A WebSerialNovel by Tropers/MagicConan14 (aka Courage's admin) that can be read [[http://courage-a-word-of-justice.tumblr.com/tagged/ro.te.o here]]. However, in the spirit of Tumblr, the latest chapters appear first. It's an UrbanFantasy story which is explained to be "a ''Manga/DNAngel'' parody and [an original story counterpart] to ''Stealing Stars'' (a dead fic) and ''Best of Luck, Tantei-kun''".

The continuity goes like this:
* [[http://www.courage-a-word-of-justice.tumblr.com/tagged/ro.te.o Ro.Te.O]]. The story of two boys, Ryou and Tetsuya, who discover their pasts as angels and have to deal with the baggage that comes with their alter egoes. They're not alone, though - not only do other angels exist, but demons do too and said demons want to bring about TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt... First published in 2013, unfinished at 10 chapters yet being elaborated on in the revival. Its name was changed to ''Resurrected Angels'' in chapter 10 and ''Rebirth'' keeps that name.
* ''Crimson''. A spinoff to Ro.Te.O written in script format, see a summary of it next to the ShowWithinAShow entry. First published in 2013, unfinished at 4 chapters and unable to be accessed due to its home tumblr being deleted.
* [[http://www.courage-a-word-of-justice.tumblr.com/tagged/ro.te.o+crimson The Future is Crimson]]. An AlternateContinuity to ''Crimson''. A boy Daichi, his UnwantedHarem, his part-robot butler and resurrected buddy Crimson deal with the normal and not-so-normal in a future where magic is the norm. Complete, started and ended in 2014 at 16 chapters (2 of which are entirely author talk). Unlike its predecessor, it isn't in script format.
* ''Resurrected Angels: Rebirth'' (found at the same link as ''Ro.Te.O''). An AlternateContinuity of Ro.Te.O. First published in 2014, ongoing.
* ''Resurrected Angels: Memories'' (found at the same link as ''Ro.Te.O''). The backstories for the ''Rebirth'' characters, as well as other tidbits you might never get to see in the main story (under different subsections e.g. ''Memories of a Time Gone By'' (poems/CanonWelding) and ''Memories of Names'' (on the origin of character names). First published in 2014, ongoing.

Note that the heading's spelt Ro.Te.O, not the way it appears at the top of the page.

There's a [[Characters/RoTeO character sheet]] too. Character tropes should go there.

----
!!''Ro.Te.O'' and ''[=revival!RoTeO=]'' contains examples of: (The revival will only change where noted.)
* AerithAndBob: Averted with the human names since the setting is of the "cosmopolitan" variety and most of the names are actual ones. The angel/demon names are naturally of the "Aerith" type except Gabriel, Raphael, Ariel (in a ''Memories'' entry) and Michael.
* AgeLift: ''Rebirth'' lifts everyone's ages a year, but this is because it debuted about a year later to its original counterpart. The most notable part is when Martin's age is noted just after his first transformation in both versions: in the original he's 16, ''Rebirth'' he's 17 but both times he looks 18 as Azrael.
* AllThereInTheManual: All sorts of interesting tidbits can be found if you look through ''Memories'', other Ro.Te.O/Crimson posts and ''Superhero Project'' (for Martin, Ryou and Tetsuya only). Tetsuya's a common target for AllThereInTheManual, as [[http://courage-a-word-of-justice.tumblr.com/post/90650496080/done-this-thing-for-kicks-but-it-took-a-few this post]] proves. The targeting, however, is also justified in that post - Tetsuya is one of the author's favourite characters.
* AlternateCharacterReading: WordOfGod said that most of the names work because of this.
%%* AlternateContinuity
* BreadEggsBreadedEggs: Setsuna comments that she spends most of her life "being harassed by demons, jerks and demon jerks".
* CastFullOfPrettyBoys: Well, the story was described as a parody of ''Manga/DNAngel'', so it makes sense to at least have a few...but almost everyone in the cast is a guy.
* TheChosenMany: Those with PastLifeMemories. They don't have the same power set. (To be fair, it was never TheChosenOne to begin with.)
* NamesToRunAwayFrom/DemonsOrAngels: Three of the angels have a place on this page...Lucifer has one, too.
* DebutQueue: Practically every chapter makes for at least one debut...at least until chapter 5. Revival!Ro.Te.O subverts this.
%%* DefeatMeansFriendship: So very much.
* DreamSequence: It starts the plot, along with the giving of the TransformationTrinket. The revival subverts this.
* DreamingOfTimesGoneBy: Ryou, Tetsuya and Katsuo recall the first Great Battle by using this. Unfortunately, it's Avisel's point of view, meaning they get to witness their own past deaths.
* ElementalRockPaperScissors: Gabriel to electricity and ice, Sariel to fire, Raguel to ice. Ryou's is water, but there's only water angels at this point in time. [[spoiler: During the zombie arc, Gabriel - one of the two water angels - turns on Lucifer only for him to suffer TheWorfEffect.]]
* FemaleAngelMaleDemon: Subverted unless it's Curiel (original)/Raphael (revival) with any one of the male demons.
%% * FiveManBand: Out of the original's main group: Ryou's TheLeader, Tetsuya's TheLancer (although he's originally TheSmartGuy), Katsuo's TheSmartGuy, Martin's TheBigGuy (although Katsuo's and Martin's roles switch for the revival, as Katsuo uses his fists more), and Kaede is TheHeart.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: The angels of the original have this lineup - Ryou is Sanguine, Katsuo is Choleric, Tetsuya is Melancholic (although he isn't the angel of justice) and Kaede is Phlegmatic. Out of the combos, Yuuki is the Artisan and Satoshi is the Idealist. Sora is another Sanguine.
* GoodWingsEvilWings: Done traditionally for angels and devils. The colour, not so much.
* {{Gotterdammerung}}: The Great Battle.
* GuardianAngel: Discussed in the original:
-->'''Martin:''' Guardian angels are meant to look over you, right? So do that!
-->'''Gabriel:''' You got it wrong. Guardian angels also have to stop you from doing the wrong thing.
* HenshinHero: Most of the characters are this trope. However, there's no armour and [[NotWearingTights none wear tights]].
* ImprovisedWeapon: A laptop is used to hit a criminal into submission. Not present in the revival.
* {{Masquerade}}: Because of WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld. On the other hand, there's a school MasqueradeBall which isn't present in the revival.
%%* MasqueradeBall: Chapter 6. Not in revival.
* MushroomSamba: Katsuo gets a taste of this in his ''Memories'' entry. What he sees later becomes a reality, though, making it a mix of this and DreamingOfTimesGoneBy.
%%* NecessaryFail: The first great battle.
* NothingExcitingEverHappensHere: It's a mundane place to be, Mawashi. At least, until the angels and devils/demons come and make it exciting. At least Washima has it slightly better...
* OddFriendship: Becomes one between the groups, most notably between Ryou and Tetsuya. Sariel and Astaroth make for an InterspeciesFriendship.
* OppositesAttract: All the stories mentioned on this page are built around this trope.
* OrWasItADream: In the original, zigzagged in the fact there's no Aesop attached.
* OrphanedSeries: Both original!Ro.Te.O and Crimson get this treatment, but then they got rebooted.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: There are no haloes on these angels. Plus, they have human forms...and one tried to commit suicide.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: No horns, no leather, no suits... Like the angels, they have human forms.
%%* PartTimeHero: Or villain, if you'd prefer.
* PrettyBoy: See CastFullOfPrettyBoys above. Taken to the extreme by Astaroth/Skyrua, who manages to pull Lucifer in with his handsomeness (and it's noted that it's not meant to work on Lucifer), but the biggest offender is Avisel, who is described as putting even Musei to shame...and Musei is feminine-looking.
* {{Reincarnation}}: Mentioned as part of the plot, and in the title of the revival.
* SecretIdentity: This being very superhero-inspired, of course they need secret identities.
* SherlockScan: Ryou, the least likely person to perform this trope, does so in ch. 11 of the revival.
* ShoutOut: Has its [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ShoutOut/RoTeO own page]].
* ShowWithinAShow: ''Crimson'', as explained in chapter 6 of the original, is about a part time PhantomThief with an UnwantedHarem. The titular PhantomThief becomes the basis for Ryou's costume for the MasqueradeBall, and two of the angels get jobs voicing the protagonists.
* StableTimeLoop: Summoning future versions of the angels with Gabriel's horn.
%%* TripleShifter
* TransformationTrinket: a choker with a diamond-like gem on it. The revival has a necklace with a diamond shaped pendant.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: Both the demons and the angels get two girls to their team.
%%* UrbanFantasy
* WingedHumanoid: The HenshinHero-style characters all are this trope except their gods.
* TheWorfEffect: In full play with bad guys and good guys alike, including BrainwashedAndCrazy good guys.
* WunzaPlot: But to make it fit the WunzaPlot description (as of chapter 3 original) - One's an angel with a pistol. One's a devil with a sword. Together, they fight crime!
* ZombieApocalypse: An arc in the revival, although it isn't so much the undead as students under a spell (but the students are called "zombies" anyway).
----
[[folder: ''Crimson''/''The Future is Crimson'' contains examples of:]]
* AlternateContinuity: An important fact in revival!Crimson, where magic has only existed for about 30 years (set in the future) compared to original!Crimson (set in the present).
* AmplifierArtifact: the generator chip in the original.
* CanonImmigrant: The White Knight, first introduced in a Manga/CaseClosed fanfic of the same name. This time, the Knight is part of a family who have their own "Crimson taskforce". In revival!Crimson, the eponymous guy, Daichi, Reika and Hanaka are the immigrants from the original - although a few changes are in place, the biggest being that Daichi and Crimson aren't the same person.
* DatePeepers: The gang bar Daichi and [[spoiler:Hanaka]] end up doing this trope.
%%* FirstGirlWins: in the revival.
* HauntedHouse: The attraction kind appears at one point. It just so happens that three orphans have been taking shelter there...
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: "Transmission" instead of "Chapter" for revival!Crimson, because of its origin as a TV show in Ro.Te.O.
* {{Kaitou}}: Crimson steals technology in the original, but is still classified as one. The White Knight is a straight example.
%%* [[ShowWithinAShow Show Within a Web Serial Novel]]
* ShoutOut: See the Ro.Te.O Shout Out page.
* TransformationTrinket: A RingOfPower in the original.
* UnwantedHarem: there's the setup for one in the original but the revival actually does this as part of the plot.
%%* UrbanFantasy
