He then appears to [[SubvertedTrope subvert it]] by ejecting his cockpit, shooting free with seconds to spare...right until the Festum grabs his pod out of midair and smash it to pieces against his own Fafner. The Fenrir system then [[SphereOfDestruction blows both units to nothing]], just for good measure.]] And the episode still has a post-credits scene to make it even worse. |

At first, it seems that Kiritsugu was going to leave them alone since they signed the pact, but Kiritsugu had no intention of leaving them alive and since his assistant, Maiya, is not part of the two party, she can shoot them without breaking the pact. The bullet killed his fiancée instantly, leaving Kayneth in agonizing pain as he begged Kiritsugu to put him out of his misery but isn't allowed to. Saber had to oblige. |
