----
* Tony showing genuine concern and warmth towards Melfi around the time when Junior was their biggest threat, shown in a scene in which he meets with her in Melfi's car for an impromptu therapy session and to obtain information.
* Tony telling Paulie, Silvio, and Christopher that he's been in therapy and that Junior is using that as an excuse to get rid of him, fully expecting them to have an issue with it. Much to his surprise, only Christopher does. Paulie and Silvio are supportive, with Paulie admitting that he himself saw a therapist before while Silvio says he trusts Tony enough to handle discussing with discretion.
* Paulie's relationship with his mother. He dotes on her and ensures she is happy and well taken care of and is infuriated by Cookie and Minn constantly picking on her. When Minn gets into an accident due to her crappy eyesight Paulie forbids her from driving her mother anywhere and drives them to their Broadway show and to a restaurant, where he stops the other ladies from hogging the dinner rolls. Turns deadly when he breaks into Minn's house to rob her (he knew she kept all of her money under her mattress due to a conversation at the aforementioned lunch) and ends up murdering her with his bare hands. Even when it's revealed Nucci is his aunt rather than his mother, Paulie, though initially devastated, still loves her because she is the only person that really loves him and took care of him when he was a troubled youth.
* Artie and Tony's food fight.
* In its own odd way, the ending of "House Arrest", especially upon repeat viewings of the show. Tony returns to Satriale's after having been absent from the crew's hangouts all episode and is warmly greeted by Chris and the others. The mobsters themselves are all relaxing and enjoying life; Paulie is recommending moisturizer brands to Silvio while tending a pot of gravy, Pussy and Furio are looking at nudie mags together, and Chris is playing cards with Hesh. When they hear a car crash outside and recognize one of the drivers as a jerk who's always speeding, Tony sends Sil and Furio to bawl the guy out, with Furio specifically yelling at him for driving recklessly in a neighborhood with kids. Then Agent Harris swings by to introduce his new partner to Tony and have a friendly chat about the Nets and the Knicks. The camera slowly pulls out to show the rest of the crew hanging outside the shop as Johnny Thunders' "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory" plays. More than a few [=YouTube=] commenters have noted that, in retrospect, this is the high point of the series for everyone present.
--> '''mjremy2605:''' Such a beautiful scene. Italians doing their thing, outside a pork shop, in an old Italian neighborhood, everyday activities buzzing around, Agent Harris stops for a chat, Paulie tanning his chin, Furio lapsing into Italian when provoked, the smell of meat chops, the golden warmth of a late afternoon sun. This could be the forever ending of the series. It was such a perfect moment in time when they were still alive, and you could forget they were gangsters and just chillin' like Italian guys in their man cave.
* Johnny Sack's death, while certainly a TearJerker, is heartwarming by virtue of the fact that his genuine love for his family paid off, and he got to pass away peacefully in a hospital bed surrounded by his loved ones - a luxury not afforded to most mobsters. Especially considering the very close and oblivious brush with death he had earlier in the series, when his beef with Ralph (also rooted in John's love for his wife) almost led to his brutal demise at the hands of the [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant Atwell Avenue Boys]].
** John's unconditional love of Ginny and his devotion to her despite her being morbidly obese is very heartwarming in particular. He comes home and sees her sneaking junk food. He's incensed at her - not because she's cheating on her diet, but because she lied to him. He loves her no matter what her size is.
-->'''Ginny:''' "I know I've gained weight these last few years. I see the other wives, the way men look at them..."
-->'''John:''' ''(caresses her cheek) '' "Don't ''I'' look at you that way? Haven't I always? It was your idea, all this dieting nonsense."
-->'''Ginny:''' "I wanted you to be proud of me."
-->'''John''': "I ''am'' proud of you. I love you." ''(John hugs her)''
** It's at this point that John decides to call off the hit on Ralph, realizing that his love for Ginny is more important than any personal vendettas.
* When Paulie returns from jail, he's greeted warmly by his friends, who even go as far as to play his favorite song "Nancy" from Frank Sinatra. Paulie is genuinely touched by the gesture, even taking a moment to take it all in.
* Tony, at least temporarily, ends his therapy sessions with Dr. Melfi in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS4E11CallingAllCars Calling All Cars]]". He acknowledges that he really hasn't improved or grown fundamentally as a person in the four years they've been meeting and that further attempts would be futile. Melfi, for her part, while protesting Tony's denials that the therapy has helped, nevertheless respects Tony's decision and wishes him the best. Tony gives Melfi his heartfelt thanks and gives her a chaste, yet very tender kiss on the cheek. This very amicable and sweet parting of the ways between Tony Soprano and Jennifer Melfi would have been a far more congenial and upbeat ending of their professional relationship than the bitter, acrimonious break we would see in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E20TheBlueComet The Blue Comet]]".
* The extremely passionate, yet ultimately non-consummated affair between Carmela and Furio is nonetheless permeated with many instances of tenderness, yearning, and emotional depth. The conflict Furio felt when given the opportunity to kill Tony and get off scot-free, clearing the way for him and Carm to be together, is clear and palpable on his face. As is Carmela's anguish when she hears that Furio has returned to Italy; she looks literally deathly ill.
* The reactions (particularly from Carmela and Meadow) to Tony getting shot by Junior. One could make the case that Meadow's pleas for Tony not to die are what finally help in spurring his revival in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E3Mayham Mayham]]".
* In "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E19TheSecondComing The Second Coming]]", there's the moment where Tony comes to the rescue to save AJ from his attempted suicide by drowning in the swimming pool and then comforting his crying son afterward. Later on, Tony informs his captains of this, and all of them do their best to comfort Tony, with most of them revealing that their children struggle with mental health too.
** The scene with him comforting AJ is practically reminiscent of a man soothing his toddler or infant as he literally strokes AJ's head and calls him "baby", just highlighting how much Tony cares for his children.
** When the family deposits AJ at the hospital with a crying Carmela [[ItsAllMyFault grieving over how it's her fault]] after yelling at him before the attempt, Meadow tells her mother it wasn't her fault and her both Meadow's parents admit she saw it coming. Tony embraces his crying wife and puts his hand out to bring Meadow into the fold.
* In "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E21MadeInAmerica Made in America]]", Tony's possibly last bit of business on Earth is not any sort of criminal venture, but an effort to obtain Junior's money so that [[MoralityPet Bobby Baccala's kids]] can inherit it.
* Tony's testimonial to his childhood friendship with Tony Blundetto in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS5E2TheRatPack Rat Pack]]" is heartwarming on yet another, more subtle level. Tony S. relates how he complained about having two sisters but no brother as a child, to which his mother Livia says "What's wrong with your cousin Tony?", pointing out that the bond that "Tony Uncle Johnny" and "Tony Uncle Al" had was just as strong, if not stronger, than any actual brotherly link. Even Livia, who throughout the series has been depicted as hateful, manipulative, and utterly devoid of empathetic feeling, was still perceptive enough to appreciate the depth and strength of the two Tonys' true brotherly love.
* Tony in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E15RememberWhen Remember When]]", when he realizes that Paulie keeping the painting of Tony as a Napoleonic General wasn't a troll after all, that it was a sign of genuine respect and esteem, and it obviously touches him.
* In "[[Recap/TheSopranosS3E4EmployeeOfTheMonth Employee of the Month]]", Dr. Melfi breaks down in tears during one of Tony's therapy sessions following her rape. Tony immediately gets up and comforts her, genuinely worried to see her so distressed.
** Adding to that is Tony asking over and over what ''he'' did wrong, as he thinks he's the reason she's so upset. It's a rare instance of Tony attempting to take responsibility for what he (supposedly) did.
* Christopher and Bobby trying to talk AJ out of avenging his father after he's shot by Uncle Junior.
* "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E9TheRide The Ride]]"
** A minor one, but Tony being playful with Nica when she's upset that she can't go on the ride. It's rare to see him act like this, so it's sweeter than it normally would be.
** Tony and Christopher hijacking a wine robbery from some bikers. It's one of the few times they bond over doing something together, which then mixes with TearJerker as it is possibly their last before their relationship goes off the cliff.
* In "[[Recap/TheSopranosS5E8MarcoPolo Marco Polo]]", members of the Sopranos family and their friends playing the titular game in the swimming pool after the party.
* There's a brief shot of Meadow and Christopher holding hands as they sleep in the hospital waiting room in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS6E2JoinTheClub Join The Club]]."
* Tony and Christopher tightly hugging each other not once, but twice in a row in "[[Recap/TheSopranosS5E13AllDueRespect All Due Respect]]" (even if the conversation that preceded it was dour as usual).
* At the end of "[[Recap/TheSopranosS4E5PieOhMy Pie-O-My]]", the eponymous horse falls ill during the night and Ralphie refuses to help her. So Tony rushes to the stables, pays the vet's bill himself, and sits on the hay with her in her stall, petting the animal and reassuring her that everything would be alright. The scene provides the page image.
** Special mention for the look on Tony's face when a goat enters the stable. He just smiles and enjoys the company of two animals, implying that this is where he feels most happy. In another life, Tony may have been much better off working with animals.
