out by other characters for it.
** Many fans were not happy that Starlight Glimmer was EasilyForgiven at the end of the Season 5 finale. Some have taken it upon themselves to write fanfics where she receives proper comeuppance for her actions.
*** In ''Fanfic/StepRightInAndStartAgain,'' because of Starlight's tampering with the time spell in the original episode, she has trapped herself in a permanent time loop where every day she reappears in Twilight's castle with no memory of the previous day, awaiting her punishment from Twilight and the Mane Six. It got a fix fic in the form of ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11662703/1/Starting-Over-Again Starting Over Again]]'', where Twilight creates a magic crown for Starlight to wear that stores and retains her memories as she goes through each time loop. When she realizes that she is now immortal and will outlive every living thing in existence, Starlight devises a potion of eternal youth and gives it to her friends and the rest of Equestria to use. Everypony becomes an immortal alicorn, the races of Equestria explore and colonize the galaxy, and Starlight lives to the end of the universe with her friends, where her time loop is finally broken and she transforms into an alicorn like everyone else. The story ends with a new universe forming, with every character we know and love being present to watch it.
** The somewhat divisive SeriesFinale has spurred a few. Such as ''Webcomic/{{Fix}}'', which attempts to fix one of the issues fans had about the series finale -- namely, the lack of redemption for [[BigBadEnsemble Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow.]] Other fanfics prefer to fix another issue fans had- namely, the fact that Grogar was fake. ''Fanfic/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicSeason10'', for example, has the ''real'' Grogar appear to threaten Equestria, and even adds his right-hand donkey Bray to boot.
** ''Fanfic/TheEndingOfTheEndLoveAndToleranceEdition'' addresses several issues the author had and others may have had with the finale. Such as:
*** The TerribleTrio of Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow are not only spared their controversial [[TakenForGranite canon fate]], but the shreds of a VillainousFriendship they had shown starting to form are expanded on and they're given a redemption arc… even if they [[ReformedButNotTamed refuse to admit it]].
*** [[BigBad Grogar]] is ''very real'' and not Discord in disguise, as part of an extremely questionable scheme to give Twilight some "self confidence" by playing around with three very dangerous villains.
*** [[PsychoRangers Mean Twilight]] is revived to join The LegionOfDoom, as the show seemingly hinted by having Queen Chrysalis hold onto her log, but didn't do anything with it. Instead of just being left dead after one episode and never even getting to meet the heroes properly. The rest of the Mean Six are revived and reunited with her in the epilogue.
*** Cozy Glow is not able to use the Bewitching Bell to become an alicorn and decides not to give herself any other kind of flashy power up that allows her to rely on brute force. Instead granting herself abilities that complement [[ManipulativeBitch her natural talents and role on the team]]. And continuing to set herself apart from her powerhouse cohorts.
*** King Sombra is revived once again and his comic book origin story that [[CanonDiscontinuity the show decided to ignore]] is acknowledged.
*** The Tree of Harmony/"Treelight" is given much more focus and [[WhatTheHellHero called out]] for it's more [[GoodIsNotSoft questionable moments.]]
*** Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash all become alicorns like Twilight after the final battle, allowing them to rule beside her indefinitely.
*** Princess Celestia and Luna decide to hold off on their retirement after the events of the finale, to help Twilight and Equestria's five new alicorn princesses settle in.
* ''WesternAnimation/NexoKnights'': ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/35109757?view_full_work=true Something Worse]]'' by LilyTheRose is a rewrite of the shows third and fourth seasons, the difference being that Clay, not Jestro, gets turned evil by Monstrox, both to flesh out the former's corruption which would happen later in canon and keep the latter's CharacterDevelopment from the first two seasons intact.
* Post-GrandFinale, many ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'' fanfics feature [[spoiler:some way of Ashi coming back after getting erased from existence so she and Jack can be together, often with alternate timelines or universes, or even her soul somehow being reincarnated.]] One particular example is [[https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1257570-samurai-jack these]] [[https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1258240-samurai-jack comics]] which does it via a crossover with ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty''. In short: [[spoiler:Rick brings an Ashi from another dimension to Jack (and apologizes for the infamous April Fool's joke in which the unexpected airing of the third season premiere pre-empted ''Samurai Jack'' that night), and in return, Jack gives Rick the recipe for the ''WesternAnimation/{{Mulan}}'' Szechuan Dipping Sauce mentioned in "[[Recap/RickAndMortyS3E1TheRickshankRedemption The Rickshank Redemption]]".]] [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12497574/1/ Joy]] has the Gods return Ashi back after fading out of existence due to the time paradox.
* Some ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' fics fix the notoriously bad endings some later season episodes have -- for example, [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9380443/1/A-Pal-For-Gary-Alternate-Ending "A Pal For Gary"]], [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11080437/1/A-Breath-Of-Fresh-Squidward-alternate-ending "A Breath Of Fresh Squidward"]], [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10486852/1/SpongeBob-You-re-Fired-Alternate-Ending "SpongeBob, You're Fired!"]],[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10002012/1/One-Coarse-Meal-Alternate-Ending "One Coarse Meal"]] and [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11416136/1/SpongeBob-SquarePants-Little-Yellow-Book-Alternate-Ending "Little Yellow Book"]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' fics that resurrect Terra after her HeroicSacrifice are almost as endemic are those that inflict DieForOurShip on her. After it's revealed that she actually ''was'' resurrected by unknown means, it changed into fixing what the author didn't like about that approach. One of them, part of the "FanFic/SanzaSalazarSaga", has Terra revived by the actions of a group of villains, mostly so the Titans can get to her before she decides IJustWantToBeNormal like she did in the show. Quite a few fix "Things Change" where Beast Boy is able to successfully convince her to come back to the team. Though, [[FanFic/TheEndOfEnds one in particular]] had Beast Boy taking more [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds drastic measures]] to convince her.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends'':
** There have been some alternate ending fanfics of the episode, "[[Recap/ThomasAndFriendsS18E8DuckAndTheSlipCoaches Duck and the Slip Coaches]]", where Emily gets a proper shed to sleep in when Duck is staying at Tidmouth Sheds for the night. [[http://lenny457.deviantart.com/art/Duck-and-the-Slip-Coaches-Alternate-Ending-483143710 One in particular]] has Emily sleep in James' spot at Tidmouth Sheds, giving the latter LaserGuidedKarma for [[StealingTheCredit stealing Duck's idea]] about using Slip Coaches and bumping the Slip Coaches.
** Fanfiction author Hufflepuff Batboy (formerly [=ThomasAngryBirds=] and Shimmering Sparkles) has a whole ''Thomas & Friends'' fanfiction series known as ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8139224/1/The-Railway-Series-Evolution-DISCONTINUED Railway Series Evolution]]''. Half of the stories are devoted to re-writing episodes from the later seasons. Examples of fixes include putting a different character in the main role (i.e. Henry instead of Edward in the infamous "[[Recap/ThomasAndFriendsS10E13EdwardStrikesOut Edward Strikes Out]]"), making accidents the faults of humans instead of engines (i.e. having a haughty driver cause Thomas to go off prematurely in "[[Recap/ThomasAndFriendsS15E17WonkyWhistle Wonky Whistle]]" instead of Thomas doing it on his own volition), and even re-writing ''WesternAnimation/ThomasAndTheMagicRailroad'' with a better origin for Lady, relegating Diesel 10 to a secondary antagonist role, introducing a new, nastier villain, replacing Splatter and Dodge with pre-existing characters 'Arry and Bert, and replacing Mr. Conductor with a human character named Mr. Brenner (a tribute to then-current series head writer, Andrew Brenner). He also gave pre-existing [=HiT=]-era characters fleshed-out origins, such as having Emily be #4 on the Sodor and Mainland Railway (one of the North Western Railway's constituents), making Paxton and Sidney replicas, making Dennis and Neville experimental Bulleid designs tested on Sodor, and having Belle be one of the eight engines who subbed for the original eight in "The Eight Railway Engines".
** ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11862294/1/Restoring-Lost-Honour Restoring Lost Honour]]'' serves as one for ''WesternAnimation/SodorsLegendOfTheLostTreasure'', particularly the Fat Controller's treatment of Thomas. After Thomas is unfairly punished for the dynamite incident, and Donald and Douglas start spreading the news of the Fat Controller's unfairness, Emily gives him one ''hell'' of a ReasonYouSuckSpeech (the author's M.O. is Thomas/Emily fics that [[Main/FridgeLogic somehow features them kissing and holding each other, which is physically impossible for them]]; it has been theorized that they either have the ability to hyper-extend their faces à la ''WebAnimation/Shed17'', have the unwritten ability to turn into humans, or use the exaggerated movements introduced in ''WesternAnimation/JourneyBeyondSodor''; the author has invoked the MST3KMantra on several occasions). Not only does Emily manage to change the Fat Controller's appraisal of the Thomas situation, she also leaves him ''a quivering wreck''. The cherry on top, though, is a scene made specifically for the fanfic, in which Thomas is about to leave Sodor, only for the Fat Controller to give a very heartfelt apology, and Gordon gets some LaserGuidedKarma for his teasing of Thomas that lead to the incident with the coaches in the form of [[CoolAndUnusualPunishment being made to watch scrap get melted down]]. After this, the fic follows the special closely, with the Fat Controller being more supportive of Thomas, though otherwise, the climatic chase with Sailor John is unchanged.
** In "[[Recap/ThomasAndFriendsS5E13StepneyGetsLost Stepney Gets Lost]]", Arry and Bert faced no consequences for attempting to scrap Stepney. [[https://www.deviantart.com/georgeuk90/art/How-Stepney-Gets-Lost-should-have-ended-840525402 This]] picture on Deviantart, however, depicts them being towed away to the mainland to be scrapped as punishment for their murder attempt.
* ''WesternAnimation/VoltronLegendaryDefender'': Season 7 was so hated by the fans, one of them even took the initiative to rewrite an entire ''[[https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B90ejzdo13NMSktXZkllM3dLMGxWNU5PbVZlY1ZES2dCdzRn/view screenplay]]'', aptly titled "Voltron Season 7 Fix It Script".
* With the series frustrating its fans since the earliest seasons, [[ShipSinking sinking ships]], creating new ones and not giving any resolution whatsoever at the end of the series and its [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTimeDistantLands sequel miniseries]], most ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' fans took on the job of giving closure to Finn's love life, a remaining plot thread that the writers refuse to give a satisfying resolution to this day:
** ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11615659/1/Her-Loyal-Friend Her Loyal Friend]]'', an AdaptationalAlternateEnding of the infamous "Red Throne" episode that [[CharacterRerailment rerails]] Finn from a love-maniac who would flirt with his ex at every opportunity to annoying levels into a hero who would do anything to help his girl, even if he must put aside his feelings for her. [[spoiler:They end up getting back together at the end.]]
** ''[[https://www.deviantart.com/historyisawesomeguy/art/Exceptional-Beasts-763999510 Exceptional Beasts]]'', a fic that not only fleshes out Finn and Huntress Wizard's relationship between and during the events of certain episodes ("Flute Spell", "The Wild Hunt" and "Seventeen") but also gives them both a romantic closure, something that the GrandFinale lacked and ended upsetting a lot of fans. Even the author admitted that it was their own way of giving them both closure after the finale. It even got [[https://www.deviantart.com/historyisawesomeguy/art/Finn-and-Huntress-Wizard-s-Song-779909137 a sequel]].
** Alternatively, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13055654/1/The-Humans-Return-to-Ooo The Humans Return to Ooo]]'' does the same thing, but with Flame Princess ''and'' Huntress Wizard in a OneTrueThreesome.
** ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13310518/1/In-Extremis In Extremis]]'' is one big fic that not only continues the story where the [[ComicBook/AdventureTimeSeason11 Season 11 comic]] left off, but it also adresses a lot of stuff from the finale: a closure to Finn and Huntress Wizard's relationship, [[spoiler:Betty coming back and staying with Simon and a final showdown between Finn and his friends against GOLB and the returning Lich.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'': ''FanFic/TheStalkingZukoSeries'', which is essentially a retelling of the series from just after Zuko joins until a little while after the end of the series that [[TheStationsOfTheCanon includes all canon scenes]] (albeit reinterpreting them at times), but ultimately pairs Zuko and Katara together, rather than with Mai and Aang, respectively. In [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7325839/23/Not-Stalking-Zuko Chapter 23 of Not Stalking Zuko]], the author [[WordOfGod admits this]].
-->"I think both [[OfficialCouple Katara and Aang]] deserve better than each other. So I am making my own fic to make the ending more palatable to myself and hopefully you guys too!"
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'' has ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7460934/1/It-smelled-like-an-Ed-at-least It smelled like an Ed, at least]]'', an AdaptationalAlternateEnding for the much-maligned episode "If It Smells Like an Ed".
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'':
** ''Fanfic/ALonelyGirl'' tries to fix the episode "Just the Two of Us" by changing Trixie's personality to be more in-line with her pre-{{flanderization}} one (with Trixie's persona being just an act and her having HiddenDepths behind her rich "popular girl" image). Instead of freaking out because Timmy's the only one around to adore her, she freaks out because she and Timmy are the only people left. Her asking Timmy to tell her she's pretty is a self-esteem boost.
** ''[[https://fairlyoddfanon.fandom.com/wiki/The_All_New_Fairly_OddParents! The All New Fairly OddParents!]]'' is one towards seasons 9 and 10 of the original show, due to the author's dissatisfaction of the direction that the original series took in those seasons, and goes back to the roots of the earlier seasons while also giving attention to plotlines that haven't been used by the show in years.
** A few episodes of the show have received alternate endings or rewrites, such as [[https://www.deviantart.com/1997deviantivan/art/Information-Stupor-Highway-Alternate-Ending-693072775 "Information Stupor Highway"]], [[https://www.deviantart.com/1997deviantivan/art/Movie-Magic-Alternate-Ending-801022325 "Movie Magic"]] and [[https://www.deviantart.com/1997deviantivan/art/Vicky-Gets-Fired-Re-Write-794754079 "Vicky Gets Fired"]].
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'': The ''Website/FamilyGuyFanon'' has an episode called "[[https://familyguyfanon.fandom.com/wiki/Between_Sanity_and_Madness Between Sanity and Madness]]" that tries to fix Peter's father [[{{Jerkass}} Francis]]. Not only does Francis get [[LaserGuidedKarma a harsh dose of karma]] when Peter kicks him and Thelma out of his house for all they do to them (the breaking point being them trying to drown him) and gets a decent amount CharacterDevelopment where he realizes how awful he's been and makes it up to Peter by apologizing to him and noticeably toning down his Jerkass traits ''and'' being more open to Peter's family compared to the original.
* ''Fanfic/FrankieRules'', a ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'' fic set after an 8-year TimeSkip, features fixes for some less-than-popular episodes of the series (for example, the events of "The Little Peas" are revealed to be a wild rumor started by Bloo, and in the final chapter Frankie gets even with Goofball John [=McGee=] from "Impostor's Home for Make-Em-Up Pals"). There's also [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4343990/1/ a prequel]] by the same author that makes amends for one of Madame Foster's most controversial actions.
* ''WesternAnimation/InfinityTrain''
** ''Fanfic/DownAndOut'': In response to the ending of [[Recap/InfinityTrainS3E10TheNewApex "The New Apex"]], wherein Simon dies from having his soul sucked out by a Ghom. Here, Grace is stated to have saved him at the last second, which allows him one final chance to work for redemption.
* ''Fanfic/JimmyTwoShoesTheMovieMiseryLovesCompany'': The author describes the story as being intended to give the show a more satisfying ending that expands upon the setting and repairs many of the mistakes of [[SeasonalRot Season 2]], such as undoing Beezy's sudden breakup with Saffi and {{retcon}}ning several controversial plot points used in Season 2 episodes, such as the existence of Heloise's family.
* ''FanFic/TheLittlePonyLegend'' is a {{Crossover}} that serves as Fix Fic for both ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' and ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''. While trying to adhere to canon as closely as possible, it does fixes for a lot of different canon elements with the crossover, the most significant of them being shipping elements for humans and ponies.
* ''FanFic/EmpathTheLuckiestSmurf'' is this to some degree for ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs'', primarily focusing on what happened to Papa Smurf's infatuation with Smurfette in "Romeo and Smurfette".
* ''Fanfic/PapaBear'': WordOfGod has stated that this one-shot is this trope both for the Chat Blanc episode of ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' and due to the fact that the show's blatant use of the AdultsAreUseless trope angers them.
* The ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo'' fanfic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/844132/1/Broken-Circle Broken Circle]]'' retcons the [[Film/ScoobyDoo 2002 film]]'s twist ending of making Scrappy Doo the villain by revealing that it was actually an imposter.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'': ''Fanfic/MonstersMewmansMagic'' is a fix fic (with the author speaking in the notes about dissatisfaction with the direction the series took in Seasons 3-4), {{Dark Fic}} (showing the ramifications of Toffee's plan and overall taking a darker tone than the series), and a {{What If}} since it starts from Toffee succeeding in his plan to destroy magic in Mewni.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'':
** ''Fanfic/CastSwap'': Due to the ''Pahkitew Island'' cast debuting in ''Revenge of the Island'' and vice versa, many plots go much better than in canon (especially during the ''All-Stars'' season). Dave and Sky's failed relationship ends more bittersweetly, Sugar and Scarlett's villain statuses are better executed, Sammy's CharacterDevelopment is stronger, Feral Ezekiel is restored to his human self, Gwen and Courtney make up for good, Gwen breaks up with Duncan on amicable terms, etc.
** ''Fanfic/CourtneysCrusadeForRedemption'': Courtney's actions are set to correct all the things that went wrong with her and other characters in the canon season.
** ''Fanfic/TotalDramaAllStarsRewrite'' is a fanfic that rewrites the events of ''All-Stars'', fixing many of the issues that people had with the season (such as the numerous continuity errors or the infamous [[spoiler:reset button]]) as well as including characters that fans felt the canon series missed out on an opportunity to have and giving the first two generations of contestants a proper farewell in the post-season special.
** The ''Fanfic/TotalDramaComebackSeries'', an alternate version of ''Total Drama'''s second season, wasn't ''intended'' as a fix fic at first, as it was written before ''Action'' started airing... but due to said season's SeasonalRot [[invoked]], many started to see it that way.
** The ''Comeback'' series author, Creator/TheKoboldNecromancer, later started a purposeful fix fic for Season Three called ''Fanfic/TDWTReducksRedux'', a season he despises primarily for [[SanitySlippage what it did]] to [[FromNobodyToNightmare Ezekiel]], his favourite character. Other than the main fix of having Ezekiel actually participate in the season instead of getting booted first again and then turning into a monster, Kobold also addresses other issues he had with the season, such as Team Victory's treatment (especially Harold and Bridgette, two other favorites of his) and the character of Alejandro (who is one of his most despised characters).
** ''Fanfic/CandyForYourThoughts'' is an alternate version of the second half of ''World Tour'', which mostly addresses the infamous Courtney/Duncan/Gwen love triangle, but also fixes other things the author had major problems with, such as Alejandro's InvincibleVillain qualities, Ezekiel's treatment, and the {{Gainax|Ending}} SuddenDownerEnding.
** While not a direct Fix Fic (more of an AlternateUniverseFic), ''Fanfic/ACodetteWorldTour'' "fixes" many of the controversial or unpopular elements of ''World Tour'' due to the author's hatred for the canon season. These fixes include the treatment of Team Victory and many of its members (especially Ezekiel, Bridgette, and DJ), the characters of Alejandro and Sierra (who are both disliked by the author), the Courtney/Duncan/Gwen LoveTriangle, and the finale itself.
** ''Fanfic/TotalDramaDoOver'' is mostly an AlternateUniverseFic, but as early as the first season, the author aimed to fix elements of the canon he disliked, such as making Zoey's "indie chick" persona more prominent rather than an InformedAttribute and reworking the Courtney/Duncan/Gwen LoveTriangle to make Courtney more unambiguously sympathetic (and pairing Gwen off with someone else). ''All Stars Do Over'' is the most explicit case; Mal is the antagonist in this series just like in canon, but due to how much the author hated the canon season and its take on Mal, he's given a more threatening role and a more fleshed-out motivation. There's several moments across all seasons that are direct potshots to disliked elements of canon, such as one scene in ''World Tour Do Over'' where Courtney drinks a glass of orange juice and makes a point that she has no complaints (one gag in the canon ''All Stars'' had Courtney complain about her orange juice).
** ''Fanfic/TwinningWithATwist'' The author has stated that they were unsatisfied with how Sammy's character development was portrayed in canon, and is writing the story to give her one that is more healthy and positive.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers'': There's Fix Fics like ''Fanfic/TheBigCaptureOf19992006'' which try to find a way that the Transformers that died (or appear to have died) in ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformersTheMovie'' actually survived (hint: shades of the WesternAnimation/TheTransformers episode ''A Prime Problem''), or ''[[http://shebakoby.deviantart.com/art/Prequel-Hunter-at-Night-1-33558022 Prequel to Hunter In the Night]]'' which tie into ''Big Capture'' and attempt an alternate origin for the Sweeps (as well as Galvatron and Cyclonus).
* ''FanFic/YoungJusticeDarknessFalls'' and ''FanFic/YoungJusticeTitans'' are fix fics for the ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'' universe in some ways. For example, with such an emphasis on hard timescales, the 5-year jump felt abrupt and problematic for some parties concerned, so in order to keep things more grounded, Angelus-v1 picks up ''Darkness Falls'' right from after the end of Season 2, so as not to disorient readers going in again. There's also the discussion of Vandal Savage's accusations about the League's "protecting" evolution, with the Big 3 discussing how what they're really in a fight for is against the malcontents of a society. And of course, as mentioned above, Wally [[spoiler:ceasing]] ties in nicely with what his plans are with [[spoiler:Darkseid]].
* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/21447313?view_full_work=true Final Stand of Death]]'', WesternAnimation/CelebrityDeathmatch fic, pretty has Marylin Manson finally facing the consequences of his actions from the incident at "Deathbowl '98". Knowing this was going to happen, Manson just accepts his fate, though allows for one more fight against one of his fallen victims.
* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/28834476 the midnight picnic once upon a time before the rain began]]'' can be seen as one for the series finale of ''WesternAnimation/CarmenSandiego''. One of the main issues fans had with it was that there was no indication that Carmen kept contact with her friends between V.I.L.E.'s defeat and the DistantFinale (especially Gray, who chose to cut himself out of her life); here, it's shown that she still hangs out with them on a regular basis, even mending her relationship with Gray in the process.

* ''FanFic/TheInfiniteLoops'' can sometimes contain examples of Loopers going through their original storyline, or that of popular fanfics, and doing things "right" this time around. Then again, the Loopers are equally likely to just screw everything over for the lulz, or to engage in oddball shenanigans also for the lulz. Notably, characters getting too obsessed with "fixing" things can sometimes cause problems and cause a Looper to break under the strain, especially if they come to believe that "fixing" the events of their baseline will get them out of the Loops.
* The author [[FanFic/WeissReacts ElfCollaborator]] wrote a series of fics, called the ''This Is The Part Where... Dies'' series, based on deconstructing and fixing canonical--or in the first case, fictional--deaths via InsaneTrollLogic, LampshadeHanging and BreakingTheFourthWall:
** [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10493672/1/This-Is-The-Part-Where-Ruby-Dies The first installment]] is about the tendency of {{Death Fic}}s to kill [[WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} Ruby]] off. [[spoiler:Ruby survives due to her protagonist-induced PlotArmor, which Blake lampshades.]]
** [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10567438/1/This-Is-The-Part-Where-Nia-Dies The second installment]] focuses on [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Nia]] and her [[spoiler:death at her and Simon's wedding. She survives by dint of Simon and the rest of team Dai-Gurren, with the inclusion of a resurrected Kamina and Kittan, beating up the Anti-Spiral King [[TakeThat who wrote the ending]].]]
** [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11009756/1/This-Is-The-Part-Where-Isara-Dies The third installment]] focuses on [[VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles Isara]]. [[spoiler:Isara survives by Cezary lampshading that she in fact, by the [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration game's logic]], had three turns to die and reminding everyone that they had TheMedic nearby with [[AppliedPhlebotinum ragnaid]].]]
** [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11789975/1/This-Is-The-Part-Where-Pyrrha-Dies The fourth]] focuses on [[spoiler:deconstructing Pyrrha's canonical death in ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'']]. [[spoiler:Pyrrha survives her death in the first part by pulling a ScrewThisImOutOfHere when she finds she dies while [[TakeThat complaining at the writers]], and the second one involves her and Nora writing their ''own'' Fix Fic about said ending.]]
* ''FanFic/CitadelOfTheHeart'' has many examples of this, some more obvious than the others.
** ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' is one for ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' in regards to Jeri and Impmon. Jeri gets promoted to the main character and ends up avoiding becoming a DamselInDistress for too long as a result, although Leomon is AdaptedOut but with a twist; Impmon becomes her partner Digimon instead. Out of a perceived uselessness in his character from the canon until he becomes Beelzemon, Impmon gets a better chance to shine as he also gets to show his Champion and Ultimate forms in this fic.[[note]][[spoiler:Devimon and [=NeoDevimon=] respectively as depicted here, both of them chosen as ''another'' Fix Fic example since Meramon and [=SkullMeramon=] don't exactly immediately register as "Demon Lord prior forms" in comparison.]][[/note]] [[BaseBreakingCharacter Ryo]] is depicted as a TeamDad character with a case of AdaptationalNiceGuy due to his ego being toned down immensely, as then he and Cyberdramon actually address the ElephantInTheLivingRoom from Canon!''Tamers'' by [[spoiler:making a plot point out of how Cyberdramon is the result of [[OlympusMons ZeedMillenniummon]] and Monodramon DNA Digivolving together]]. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Oh, and Ruki and Ryo are both given an]] AgeLift [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking to make things less]] [[{{Squick}} creepy]] [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking than their canon ages in regards to]] ShipTease.[[note]]The four year age gap becomes a two year age gap, and Ruki is depicted 17 here with Ryo being 19, with Ruki and Ryo both being aware of Ruki's strict guidelines of how Ryo cannot ([[NotSoAboveItAll or]] ''[[TheTease can]]''[[NotSoAboveItAll , at times]]) look and most certainly can't touch her in a sexual manner until she turns 18 in a few months after the start of the fic.[[/note]]
* ''Fanfic/TheNightUnfurls'' turns ''[[https://tropedia.fandom.com/wiki/Kuroinu_Kedakaki_Seijo_wa_Hakudaku_ni_Somaru Kuroinu]]'', originally a {{hentai}}, into a [[DarkFantasy dark]]/[[LowFantasy low]] {{fantasy}} without the {{NSFW}} elements while [[{{Crossover}} adding]] some ''VideoGame/BloodBorne'' into the mix. In particular, most of the Seven Shields [[spoiler:avoid their fate of being [[SexSlave enslaved and raped]] by the Black Dogs]], as it happens in ''Kuroinu'' {{canon}}. They also get [[AdaptationalExpansion more character]].
