[[JustForFun/DescribeTopicHere blah blah blah trope description blah blah blah]]

This trope occurs when someone is listening to someone talk and all they can hear is "blah, blah, blah". Usually used for comedic effect, it indicates that the auditor finds the conversation irrelevant, incomprehensible, or boring. Or all of the above.

Sometimes the trope is invoked literally: "Sorry doc, but all I heard of what you said was blah blah liver failure blah blah." Occasionally, this is represented visually from one character's point of view as a stream of words that all flow together. If one character is mocking another for being boring or predictable, they may repeat part of what they said and trail off into "blah blah blah" while performing impromptu BareHandedPuppetry. Common variations include "yadda yadda" and "something something."

The irate versions can verge on CensoredForComedy. The overanalysed may be TropeName. In some cases, it's {{Technobabble}}. If it is done by a teacher, the students may fall AsleepInClass.

An older phrase of similar usage from British television is Rhubarb Rhubarb (or, rarely, Rabbit Rabbit). See also AudienceMurmurs. May combine with WallOfBlather.

[[folder:blah blah blah Advertising blah blah blah]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MySQXlpVciQ Two]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egfsghBi0zw particular]] instances, in that the ''blah''s are replaced with names of [[TestosteronePoisoning stereotypically male-oriented activities]].
* A late 1980s/early 1990s UK campaign for Red Rock Cider paid homage to ''Series/PoliceSquad''[=/=]''Film/TheNakedGun'' with a series of adverts in the same rapid fire, sight gag and wordplay-laden style as said series, featuring Creator/LeslieNielsen reprising his role as Frank Drebin. In one advert, an airport public address system announces, with perfect enunciation, "Mumble mumble mumble. Thank you."
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utL2xF45Xao 2000 "Nick Takes Over Your School Sweepstakes" commercial]] begins with black-and-white footage of a stereotypical "boring" classroom where a teacher makes "blah blah blah" sounds, done in the style of the unseen teachers' "wah wah wah" sounds in many ''WesternAnimation/{{Peanuts}}'' cartoons.
* All Detergent brought Charlie Brown
* There is a car insurance commercial where a woman is talking about extra long disclaimers on paper. She says "You think it says 'You're covered' Right? No, it actually says 'Blah blah blah, blah, blah blah blah'..."
* A 2004 Kia commercial features a family being lectured by a salesman on the features of a Sedona. The parents hear everything he says, while their kid only hears blahs...except his mention of a free ''WesternAnimation/{{Shrek 2}}'' DVD with test drive.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Anime & Manga blah blah blah]]
* ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'': For a conversation in English, which [[TranslationConvention we aren't supposed to understand]]. One of the funniest scenes.
* ''WebComic/HetaliaAxisPowers'': A Drama CD has America use this trope to explain what happened to him that made him upset, apparently to save time. England and France understand it perfectly, but Russia doesn't and England has to translate.
* ''Manga/KaguyaSamaLoveIsWar'':
** A narrative sequence describing Miyuki Shirogane's tendency to get on his sister Kei's nerves by being domineering had his nagging represented by him actually saying "Blah blah blah", "Nag nag nag", and the like.
** During the [[ForeignExchangeStudent French exchange student]] welcoming party[[note]]manga chapter 20; anime season 1, episode 4[[/note]], Shirogane's comprehension of French is far behind that of most of the other students in the room, and the manga occasionally renders his lack of understanding of their language from his perspective as strings of random shapes. This is turned around on Betsy, whose [[ForeignCussWord withering French insults]] don't break him, but [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend Kaguya]], who ''does'' speak French, counters with a [[WallOfText long-winded barrage of insults of her own]] that leave Betsy a gibbering wreck (some of which were deemed [[CensoredForComedy too extreme for publication]]).
* In the Western (as in, with cowboys) manga ''Manga/{{Miriam}}'', an arrogant sheriff's boasting eventually fades into blah blahs before Douglas, the protagonist, ditches him. The same thing happens again later, though this time he's speechifying to the other two protagonists, Card and Joel, about how honest he is (despite the obvious corruption of the law in town). After he leaves, Card says "Now I understand why Douglas couldn't stand talking with him..."
* ''Anime/{{Pecola}}'': In the episode "Pecola's Island", when the townsfolk go to see Officer Kumada coming to shore on a boat serving as the prize for the fishing competition, they ignore Mayor Papazoni's speech, which is rendered as him repeating "blah blah blah".
* In ''Manga/Persona3'', when Ryoji receives calls from girls whilst playing a mole-whacking game, his conversation with them is summarized as above. Note that he's still slamming the mallet down like a merciless person.
* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'':
** In ''Battle Dimension'', we got a Bidoof making a heartwarming "we must fight" speech to the rest of the Bidoof. Unfortunately, the PokemonSpeak made it sound like this:
--->'''Bidoof 1:''' Bidoof, bidoof bidoof bidoofbi bi bi doof!\
'''Bidoof 2:''' Bidoof bidoof bidoof doof doof bi!!!\
'''Bidoof 1:''' BIDOOF!!!\
'''Bidoof 2:''' Bidoof?!
** ''Anime/Pokemon2000'' soundtrack also contained a song actually called "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVo11y8AgNA Blah Blah Blah]]".
* ''Manga/SayonaraZetsubouSensei'' has an instance which is likely a parody of the ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'' example. Kaere, who pretends to know English, is asked to talk to an English-speaking foreigner. She goes up to him and like Yukari, starts saying "Pera pera." He then gives her a puzzled look and says in heavily accented but perfect Japanese, "That girl's English is terrible." In this case, it seems like the pera pera was what the character was ''literally'' saying.
* In the dub of ''Manga/SgtFrog'', in the New Year's episode, Giroro mocks Keroro's goal for the new year: "Gundam, blah blah blah, Gundam Gundam."
* ''Manga/SpyXFamily'': Used when Anya is explaining her assignment to her father, since she's [[InformedConversation already had this conversation one scene ago]] with her mother.
* ''Manga/YandereKanojo'': Some characters can use the phrase, "Yada yada blah blah," as ''information-conveying dialogue''.
* ''Anime/YuGiOh'': The actual dub has its own example:
-->'''Yami:''' Kaiba, this fight is about so much more than a mere championship dueling title. Don't you see? People are getting hurt and the whole world's in danger!\
'''Kaiba:''' Mm. Blah-blah-blah. Don't you get tired of making the same speech every time you're faced with a challenge? Stop saving the world and get a hobby!
* ''Manga/YuriIsMyJob'': An extra chapter has Mai try to explain the "schwester" system in the salon she runs to Haruko Shinooka, a new hire at the salon. Mai's explanation devolves into "blah blah blah," and by the end of it, it's clear that Haruko hasn't understood a word that Mai has said.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Comic Books blah blah blah]]
* In ''ComicBook/YTheLastMan'', one of 355's flashbacks has two obnoxious-looking guys in the background whose conversation consists mostly of this..until the N-word is mentioned. [[spoiler: She beats them up with a baseball bat offscreen. Don't mess with 355.]]
* In ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics'', Sonic once fell asleep while listening to one of Sally's speeches--his falling asleep was represented by her speech slowly degenerating into "Blah blah blah blah..."
* When [[ComicBook/TheIncredibleHercules Hercules]] is asked what his compatriot (and TeenGenius) Amadeus Cho would do when faced with a brain-teaser, Herc [[ImagineSpot imagines]] Cho going "Blah blah numbers blah blah math blah blah blah science."
* In ''Babymouse Burns Rubber'', a Franchise/StarWars-esque narrative scroll relates the story thus far, eventually turning into "blah blah blah are you really still reading this?"
* Occurs in [[http://www.jhuger.com/tract/tyd/ Jhuger's]] parody of ''ComicBook/ChickTracts''. "And the Lord Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Amen!"
* A scene in Creator/GarthEnnis' ''ComicBook/ThePunisher: War Zone'' mini-series not only does this, but also provides a variant that achieves the same effect: Molly secretly listens to a group of {{Mooks}} talking and some of the word balloons literally say "Stuff wiseguys talk about" and "Stupid, cowardly, easily convinced wiseguys".
* In one ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'' comic, Peter, MJ and Carlie are talking, with Peter and Carlie's {{Technobabble}} represented as "But that would mean [Stuff MJ doesn't understand]". Eventually MJ excuses herself by saying "I have a photoshoot with [Fashion celebrity Peter and Carlie have never heard of]."
* One ''Comicbook/GastonLagaffe'' comic uses this for Gaston and Jules discussing in the background, as random people drop money in a parking meter. [[spoiler:It's actually a novelty piggy bank made by Gaston for a friend's kid, and it gets him arrested for unwittingly conning people]].
* In ''[[ComicBook/MarvelTwoInOne Marvel 2-in-One]]'' #12 (2018), ComicBook/MisterFantastic is explaining something to ComicBook/TheThing, but all the latter hears is:
--> --so the new question was: is the inhabitation mutualistic, commensalistic or '''''parasitic?''''' Perhaps the blah and the whatever with the thingabob and the whatsacallit beep bop sciencey science I love science and ''uh'', Ben? Ben? Did you hear '''''any''''' of that?
* PlayedWith in ''many'' ''[[ComicBook/MortadeloYFilemon Mort & Phil]]'' stories. Practically any time a newspaper page is shown in detail (most times, to explain the mess that led to the main characters either [[RunningGag go on hiding]] [[EveryEpisodeEnding or being in the middle]] [[SternChase of a persecution]]) instead of showing the whole article or having the panel's border cut the text, the article just ends a phrase with an "and blah, blah, blah....".
* ''ComicBook/TheSandmanEndlessNights'': Delight is not exactly enthused at attending the parliament:
-->'''Delight:''' You know what they will be saying? Blah blah blah blah. That's what they are going to say. Blah blah blah.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Comic Strips blah blah blah]]
* ''ComicStrip/TheFarSide'':
** With a dog translating machine. The translations? Strings of "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!"
** ''Robotman'' also did a similar one, with the dog's barking translated as "Fleas, fleas, tail, fleas..." and the cat's meows as "Ball, ball, chase ball, tuna..."
** Another pair of strips show how a dog named Ginger hears her owner ("blah blah Ginger blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Ginger blah blah blah blah blah...") and how a {{cat|sAreSuperior}} named Fluffy hears hers ("____________________________________").
* Inverted in one ''ComicStrip/FoxTrot'' comic, which has Paige complaining that the day has been boring, and it's just been one "blah" event after another. Cue Peter walking up to hear her actually say "blah blah blah" out of the legitimate context Paige had been using.
** This strip was possibly Amend lampshading, as early strips involved Paige's phone conversations literally written as "Blah blah blah blah blah".
* ''{{ComicStrip/Garfield}}'' typically portrays Jon this way and in one case when Garfield was stuck listening to him, Garfield ended up hallucinating Jon in various appearances and forms [[TheBore out of sheer boredom]].
* From a ''ComicStrip/StoneSoup'' strip:
-->'''Evie''': Everything ok at home, Val?\
'''Val''': We're fine. Weather's nice... the girls can't wait for summer... Phil and I are seeing more of each other... blah blah blah...\
'''Evie''': "Blah blah blah"?? [[SexualEuphemism I haven't heard that euphemism in quite a while]].\
'''Val''': I haven't ''needed'' that euphemism in quite a while.
* ComicStrip/{{Dilbert}} once went on a date with a [[http://dilbert.com/strips/comic/1993-04-18/ serial yakker]]. "Yak yak yak blah blah yak yak yak yak blah blah..."
* In ''ComicStrip/PricklyCity'', Winslow at a press conference -- in a WallOfBlather as well.
* ''ComicStrip/CitizenDog'' had Cuddles opining endlessly about the beauty of the winter scene before him. As he is doing this, Fergus writes "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH..." in the window condensation.
* Shows up in a few ''ComicStrip/PearlsBeforeSwine'' comics when Rat tunes people out. One example is when a coffee shop customer places an OvercomplicatedMenuOrder.
-->'''Customer:''' Hi, uh...I'll have, uh...one large nonfat no foam double caramel decaf latte to go.\
'''Rat:''' I heard "Blah, blah, blah, coffee."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Fan Works blah blah blah]]
* Haruhi in ''Fanfic/KyonBigDamnHero'', when Kyon and Asakura are talking about the time when she tried to kill him.
-->'''Haruhi:''' Blah blah blah, Skip the speeches - if I don't know the complete back story, it's all meaningless to me.
* Used in Calvin's tirade against the WeWillMeetAgain trope in ''Fanfic/CalvinAndHobbesTheSeries''.
** Another instance is {{justified|Trope}}:
--> '''Andy:''' Dear Andy, thank you for purchasing my test, blah blah blah… That's what it says. "Thank you for purchasing my test, blah, blah, blah".
* Leo in ''Fanfic/TheJacksonLegacy'', to express his point about prophecies to Iamus. Also the Fanfic page's quote.
--> '''Leo:''' Prophecies, blah-blah-blah, fate of the world lies in one child, yeah, we get those ''a lot''.
* {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d in the first line of ''Fanfic/RealityIsFluid'' when FirstPersonSmartass Eleya is only half-listening to a politician speechifying.
--> "'This project ushers in a new era of cooperation between Cardassia and Bajor. We are healing the wounds of the Occupation and the Dominion War, blah blah blah.' Okay, that last part was me."
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10203993/5/The-perfect-bond The Perfect Bond]]'':
-->'''Snape''': Surely after seeing my memory you know why I could not reveal my true feelings.\
'''Harry''': I know, a Death Eater pretending to be a spy, blah, blah, blah.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11082355/12/Don-t-Judge-a-Master-by-Its-Death Don't Judge a Master By Its Death]]'':
-->'''Death:''' I do hope you grow to become more familiar with my presence in your life; after all, I do have aeons of knowledge that are at your beck and call.\
'''Harry:''' Yes, Death, ''blah blah'' Master of Death ''blah blah'' … I get it.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8233288/49/Faery-Heroes Faery Heroes]]'':
-->'''Dumbledore:''' Harry, listen to me. Voldemort left pieces of--\
'''Harry:''' Pieces of his soul scattered about Britain, six of them in total, blah blah blah.
* ''[[http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-18513/DragonKitty+A+Wizard+s+Slayer.htm A Wizard's Slayer]]'':
-->'''Dominic Wood:''' Miss Rid...Summers. I don’t think you quite understand-\
'''Buffy:''' I understand okay! One girl in all the world, yadda yadda yadda. Strength and skill, blah blah blah. I get it. And...I just need to think.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10688667/2/After-the-Chamber-Lords-and-Ladies After the Chamber - Lords and Ladies]]'':
-->'''Harry:''' The memory of Riddle came out of the diary to confront me and pretty much followed his older self's suit in taunting me: blah, blah, blah, 'your mother was a Mudblood', blah, blah, blah, 'you stand no chance against me Potter', blah, blah, blah, 'I opened the Chamber and framed Hagrid.'
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12380647/5/Loki-s-Family Loki's Family]]'':
-->'''Hired thug:''' Enough of this! Do you really think you can keep us from the boy? Even if you manage to get away today, we know to look for you to find him. It will only be a matter of time before he is ours.\
'''Darcy:''' All I heard of that was, blah blah blah I'm a huge dick blah blah blah, and I so don't know when to give up.
* In ''Fanfic/FateGenesis'', whenever [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Tails]] tries to explain to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Rin]] how his inventions work, this is what the HopelessWithTech mage hears.
* In one of the art images for ''Fanfic/EmpathTheLuckiestSmurf'', Baby Smurf mocks Brainy's constant lecturing with this while he wears Brainy's glasses... with Brainy right in front of him watching!
* In the 3rd panel of page 41 of ''Webcomic/TheHeartOfAMonster'', Shadow hears Sonic's speech devolve into this as he stops paying attention to Sonic
* On page 23 of ''Webcomic/ShadamyComic'', Shadow ignores Amy's complaining and only hears a bunch of "blah"'s.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13388022/2/Albus-and-Harry-s-World-Trip Albus and Harry's World Trip]]'':
-->'''Dumbledore:''' Good morning Harry. How are you feeling this morning?\
'''Harry:''' Much better. Though, it was odd dealing with your... what do you call that thing you used to answer me while you were asleep?\
'''Dumbledore:''' It's the magical equivalent of a non-magical answering service. I invented it a while back so that I could get some rest in the repetitive meetings one must attend as a Headmaster. It's set up to respond based on what people say. If they say something that can't be handled automatically, it sends a jolt that wakes me up so I can respond appropriately. Pleasantly, since your arrival at Hogwarts, I have rarely needed to be awake for a meeting with Severus, as it is always 'Potter blah blah Gryffindor blah blah Potter blah blah Potter'. Hmmm. With your departure, I wonder what he will find to fill his conversational void.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12895795/1/You-Make-My-Temperature-Rise You Make My Temperature Rise]]'':
-->'''Ron:''' The Minister's Speech is next week.\
'''Harry:''' It'll be the same as any other speech. The world is doing well, blah blah, he wishes everyone good health and prosperity for the new year, blah blah. I don't need to be there for that.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13315211/2/Double-Back Double Back]]'':
-->'''Harry:''' I request all current keys locked out, and a new vault secured only to our blood, so only those with Potter blood can enter them.\
'''Goblin:''' If your blood is that of the Potter line, it will be done. If not...\
'''Harry:''' If not then our heads will hang as trophies, our blood will wet your blades... yadda yadda yadda.
* At the wedding in ''Fanfic/BeyondHeroes: Of Sunshine and Red Lyrium'', this is what the groom hears the officiant saying.
-->Marriage was the holy gift of [[Franchise/DragonAge the Maker and His Bride]], blah blah blah, et cetera, et cetera. Almost abruptly, however, Mother Cressida was addressing him. “Will you speak your vow, messere?”
* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14098387/2/Immaculate Immaculate]]'' one of the Aurors actually ''writes'' "blah blah blah" in the middle of his reports to test whether people are paying attention.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Films -- Animation blah blah blah]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/CloudyWithAChanceOfMeatballs'', the Mayor responds to Flint's explanation about why the food is getting bigger (and potentially dangerous) with, "Here's what I heard: blah blah blah, science science science BIGGER."
* In ''WesternAnimation/FindingNemo'', a school of fish (voiced by John Ratzenberger), thinking that Marlin was harassing Dory, talks over his requests for directions to Australia; "Blah blah blah, me me blah. Blah blah blah blah me me me." When Dory speaks up for Marlin and explains that he's trying to find his son Nemo, the fish are more willing to help him.
* From ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles1'':
-->'''Edna (to Helen):''' Yes, words are useless! Gobble gobble gobble gobble gobble. There's too much of it, darling, too much!
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheLegoMovie'', this is how Emmet hears Wyldstyle's InfoDump when he gets DistractedByTheSexy.
-->'''Wyldstyle:''' Blah blah blah blah, proper name. Place name, backstory stuff. I'm so pretty! And I like you, but I'm angry at you for some reason.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Madagascar}}'': Done by King Julien while banishing Alex to the "fossa side" of the island.
-->'''King Julien:''' By the power vested in me by the Law of the Jungle, blah-blah-blah-blah-blah, BEGONE!
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirlsMovie'': One monkey in Mojo's army literally calls himself "Blah-blah Blah-blah", while throwing in additions blahs as he builds a tomato tornado.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Films -- Live-Action blah blah blah]]
* In ''Film/SpeedRacer'', young Speed found his schoolwork turning into blah-blah-blah because it wasn't talking about car racing.
* In the ''Film/ErnestPWorrell'' film ''Ernest Goes to School'', Ernest becomes much smarter after undergoing a magical intelligence upgrade, but his newfound intellectualism makes his simple classes so boring to him that the lectures all come across as "blah blah blah blah blah."
* In ''Film/TrueLies'', when Harry is translating the BigBad's [[JustBetweenYouAndMe villain speech]] for Helen, he starts giving it as, "We shall triumph over the evil Americans, blah blah blah," as if to imply he's heard it all before. Turns out [[BilingualBonus that's pretty much]] [[http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2007/04/19/2182810.aspx a direct translation.]]
* ''Film/MrDeeds'' features a woman responding to Winona Ryder's heartfelt apology after her HeelRealization with "All I heard was blah blah blah, I'm a dirty tramp!"
* In TheMovie of ''Theatre/NineMusical'', Guido's wife, tired of listening to his lies, interrupts him with "Blah blah blah blah blah."
* In Franco Zefirelli's 1968 film of ''Film/{{Romeo and Juliet|1968}}'', Act 3, Scene 1 starts with Mercutio saying "Blah blah blah''. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ0kOi6qqHY]]
* In the Creator/LennyBruce biopic ''Film/{{Lenny}}'' there is a sequence in which Lenny (Creator/DustinHoffman) talks about oral sex[[note]]The previous scene was him getting busted for using the word ''cocksucking'' in a bit where he was addressing a controversy over gay schoolteachers.[[/note]] to an audience and even police officers. Due to the heavy censorship issues at the time, he told the audience that all profane words would be replaced by "blah-blah". He then continues:
--> "Excuse me sir, have you ever had your blah-blahed? Is that your girlfriend? Has she ever blahed your blah?"
** He then tells everyone that the show is over, apologizes for it and promises to be funny next time.
* In ''Film/DeathBecomesHer'', Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp attend Dr. Menville's funeral and start to leave when they hear the priest giving the eulogy speaking of the deceased who discovered true immortality through making himself a legend in his work and as a man who will live forever. They simply respond with "blah blah blah".
* ''Film/PulpFiction'': Honey Bunny (also known as Yolanda) and Pumpkin talk about quitting robbing at the diner.
-->'''Honey Bunny''': When you go on like this, you know what you sound like?\
'''Pumpkin''': I sound like a sensible fucking man, is what I sound like.\
'''Honey Bunny''': [very affectionately] You sound like a duck. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack...
* ''Film/TheKingsSpeech''. While rehearsing the Coronation speech with the future King, speech therapist Lionel Logue condenses the Archbishop's words down to "rubbish, rubbish, rubbish..."
* ''Film/BatmanVSupermanDawnOfJustice''. When called on to give a speech at his society fundraiser, Lex Luthor jokingly starts with "Blah blah blah, open bar, The End." Thanks to a vaguely defined mental disorder, his actual speech is no less disorganised.
* Used in ''Film/BrokenArrow1996'' when Secretary of Defense Baird reads aloud a prepared statement that covers up the truth about the crash of a B-3 stealth bomber carrying live nukes.
--> '''Baird:''' The United States Air Force regrets to announce that early this morning a C-141 heavy-lift cargo plane went down over the Utah desert. The status of the crew has yet to be determined, yadda yadda yadda ... Well, that's very nice bullshit, Rick.\
'''Rick:''' Thank you, sir.\
'''Baird:''' We'll go with that.

[[folder:blah blah blah Literature blah blah blah]]
* Creator/DaveBarry, after writing a column complaining about Neil Diamond's songs, in particular a PainfulRhyme in "I Am, I Said," received a great deal of hate mail from irate Neil Diamond fans, which he condensed into this all-purpose letter incorporating most of what they were fuming about:
-->Dear Pukenose:\
Just who the hell do you think you are to blah blah a great artist like Neil blah more than twenty gold records blah blah [[LetsSeeYOUDoBetter how many gold records do YOU have]], you scumsucking wad of blah I personally have attended 1,794 of Neil's concerts blah blah What about "Love on the Rocks," huh? What about "Cracklin' Rosie"? blah blah If you had ONE TENTH of the talent blah blah so I listened to "Heart Light" forty times in a row and the next day the cyst was GONE and the doctor said he had never seen such a rapid blah blah What about "Play Me"? What about "Song Sung Blah"? Cancel my subscription, if I have one.
* Creator/RobertSheckley's story "Can We Have a Little Talk?" is about a space explorer whose specialty is linguistics; he happens to land on a planet of beings whose language constantly changes, until they end up saying "Mun" in a variety of tones, conveyed by punctuation and interspersed with comments in whatever language you happen to read it in.
* According to George and Harold's comic books in the ''Literature/CaptainUnderpants'' series, their principal, Mr. Krupp, is only capable of saying "Blah blah blah" and "Bwahahaha".
* From ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles'': After Harry uses this trope, he gets called on it by his friend [[ChurchMilitant Michael]]: "Don't ''Yadda Yadda'' [[{{God}} the Lord]], Harry."
* In the ''Literature/{{Cryptonomicon}}'', Waterhouse tries (and fails) to explain how his digital computer works to a much less technically savvy character:
--> "Dr. Turing, of Cambridge University, has pointed out that bobbadah bobbadah hoe daddy yanga langa furjeezama bing jingle oh yeah," Waterhouse says, or words to that effect.
* Actually occurs in Literature/TheBible of all places: [[http://www.biblestudytools.com/isaiah/passage.aspx?q=Isaiah+28:9-13 Isaiah 28:10 and 13]]. As translated by the NIV: "Do and do, do and do, rule on rule, rule on rule; a little here, a little there." (Hebrew: "Sav lasav, sav lasav, Kav lakav, kav lakav, Ze'er sham, ze'er sham.") This represents people mocking the prophet's words as meaningless blabber.
** ''The Message'' translation of the Bible ''actually says'', [[http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=is%2028:10&version=MSG "blah, blah, blah, blah"]].
* From an example in ''Literature/HowNotToWriteANovel'': "He went into his office and began his routine of blah while he admired the same view of blah blah that was just the same as every other day on which blah and like clockwork blah blah until it began to seem as if life was an empty series of meaningless actions."
* In ''Literature/OtherwiseKnownAsSheilaTheGreat'', Sheila Tubman and her friends get into a fight with each other over what they wrote about each other in their Slam Books. Sheila's sister Libby and her friend Maryann Markman interrupt it and Maryann gets hit by one of the models in Sheila's bedroom that gets thrown around. Libby threatens to make this fight in the bedroom known to their parents, and Sheila and her friends respond to that threat with "blah blah blah", getting Libby and Maryann to leave the room.
* In ''Literature/NineteenEightyFour'' there is a NewSpeak word for it: "Duckspeak" meaning, to quack like a duck. It can be used as a compliment, when a party member spews proper gibberish propaganda without inflection or meaning (seen as a good thing--their political culture never discovered the sound bite), or as an insult if a rival is doing exactly the same thing.
* A children's novel called ''Cowboy Boy'' had ''two entire pages'' of the main character's friend saying nothing but this.
* In ''Literature/{{Animorphs}}'', "The Andalite Chronicles", Lauren mocked the eventual Visser Three's monologue by saying, "Blah, blah, blah!"
* In Edward Ormondroyd's ''Time At the Top'' the overly-loud TV program in the apartment next door comes in for some mockery.
-->"Yap yap!" shouted Your Genial Breakfast Host, "yap yap yap!" on a soaring note of jollity; and then a crash of applause and whistles and glad cries.
* ''The Blah Story'' by Nigel Tomm is written entirely in this style.
* The back cover of ''Literature/TheStinkyCheeseMan and Other Fairly Stupid Tales'' has a rant from the Little Red Hen about [[SelfDeprecation how ridiculous the book is]] which eventually trails off into a long string of blahs.
* In ''Literature/{{Iorich}}'', [[ShoulderSizedDragon Loiosh]] is granted the temporary ability to listen in on the HQ of an activist group in South Adrilankha. Because neither he nor Vlad really care about the activists' political narrative, he relates what they're talking about to Vlad by saying "''blah blah blah Empire blah blah blah organize blah blah...''".
* ''War Junkie''. News cameraman Jon Steele just has 'Russian...Russian...Russian...' at one point when listening to two people talk in that language.
* In ''Literature/MyBrotherIsASuperhero,'' Zack says that he discovered a new power, and then launches into a story about going to the local sports center:
-->''This is what I heard: “Blah blah blah. Excellent shower facilities. Blah blah blah. Delicious chicken sandwich. Blah blah blah. [[SuperNotDrowningSkills I can breathe underwater]]. Blah blah--”\
“What!?”''
* This is how human speech is represented in ''Literature/{{Doglands}}''. Dogs only understand select words. Furgul can understand the general idea of conversations, but it comes out as a series of generalized words. For example, a human boasting would be depicted as "boast boast boast boast".
* Lawrence Block's ''The Burglar on the Prowl'':
-->'''Ray:''' What, you want to hear the whole spiel? 'You have the right to remain silent, di dah di dah di dah.' Do I have to give it to you word for word?
* In Stephen Manes' ''The Obnoxious Jerks'' the Obnoxious Jerks once forged an official school letter which, except for the letterhead and the principal's signature, said nothing but "blah blah blah".

[[folder:blah blah blah Live-Action TV blah blah blah]]
* ''Series/ArrestedDevelopment'':
** A recurring gag with the family's new lawyer Bob Loblaw, whose name when spoken out loud becomes blah blah blah. We're shown one of his commercials where he says what sounds like "You don't need double talk; you need Blah Blah Blah!" He also runs a website, the Bob Loblaw Law Blog.
--->'''Zuckerkorn:''' Now that's what we call a law bomb!
--->'''Prosecutor:''' That's a low blow, Loblaw!
--->'''Loblaw:''' A Bob Loblaw law bomb!
** Season 5 introduces a similar gag with District Attorney Lottie Dottie, AKA Lottie Dottie DA (La-di-da-di-da).
* In ''Series/TheBigBangTheory'', this happens when Leonard asks Sheldon for advice about Penny:
-->'''Leonard:''' Are you even listening to me?\
'''Sheldon:''' Of course I'm listening. Blah blah, hopeless Penny delusion, blah blah blah.
* Happens during an episode of ''Series/BigWolfOnCampus''. Merton tries to explain the plagues of the Old Testament to Tommy (Since a mummy was using them against the high-school kids...long story) and ends up going "...blah, blah, blah." which prompts Tommy to respond "You can't blah, blah, blah the Bible." [[note]]Something like "blah blah blah" actually appears in the Bible; see the literature section above.[[/note]]
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'':
** Quoth Willow: "Blah blah Gaia. Blah blah moon. [[BuffySpeak Menstrual life-force power thingy]]."
** Buffy in an earlier episode interrupts a lecture of Giles's.
--->'''Buffy:''' Blah blah, biddy blah, I'm so stuffy, get me a scone.
** "Fool For Love", researching what mistakes previous Slayers made leading to their deaths:
--->'''Buffy:''' Same as all the others. Slayer called. Blah, blah. Great protector. Blah, blah. Scary battles. Blah, blah. Oops! She's dead. Where are the details?
** Happens in the first episode, when Buffy interrupts Giles' AsYouKnow exposition.
--->'''Giles:''' One born with--\
'''Buffy:''' --with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil blah blah blah!
* ''Series/Charmed1998'': Paige was on a date and the guy was so boring that all that she heard was 'blah blah blah'.
* In the first ''Series/TheComicStripPresents'' episode, "Five Go Mad In Dorset" (a parody of Creator/EnidBlyton's ''Famous Five'' books), [[ExactEavesDropping the heroes overhear]] the villain's goons talking like this: ''"Blah blah blah secret blueprints, blah blah blah kidnapped scientist..."''
* A subtle example occurs in a ''Series/{{Coupling}}'' episode shown through the [[RashomonStyle perspectives of various characters]]: When Patrick and Sally engage in small talk at an office party, she asks how he got there. In Patrick's version of events, he gives a [[DescriptionPorn ridiculously detailed]] account of the brand and specs of his car. In Sally's version of events, he just says "Car". When Susan shows up they also begin discussing all the food in the spread. In Sally's version each meat has its own type and description. In Patrick's, it is all just sausage.
* ''Series/DoctorWho'': In [[Recap/DoctorWho2005CSTheChristmasInvasion "The Christmas Invasion"]], Mickey sarcastically tells Rose how his grandmother talks about her thusly:
-->"She does my dinner on a Sunday, talks about you all afternoon, yap yap yap yap..."
* On an episode of ''Series/DrakeAndJosh'' we hear the outgoing message on Drake & Josh's answering machine says "Hey, it's Drake & Josh. Leave your message and blah, blah, blah..."
* In a parody of ''VideoGame/TheSims'', ''Series/TheDrewCareyShow'' has an opening where all the characters are talking in 'blah'. Their thoughts were expressed by pictures in thought bubbles.
-->'''Drew:''' Blah! Blahblah! Blahblabhblahblahblah, blahblabhalbahblah! (no thought bubble)\
'''Oswald and Lewis:''' Blah? (thought bubbles are empty)\
'''Drew:''' I was just kissing Kate and thinking about her at the same time! I'm going to ask her to marry me!\
'''Oswald and Lewis:''' Ohhhh! Blah! Blahblahblah! (thought bubbles of partying and champagne)
* The ''Series/FatherTed'' episode "Cigarettes and Alcohol and Rollerblading" has the priests trying to give up their vices for Lent. As withdrawal kicks in, we see them hallucinating each other as giant talking cigarettes (in Ted's case) and pints of Guinness (in Jack's case), their speech reduced to just "blah blah blah".
* At one point in ''Series/{{Firefly}}'', Mal dismisses what someone is telling him by cutting them off and saying "Jabber-jabber-jabber".
* Used ''twice'' in the ''Series/{{Frasier}}'' episode "Death and the Dog". Frasier and Martin start arguing about whether Eddie (the dog) can understand them - we cut to Eddie's point of view where all he can understand is his own name. Later, Frasier and Niles start having a psychiatric debate about Martin - we cut to Martin's point of view, where the only thing he can understand is the word "Dad".
** In another episode Frasier starts dating a woman who everyone else can see is the spitting image of his late mother. Niles starts ranting to their father about how Frasier doesn't see it, but Martin can't follow what he's saying.
--->'''Niles:''' He's clearly the one dealing with repressed material, not to mention the obvious [[LikeParentLikeSpouse Oedipal issues]].\
'''Martin:''' [nodding] Argle gargle google goop.\
'''Niles:''' … what?!\
'''Martin:''' Now you know how it feels, what are you talking about!?
* In ''Series/{{Friends}}'':
-->'''Rachel''': Well okay, how about four hours in a freezing museum auditorium listening to Professor Pitstains and he's "Hey everybody! Remember that thing that's been dead for a gazillion years. Well there's this little bone we didn't know it had!"\
'''Ross''': First of all it's Professor Pittain! And second of all, that little bone proved that that particular dinosaur had wings, but didn't fly.\
'''Rachel''': Okay, see now, what I just heard: blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah, blah, blah.
** In "The One with the Apothecary Table", Joey's room-mate/girlfriend Janine does not get along well with Chandler and Monica. She says that they're just a little blah, then she specifies that Chandler is blah and Monica is very loud.
--->'''Chandler''': And I'm blah? Listen, the only thing more boring than watching modern dance is having to listen to you talk about it, ''[imitating her accent]'' "Oh Chandler, I just lost myself in the moment."\
'''Janine''': Y'know, I know you're talking, but all I hear is, "Blah. Blah. Blah-blah-blah".
* On ''Series/FromTheEarthToTheMoon'', NASA engineer Jay Honeycutt briefs some people on the final descent of the Apollo 11 lunar module:
-->''"...If they get below about eighty seconds of fuel remaining the quantity light will illuminate. At that point they’ve got sixty seconds until they have to decide whether or not to land leaving them twenty seconds of fuel to either get down or to level off their descent and abort. At six feet, if all goes well, probes extending from the landing gear will touch the surface and they will get the contact light. Armstrong will then shut off the descent engine, and they will drop, gently, to the surface, and mankind will never be the same again blah blah blah."''
* ''Series/GameOfThrones''. King Robert is dictating his will on his deathbed. Rather than list the [[TryToFitThatOnABusinessCard excessively long titles that go with his name]] he just says, "titles, titles...you know how it goes."
* ''Series/{{Glee}}'': Mercedes ends up being the third wheel to [[BetaCouple Kurt and Blaine.]] Combined with her going into tots-withdrawal, we get: "Gay Gay Gay." Amusingly, it turns out that they were talking about football during her zone-out.
* In ''Series/GraceUnderFire'' Grace's boss does this in constantly, especially in pep talks, possibly undermined in that he's usually effective.
* ''Series/Halo2022''. A flashback shows John-117 as a trainee trying to stop Soren-066 from deserting.
-->'''John-117:''' If you fail to comply with my orders, I will be compelled to use all necessary means...\
'''Soren-066:''' ''(interrupting)'' I will be compelled to use all necessary means including lethal force to blah biddy-blah. That ain't training man. That's programming!
* In ''Series/HappyEndings'', this is mentioned a few times.
** Brad in the pilot says:
--->'''Dave:''' None of us has made a new friend in like 11 years.\
'''Brad:''' I wouldn't even know how to do that. What do you do, like just walk up to random people and go, "Hey, blah, blah, blah, sports"?
** Then, in "The Shershow Redemption", Max cheers Penny up, dipping into this.
--->'''Max:''' Blah blah blah, you're a great girl. Blah blah blah, you're gonna meet a great guy. Blah blah blah.
* ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'':
** In one episode, Older Ted can't remember the name of the woman he was dating, so for the entire episode she is just referred to as Blah Blah. ("Please, just call me Blah.") Late in the series, he finally remembers her name: [[spoiler:Carol]].
--->'''Blah:''' I'm just some rebound date to you, aren't I? In a year's time, you probably won't remember my name.\
'''Ted:''' That's not true, Blah Blah!
** In another episode, what Barney heard on the previous night was
--->"Blah, blah, blah, I'm an architect. Blah, blah, blah, I don't wear suits. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Wow, an architect. How fascinating. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Rambling architecture anecdote. Blah, blah, something about a bridge. Blah, blah, blah..."
* On ''Series/TheITCrowd'', when Moss is trying to explain to Jen the basics of computers on her first day, all she hears from him is static.
* ''Series/MadAboutYou'' was another show that used the "this is what the dog hears" version.
-->''Blah blah blah blah Murray blah blah blah blah, Murray?''
* ''Series/{{Maid}}'': When she's first in court, Alex's incomprehension while the judge and Sean's lawyer spout legalese is rendered as just "Legal, legal, legal, legal" amid their understandable words.
* ''Series/MalcolmInTheMiddle'': when Lois was ranting about the driver who framed her up for a traffic fine, Malcolm was hearing her clucking like a hen, Reese was hearing her say "blah blah blah", and Dewey was picturing himself in the driver seat, with his mom in the passenger's seat saying "Dewey" over and over again.
* ''Series/{{Monk}}'', in the episode "Mr. Monk Gets Hypnotized":
-->'''Monk''': Ugh, all Dr. Bell wants to do is talk. This is Dr. Bell: "Blah blah blah. Tell me about your mother. Yak yak yak. How does that make you feel? Words words words."
* ''Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus'' had a number of bizarre animated segments where characters would literally just start saying "blah" over and over again. [[http://youtu.be/ZqA06gymHz4?t=43s Here is one such example]].
** In the "Spanish Inquisition" sketch, instead of running down the list of their chief weapons a fifth time, Cardinal Ximinez settles for "Our chief weapon is surprise, blah blah blah blah..."
* ''Series/{{NCIS}}'':
** In "Corporal Punishment", Tony gives Gibbs a sit-rep regarding [=McGee=]'s progress in an investigation.
---> "Hey, Boss. [=McGee=] managed to...blah, blah, blah, computer-geek stuff, and..."
** Tony goes into a HeroicBSOD after hearing evidence that Ziva is dead, and hears everything [=McGee=] says as "Blah, blah, blah, computer stuff, blah."
* In the ''Series/PersonOfInterest'' episode "[[Recap/PersonOfInterestS04E11 If-Then-Else]]", an interesting variation occurs while the Machine is simulating MultipleChoiceFuture scenarios to find an ideal result. When it's [[ExactTimeToFailure running out of time]] to process the different outcomes, it "simplifies" the simulation by having the characters describe their dialog rather than delivering it:
-->'''Reese:''' Coolly delivered sadistic warning.\
'''Fusco:''' Self-deprecating inquiry into the time necessary to infiltrate system.\
'''Root:''' Funny yet insightful retort.\
'''Finch:''' Mildly agitated declaration of mission completion.
* Shows up a lot during the ''Series/RavensHome'' episode "Weirder Things". The kids get so turned on by their favorite show that they end up tuning everyone out and all they hear is "wah wah wah".
* On ''Series/RescueMe'', this is Tommy's sort-of catchphrase.
* ''Series/{{Rome}}''. A member of Erastes Fulmen's gang is shown mocking the speech Brutus gives at Julius Caesar's funeral, where he tries to justify killing him.
-->"And up steps Brutus, and he goes, blah blah blah the Law this, and the Republic that, and the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Tables Twelve bloody Tables]]; I couldn't understand half of it."
* ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'':
** Note that this is what he ''actually'' said.
--->'''Dr. Kelso:''' Why, I remember back in '68, ''blah blah blah'', nostalgic story. ''Now get the hell outta my office!''
** "Shoe shopping" is used to similar effect in "My Big Bird." Anytime a girl says "shoe shopping," all men within earshot zone out and hear most likely nothing but "blah blah blah" until someone mentions bras or similar. Subverted later in the episode when Dr. Cox reveals to have gained immunity because of overexposure to his ex-wife, Jordan.
* There was a famous ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' episode about this trope, only using "yada yada" instead. It involved George thinking his GirlOfTheWeek was cheating on him and using "yada yada" to cover it up.
-->'''George:''' ''[barges into Jerry's apartment]'' Listen to this: Marcie comes over, and she tells me that her ex-boyfriend was over late last night, and "yada yada yada, ''I'm really tired today''".\
'''Jerry:''' What do you think she was tired from?\
'''George:''' Well, obviously the yada yada… You don't think she'd yada yada ''sex''?\
'''Elaine:''' ''[raises hand]'' ''I've'' yada yada'd sex.\
'''George:''' Really?!\
'''Elaine:''' Yeah. I met this lawyer, we went out to dinner, I had the lobster bisque, we went back to my place, yada yada yada, I never heard from him again.\
'''Jerry:''' But you yada yada'd over the best part!\
'''Elaine:''' ''[bitterly]'' No, I mentioned the bisque.
* ''Franchise/StarTrek'' writer Ron Moore says [[http://www.blastr.com/2009/10/ron-moore-calls-star-trek.php this was done in draft scripts]] where science consultants would later add the {{Technobabble}}.
** Name-dropped directly in an episode of The Original Series (''Miri'').
* In the Swedish {{julekalender}} ''Series/SunesJul'', one episode focuses on the eponymous character's family attending a service. The narrator explains that Sune's little brother Håkan loathes going to church, and that he thinks everything the priest says just sounds like "blah blah". After the narrator is finished, the camera shifts to show the priest opening his mouth -- and proceeding to hold the sermon using only the word "blah". As the scene plays out over about a minute, the priest's blahs remain constantly in the background, and the crowd is shown to be listening attentively to everything he says.
* ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'' episode "Tall Tales" [[RashomonStyle in which we see certain events through the main characters' eyes.]] Dean's version of Sam ends up nagging him in 'blah's.
-->'''Sam:''' I don't talk like that!\
'''Dean:''' Well that's what it sounds like to me.
* Some instances of ''Series/Switch1997'' parodying ''Lindenstrasse'' have this [[ExaggeratedTrope as the entire dialogue]].
* ''Series/That70sShow'':
** An entertaining variation: A conversation between Eric, Hyde, Kelso and Laurie takes place, involving Laurie shooting down Kelso's blatant attempts to hit on her. After she leaves, we see that Kelso only heard just enough of what Laurie said to him to string together a few sentences that make it seem like she wants him just as badly.
** Also, the episode "Who Wants it More?" had this mother-daughter exchange between Midge and Donna over [[LysistrataGambit the tactic of withholding sex from her husband to get him to do things]]:
--->'''Midge:''' Donna, you're saying by my not having sex with your father I can get him to paint the bathroom?\
'''Donna:''' Yeah. But don't you think it hurts the relationship?\
'''Midge:''' Blah, blah, blah! I'm getting my bathroom painted!
* The ''Get Me Hennimore!'' sketches from ''Series/ThatMitchellAndWebbLook''. In each sketch, Hennimore's boss would give him two straightforward but mutually incompatible jobs, the central {{MacGuffin}}s of which were indistinguishable from each other. {{Hilarity Ensue|s}}d. In one episode, the audience was given an insight into Hennimore's head, where his boss's instructions consisted entirely of "blah blah blah" while he pictured the inevitable and imminent resulting disasters.
-->''Blah blah blah blah blah'' Russian delegation ''blah blah blah blah blah blah'' these state secrets ''blah blah blah blah'' [[NoodleImplements lobsters]] ''blah blah blah blah'' international espionage ''blah blah blah blah'', and this time, I don't want any screw ups!
* In ''Series/TrueBlood'', Pam's explanation of a dire situation is: "Blah, blah, vampire emergency, blah."
* Quoth Wallace to Veronica, in one episode of ''Series/VeronicaMars'', "Course, you're not listening to a word I said. So I might as well have said, 'blah blah blah, blah, blahbity blah blah'."
* Jade does this on ''Series/{{Victorious}}'' in response to Tori talking about her science project.
-->'''Jade''': I don't know, all I heard was "Hamster Hamster, Science Science, Tori's boring, kill me."
* ''Series/WebSoup'' showed a video where a little girl gets kicked in the face with a soccer ball. When the clip ends, Chris Hardwick goes, "Blah Blah Blah, balls-to-the-face joke."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:blah blah blah Music blah blah blah]]
* The Gershwin song "Blah, Blah, Blah." Half the refrain is made of cliched rhymes used in SillyLoveSongs of the early 30s, and the other half is "blah blah blah" and "tra la la."
* Music/TheAustinLoungeLizards perform a song called "Old Blevins", in which the song's narrator meets the eponymous individual in a bar, who seems to have some deep and abiding wisdom he's desperate to share:
-->"And this is what Old Blevins said to me:\
He said "Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah\
In Tijuana, blah blah blah, back in 1963..."
* Rockapella also performed a song entitled "Blah Blah Blah":
-->When you talk, all I hear is "blah blah blah"\
Baby, you got nothin' to say\
You're makin' sound good and loud now, I can't make it out\
Your lips are workin' fine, but when you talk, "blah blah"
* In a similar vein, there's also "Bla Bla Bla" by Spanish band Miss Caffeina:
-->"Bla, bla, bla, bla"\
Te miro y solo escucho "bla, bla, bla, bla"\
No tienes nada mejor que hacer con tal devoción\
Tal vez perderte y no volver sea mejor opción\
Pero a lo lejos suena "bla, bla, bla, bla"\
Te miro y solo escucho "bla, bla, bla, bla"\
Que lo que empieza muy mal siempre termina fatal\
Mejor no lo hagas por mí\
Yo sé cómo cuidarme solo[[labelnote:Translation]]"Blah blah blah blah" / I look at you and all I hear is "blah blah blah blah" / You have nothing better to do with such devotion / Getting lost and never coming back might be a better choice [for you] / But from afar it's ringing "blah blah blah blah" / I look at you and all I hear is "blah blah blah blah" / 'Cause what starts off very badly always ends horribly / You better not do it for me / I know how take care of myself[[/labelnote]]
* The second verse of the [[Literature/{{Discworld}} Ankh Morpork]] anthem:
-->We bankrupt all invaders, we sell them souvenirs\
We ner ner ner ner by the ears\
Er hner ner ner ner ner ner ner hner ner ner.\
Ner-ner her, ner-ner ner,\
hner ner ner ner neeer\
Er , your gleaming swords, we mortgaged to the hilt...\
We mortgaged to the hilt
** The reason for all the "ner"s is that the writer of the anthem knew that [[SecondVerseCurse no one remembers the second verse of an anthem anyway]], so there was no reason to write a full second verse.
* In the song "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing" by the country music group [=SHeDAISY=], the bridge is actually composed of a string of "blah blah blah"s.
* In Biz Markie's "Just a Friend", he refers to the girl as "Blah blah blah".
* "Sayin' blah blah blah, just jackin' their jaws" from Music/MontgomeryGentry's "What Do Ya Think About That."
* "She said, '[[GratuitousSpanish bienvenidos, señor, blah blah blah blah]]'" from Blaine Larsen's "I Don't Know What She Said."
* Music/{{Gorillaz}}, "Rockit":
-->I'm walking to the something, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (collapse)\
I'm drinking too much blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah (fall out)\
I'm feeling very blah blah, I want to blah blah blah (collapse)\
And in the end, it means I blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (the end)
* Little-known group Devotion 2 Music provided the song "Blah, Blah, Blah" to the ''[[Anime/Pokemon2000 Pokémon the Movie 2000]]'' soundtrack, which basically boils down to a group of girls who don't care what adults have to say, they're too busy playing/watching Pokémon.
* One of Music/IggyPop's albums has this exact title. (Including the same named song.)
* Music/{{Kesha}} wants you to [[http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/tis/tpsr/20736-ep-01-kesha-blahblahblah stop ta-ta-talkin' that blah blah blah.]]
* Carly Pearce: The video for her song "Next Girl" opens with a sleazy, leather-clad man basically yakking off about how great he is to a clearly-disinterested Pearce, before she tells him that she's had enough. The scene then transitions into Pearce performing as the lead singer of a roadside bar's house band.
* [[Music/ThePolice De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da, is all I want to say to you]].
* "Yakety Yak" by The Coasters.
* There was a song by Gigi D'agostino titled "Bla Bla Bla", which consists of a remix of the sentence "I've been thinkin' about what you have done to me" from the song "Why Did You Do It" by Stretch. Plus it's got a cool animation.
* Slovenian rock band Naio Ssaion has a song entitled "Blah-Blah."
* "This is the New Sh*t" by Music/MarilynManson is all about this trope. The chorus even mentions it:
--> Babble babble bitch bitch\
Rebel rebel party party\
Sex sex sex and don't forget the "violence"\
Blah blah blah got your lovey-dovey sad-and-lonely\
Stick your STUPID SLOGAN in:\
Everybody sing along.
* The Music/{{Minutemen}} mock the typical content of SillyLoveSongs in "#1 Song", which ends with:
-->Twinkle, twinkle
-->Blah blah blah
--> [[PunctuatedForEmphasis E! T! C!]]
* One children's song, The Animal Sounds Song, gives a list of animals (including people) and the sounds they make.
--> And the people, they go 'blah blah blah, blah blah blah'
* The chorus to Ferry Corsten's "Whatever!"
--> And it's blah blah blah on the radio
--> And it's blah blah blah on remote control
--> blah blah blah on the TV too
--> blah blah blah means nothing new
--> blah blah blah for me and blah for you
--> ''(blah blah blah)''
* The Music/HuskerDu song "Blah Blah Blah":
--> I can see your lips move/ Blah blah blah/ But all I hear is
* The Chas and Dave song "Rabbit" uses the British equivalent "rabbit rabbit rabbit" in the same context.
* Music/BlueOctober's "Sexual Powertrip (One Big Lie) Bla Bla" has the background singer occasionally making comments mocking the singer.
--> ''But it's getting more impossible to keep a straight face with "I love you"''
--> ''(One big lie!)''
--> ''Yes, I love you''
--> ''(Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla...)''
* Music/CNBlue, who tend to have a lot of SingingSimlish in their songs, have these nonsensical lines in the song "Hey You": ''Duruduru durudu, Blah blah, Duruduru durudu, No no''.
* A Hamburg schoolboy band calls themselves the Bla Bla Blas. (Maybe you saw them 2019 at worlds largest school chess tournament.)

[[folder:blah blah blah Pinballs blah blah blah]]
* In ''Pinball/MonsterBash'', two archaeologists are yammering nonsensically when they awaken the Mummy.

* In one issue of ''Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine'', Creator/StevenMoffat writes his "Production Notes" column as a transcript of a writers' meeting. Producer Beth Willis's desperate attempts to convince him it's not important how many companions haven't met the Daleks quickly becomes "blah blah blah" until he [[PromotedFanboy emerges from his fugue]] with a triumphant "Nine!"

* Ba da da ''Applause'' (''Film/AllAboutEve'' ScreenToStageAdaptation) ba da "Backstage Babble" is ba ba da.
* One scene of ''Allegro'' has the GreekChorus continuously chanting, "Yatata, yatata, yatata, yatata" to represent what "the deep-thinking gentlemen and ladies who keep this metropolis alive" have to say to each other. Or, in other words:
-->'''Girl:''' ''[to Another Girl, with great expression]'' Broccoli!\
'''A Man:''' ''[answering in the same gushing manner]'' Hogwash!\
'''Man:''' ''[to Girl]'' Balderdash!\

* In ''Theatre/{{Chicago}}'', each of the witnesses at Roxie's trial is sworn in thusly:
-->'''Clerk:''' Blahblahblahblahblahblahblah... truth... truth... truth. Selp-yuh God.
* In ''Theatre/SpringAwakening'', the song "Totally Fucked" has the characters mocking their teachers by mimicking them this way, and ends with the characters leaping around the stage in a (well, choreographed, but seemingly) random explosion of movement shouting "BLAH BLAH BLAH..."

[[folder:blah blah blah Video Games blah blah blah]]
* ''VideoGame/AmnesiaTheDarkDescent'' has an instance that is definitely ''not'' funny. [[spoiler:During the flashback in which he cuts a man's flesh in order to keep the Shadow at bay, Daniel starts mockingly parroting the man's cries of agony. "Please! I didn't ''do'' anything! Blah blah blah!"]]
* In ''Atlantis Odyssey'', Robert slips into light TechnoBabble after seeing the mirror system on the island.
-->'''Nicole:''' Blah blah blah, boring scientific stuff...
* ''Barbarous: Tavern of Emyr'':
** When Lyselle is explaining the plans to destroy key points of Varizz's defences, all Emyr and O'rho hear after awhile is "blah blah blah" -- until she mentions explosives.
** Gwen starts hearing "blah blah blah" when Rush'a'Doom talks about his upbringing as a captive of humans.
* In the ''VideoGame/{{Discworld}}'' video game, the password to the monks' meeting place is literally "Blah blah blah spoons blah blah blah [[ThePasswordIsAlwaysSwordfish swordfish]] blah blah blah Simon Says".
* ''VideoGame/DutyCalls'', a parody of ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty'', gives your objective by saying, "Here's your objective: Blah blah blah blah secret base. Blah blah blah blah plans. Blah blah blah nuclear missile bomb. Blah blah blah counting on you. Utmost importance, win, good luck."
* In ''Gold Miner: Vegas'', the front page of the ''Didjurydoo News'' is nothing but a string of "blah"s.
* ''VideoGame/JetSetRadio Future'': "[[EvilTowerOfOminousness It]]s name is... well, '''BLAH DIDDLY BLAH BLAH, ITS NAME IS IRRELEVANT!!!'''"
* The visual effect aspect of this trope as mentioned in the description is played for dramatic effect early on in ''VisualNovel/KatawaShoujo'', when Hisao reads the alarmingly long prescription list given to him by his doctor, detailing the various medications he would need to take daily for his heart condition. Snippets of the medical jargon used on it rapidly flood onto a white background, until the majority of it is rendered completely incomprehensible.
* ''VideoGame/KittensGame'': The very premise of the game.
-->'''Something something kittens game. Something something build a village of cats and bring them to the moon'''
* In ''VideoGame/LuminousArc2'', Pop use this to get [[spoiler:saying the vows required to Unite with Master Roland]] over with.
* ''Franchise/MegaMan'':
** ''VideoGame/MegamanBattleNetwork'': Used in the [[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork6CybeastGregarAndCybeastFalzar sixth game]] to have Lan avoid recapping something that just happened a few minutes ago while still explaining it to a character.
** ''VideoGame/MegaManStarForce'': In the second game, Geo and the others hear the dialect of Netopia's residents as "Blah Blah Blah" due to lack of a translator.
* ''VideoGame/{{Neptunia}}'': Frequently [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] and PlayedForLaughs, with characters using the trope to tell each other plot-relevant information the audience is already familiar with without stopping the pace of a scene. It helps that the series has NoFourthWall. An example, from ''VideoGame/HyperdimensionNeptuniaVictory'':
-->'''Vert:''' I don't understand the situation. Can you go into more detail?\
'''Neptune:''' Uh, okay. Well... Yadda-yadda-yadda...\
'''Plutia:''' Blah-de-blah-de-blah-blah-blah...\
'''Vert:''' I see. So what you're saying is, ''[proceeds to accurately summate the situation]''\
'''[[OnlySaneMan Noire]]:''' ''[dumbfounded]'' She understood that.\
'''[[DeadpanSnarker Blanc]]:''' What a convenient language.
* ''[[VideoGame/{{Oddworld}} Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty]]'' has this as part of the Sligs' EnemyChatter.
-->'''Slig''': He said "Blah blah blah blah," so I said "Blah blah blah blah blah."
* ''VideoGame/{{Paperboy}}'' has "blah blah blah" printed all over the newspaper that appears in the Game Over and attract mode screens.
* ''VideoGame/PaperMario'': A RunningGag in the series involves a certain character going off on a tangent for so long that Mario falls asleep. As he does so, the character's words are replaced with ellipses.
* ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'':
** The explanation of how the Transfer Machine in ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'' works is this trope mixed with random technological phrases. It's unknown whether this is the player character ignoring/not understanding what the scientist is saying or [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} the scientist]] not bothering with a real explanation.
** In ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeonGatesToInfinity'', when Emolga and Dunsparce wonder about how the player character came into the Pokémon universe, [[spoiler:Hydreigon]] launches into a ridiculously-long explanation that's shortened into "Blah blah blah!"
** In ''VideoGame/PokemonSuperMysteryDungeon'', when you're getting chewed out by your friend's dad Carracosta for sneaking out after dark, most of his lecture is rendered as "*nag nag nag*" and "*gripe gripe gripe*".
* ''VideoGame/RhythmHeaven Fever'': The "Ring Side" minigame features a wrestler answering questions from a sports reporter. The wrestler is apparently not paying attention, as the only thing she seems to say is "Wubbadubbadub, is that true?" and "Whoa, you go, big guy!"
* ''VideoGame/RuneScape'': When speaking to Hazelmere outside of telepathy, all the player hears is "blah blah blah", due to a language barrier. Coeden's story during the quest The Light Within also features a lot of "blahs", due to the story's dullness.
* ''VideoGame/SamAndMaxFreelancePolice'', in both the Creator/LucasArts and Telltale adaptations:
** In ''VideoGame/SamAndMaxHitTheRoad'', if you talk to the Bigfoot Chief's wife she starts to rattle off like this during conversations with her.
** In ''Sam and Max Save the World: Situation - Comedy'' Myra Stump, a NoCelebritiesWereHarmed parody of Oprah, will trail off into "Blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda", when she goes off on a tanget about her political views.
* From ''VideoGame/SlyCooperAndTheThieviusRaccoonus'' in the episode "Vicious Voidoo":
-->'''Mz. Ruby:''' Ha ha ha… Oh, Sly. I see your mouth a' movin', but all I hear is 'Blah, blah, blah'!
* ''VideoGame/Splatoon2'': Pearl in one discussion jokingly imitates Marina by saying this. Marina appears to agree that she sounds like this without a hint of irony.
* ''VideoGame/StarTropics 2'': Whenever Mike needs to catch someone up on the story up to the present, his conversation is condensed to "Blah blah Tetrads blah blah time travel blah blah pizza."
* ''VideoGame/StoryOfSeasons2014'': Marian lapses into this during the "Beautiful Heart, Beautiful Mind Alliance" scripted event. It's unclear whether he is actually saying this or if this is just what the PlayerCharacter is hearing because the actual medical terminology goes completely over their head.
-->'''Marian:''' Upon receiving the signals from your sensory organs, your brain then interprets that signal as blah blah blah science medicine science.
* ''VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia'' had Rita's... "Blah blah blah. [[GameBreaker TIDAL WAVE!!]]"
* ''VideoGame/ThereIsNoGameWrongDimension'': In chapter 4, the fake End Use License Agreement for [[spoiler: the IdleGame version of ''Legend of the Secret'']] is mostly composed of page after page of "Blah"s.
* ''VideoGame/TomodachiLife'': A Mii can talk about their spouse or child; it eventually deteriorates into this as the game [[FastForwardGag speeds up]], going so fast that you're unable to hear what the Mii has to say. The text box reflects it. This is a placeholder if a Mii decides to do an impression of someone who doesn't have any catchphrases registered in the North American version.
* ''VideoGame/VampireTheMasqueradeBloodlines'': The hostess at the Red Dragon restaurant calls her friend on her cell phone after you take the elevator to the second floor. If you play as the Malkavian, one of her conversations consists of nothing but "Blah blah blah" with inflection and emphasis in the same places as when you hear the normal version when playing as another clan.

[[folder:blah blah blah Web Animation blah blah blah]]
* In the ''[[VideoGame/NintendoWars Advance Wars']]'' parody ''Bob Squad'', Olaf is literally doing this:

'''Olaf:''' Blah, blah, dribble blah...!\
'''Colin:''' (Am I doomed to waste away listening to his irrelevant dribble?)\
'''Olaf:''' DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE, BLAH!!!...\
'''Colin:''' (What's worse is he's actually saying 'Dribble dribble blah!')\
'''Olaf:''' Dribble, blah blah yogurt dribble blah...\
'''Colin:''' (AGH! He doesn't need armies, he needs a megaphone!)\
'''Olaf: COLIN!!!'''\
'''Colin: AAAAA!!!'''\
'''Olaf: Pay attention to my irrelevant dribble!'''\
'''Colin:''' Yes, sir! Sorry, sir!
* ''WebAnimation/TheDementedCartoonMovie'': "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...." [[YourHeadAsplode (cue tons of heads exploding)]] [[WordsCanBreakMyBones Zeeky Boogy Doog.]]
* ''WebAnimation/HelluvaBoss'': In the episode "[[Recap/HelluvaBossS1E3SpringBroken Spring Broken]]", Blitzo is having problems with his jilted ex-lover, Verosika, stealing his company's reserved parking space and putting her record company up in the office right across the hall from his own office. A pissed-off Blitzo vows revenge as he glares at the door for Verosika's office, but Moxxie interjects and tries to tell him that maybe a more diplomatic approach is need for dealing with Verosika and her crew, and goes on to say he maybe he is himself perhaps most fit for a said approach. As Moxxie speaks, Blitzo just keeps angrily staring at Verosika's office door while Moxxie's voice is muffled and mostly drowned out by a loud dial tone.
-->'''Blitzo:''' ''(having not heard a single word)'' Moxxie, shut the fuck up.
* ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'':
** The WebAnimation/StrongBadEmail [[http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail127.html "long pants"]] had Strong Bad shorten down a rambling portion of the email to, "Anyway, habbity blah, blah blebbity bloo, I don't care, just get him some pants!"
** "The Next April Fools' Thing" has rejected girl character Folly discussing an idea for a cartoon where Bubs throws a picnic and "everybody shows up and says 'blah'", which is depicted as characters appearing out of nowhere and literally saying "Blah!"
* ''WebAnimation/IfTheEmperorHadATextToSpeechDevice'': When Magnus and the Emperor start to have yet another of their long arguments, an exasperated Kitten hears it as both repeating "rabble rabble rabble" ''ad infinitum''.
* ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'': A RunningGag in Volumes 1-2 is that Professor Port constantly bores his classes with stories about his exploits as a Huntsman. The scene always focusses on something the kids are doing while Port is saying the words "Blah blah blah" either off-screen or in the background of the scene. On one occasion, it's because Ruby is goofing off in class and on another occasion, Weiss is silently watching the clock counting down to the end of the lesson while Jaune attempts to nervously ask her out on a date. Port is usually so wrapped up in his stories, he never notices students aren't listening, and sometimes even misses how much time has been lost from the lesson.

** Subverted in [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0314.html this strip]], which looks like it's doing this to indicate that Haley isn't listening to Elan, only for it to turn out that he really is just saying "blah" repeatedly ([[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} he's attempting to set a record]]).
** Played straight in [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0257.html a conversation between Julia and her friends]]. ("Blah blah blah blah boyfriend blah blah seriously...")
* ''Webcomic/SleeplessDomain'': While Undine is talking to Forte Lead at school about the former's unsuccessful attempts to [[HeroLookingForGroup find a new team]] the previous night, [[Webcomic/KiwiBlitz Pop Blitz]] rudely jumps into their conversation -- only for Lead to ask her, [[UnknownRival "Um, have we met?"]]. Undine walks away, amused, as the remaining two continue to argue in the background, where Blitz's dialogue is rendered as [[https://www.sleeplessdomain.com/comic/chapter-6-page-19/ "nonsense nonsense."]] Lead responds with a confused "I don't care?"
* From the annotation to ''Webcomic/TerrorIsland'' strip #351:
--> Ben's rough draft for panel three was "blah blah blah balance." I "jazzed it up" a bit.
* In ''Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt'', when the computer-talk starts going over Antimony's head:
-->'''Kat:''' But what did you use to jargon jargon [[{{Technobabble}} babble]] babble strange words?\
'''Anja:''' Haha, it took a while to perfect, but chatter chatter jargon computers [[MagicFromTechnology technical wizardry]] [[{{Magibabble}} babble]] jargon.
* In ''[[http://yahtzee.comicgenesis.com/ Yahtzee Takes on the World]]'', by yes, ''that'' [[WebAnimation/ZeroPunctuation Yahtzee]], [[http://yahtzee.comicgenesis.com/d/20011209.html Newspapers]] have only the title (I.E. the important part) in actual words, with the rest being just the word "blah" repeated over and over, but one random word will also be added, so the paper reads something like this:
-->'''Newspaper:''' blah blah blah blah blah radish blah blah blah.
* ''Webcomic/SlightlyDamned'' uses this trope to spur Buwaro into...[[spoiler:well, [[http://www.sdamned.com/2010/03/03142010/ something]] [[ShutUpKiss he wouldn't have been anywhere near mature enough to do]] a hundred comics ago.]]
* Played in [[http://blazen.thecomicseries.com/comics/pl/55776 this filler strip]] for ''Webcomic/{{Blazen}}'', wherein Makoto, Valkenhayn and Platinum find Terumi with Noel becoming Mu-12, and ask what's going on. What he gives is a summation of the plot so-far. As usual, made better by reading it in Terumi's voice.
-->'''Terumi:''' Well, since you're all here, I may as well tell you the same story I've told everyone else today. Blah blah blah, '''CAULDRON''', blah blah blah, '''BLACK BEAST''', blah blah blah, '''AZURE''', blah blah blah, '''NEW WIFE''', blah blah, '''HURRAY!''' The end!

* ''Webcomic/NeverMindTheGap'': [[http://nmg.thecomicseries.com/comics/127 on this page]], Miwa isn't listening what a teen robot is saying to her. He apparently notices.
* In the original online version of ''Diary of a Wimpy Kid,'' one entry details Greg sleeping in class and his teacher making him sit up front as punishment. The accompanying drawing is of Greg asleep and snoring on the chair while his teacher's lecture is rendered as "Blaaah blaaah blaaah blaaah".
* Done [[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=008354 here]], [[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=008355 here]], and [[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=008356 here]] in ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'', when John is telling Roxy about what happened. Roxy, on the other hand, is too busy checking John out.
-->JOHN: blah blah blah blah blah blah blah meteor.
* In ''Webcomic/ArthurKingOfTimeAndSpace'', when Elaine is working on something while Lancelot and Galahad [[http://www.arthurkingoftimeandspace.com/2847.htm discuss "that soldier and strategy stuff" in the background]]:

* In the elf/dwarf war arc of ''ComicStrip/{{Nodwick}}'', Nodwick and Piffany disguise themselves as dwarves without understanding the language. After getting chewed out by the one in charge (who thinks they're derelict soldiers) Nodwick's reply consists of the word "dwarf" repeated over and over.

* In [[http://www.schlockmercenary.com/2003-03-27 this]] ''Webcomic/SchlockMercenary'' strip, Colonel Ceeta is telling the Toughs to only use minimum absolute force on their mission, even though they're really good at blowing stuff up.

'''Tagon:''' You told them not to blow things up, yet they are still smiling. I think we need to start again, colonel.
* In ''Webcomic/CosmicDash'', the [[http://www.cosmicdash.com/comic/episode-2-pg-6-2/ Galacticorp contract]] contains a more refined form of blah, the Lorem Ipsum pseudo-text.
* ''Webcomic/{{Digger}}'': During Skull-Ridge's funeral, Digger and Grim Eyes have a brief argument over one of the hyenas's funerary traditions -- eating the liver of the deceased -- while Boneclaw Mother eulogizes the deceased. At one point, Boneclaw's dialogue turns into "Blah blah blah honor blah blah respect blah blah Skull Ridges--", with a footnote that this is strictly from Digger's perspective, as "not even Boneclaw Mother would do that."
* In ''Webcomic/{{Huckleberry}}'', a [[https://huckleberry.thecomicseries.com/comics/51/ closeup of a newspaper]] shows a paragraph consisting mostly of repeated "blah"s.
* In ''Webcomic/MySisterSuprema'', when Dr. Saxon is [[https://www.arkhaven.com/comics/superhero/my-sister-suprema/finding-a-single-girl tracking Cece]], a transcript of her speaking to Randy appears on-screen as exactly this.
* ''WebComic/SluggyFreelance'' uses it sometimes in flashbacks, sometimes to show someone wasn't listening. One example with a bit of a twist is in "Monstrous - Darkest Wood" in a flashback about how the mushroom dryad tried to wipe Torg's and Sam's memories, but it didn't work on Sam because he was a vampire. Sam still looked brainwashed, but it was because the dryad was in her GorgeousGorgon form and Sam was staring at her cleavadge. In the flashback, she does some EvilGloating and gives information the reader was already given, which is represented by "BLA BLA BLA." Then Sam recounts it to the other heroes as he best can remember, but his version goes "BLA BLA BOOB BLA BOOB BLA."

* Used in ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' as quoted at the top of the page. Mostly to make fun of how the players explain to each what they just did, despite the fact they know already. Note that the instance of the page quote is a thorough LampshadeHanging, since just before Tea had been uninterested in the final showdown between Yugi and Pegasus, and finally tuned back in.
-->'''Tea:''' Look! I think something exciting is happening!\
''[exchange of blahs]''\
'''Tea:''' Whoop, my mistake.
* In the ''WebVideo/PotterPuppetPals'' episode, "School is for Losers", Snape accosts Harry and then tries to give him a stern reprimand for skipping potions class for several weeks in a row. We cut to Harry's point of view, where all he hears from said reprimand is Snape saying his name, otherwise to him it just sounds like Snape mumbling incoherently.

-->'''Aang:''' When [[spoiler:Azula shot me with lightning]], my seventh chakra was locked, cutting off my connection to all the cosmic energy in the universe.\
'''Toph:''' You know what I just heard? Blah blah [[MagiBabble spiritual mumbo jumbo]] blah blah something about space.
** What about:
-->'''Aang:''' ''"Firebenders...Fire Lord...blah, blah, blah, blah."''
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'': In the episode "Journey to the Center of the Bat!", the death of his faithful steed (and prolonged exposure to [[LargeHam Aqua]][[IdiotHero man]]) causes the normally reserved Atom to [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge completely flip out]]:
-->'''Aquaman:''' Uh, what about the plan?\
'''The Atom:''' Blah blah blah! ''Let's punch 'em!''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}'': One episode had a scene where Lydia is sitting in class, listening to her teacher literally say "Blah blah, drone drone..."
* ''WesternAnimation/BigCityGreens'': In "Animal Farm", when the point of view switches from the Greens to the animals, they speak perfect English while the humans only go Blah, Blah, Blah.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks'': In a holiday edition, Granddad completely [[HandWave waves away]] Huey's detailed explanation about Christmas actually being a pagan holiday with the hilariously out-of-context line, "Blah blah gay sex, blah blah Congress."
* In ''Franchise/CareBears: Share Bear Shines'', Share is trying to convince Princess Starglo not to abandon her post by telling her the storybook version of her history. "You were the first twinklet, the mother of all the stars!" Starglo is not impressed, as she continues the story, "The keeper of starlight and wishes, burning brightly in the sky, blah blah blah blah. Yeah, I've heard the story, too." Though she does admit that the story is true, "Except for the 'blah blah blah' part. I made that up."
* In the ''WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers'' episode "The Carpetsnaggers", the party guests are literally saying "blah blah blah" to each other in the background.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Chowder}}'':
** It once has the title character listening to Mung Daal's lecture about midnight-snacking:
--->'''Mung:''' Listen, Chowder. Late night snacking is not healthy. It can cause a change in your eating and, blah. Blah blah blah blah blah. Blah, blah blah blah. Blah blah. You're not listening to me, are you?\
'''Chowder:''' Yes I am!\
'''Mung:''' What'd I just say?\
'''Chowder:''' Blah, blah blah. Blabbty, blah blah. Blah blah. and I couldn't hear the last part because I was looking at the food.\
'''Mung:''' [[SubvertedTrope …Lucky guess.]]
** Another episode shows Endive reading a fake love letter saying how beautiful she is, but when you see it all it says it "Dear Ms. Endive" then repeats blah for the entire page. Which implies that Mung ''actually wrote'' blah blah blah for almost an entire letter. Then again, she does have an obsession with him in that episode, so apparently she was crazy enough to fill in the blanks for herself and pretend he actually wrote them.
** In "Chowder's Catering Company", when Chowder arrives in the kitchen with a dirty fuzzball, we see Mung talking to Shnitzel, although we can only hear him say "blah blah blah".
* ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'': Eustace sometimes says this when something doesn't interest him.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheCritic'' had an episode where Jay Sherman was playing an arcade game called ''Escape From the [[UsefulNotes/NewYorkCity Big]] [[BigApplesauce Apple]]'' in which his player character encountered a rather difficult enemy:
-->'''Jay Sherman:''' Oh no! The Reverend Al Sharpton!\
'''Al Sharpton:''' [[CharacterFilibuster Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah-]]\
''[character withers away to a skeleton, then [[NoBodyLeftBehind dust]]]''\
'''GAME OVER'''
* ''WesternAnimation/DangerMouse'': Isombard Sinclair the announcer does this when he and the visuals at the start of the episode "Alping Is Snow Easy Matter" can't get on the same page.
-->London, teeming city of millions blah blah blah all that blah blah a pillar box blah blah blah. World's greatest secret agent blah blah blah world's worst assistant blah blah blah blah. Don't know why I bother.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Daria}}'': In the episode "Depth Takes a Holiday", Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day are eavesdropping on Helen and Jake chewing out Daria. Valentine's describes their conversation as "being all blah blah blah".
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Duckman}}'': During a visit to a BananaRepublic in one episode, the main character embarks on one of his trademark rants, and gains a number of listeners. When the perspective shifts to one man in the crowd, he hears it as "blah-blah-blah" and thinks "I wish we understood English."
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'':
** In the [[RashomonStyle Rashomon episode]] "Once Upon an Ed", all [[TeenGenius Edd]] can say during [[TheDitz Ed's]] flashback is things like ''"Yap yap, blah blah, drivel drivel drivel"''.
** In "Boys Will Be Eds", as the boys suddenly find themselves infatuated with Nazz, her angry tangent about them making fun of Jimmy's AmusingInjuries trails off into "blah blah blah".
* In ''WesternAnimation/EvilConCarne'', all Cod Commando ever said was "blah blah blah".
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'':
** "Untranslated" girl talk: ''"Blah blah blah shoes! Blah blah blah clothes! Blah blah blah boyfriends! Blah blah blah. We'll never notice you."''
** Also at the end of "The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker" when Mr. Crocker comes on screen mentioning that he will someday catch a fairy, he gets stabbed in the rear by a wand, fired by Cosmo, who floats by saying "Blah blah blah blah blah..." while making a duck hand.
** "Channel Chasers" has the ''Walnuts'' cartoon, a [[ReferencedBy/{{Peanuts}} parody of the]] ''Franchise/{{Peanuts}}'' animated productions, and it spoofs the offscreen adults' "wah wah wah" muted trombone dialogue by having a similar sound saying "blah blah blah blah."
** Fairy babies experience this when they go through their "Pooferty" phase, in which their speech transitions from "Poof, poof" to eligible words. During the transition, they will speak nonsense gibberish which cannot be understood by anyone.
** "Information Stupor Highway" has Timmy's email message filled with "blahs" and "yaddas".
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'':
** One episode showed a "clip" from ''Series/MurphyBrown'' in which the dialogue consisted of this and the name of some 1990s political figure. ("Blah-blah-blah John Sununu." "Blah-blah-blah Dan Quayle." "Murphy! [[NoodleIncident You can't Blah-blah-blah the Ayatollah!]]" and so forth.) The trope did happen in an episode of ''Series/MurphyBrown'' as well: Murphy speaks to Frank, and all he hears is a loud noise that sounds like a foghorn.
** There's a bit about how to craft "perfect ''Franchise/StarWars'' dialogue," which consists of saying "something, something, something, Dark Side, something, something, something complete". And ''Something, Something, Something, Dark Side'' was used as the title of their [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuyPresentsLaughItUpFuzzball spoof]] of ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack''.
** Another episode had Peter saying that Music/{{Sting}} sings in such a way where [[SomethingSomethingLeonardBernstein you can only understand the last three words of a verse]], followed by a cutaway of Sting singing his song "Brand New Day" thusly:
--> "Samona stema stena stine hemo no hemo libo la polayl stabbe noba Brand New Day"
** A CutawayGag has actors reading the review for ''Our American Cousin''. "Blah, blah, blah, Lincoln assassinated, blah, blah, blah, tragedy for our Republic. Uh... oh, look! Ably performed by the entire ensemble. That's us! That's all of us!"
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Histeria}}'': In an episode about Samuel Webster and his dictionary, the publisher is dictating a letter to his secretary and ends with "blah blah blah blah blah". When asked to read back the letter, she reads the blah blah blah blah blah" back as well.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Humf}}'': Played in every single episode when it's an adult talking to another adult or over the phone.
* ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'': "Yes, yes, you blame me for your horrible life, blah, blah, BIG DEAL!"
* Played straight in ''WesternAnimation/JackieChanAdventures''. "Do my words sound to you like Blah blah blah blah?"
* ''WesternAnimation/JellyJamm'': In one episode, when Bello tries to remember something important that the Queen told him, he gets an imagination bubble of the Queen simply saying "Blah blah blah", spoken as if she's saying actual words.
* ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes'': An episode has Jimmy trying to listen in on a conversation between Beezy and Heloise. Even when he's right next to him, all Beezy says is "blah blah blah".
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'': In the episode "Let's Play House", [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin where the characters are]] PlayingHouse, Kaeloo (as the "mother") tells Stumpy why eating yogurt is good for health. The scene switches to his perspective and all he hears is "blah blah blah...".
* ''WesternAnimation/MyGymPartnersAMonkey'': When Slips is shedding and is resisting the urge to scratch himself, he hears Adam and Jake speaking this way.
* ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}'': The adults and their muted trombone-larynges would probably count as another perceptual equivalent to blah. Parodied on ''WesternAnimation/RobotChicken'', where Charlie Brown complains "I don't know what they're saying. All I hear is this 'wah wah' [crap]."
* ''WesternAnimation/PepperAnn'': The title character frequently hears teachers this way.
* ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'': The "from a character's perspective" version is parodied/subverted. Candace is ranting at the two main characters, when they start to phase out. When Candace asks if they were even listening, it turns out that her voice ''literally'' became echo-y, for some reason.
* ''WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain'': In "The Pinky P.O.V.", we see how Pinky hears Brain, and it basically comes out to "And now we're going to blah blah big word blah blah ''really'' big word blah blah blah..."
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePJs'': Thurgood has a setting on his recliner labeled "Blah Blah Blah", which he sets it to when he is sitting on it and Muriel begins to nag him.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls1998'': In an episode where the girls are seeking admission into the Association of World Super Men, Major Glory wraps up his StayInTheKitchen refusal speech with a list of their responsibilities as females: "Blah, blah, blah, whatever, women stuff."
* ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo'': In "Pet Sounds", Jet and his friends try to train Mitchell's dog Cody. Sydney says that all Cody hears is "Blah blah blah, food, blah blah blah."
* ''WesternAnimation/ReBoot'': Phong's password was "yadda yadda yadda".
* ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom'': In "Hair(less): The Musical", when Skelly T starts talking to Skull Boy about getting him into show business, Skull Boy gets distracted by a loose thread on Skelly T's hat and just hears him saying "blah blah blah".
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'' also had an episode with dog's-eye-view scenes, where all the humans speak gibberish except for the dog's name, Spike.
* ''WesternAnimation/SheepInTheBigCity'': Farmer John often starts talking like this. At one point, he goes on like this for an entire night, then says: [[LampshadeHanging "I guess I should stop saying "blah" over and over again and get going"]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'':
** This happens to Bart and Homer themselves in "Bart Gets an F", when speaking to a teacher and a psychiatrist about Bart's bad performance in school.
** When Bart tries to train Santa's Little Helper in "Bart's Dog Gets an F", that's all the dog hears.
** In a flashback in "Like Father, Like Clown", young Krusty also invoked this trope when poking fun at his father's profession as a Rabbi ("Blah, blah, blah, Moses!").
** In "Rosebud", Homer used this in his roast of Mr. Burns at the latter's birthday celebration ("I'm Mr. Burns, blah, blah, blah! Do this, do that, blah, blah, blah!").
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** "Heh-heh, Rob Schneider, derp de derp! Derp de derpity derpee derp." A RealTrailerFakeMovie for "Da Derp Dee Derp Da Teetley Derpee Derpee Dumb" (rated PG-13). "Derp" is a nonsense word that Creator/TreyParkerAndMattStone invented while they were working on ''Film/CannibalTheMusical'' which they use in regards to things they think are ''really'' stupid. There was even a guy on ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' whose name was Mr. Derp. [[MemeticMutation Now a part of the Internet's vocabulary.]]
** "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE", which is yelled by pretty much every angry mob on the show. The "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE" gets lampshaded occasionally.
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'':
** Parodied when [=SpongeBob=] lets Gary sleep over at Patrick's rock-house, and while he's thinking, Patrick can only be heard saying "Blah blah blah." Then, when [=SpongeBob=] leaves, we get to hear the rest of Patrick and Gary's conversation: He's ''actually'' saying "Blah blah blah" instead of plain English.
** The same thing happens in "Band Geeks". The ambient noise of everyone talking before practice is revealed to everyone just saying blah blah blah.
** A similar thing happens in "Squidville" when [=SpongeBob=] calls Squidward on the phone. We hear Squidward's half of the conversation, with [=SpongeBob=] talking in muffled gibberish in the background. When Squidward hangs up, the scene switches to [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick, still talking in gibberish to each other.
** Same thing whenever Mrs. Puff is teaching and [=SpongeBob=] is distracted. Even when focus switches back to Mrs. Puff she is still saying 'blah blah blah'.
** Also in "I Had An Accident" where Sandy calls [=SpongeBob=]'s decision to forever stay in his house 'crazy talk', Patrick interrupts and says that this is the "real" crazy talk:
--->'''Patrick:''' Guh Blee Bluh Bluh! Guh Blee Bluh Bluh! Blah, blah, blah! Awloooooooo...\
''[Sandy bonks him on the head]''\
'''Patrick:''' Sorry.
** In the Season 6 episode "The Card", [=SpongeBob=] is trying to explain to Patrick how valuable his trading card is, but all Patrick could hear is 'blah blah blah'.
** A RunningGag in "Penny Foolish" involves Mr. Krabs rambling obsessively about something, only to cut to another fish listening in and hearing him make dolphin chirps or seal barks.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'':
** In "Diaz Family Vacation", when King Butterfly starts talking about the lecture he's going to give on proper throne posture, what Star hears is, "Blah blah blah posture blah blah blah back problems blah blah blah..."
--->'''Star:''' So, this is what it's like to be ''bored to death...''
** In "St. Olga's Reform School For Wayward Princesses", the informational pop-ups that appear during a ParodyCommercial for the school start displaying things like "Blah Blah Blah Blah"
* ''WesternAnimation/TazMania'': Taz's dad (a Bing Crosby Soundalike) often went ''"Blah, blah, blah, yakkety schmakkety."''
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'':
** Izzy doesn't care for Trent's defense that Heather tricked him into a kiss. In "[[Recap/TotalDramaHauteCampTure Haute Camp-ture]]", she mocks him with a semi-NonSequitur rant while [[BareHandedPuppetry talking with her right hand]]: "Yeah right, that's what they all say. My lips did what they wanted. My lips have a mind of their own. Blah blah blah blah! Fishcakes! Blah blah blah! I'm a liar! Blah blah blah!" Trent's more weirded out than offended.
** Amy cruelly ridicules Samey in "[[Recap/TotalDramaTwinningIsntEverything Twinning Isn't Everything]]" after the latter tried to stand up for herself and failed to get the team's support. Amy notes that she made a fool of herself and mockingly imitates her with the line, "Oh, I got the food and I'm the nice one! Blah blah blah!"
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaThreeZonesAndABaby Three Zones and a Baby]]", Chris isn't impressed with the show's lawyers demanding that he return the babies he's added to make a dangerous challenge even worse. His irreverence of the situation shines bright when he summarizes the phone call as "something about danger, and babies, and lawsuits, blah blah blah bleh bleh bleh," while [[BareHandedPuppetry talking with his right hand]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TUFFPuppy'':
** In the episode "Dog's Best Friend", freeze framing Snaptrap's dance academy invitation reveals: "Dear Verminious, we would like to offer you full scholarship! Ah blah blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda blah blah blah blah blah blah blah."
** Also, in "Forget Me Mutt", Dudley says "Yap yap blah blah blah blah blah!" as The Chief.
* ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Turbo}} Turbo F.A.S.T.]]'':
-->'''Burn:''' Chet! I know you're trying to help, but every time you speak, all I hear is "Burn can't handle herself, blah blah blah!"\
'''Chet:''' Well, what ''I'' hear is "Chet cares too much," and then a much more loving "blah blah blah."
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Wishfart}}'': Happens on the episode "Customer Service is My Jam" when a lovestruck Dez is too busy daydreaming about Tsuni to actually listen to her instructions on running the comic book shop, causing her dialogue to come out as "blah blah blah" with occasional interspersion of out-of-context words.
* ''WesternAnimation/YinYangYo'': Done in the ThemeTune during Yang's part of the song.
-->'''Main singer:''' Yang kicks butt with a chi hoo ha.\
'''Yang:''' I chop, I smash! I--\
'''Yin:''' Blah, blah, blah!

** In addition, during some live performances, Geddy has sported a shirt that says [[http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.roosterteeth.com/images/caboose117749bb18178c6d3.jpg "Blah Blah Blah"]].
* The ancient Greek version of "Blah blah blah" was "Barbari," and this was typically how foreigners were represented as speaking: One long string of unintelligible "bar-bari-bar-bari." Hence the term "Barbarian."[[note]][[Franchise/ConanTheBarbarian Conan the Blahblahian]] doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?[[/note]] From which comes the name Barbara.
* In 1971, a contemporary Norwegian poet made a point in trying to get an article printed in the biggest newspaper in the country. The entire text consisted of "blabla". All to make harassment of the overly long and fact-based articles in said newspaper. He never got in on print there, but the correspondence following the attempt was quite hilarious in hindsight.
* Dutch passports contain the following on their inner front cover (translated into English): "In the name of His Majesty the King of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau, etc. etc. etc.," due to the length of the King's full title. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Style_of_the_Dutch_sovereign#Full_styles Look how long it is.]]
