* ''WesternAnimation/{{Bambi}}'' has spent the entire movie as a naive helpless little fawn, and even after the TimeSkip into a buck, is still awkward. Then Ronno arrives and tries to take his beloved Faline away. Cue the ass kicking.
* Repeated in the {{Midquel}}, ''WesternAnimation/BambiII''. Bambi is still a clumsy, timid fawn at this point, and has been dealing with Ronno's bullying, his crush on Faline and being sent away by his father to live with another doe. After he finally snaps back at Ronno however, his adoptive mother gets caught in a snare and awaits a vicious pack of hunting dogs. Bambi not only leads them away from her but skillfully outsmarts and takes out each and every one of them.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast'':
** The enchanted objects. They don't take kindly to an invasion of their home, and you see why so many of them can be used as blunt object weapons. And then there's Lumiere's flamethrower move.
** Beast himself when Belle returns and begs for Gaston to not kill him.
* ''WesternAnimation/DespicableMe1'', towards the end, [[spoiler:when Vector has captured the girls, and refuses to release them, even though Gru gave him the Moon. Gru, who up until this point was doing an OK job, decided to finally step up his game, going so far as to dodge Vector's defenses, and [[OffhandBackhand punch out a shark.]]]] Succinctly described by this comment:
-->'''Agnes:''' ''(to Vector)'' He is gonna kick your butt.
** Done again in [[WesternAnimation/DespicableMe2 the sequel]]; where instead of his daughters in danger it's his LoveInterest. Going in jelly-shotguns akimbo? Definitely badass.
* The scene in ''WesternAnimation/{{Dumbo}}'' where the [[KidsAreCruel bratty kids]] who were mocking Dumbo are smacked around by [[MamaBear Mrs. Jumbo,]] who even throws a bale of hay. Unfortunately, she's locked up in a prison wagon.
* ''Anime/FinalFantasyVIIAdventChildren'' has a moment where Denzel is led to think that [[TeamMom Tifa]] died shielding him from an attack. The sickly kid doesn't cry or run away, he screams:
-->''"[[OurDragonsAreDifferent YOU]] [[DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu SON OF A BITCH!]]"''
* In ''WesternAnimation/FunAndFancyFree'', Bongo gets like this when he stops being afraid and puts his circus skills to the test to take down Lumpjaw.
* Despite all the training he received, the title character from ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda1'' seemed absolutely no match for the enemy...until the decisive battle. And he does it ''again'' in the sequel.
--> '''Po:''' [[DareToBeBadass There is no secret ingredient.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994'':
** Rafiki definitely qualifies. After all, he's just a mystic adviser. Come the final battle, he's busting hurt on the hyenas like nobody's business.
** Pumbaa is generally a pretty laid-back guy, unless you happen to [[BerserkButton call him a pig,]] at which point you'd better run.
---> "They call me ''Mister'' Pig!"
* Eric from ''WesternAnimation/{{The Little Mermaid|1989}}'' spends a good portion of the film getting jerked around one way or another, but when Ursula tries to kill Ariel, he {{ram|mingAlwaysWorks}}s her with a ship, [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice impaling her.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheRescuersDownUnder'' has a scene in which Bernard, the shy stuttering unlucky mouse janitor, confronts a razorback hog in the Australian outback. After timidly running and hiding, Bernard realizes that Bianca, Jake, and Cody are all depending on him, turns around, ''thrashes the full-grown wild boar by its tusks'', and forces it to carry him to the scene of the rescue.
* ''WesternAnimation/RobinHood1973'':
** For most of the film, Little John is a jovial sidekick who makes jokes about Prince John from afar and has to be coaxed into going along with Robin's plans. But when the Prince is about to execute Robin at the tournament, all Little John does is grab the Prince by the collar, point a dagger at his back, and growl: "Okay PJ, now you tell your men to untie my buddy ''or I'll''..."
** Friar Tuck is man of God and fairly non-violent in the film...until the Sheriff of Nottingham decides that the poor box is fair game for tax collection. For the first time in the film, he shouts in anger ("[[BadassPreacher GET OUT OF MY CHURCH!]]") and proceeds to back his demand by body-checking the Sheriff out of the church, where he then grabs a staff and puts the Sheriff (who's wielding a sword) on the defensive before knocking the Sheriff's weapon out of his hand. And the Friar would have won, too, had it not been for one of the Sheriff's buzzard minions getting a jump on Tuck from the rear and blinding him with his own hood (and then quickly getting the hell away from Friar Tuck, who had started blindly swinging the staff in the bird's direction).
** During the chaos of the Archery Contest, Lady Kluck, Maid Marian's lady-in-waiting, tells Marian to hide as the scene is "No place for a Lady"...and then proceeds to kick ass and take names, culminating in her playing a one-man game of UsefulNotes/AmericanFootball against the rhino guards who are easily three times her size.
* ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooLegendOfThePhantosaur'': Hypnotized into being brave, Shaggy beats up an entire biker gang, and later on wins a dangerous motorcycle race against the gang's leader.
* Princess Fiona from ''WesternAnimation/Shrek1'', who goes from a complaining rescued damsel in distress to taking out Robin Hood and his Merry Men barehanded.
* The RagtagBunchOfMisfits that end up joining with Shua and Dr. Noah in ''Animation/SkyBlue'' display considerable cunning and fighting skill when they attack Ecoban.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosMovie'':
** Mario, unaccustomed to the ways of the Mushroom Kingdom, is initially quite inexperienced and susceptible to slipping up. However, later on, he's able to successfully lead a cavalry charge with dozens of karts or [[spoiler:use a Tanooki Suit to fly around perfectly and redirect Bomber Bill away from Princess Peach's castle]].
** It's heavily implied that Mario's attitude stems from Luigiā€™s safety. When the brothers get sucked into the warp pipe, they're both spinning out of control as they fall. But when Luigi screams for Mario, he instantly uses the current to his advantage and launches himself towards his younger brother, briefly taking his hand before they're separated by a junction.
** [[spoiler:Luigi has spent the movie remembering all the times Mario had stood up for him. When Bowser is about to incinerate Mario in a last-ditch effort to stop him getting the Super Star, Luigi blocks the barrage with a manhole cover, being the one who protects Mario for a change. This action grants the brothers enough time to reach the Super Star and whale on Bowser and his army.]]
* In ''{{WesternAnimation/Tarzan}},'' Jane becomes a little less useless while she's being rescued from the baboons by having the good idea to open her parasol to bowl them all out of the way. Later on in the movie, she's able to swing across a vine to rescue Kala from the poachers. She also gets a few ActionGirl moments in the TV series, most notably when prison guards arrive to arrest Hugo and Hooft -- she knocks one of the guards down by throwing a chair at him.
** Tantor also goes through this as well. After spending most of the movie as the CowardlyLion, he finally decides to take a stand and help out his friends. He starts off by swimming out to the ship where Tarzan is being held hostage ''after'' calling out Terk for her insensitive behavior and he takes on every crew member ''on his own''. But it doesn't stop there. He also leads his herd to the gorilla nesting grounds, thus helping Tarzan to stop Clayton from taking the gorillas.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformersTheMovie'':
** Grimlock transforms once in the beginnning, then is stuck in Dino mode for the rest of the show, for one simple purpose: to provide comic relief as a cute animal. Trouble is, he's a cute Tyranosaurus Rex, as he reminds us on the Quintesson planet.
** "Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost."\
Recognizing the stakes, Optimus rushes into what turns out to be his LastDance without holding back. He plows through at least a dozen Decepticons on his way to the BigBad and doesn't even slow down, and in spite of taking some hard hits, swiftly has Megatron on his knees ''begging for his life''. If there was ever any doubt that Optimus Prime was a badass, this scene destroyed it.
** On the villainous side of things, the Decepticons' plan to sneak into Autobot City on their own shuttle after murdering the entire crew also counts.
