Heartwarming moments in ''WesternAnimation/StaticShock''.
----
* In "Sons of the Fathers", Richie's dad starts out as a racist bigot who causes Richie to run away from home after he drives Virgil out during a sleepover. He actually goes to Virgil's dad for help to find Richie and spends most of the episode being berated by Robert for his ignorance and how he let it come between him and his son, whom he says is a great kid. It's clear his words are reaching him. When the two dads find Richie being held hostage by the Meta Breed, they actually work together in a Moment of Awesome along with Static to save Richie. His dad apologizes to Richie for what he did and the two make up. In an even more heartwarming moment, in the end, Richie's dad is friendlier to Virgil, even taking the boys to a comic convention. Cheesy and maybe a tad quick? Sure, but it does work for the show.
** Robert's conversation with Virgil after the incident is honestly very heartwarming, saying that even though what Richie's father said was awful, Richie himself chose not to go down that same path. That's exactly what Virgil needed to hear.
--->'''Virgil:''' I don't understand how a guy like Richie had a father like that.
--->'''Robert:''' That's a question even Richie's father couldn't answer. That kind of hate feeds on itself. But Richie's made up his ''own'' mind about who to like. He's broken his father's cycle of intolerance.
--->'''Virgil:''' I had no idea though that Richie was dealing with something this whacked!
--->'''Robert:''' He's gonna need your friendship now, more than ever.
** Another quick one from "Sons of the Fathers": Richie calls Robert "pops" at one point. It's pretty clear that he's basically an honorary member of the Hawkins family besides being Virgil's best friend.
*** Further reinforced by the fact that Robert reminds them to take out the pizza box and it's Richie who does it, like he's one more of the children assigned chores at the house.
* In the Season 1 episode "Junior", Sharon goes to her dad when he's having trouble with Virgil. Despite the fact that they argue and tease each other, she has this to say about her brother:
-->'''Sharon:''' If you quote me, I'll deny it, but, umm... Virgil's a great guy. Give him the benefit of the doubt.
* In "Brother-Sister Act", Sharon cheers Static on after successfully deducing that it's her brother.
* "Frozen Out", While par for the course for a Christmas episode, is very touching. The "villain" is just a homeless little girl who's emotionally lost and just wanting someone to care for her. Thanks to Static, she gets that by the end of the episode.
** The Preacher identifies Permafrost as Maureen, one of his former congregates, when Static shows him the photo he took from her hideout. He explains that she ran away from her family after her mother died, and is scared for her well-being. The Preacher asks Static to find Maureen and talk to her like a person.
** Static talks down Maureen, who attacks him lighting the city's Christmas show...because she wants the photo of her mother back. Realizing she has a point, Static returns the photo and tells Maureen that he knows how she feels because he also lost his mother. This causes her to power down, as he talks about how the sense of loss never goes away.
** Static hugging the sobbing Permafrost by the episode's end, and him wiping away a tear are just two touching moments from said episode.
** After calming her down, Static takes Maureen to the Preacher. He says that they can get help for her but she has to want it. She agrees, and the Preacher goes to get her into warmer clothes with blankets, saying she must be freezing.
** There's also the end of the episode, where the various people in town get together for a massive holiday celebration, even though they're all of different religions. Cheesy? Possibly. But it's still very sweet! Especially when one scene shows Richie's dad in the group (keep in mind that before his CharacterDevelopment, he was a narrow-minded bigot who likely would've laughed at the idea of attending such a function).
--->'''Preacher:''' I want to tell you that, despite our differences, we all have in common certain basic human beliefs. Whether you are a disciple of Muhammad, a child of Abraham, or a member of the Body of Christ, you know that you are called upon to care for the needy and the poor. This great country of ours is so very blessed--yet for some, the blessings are out of reach. Therefore, it is our duty to offer them safe conduct through life's difficult journey. To be their ambassadors of compassion.
** After said speech, Virgil is so moved that, despite all the difficulties of being a superhero on Christmas, he tells Richie he's rediscovered the meaning of Christmas.
** Sharp-eyed viewers will notice that Sean Foley shows up twice in the background of this episode, driving his son to a Kwanzaa party (a holiday typically celebrated by people of African descent) and sitting next to the Hawkins family at the Interfaith ceremony. Given his bigoted views in "Sons of the Fathers," this is pretty noticeable. He's either put those views behind him or is willing to put them aside for his son. Either way, it's sweet.
* The end of "Bad Stretch", where Adam (who has since become Virgil's sister's boyfriend) shows up with a bouquet of flowers to apologize to a very angry Sharon is great--Virgil points out that it might actually be easier to go up against the Meta-Breed than try making up with his sister, but Adam simply smiles and says, "Some things are worth the risk."
* At the end of "Static in Africa", Virgil talking to Anansi, telling him how being one of the few black superheroes made Virgil feel like a valid hero himself is heartwarming enough. Then when [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments Anansi tells him that Static]] [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre is a great hero and that he is a hero not only to the people of Dakota but to Anansi as well]]... *wipes away happy tears*
* Also doubling as a TearJerker -- the episode "Flashback" opens with a statue being erected to honor the heroes who died in the Dakota riots, including Virgil and Sharon's mom, Jean Hawkins, a paramedic who died after getting hit by a stray bullet in the crossfire. Later, Static and Gear see Ebon chasing a girl who turns out to be a bang-baby with the power to move through time. They rescue her and she decides to become a superhero to use her powers to help people. Static convinces them to go back five years to the riots in Dakota to [[SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong save his mom]]. In the past, Virgil meets his mom and tells her he is her son from the future. She says [[SoProudOfYou how proud she is of him.]] He warns to her stay put because she is in danger and she promises to do so. Meanwhile, Ebon kidnaps Timezone and steals a truck full of Big Bang gas to create an earlier Big Bang. Static and Gear stop him, but Static sees his mother back to work pulling a HeroicBystander before the remote Timezone uses shorts out and they are pulled back to the present. Virgil runs home and realizes [[InSpiteOfANail that his mother still died in the riots]]. However, the kicker is his dad tells him that, on the night she died, her coworkers heard her saying [[SoProudOfYou she was very proud of Virgil]] and kept referring to him as "my son, the superhero." This is what finally helps Virgil come to terms with his mom's death and move on.
* In "Future Shock", Virgil worries he might not become as competent as his future self, especially after hearing others declare what a praised hero he is. But, Future!Static tells him to believe in himself since that's his greatest power.
* The Season 4 episode "No Man's an Island" where Edwin Alva tries to cure his son who turned into stone due to being exposed to Quantum Vapor back in "Junior". Kidnapping Bang Babies to cure his son by wiring them to machines was very antagonistic to say the least, but Alva clearly regretted treating his son like garbage and he had little time before Edwin Jr. turns to stone for good. Seeing the two reunite with Alva crying tears of joy was very touching.
* "Kidnapped":
** When Puff kidnaps Robert, Sharon's first reaction after Static saves her, is not that they totaled the family car but took her father. It's only when Robert is safe that she rants about how the insurance company won't cover the damage.
** While forced to fight Gear, and it's short, Virgil gives him the hint about the "worm" three times, and Richie immediately realizes what is happening and that his friend is getting blackmailed. He creates an antivirus in a matter of minutes and provides assistance.
** It is extremely satisfying to see Robert Hawkins both deduce Virgil's identity as Static and then support him in his endeavors, especially after watching Virgil spend so much of the series maintaining a double life (and occasionally coming into conflict with his father as a result). Although understandably hesitant at first, he realizes that letting Virgil and Richie continue to help people outweighs his own worry and comes to trust their judgment.
** There's also an undercut moment in the episode when Alva declares he hasn't a problem with Static since he saved his son. The man spent most of his screen time either being antagonistic or dismissive of others. This also shows Static's act of saving his son meant more to him then anything else.
