->''"He who sees his own doom can better avoid its path.\
He who sees the doom of others can deliver it."''
-->-- '''Eldrad Ulthran''', ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000''

Sometimes, the most powerful fighter will not be equipped with such {{Stock Superpowers|Index}} as super-strength, or NighInvulnerability. Instead, they have the power to see into the future.

Why is this useful? Because it lets them know your next move, and plan accordingly. Being able to see even a few seconds into the future can be a huge advantage in a fight and can let someone get the edge over opponents that might have more skill or experience and just the shock of having their moves foreseen can cause them to slip up and make mistakes. However, although it can give a big advantage in a fight, there are generally two {{logical weakness}}es that can let people overcome this ability.

The first is by simply being so much stronger and faster than your opponent that they can't react or defend against your attacks. After all, it doesn't matter if your opponent knows what you're going to do next if they physically can't stop you or protect themselves from you. The second is setting up a scenario that's basically the same as the first by simply outlasting your opponent and waiting for them to be [[VictoryByEndurance too injured or tired to keep up]] with you and unable to defend against you.

For the second strategy, having SuperToughness or being Nigh-Invulnerable would be a must because it doesn't matter if they can keep hitting you if they don't have the power to hurt you. In some instances you could also hit them with something that can't be avoided because they won't have time to get outside of the radius before it arrives. This typically requires knowing that they have the power and being able to plan around it. For example, if they can see five minutes into the future, using an invisible, odorless DeadlyGas that kills its victims about ten minutes after exposure.

Why this doesn't muddle up their ability to know what you're doing ''now'' can be chalked up to the RuleOfCool. Alternately, it can be HandWaved by saying that they're not looking that far into the future, or by noting [[RequiredSecondaryPowers their brain can keep up with both]].

Often accompanied by SpiderSense, which warns the user of vague danger instead of predicting specific attacks.

Compare KungFuClairvoyance where the hero seems to have this, but it's not canonically one of their abilities. Contrast with SuperReflexes, which is simply being able to quickly react to attacks ''as'' they happen, not before.

Not to be confused for CallingYourAttacks, which is about calling out the names of your own attacks as you do them.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* This is the special ability of the Tharsis Kataphrakt in ''Anime/AldnoahZero''. It's uncertain whether the machine simply has an advanced combat computer a la ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Gundam Wing ZERO]]'' or if its Aldnoah Drive actually allows it [[MagicFromTechnology to see into the future for real.]]
* In ''Manga/BattleAngelAlita: Last Order'', Caerula Sanguis has this ability due to a combination of being able to read an opponent's neural impulses and 700 years of combat experience, allowing her to both perfectly predict and influence an opponent's moves.
* Sven's seer's eye in ''Manga/BlackCat'' allows him to see a few seconds in the future, thus detecting danger before it happens.
* In ''Manga/BlackClover'', there is the ability called "Ki", which allows the user to sense the Ki of other living beings, and to read their Ki in order to predict their attacks. Only two characters have demonstrated the ability; the Black Bulls' leader Yami Sukehiro is a master of the art, and [[TheHero protagonist Asta]] proves a very quick study when Yami teaches it to him. Which is of immense help since Asta, being completely devoid of magic, cannot sense {{Mana}} like everybody else.
* In ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'', [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain Yhwach]], the BigBad of the series’ second half has this as his signature power. "A of the Almighty" lets him see into the future, however, what is unique about his foresight is that the future that he sees is not something set in stone, so other users of the Almighty are prone to confusion if a foreseen future spontaneously changes. However, not only is Yhwach able to see every possible future and follow any alterations, he is also able to bring any outcome he has foreseen immediately into the present reality. He uses this power to literally defeat his opponents instantly. His ability does have a few weaknesses. One is that he can't see or affect the past so, though he destroyed Ichigo's sword, Tsukishima used his ability to alter the past to change things so the sword was never broken. Next, while his power to show the possible futures is infallible, his own perceptions of reality are not and his senses can be fooled by Aizen's illusion abilities to see false futures created by Aizen's ability. He also cannot see futures that involve beings that use the same type of power he has with strength on his level like when the right hand of the Soul King attacked him, he was surprised because he saw no future involving the attack.
* Oda Sakunosuke of ''Manga/BungoStrayDogs'' has an Ability called Flawless, which allows him to see 5-6 seconds in the future. He is also part of the mafia (albeit a low-ranking member) and has survived multiple assassinations this way. When he encounters Andre Gide, who has the exact same power (but then it's called Strait Is The Gate) things get [[ScryVsScry strange, so to say]].
* ''Manga/ChainsawMan'': Aki loses his TheBeastMaster powers after his Devil abandons him, leading him to sign a contract with the Future Devil for Combat Clairvoyance, allowing him to see several seconds into the future.
* In ''Manga/{{Claymore}}'', it is explained that Teresa's extraordinary strength comes from her ability to read her opponent's flow of yōki so well that she can predict their movements based on where it is flowing to in their bodies, and Clare seems to have inherited this ability, being able dodge before the opponent strikes. However, this makes them weaker when faced with an opponent who can either completely suppress her yōki, or one who has so much yōki overflowing in them that she can't determine what's what, and there are also certain techniques that can't be read, such as Ophelia's "rippling" sword.
* In ''Anime/CodeGeass'', this is the Geass power given to [[spoiler:the Knight of One, Bismarck]]. In her spin-off manga, [[spoiler:Nunnally has it]].
* ''Anime/CorrectorYui'': When [[{{Seers}} Ante]] transfers Yui her powers, it grants her the ability to see the enemy's movements with a few seconds of anticipation.
* ''Manga/FairyTail'':
** Cobra uses his [[SuperSenses advanced magical hearing]] to achieve this via hearing his opponents' thoughts and react accordingly. Even if they somehow shut him out, he can still use his hearing to less accurately predict their movements based on body functions like heartbeat, breathing, and muscle movements. The only enemy who could completely NoSell this was [[spoiler:[[WorldsStrongestMan Acnologia]], whose AntiMagic rendered his mind as "total silence" to Cobra's hearing on top of being physically superior in nearly every way such that Cobra couldn't counter by listening to his other body functions.]]
** In the climax of the [[TournamentArc Grand Magic Games]], [[spoiler: Ultear had hoped to use the ultimate form of her time powers to turn back time for at least a few hours so the heroes can have a better chance at beating the invading dragons who at the moment were on the verge of killing many of them. It only turns back time for a few minutes, but in the process, temporarily granted the heroes this power to avoid and counter deadly attacks and ambushes.]]
* ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'':
** Hokuto Shinken practitioners have this ability thanks to AwesomenessByAnalysis: after seeing your first few moves (or, with the ''really'' powerful opponents, a few minutes of fight), they can predict ''perfectly'' what you're gonna do, and react to that. This is best shown during the fight between Rei and Raoh: after seeing he's completely outmatched, Rei decides to [[TakingYouWithMe launch an all-out attack that will kill Raoh but leave him completely exposed to Raoh's equally lethal attacks]]. Rei launches his attack, and Raoh defends himself, and both die. However, it's immediately revealed that this seemingly simultaneous death was [[ImagineSpot Raoh playing it all in his mind]], having figured out what Rei was going to do the moment he got himself in position to jump towards him! With this new knowledge, Raoh manages to defeat Rei by [[NegatedMomentOfAwesome throwing his cape into Rei's path, preventing him from attacking]], then [[FingerPokeOfDoom sealing his eventual death with a single finger.]] This is a rare moment in Anime where [[ThePowerOfFriendship asking the others to lend him their power]] didn't work for a hero.
** That said, it was {{subverted|trope}} a few times: aside for the fights between Hokuto Shinken practitioners (where the prediction ability of both fighters cancel each other out), we have Souther (who not only was [[KungFuProofMook practically immune to Hokuto Shinken]], but had a few tricks Kenshiro failed to predict in their rematch) and Juza (who practices ConfusionFu to the point he's impossible to predict. While he fights remarkably well, he still loses because Raoh is ''that'' much stronger than him).
* In ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' (manga and ''Brotherhood''), the homunculus Wrath has a super power called the Ultimate Eye, which enables him to predict every single outcome of every single situation in his field of vision. It makes him unbeatable in combat. [[spoiler:He gets defeated when one of the heroes stabs him through the body of a fatally wounded ally, which provided cover and prevented the power from warning Wrath of the danger. That isn't enough to kill him, but another of the heroes uses the opportunity to put out his Ultimate Eye, and as a result of that and his wounds, Wrath is defeated and killed in his next battle.]]
* The combat prediction ability belongs to the homonculus Pride[[note]]the character of Wrath from the manga and second anime, who in this adaptation was named Pride,[[/note]] in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist2003'', who is implied to use the power outside of combat as well [[spoiler:in order to become the ruler of Amestris. Although he only fights a single open battle, he's completely unbeatable in it until Selim Bradley exposes him to the skull of his original body, paralysing him until Mustang can [[RasputinianDeath burn him to death enough times for it to stick]].]]
* ''Manga/FutureDiary'', being a series about people who receive ways to predict the future and are then sent to kill each other, has this in spades. For a more specific example, before he was revealed to be a true participant in the Survival Game with a real future diary, Marco Ikusaba was introduced as the lackey of another participant who [[SuperEmpowering could give people]] "Apprentice Diaries" to work with, and his was the "Brawler Diary" that predicted the moves of his opponents in a fight.
* In ''Anime/FutureGPXCyberFormula'', the Zero Zone serves this purpose, with the driver having the ability to predict their opponents’ movements, finding areas of gaps to pass, detect problems of their and their rival’s cars and reading the state their opponents are in. However, it can also put a strain on the mind of the driver who possesses it.
* ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'': ZX-10, the Eye Primeval, can predict enemy movement with great accuracy and speed; since the Eye lacks offensive capabilities of its own, it relies on its kin, such as the Arm Primeval, to act on those predictions.
* Takuma Fudou from ''Manga/GetBackers'' has this by way of precognition. He can look a few seconds into the future, and see what his opponents are going to do.
* ''Anime/GhostInTheShellSAC2045''. Posthumans can calculate the trajectories of incoming bullets before they're even fired, enabling them to DodgeTheBullet as if they're casually dancing around the impacts.
* ''Literature/GoblinSlayer'': Scouts seemingly have this kind of ability, being able to simulate the possible outcome in the future if they dare to go into the offensive. Rhea Scout and a young Goblin Slayer have both demonstrated this skill, with both of them seeing negative outcomes, and therefore avoid taking actions that would lead them to be beaten.
* ''Manga/{{Inuyasha}}'': Naraku's attachment Goshinki is [[{{Telepathy}} telepathic]], allowing him to predict incoming attacks and counter them. Sadly, this ability proves useless on Inuyasha when he unleashes his SuperpoweredEvilSide, since in that state, Inuyasha is TheBerserker who's [[PsychicStatic only coherent thoughts]] are UnstoppableRage and [[BloodKnight bloodlust]].
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'':
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind Golden Wind]]'': Diavolo has this as the power of his Sub-Stand Epitaph, which allows him to see 10 seconds into the future with perfect accuracy. Epitaph's ability in combination with King Crimson's power to erase ten seconds at a time makes Diavolo an incredibly formidable opponent, as he is able to use the Stands to simultaneously predict what is going to take place and ensure it does not affect him.
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean Stone Ocean]]'': Kenzo's Dragon's Dream works this way, giving Kenzo and his opponent hints as to which angles and locations to attack from that would ensure that their attacks land perfectly.
* ''Manga/JujutsuKaisen'': Charles's Cursed Technique allows him to see his opponent's future actions by imagining their actions as a manga page and reading the panels in reverse.
* In ''Anime/KatanaMaidens'', Yukari Origami has this ability[[spoiler:, although that may have come from being possessed by an Aradama,]] at the beginning of the series. However, it had limits, she could only use it for parrying blows as she had to wait for her opponent to make a move to avoid a situation where there were too many possibilities for her mind to process. In addition, if Yukari attacked it may also have resulted in too many possible outcomes.
* There are multiple ways to achieve this in ''Manga/KenichiTheMightiestDisciple''. With the ''Inner Eye,'' a martial artist memorizes the rhythm of the opponent's movements, and can predict where the opponent will move and attack, making their attacks nearly always accurate. The Ryusei Seikuken technique reduces the size of a Seikuken to a thin layer over the skin, letting the user dodge with just the smallest movements, however to the enemy it looks like their mind is being read. And the Attack Trail Fight, where you form a trail of all possible attack patterns the opponent may take, having, attempting to read the next trails and block them. Needless to say, all three are very high level techniques.
* ''Anime/KnightHunters'': Brad Crawford has the ability to see bits of the future, making him a formidable fighter.
* The ZERO System from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing'' works like this, except that it's technological rather than a superpower. It's an advanced combat analysis complex that puts together massive amounts of battle data and tactical analysis and feeds it directly into the pilot's brain, including predictions of what the enemy's going to do. Combined with the [[{{Technopath}} mindlink]] the System creates, this allows the pilot to move and react as if the HumongousMecha were part of his own body. The problem is that it tends to evaluate ''everything'' as a potential threat, and to assume all potential threats are imminent threats, meaning that often the ZERO System's recommended course of action is "destroy everything in sight". Combined with the sensory overload of all that data being dumped into the pilot's brain, it takes considerable willpower and emotional control to use the ZERO System without going insane. Heero, Zechs and Quatre all master it to the point that they can use it with no problem at all by the end of the series, and [[spoiler:Dorothy]] is able to instantly use it without hindrance, perhaps on account of [[InsanityImmunity already being a bit crazy]]. In the final battle, Quatre somehow seems to ''still'' be able to do this even after he disconnects the ZERO System from his Gundam. Despite PsychicPowers supposedly not existing in ''Gundam Wing''.
* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' has All Might's former mentor Sir Nighteye's Quirk "Foresight". By touching someone and making eye contact, he can see their entire future, but it gets fuzzier the further he looks ahead. He considers this a case of BlessedWithSuck however, as he finds YouCantFightFate.
* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', upgrading to the three-tomoe state of the Sharingan gives this ability. If they're looking at someone in motion it will be like they can see exactly where and in what position that person's entire body will be in. However, there are some things, like the AnimalBattleAura of a tailed beast's host or Wood/Sand techniques, whose movement it can't predict very well. The other shortcoming is that knowing exactly what your opponent is about to do doesn't necessarily mean you're strong enough or fast enough to stop him from doing it. It's fairly useless against Ninjutsu specialists given that hand seals do different things depending on the sequence or element being used allowing the Sharingan user to be caught off guard. Averted the first time this ability is shown: instead of predicting and copying Zabuza's Water-based attack to execute it faster than Zabuza himself as Zabuza initially thinks to be the case, Kakashi puts him under an illusion so Zabuza is the one mimicking Kakashi's movements.
** Its other weakness is if an opponent's attacks are [[ConfusionFu so utterly random as to be completely unpredictable]]. As Killer Bee's ''[[DualWielding seven-sword]] fighting style'' [[CurbStompBattle demonstrates]].
* In ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'', Nodoka's artifact has the ability to read minds. While this doesn't quite fit the Clairvoyance part of the trope, the use we see most often is her reading her opponent's mind in combat and reacting to the opponent's plan.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'':
** This is the foremost ability of Observation Haki, also called "Color of Observation" or Kenbunshoku Haki, one of three [[KiManipulation will-based superpowers]]. It allows the user to sense the presence/aura of other living things, and reading that aura lets them predict their opponent's next move. The ability is rare and powerful, but it has three weaknesses: the user has to maintain focus, the opponent has to know where the attack is going to land, and most importantly, predicting the opponent's attacks is useless if you can't do anything to stop them.
** It first appears as Mantra in Skypiea; [[BigBad Enel]], [[CoDragons his four Priests]], and [[TagalongKid Aisa]] the Shandoran all have some form of the ability. Enel is even able to enhance this with his [[ShockAndAwe lightning powers]], combining Mantra with electromagnetic waves to eavesdrop on whomever he pleases.
** Among the Straw Hats, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji developed it during the TimeSkip—with Sanji specializing in it—and [[spoiler:Usopp]] awakened it in the Dressrosa arc.
** Charlotte Katakuri, one of the [[CoDragons Sweet-Three-Generals]] of the Big Mom Pirates, has supposedly trained his Observation Haki to the point that he can actually glimpse slightly into the future, as long as he maintains his composure. This ability, among others, makes him one of the most dangerous pirates shown thus far, with a bounty racking up over a billion. In fact, it inspires Luffy to keep fighting Katakuri for the purpose of strengthening his own Observation Haki to gain this ability as well. [[spoiler:It works.]]
* ''Manga/{{Psyren}}'': Kabuto Kirisaki's psychic ability "Menace" acts as both SpiderSense and combat clairvoyance. He can see incoming danger as a white aura a few seconds before it actually happens.
* ''Anime/RedBaron'': The Gold Baron, aside from using the same combat system as the Red Baron, has a built-in secondary computer that allows it to predict the opponent's moves with perfect accuracy (even if it hasn't seen them before) and counter them accordingly.
* ''Manga/{{Saki}}'':
** [[{{Bifauxnen}} Jun]] has the ability to read the flow of a Mahjong game and uses this to her advantage by cutting off her opponent when they're about to win. Unfortunately for her, Mihoko also has the ability to perfectly analyze a field to see what's going on ''and'' has a presence that disrupts Jun's ability.
** Toki Onjouji gained this ability after surviving a near fatal illness when she was younger. Specifically, she could see one turn in the future and with this ability, she became one of Japan's best mahjong players in high school. However, [[CastFromHitPoints using this ability comes at the cost of her stamina.]]
* The BigBad of ''Anime/SCryEd'' eventually gains this ability through telepathy, reading his opponent's mind and predicting their attacks from that. Ridiculously, this somehow allowed him to perfectly dodge a man capable of [[SuperSpeed fighting at the speed of sound]], who at one point was spinning faster than the human eye can follow.
* Parodied in ''Manga/SoulEater''. A {{mook|s}} shows up who can read minds mid-combat. Sadly, he can't ''react'' that fast and ends up throwing himself at his opponent's fist at the first opportunity to save himself the bother -- all he saw was different ways he'd get his ass kicked.
* ''Anime/StarDriver'': The VillainOfTheWeek Nurse Okamoto/Hina in Episode 5 has this, able to anticipate all of Takuto's moves... unfortunately, it also came with a fanservice mode. And since she couldn't stop checking out Takuto she lost.
* ''Anime/StrikeWitches'': The InformedAbility of Eila. This allows her to forgo using [[InstantRunes magical shields]] entirely, being able to see and dodge ''[[SlowLaser Slow Lasers]]''. However, problems arise in an episode when she's not considered for a mission alongside her girlfriend Sanya requiring her to be protected from those [[SlowLaser Slow Lasers]] while she's a sitting duck, aiming her rockets.
* ''Anime/SwordArtOnlineTheMovieOrdinalScale'': It's revealed that this is how [[spoiler:Eiji is the No. 2 player of Ordinal Scale; his personal Augma is equipped with a feature for tracking and predicting his opponent's moves, thus enabling him to respond faster]].
* ''Literature/ThatTimeIGotReincarnatedAsASlime'':
** [[ThePaladin Hinata Sakaguchi]] has the Unique Skill [Mathematician], which allows her to speed up her senses and thought processes by over 1000x, analyze the battlefield and the opponent, and even predict the paths of her enemy's attacks.
** During his second battle with Hinata, [[TheHero Rimuru Tempest]] is forced to evolve a similar Skill in order to counter the knight's predictions and obtains [Future Attack Prediction], allowing him to perceive the possible moves an enemy can use and determine which is the most likely form of attack.
** [[spoiler:[[NotSoHarmlessVillain Laplace]] has the Unique Skill [Future Vision], which allows him to look ahead several seconds into the future at will. He uses this to supplement his ConfusionFu fighting style by checking what possible moves will have the best effect on his enemy, or see dangerous attacks incoming and already prepare himself to dodge them. It also works wonders for letting him know when he's outgunned and thus [[KnowWhenToFoldEm when it's time to run]].]]
* ''Anime/TigerAndBunny'': It's not their primary power, but [[spoiler:Jake Martinez]] has a limited form of this; they can read minds and thus know exactly what their opponents are going to do. Initially, no hero is even able to lay a hand on them, as they can just dodge or use their other power to deflect any attack. Kotetsu realizes what's going on when [[spoiler:Jake calls Kotetsu by his real name]]. In the next episode, Kotetsu [[HoistByHisOwnPetard uses the villain's power against them]] by telling Barnaby a fake plan, then attacking in an unexpected way while the enemy is distracted.
* ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}'': Shiki, due to his ability to perceive death, knows when he's about to be hit by a lethal blow. Since his opponents are a lot more powerful than him, that's nearly every blow. That doesn't help him in numerous [[MultipleEndings Bad Ends]]. It's also [[InformedAbility supposed to]] be physically impossible to sneak attack him (although, you can still hit him faster than he can react. [[SuperReflexes This is difficult]]). [[spoiler:It seems to be a hereditary ability of the [[ProfessionalKiller Nanaya clan]], as [[DisappearedDad his dad]] can do it too.]]
* ''Manga/UntilDeathDoUsPart'': An unusual case, the [[LivingMacGuffin sidekick girl]] can foresee the future and has, on several occasions, remotely directed the heroes by predicting which moves will let them dodge the incoming attacks. Although this ability keeps them alive and able to fight, it doesn't always let them escape without injury.
* ''Anime/YuGiOh'':
** Pegasus's Millennium Eye is a variation of this; he is able to read the mind of the opposing player to read their planned strategies and counter them accordingly.
** Ishizu Ishtar's Millennium Necklace allows her to see into the past and the future. She uses this to anticipate her opponent's moves before the Duel even begins.
* ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' has a minor example in Murota, who gained precognition from the opening of the portal to the Makai. He used this ability to win street fights for money, but proves useless against Yusuke due to the vast difference between their speed. [[spoiler: Elder Toguro]] later gains this ability by [[spoiler: taking over the body of Gourmet ([[CannibalismSuperpower who ate Murota)]]]], though once again it proves useless against [[spoiler:Kurama]].
* ''Manga/ZatchBell'': This comes up a couple of times.
** Apollo can sense danger and react to it, which let him make a fool of any opponent that he fought and walk away unscathed, until he fought Zatch and Kiyo, whose experience allowed them to fight to a draw.
** Dufort, [[EvilTwin Zeno]]'s partner, is the one who defeats Apollo by virtue of his own powers. The Answer Talker is an ability caused by 'dying and returning to life,' which he gained due to [[spoiler:years of experimentation by a MadScientist]], and allows the user to immediately glean the answer to any question they ask, as long as they can see, hear, or otherwise perceive the subject of their question...and keep their focus. The latter is a weakness that Dufort exploits against Kiyo when he gains the Answer Talker, too.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* Midnighter in ''ComicBook/TheAuthority'' doesn't ''technically'' have this; he has [[AwesomenessByAnalysis cybernetic implants that allows him to predict his opponents' moves and respond instantly]]. But it's often framed as this in his fights. He likes to tell people some variation of "I've already fought this fight a million times in my head."
** Midnighter has enhanced strength, speed, durability, and healing, but he's not invulnerable. He once tried this schtick on ComicBook/CaptainAtom, a PhysicalGod. [[NoSell Atom was not impressed]].
** Additionally, he once faced off against a guy named Forethought, who had ''actual'' CombatClairvoyance. He wiped the floor with Midnighter; no matter what Midnighter tried, Forethought would simply see the attack coming and deflect it. Midnighter beat him in their second match by [[spoiler:doubling his body armor on specific spots, then letting Forethought wail on those points. When Forethought (who had no super strength or endurance) finally wore himself out, ''then'' Mindnighter kicked the crap out of him]].
* ''ComicBook/Batgirl2000'':
** Cassandra Cain [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower has a version of this]] due to being raised as a TykeBomb. Specifically, she can read human body language as easily as others read words, and thus knows what opponents are going to do almost before they do. Coupled with her incredibly fast reflexes, Cassandra is nearly untouchable in normal combat. However, the downside is that her fighting style is heavily reliant on it, so she tends to struggle against nonhuman or cybernetically enhanced foes, and at one point a psychic accidentally disables it, rendering her nearly useless until it gets restored.
** Cassandra's mother, Lady Shiva, also has it, though for her it's developed from her decades of experience and complete mastery of martial arts.
%%* ''ComicBook/BirdsOfPrey'' villain Archer Braun.%%Administrivia/ZeroContextExample
* In ''ComicBook/DoomPatrol'', Negative Man (''nee'' Flash Forward) can see the immediate future but due to his relative wimpiness his only use in a fight is coordinating his teammates based on his visions. Eventually he loses control of it and can't stop seeing the ''distant'' future, before being given medication that suppresses his powers altogether.
* Dream Girl in pre-any-reboots ''ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes'' can do this. Not only that, but her ability to do so was taken from a much older ''LSH'' story.
* ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'': Spidey sometimes exhibits this, depending on how the writers feel his SpiderSense should work.
* ''ComicBook/{{Superman}}'': When fighting the villain Massacre, Superman eventually figures out that Massacre is able to read his opponent's nerve impulses to predict their actions and knocks him off guard with a ricochet attack, pressing the advantage to keep Massacre from regaining his bearings.
* ''ComicBook/TeenTitans'':
** In one comic, ClockKing is able to clobber Robin by virtue of being able to see a few seconds into the future and knowing what his next move in combat is going to be.
** Ravager has a similar power, though it's a bit unclear as to how. In the final issue of ''Terror Titans'', she wipes the floor with Clock King by [[CombatPragmatist fighting dirty]] and not giving him time to react to his visions. At first, it's stated to be psychic in nature, then later {{retcon}}ned into being a side-effect of the SuperSerum she took which allows her to [[AwesomenessByAnalysis anticipate moves based on body language]], similar to [[ComicBook/Batgirl2000 Cass]], above. Her father Deathstroke, who shares the same powers as Ravager, explains this to her; it's likely that Deathstroke has the ability as well, due to taking the same serum decades ago, but it's not really talked about as much with him.
* ''ComicBook/{{Wolverine}}'':
** Maverick has this as his specific power, along with a hi-tech suit of combat armor that would have made ComicBook/{{Batman}} envious.
** The short-lived villain Mr. X (two-time winner of the Least Original Name prize) relies in combat on the fact that he can read people's minds and tell what they're about to do. Oh, and the fact that he's a kung fu master, but it's his ability to predict moves that gives him the edge he needs. The problem with Mr. X's ability is that it only lets him read his opponent's mind, but not to ''understand'' it. Wolverine manages to beat him by flying into a rage that he can't process, [[ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk Amadeus Cho]] thinks in formulas and SesquipedalianLoquaciousness [[PsychicStatic to confuse him]], ComicBook/IronFist uses unpredictable DrunkenBoxing, [[ComicBook/{{Thunderbolts}} Songbird]] hits him with an undodgeable area attack, and [[ComicBook/TheAvengers Quicksilver]] just [[SuperSpeed moves and thinks too fast for him to keep up]] (while [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome mocking Mr. X about how he'll know every attack is coming but be unable to do a damn thing about it]]). Scourge and ComicBook/{{Deadpool}} also give him a hard time by virtue of being insane. Basically, [[VillainDecay after his first couple of arcs]], his role in the Franchise/MarvelUniverse is to be a whipping boy so that more popular characters can show off their guile.
* ''ComicBook/WonderWoman'': Traditionally, the Amazons are unnaturally good at predicting an opponent's next move during a fight, due to their centuries of training and experience. This includes Wonder Woman, who is additionally usually one of the fastest speedsters in the 'verse without a direct connection to the speed force.
* ''ComicBook/XMen'': Destiny of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants has claimed to have this ability. This is what allows her to fight with a crossbow [[BlindSeer despite being blind]].

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* As in canon, Cassandra/Batgirl/Angel uses this with great efficiency in ''Fanfic/AngelOfTheBat''. However, it is stated that she needs to be very focused in order to use it, and pissing her off too much causes her to get sloppy. This, combined with the fact that she is struggling to hold onto her recently accepted Christianity against villains who are Christian terrorists gives the bad guys something to exploit.
* astolat's ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/243244 Chaos War]]'' has the forces of Asgard losing a war against the "shining ones," [[EldritchAbomination Eldritch Abominations]] who seem like mindless devourers, but "had always been exactly in the right place to exploit whatever maneuvers Thor had tried or stratagems Odin had commanded… nothing but brute strength had ever served against them." The pivotal revelation, along with the unexpected tactic that only MCU Loki could pull off:
-->'''Loki:''' They see the future, and they choose at every moment whichever action is most likely to lead them to the future they desire: the one where their hunger is sated.
-->'''Loki:''' [But] the future is an uncertain thing, after all. They can only choose based on what they see at the moment. Change what they see, and you can control their actions.
-->'''Thor:''' But how could you change what they see?
-->'''Loki:''' Why, haven't you understood yet, dear brother? By [[spoiler:changing my mind]].
-->'''Thor:''' You could alter the way their entire army behaved only by [[spoiler:changing your ''mind'']]?
-->'''Loki:''' You make it sound easy. Would ''you'' like to try [[spoiler:making up your mind to allow an army of shining ones to invade an undefended Asgard and pour over the mountains and devour all our people?]]
-->'''Thor:''' What?
-->'''Loki:''' This isn't a matter of ''tricking'' them. They have to see a future where they feast and all Asgard lies in ruins before them for their devouring, and so I must [[spoiler:choose what would make that future come and remain determined upon that choice -- until they are committed, and I can change my mind to a course that will bring them to ruin instead]].
* ''Fanfic/ChildOfTheStorm'' doesn't make much of this, but Doctor Strange is an exceptionally skilled fighter and a very powerful {{Seer|s}} (and time traveller), which allows him to do this -- in between casually rearranging history to get the exact desired outcome.
* ''Fanfic/EquestriaGirlsFriendshipSouls'': Part of Sapphire Shores' power as The Quintessence is that since she has absolute control over her own reishi and can control/detect others, she can also analyze her opponent's reishi and see the "threads" of how their interactions with others will move forward into the future. This allows her to predict their movements in battle and, with less accuracy, predict the future in general based on how others' reishi interacts with others. Twilight compares it to the quantum theory of how if you know every variable about a molecule, you can predict just about everything it will do. [[spoiler:However, magic [[WrongContextMagic fundamentally messes with her calculations]], not that she doesn't know how to rely on common sense and her prior knowledge of her foe's personality to predict their actions.]]
* ''Fanfic/FateAzureDestiny'': Ritsuka Fujimaru battles Admiral William, who uses a Wisdom Cube to see the future and predict Ritsuka's attacks. Ritsuka defeats him by noticing William is paying too much attention to the future and not to his surroundings and tricks him into stepping into a narrow space that restricts his movement. William has no choice but to leap into the air to dodge an attack, meaning he cannot dodge the next one that defeats him.
* ''Fanfic/{{Nightblade}}'': Rythin develops a form of this halfway through the story. It's a Unique Skill called Future Step and allows him to see the path that an attack assisted by the system will take. He still has to dodge it on his own power, though.
* In ''[[http://fanfics.me/read2.php?id=127043 A RWBY Zanpakuto]]'', Tsukishima's Book of the End lets him read his opponent's traits and memories like a book, and predict a few seconds into the future by "reading ahead". Tatsuki beats him by fighting on instinct, allowing her to attack too fast for him to react, ending up with her giving him a GroinAttack. She then swipes his Book of the End and gains this ability.
-->'''Tatsuki:''' You might be able to see a few moments into the future, but that's not far enough. You should have had the foresight to wear a cup, eh?
* There's a ''Franchise/StarWars'' fan fic, "[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/377554/chapters/616150 The Sith Who Brought Life Day]]", in which an officer trying to figure out the identity of the pilot who destroyed the Death Star looks at some of Luke's records. He'd taken a hand-eye coordination test and caused the computer to crash.
--> At least according to the record, he'd been hitting the correct response buttons in the milliseconds after the trigger stimuli algorithm had been run, but ''before the actual images appeared onscreen'', and the computer had not been able to handle near-simultaneous input and output. He'd crashed the thing three times before he'd evidently [[CoverBlowingSuperpower decided to slow down a little and let the program catch up]].
* ''Fanfic/TowardABrightFuture'': The main character Y/N can turn her [[{{Seers}} Prophecy]] Quirk into this in a combat scenario, highlighted by [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing eyes]], but overuse can give her nosebleeds, light sensitivity, and even seizures. It turned out that [[spoiler: this was her main selling point as an [[DarkAndTroubledPast underground child]] [[GladiatorGames cage fighter]] -- the combatant known as the Prophet was a big crowd pleaser as a fighter who could see her opponent's moves before they made them]].
* ''Fanfic/VanishingAct'': In this crossover of ''VideoGame/Persona5'' and ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'', this is the ability of Flaming Telepath, the Stand of [[spoiler:Hifumi Togo]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Film -- Live-Action]]
* Subverted in ''Film/AssassinsOfBrotherhood'', in which the hero, Wei, faces his former brother-in-arms after surviving a betrayal. The ex-brother had predicted Wei's moves, and played out in his mind how he will defeat Wei by forcing Wei to move to his back before taking down Wei with an OffhandBackhand (he even have an ImagineSpot where he ''utterly'' obliterates Wei in a twelve-second CurbStompBattle). But Wei, having survived their initial assasination, and having spent several months with the monks who rescued him, achieving inner peace in the process, no longer practices the same fighting moves the assassins are trained with -- in the ensuing duel the CurbStompBattle has Wei emerging the winner, killing his brother via SlashedThroat.
* The BigBad in ''Film/TheChroniclesOfRiddick2004'' has this as a {{Required Secondary Power|s}}. If you can [[FlashStep instantly]] [[ConfusionFu pick your next move]], you better know the consequences of those moves. [[spoiler:Riddick tricks him into an unwinnable situation.]]
* The BigBad of ''Film/DOADeadOrAlive'' has developed a pair of sunglasses that both give him the fighting prowess of those he gathered data from, as well as letting him predict their movements. This somehow also lets him take down three fighters in the prime working in unison, while he is twice their age.
* In ''Film/EdgeOfTomorrow'', the aliens can reset the day via GroundhogDayLoop upon the death of one of their EliteMooks, using their RippleEffectProofMemory to study the enemy's every move and plan accordingly. The hero accidentally gets drenched in AlienBlood and acquires that power, which he then uses against the aliens, becoming a OneManArmy, as the aliens can't reset the day without removing his power first.
* ''Film/{{Gettysburg}}'': General Buford makes a speech about what will happen at Gettysburg if he allows the Confederates to take the high ground before the Union infantry arrives. However, this is due to having SeenItAll as a result of decades of experience as a professional soldier rather than any superpower, he does reference the trope.
-->'''Buford:''' It's like tomorrow's already happened and there's nothing you can do about it.
* Brixton Lore, the primary antagonist of ''Film/HobbsAndShaw'', is a cybernetically-enhanced fighter with this ability, able to precisely calculate how his opponent is going to act in any given moment and instantly determining counters to trounce them in battle. This makes him virtually unstoppable in one-on-one combat, [[spoiler:but the titular duo manage to find a weakness in [[AlphaStrike ganging up on him from different angles]] as he's still limited by his sight, so he ends up getting attacked through his blind spot]].
* In ''Film/MacheteKills'', [[BigBad Voz]] can see the future, allowing him to predict his opponent's moves. Fortunately, while he can predict Machete a little, in the end, "Nobody knows Machete."
* In ''Film/MadameWeb2024'', Cassie Webb and the as-yet unpowered Spider-Women can't match Ezekiel's enhanced strength and agility, making any direct confrontation a death sentence. However, Cassie's ability to see into the future by a few minutes allows her to predict his actions in ways that allow her to guide him into the path of electric shocks, explosions and [[spoiler:eventually the falling sign that kills him]].
* The precogs in ''Film/MinorityReport'' are, in a sense, this: they can predict future murders, but of other people, and as they're kept in a chamber at the Precrime police headquarters, the precogs don't do any fighting, but their pre-visions are recorded so that Precops can arrest the pre-criminals before the murders occur. When Anderton becomes a fugitive (framed for the pre-murder of someone he never met), he later takes the precog Agatha with him; she can anticipate the next moves of Anderton's pursuers, and instruct him to evade them accordingly.
* Creator/NicolasCage played a precognitive in the movie ''Film/{{Next|2007}}''. Since he was always seeing two minutes ahead, he was actually LIVING two minutes ahead -- but whenever he ran up against something he didn't want to happen, he would force himself to refocus back into "the present," and choose to do something different. In short, he was so tuned into his precog it worked almost more like the ability to jump backwards in time than to see the future.
* ''Franchise/StarWars'':
** This is the explanation for the Jedi Knights' superior combat skills and ability to [[ParryingBullets block lasers with their lightsabers]] -- they've got the ability to predict the future in a limited way, so they bring their lightsabers into position to parry a shot ''before'' it's actually fired. This is brought up in ''Film/ThePhantomMenace'' when Qui-Gon Jinn pegs Anakin as a potential Jedi due to his ability to participate in podracing -- a sport that human reflexes simply aren't fast enough to keep up with. Jedi can also look further into the future, but this generally requires a lot more effort and is less reliable.
-->'''Yoda:''' Always in motion, the future is.
** Also in ''The Phantom Menace'', we see Obi-Wan's horrified reaction to a glimpse into the near-future, a few seconds before [[spoiler:Qui-Gon is killed by Darth Maul]]. He wasn't actively fighting, but he could see where the fight was going. Sadly, he was physically separated from the fighting by a force field and unable to intervene until it as too late.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* The main character from the ''Literature/AlexVerus'' series is one of the best examples of this. He's usually going up against opponents far more powerful than him, but survives through always being one step ahead.
* In ''Literature/TheBalancedSword'' trilogy, the ability to foresee an opponent's moves is one of the skills developed in the mystical martial art called ''Tor''. The enigmatic mentor character Khoros is rumored to have developed the ability to the point that he can foresee and prepare for his opponents' moves years before the fight even begins, allowing him to become TheChessmaster.
* ''Literature/CradleSeries'': Every Abidan has a Presence, an ArtificialIntelligence that collects and collates information. One of its uses is for combat simulations. Of course, since every individual Abidan is a PhysicalGod, this function is rarely needed -- and if it is needed, your opponent is quite likely so far beyond you that your Presence isn't much help. [[spoiler:Lindon finishes the Monarch Northstrider's AI project, which was an attempt to replicate a celestial Presence, and ends up with one of his own. While it's much weaker since it hasn't had a chance to consume planets worth of information yet, it's still extremely useful since he's more likely to face people around his own power level]].
* Averted in the ''Franchise/{{Dune}}'' series, where several people can predict the future. Mentats can predict the future by way of "projecting" the possible outcomes of a given choice and choosing the most logical one as the one most likely to happen, but their role was not usually that of a front-line combatant. Additionally, they are not actually prescient and are not always right. The Kwisatz Haderach and the Space Navigators do have actual prescience, but yet when it comes to combat, prescience is useless because of too much happening too fast. During one fight, the most Paul could see was that possible futures include him winning and him being carried out as a corpse. This is because the power does not necessarily predict possible outcomes individually on an action by action (or reaction by reaction) basis but rather works by giving visions that are ''years-long'' based on a chain of events that could be triggered by a course of action. Additionally, prescience can be nullified by the presence of other prescient individuals, and some individuals and objects are immune to prescience.
* An unusual case in ''Literature/FengshenYanyi'': the Gao Brothers are tree demons in human form and each controls a magic artifact in the form of a clay idol: one is the Thousand Li Eye, the other is the Wind-Favored Ear, which allows them to see and hear everything around them for miles. Thanks to this power, they can anticipate any plans or strategy devised by the heroes, until Yang Jian distracts them by ordering the soldiers to bang gongs and drums while waving in the air lots of red banners to keep them from spying the camp.
* ''Literature/TheGanymedeTakeover'' by Creator/PhilipKDick and Ray Nelson. During their GunpointBanter, Percy X boasts that he is a telepath and so knows when Dr. Rivers is about to pull the trigger, enabling him to DodgeTheBullet.
* [[spoiler:Prince Po]] from ''Literature/GracelingRealm'' has a variation of this as his [[DifferentlyPoweredIndividual Grace]]. While he can't see the future, he ''can'' sense people's intentions toward him. If someone's going to punch him, he'll know it before they so much as twitch. He's a very talented hand-to-hand fighter on his own merit, and his Grace amplifies it exponentially.
* Played with in Weber's Literature/HellsGate series. While most people's Precog deal with specific disasters like volcanoes or forest fires, the Calirath talent is 'People Precog', dealing with tragic or sweeping events with /people/. It works quite well when the Calirath is going to be risking death in a battle -- the stronger Caliraths can even use it to fight with, and the visions grow stronger if the person has a good chance of dying. In the book itself, [[spoiler:the Crown Prince uses the Calirath talent to arrange a battle that they will most definitely lose so it's a great victory -- but because he saw his death and made sure to follow it to ensure his men the greatest chance at victory, he dies.]]
* In ''Literature/HiddenTalents'' by Creator/DavidLubar, Flinch has precognitive abilities. He can see a few seconds into the future -- [[MundaneUtility and uses it to play dodgeball.]]
* One spectacular aversion in the book ''Iapetus'', in which after the normal protagonist has had his complete helplessness around espers repeatedly proven to him, he encounters a community leader of an esper colony; a physically brutal sociopath who enjoys killing "monkeys" and feels the protagonist has stolen his girl. And who is unconscious after one punch to the jaw that nobody sensed before it landed.
* {{Deconstructed|Trope}} in ''Literature/InvadersOfTheRokujyouma''. Book 12 features a battle against a pair of seemingly invincible magic-users -- one [[KungFuWizard a powerful battlemage]], and the other capable of seeing into the future to predict the heroes' every move. However, [[TheStrategist Kiriha]] realises that their seer can only see possible futures where she ''lacked'' knowledge of what was about to happen, since trying to predict the effects of her own predictions would [[IKnowYouKnowIKnow send her calculations into an infinite loop]]. Kiriha takes advantage of this by using AreaOfEffect attacks (forcing their enemies to move around more to evade, thus placing them further from where their predicted futures took place), and by having her team stagger their attacks (so that the later waves' attack patterns will be [[CounterAttack in response to the enemies' own actions]] and therefore harder to predict). Theia also helps out by ordering her ship to [[ConfusionFu switch between weapons and attack patterns at random, thereby increasing the number of possibilities to keep track of]].
* In ''Literature/JonathanStrangeAndMrNorrell'' before the Battle of Waterloo, Jonathan casts a spell which appears to grant him foreknowledge of who will die during the battle, seeing entire regiments disappear. He then realizes that he doesn't know enough about how the spell works or military tactics in general to put this knowledge to any use, and doesn't tell anyone what he saw.
* Creator/MercedesLackey:
** The main character Kellen in ''Literature/TheObsidianTrilogy'' is a Knight-Mage, and when he's fighting can see his opponent's next move just in time to get out of the way, and can also see open places before they are open.
** In the Literature/HeraldsOfValdemar series, this is a use of the Heralds' rare [[PsychicPowers ForeSight Gift]]. Heralds with {{Telepathy}} have the option to do this in combat, or take it a step further and mess with their opponents' minds to make their attacks miss, though for most this is an unethical use of their power.
** ''The Secret World Chronicles'' has "Battle Sense", shared between two characters; usually it tends to bring up something that they should focus on to prevent a greater disaster.
* Literature/LightAndDarkTheAwakeningOfTheMageknight: Ghost-Sight. As the name implies, a ghostly foreimage warns the user what their opponent will do just before they do it and thus giving the user precious seconds to counter. If the user's opponent is too fast for them to predict, or too fast for the user to respond, then it's more or less useless.
* In ''Franchise/{{Mistborn}}'', the metal atium grants Combat Clairvoyance to those who can use it (mostly the titular [[FunctionalMagic Mistborn]]). In-universe, someone burning atium is believed to be completely unstoppable, except by someone else also burning atium. Normal use allows the user to see an image of exactly what the opponent is about to do, as well as allowing them to instinctively process and react to the information, even being able to dodge attacks from behind. When both combatants are using atium, they are flooded by an array of constantly shifting futures as they react to each other's movements and reactions, and see ''several'' shifting images of each other as a result. Despite the power it grants, each book in [[Literature/MistbornTheOriginalTrilogy the original trilogy]] highlights a weakness of atium. [[spoiler: It's possible to stop burning atium to feign running out then burn it again when the enemy acts, leading to an exploitable moment of confusion. Also, while atium can predict the actions of the opponent, it does not predict the possible outcomes of the user's actions, meaning that atium-use relies on the opponent acting first. Thus, another weakness is that the power can be tricked by deciding on a course of action, and then once the atium-user foresees the action and reacts to it, to quickly switch gears and ''react to the atium-user's reaction''; this has the effect of the atium-user seeing the opponent's before-image "split". The last weakness is that no matter how much atium an Allomancer has they can still be overwhelmed by exhaustion if they fight long enough against too many enemies. There's also another metal, electrum, which allows the user to see the shadow of ''their own'' possible future actions; this is less useful because it always gives the shadow-splitting effect of two atium-users facing each other, and doesn't let you see incoming attacks, just yourself getting hit by them. Despite this, electrum counters atium the same way that it counters itself, and is much cheaper.]]
* "I, Lucifer", a Literature/ModestyBlaise novel, features an antagonist with this ability. He is eventually defeated in combat with Modesty by her getting him to concentrate too much on his predictions, effectively making him choke.
* Hope Adams of ''Literature/TheOtherworld'' has the ability to sense chaotic emotions/events. In one book, this allows her to sense bad thoughts ([[spoiler:such as thinking about pulling a gun on someone]]) before they occur and intercept them, thus giving her some form of combat clairvoyance.
* ''Literature/ThePerfectRun'': Some Blue Genomes like Livia can [[{{Seers}} see into the future]] with such precision that they become nigh untouchable in battle. Combine this with Ryan's [[TimeStandsStill time-stop power]] and the duo can become practically invincible in a fight if done right.
* In ''Literature/ThePosterChildren'', Ida Mae has a limited precognitive ability, allowing her to see about five seconds into the future and thus predict where her opponents will be and what they will do next. Unfortunately, she has yet to practice this with her teammate (and prefers working alone, considering him a deadweight as he's not much of a fighter).
* ''Literature/RavellingWrath'': Yali, who has the power to see possible futures, does this during the climactic fight.
--> But no matter how many times the sword slashed and stabbed, it didn’t come close to Yali’s body. Yali kept calmly stepping out of the way, using small, simple movements to avoid every attack.
* The Dunyain from Literature/SecondApocalypse can't technically see the future, but they can read their opponents' expressions and body language and predict their actions before they perform them.
* In ''[[Literature/LordDarcy Too Many Magicians]]'', Commander Lord Ashley has just a touch of magical talent that gives him the occasional burst of prescience. The most dramatic presentation of this power comes when he's fighting an opponent armed with an enchanted sword that's effectively invisible; Ashley's power lets him accurately predict the other man's movements.
* ''Literature/TheTwilightSaga'': Alice Cullen uses her clairvoyance against other vampires, both for fighting and playing chess -- which leads to a moment where she and Edward (who has PsychicPowers of his own) play a game of chess in their minds without even touching any of the pieces, which ends with Alice placing her king on its side to signify her surrender.
** Edward's telepathic power, while not this ability ''per se'', is also specifically addressed as acting in this fashion throughout the series, as it allows him to counter his adversaries' moves before they carry them out.
* The mind-reading version occasionally happens to background characters in Christopher Stasheff's ''Literature/WarlockOfGramarye'' series, though all of the major heroic characters either are telepaths themselves or unreadable.
* ''Literature/TheWitchOfKnightcharm'': The rookie witch Brynne can look a few seconds into the future to see where attacks or traps will be and how they'll land. She can also use this ability to help her friends by looking into ''their'' futures and then telling them when and how to dodge. This causes problems for the protagonist Emily, who has to fight one of those friends while in the middle of a lethal obstacle course and who is perturbed to realize that the friend is able to dodge all her attack.
* In Evgeni Proshkin's ''Your Half of the World'', people called Forwards can see several minutes into the future and are thus able to pick the most desirable outcome. Most intelligence agencies and {{Mega Corp}}s seek to enlist Forwards, as each one is worth an entire analytical department. The main character is a Forward named Til Hagen who discovers that someone is eliminating other Forwards. The thing is, a Forward cannot be killed by anyone other than a more powerful Forward (i.e. someone who can see ''further'' in time). In order to survive, Til must be able to outsmart someone who may have already foreseen all his possible moves.

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* Discussed in ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' -- in the episode ''Earshot'', Buffy temporarily gains telepathic powers, and Giles suggests that this could improve her fighting skills by letting her foresee attacks in battle. Subverted in that Buffy is way more interested in using her power to [[MundaneUtility cheat in English class]], and within a few hours [[PowerIncontinence the ability has]] [[AMindIsATerribleThingToRead completely overpowered her]] to the point that she can barely stand, let alone fight.
* In ''Series/{{Charmed|1998}}'', Phoebe's power of premonition is utilized in this manner.
* Implied in ''Series/{{Firefly}}'' to be one of the (many) reasons [[TheEmpath River Tam]] is a OneManArmy. Her brain is very advanced -- she could definitely handle processing both present and future events and act accordingly.
* ''Series/KamenRiderZiO'' picks this up as one of his first time-based superpowers, and his EvilDoppelganger can use it too. While powerful, it's not perfect: multiple opponents that Zi-O faces either have superspeed great enough that predicting their moves isn't enough to respond to them in time, or are just so strong that there's no good counterattack, requiring him to use his wits to defeat them instead of just relying on his visions.
* ''Series/KamenRiderZeroOne'' gets a lesser form of this early into the show, letting him create multiple holographic duplicates of himself with different angles of attack and pick the best one to be where he actually is. His final form steps it up into the full thing, to the point where he can out-predict an opponent who ''also'' has clairvoyance, since both have identically advanced supercomputers in their heads, but Zero-One has an extra human mind on top of that, giving him just a little more processing power.
* Daniel Jackson was given three seconds' worth of precognition in the DeepImmersionGaming episode of ''Series/StargateSG1''.
* Ikagen from ''Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger'' has this, dodging attacks without even looking because of his "foresight" and talking about how everyone's fates are revealed to him. [[spoiler: It's all an act. Actually, all the tiny circle designs on his costume are eyes, giving him a 360° field of vision. Once the Kyurangers learned that, attacking him from all sides was enough to take away his advantage]].
* This is the signature skill of the ''Series/UltramanDyna'' monster Sildron. Using the ThirdEye on its forehead, it can predict attacks in order to instantly counter them with its [[AttackReflector reflective]], heavily armored arms, meaning Dyna and Super GUTS had to think one step ahead of it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* ''TabletopGame/D20Modern'':
** In the ''Agents of PSI'' setting, one of the various [[PsychicPowers Psionic Powers]] is Combat Prescience, giving the user a +2 Insight bonus on attack rolls for it's duration.
** In Cyberscape, you get Offensive/Defensive Kata calculators/computers, chips implanted in the brain analyzing the current battle and comparing it to millions/trillions of battle sequences, calculating the most probable enemy attack, defensive weak spots, and giving advance warning to dodge attacks/exploit weak spots. The net result is an insight bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls (for the offensive calculator/computer), defense, reflex save, and listen/spot check to avoid being surprised (for the defensive calculator/computer).
* In ''TabletopGame/TheDresdenFiles''' RPG, the custom power "A Few Seconds Ahead" that canon character Abby has allows her to see a few seconds into the future. The in-game effect of this is that it allows her to use her high Lore skill to dodge attacks rather than her lower physical skills. For seers liks Abby, [[BlessedWithSuck the downside]] is that she walks around in a dazed state, overwhelmed by the constelation of possibilities clouding her mind around her.
* ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'':
** A few spells do this by giving their caster damage resistance.
** Not just spells, but various feats, class/race abilities, skills and item properties work as boosts to Initiative rolls, keep you from being subject to surprise attacks, be able to use interrupting abilities, move out of the way, have someone else take the damage, or otherwise ticking off the GM.
** This is also what numerical "insight" bonuses represent -- knowing where an opponent's attack will land makes a character harder to hit, and knowing where an opponent's weak spots are going to be positioned makes a character better at hitting him.
** The ''foresight'' spell gives its recipient a limited ability to see the future. This makes them impossible to surprise, and provides other benefits that vary between editions.
** From 3rd Edition's ''Planar Handbook'': On the Ever-Changing Chaos of Limbo, the Monastery of Zerth'Ad'lun teaches githzerai monks a {{Supernatural Martial Art|s}} called "zerthi" that allows seeing the immediate future to anticipate an opponent's moves in combat. Non-githzerai can learn zerthi through the Planar Touchstone feat, although they must first prove their prowess in a barehanded duel against one of the monks, and then abide by their grueling schedule training for a week.
* In ''TabletopGame/EclipsePhase'' the "Predictive Boost" psi-sleight gives a +10 to Fray (dodge) rolls.
* In the {{R|olePlayingGame}}PGs ''TabletopGame/{{GURPS}}'' and ''TabletopGame/{{Champions}}'' the advantage Danger Sense covers this, though usually players don't spend enough points to make it monstrous. Spider-Man, is the inspiration.
* ''TabletopGame/MageTheAwakening'': The four-dot Time spell "Past as Present" is basically this: it lets the mage casting it read the immediate future of all of the spell's subjects, and act to hinder or help them as she pleases.
* ''TabletopGame/{{Pathfinder}}'' began as a mod of D&D, so it has spells and feats representing insight bonuses. The DifficultButAwesome Divination School of spells work this way in combat, granting you huge bonuses to a limited number actions that your character predicts.
** A more offensive version of this trope exists in the form of Temporal Divergence, a transmutation spell that only requires a swift action to cast and that allows its caster to foresee the results of two different spells they can cast during their combat round, then cast either of the two spells at the exact target they chose with the exact same result. Due to the unpredictability of many spells that allow saving throws, this can come in handy.
* In ''TabletopGame/PsionicsTheNextStageInHumanEvolution'', espers who have mastered scrying get a passive bonus to their defense because they can innately sense incoming attacks.
* ''TabletopGame/{{Shadowrun}}'': The spell Combat Sense gives the target extra dice to defense and reaction tests as long as the spellcaster maintains it. There is an Adept power which provides a similar bonus but is permanent.
* ''TabletopGame/ShadowsOverCamelot'': Sir Owain's [[EveryoneHasASpecialMove special power]] is that when he fights a siege engine, he rolls the die to determine its strength ''before'' selecting his Fight cards, rather than after.
* In ''TabletopGame/VampireTheMasquerade'':
** Eyes of Chaos, one of the powers of Dementation, the signature Discipline of [[MadOracle Clan Malkavian]], lets the user gain insight on the true nature of anything.
** [[SuperSenses Auspex]] can let user receive information on events that are about to happen.
* ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000'':
** This is part of the reason that [[OurElvesAreDifferent Eldar]] psykers are effective in close combat. The other reason is the rest of their repertoire of powers usually involve eldritch lightning or psychic flames.
** On a more strategic level, Eldar commanders use this to guide their warhosts to victory. Often, warhost commanders tend to be senior seers or aided by senior seers, who skein the threads of fate to determine what the best course of action is, and then they [[PsychicLink telepathically]] send this information through to lesser seers and warlocks, who function as squad leaders. Because of this, Eldar warhosts move and react to enemy action with an almost uncanny and [[ConfusionFu very confusing]] degree of alacrity.
** Averted for Kairos Fateweaver, Oracle of Tzeench -- he is possibly the greatest seer of the universe but his powers are only useful in long-term Xanatos Roulettes; he is actually blind to the present (one head sees the future and the other the past, and the one that sees the future doesn't see it close enough to notice oncoming attacks) and so physically a pushover by greater demon standards.

[[folder:Video Games]]
* In ''VideoGame/ArxFatalis'', this is the in-universe explanation for SaveScumming in battle [[spoiler:and the main source of the Guardians' power.]]
* In ''VideoGame/CryingSuns'', Nano Drones have a passive ability called Precog Dodge. It prevents adjacent enemy squadrons from attacking them, though they can still be attacked by [[LongRangeFighter Cruisers]] and battleship weapons.
* ''VideoGame/DetroitBecomeHuman'': In some cases, when Connor [a detective android] and Markus [a caretaker android who becomes a revolutionary] are about to fight, they have an instantaneous situation simulation (introduced with Markus's parkour simulations) that have them simulating the choices they have and the outcomes of each individual decisions. Only one sequence will result in success, but often the player will have to figure it out within a time limit.
* ''Franchise/FateSeries'': The ''Fate'' franchise has this codified in several different skills a Servant can possess:
** "Mind's Eye (False)" and "Mind's Eye (True)". Those who possess either skill have the ability to predict an opponent's moves and counter them with such speed that they appear clairvoyant. The difference between the two is that the "False" variant is an inherent trait, something the Servant was born with, while the "True" variant is something the Servant learned over a lifetime of battle experience.
** "Instinct/Intuition" is referred to as the innate ability to always identify "the best possible course of action" in a fight, and at sufficiently high ranks it can even be used to "predict" what actions will best serve the owner in combat. It can even be used to predict the passage of projectiles through the air and counter surprise attacks.
** Gilgamesh has Sha Naqbu Imuru, which gives him all-seeing clairvoyance. Certain factors like the cursed Grail Mud can block it. Other than that, it should theoretically make him unbeatable, but he usually only uses it for mundane purposes like cheating at chess and card games. In battle, he only uses it the first time he meets an opponent to assess what they can do and then turns it off so his fights don't become boring. Even so, his incredible arrogance means that he ignores seeing possibilities where he loses, believing it is impossible for him to lose, and since he doesn't use Sha Naqbu Imuru when he meets opponents again, he can get caught off guard if they managed to improve themselves in some way. This leads to his death against Saber in the Fate route, Shirou Emiya and Archer in the Unlimited Blade Works route, and Sakura Matou and the Shadow in the Heaven's Feel route.
** [[VideoGame/FateGrandOrder Xiang Yu's]] "Future Prediction" is a ramped up version of even the previously mentioned skills because it's explicitly stated to reach beyond simply reading the battle or an opponent's moves and reacting at superhuman speeds to compensate right into the realm of precognition.
* This is the InUniverse explanation for why the PlayerCharacter in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV'' can see where AOE style attacks will hit. The power of the Echo allows them to sense when intense pain or death is imminent, giving them a few seconds to avoid the danger. [[spoiler:Fordola gains this power after she's given an artifical version of the Echo by Garlean scientists.]]
* ''VideoGame/GodOfWarRagnarok'' has Heimdall, the God of Foresight, and he uses his godly power to avoid any upcoming attack on him with a [[NonchalantDodge nonchalant dodge or block]]. The first fight against him is [[HopelessBossFight completely hopeless]] as a result, and a decent chunk of the game is spent finding a way to actually hit him. [[spoiler:Kratos does obtain the Draupnir Spear for this purpose, and realizes that while Heimdall can see into the future to assess ''how'' to move, he's still limited by his ability to physically react, and is generally [[ArrogantKungFuGuy too smug]] to bother keeping a safe distance. It quickly becomes a matter of Kratos [[AwesomenessByAnalysis reading Heimdall's patterns and overwhelming him to the point he can't keep up]], and once Kratos manages to land a single blow on Heimdall, [[BlindedByRage he quickly loses his cool]], becoming [[TurnsRed much more aggressive]] but also much sloppier with his use of foresight.]]
* The protagonist of ''VideoGame/KatanaZero'' is a killer armed only with a katana who takes a FantasticDrug that severely alters his perception of time. The gameplay consists of him conceptualizing his plan of attack before actually striking, with every death being a failed plan. Upon finishing a section, you're treated to security footage of your actions in real-time.
* ''VideoGame/LostDimension'': One of Sho's special abilities allows him to preemptively counter and prevent an incoming attack (even attacks that can't otherwise be countered).
* Psycho Mantis from ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid'' does this by using his psychic powers [[NoFourthWall to read and react to the player's controller input]]. Plugging the controller on the second player slot denies him this ability.
* The ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' move ''Mind Reader'' works like this, at least in flavor: The user predicts the opponent's actions, ensuring that its next attack lands without fail.
* ''VideoGame/PrayerOfTheFaithless'': As [[https://rpgmaker.net/games/7969/Characters/ her character description]], says, that's one use of Serra's powers. In practice, Serra's Oracle skills buff the party to dodge better, land more criticals, and have a guaranteed chance of reflecting an attack.
--> when it's time to fight, Serra stays close to Reyson and uses her powers as an Oracle to predict the future, providing him with her Burst Drives.
* The rewind ability in the ''Franchise/PrinceOfPersia'' series lets the titular prince know what an opponent is going to do next, and react accordingly.
* The [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Vyrewatch]] in ''VideoGame/RuneScape'' have the ability to predict what move an opponent will make with a normal weapon. This allows them to dodge all attacks, making them immune to all weapons, except the one you make during the quest they're introduced in. Why? The weapon is a silver sickle, on the end of a chain attached to the top of a staff - intentionally made so that its movements are so random, the Vyrewatch can't read your mind to see where's it's going, because there's no way the wielder could ''possibly'' predict it exactly.
* In ''VideoGame/ShuyanSaga'', one of Master Shan's students, Guo, can see into a second or two into the future while fighting. (He claims it's "not that great", but doesn't elaborate.)
* In ''[[VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic]]'' (particularly [[VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublicIITheSithLords the sequel]]), this is a much-revered ability among the [[ProudWarriorRace Echani]]. A short-term version is a fairly normal exercise for Jedi (who use their PsychicPowers to see the future) and Echani fighters ([[AwesomenessByAnalysis who don't]]), but the most legendary examples of the art can see events unfolding weeks or months in advance. A novice might plan the next couple of blows, a veteran might plan a whole battle -- but [[MemeticBadass Revan]] can plot an entire campaign.
* An interesting variation of this exists in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'' with the Fairlions. Both machines are outfitted with the W^3.I.N.K. system, which, when activated, combines Princess Shine's future-predicting powers with Latooni's piloting skills, allowing both machines to fight off any opponent with ease.
* ''VideoGame/SwordOfPaladin'': In the postgame, completing the hostess minigame with Lena will allow Nade to learn Prediction, which causes the enemies' next actions to be displayed. However, this only works in the regular battle system to prevent players from trivializing duels.
* In ''VideoGame/TalesFromTheBorderlands'', Fiona eventually gains the ability to visualize potential future moves during a fight as her version of a Vault Hunter-style Action Skill, which helps her make quick decisions under the heat of the moment.
* ''VideoGame/TitanQuest'': The ''Immortal Throne'' DownloadableContent's Dream Mastery's Premonition passive helps in combat:
--> A precognitive sense of the imminent future allows you to stay one step ahead of your enemies in combat.
* ''Franchise/TouhouProject'' fifteenth main game, ''Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom'':
** It's used to justify the existence of checkpoints in [=PointDevice=] mode: your characters took a medicine that lets them see into the future, and as such aren't dying and retrying, but simply finding a possible future that doesn't result in them dying. However, you can choose to not take the medicine by selecting the Legacy Mode (the signature classic mode).
** In one of Sanae's endings, [[spoiler:it is noted that taking the aforementioned medicine would have been deadly to a native god like Suwako, and if Sanae used it, nothing deadly would've happen, but her impurities would be washed away, leaving her a "pure human" as a result.]]
* Lambda of ''VideoGame/WildArms4'' has the Blue Destiny ability, which lets him calculate the future and allows him to completely avoid the attacks of anyone in his sight most of the time, even if the attack is normally unavoidable.
* ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles'':
** ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1'':
*** Shulk gets the ability to see glimpses of the future after taking hold of [[LegendaryWeapon the Monado]], allowing him to ScrewDestiny on a regular basis. Due to GameplayAndStoryIntegration, the party can get visions of would-be lethal attacks in battle, allowing the chance to find a way to make the attack less deadly (protect them via StatusBuff, have another take the hit, etc), delay the attack, or even shattering the future outright by quickly dispatching the enemy. In his appearance in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'', this translates as a CounterAttack ability.
*** The Telethia possess the ability to read minds, and use this to not only make sure their attacks are always accurate, but to perfectly dodge anything headed their way. This trumps even Shulk's future sight: the first time he encounters them, he foresees their attacks and moves to dodge, but at the last second they alter their aim and hit him anyway. Fortunately, Shulk quickly learns that the Monado has another power that can turn off the Telethia's mind reading powers.
** ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2'': Mythra has a power called Foresight, which lets her and her driver see a few seconds into the future. It renders them basically invincible in a fight; the only story reasons she ever loses is when it is literally impossible for her to win (such as [[SuperSpeed when her opponent is moving at the speed of light]]). In gameplay, this manifests as a hefty bonus to both accuracy and dodge for the whole team when she's at full affinity. [[spoiler:Since the game takes place in the same multiverse as the first ''Xenoblade'', it's implied that this is the same power that Shulk uses with the Monado, and that the Monado is the third Aegis, Ontos, lost in a dimensional rift long ago]]. In her appearance in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'', this manifests as an attribute of her dodging abilities: performing a dodge just as an opponent's attack would hit grants her a moment's invulnerability while slowing down her opponent during that same instant.

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* The divination spell Foresight in ''VisualNovel/TyrionCuthbertAttorneyOfTheArcane'' allows the user to see a few seconds into the future. [[spoiler:Wasn't of much use to Sibyl in her fight against Aria because, while she did foresee that Aria would attack her and thus protected herself with Stone Skin, she couldn't prevent Aria from paralyzing her with Hold Creature and throwing her into the lake.]]

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* ''WebAnimation/FlipnoteWarrior'': "Drawing Sense" is explained as an ability to predict and dodge attacks.
* In ''WebAnimation/GenLock'', Nemesis proves to be able to anticipate the other Holons' attacks before they can make them and easily counter. This is due to a form of {{Telepathy}} as [[spoiler:Nemesis is the original version of Chase, connected to the same mindshare space as the other [=gen:LOCK=] members. Since Mindshare is designed to make sharing thoughts and feelings between [=gen:LOCK=] compatible members easy, Nemesis knows just what they're thinking before they act. The heros eventually counter his mind reading by linking minds with each other, bluring their thoughts together in a way Nemesis can't clearly read.]]
-->'''Nemesis:''' [[ElectronicSpeechImpediment Y-y-you think too l-l-loud.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Webcomics]]
* In ''Webcomic/{{Erfworld}}'', Book Zero shows a little bit of this, in the form of Delphie Temple. Normally, Delphie is an annoying [[PsychicPowers Predictamancer]], but in a fight, she instantly [[TookALevelInBadass takes a level in badass.]]
-->It amounted to the caster using her juice to see things happen a second or two ahead, so that she could aim where the enemy would be, and to move where the enemy's return blows and arrows would not land. Most importantly to this plan, a Predictamancer could know whether or not a shot or blow she was about to initiate would be a hit. If it wouldn't, then she simply did not take the shot.
* ''Webcomic/AGirlAndHerFed'': The Girl has some degree of precognitive clairvoyance, making her surprisingly dangerous in a fight. This doesn't help ''all'' the time, but it lets her survive things that she otherwise shouldn't be able to, and makes her incredibly difficult to beat in a martial arts contest. It's implied that Mike has the same ability, and it might be commonplace amongst the regular psychics.
* ''Webcomic/{{Goblins}}'': Thaco gains a blindfold that, while worn, shows attacks before they happen.
* ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'': Garou runs into King and moves in to attack after "seeing" all the ways he might dodge or counterattack. Two things go wrong for Garou: King [[spoiler:is a FakeUltimateHero with no combat ability]] so he just sits there, and [[spoiler:he was accompanied by Saitama]], who reflexively punts Garou away so fast Garou doesn't even see him coming.
* ''Webcomic/ScoobAndShag'': Of a sort. "Cue Card", Five's Ballyhoo power, doesn't let her see into the future ''per se'', but it does tell her precisely what to do in order to respond to the next attack that will come her way -- for example, instead of knowing that the next attack will be a sweeping kick, she knows that she will need to jump.
* ''Webcomic/UnOrdinary'': Juni's "Flash Forward" ability lets her see what the outcome of an action would be for a brief bit forward in time, letting her know what her best option would be in a fight. Against a strong enough opponent it's not much use, since if all her options she can flash foward to end in her getting beaten down she's got nothing to fall back on, but it does help her in most fights.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Original]]
* The eponymous hero from ''Literature/{{Curveball}}'' can't consciously see into the future, but when he's fighting, he just ''knows'' where the enemies are and what to do about them.
* Jo Donner has this power in the ''Literature/WhateleyUniverse'', and she's at Whateley Academy learning how to use it better.
** The supervillain Deathlist has a predictive algorithm in his PoweredArmor which grants him an edge against virtually any hero he's bothered to look up, using stochastic trends to put him on equal footing with Lady Astarte -- right up until the Three Little Witches manage to [[SpannerInTheWorks accidentally bollix it.]]
* In ''Literature/{{Worm}}'', the [[GadgeteerGenius tinker]] superhero Armsmaster has a heads-up display in his helmet that includes a combat style simulator which -- when provided with sufficient video documentation of an opponents fighting style -- grants him this.
** [[spoiler:Contessa, enforcer for Cauldron]] plays this a little straighter, by seeing "the path to victory" and following it to completion. Her power tells her a series of moves she can make to achieve whatever result she's aiming for, and she is able to see all of the steps ahead of time. She can use this in combat by seeing the path of how to defeat her opponent, showing her the exact set of movements she needs to make to dodge every attack and hit every weak point at the most effective times. It's effective enough she describes her power simply as "I win".
** The Number Man's power is a variation: [[spoiler:instead of ''knowing'' what's going to happen, he can use his innate grasp of mathematics to ''calculate'' the region where the next attack will likely come from. This means all he has to do is be not there. ''Every time.'' It's so effective that he can fight through a swarm of hostile bugs without getting bitten. However, it is ineffective against Jack Slash, because Jack can attack in so many different possible ways that it is impossible to dodge them all.]]
** Jack Slash is eventually revealed to possess this, [[spoiler:as his shard can detect other shards' incoming powers, subconsciously warning him about them ahead of time or communicating with those shards to subtly sabotage the powers they're sending at him. It's so subtle that even Jack isn't aware that he has it (he thinks he just has quick reflexes and/or good luck), and the heroes remain in the dark about it until Golem sees him dodge an attack a little ''too'' quickly, one that there was no possible way he could have seen it coming.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* Francis Grey from ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'' does this by way of rewinding time. Though it's subverted, when he tries to use it on Batman in a direct fight, only to fail 'three times' due to Batman feeling a sense of 'deja vu' which he now knows means time has been reset.
* ''WesternAnimation/BigHero6TheSeries'': Noodle Burger Boy can predict every move his opponents make before they make it due to being programmed with an algorithm intended to help him predict what repeat Noodle Burger customers wanted before the BigBad corrupted him.
* ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueAction'': Chronos uses his time based technology to see one second into the future to predict Batman's moves. Batman beats him with a smoke bomb. Being able to see the future is useless if you can't actually ''see'' anything.
* ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'': This is one of the two powers of the villain "Party Crasher". He sees the world as one giant dance floor-like grid, and he can anticipate the most likely moves of anyone, allowing him to strike them with his other power, the disco balls on his hands that can seal anyone or anything onto an empty square.
* ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'': Both [[Characters/RickAndMortyRickSanchez Rick Sanchez]] and [[Characters/RickAndMortyMortySmith Morty Smith]] display this using Death Crystals in the episode "[[Recap/RickAndMortyS4E1EdgeOfTomortyRickDieRickpeat Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat]]". Death Crystals give whoever holds them a vision of not just their death, but ''multiple possible ways that they could die''. Rick uses them in a shoot-out, to know when coming out of his cover results in certain death, or when the death becomes uncertain, meaning the bandits he's up against are reloading. Once Morty grabs hold of a Death Crystal, his intense focus on a particular death of old age guides him through finding the passcode to Rick's arsenal, a fight with some bullies, a fight with the cops and the military after slaughtering the bullies using Rick's weapons, finding the right words to convince a judge to give him a Not Guilty verdict on his murder trial, [[BrownNote and finding the right collection of noises to make everyone forgive him.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012'' villain Victor Falco exposes himself to a small amount of [[MutagenicGoo mutagen]] and gets the power to read his enemies' minds. The only way that Donnie can defeat him is to learn Mikey's signature "Fighting without Thinking" technique.
* Demonstrated in ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown'' as one use for the Crystal Glasses, a Shen-Gong-Wu that let the user see the future. Master Fung uses it to beat all the Monks except Raimundo, who promptly decides it's not worth trying ("I knew you would say that").
