->''"Have you ever wanted to punch someone but couldn't because you were laughing too hard?"''
-->-- '''Adam Hills'''

Some lines are so good even the humorless can't help cracking up. Whether it be TheChessmaster's witty comeback, the HeroicComedicSociopath's cutting insult, the NaiveNewcomer's innocent (or the DeadpanSnarker's not-so-innocent) observation, or even a {{Pun}} that somehow manages to be humorous despite the sheer stupidity of it (or maybe ''[[SoUnfunnyItsFunny because]]'' of its stupidity), though by all standards being really low hanging fruit, still makes for a surprisingly sharp and clever quip worth acknowledging, albeit often grudgingly.

Jokes may receive a positive reaction from unexpected people, whether it's someone who's initially reluctant to call it funny or someone who initially claimed it wasn't funny, and any joke that successfully CrossesTheLineTwice will naturally receive this reaction from people who would otherwise cry "DudeNotFunny". Occasionally, even the target of an insult can admire the sheer comedy value of the joke, in which case it can border on InsultBackfire. May go hand-in-hand with SelfDeprecation jokes.

A variation of this trope is when a character becomes the victim of a shenanigan that leaves them humiliated or inconvenienced. In any other situation, that character would want to strangle the life out of whoever was responsible for it. And yet they ''don't'', because said shenanigan is not only hilarious; it is so ballsy and outrageous that they not only end up being amused by [[RefugeInAudacity the sheer audacity of it]], but also ''impressed''. If you were in the shoes of an EvilOverlord with a reputation of having a bad temper, how would you react if someone put a whoopee cushion on your throne as a prank and made you look silly in front of your minions, only to find that it was the work of some plucky intruder who went through the trouble of infiltrating your [[SupervillainLair Fortress of Doom]], evading your elite guards, and dodging every booby trap along the way... ''all just to pull a silly prank on the one person [[TheDreaded that no sane man would want to piss off]]''. It would be hard to stay mad at the prankster, because it takes ''guts'' to pull a stunt like this.

Compare ActuallyAGoodIdea, NotSoAboveItAll, TheOneThingIDontHateAboutYou, {{Touche}}, NotBad, and CrossesTheLineTwice. Contrast ToughRoom; DudeNotFunny. Compare ''and'' contrast TooFunnyToBeEvil, where the target of the abuse does not see it as humorous but everyone else does. See also ActuallyQuiteCatchy for music and MexicansLoveSpeedyGonzales for ethnic stereotypes.
----
!!In general, this trope is Administrivia/InUniverseExamplesOnly, but RealLife examples are allowed if the target of the joke thought it was funny:

[[folder:Anime and Manga]]
* ''Manga/CallOfTheNight'': After Yamori buys a couple of wristwatch transceivers to stay in contact with Nazuna, he tells her that he bought another pair when he was younger and tried to come up with ways to play with it even though [[FriendlessBackground he had no friends]]. His solution was to hide one transceiver where someone could easily find it, then call them after the fact... only to get cold feet and not make the call after it was found. Nazuna finds the story [[SoUnfunnyItsFunny hysterically sad]] and [[{{corpsing}} tries hard to contain her laughter]], until Yamori shows her he's still carrying his old transceiver right now. At this point Nazuna can't hold it anymore and [[LaughThemselvesSick falls to her knees in laughter]] while [[SelfDeprecation Yamori agrees that it is pretty funny]].
* In ''Anime/CrossAnge'', Ange tells Hilda not to die, because the cell they're locked in will stink if she dies. Hilda laughs at the joke and asks how selfish Ange can be.
* ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'': Starmon's reaction to the Digimon Emperor (who he works for) being called an "Earth reject".
* In ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'', when Goku starts addressing Zen'O, the TopGod of all creation, in a very casual and friendly manner, most other characters (besides Zen'O himself, who's happy to make a friend) start ''freaking out'' at how inappropriate and rude he's being. On the other hand, Zen'O's retainer, the Grand Priest finds this all very amusing and is frequently seen trying to suppress a chuckle at Goku's antics. Even he has his limits though, as he tells Goku to cut it back and show a little decorum when Goku attends a gathering among the gods of all universes.
* In ''Anime/GirlsUndPanzer'', Yukari is caught infiltrating a rival school to spy on them right before their match. When she frantically identifies herself as [[Film/KellysHeroes Sgt Third Class Oddball]], Kay, the leader of the school, doubles over giggling in response and compliments her again the next day.
* ''Anime/GundamWing'': In the backstory, Duo Maxwell, who was a child at the time, caused a case of this with the Christian priest who raised him. At one point, he says he doesn't believe in God, because he's never seen a miracle, but he does believe in the God of Death, because he's seen a whole lot of dead people. While a nun reprimands him, the priest bursts out laughing and admits he can't fault that logic.
* ''Literature/HighSchoolDXD'': When here Issei starts going on and on about how his ideal life would be a peaceful one in which he gets to have sex with Rias every day, Kiba finally points out that Rias's elder brother Sirzechs (who also happens to be one of the most powerful devils alive) is in the room. Issei freezes in sheer terror, expecting a MySisterIsOffLimits reaction, but the camera shows that Sirzechs ('hiding' behind his chair) is desperately trying not to burst out laughing.
* ''Manga/KimiNiTodoke'' has an arc where someone is spreading rumors about Ayane and Chizuru. Most of them were rather unflattering, but there is one rumor that they both found hilarious where it is believed that [[MisunderstoodLoner Sawako]] is the mastermind of a gang and orders them around.
* ''Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa'': King Dedede starts his own TV channel and all the residents of Capi Town are obsessed with it, including [[TheStoic Meta Knight]], much to Tiff's horror.
-->"King Dedede may be a despicable dictator, but you got to admit he's got some funny schtick."
* In the fifth episode of ''Manga/KotouraSan'', Manabe gives Kotoura an embarrassing photo of Moritani, a girl that had recently befriended Kotoura after previously tormenting her. Kotoura tells Manabe off because giving that photo is a mean thing to do. Once alone though, she can't help but crack up and spends the whole of the next day trying ''not'' to around Moritani. She uses the photo as a pick-me-up at the episode's end after a failure in a relay race.
* ''Anime/LittleWitchAcademia2017'': In [[Recap/LittleWitchAcademia2017AkkosAdventureInSucyworld "Akko's Adventure in Sucyworld"]], Akko journeys into Sucy's subconscious and sees a movie composed of (Sucy's perception of) her memories. Several of these memories consist of her playing tricks on Akko, which offends Akko up until a memory plays of Sucy pulling the old BananaPeel gag on her, at which point Akko cracks up laughing.
* ''Anime/LupinIIIEpisode0FirstContact'': After refusing to shoot Jigen, Lupin tosses his gun to Galvez, who decides to shoot Lupin himself. [[spoiler:Turns out, Lupin had a trick-gun swapped out and the one he tossed to Galvez had a [[ExtendoBoxingGlove spring-loaded boxing glove]] in the back that punched Galvez in the face when he pulled the trigger.]] Lupin burst out laughing, and Jigen slowly broke out laughing as well.
* In ''Manga/MissKobayashisDragonMaid'', Kobayashi tells Tohru and Kanna (who were using their dragon powers to have a ''Anime/DragonBallZ''-esque battle) to play more on her level. They respond by hunching over and [[OwMyBodyPart complaining that their backs hurt]], imitating Kobayashi. She calls it mean, but then quietly admits that their impressions are spot-on.
* In ''Anime/MyOtome'', Haruka is laughing uproariously over Nao getting Natsuki arrested for indecent exposure [[ShowSomeLeg while trying to hitch a ride to Aries]], prompting Yukino to tell her that she's being rude. When Haruka shows Yukino the photo, however, Yukino briefly cracks a smile before quickly clearing her throat, as [[ImStandingRightHere Natsuki happens to be in the room with them]].
* ''Manga/OnePiece'':
** After an intense battle where Kaku has been extolling the virtues of his new giraffe transformation powers, he says that him being fired from the shipwright job of his cover identity is unfortunate, as it's hard for assassins to find other work. Zoro gets a chuckle out of him by suggesting the zoo.
** When Luffy challenges [[TheDreaded Whitebeard]], the WorldsStrongestMan, saying he'd have to go through ''Luffy'' to be Pirate King. (Keep in mind Whitebeard is worth 5.046 BILLION, and Luffy only 300 million). Cue Luffy standing his ground, ATruceWhileWeGawk from onlookers, and [[RefugeInAudacity Whitebeard himself being impressed]].
* ''Anime/SailorMoon'':
** At the start of Ami's introduction episode, Usagi is laughing her head off at a comic book. Her mother scolds her for the noise but then Usagi shows her the comic -- and she bursts out laughing too.
** Luna gets this a lot as well. Particularly when Artemis is having a bad day, she joins in with a good amount of the teasing too.
** At the end of the radio episode, Usagi is writing a love letter to Tuxedo Mask -- which Naru snatches off her. Miss Haruna comes into the room and -- rather than scolding Usagi for doing it during class -- chases the two around the room, just as excited to read the latter as Naru. The English dub changes this to [[DubNameChange Serena]] lying that it's homework -- which Haruna is still excited to see as Serena's notoriously lazy.
** Nephrite laughs when Naru asks if the Dark Kingdom gives its employees a few days off. She then joins him, admitting it sounds funny when you put it like that.
* In ''Manga/SaintSeiya'', [[spoiler:Saga, Shura, and Camus]] barely survived their battle with Shaka in which they were hit with his sensory deprivation technique four times, leaving them a sense each (with the loss of taste also paralyzing the tongue and preventing the victim from talking). Then they noticed that [[MonkeyMoralityPose one of them has only the sight, one has only hearing, and one has only taste]], and [[spoiler:Saga]] chuckles.
* ''Manga/SnowWhiteWithTheRedHair'' has Izana requiring his brother Zen to go on a date with one of his potential suitors. Zen [[ExactWords goes out with Kiki]], who is a noblewoman. Izana concedes that it was clever, and technically his own fault for not taking Kiki's name off of the list.

[[folder:Comic Strips]]
* One ''ComicStrip/CalvinAndHobbes'' [[http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1990/12/07 strip]] has Calvin [[CopycatMockery combing his hair, putting on his dad's glasses]], and marching up to his parents saying, "Calvin! Go do something you hate! [[MiseryBuildsCharacter Being miserable builds character]]!" Calvin's mom literally falls off her chair laughing, and his Dad, while annoyed, admits that "okay, the voice was a little funny".
* In ''ComicStrip/BloomCounty'', Oliver Wendel Jones' father is outside his room, telling him he got a call from the FBI that Oliver had programmed NASA's computers to have the Space Shuttle land in their neighbor's bean field. He breaks up in the Third Panel.
--> '''Dad:''' Actually, that's a pretty good one son...\
'''Oliver:''' ''[peeking out of his room]'' Yeah!\
'''Dad:''' BUT YOU'RE STILL IN BIG TROUBLE!!
* One comic from ''ComicStrip/TheFarSide'' has a chimpanzee find blonde hairs in her mate's fur and accusing him of "conducting a little more 'research' with that Jane Goodall tramp." The Jane Goodall Foundation went ballistic and there were even fears of a lawsuit, but shortly thereafter it was discovered that Dr. Goodall ''herself'' loved the cartoon, and was unaware of the ruckus. Gary Larson, the strip's creator, and Goodall then struck up a friendship, with Larson arranging for all profits from a T-shirt featuring that particular strip to be donated to the Foundation. Dr. Goodall even went on to write an introduction to one of the collections and praise Larson for his humor.
* ''ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse'':
** InUniverse. April once uses Elizabeth's bra as a slingshot and shoots koosh balls at the dog. Elly is too busy laughing to scold April immediately.
** In [[https://www.gocomics.com/forbetterorforworse/2008/10/26 another strip]], Michael and Lawrence pretend to be superheroes named [[ToiletHumour Burpman and Tootman]] and they start making rude noises. Elly gives them a brief lecture about how jokes like this are stupid and not funny. Then she goes into the kitchen and starts laughing her head off.
** Mrs. Kelpfroth admits that Michael's title of "Knock on the ceiling" when he wrote about them actually ''is'' pretty clever since that is what they are doing.
* ''Webcomic/GarfieldMinusGarfield''. When Davis got news of the strip, rather than send out the lawyers as one would expect, he actually thought it was ''VERY'' funny. [[ApprovalOfGod He not only allowed them to continue, but contributed to the edits, and even wrote an introduction for their book.]]
* One ''ComicStrip/PearlsBeforeSwine'' series features a miniature version of Newt Gingrich, who ends up getting eaten by the crocodiles. One of the treasuries mentions that Gingrich liked the series, but questioned the significance of his character dying. Pastis told him not to worry about it, as everyone in the strip dies sooner or later.
* In ''ComicStrip/{{Lio}}'', Lio’s dad ended up laughing at a cartoon that his son drew of his principal getting by some creature at the zoo. Too bad they were both still in the principal’s office when he was laughing at it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films — Animated]]
* From ''WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph'':
-->'''King Candy:''' ''[pulls a pair of glasses out of nowhere and puts them on]'' [[YouWouldntHitAGuyWithGlasses You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you?]] ''[Ralph takes off Candy's glasses and breaks them over Candy's head]'' You hit a guy ''[[AmbiguousSyntax with glasses]]''. That's... well-played.
* The bloopers reel of ''WesternAnimation/TheLegoMovie'' has Emmet laughing at something, which annoys Batman. Emmet responds by saying that he laughs at everything, and Batman admits that the laugh was actually good.
-->'''Batman''': Man, your laugh is making me... actually, it's a pretty good laugh.\
'''Emmet''': Well then, you're not gonna hear it anymore.
* In the animated black comedy film ''WesternAnimation/BebesKids'' during a confrontation in the woman's bathroom between Robin and Dorthea, they start cracking YourMom jokes. The "fight" ends when Robin fires off one that makes Dorthea's friend Vivian crack up.
-->'''Dorthea:''' That's OK, yo mama so dumb she thought a quarterback was a refund! \
'''Robin:''' Well ain't that a little... yo mama so dumb, they told her it was chilly outside, she went and got a bowl! \
'''Vivian:''' ''[cracks up]''
* ''WesternAnimation/Klaus2019'': Jesper tells Klaus about who one of the children in town misinterpreted the wheel-less carriage being ramped into the air as "a flying sleigh being pulled by magical reindeer". To Jesper's surprise, Klaus actually laughs, going from small to being so loud and heartily that he does the iconic "ho, ho, ho" as a result.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{The Lion King|1994}}'':
** Zazu and Mufasa are discussing what should be done about Scar; Zazu suggests that he'd make a handsome throw rug. Mufasa playfully chastises him, but Zazu continues that they could take him outside and beat him when he got dirty. Mufasa can't help but laugh.
** During their FallingInLoveMontage, Simba playfully pulls Nala into the lake they were just drinking from. She emerges gasping for air and immediately gets out, looking absolutely ''[[CatsHateWater terrified]]''. When Simba gets out next to her and grins at her though, she smirks at him in amusement at his joke and ridiculous appearance... before shoving him back in the water as revenge and running off.
* At the end of ''WesternAnimation/CaptainUnderpantsTheFirstEpicMovie'', [[spoiler:Mr. Krupp, now in a good mood gives George and Harold their comics back and admits that while they're juvenile he did find them funny]].
* ''WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatians'':
** Roger and Anita laugh following the MeetCute scene when Anita tries to wipe herself dry with a handkerchief, only to find it's sodden, to which Roger offers his own handkerchief, which is soaked as well.
** Pongo enjoys Roger's [[TheVillainSucksSong song]] and impression of "Cruella De Vil" after she barges in and asks about Perdita's unborn puppies. Anita tries to put on an [[invoked]] DudeNotFunny front since she's trying to be civil to Cruella but eventually she breaks down giggling offscreen when Roger waltzes with her to the melody.
* Early in ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsonsMovie'' we have Homer and Bart putting shingles on the house, and when Homer prepares to nail in the last few shingles, he ends up [[EyeScream nailing himself in the eye with]] [[AmusingInjuries the hammer he was using]], and when Bart laughs at him, Homer does admit that it was funny. Doesn't stop Homer from strangling Bart anyway for laughing.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Zootopia}}'':
** When Judy turns Nick's "It's called a hustle, sweetheart" back at him in an effort to enlist his help with a case, Nick's partner-in-embezzlement Finnick breaks down laughing and takes off to leave them to work.
** When Judy and Nick are getting help from Bellwether, who is a sheep, Nick asks Judy if she counts herself to fall asleep. Judy can't help but snicker when she tells him to shush.
** [[spoiler: At the end when Nick and Judy are getting their first assignment, Nick states that Bogo should have a line of inspirational greeting cards, which causes the rest of the officers in the room to chuckle.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Up}}'': [[spoiler:Muntz]] finds it hilarious that Carl and Russell came to Paradise Falls in a floating house held up by balloons.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Brave}}'': During the archery tournament, Fergus and Merida exchange quips about the princes and their performance. Elinor tells them to knock it off, but you can see her smirking.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Game Shows]]
* ''Series/{{Taskmaster}}'':
** One episode has the task "Completely Erase This Eraser". Joe Thomas actually ''does'' completely erase his eraser using sandpaper, but it takes him over 19 minutes to do it. Everyone else "erases" the eraser by flushing it down the toilet or throwing it in the bush, arguing things like "[[LoopholeAbuse they erased it from society]]" or "[[ExactWords it's function as an eraser is erased since it can't be used as an eraser anymore]]". Joe gets only 1 point, despite ''actually erasing it'', while everyone else gets more, which elicits a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech from him aimed at the other contestants. Everyone is so genuinely amused, Greg and Alex included, that they give him a standing ovation and 3 bonus points.
--->'''Joe:''' I'm just so fed up of putting in like loads and loads of genuinely physical effort into the task, and then these other people have some swanky work-around! Put some fucking effort in!!!\
'''({{Beat}})'''\
'''Joe:''' I don't know where that's coming from I'm really sorry.
** Another has "Find The Sock With A Satsuma In It", which is won by Rhod Gilbert by simply ''putting his own satsuma in a sock and "finding" it''. James Acaster utterly snaps and accuses the titular Taskmaster of bias toward Rhod, going off on such a genuinely hilarious rant that amuses Greg so much actually docks 1 point from Rhod.
--->'''Taskmaster:''' You gotta admit that's clever.\
'''James:''' Oh! Funny who you're willing to bend for! Joe, I can't believe this shit! Oh "blah blah blah muh friend!"\
'''Kerry:''' Yeah!\
'''Taskmaster:''' ''Ohhhhhh...'' I've never been accused of bias before! And ''you'' got two points for that hula-hoop bullshit!\
'''James:''' [[SarcasmMode Oh, that felt so good! Oh, please give me another two points for the hula-hoop!]] ''Give me 8 weeks of my life back!'' How does ''that'' sound?!\
'''Rhod:''' James, do you remember how I backed you on the hula-hoop thing? I was right behind you!\
'''James:''' Yeah, well now you can back into a satsuma and shove it up your ass!\
'''Rhod:''' This has taken a ''very'' nasty turn...
** During Series 10's "Best thing that probably has a spring in it", Greg gives Richard Herring's bootleg penguin game "Runing Fun" 3 points, and even admits he wanted to give it more but had to stick with that, despite it not even having a spring in it, solely because he ''greatly'' enjoyed Richard's impression of the awful, canned, repetitive music the thing makes.
--->'''Richard:''' [[https://youtu.be/n3WTY-7-m0s?t=172 It plays this awful music, it goes "E̶G̸H̵ ̶E̷G̷H̸ ̷E̷G̴H̵ ̵E̵G̸H̶ ̸E̴G̶G̴H̷H̶ ̸E̶G̷G̴H̴H̶H̷ E̷͚̕Ǧ̵ͅḨ̶̏ ̵͚͛E̸̘͊G̴̝̎H̶͓̾ ̷͉̍E̶̟̾G̸͍͑H̵̗̿ ̵̼͆E̸̜̿G̷̱̾H̸͓͒ ̵̪̽Ḛ̷͒G̴̝͗Ġ̴̣H̸̨̏H̴̬͑ ̷̦͑E̵͉͐G̵̻̀G̴̬͋Ḥ̸͠H̴̰͑Ḩ̶͆ WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" on and on, never-ending, until the blessed release of death!]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jokes]]
* An old Soviet joke uses this trope as the punchline:
-->A man needed to travel to Moscow in order to take care of some government business. Having to stop at night at an inn, the man asks if there's any room available -- the clerk replies that there is a free bed, but it's in a room with three other people. Seeing no other choice, the traveler takes the bed. \
As it turns out, the three other men in the room know each other very well and are traveling together, wanting to drink and carouse late into the night. The traveler wants nothing else but to get some sleep, but the men keep him awake, telling loudly ribald tales and joking disparagingly about the government. Having heard tales about microphones hidden in rooms, the traveler grows a bit concerned about people listening in, but nothing seems to stop the men from going on and on.\
Then, the man gets an idea. He sneaks out of his bed, unseen by the others, and goes to the front desk, asking if he can have some tea sent to the room. The clerk responds that yes, it will take about 20 minutes. "Perfect," says the man, and he asks for tea to be sent up. The traveler slips back into the room and makes to join the raucous group.\
After 10 minutes have passed, as well as a few more jokes about the government, the traveler asks the others if they'd like to see a trick. Quite inebriated and mirthful, the men agree. The traveler stands up, walks over to one of the lamps in the room and says to the lamp, "Comrade Captain, would you have some tea sent up?" This gets a roar of laughter from the other men, and the traveler smiles as he comes back to the table, and listens to more stories.\
That is, until, right on cue, there is a knock on the door, and a woman comes in with tea, ready for drinking. This sobers the men right up, as they "realize" the truth about how they were being listened to. All four of them drink tea in silence, only the traveler gently smiling, knowing what had happened. After the tea is consumed, all four men retire to bed.\
The next morning, the traveler wakes to discover that the three other men had disappeared. Their beds are slept in, but their things are gone. Wide awake at the realization, the traveler runs to the front desk and asks what happened to the three other men in his room. When the clerk stammers out, "I know nothing about that!" -- an obvious lie -- the truth is confirmed to the traveler: While he slept, the other three men must have been taken by the secret police. As a chill runs down his spine, the traveler says to himself, "But why not me?" This was loud enough for the clerk to overhear, and he responds helpfully: "Well, Comrade Captain thought the bit with the tea was a riot."
* In Creator/JohnMulaney's Stand-Up special "The Comeback Kid", he describes a time where, when he was a child, he and his three siblings were were on a road trip to his grandparents’ house. As they got closer, the kids started getting rowdy because they were hungry, but their dad wouldn't stop anywhere because they were almost there. This culminated in the children chanting, "UsefulNotes/McDonalds!" over and over to bug him into stopping there. Their dad, being a lawyer focused on people’s ExactWords, pulled into a [=McDonald’s=] to the cheers of the children... and only ordered one black coffee (which John called "the only thing on the entire menu no child would like") for himself and drove off. John admits that, while it made him mad then, as an adult it's the funniest thing he's ever seen.
* Somewhat mixing with meta and inversion, there is a standard joke in dictatorial regimes which goes around "X has good humor -- he collects the jokes made about him!" "So does Y -- only he also collects the people that make the jokes!"
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mythology]]
* [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greek Mythology]]: Zeus was amused by Hermes' pranks and antics, but because they interfered with the duties of the other Gods he couldn't allow them to continue. Zeus made Hermes the messenger of the Gods to keep him out of trouble.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* "[[Music/ShiaLaBeoufLive Shia LaBeouf]]" by Rob Cantor is about evading, and ultimately defeating, "actual cannibal Creator/ShiaLaBeouf".[[note]]As far as we know, not actually a cannibal.[[/note]] The live video featuring special guest musicians and extended lyrics ends with [[spoiler: [=LaBeouf=] himself, alone in the empty theater, delivering a ''Film/CitizenKane'' clap in appreciation before looking around uncomfortably and sitting back down]].
* Music/WeirdAlYankovic deliberately aims for this trope in his many, ''many'' parodies; he makes it a point to ask each artist he's mocking for permission to use their songs, even though it's not necessary (U.S. law protects parodies from copyright issues), as a sign that his work is all in good fun. Most musicians respond positively; Music/MichaelJackson, in particular, was a huge fan of Yankovic, and loved his material so much that he even gave the comedian permission to recreate the music video for "Bad" -- right down to [[ParodyAssistance letting Yankovic use the same set -- for the parody]] "Fat." It's also worth noting that if a musician ''doesn't'' feel comfortable about the jokes, Yankovic won't make the song: for example, Jackson thought the parody of "Black and White" (titled "Snack All Night") didn't work because of the song's serious message of racial tolerance, and Yankovic agreed not to perform it.
** "Smells Like Nirvana" is another good example because the parody is actually ''about'' Music/{{Nirvana}}, about [[SomethingSomethingLeonardBernstein how you can't understand what they're singing]] and the song will bug your parents. Music/KurtCobain immediately agreed to let Yankovic use the song and declared that being asked was a sign that Nirvana had become successful.
** "Perform This Way," a parody of Music/LadyGaga's "Born This Way," is another example.
** Despite Al viewing it as CreatorBacklash, Music/BillyJoel loved "It's Still Billy Joel to Me" and has performed it live.
* Music/AlanisMorissette released [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W91sqAs-_-g this parody]] of Music/TheBlackEyedPeas's "My Humps" in 2007, poking fun at the overly sexual nature of the song. [[Website/{{Wikipedia}} The Other Wiki]] reports that Music/{{Fergie}} absolutely loved the alt rocker's version, and sent Morissette a posterior-shaped cake to show her appreciation.
* The Music/BarenakedLadies song "The Humor of the Situation" is about a man caught cheating by his partner. He drives home to find all his stuff thrown out onto the lawn. He apparently tries to go talk to her but it turns out he's still naked somehow, so the neighbor uses the hose on him. The chorus is just him admitting the situation is kind of hilarious despite the humiliation.
* Music/TheWho's song "[[Music/WhosNext My Wife]]" is about a husband who's spent the weekend in prison, and is now going to cartoonish lengths to escape his angry wife. When the songwriter, John Entwistle's wife heard it, she thought it was hilarious.
* One of the more memetic lines from [[Music/{{Metallica}} Lu]][[Music/LouReed lu]] is "I am the Table", sung by James Hetfield. However, Hetfield actually finds jokes about it hilarious, and since he has no control over it, he might as well laugh at it.
* The grindcore band Music/AnalCunt once made a song called "Locking Dropdead in [=McDonald's=]", which lampoons the veganism and animal rights advocacy of hardcore punk band Dropdead. One day, the two bands met in person, near an actual [=McDonald's=], and Dropdead actually agreed to join in a [[https://www.last.fm/music/Dropdead/+images/d2855b57f0e444b4aa895fec02a85e2c photoshoot re-enacting the song title.]]
* Music/MichaelJackson had a song called ''Dirty Diana'', about a groupie called Diana who slept with members of music bands to get famous. A while after the song's release, Princess Diana happened to be present at one of his concerts. Being afraid that the Princess would be offended, he took it out of the performance. However, Diana's reaction when he told her that was to tell him that it was her favorite song and insisted that he played it. It was too late by that time to put the song back, though, so he couldn't sing it at that concert, but he performed it normally in later concerts.
* Music/MojoNixon released a song entitled "Don Henley Must Die" -- and Don Henley showed up at a concert to perform it with him.
* The 2019 Super Bowl halftime performance of Music/Maroon5 was something of a FountainOfMemes, and among them was a comparison to Bleeding Through vocalist Brandan Schieppati, whose own heavily tattooed appearance was, all things considered, quite similar to Adam Levine's. Schieppati was amused by the memes and shared several of them.
* Music/{{Eminem}}, whose career is built on [[InsultComic insulting everyone]], has had many, many examples:
** Music/DrDre:
*** "Guilty Conscience", a duet with Dre, has the lyric "You wanna take advice from somebody who slapped Dee Barnes?" Em was worried that Dre would take offence to this. Upon hearing it, Dre apparently laughed so hard he nearly fell out of his chair.
*** Eminem often subjects Dre to pointless MuseAbuse for laughs. He's murdered Dre in "The Real Slim Shady" and "Criminal", claimed they're gay lovers in "My Dad's Gone Crazy", and generally does stuff that nobody else would be able to get away with. Dre, though he tends to play the beleaguered straight man to Eminem's antics, finds it hilarious.
** Music/EltonJohn is probably the most significant example of this in a career full of it, stating the ironic homophobic jokes in ''Music/TheMarshallMathersLP'' appealed to his 'English sense of humour', much to the outcry of GLAAD and other LGBT organisations who reacted as if he was defending a real-life gaybasher. Elton duetted "Stan" with Eminem at the Grammys, quelling the mass protests around homophobia that surrounded Em, for which Eminem was grateful, noting in one of his songs that Elton "played Career Russian Roulette". In 2008, Eminem called Elton for emotional support when recovering from his drug addiction, leading to them becoming almost family... and resulting in Elton ending up the target of many ''extraordinarily'' homophobic jokes, both in his songs and out of them, because if Elton thinks they're funny, so should everyone else.
** This once saved Eminem $1m in one of the many times he was sued for defamation of character for his MuseAbuse. In his song "Brain Damage", Eminem gives an [[HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood exaggerated]], fictionalised account of a scenario where his school bully, Deangelo Bailey, beat him so hard that it gave him brain damage. (The incident in the song was a combination of two separate incidents, and includes plenty of implausible details.) Bailey was interviewed about the song in 1999 by ''Rolling Stone'', and responded that he was delighted by the shoutout and that his kids would put on the song and laugh and cheer when Eminem said his name. When Bailey, several years later, attempted to sue Eminem for $1m for defamation of character, the judge took into account in her decision that Bailey had been ''pleased'' about the reference in ''Rolling Stone'' a couple of years ago, and granted Eminem summary disposition. [[https://sglyric.com/songs/4333065/court-ruling-rap-of-deangelo-baileys-lawsuit-against-eminem-by-deborah-servitto In a rap.]]
--->Yet when Bailey actually spoke to the press\
What do you think he didn't address?\
Those false light charges that so disturbed\
Prompted from Bailey not a single word\
So highly objectionable, it could not be\
--Bailey was happy to hear his name on a CD
** Music/BritneySpears never had anything negative to say about Eminem despite him dissing her in "The Real Slim Shady" and (more nastily) in "Marshall Mathers" - and, later, [[MurderBallad describing murdering her]] in "Same Song And Dance". She said in person he was a 'really cool, sweet guy' and got that it was just his sense of humour. She was even papped wearing Eminem merchandise in the mid-2000s and praised his Super Bowl show in 2022, saying that when she was 17, she adored everything about him. (All of this is in contrast to Music/ChristinaAguilera, who was hurt by the admittedly much nastier diss of her on "The Real Slim Shady".)
** Music/ChrisKirkpatrick of Music/{{NSYNC}} was delighted to get told "''you can git yer ass kicked!''" in "Without Me", because it was his favourite rapper namechecking him in one of his best songs, and also because he was highly impressed by the fact Eminem had [[LeastRhymableWord been able to find a perfect rhyme for "Chris Kirkpatrick"]].
** Music/{{Moby}} has been known to perform in a "''nobody listens to techno''" tshirt and has the threatening cartoons that Eminem gave to him at the 2002 [=VMA=]s [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Eminem/comments/ubvl8a/artworks_of_slim_shady_assaulting_moby_drawn_by/ framed on his wall]].
** Eminem has a strange friendship with Creator/ParisHilton as the result of him casually insulting her in a chat show ("I love Paris almost as much as she loves herself"). He felt bad about it afterwards, as she'd never done or said anything negative about him, and apologised - in response, Paris revealed she was a huge fan of his and was delighted by the opportunity to be made fun of by him. She later turned up in the music video for "Just Lose It", getting to punch Slim Shady in the stomach (as well as kissing and stroking his "beautiful face" in the behind-the-scenes video), and she's stayed his loyal Stan for life, furiously defending Eminem's album ''Revival'' online when this was a rather minority opinion.
** Music/HilaryDuff was thrilled with Slim rapping about [[JailbaitWait her not being quite old enough yet]] on "Ass Like That".
** Creator/KimKardashian was apparently highly amused by Eminem accusing her of being a man on "We Made You", and delighted by the shoutout. She even went on Shade 45 to talk about how excited she was - feeling that being insulted by Eminem was a rite of passage for celebrities that (due to Eminem's hiatus) she'd thought she'd never get to experience.
** Rosie O'Donnell was excited to get a reference in ''Relapse'' ("''mosey on over to Rosie O'Donnell's with [=McDonald's=]/ jump on her lap then watch'' ''Series/TheSopranos''"), praising him as a genius and a brilliant father, and telling him, "Marshall, my lap is open!"
** Ronda Rousey was flattered by the lyric in "SHADYXV" in which Slim insists he is so cold that even if Ronda Rousey is shaking 'her flat little badonkadonk' in his face, he would find it as appealing as if it was the fat guy in Slaughterhouse.
** In "The Ringer", Eminem raps "I'm off the chain like Kala Brown", referencing the only known survivor of the serial killer Todd Kohlhepp, who was raped daily and kept chained in a shipping container. When asked about it, Kala Brown said she understood [[VulgarHumor Eminem's style of humour]], that she found it funny, and that she hoped that it would help people remember her struggle.
* Filipino-Chinese singer Music/JoseMariChan became a [[FountainOfMemes staple of memes]] in recent years, largely due to the enduring success of his 1990 Christmas album which has since been a yearly tradition -- so much so that public establishments such as shopping centres play "Christmas In Our Hearts" as early as September. He did acknowledge this and found the jokes rather funny, but [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1BDPNy0mpI remarked]] that some of the memes were [[DudeNotFunny crossing the line]] especially as he views the song in question as "a gift from Our Lord," never to be trivialised or made irreverent.
* Youtube user Paranoidave posted a series of 'reinterpretation' videos taking the piss out of various songs by bands he hated, featuring Mondegreens of the lyrics and accompanying images. One of the most popular ones featured the Music/{{Trivium}} song 'Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr' (video [[https://youtu.be/gwFzPMLhIvw here]]). Singer Matt Heafy [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osu6kczLqbA saw the funny side of it]], and mentioned that fans at Trivium's gigs would hold up signs saying 'BOAT RUDDER STRANGE MOUNTAIN' [[note]]Paranoidave's interpretation of the line 'Pull, harder, strings, martyr'[[/note]]. Heafy also referred to it on his [[https://www.instagram.com/p/BI8DyLLAfOj/ Instagram]].
* Someone in Pepsi's legal department actually ended up listening to the album ''Dispepsi'' by Music/{{Negativland}}. They responded with "It's no ''Music/{{Odelay}}'', but it's quite a good listen." This came as a relief to Negativland who were afraid that Pepsi would sue them as the album samples a lot of Pepsi commercials and constantly repeats the brands name.
* Christopher Cross voiced his approval for a ''The Onion'' article giving an epilogue to his 1980 hit "Ride Like the Wind".
* In ''[[Music/{{Songdrops}} The Duck Song]]'' the titular duck pesters a lemonade stand owner every day to ask for grapes. After getting thoroughly fed up with explaining that all he sells is lemonade, day in and day out, he finally threatens to glue said duck to a tree if he asks for grapes again. The next day the duck asks for glue, and when the man says he doesn't have any, ''then'' the duck asks for grapes. This makes the man burst out laughing and offer to take the duck to the store to get him some grapes.

[[folder:Podcasts]]
* ''Podcast/DecoderRingTheatre'':
** ''Podcast/BlackJackJustice''
*** Jack and Trixie are VitriolicBestBuds to the point that no conversation between them can pass without ''some'' bickering and there is a BottleEpisode that consists exclusively of them arguing. One thing that can make it hard to separate the vitriol from good-natured ribbing is that one will often acknowledge a particularly good shot from the other with a "Nice" or by noting "It's probably true, but you still shouldn't say it."
*** Trixie carries a small pistol strapped to her leg as a surprise weapon. Only in her PrivateEyeMonologue will Trixie admit that she thinks Jack's nickname for it, the Mousetrap, is funny.
** ''Podcast/RedPandaAdventures'': CardCarryingVillain the Mad Monkey genuinely likes it when the Red Panda and Flying Squirrel call him things like "Sinister Simian" or "Babbling Baboon". His first encounter with the heroes in the episode "Monkeyshines" has him complementing such lines while becoming furious when the Red Panda insists on using the Monkey's real name.
* In ''Podcast/TheFallenGods'', Delilah considers the party's plans to reunite her and her sister Missandere (such as stuffing them in a get-along shirt or disguising Delilah as Groucho Marx) rather amusing, though totally ineffectual.
* ''Podcast/PokemonWorldTourUnited:''
** During Cobalt's gym battle with Kent, Rose gets fed up with the HurricaneOfPuns everyone else is throwing around and flips off the camera broadcasting the fight. Right after, Rose's Togepi, Scramble, imitates the gesture. Kent states that, while he can not condone the act, it ''was'' adorable.
** In episode 53, Jake describes Rose's outfit for the day as "tough and cool", prompting the GM, Alan, to ask if that makes Rose a "tool". Jake admits Alan got him with that, as he walked right into it.
* ''Podcast/TheMagnusArchives'' episode 180, while walking through an absolutely haunted cemetary, Martin and Jon make jokes about playing I Spy. As they're both laughing, a nearby tomb can also be heard laughing in a deep rumble.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Professional Wrestling]]
* Wrestling/MickFoley ''finally'' gets [[Wrestling/DwayneJohnson The Rock]] back for all the years of "It doesn't matter!" During a promo in 2000, Foley tells Rock he's in the upper echelon of Wrestling/{{WWE}} Champions, and asks how it makes him feel. Rock barely gets a word out before Foley bellows '''"IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW IT MAKES YOU FEEL!"''' Foley promptly runs around the ring celebrating, and Rock can't help but chuckle at that one.
* Wrestling/JohnBradshawLayfield, around Wrestling/WrestleMania 29, was defending [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain Zeb Colter]] and Wrestling/JackSwagger's views to anyone who would listen, but then Wrestling/JerryLawler commented on Colter: "Somebody needs to tell him WesternAnimation/YosemiteSam [[XCalledTheyWantTheirYBack wants his mustache back]]!" prompting JBL to say, "I gotta admit, that was pretty funny, King."
* ''Series/TotalDivas'':
** Wrestling/{{Nat|alyaNeidhart}}tie gets drunk and [[https://youtu.be/UzyPcRQ1-S8 leaves several voicemails]] for Wrestling/StephanieMcMahon. When she goes to meet Stephanie, she replays the messages in front of Nattie. When it comes to "I'm not wearing any underwear and I'm ready to ride" Stephanie clearly finds them funny.
** In the season 2 premiere Nattie and [[Wrestling/{{Cameron}} Ariane]] get into a drunken argument outside a club. A cop comes up to them and tells them they'll be arrested if they get too rowdy. After he leaves, the two go inside and burst out laughing.
* At the start of the Wrestling/TessaBlanchard-Sonya Strong [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeI3CSmkh4g match]] at ''WWR Adios Aurora'' on September 9, 2017, Sonya noticed that the fans were cheering for Tessa and said that she knew Tessa had two daddies[[note]]Her biological father Tully Blanchard and her stepfather Wrestling/{{Magnum TA}}[[/note]], and that she was going to be her third. Tessa couldn't help but laugh at that.
* Wrestling/JimNeidhart faced Wrestling/MartyJannetty at Wrestling/{{ECW}}'s July 28, 1995 event in Middletown, NY, and laughed when the fans chanted "WE WANT [[Wrestling/BretHart BRET]]!"
* Upon debuting in [[Wrestling/AllEliteWrestling AEW]], Wrestling/SamoaJoe's first match was against Wrestling/TheAcclaimed's Max Caster, known for performing diss raps against his opponents in his entrance. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOJceLZTSyQ Joe's reaction to Max's bars]]? An impressed nod as if to say "yeah, he's got a point".
* During a meeting with the Bloodline, Wrestling/SamiZayn explains to Wrestling/RomanReigns that the reason Jey Uso snapped over not wanting to make peace was because he hasn't been "very ucey". Reigns is in utter disbelief that his cousin has lost his "inner ucey".
* [[Wrestling/RonKillings R-Truth]] is known to make practically ''everyone'' he meets corpse, but his true test was when he made ''Brock Lesnar'', of all wrestlers, crack. In a promo on WWE RAW leading to the 2020 Royal Rumble, Truth arrives by stating he is going to enter the Royal Rumble and vows to throw the big man over the top rope...''Paul Heyman!'' Lesnar is literally unable to stop laughing/smiling after that. Even better is that Truth would later state in an interview that the promo was actually a bet to see whether or not Truth could make Lesnar break character.
** In January 2024, he makes a PSA with how he and Wrestling/TheJudgmentDay have an unbreakable bond, to which Damian Priest and Wrestling/DominikMysterio have to resist the urge to laugh.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theatre]]
* ''Theatre/{{Hamilton}}'':
** Burr mentions that Martha Washington named her feral tomcat after Hamilton because he was such a ladies man. Hamilton acknowledges the anecdote with a smile.
** Jefferson can't help but clap during the First Cabinet debate when Hamilton does a dance about Jefferson doing "whatever it is you do at Monticello". Then again, as he and a smug Madison put it, Hamilton's arguments for a bank is futile since he doesn't "have the votes".
* A slightly different version: In a production of ''Theatre/ThoroughlyModernMillie'', after Millie reads back Mrs. Meers's monologue and proving she has enough evidence to [[spoiler: send Meersie to prison]], Mrs. Meers looks at the audience and says "You can clap, that was good."
* In ''Theatre/SeventeenSeventySix'', Ben Franklin compares being called an Englishman to "calling an ox a bull -- he's grateful for the honor, but he'd rather have back what's rightfully his." Dickinson comes back with "When did you first notice they were missing, sir?" to which Franklin laughs the loudest.[[note]]Ironically, this is because Franklin's actor in the film version, Howard da Silva, wanted to preserve Franklin's "win" of the exchange by showing he was a better sport about it.[[/note]]
* At the beginning of ''Theatre/WestSideStory'', Riff and the Jets laugh when Bernardo, the leader of their hated rivals, insolently asks Lieutenant Schrank to translate his dressing-down of the gangs into Spanish.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/BaldursGateII'' Pull off the triple cross that lets you get both the drow leaders killed, and the demon they summoned will let you go. He's still annoyed as hell at being summoned for no reason, but considers watching you betray both your employers to be worth the price of admission.
* ''VideoGame/BaldursGateIII'': During her quest to save Minsc, Jaheira will lament foolish mistakes she's made and blame it on how old she's gotten. If you respond by saying she's not old (she's ''ancient'') then she will have a hearty laugh at the quip, gain approval and then affectionately call you a bastard.
* ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'':
** A rather tragic example in ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity''. [[spoiler: [[Characters/BatmanTheJoker The Joker]] is dying, having accidentally knocked the only cure for the after-effects of Titan serum out of Batman's hands. As he lies on the floor wasting away, Batman tells him]]:
--->'''Batman:''' Do you want to know something funny? [[spoiler:Even after everything you've done... ''[[SaveTheVillain I would have saved you]]''.]]\
'''Joker:''' (''Laughing'') That actually is... pretty funny! [[spoiler:(''Dies'')]]
** In the climax of ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamOrigins'', the Joker forces Batman to break his "no killing" rule by attaching a heart monitor to Bane that charges up an electric chair with every beat that the Joker is sitting in, and it can't be removed without exploding, so to save the Joker (and also Gordon, who the Joker takes hostage), Batman has to kill Bane, or be killed himself. [[spoiler:He manages to ''technically'' kill Bane by using his shock gloves to temporarily stop Bane's heart, tricking the Joker into thinking Bane's dead, and then restarting it a few minutes later, [[TakeAThirdOption so that no one has to die]].]] When Batman tells Joker his little game failed, his smile drops and he says "that's ''not'' funny'', but he changes his mind later.
--->'''Joker:''' ''(giggling)'' Stopped his heart... that ''is'' funny! Good one, Bats!
* In ''VideoGame/{{Battletech}}'', Commander Markham started using the nickname "Bob Kurita" for Reynald Yamaguchi, one of his [[QuestGiver mercenary liaisons]], in order to unbalance the latter during negotiations. After a while, Yamaguchi began finding the nickname genuinely funny and Sumire [[InsultOfEndearment will still occasionally refer to him as "Bob" during conversations]].
* ''VideoGame/Cyberpunk2077'': One of the sidequests in ''Phantom Liberty'' leads you to rescue two cops from a drug-gang. However, at the end of the quest the leader of the gang shows up and corners you. Provided you didn't kill anyone, the leader will let you go, stating that the story of the two "Keystone Kops"-wannabes' antics is worth way more than the relatively paltry sum of money they owed.
* In ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry3DantesAwakening'', Dante and Arkham's meeting in the bowels of hell has Dante remark that Arkham needs some hobbies over messing with the Sparda family's issues. Arkham starts laughing at this with Dante joining him shortly after, but both for different reasons: Dante at his own joke and Arkham over how much power that meddling has given him (and how he plans on making Dante eat those words in a second).
* In ''Videogame/DiscoElysium'', your first interaction with [[FemmeFatale Klassje]] has a Suggestion check to attempt to flirt with her. Failing it causes your character to blankly stare at her while grunting out "[[DoYouWantToCopulate I want to have fuck with you.]]" This causes Klassje to burst into laughter, even asking you to say it again just for her.
* In ''Videogame/DivinityOriginalSinII'':
** There's a Pro-Royalist song about Beast, a disgraced noble-turned-pirate, falling out with his cousin Queen Justinia and being kicked out of her court. When Beast hears the song himself, he thinks it has some clever lyrics and that overall it's too funny to get mad at.
** If you play as anyone with the Jester tag or Lohse (who also has the Jester tag), sometimes you can say some non-sequiturs. People are often annoyed, but on occasion they might actually give some sign they thought what you said was amusing.
* ''Franchise/DragonAge'', being home to a lot of DeadpanSnarker characters, is abundant with this trope.
** From ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins,'' when Morrigan happens to ask Alistair about his training:
--->'''Morrigan:''' So I take it you did not enjoy your Templar training?\
'''Alistair:''' That's directed at me, I take it?\
'''Morrigan:''' Do you see any others about who have failed at their religious instruction?\
'''Alistair:''' I didn't fail -- I was recruited into the Grey Wardens.\
'''Morrigan:''' And if you had not been recruited? What would have happened, instead?\
'''Alistair:''' [''completely deadpan''] I would have turned into a drooling lunatic, slaughtered the grand cleric and run through the streets of Denerim in my small clothes, I guess.\
'''Morrigan:''' [''amused''] Your self-awareness does you credit.\
'''Alistair:''' I ''thought'' you'd like that.
** Alistair in general tends to approve when you engage in SnarkToSnarkCombat with him. In once instance, having already told you he's a HeroicBastard, he'll admit his father was [[spoiler:King Maric]]. Quipping "So you're not just a bastard, you're a royal bastard" will get a chuckle from him and have him muse he should use that line.
** ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition'':
*** A female Inquisitor who's dating Sera will at one point get a quest where they go around asking other party members what kind of gift Sera might like, as she places no value in material possessions. Vivienne, who despises Sera and sees her as crass and uncultured, sarcastically suggests the Inquisitor shave an inappropriate word into her pubic hair. If you actually do it, Sera finds it absolutely hilarious and is even more amused when she learns it was Vivienne's idea.
*** If the Inquisitor romances [[HugeGuyTinyGirl the Iron Bull]], there will be a scene where Cullen, Josephine, and Cassandra (in that order) walk in on Bull naked. Cullen is naturally mortified, but snickers when Bull makes a joke about the Inquisitor being the one "[[LampshadedDoubleEntendre taking it]]" in response to Cassandra's fumbling.
*** When Varric tries to needle the Iron Bull for getting winded in a fight, he has to laugh and concede to Iron Bull's retort:
---->''"Hey, some of us have to swing a giant hunk of metal instead of pulling [[ICallItVera our girlfriend's]] trigger from the back ranks."''
*** When Sera asks about Cassandra's [[OverlyLongName long name]] and how she remembers it, Cassandra says she has it sewn into her clothes. Sera will snicker about how that won't fit on her breeches, Cassandra will laugh along.
*** The credits sequence of the ''Trespasser'' DLC includes a voiceover of Cassandra reading excerpts of the book Varric wrote about the game's events, providing commentary, and doing hilariously bad impressions of the other characters. Near the end, she gets quite upset at not seeing herself anywhere, until she finds herself in the story... begging Varric for forgiveness for her behavior in the previous game's framing device. Instead of being offended (since that obviously did not happen), Cassandra is ''delighted'' to see herself in the book and declares that she is "going to read the shit out of this!"
* In ''VideoGame/FateGrandOrder'', Archer of Shinjuku ([[spoiler:[[Literature/SherlockHolmes James Moriarty]]]]) has the moniker [[spoiler: "The Napoleon of Crime"]]... much to the amusement of the ''actual'' Napoleon, who is a fellow Archer-class servant in the game.
* In ''VideoGame/GodOfWarPS4'', after one sidequest turns sour, Atreus tells his father to go ahead and say "IToldYouSo", briefly imitating Kratos' voice as he says "You are naive, foolish boy." Kratos is clearly trying to hold back laughter as he tells his son to just consider it a lesson.
* In ''VideoGame/HouseOfAshes'', there is as much hostility between Jason and Salim owing to them being on opposing armies [[TeethClenchedTeamwork (though Salim at least tries to keep the focus on the creatures)]] as there is between the monsters currently stalking them. When he tells Jason that he believes that the monsters attacking them are [[spoiler:vampires]], Jason tells him that it's not possible. Salim in response tells him "My father once told me, 'if something looks like shit, and smells like shit, you don't have to taste it to know that it's shit!'" Jason actually chuckles at that.
* While most of the attempts at humor in ''VideoGame/Injustice2'' are shot down or deflected by repartee, this one actually sticks the landing:
-->'''[[PhysicalGod Superman]]''': This won't be a fair fight.\
'''[[BadassNormal Green Arrow]]''': [[DeadpanSnarker Seems only sporting I give you a chance.]]\
'''Superman''': That was actually kinda funny.
* In ''VideoGame/KlonoaHeroesDensetsuNoStarMedal'', Klonoa attempts to convince Guntz to join him and Pango, believing that [[CaptainObvious if they lose, they can't win]]. Guntz takes so much humor in this that he immortalizes it as the team's motto.
* ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUs'': This banter between [[TeethClenchedTeamwork Bill and Ellie]]:
-->'''Bill:''' ''(To Joel)'' What are ya deliverin', the little brat? \
'''Ellie:''' Ha ha. Fuck you too! \
'''Bill:''' ''(Suddenly cracks up)''
* In ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrange'', [[RichBitch Victoria]] tells protagonist Max, whose signature photograph is an instant selfie, to "fuck yourselfie". Max is annoyed but comments that the joke ''is'' funny in her journal, and will tell Victoria as much if you decide to make peace with her.
* ''VideoGame/LoveAndPies'': While Joe's puns often elicit groans from his friends, there's one time that he actually gets a chuckle out of them, like when Eve thinks of writing an article on the café's electricity.
-->'''Eve:''' Mmm, don't you feel it, Yuka? I could write a story on the electricity in here!\
'''Joe:''' Electricity in the air? WATT a SHOCK that would be?!\
'''Eve:''' Haha! That was almost good, Joe. I just feel like there's a juicy story in here.
* ''VideoGame/MassEffectAndromeda'': Drack often responds to people's quips about him or the krogan in this way. For example, after criticizing the team for being proud of "not dying" on a mission, Cora asks what right a krogan whose ancestors nuked their own homeworld into a radioactive rock has to say that. Drack laughs and replies "Fair point."
-->'''Drack:''' The rest of the crew doesn't seem to know a lot about you, Peebee.\
'''Peebee:''' Way I like it.\
'''Drack:''' Then why are you telling me all this stuff?\
'''Peebee:''' Eh, you're almost dead anyway.\
'''Drack:''' ''[laughs uproariously]''
* In ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid'' when Vulcan Raven is giving the obligatory "feed you a ton of exposition and backstory before we fight" monologue all bosses give Snake, he heartily laughs when Snake comments on his size:
-->'''Snake:''' ''You'' were the one in the M1 Tank? Must have been a tight fit for a big boy like you.
* In ''VideoGame/MortalKombat11'', a pre-fight banter involves Cassie Cage trying to order Geras, the stoic time golem, to leave the area. Geras cracks a smirk at the attempt, chuckling as he tells her that she holds no power over him.
* ''VideoGame/{{Myst}}'': The natives of the Channelwood age play a little prank on Atrus in one of his journals: they keep giving him free black ink, but some time after he writes with their black ink, it changes color to various shades of red or blue, leaving first-time players wondering why Atrus's notes are suddenly and randomly changing colors, at least until his notes explain the prank. The natives think this is hilarious, and Atrus himself has this reaction.
* ''VideoGame/TheNewOrderLastDaysOfEurope'': If Gus Hall becomes President after [[spoiler:Curtis [=LeMay=]]], the presidental transistion letter is mostly a description of [[AteHisGun how to properly commit suicide by eating a gun]]. Each letter has the recipient's reaction to it listed; Hall frames this one and puts it on his desk.
* In the skirmish battles with Tyran in ''VideoGame/NiNoKuniIIRevenantKingdom'', Lofty is annoyed with the excuses Tyran keeps making for why he keeps running off. After a particularly cheeky one, however, he admits he's starting to become entertained by them.
* Of all the gods in ''VideoGame/PillarsOfEternityIIDeadfire'', it's surprising that [[spoiler:Rymrgand, god of entropy and destruction]] is prone to this. You can go to their realm and mock them ''to their face'', and they'll respond with only languid amusement. [[spoiler:But only because you're [[TheChosenOne the Herald of Berath]]. They're quite open about the fact that you'd be DeaderThanDead for simply entering their realm were you any other mortal. And there are still a few things you can say [[DoNotTauntCthulhu that will get you killed]].]]
** Back in [[VideoGame/PillarsOfEternity the first game]], cracking a YourMom joke to Hiravias makes him laugh his ass off, though he also adds that, for future reference, only he’s allowed to insult his mother. He lets it slide because he appreciates your dedication to banter.
* In ''VideoGame/PokemonSwordAndShield'', during Opal's gym challenge, you get stat boosts or penalties depending on how you answer quiz questions during the battles. One of Opal's questions is "How old am I?" The obviously correct choice is [[CoolOldLady 88]], meaning you ''should'' get the stat boost for that... However, instead you get the boost for saying 16, because Opal gets a chuckle out of it.
* From ''VideoGame/{{Psychonauts}}'', upon defeating the boss character Kochamara, you're treated to a cutscene with this exchange of dialogue:
-->'''Kochamara:''' I've got the brain of a little girl back in my lab that's strong enough to power a whole army of psycho-blaster death tanks!\
'''Raz:''' ''(starts laughing uncontrollably)''\
'''Kochamara:''' What?\
'''Raz:''' You've got the brain of a ''little girl''?\
'''Kochamara:''' I ''said'', "in my lab!"\
'''Raz:''' I think you've got the muscles of a little girl too!\
'''Kochamara:''' ''(groan)'' ... good one.
** Earlier, we have one of Raz' [[CassandraTruth unsuccessful attempts]] to convince the rest of the campers of the ongoing sinister plot:
--->'''Raz:''' Hey, Bobby. Someone's stealing kids' brains!\
'''Bobby:''' Well in that case, you've got nothing to worry about! Ah-ha-ha-ha!\
'''Raz:''' ... good one.\
'''Bobby:''' [[DontExplainTheJoke BECAUSE YOU GOT NO BRAINS!]]
* Meta-example for ''VideoGame/{{Pyst}}'': While Parroty Interactive did put up a prominent disclaimer advising buyers that [[OurLawyersAdvisedThisTrope the game is a parody and not the real deal]], Cyan Inc., particularly ''VideoGame/{{Myst}}'' co-creator Rand Miller, was ecstatic about their game being the subject of parodies, and they even had a copy of ''Pyst'' on their archives.
* In ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil4'', the villains hijack Leon's radio early on and use it get him on the horn and livestream their taunting, threats, and general villainous gloating to him whenever they see fit. Generally they react to Leon's [[TheComicallySerious unamused quips and retorts]] with anything from being FauxAffablyEvil to outright anger and rage. At one point however, Leon blames Saddler forgetting the name of "It" on a "[[ScatterbrainedSenior senior moment]]": Saddler seems ''genuinely'' amused by it.
* One mission in ''VideoGame/TheSecretWorld'' features the player sending an agent to gatecrash a party arranged by [[TheNecrocracy the Kingdom]] in order to learn what debaucheries the undead crime lords get up to in their spare time. Among other things, it requires your agent of choice to be carefully disguised with prosthetic makeup in order to look like a {{mummy}}, and have enough charisma to outfox the millennia-old party guests. Should you succeed, the Kingdom are genuinely amused by the trick and actually offer your agent additional work for keeping them entertained.
* From ''VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia'':
-->'''Vigoro:''' I believe the worth of a man can be measured by his popularity with women.\
'''Gilder:''' Hm, I kind of like that. I should remember that for later.
* In ''VideoGame/StardewValley'', if you turn Mayor Lewis's Lucky Purple Shorts into the wearable version and then talk to Marnie [[spoiler: with whom Lewis is having a secret affair]], she's laughing too hard to reply.
* In ''VideoGame/{{Stellaris}}'', if a diplomat is assigned to a country to improve relations, a RandomEvent can occasionally happen where said diplomat insults your leader with various [[FantasticSlurs Xeno Slurs]]. Quick investigation turns up that this was caused by a PlayfulHacker messing with said diplomats' TranslatorMicrobes. You can pick your empire's reaction from two choices: consider the incident to be actually pretty funny, strengthening your diplomatic relations for a while and giving you extra Amenities for a bit as your population laughs off the incident, or take it as the mild diplomatic incident that it is, temporarily harming your relations but giving you more influence.
** If you're on the other side of that event and your ally is a good sport about it, you get a report that the video of your envoy making a fool of themselves has [[MemeticMutation gone viral on your ally's internet-equivalent.]]
* In [[VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses Byleth's]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc6k6kLCmqQ reveal trailer]] for ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'', Sothis forces Byleth to join Smash. At first, she snarks at him for getting knocked out and makes a tongue-in-cheek reference to the "too many swordsman" complaint/meme. Byleth proceeds to turn into his female counterpart at the comment; she can't be a swords''man'' if [[ExactWords she's actually a woman]]. Sothis admits this is clever and rewards Byleth with the other main characters' Heroes Relics (giving her some more non-sword weapons).
* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'':
** Early in Snowdin, the brothers Papyrus and Sans (both of whom are [[DemBones skeletons]]) have an exchange where Sans keeps blowing off Papyrus and making smart ass remarks, which causes Papyrus to smile, despite his best efforts.
--->'''Sans:''' hey, take it easy. i've gotten a ton of work done today. a ''skele-ton''. [zoom in on Sans winking at the camera complete with rimshot]\
'''Papyrus:''' SANS!!!\
'''Sans:''' come on. you're smiling.\
'''Papyrus:''' I AM AND I HATE IT!
** Later, in Hotland, during Mettaton's quiz show, he decides to troll Alphys by asking you who she has a crush on. If you guess ''yourself'', he tells you that you're totally wrong, but he respects the sheer audacity of saying it and laughs at the reason why you could come to the conclusion (Alphys watching your every move on cameras) and gives you the point anyway.
** If you're enough of a sucker to try to [[spoiler:spare Sans]] at the end of a No Mercy run, you immediately [[spoiler:get killed by him, leading to a unique ending screen where he tells you to "geeeeeeeeeeet dunked on!". You do still have the redo the fight, though.
** If you talk to Gerson (the turtle shopkeeper in Waterfall) when you first see him, he'll call Asgore "King Fluffybuns", but won't remember why if you ask him. Talking to him in the PlayableEpilogue of a True Pacifist run will reveal it to have been an example of this trope: [[spoiler:Asgore and Toriel were giving an address to the citizens, and when Toriel went to hand the mic to Asgore, she told him "Your turn, Fluffybuns", [[IsThisThingStillOn which was picked up by the microphone.]] As the audience laughed, Asgore took the mic and sternly raised his hands to silence everyone, before beginning his segment with "I, King Fluffybuns..."]]

* In case 5 of ''VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyTrialsAndTribulations'', Phoenix has to present Larry's sketch; either you point out "A major contradiction" (the right answer), "Absolutely nothing" (the wrong answer), or explain "Exactly what happened". Phoenix explains "Exactly what happened" as "Of course the victim was flying through the air! You can see it right in the sketch! Woooooooosh!" accompanied with fitting sound effects. Godot is so amused/baffled by Phoenix's explanation that he waives the penalty.
* In ''VisualNovel/AkatsukiNoGoei'''s fandisk during Aya's epilogue, she convinces Kaito to play an online game. Not really interested, he names his character Nikaido Reika after Aya's sister, offending both Aya and [[spoiler:Reika's new guard]] Tominori. However, he then proceeds to customize the character's appearance to give make her tiny, flat chested and with long pink twintails, at which point they both start giggling at how it looks exactly like her.
* If the protagonist of ''VisualNovel/DaughterForDessert'' takes Heidi on a date to a nice restaurant and asks if she would ever date Blake, she tells him exactly why she couldn’t: he has an anal prolapse. The protagonist then starts making a bunch of jokes about Blake's “problem,” and Heidi laughs along in spite of herself.
* In ''VisualNovel/LongLiveTheQueen'', Elodie [[http://longlivethequeen.wikia.com/wiki/Week_21 happens upon]] an unflattering poem involving her [[NoodleImplements and a squid.]] You have the option to choose whether or not she can find the humour in it, and her emotional state will alter accordingly.

* In both ''WebAnimation/BabushkaTheMovie'' and the actual round of ''VideoGame/AmongUs'' that inspired it, WebVideo/{{Jacksepticeye}} laughs hysterically at the manner in which he and his fellow crewmate Tina are killed by the impostors. When Tina ([[MirthlessLaughter who herself is giving a sad laugh]]), asks how it can possibly be fair for them to be killed like that, Jack admits that it isn't... but it is funny. 325* In WebAnimation/HeavyIsDead, Demoman demonstrates how he supposedly killed Heavy, by.... shooting Sniper. Everyone else surrounds Sniper's corpse with shocked expressions, until Demo reveals he killed him ''[[JustJokingJustification as a joke]]'', at which point they burst into laughter.
* ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'':

'''Strong Mad:''' DON'T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF!\
'''Strong Bad:''' Wait, what? Strong Mad, did you just make a joke?! That was pretty good!
** In one cartoon, Strong Bad declares that the ancient newspaper comic "The Castlefunnies" to be unreadable to anyone under ninety-one. However, when he explains that the Poopsmith was renamed to "Mushy Chamberpot" for censorship reasons, he admits that it's a pretty good choice for a silly name.

* ''WebAnimation/IfTheEmperorHadATextToSpeechDevice'':

--->'''Rogal Dorn:''' Father, are you familiar with the saying "You are what you eat"? Considering you increasingly resemble a pile of screaming psychic children.\
'''Emperor:''' ''[beat]'' [[AC:Wow, Rogal. Way to bring down the fucking hammer!]]
** Cegorach, being the Eldar God of comedy (among other things), doesn't seem to have a problem with others making fun of him, as long as they are clever about it.
--->'''Cegorach:''' Maybe you could be my ghostwriter?\
'''Magnus:''' No but I can... turn YOU into a ghost!\
'''Cegorach:''' ... shit, that was good. I need him on my team.
* ''WebAnimation/MinilifeTV'': In "[[Recap/MinilifeTVSeason5Episode12 The Vampodcast]]", Zach tries to gain access to the Burton Night Club, a monster-exclusive club, by disguising himself as a zombie so he could help Snowball the vampire with his podcast. When the gargoyle bouncer asks Zach how he became a zombie, Zach says that he watched too much television, which causes the bouncer to laugh so loudly that it shakes the entire city.
-->'''Gargoyle Bouncer:''' Good one. It is refreshing to see a zombie with a sense of humor.
* ''{{WebAnimation/RWBY}}'': When Ruby sheepishly admits that the Atlesian military airship she and her companions arrived on was indeed [[HeroStoleMyBike stolen]], the Atlesian [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure General Ironwood]] visibly suppresses a chuckle.

-->'''Black Mage:''' I'm going to look back on this one day and think it's hilarious. I'll kill them all anyway, but at least we can laugh about it.
* A BrickJoke in ''Webcomic/{{Exiern}}'' has this effect. An imprisoned barbarian is wondering if she can get freed after accidentally punching the king in the face if she argues it was meant as a show of respect. The king enters at this point and explains that it won't work, before RecruitingTheCriminal. At the end of the scene, now allies and with no hostility between them, the king finally punches the barbarian in the face "out of respect" -- those present are terrified only to realise, once the king has left, that she's actually laughing.

* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'':
** The comic has this exchange between a young student, and Klaus Wulfenbach, ruler of a large chunk of Europe:
--->'''Itto:''' I heard the story of how you fought the dragon from ''Mars'' -- and how it captured Lucrezia Mongfish -- and ''then'' she turned into Von Pinn and I wanted to see what could ''do'' that!\
'''Klaus:''' ''[concealing a smile]'' Snort. I'd have given a lot to see ''that'' myself.

* In [[http://grrlpowercomic.com/archives/630 this]] strip of ''Webcomic/GrrlPower'', Ariana cannot bring herself to chew out Maxima for making snide remarks because, in her own words, "That was a pretty good one though." Annie makes a point of ignoring this at first, even going so far as to ''spank'' Coyote when he pokes his nose up her skirt. Coyote usually finds Annie's refusal to take shit from him highly amusing, but eventually, she has to be reminded that Coyote is a ''PhysicalGod'', and not a benevolent one, and he [[DoNotTauntCthulhu will kill her (or worse) if she angers him too much]].
** While Parley is initially unamused by Mort making fun of how she thinks you're supposed to talk to ghosts, once they get to know each other it becomes a shared joke.
* ''Webcomic/DumbingOfAge'': When Carla (a trans woman) finds a penis drawn on her whiteboard, she declares it a hate crime. Then she realizes [[CrossesTheLineTwice they're drawn on everyone's whiteboards]], and she declares it hilarious.
* ''Webcomic/EnnuiGo'': In "Invitation" (652, NSFW), during a threesome with Izzy, Noah and Hashim decide to impersonate Darcy. Izzy warns them that Darcy could kill them for that, but Darcy actually finds the impersonations pretty good.

The party's wizard mocked him by asking how someone that big and hard-to-miss could possibly pick anyone's pocket. Spoony responded by clubbing the wizard over the head and then taking the coin purse from his unconscious body. The wizard's player laughed and gladly admitted to losing the debate.
* LetsPlay/ProtonJon famously ''[[BerserkButton hates]]'' [[InvisibleBlock Invisible Coin Blocks]] from the ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' franchise. Yet, when he plays a ROMHack by a user called Gamelun, he encounters an inventive use of them that he admits is in fact funny. (Long story short: Gamelun presents the player with two different paths to go down, and seems to point towards one path being the right way... but that path leads to a dead end, and when the player tries to jump back out of the dead end he gets sealed in by invisible blocks)

** Goes into downright meta levels when the voice actors from the original dub of DBZ met with Team Four Star and outright thanked them for what they did. Apparently, they had wanted to rip the cheesy dub apart for years, but never could due to their contracts.
** Then there's semi-perfect Cell's response to Vegeta's understandable confusion when he ''literally'' speaks out of his ass.
--->'''Vegeta:''' Did... did you just talk out of your ass?\
'''Cell:''' Well, to be fair, Vegeta, you ''are'' part of my DNA.\
'''Vegeta:''' Oh, that is the closest thing to damage you've done since I got here.
** Vegeta again in response to a quip by Future Trunks:

'''Trunks''': First time for everything!\

** [[http://notalwaysright.com/caught-red-bearded/ This teacher's assistant]] once answered the phone using "Captain Redbeard's room", referring to the teacher who, true to the name, had a red beard and was once the captain of the football team. Given the reaction of the teacher's assistant to the caller, it's implied that the caller was the teacher himself (certainly someone she didn't want to hear that), and the laughter on the line -- and the fact that the staff called the teacher "Captain Redbeard" for the rest of the year -- further implies this trope.
** [[https://notalwaysright.com/terrorising-your-students/ This law teacher]] made and used an exam using the students' names for DumbCrooks or other silly situations, as a way to vent stress from putting up with them in class. The students loved it.

** In "Jay from ''[[Series/TheInbetweeners Inbetweeners]]'' Plays ''VideoGame/ModernWarfare 3''", viewable [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubWNEUdhUOo here]], a player calls in a care package and goes into a corner to make sure he doesn't get crushed by it. Jay ''immediately'' rams him in and gets joined by another player, causing all three to be crushed. The player who loses his care package and dies is laughing like a hyena, as opposed to raging as you'd expect.
* In 2014, Website/CollegeHumor put out [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Dyqas6Sm8 this video]], which parodies the UsefulNotes/FurryFandom with an over-the-top cartoon show called "Furry Force." Many genuine furries posted comments on the video about how funny and accurate it was, with a few offering suggestions about how to make it even truer to their fandom. The best part? The writers listened and produced [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClbBxEomrb4 this sequel]] which incorporates those suggestions. In that case, several ''more'' furries posted about their love for the parody.
* ''WebVideo/ArbyNTheChief'''s infamous "Wedding" episode ends with Arbiter and Master Chief [[ExactWords crashing an online wedding between two Xbox-Live Players]]. The calm, mature Arbiter's dialogue with the juvenile Master Chief after doing so goes like:
-->'''Arbiter:''' What the hell was that?!\
'''Master Chief:''' ONE KICKASS WEDDING \
'''Arbiter:''' I can't believe you.\
'''Master Chief''': THAT WAZ SUM FUNNY ASS SHIT\
''(beat)''\
'''Arbiter:''' You know, that actually WAS kinda funny.\
''(beat)''\
'''Arbiter:''' ...you wanna do it again?\
'''Master Chief:''' DAYUM RITE SOOON\
''(Arbiter and Chief high-five.)''
* In one of Creator/TeamFourStar's ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse'' videos, Lanipator and Kirran try to prank [=KaiserNeko=] by telling him "If your hand is bigger than your face, you have cancer"[[note]]The gag being that when the sucker holds up his hand to check, you smack it into his face[[/note]]. Kaiser refuses to fall for it, quipping "How about you check me for prostate cancer?"; Kirran responds "Fuck you! That was a good one."
* Whenever LetsPlay/BlastphamousHD watches a "[=BlastphamousHD=] Roast" video, at least one joke will have him cracking up.
* [[https://youtu.be/jw-BwRmwX8s?t=372 This]] video of a prankster, posing as a [=FedEx=] employee, convincing a Saudi Arabian man that his iPhone's shipment was stolen by looters. [[note]]The prank was coordinated by the man's friends, and he was quickly informed it was a joke.[[/note]] First comes a long runaround meant to annoy the victim, including transferring him ''back to the same person'' when he asks to speak to a manager and calling him "habibi," the Arabic equivalent of "honey/sweetheart." Finally:
-->'''Victim:''' Put yourself in my place, you spend almost $2,000 to ship an iPhone as a gift... and it's late. What would you do?\
'''Prankster:''' Yeah, I would be upset, but then I would realize, oh shit! [[ArabOilSheikh I'm from Saudi Arabia!]] I can buy another one.\
[[{{Beat}} Long pause]].\
'''Victim:''' Heh heh heh.
* During UsefulNotes/TheWorldCup in 2014, U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard [[YouShallNotPass had a record-breaking 15 saves]], leading a WikiVandal to make him United States Secretary of Defense on Website/{{Wikipedia}}. The Other Wiki's founder [[https://twitter.com/jimmy_wales/status/484284073259462657 was amused]].
* ''Webvideo/CriticalRole''
** In the second campaign, Beauregard describes her staff as a simple tool, prompting Mollymauk to ask if "simple tool" is her new nickname.
-->'''Beau:''' You know what? I'll take that, that's fair, that was a good one.
** The third campaign has the group confronting a [[spoiler: changeling assassin]], who turns into a very done [[TheBerserker Ashton]] to mock them. After they leave, Ashton admits it was pretty funny.
-->'''[[SirSwearsALot Ashton]]:''' Take your basic-ass looks and get the fuck out!\
'''[[spoiler: Yu Suffaid]]:''' (as Ashton) So long, motherfuckers!! Argh! I'm angry!!
* Normally, Website/{{Twitch}} streamer WebVideo/{{Kitboga}} will call a phone scammer, waste their time for a while, reveal the scambait to the scammer, and try to chat with them for a bit. On one stream after a reveal, Kit stuck around and told jokes to the scammer he had on the phone at the time. The scammer had a pretty quick response to one, which Kit laughed at and admitted was pretty clever.
-->'''Kit:''' Is your name wi-fi? Because I'm feeling a connection here.\
'''Scammer:''' No.\
'''Kit:''' Oh, okay.\
'''Scammer:''' I'm not the wi-fi, I'm the hotspot.\
'''Kit:''' [{{beat}}] Oh, oh! Are you saying that -- *laughs* Wow, you know what? That's not a bad one! Wow. You're quicker on your feet than I expected.
* ''Website/SCPFoundation'': During the Ethics Committee Orientation, the interviewer tells a joke at the Ethics Committee's own expense, and brushes off the interviewee laughing by explaining that they're "supposed to laugh". Turns out [[spoiler: they encourage the jokes and subsequent stereotype that the Ethics Committee is useless so Foundation personnel don't catch on that the Ethics Committee is technically more powerful than the [[TheOmniscientCouncilOfVagueness O5]]]].
* In ''Fanfic/FarceOfTheThreeKingdoms,'' Cao Cao finds Chen Lin's anti-Cao Cao propaganda hilarious after his initial shop, and ends up giving the man a job.
* WebVideo/ShipwreckedComedy's music video "Bertha's Attic Song" ends with [[spoiler:Jane Eyre]] admitting that the picture Bertha did of her is pretty good, and then subscribing to the channel.
* WebVideo/JonTron uploaded "Dr Ho: License to Practice", which had a joke about him as the hunchback of Notre Dame, [[HarsherInHindsight on the exact same day as the Notre Dame Cathedreal fire]]. With that came a slew of memes blaming him for the fire, which he found hilarious.
-->'''Jon:''' This ''gothic-ass building'' has been STANDING IN FRANCE for like, one thousand years, [[LampshadeHanging but it's gotta come down TODAY, when I'm uploading a Notre Dame joke]], of which how many of them out there are there?
* [[WebVideo/ContraPoints Natalie Wynn]] has many funny moments when she reads something that someone posted in the comments or on Twitter, usually laughing because the remark is so [[RefugeInAudacity audacious]], [[BigStupidDooDooHead childish]], blatantly incorrect, [[AccidentallyCorrectWriting right]] [[RightForTheWrongReasons by accident]], or, rarely, [[WorthyOpponent actually clever]]. What then also makes this awesome is that she takes these from the constant stream of cyber bullying transphobes, Terfs, Nazis, Alt-Right trolls (and lately ''[[OffendingTheCreatorsOwn other trans people]]'') direct at her, invariably intended to be as cruel as possible. And while Natalie has made no secret about [[BeneathTheMask how much]] [[DidYouThinkICantFeel these attacks hurt her]], she also invokes a SadClown persona to NoSell this bullying and [[IAmWhatIAm unconditionally own her identity]] [[AppropriatedAppellation in doing so]].
* There's quite a few of these from ''WebVideo/GameGrumps''. To name just a few:
** During their playthrough of ''VideoGame/SonicForces'', Danny talks about the time he had a t-shirt custom-made that read "CHOKING HAZARD" with an arrow [[BiggerIsBetterInBed pointing to his crotch]], only for someone to comment "[[TeenyWeenie Isn't that what they put on]] ''[[TeenyWeenie small]]'' [[TeenyWeenie things]]?" At the time his reaction to that was "[[{{Touche}} Ooh, sick burn]]", and now admits that every so often he'll [[MemeticMutation see it reposted online]] and that he laughs every single time.
** Arin is similarly a meme, where someone found a couple of ''really'' dorky pictures a younger him, one of him posing in a fedora in front of a bunch of action figures and one of him in an wannabe-edgy pose with a pair of swords crossed behind his back, and added the hilariously misspelled caption of "I can be your angle or yuor devil". Arin ''utterly adores this'' and thinks it's among the funniest things he's ever seen.
** During their ''VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker'' playthrough when challenging "Bowser's Prison Fight", they find that the maker put a ''very'' [[TrollingCreator sadistic prank]] at [[https://youtu.be/JrEzVP6wp8Y?t=617 the end of the hard but otherwise straightforward level]]. It lures you into running down a corridor with invincibility stars, which makes you collide with trampolines hidden behind the level goal that ''bounce you off a cliff and force you to start the whole level over'' -- to actually finish the level you need to instead [[ViolationOfCommonSense walk slowly so you touch the tape without bumping any of the trampolines]]. Arin has an absolute meltdown, while Danny is laughing his ass off with a begrudging level of respect for how twisted it was:
--->'''Danny:''' OH NO!!!\
'''Arin:''' ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! ARE YOU BUTT-FUCKING ME?! I FINISHED IT! I FINISHED IT! IT'S DONE! I BEAT IT! FUCK YOU GAME!\
'''Danny:''' (Now howling with laughter) That's so fucking evil!!! That's so evil! I... I kind of love that, actually.
** The Grumps have more or less admitted this to be their stance on ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''. On one hand, they think it's a fairly trashy and unoriginal show, but on the other hand they do admit a handful of its jokes and even a few entire episodes are actually pretty funny.
--->'''Dan:''' Oh, Family Guy and your five funny episodes!
** And while nearly all their laughs from ''VideoGame/SonicBoomRiseOfLyric'' come at the expense of the game's shoddy unfinished quality, Dan actually finds the "peer pressure" line from MAIA to actually be quite clever:
--->'''Amy:''' What do you want with "the blue hedgehog?"\
'''MAIA:''' Information classified.\
'''Amy:''' ''Come on!!!''\
'''MAIA:''' Peer pressure detected. Aquiescing in 3... 2... 1...\
'''Dan:''' "Peer pressure detected?!" (Bursts out laughing) That's actually very funny!
** While Dan's father Avi is normally a fairly private person and doesn't seem too fond of Dan talking about his [[FunnyForeigner Israeli-isms]] on the show, even once threatening "And don't play this on Game Grumps or I'm never calling you again" after leaving one of his hilarious broken-English voice mails ([[{{Troll}} Dan played it anyways]]), he utterly ''loves'' how his referring to "Spotify" as "Spoofy" has become [[MemeticMutation a thing]] and even proudly shows people [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX9ulwKZ1BY the animated shorts]] lampooning it.
** Dan once told the story of when, as a ''very'' young child, he claimed to his parents that he dug the Qumran Caves. [[https://gamegrumps.fandom.com/wiki/Qumran_Caves?file=UpIhwDC.png Not long after someone vandalized the Wikipedia article with this "fact"]]. Although Dan maintains that people really should not do that, and that vandalizing Wikipedia is not okay, he also can't help but admit that he finds this one funny as hell.
--->"I screencapped it and showed it to my dad who ''died''. He fucking loved it. However, you should not do graffiti on Wikipedia. That's not cool! But that one incidence made me laugh very hard."
* ''WebVideo/InternetHistorian'':
** When he was talking about what finally killed Planking, he lists off a number of similar lame fads that people created to try to "resuscitate" the fad, like "Owling" (shows people perched on things like owls), "Teapotting" (shows people posing like teapots), and "Beheading" (Shows pairs of people posed in ways so it looks like one person with their head removed)... before admitting that Beheading is actually pretty amusing.
--->Actually, that's pretty good. But the timing was all wrong and it never properly took off.
** During his multi-part series on "He Will Not Divide Us", he describes when Creator/ShiaLaBeouf effectively admitted defeat and locked the flag inside the basement of a private residence to keep the legions of the internet and their [[ScarilyCompetentTracker honestly frightening efficacity at tracking the thing down]] from finding and messing with it. They found it pretty quick and, after a few attempts at messing with the router to turn the livestream off or shining things through the window, they just flooded the place with fraudulent pizza deliveries -- Internet Historian chastizes them for this and calls it unfunny, before relenting and admitting that it ''is'' a little funny but that you still shouldn't do it.
* When the ''WebVideo/The8BitGuy'' was doing a live presentation about Platform/Commodore64 videos, he shows off a demo someone made to mock him: it depicts a little animated sprite of 8-Bit Guy in [[Film/DieHard John McClane-ish]] attire shooting off guns with a caption "SO I HAVE LEARNED THAT THE FAMOUS 8-BIT GUY WAS INTO GUNS. LIKE REALLY REALLY INTO GUNS. SO I WAS LIKE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH". While laughing, he notes how the sprite work is actually quite good but that he doesn't own any clothes like that.
* In [[https://www.instagram.com/reel/CilGvCojZk8/ this video]], the athlete and comedian Josh Sundquist - who has only one leg - responds to a meme made with "before and after" photos from his bodybuilding, with a caption saying "he had fewer parts to train". Josh briefly makes it sound like he's about to say this joke is offensive, then smiles and says it's pretty funny and he wishes he had thought of it himself.
* ''WebVideo/{{Blixemi}}'': Unusual for the "Know Your Clanmate" episodes, Graystripe doesn't get mad at most of what the narrator says, instead just laughing along and admitting that they're making some good points. This frustrates the narrator, who frantically tries to find a way to make them upset. He's finally pissed off when she claims he's [[MinorInsultMeltdown becoming a vegetarian]].
* ''WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows'':
** In his review for "Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO, after berating the song for being unlistenable and the music video for being juvenile and unfunny, he includes this note at the very end: "Okay, it's a LITTLE funny that he tears off his Speedo and there's a Speedo underneath."
** In his review for "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran, Todd criticizes the music video for portraying Ed - a pasty, unthreatening man - as an up-and-coming boxer. Then the end of the video reveals that [[spoiler: he was training to fight a sumo wrestler]] and Todd begrudgingly admits that it's a pretty funny twist.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Video]]
* ''WebVideo/CallMeKevin'': For all the frustration and/or terror he expresses at Twitch chat when they use their control over the Chaos Mod for ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' to ruin his attempts to complete missions, sometimes a failure will be hilarious enough that it cracks him up. For example, one event in the mission where Franklin participates in a street race had everyone exit their vehicles, leading to a failure because "A Racer Died", and Kevin tries and fails to suppress laughter before acknowledging, "Okay, that was pretty funny."
* In the ''WebVideo/ContraPoints'' episode about Creator/JKRowling, Natalie[[note]]who is a trans woman[[/note]] looks through some of the transphobic buttons from "Wild Womyn Workshop" and finds one that says "Sorry About Your Dick, Bro". She promptly quips "That one's good, I'd wear that one!"
* In the ''WebVideo/{{Oxventure}}'' campaign for Dungeons and Dragons, bard Dob decides on a plan to flatter the sorceress that just kidnapped them with love poetry while the others sneak away to ambush her. The sorceress thinks the idea that the bard got kidnapped just to tell her love poetry is really funny and lets him keep doing it.
* LetsPlay/PartyCrashers: At one point during their game on ''Mario Party 3''[='=]s [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxujITAsWKY Deep Bloober Sea]], Sophist ends up rolling two 1s with a Double Dice, after having just rolled two 10s on the previous turn. While he is still upset about having low rolled, he does admit that he finds it very humorous, especially since he even called rolling two 1s:
-->'''Sophist''': I hate this outcome, but it's still freaking funny!
* On several occasions in ''WebVideo/WhatTheFuckIsWrongWithYou'', Tara has mentioned a story from her father's wake where her niece asked why only the top half of the casket was opened and she responded "[[GallowsHumor Oh, because Grandpa's not wearing any pants]]". While her sisters were less than amused, her mother thought it was hilarous (and she insists that her dad would have found it funny as well).
