For some reason, the color [[forestgreen:green]] is associated with mystical/mysterious powers. In fiction, the ArtifactOfDoom or the phlebotium glows green or is made of emerald. Sometimes, a character ''himself'' is this if his green skin is a distinctive feature.

Possibly due to the fact that few things in nature give off green (or purple) light. Natural incandescent light (such as flame) is red, orange, yellow, white or more rarely blue.

This trope is also why GreenRocks are named so, even though the trope does not require the color. MysticalJade can be given this lighting due to the historical properties of jade being supernatural.

Related to SicklyGreenGlow. Also see PurpleIsPowerful and MysteriousPurple.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Manga/{{Basilisk}}'': Averted with Jingoro Amayo. He is green-skinned and possesses abilities of his own, but his supernatural power (being a slugman) is probably the lamest in the series.
* ''Manga/BlackClover'': Finral's magic is incredibly useful in a fight, and comes with a green aura. Also fits given that his hair later turns green after training intensively.
* ''Anime/CodeGeass'': C.C. is an "immortal witch" with long, green hair.
* ''Manga/DGrayMan'': The Innocences glow green, with Allen's leaking green light in its first, weaker stages.
* ''Manga/DragonBall'': While a Super Saiyan glow is usually yellow, [[Anime/DragonBallZBrolyTheLegendarySuperSaiyan Broly]] has a green one. It loses some of the green tint once he gets rid of his father's mind control device, but his signature ki attacks remain bright green.
* In ''Manga/FairyTail'', Zero, [[spoiler: Brain's SuperpoweredEvilSide,]] uses green colored Dark Magic.
* The G-Stones of ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'', which translate ''raw courage'' into energy.
* ''Manga/GetterRobo'': Getter Rays represent the power of life and evolution. They are generally animated as green light, either streaming through the cosmos or glowing in a reactor, but the Getter Beam weapon is usually pink for some reason.
* Sacred Gears in ''Literature/HighSchoolDXD'' glow green when activated.
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'': This is taken literally with Kakyoin from ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders Stardust Crusaders]]''. Not only is his Stand named [[TarotMotifs Hierophant]] ''Green'', but it also primarily shoots emeralds as its main mode of attack.
* ''Anime/LittleWitchAcademia2013'': [[PureEnergy Spell-energy]] is usually green, and so is the "sorcerer's stone" that powers all of their magic.
* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' has One For All, which, when used by series protagonist Izuku Midoriya, conjures green lightning around his body, though this only applies to when it's being used by Midoriya, who already has a green color scheme. When he dips particularly deep into his Quirk, Izuku's entire body [[PowerGlows emits a bright green glow]].
* In ''Manga/NurseAngelRirikaSOS'', Nurse Angel's power source is the ''Green'' Vaccine, so her attacks often take this color...with the alternative being pink. She does fire off a lot of pink energy too.
* In ''Anime/SengokuBasara'', Mitsuhide has a SicklyGreenGlow BattleAura. Considering that [[spoiler:he survived afer being left in a burning temple to die and that he also tries to resurrect his former master Nobunaga with a dark ritual,]] we can see something "mystical" in it.
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'': Spiral Power. Energy running deep in all sentient lifeforms in some level, brought out by fighting spirit, has the capacity (depending on the user) to grow exponentially, to the point of manipulating and distorting probability and even reality itself, symbolizing progress and evolution. [[spoiler:Probably one of the few that can actually have a harming effect, as too much of it can DESTROY reality.]]
* ''Anime/YuGiOh'': The Doma {{Filler}} Arc has the Orichalcos Stone, a green mystical gem which corrupts whoever uses it and brings all their worst traits to the surface. People who have suffered and been broken by great tragedy are especially susceptible to it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/GreenArrow'': Although Green Arrow is a {{Badass Normal}}, his arrows can be enchanted and green.
* ''ComicBook/GreenLantern'': The original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, could shape and control magic green fire. The book was later rebooted with a sci-fi premise, but still qualified as the Lanterns wielded green alien energy. It was only in the 2000s when Lanterns wielding similar energies of other colors emerged, dropping out of this trope by making green not particularly special.
** Alan Scott's daughter Jade has an internalized version of his powers, plus green skin (and though she has traveled in space, she is not a GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe).
* ''ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk'':
** Gamma radiation, one of the most powerful forms of radiation known to man, is depicted as green in Marvel comics.

After overcoming his flaws and traumas, he fully comes into his own potential that he was [[AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength previously afraid of]] and becomes even more powerful than before. Being around [[EldritchAbomination Caelum Filum]] for a month not only changed him into a plant/light-based eldritch god, but also changed his portfolio as well, including giving him a [[GodOfLight Light domain]] due to his natural affinity for [[LightEmUp light magic]]. He is also good at wielding a MagicStaff, as shown in his Fourth-Age fight with [[ArchEnemy War Rock]], where he counters the latter's [[CastingAShadow darkness powers]] with his staff.
** Magic Star (now Princess Magicum Ponyland) has a green mane and tail, and she's presently ''the'' greatest enchantress and wand-maker in all of Known History, with many artifacts she created still retaining their enchantments for four Ages long after they were made. [[spoiler:Cementing this trope further is her re-Ascension as the divine reincarnation of Plasmatio Equus, one of the Thirteen Empyreans and ''the'' UltimateBlacksmith for Equinekind, which enhances her existing powers even further and gives her an addition domain in Creation]].

While not quite reaching WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity levels, Stanley as "The Mask" does use it to [[PayEvilUntoEvil get back at the people who bullied him]], and to woo his crush, nightclub-singer Tina Carlyle. When other less savory individuals get hold of said mask, the results are not so amusing.
