A fashionable bit of personal accessorizing are [[TitleDrop Femme Fatalons]]. Often filed to a painful point and extending well past the end of the fingertip, these nails mark the woman wearing them as, at the very least, untrustworthy, and often as dangerous or predatory.

It's uncanny how often women with Femme Fatalons turn out to be villainesses too. While PowerHair at least has the benefit of the doubt (mostly because most people have hair), it's a rare woman who can wear these and be on the side of good. Maybe it's the claw-like look, the illusion of CreepyLongFingers, the implied [[CombatSadomasochist sadism]] and FingerLickingEvil, or perhaps just having them is itself a RedRightHand (well, red fingernail polish). They also imply that the wearers consider themselves above manual labor, overlapping with AristocratsAreEvil and IdleRich, or they're vain, since a lot of effort goes into maintenance. In works aimed at children, a woman wearing stiletto nails is ''always'' a ChildHater.

Non-natural long nails, like acrylic or gel extension or glue-ons and primarily decorative nail guards or nail sheaths ([[http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.79878858.jpg like these]]) also count as Femme Fatalons, [[MakeupIsEvil as long as they're used as a hint that the wearer is dangerous or villainous]].

Weapons like clawed gloves, or clawlike extensions attached to (or growing out of) the hand or fingers are not Femme Fatalons; they're WolverineClaws. An easy rule of thumb to follow is that if they're primarily for looks, they're Femme Fatalons. If they're primarily intended as weapons, they're Wolverine Claws.

Despite the name, Femme Fatalons are not only worn by women, either. The occasional male villain will opt for them as well.

Not to be confused with FemmeFatale. Compare FingerLickinEvil or [[NaturalWeapon actual claws]]. Often found along with FangsAreEvil. May be paired with CumbersomeClaws and IBrokeANail.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
%%* Ouka of the ''Franchise/DotHack'' series has these.%%
* The demon Velsper's familiar, Wasp of the Blue Lance, has long claws in ''Manga/AhMyGoddess''.
* Kanae Morino of ''Manga/AquarianAge'' has claws in her alter form, and Yoriko's shadow self can extend hers.
* ''Manga/BlackButler'' has a male example: Undertaker has long black nails, and he is AmbiguouslyEvil.
* ''Manga/BlackLagoon'':
** The Russian mafia boss Balalaika has long pink talons.
** The Taiwanese assassin Shenhua has long red nails.
* Male example in ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'': MadScientist and CrossesTheLineTwice JerkAss Mayuri Kurotsuchi has a single long nail on each hand. He's a scholar. Confucian scholars would grow out their fingernails as a sort of "See? I don't need to work!" sign. Then it sunk in that [[FridgeLogic this made reading and writing awkward]] and they cut back to just one nail on each hand.
%%* Msyu from ''Manga/CTheMoneyAndSoulOfPossibility''.%%
%%* Bee from Kia Asamiya's manga ''Manga/DarkAngel'' has really long, silver nails.%%
%%* Corona from ''Manga/DestinyOfTheShrineMaiden'' has long, fake orange nails.%%
%%* Maria Kawai from the manga ''Manga/ADevilAndHerLoveSong''.%%
* The demon principal in ''Anime/DevilHunterYohko'' has Kurumu-like talons which she uses as weapons.
* Arukenimon, a spider Digimon and one of the villains of ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'', shows off some long purple nails in her human form.
* ''Franchise/DragonBall'': A number of characters have this trait, perhaps most noticeably [[HumanoidAlien Namekians]] because the first one of them introduced was imagined as a [[OurDemonsAreDifferent demon]]. Unlike most of the examples on this page, they're a male-looking OneGenderRace.
* ''Manga/Fabricant100'': No 100 has sharp nails she can use as claws.
* Lust from ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' has the power to grow her nails incredibly long. They can also retract into her hands and must be pretty strong since they never break. Although she does use them for slashing, mostly, she uses them to stab people.
* Male example: [[SociopathicHero Hayato Jin]] from ''Manga/GetterRobo'', who actually does use them in a stabbing motion. The results [[EyeScream are never pretty]].
* The two female leads from ''[=InuNekoJump=]'' have long, artificial nails. The main female protagonist has a habit of using them as a motivational tool on her love interest.
* The latest episode of ''Anime/KiddyGirlAnd'' introduces Rubis, an assassin who transforms into an animal-like creature and extends the nails on both her hands and feet as weapons. Also an example of FingerLickinEvil.
* Satsuki of ''Anime/KillLaKill'' takes the road less traveled by and turns her ''toenails'' into lethal weapons.
* Pachira from ''Anime/MagicalPokaan'' has these, although she uses them to scratch people when irritated.
* Two antagonist mermaids in ''Manga/MermaidMelodyPichiPichiPitch'' have claws.
* Episode 44 of ''Anime/MobileFighterGGundam'' has a shot of [[ActionGirl Allenby Beardsly]] with claws while under the control of the [[TheBerserker Berserker System]].
%%* Pixie from the ''Anime/MonsterRancher'' anime has long red claws, as does Poison. Lilim has long black claws.%%
* Haruka Hasegawa from ''Manga/{{Moyashimon}}'' has long matte black nails and is shown to be able to draw blood with them.
* Nao Yuuki from ''Anime/MyHime'' gets to weaponize hers as her summonable Element for being one of the chosen [=HiME=]. She's a DarkMagicalGirl AntiHero whose normal M.O. is to practice CompensatedDating with adult pervert men with the implied promise of more...''discreet'' activities before she whips out the claws (and her [[{{Mons}} CHILD Julia]], a six-foot-tall arachnid monster) and beats up her prey to steal their money. When she helps the good guys it's mainly an alliance of convenience so that she can go to town without them bearing down on her.
* In ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'', Evangeline occasionally has long red nails when showing her vampiric nature.
* In the first episode of ''Manga/OnePiece'', the evil Alvida has long, sharp red nails.
* Harumi Chono of ''Anime/ParanoiaAgent'' wears fake nails when she's her [[SplitPersonality other personality]].
* Another male example in the ''Manga/PeacemakerKurogane'' manga. After becoming gay and crazy, Suzu grows out his nails and wears nail polish.
* Sae from ''Manga/PeachGirl'' has nails and has the habit (in the manga, anyway) of leaving gouges in other people's cars.
%%* A Male Example is Count D of ''Manga/PetShopOfHorrors''.
* ''Manga/PhantomThiefJeanne'' - [[spoiler: Fin Fish]] has black nails after her EvilMakeover upon revealing her [[HeelFaceTurn true allegiance]].
%%* Rue has long dark nails when she's her alternate persona Kraehe in ''Anime/PrincessTutu''.
* In the 11th OVA episode of ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'', Kasumi Tendo gets claws from being possessed by an {{Oni}} and uses them to give her dad a painful shoulder massage.
* ''Manga/RosarioPlusVampire'':
** Kurumu gets impressive claws while in succubus form.
** Moka is shown in the artwork as having talons while in vampire mode.
%%* Ryoko from ''Ryoko's Case Files'' has long nails in the manga.%%
* The female antagonists in the ''Anime/SaberMarionetteJ'' universe have talons and make good use of them.
%%* There are numerous examples in ''Franchise/SailorMoon''. Most of which are antagonists (save for a single protagonist -- Kakyuu).%%
* ''Manga/SaintSeiya'': Ophiuchus Shaina's uses them quite often in combat, and she can even [[ShockAndAwe coat them in electricity]] when she uses her signature attack Thunder Claw.
* Lilly Five team member Ellie in ''Manga/ShamanKing'' has a French manicure which serves as the medium for her oversoul which becomes a set of claws.
* Subverted by Dominura from ''Anime/{{Simoun}}'' who has long, red nails and is initially introduced as a mysterious and ambitious woman, intent on upsetting the current way of things in Chor Tempest. However, she eventually turns out to be somewhat of a BrokenAce and develops quite cordial relationships with the rest of TheSquad, especially with her partner and paramour [[spoiler:Limone]].
* Several of the female antagonists from ''Manga/SorcererHunters'' have long nails.
* The witch-like CatGirl Blair and snake-like witch Medusa from ''Manga/SoulEater'' have long nails.
* Kirasaku Made from ''Manga/SutekiTanteiLabyrinth'' has talons that she uses as her weapons.
* The demon Yuzuha and [[HalfHumanHybrid offspring]] Mayuka from the 2nd ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' film have claws.
* Male example: ''Literature/TrinityBlood'' protagonist Abel Nightroad has long black talons while in his Crusnik form.
* ''Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle'': Kiishim has Femme Fatalons, but turns out to be not so evil after all in later appearances. Not to mention that even initially, she was {{Mind Control}}led.
* Male example: Larva from ''Manga/VampirePrincessMiyu'' has nails so hard that he can stab and behead Shinma with them.
* ''Anime/{{Vandread}}'''s Jura Elden finds time to manicure her nails while maintaining a shield around a planet in one of her attempts to get Hibiki to make babies with her.
* [[CuteMonsterGirl Makie]] from ''Anime/WickedCity'' takes this trope to its extreme: her nails are actually retractable (and hot pink) WolverineClaws that are durable and sharp enough to shred a demon like a hot knife through butter.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/TheMazeAgency'': The murderer in one issue used her long nails to slit her victim's throat. The vital clue was [[spoiler: that she cut her nails immediately afterward to hide the evidence]].
* ''ComicBook/RedRobin'': The villain Maduvu, a member of the assassin group the Seven Men of Death, has disturbingly long pointed nails which he uses in combat.
* ''ComicBook/SabrinaTheTeenageWitch'': The cover of issue #90 uses this as a metaphor for Sabrina being tempted to TheDarkSide--one hand has rounded nails with pink polish, while the other has sharp nails with a coppery polish.
* ''ComicBook/SpiderWoman'': Nekra, a recurring adversary of ''Spider-Woman'' and, later, ''ComicBook/TheAvengers'', always wears her nails long and sharp, as if her [[EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette sickly pale skin]] and black outfit weren't proof enough.
* ''ComicBook/TeenTitans'': [[Characters/TeenTitansCheshire Cheshire]] has her sharpened fingernails as her most iconic weapons, and as a MasterPoisoner, she frequently [[PoisonedWeapons keeps them poisoned]], making even [[DeadlyScratch the tiniest scratch potentially deadly]]. It can vary if they're actually just her natural nails or if she has some kind of [[WolverineClaws claw weapon]] on her fingers.
* ''ComicBook/WonderWoman'':
** ''ComicBook/WonderWoman1942'': Queen Atomia has sharp fingernails longer than her fingers.
** ''ComicBook/WonderWoman1987'': The gorgons' fingernails are long, sharp, and coated in gold.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Strips]]
* In ''ComicStrip/DickTracy'', MasterPoisoner Newsuit Nan had long sharp fingernails which she used to scratch her victims and induce poison into their bloodstream.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* ''Fanfic/BurningBridgesBuildingConfidence'': Alya provides a {{Downplayed}} version when she sharpens her fingernails right before attacking Marinette and Cole, with the fact that she took the time to do so serves as proof that she has no intention of coming back from her FaceHeelTurn. The akuma Revengance has a pair as well, fittingly, given that she's [[spoiler:Alya fresh off her breakup]].
* The titular character of ''Webcomic/TheStoryOfBlackPearl'' has a pair sharp enough to cut glass. Which she demonstrates on Chrysoberyl's ScaryShinyGlasses while illustrating how [[HourglassPlot she now holds power over her former tormentor]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheEmperorsNewGroove'': Yzma has long, purple nails.
* Vanna Pira from the movie ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheReluctantWerewolf'' has long red nails. Subverted in that she's arguably the least threatening monster in the movie.
%%* The Fairy Godmother in ''WesternAnimation/Shrek2'' has long pink fingernails.%%
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* The Brazilian horror character Coffin Joe, from ''Film/AtMidnightIllTakeYourSoul'', has ridiculously long fingernails, which he uses to gouge people's eyes out.
* The female member of Griff's gang in ''Film/BackToTheFuturePartII'', made worse by her on-screen proclivity toward unprovoked {{Groin Attack}}s.
* David Lo Pan from ''Film/BigTroubleInLittleChina'' rounds out this manly manicured trio. He used his in conjunction with his evil BlackMagic.
* In ''Film/DennisTheMenace'', the antagonistic boss of Dennis's mother has red fake nails and even taps them on a divider as she walks along in one scene.
* ''Film/TheForceAwakens'': Bazine Netal, the First order spy in Maz's bar, wears pointed black finger caps.
* Bellatrix Lestrange has long nails in several of the ''Film/HarryPotter'' films. For that matter, so does her male boss Voldemort -- which isn't surprising, as he LooksLikeOrlok (though he's an EvilSorcerer instead of a vampire, and he lacks the nose and hunchback).
* Winifred Sanderson from Disney's Halloween movie ''Film/HocusPocus'' has these. With all her crazy hand motions, it's kind of hard to miss, especially when she uses one like a knife to cut through a window screen.
* Several of the women in the Film/JamesBond series have talons. A few noteworthy examples were Helga Brandt from ''Film/YouOnlyLiveTwice'', Tiffany Case from ''Film/DiamondsAreForever'', Solitare from ''Film/LiveAndLetDie'', and Magda from ''Film/{{Octopussy}}''. The villainess in the unofficial film ''Film/NeverSayNeverAgain'' has somewhat long red nails.
* In ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'', Saruman definitely wears them with style.
* Casanova Frankenstein, the villain from the film ''Film/MysteryMen'' has these. Used for comic effect, as he prefers to attack with the sharpened nail of a single outstretched pinky.
* In the French action movie ''The Nest'' (Nid de guêpes), villain Abedin Nexhep is introduced with a shot of his long (for a man) and manicured nails. Any notions you might form about him being a cossetted hands-off type is later gruesomely punctured, along with the throat of one of the cops.
* In ''Film/NeverTooYoungToDie'' The evil hermaphrodite Ragnar has a ''very'' sharp fingernail he uses to kill multiple people with.
* Count Orlok, the vampire from ''Film/{{Nosferatu}}'', is an early male example. Definitely overlaps with CreepyLongFingers.
* In ''Film/OzTheGreatAndPowerful'' [[spoiler: Theodora]] sprouts a set when she does her FaceHeelTurn. They're the first thing we see of her new "wicked" form.
* Male examples are more common than female in ''Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean''. Barbossa has long, sharp, blackened fingernails, and Davy Jones has pointed nails on the fingers that aren't mutated into tentacles. However, the prize has to go to Sao Feng, whose nails are long enough to curl.
* In ''Film/RobinHoodPrinceOfThieves'', the witch who is the Sheriff of Nottingham's mother has long and sharp nails, which she uses to cut herself.
* In ''Film/{{Skyfall}}'', icy henchwoman Severine wears these, lacquered purple and gold. They go with her absurdly vampy beaded dress and were intended to evoke the appearance of a dragon. However, unlike other examples, she's not presented as a FemmeFatale, being more a prisoner of her employer than a willing partner.
* Ravena in ''Film/SnowWhiteAndTheHuntsman'' wears a finger guard with a metal claw on it.
* In ''Film/TheThirstyDead'', Ranu, the high priestess of the immortality cult, has incredibly long, impractical fingernails.
* In the comedy ''Film/{{Volunteers}}'' a DragonLady uses them to [[RuleOfFunny impale fruit so she can eat it]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* The Chancellors of the Capellan Confederation in ''{{TabletopGame/Battletech}}'' wear the last three nails on each hand extra long and extra sharp following the fashion of Chinese emperors in RealLife history. Of course, the emperors weren't half as likely to have them ''artificially reinforced''...
* ''Literature/{{Coraline}}'': The Other Mother has long thin fingers with red nail polish on each fingernail.
* One of the female smugglers in [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flood_Tide Flood Tide]] has long fingernails.
* The Warden of ''Literature/{{Holes}}'' paints her nails with polish made from rattlesnake venom (and then scratches her minion with them when they are still wet, causing him severe pain and injury).
* Another male example: the ''Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse'' character General Melvar has very long fingernails. Very long, metallic, reflective, sharp fingernails. He's even shown to have cut himself with them by accident before. Creator/AaronAllston's run on the X-Wing books, basically a canon FixFic for the book in which Zsinj and Melvar were introduced, explains that this is part of an act to make himself look like a stereotypical evil/psychopathic Imperial, both to make his enemies underestimate him and to impress/intimidate pirates he's trying to recruit.
* ''Literature/TheWheelOfTime'': The aristocracy of the invading Seanchan [[TheEmpire Empire]] all wear long fingernails, which are painted to denote their precise rank. The first few encounters overlap solidly with AristocratsAreEvil and AgentPeacock, as they're [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil slaveholders]] and quite effete by Westland standards, but later books portray them with much more nuance.
* In ''Literature/TheWitches'', the MageSpecies are AlwaysChaoticEvil and have several RedRightHand features, including long, catlike claws, which they hide with gloves.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* Huntress from the TV series ''Series/BirdsOfPrey2002'' had long nails.
* There's never any doubt that Drusilla from ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' is evil, but she definitely has these. She kills [[spoiler:Kendra, a Slayer, in the season 2 finale]] by cutting her throat with a single nail. Also offhandedly comments "I didn't like that bartender. His eyeballs got stuck to my fingers." ([''licks fingers''])
* Numerous villains in ''Series/Charmed1998'' (both male and female) have had long nails.
* One minor character had long nails complete with a diamond piercing in the pilot episode of ''Series/DarkAngel''. She even went so far as to offer to show Max how sharp they really were.
* Several characters on ''Series/{{Claws}}'' have this, although it makes sense as they work in a nail salon.
* ''Series/{{Farscape}}'':
** Aeryn Sun's mother apparently had these, as she escaped capture by using them to ''slice open her own arm'' to pull out a knife she apparently had surgically implanted [[CrazyPrepared just in case]].
** In "[[Recap/FarscapeS03E11Incubator Incubator]]", Scorpius' nanny has red, talon-like nails. For that matter, so did Scorpius as a child, though he evidently trimmed them before he started wearing his coolant suit.
* A YellowPeril villain from ''Series/GetSmart'' had these, going as far as to cut up apples and carve statues with them. Agent 86 comments that this is probably how he is able to afford an underground lair. "Think how much money he saves on knives!"
* ''Series/TheLordOfTheRingsTheRingsOfPower'': A masculine example. Adar's fingernails are long and unkempt.
* [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maila_Nurmi Maila Nurmi]] as Vampira had long pointy nails.
* In the ''Series/MastersOfHorror'' episode "[[Recap/MastersOfHorrorS1E2HPLovecraftsDreamsInTheWitchHouse H.P. Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch-House]]", the witch has some razor-sharp nails which she uses to claw bloody marks into Walter's back.
* Referenced in ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'': JD and Turk like to put Bugles (cone-shaped corn chips) on their fingers and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGtWblFcvjE pretend they have "witch nails".]] Turk accompanies this with an EvilLaugh.
* Abaddon, who is a Knight of Hell, has long red nails in ''Series/{{Supernatural}}''. Also the Alpha vampire; when he's captured and strapped to a chair, he uses a particularly long nail to cut through the leather cuff holding one arm.
* {{Exaggerated|Trope}} with Kali in ''Series/TeenWolf''. She not only has (apparently) permanent, black-painted claws on her hands but on her ''bare feet'' as well. Why no one (aside from the main characters fighting her) ever noticed a woman walking around with no shoes or socks and large sharp claws on her toes is never addressed.
* ''Series/TidelandsNetflix'': Adrielle has her nails sharpened into talon-like points, reflecting her menacing but beautiful appearance. Her predecessor Genoveva also has them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pinballs]]
* The Rider in Creator/{{Bally}}'s ''Pinball/{{Centaur}}'' shows off some sharp fingernails on the playfield.
* The Devil in ''Pinball/DevilsDare'' gets to show off his wicked curved fingernails as he reaches out to the player.
* The EvilSorcerer on the ''Pinball/{{Sorcerer}}'' pinball has these.
* The aliens in ''Pinball/SpaceInvaders'' combine this with NaturalWeapon.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pro Wrestling]]
* Wrestling/LunaVachon as a manager, rattling and scratching things with her claws while barking orders. As a wrestler, not so much.
* Wrestling/MsChif sharpens her nails, seemingly just for this effect, as she's much more likely to back fist than scratch.
* Wrestling/{{Melina}} was proud of hers on Smackdown and made sure to keep them protected even when attacking, which ironically led to her using more legal forearms and axe handles more frequently than punches. Less so after she got her first shot at the Women's Championship.
* Luscious Latasha's come to flat points, but they've still gotten long enough for her to describe them as "claws" and "duck nails".
* During the lead-up to Wrestling/AmazingKong's ([[TenMinuteRetirement first]])retirement in [=SEAdLINNNG=] she grew her nails out to the point she couldn't make a good fist without her gloves, [[DivergentCharacterEvolution in contrast]] to TagTeam partner Wrestling/AjaKong, who typically [[TheGlovesComeOff removed the gloves]] when she got serious.
* Peruvian Princess Amanda Rodriguez has nails that come to noticeable points, though this seems to be purely aesthetic and not factor into her matches.
* Salina de la Renta began wearing pointy nail extensions when she became a manager in Wrestling/{{M|LW}}ajor League Wrestling. The better to direct her minions at the objects of her scorn.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* Even ''TabletopGame/BattleTech'' has them. One of the affectations of the wealthiest citizens of the Capellan Confederation is to grow the fingernails on the last three fingers of each hand to a length of ten centimeters and decorate them with gem chips and gold leaf, and reinforce them with carbon fiber, turning them into claws able to cut through leather.
** The most famous named 'Mech in the game, [[https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Yen-Lo-Wang Yen-Lo-Wang]], was originally modified to feature enormous titanium nails on its left hand as a reference to this trend. These nails were ''not'' just cosmetic, and in the rules were treated as inflicting as much damage as a hatchet. Justin Xiang, Yen-Lo-Wang's pilot, famously killed a minor rival in his heavier ''Rifleman'' with the nails by [[BackStab stabbing into its weak back armor]] and ripping apart its engine, causing the ''Rifleman'' to explode.
* Creator/GamesWorkshop games:
** In ''TabletopGame/{{Dreadfleet}}'', the artwork for the BigBad, the vampire pirate Captain Noctilus, depicts him with gauntlets that sport long, sharp claws. These appear to be mostly ornamental rather than practical, a visual reference to the long claws/nails sported by some vampires in fiction.
** In ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000'' the background for Lelith Hesperax, leader of the [[TheFairFolk Drukhari]] [[GladiatorGames Wych Cult of Strife]], has had her fingernails reinforced and sharpened to a fine edge so that she can kill her foes even when otherwise unarmed. This isn't represented by her in-game rules, however.
* ''TabletopGame/{{Pathfinder}}'' has several examples: Feiya, the iconic Witch, has extra-long nails. Changelings (an almost literal MageSpecies born from unions of Hags and human men) have these as a racial feature.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theater]]
* In ''Theatre/TheGoldenApple'', Achilles warns that Circe will "scratch your heart out with her long red fingernails."
* A lot of actors who play [[LesbianVampire Herbert von Krolock]] in ''Theatre/TanzDerVampire'' have these. Some just have the nails attached to gloves, however, and sometimes, his hands just look ''exquisitely'' manicured.
* In ''Theatre/TheWomen'', Sylvia in the first scene is showing off her nails, which have been painted a new shade called "Jungle Red." Nancy says it's good "for tearing your friends apart," a quip which Sylvia resents. Mary admires the shade, but the [[ChattyHairdresser chatty manicurist]] who gave it to Sylvia also divulges some gossip about Mary's husband keeping another woman. At the end of the play, Sylvia and the other woman are sore at Mary for having cattily outwitted them, and she says, "Well, I've two years to sharpen my claws," and flashes her fingernails--"Jungle Red, Sylvia!"--before leaving the two ladies alone.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/Bayonetta2'': Alraune has ''absurdly'' long and sharp nails, which are one of her primary weapons.
* ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' loves these ([[JustForFun/TropeOverdosed unsurprisingly]]). Interestingly, they have about as many male examples as female.
** Freya from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX'' has very long fingers and talons, much like the other [[RatMen Burmecians]]. It's a GoodIsNotSoft example, as she's an ActionGirl whose signature move is to [[DeathFromAbove strike enemies from above with her lance]].
** Illua, the main antagonist of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyTacticsA2'', has long nails, which are blue.
** The [[BigBad Cloud of Darkness]] of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIII'' and ''Dissidia'', a lady who gives players either nightmares or...other kinds of dreams, has long sharp nails (or claws, possibly; no game she's been in has striven to clarify).
** Seymour Guado from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' has long sharp nails in the same game. And they're lilac.
** [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX Kuja]] has long red manicured nails in ''VideoGame/DissidiaFinalFantasy''.
** All [[CuteMonsterGirl female viera]] in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII'' have long, square-tipped nails. It's unknown whether male viera follow the same grooming habits as none are depicted in any of the games.
** [[BigBad The Emperor]] of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyII'' has always been depicted with long, claw-like nails, likely serving as a RedRightHand, but the...[[OffModel interesting take on the character]] shown in the FMV opening to later remakes of the game really takes it up a notch, [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/5/5e/Emperor%27s_Ambitions.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111128034038 as you can see]]. Name and number of your manicurist, ''please'', Mr. Palamecia.
** These are a key feature of [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII Ultimecia's]] appearance.
** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII'', Galenth Dysley - a very old-looking man of pope-like position - has them. [[spoiler:He is also fal'Cie Barthandelus in disguise; [[MorphicResonance his fal'Cie forms have some very sharp claws of their own]].]]
* ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'' has multiple examples:
** Aversa, a classic FemmeFatale, has dangerously sharp nails and is both the head henchwoman of [[TheDragon Validar]] and a uniquely talented sorceress. [[spoiler:She can eventually be turned to the player's side through DLC, but retains her villainous appearance down to her nails afterward.]]
** Validar himself has very long nails, which make his hands look like claws given the generally shadowy lighting he's found in.
** [[DiscOneFinalBoss Gangrel]], king of Plegia at the start of the game, also has long nails. [[spoiler:He, too, can be recruited by the player through DLC.]]
** Excellus, a Valmese member of the Grimleal and SmugSnake to hell and back, also has long painted nails. Unlike the others, his are actually maintained ''without'' looking like claws.
*** At this point it kind of looks like a habit of either Plegian nobility, [[ReligionOfEvil Grimleal]], or just villains in general. [[AlwaysChaoticEvil There's a lot of crossover]].
* Luise Meyrink from ''VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters'' franchise has long blue nails.
* Lady Claire from the first ''VideoGame/LuminousArc'' has long, purple nails. However, despite having talons and dressing like a femme, she seems to be weepy and rather "un-fatale".
* Many of the female villains in the ''VideoGame/{{Lunar}}'' series have long, manicured nails.
* Darklaw of ''VideoGame/ProfessorLaytonVsPhoenixWrightAceAttorney'' sports a golden gauntlet version of this, which gauntlets are only used for show during the game. A borderline case because they could double as actual weapons. [[spoiler:Their use as a prop for magic does not count, especially since her magic is revealed to be just hypnosis and other stage magic.]]
* In ''VideoGame/ReturnOfTheObraDinn'', we have [[spoiler:[[OurMermaidsAreDifferent mermaids]], whose fingernail claws are capably designed to tear off human flesh. This is what happens to the Formosan Royal Bun-Lan Lim, who stays low on one lifeboat while [[BigBad Edward Nichols]]' fellow mutineers are getting slaughtered by mermaids, and ends up with a SlashedThroat by one of them who is strangling her]].
* ''VideoGame/SuikodenII'' has Karen, a dancer you can recruit into your army, who can be used in regular battles. She uses her long, sharp nails as her weapons, and (amusingly enough), has them upgraded by being sharpened at the ''blacksmith's.'' (So does every other weapon in the series - including things like woks, book belts, and ''hammers'', but still.)

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc'' gives us both [[spoiler:Junko Enoshima]] and [[spoiler:Mukuro Ikusaba]]. Granted, it's debatable how ''evil'' the latter is, but she's imitating the former, who we learn is the BigBad.
* [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Queen Ga'ran Sigatar Khura'in]] in ''VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneySpiritOfJustice'' has long red nails that she hides under her robe sleeves until the final trial. They also apparently function as pens.
* Arcueid Brunested from ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}'' has vampiric claws.
* ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry'':
** Beatrice's demon servant Gaap has long, red nails.
** Rosa Ushiromiya is described as having nails that are long and sharp enough to tear apart blankets and [[spoiler:magical stuffed lion cubs]].

[[folder:Webcomics]]
* ''Webcomic/CogaSuro'' has Hades, whose [[SuperMode 100% Synch Mode]] has these.
* Most [[SuperSoldier Jägers]] in ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'' have fingernails turned into claws. Jäger General "Mamma" Gkika [[http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20080423 keeps her claws neat]] and painted red [[http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20111230 at all times]].
* GodEmperor Nadia Om from ''Webcomic/KillSixBillionDemons'' wears these during court functions and has a habit of tapping them loudly on furniture (or nearby slaves) in order to psyche out her petitioners. As a brutal MultiversalConqueror and [[PlanetLooters Planet Looter]] who has condemned entire worlds to starvation and slavery for her own comfort, needless to say, "Mother Om" is not a very nice person at all.
* ''Webcomic/TheThingThatWouldNotLeave'' has [[http://thethingthatwouldnotleave.smackjeeves.com/comics/1700201/003/ Francesca]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''Franchise/AvatarTheLastAirbender'':
** [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender The original series]]:
*** Azula and Mai, though they later cut them. Although [[MamaBear Ursa]] (nice lady, from what we can tell) had them too, so maybe it's just Fire Nation fashion for nobles and royalty. Azula also uses the slashing motion in combat in her first episode, giving Zuko three nice straight scars.
*** Hama, both with her fingernails and waterbent claws which she throws at a tree. The first hint that she isn't some sweet old lady is her using water she sucked from plants (killing them) to create talons of ice.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'':
*** [[RenegadeSplinterFaction Red Lotus]] [[HavingABlast combustionbender]] [[TheBrute P'Li]] is a {{Downplayed}} example. Her nails, while not particularly long, are painted red-black.
*** Earth Queen Hou-Ting has very long green nails with golden nail coverings on the pinky and ring fingers. Long fingernails were often a fashion of imperial Chinese aristocracy in real life.
* The villainous and untrustworthy Roodaka sports large claws in the third ''WesternAnimation/{{Bionicle}}'' movie. She even runs them over Vakama's chest when trying to talk him into betraying his partners. [[ShowAccuracyToyAccuracy Her toy, ironically, doesn't even have hands.]]
* A popular girl from ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom''--angry from losing a beauty pageant--threatens the main character's [[ButtMonkey best friend]] with her sharp, but "perfectly manicured" nails.
* Morganna [=McCawber=] from ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck'' has femme fatalons. She started off playing this straight, but within her first episode, she was already moving into DarkIsNotEvil territory and soon managed to pull off a complete HeelFaceTurn without a hitch, in the process becoming the [[CharacterTitle title character's]] LoveInterest.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' plays with this trope in "[[Recap/FamilyGuyS3E21FamilyGuyViewerMailOne Family Guy Viewer Mail #1]]": when Meg Griffin gets [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Lust]]-like fingernail growing powers, everyone scoffs at her for having such a [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway lame and useless power]].
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}'': Demona, being a gargoyle, boasts these; even in her human persona of ''Dominique Destine'', she files her fingernails into sharp points.
%%* Murdoc Nicalls from Music/{{Gorillaz}} is a male example.
* Skung of ''WesternAnimation/ObanStarRacers'' has Femme Fatalons powerful enough to rip through metal.
%%* In ''WesternAnimation/ReBoot'', Hexadecimal plays this trope straight.
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'': White Diamond [[https://www.hottopic.com/product/steven-universe-white-diamond-t-shirt/11691375.html has long, black fingernails]] that are clawed at the tips, as opposed to the smooth tips of her fellow Diamonds' fingers.
* Clover in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/TotallySpies'' gets these when she's put under MindControl by an evil manicurist.
* The original ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers'' series had the (male) Decepticon Scourge with bright pink sharp "fingernails".
** In ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'', the evil characters have much sharper fingers than the heroes. Unsurprisingly, Airachnid has them, being the primary evil female character of the show. Starscream's claws actually seem to vary in length depending on how evil he's being in that scene.

[[folder:Real Life]]
* New York [[TheTriadsAndTheTongs Tong]] leader [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mock_Duck Mock Duck]] had long fingernails. In Chinese tradition, this was a status symbol, signaling that he was too important to do manual labor.
* [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empress_Dowager_Cixi Cixi]]- the last strong leader of the [[UsefulNotes/DynastiesFromShangToQing Last Chinese imperial dynasty]] (and a BigBad from the perspective of people ranging from Chinese revolutionaries to Western Leaders) had these for similar reasons to Mock Duck. Long fingernails were attractive in the imperial court for the reasons mentioned before. Couple that with Cixi's career involving working her way from being an imperial concubine- through allegedly acting as a FemmeFatale - up to being an Imperial mother to being the true power, and she can at least be accused of it. Though like real life the situation was GreyAndGrayMorality and how truly bad she was is disputable, [[https://www.rom.on.ca/sites/default/files/styles/blog_large/public/blog_post/thumbnail/cixi.jpg?itok=W0dzwKna her formidably sized nails are not.]]
