9	It's difficult to describe the story without spoiling it, since the story was revealed in brief episodes, in AnachronicOrder, and with a RetCon for good measure. Hence, the examples will provide '''UNMARKED SPOILERS'''. However, here is a brief "dust jacket summary" of the three main plotlines without major spoilers.

11	TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture, scientists have discovered a set of technologies that break the laws of physics as we know them, such as teleportation or other dimensions, as well as a list of the ''real'' laws of physics. Worryingly, the scientists studying these technologies are dying in mysterious "accidents". More worryingly, the laws of physics appear to be ''changing'' over time, in such a way that each newly discovered technology can only be used once.

13	Once a year, a random person gets struck by lightning and gains FlyingBrick superpowers. They are creatively known as "Powers". Each is twice as powerful as the last, and when a [[CapitalLettersAreMagic Power is Born]], they go berserk for 15.8 seconds. This means that there's a good chance every year of someone leveling a city.

38	* TheAtoner: Arika, after Jason's death. At that point she's killed or caused the death of 223 people since she got her powers. A few years later, when she loses her powers, she's in the middle of saving her 223rd life.
39	* BigBad: Oul, a [[OmnicidalManiac mindlessly destructive]] EldritchAbomination.
40	** Justified, as he is in fact a weapon and was programmed to do exactly this.

46	* BodySurf: Mitch/Xio is distinctly ''not'' immortal, but he needs to still be around in 20,000 years or so to fight the FinalBattle. So he has his mind copied a countless number of times and installed into new bodies as required.
47	* BoltOfDivineRetribution: Anyone who uses a forbidden technology will find themselves subject to this, either on a personal or regional level; while it initially manifests as literal lightning bolts, over time the Imprisoning God becomes more aggressive and starts killing people directly, creating black holes to lock away the Solar System, and obliterating cities (which Eka speakers use as a Fantastic Nuke). Ching ultimately abuses this to destroy Oul.
48	* BrainUploading: Mitch, to continue his plans into the future, with countless copies of his mind being downloaded over the eons. Also, AlternateUniverse humanity uses this to save anyone whom they come across with seconds or less to live, such as everyone on Earth 0.

The US controls the world with powers, applied physics experiments cause extreme disasters on a regular basis, Eka speakers with Klick devices obliterate several major cities, and behind it all Zykov and Mitch are manipulating physicists to escape and destroy one another.
66	* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: As a serialized story that was never truly edited to make all the pieces fit more closely, some of the early chapters don't quite line up with the later story. "The Astronomer's Loss" especially doesn't line up with how the New Cosmology is actually established later in the story.
67	* EarthIsTheCenterOfTheUniverse: It's one of only two places in our universe where intelligent life developed, and Oul wiped out the other one already.
68	** Earth is also the center of the (3+1 dimensional at least, higher dimensional multiverses could care less) Multiverse; but only because the rest of the universe is dreadfully boring and also the Multiverse was created during one of Mitch's escape attempts, so civilizations center around interdimensional travel rather than exploring the rest of the universe.
69	* EarthShatteringKaboom: In the FinalBattle, Earth ends up literally collapsing after Ching uses most of the core to form a bullet to shoot Oul.
70	* EldritchAbomination: Several of them. [[BigBad Oul]] is one, and so is the Imprisoning God. Technically, so is [[BigGood Xio]], but he spends most of his time [[GodInHumanForm in a mortal human body]], with human motivations and goals.
71	* EleventhHourSuperpower: Ching, already the most knowledgeable person in Eka left on Earth after all the others have been killed by the Imprisoning God or manipulated into destroying themselves by Xio and Oul, obtains the Solution to the Script and earths all of Xio's remaining power in himself, gaining indescribably immense power just before the FinalBattle. Even so he's left at a distinct disadvantage because Xio was always the underdog in the match between the two.
72	* FantasticDrug: Eka becomes very addicting for those who devote their time to studying it; partially justified in that only gifted theoretical physicists and mathematicians are capable of understanding it in the first place, and studying it holds answers to every question in the universe. Ching is shown preferring studying Eka over sleeping and having to pull himself out of it with alarms, something that eventually leads to his marriage falling apart entirely.
73	* FasterThanLightTravel: It takes RealityWarper powers to set it up. And the Imprisoning God shuts it down just as quickly.
74	* FateWorseThanDeath: Adrian really gets a rough ride of it.

91	* HumansAreSpecial: Humans are (according to WordOfGod) only the second intelligent life to evolve in a universe at the far end of habitability (that is, 3+1 dimensional): extremophiles, like deep-sea vent dwelling archaeobacteria, and Oul killed the first already.

93	* HyperlinkStory: After "On Digital Extremities", all the scientists go their separate ways and have seemingly unrelated superscience-related adventures, only reconvening back at the MPR in "The Story So Far", which is also a recap episode and roughly the midpoint of the series.

98	* LanguageOfMagic: It's science, not magic, but the fact remains that various people gain RealityWarper powers by becoming fluent in Eka, able to affect the real world with machines created from thought and math alone. Later forms of it become even more dense, with Klick referring to a deeper portion as Dvi, Sanskrit for "two" to Eka's "one", with the implication that it becomes infinitely denser.
99	** Unfortuantely, due to the nature of the Imprisoning God, you can only do any given thing ''once''. If anyone tries something that was banned before, it won't work.
100	* LightningCanDoAnything: Each Power is empowered when a bolt of lightning strikes them, earthing a fraction of Oul's or Xio's power in them. Other incredibly precise lightning strikes turn out to be [[BoltOfDivineRetribution the will of the Imprisoning God]]. The most common thing the bolts of divine will do is ''reprogramming computers''.
101	* LostTechnology: Anne Poole spends thousands of years trying to slow down humanity's inevitable rediscovery of weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons. When she inevitably fails, planet-wide mind wipes are carried out, returning such tech to LostTechnology status.
102	* MagicPants: {{Lampshaded}} in [[http://qntm.org/?power Power of Two]]. Jason Chilton notes that his body armor has been torn almost completely apart after his fight with the Tenth Power, but his pants have remained miraculously intact.
