Context Heartwarming / Scrubs

Go To

* For starters the theme song, basically from JD's point of view acknowledging he needs help from his friends and coworkers at the hospital

!!Season 1
* You can find a moment of heartwarming in Scrubs in My First Day. At the end, after J.D. realized what a terrible jerk Bob Kelso is, he is wondering "then who is the good guy?" just to get an emergency call and when he's trying to help the patient, he's surprised when Dr. Cox actually gives him support instead of yelling at him. Dr. Cox coaches J.D. through his fears of doing medical procedures on living patients instead of cadavers.
** JD doesn't notice, but Dr. Cox almost gives him an encouraging and affectionate pat on the back after. He can't go through with it, but it's the thought that counts.
* Mrs. Tanner comforting J.D. in "My Old Lady" after explaining to him why she's ready to die.
-->'''Mrs. Tanner:''' Are you okay?\
'''J.D.:''' I'm scared.\
'''Mrs. Tanner:''' Come here. (''J.D. sits on the bed and she hugs him'') You're okay. You'll be just fine, don't worry...
** Everyone who had a patient die had a very mature response. Turk sat down with his Patient's Father and the latter was nothing but grateful that his son had a great surgeon and a friend there through it all, Dr. Cox tells Elliot she did everything correctly and has nothing to be ashamed of. Mrs. Tanner's family, while grief stricken, never lose their cool and more or less accept it.
* At first, when Carla rants at Cox about her relationship problems with Turk, it seems like Cox doesn't care. Then he pranks Turk.
-->'''Cox''': Nobody hurts Carla and gets away with it.
* In "My Old Man", Cox shows up to listen to J.D. give his lecture on heart murmurs after J.D.'s father couldn't show up.
* In "My 15 Minutes", Dr. Cox has JD write up his own evaluation. JD thinks he wasn't taking it seriously, but [[SugarWiki/MomentofAwesome Cox rants at him that he wanted JD to really think about his abilities.]] However, when he's actually speaking to the board, he singles out JD and tells them that JD is hard-working, dedicated and very caring. It was a nice reminder that Dr. Cox really does have a high opinion of JD, even back then.
--> '''Dr. Cox''': I would like to make special recommendation of one intern. John Dorian. Smart kid, he's extremely competent and his determination to do better is something I see in him 24 hours a day. He cares. He cares too much. But he's someone you don't want to lose.
** Elliot is having a hard time fitting in with anyone at the hospital. While things start to turn around at the end, there's two adorable scenes with Elliot and Laverne. The first has Laverne asking Elliot if everything is alright, and the second has her bringing Elliot a cup of hot cocoa because she's had such a rough time of it.
* After requesting that someone other than Turk do his appendectomy, but then being rushed to surgery in the middle of the night while Turk is the only one on call, JD apologizes and tells Turk that he was an idiot and if he ever needs surgery again he wants Turk to do it. The fact that you can clearly hear the choked-back tears in JD's voice when he says so clinches the scene.
** Which lends itself quite well to a HomoeroticSubtext-laden BrickJoke later, when it's mentioned that Turk's the only man that's ever been inside JD.
* Doctor Kelso deliberately sabotaging the friendship that he and Carla were developing when he realizes that it's causing problems for her with the other nurses. Probably the first of many examples of Kelso keeping the hospital running by making everyone hate him.
* In "My Bed Banter & Beyond", all of the hospitals' employees are required to speak to a psychologist. When asked about relationships, Cox gives a jaded view, as do JD and Elliot, whose recent relationship is shown to be falling apart. However, Carla and and Turk talk about how happy they are with each other and admit that they love each other.
* In ''My Occurrence'' we're introduced to Ben Sullivan for the first time, Jordan's playful little brother who is incredibly close to Dr Cox. Ben's nice, if mischievous, to everyone he meets. His relationship with Dr Cox is one of the first times we get to see Perry smiling and genuinely laughing with someone.
** When JD requests that the 'terrifying' haematologist Dr Bob repeats Ben's blood smear, he gently asks JD if it's because he thinks he made a mistake, or because he wishes he had made a mistake. When JD admits it's the latter, Dr. Bob agrees to redo the test for him.
** J.D. was so unwilling to believe that Ben has cancer that he has an ImagineSpot of ''an entire day'' of trying to find out the tests were wrong. When it ends, he gains the courage to break the news.
* Ben overall is pretty amazing in My Hero. The guy is not exactly a saint, but after he was announced to have acquired leukemia he suddenly vanished. Soon after they find Ben in the children's ward playing with a bunch of laughing, giggling children. You gotta admit, that's really just so sweet of him.
** Jordan is worried when her brother goes missing, and she enlists J.D.'s help. They find him in pediatrics. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyGlJL14vyM Ben insists on picking them up and spinning them respectively.]] J.D. enjoys it so much he says, "Eagle", and Jordan starts smiling even as she's protesting for Ben to not do the same for her.
** Doctor Cox dealing with his fear that Ben might die and being there for him anyway.
* In the Season Finale, Doctor Cox willingly agreeing to help JD with a patient with no insurance because JD's strong sense of compassion is why he took on JD as a protege and why he trusts him as a doctor and person.
* In "My Tuscaloosa Heart", both Elliot and JD are overwhelmingly kind and understanding when talking to JD-Number-One, a patient with fairly severe mental health issues. When JD realises that JD-Number-One is upset that they share the same name, he's the one to suggest that he (the patient) goes by JD-Number-One and that JD can be JD-Number-Two. While JD does lash out at the patient later on, he also does apologise.
* In "My Balancing Act" Doctor Cox stops Elliot from apologizing for not knowing the answer to a question on rounds and tells her and the rest of the interns that there's no shame in admitting, as a doctor, that you don't know the answer, so long as you put in the effort to ''find'' it.

!!Season 2
* Jordan has revealed a bunch of truth-bombs, including that J.D. slept with her, in front of the cast. J.D. musters the courage to apologize to Dr. Cox and says he didn't know who Jordan was. Dr. Cox bluntly tells him off but makes it clear he knows J.D. wouldn't have betrayed him that way if he had known. The episode ends with Dr. Cox snapping J.D. out of his "Men at Work" funk" and calls him back, assuring him all is forgiven.
* When Dr. Cox takes a heavily pregnant Jordan back and she nearly goes into premature labor, Dr. Cox is immediately there the first chance he gets and openly shows a lot of concern for.
* The end of "My Nightingale" where Carla reveals that she didn't have to work, but switched shifts to help J.D., Eliot, and Turk on their first night alone in the hospital. Especially since it comes immediately after J.D. insists "we are the most underappreciated people in this place."
* In "My Fruit Cups", Jordan shows up pregnant and searching for help from Dr. Cox, who has just started dating a smoking hot pharmaceutical sales rep. At first it seems as though Dr. Cox chose the hot rep... until the camera zooms out and reveals that he chose to take in Jordan instead, even though she's carrying a baby that isn't his (or so he thinks!)
* One moment that was very powerful happened. Elaine (a patient with a faulty heart) is crashing and [[BrickJoke we go into a JD fantasy sequence of her in a stunning dress in a spotlight singing "Waiting For My Real Life To Begin". It's just an absolutely beautiful moment.]]
** After Elaine flatlines, Dr. Cox walks out of the room and quietly asks a stunned J.D. if he's going to be okay.
* During "My Sex Buddy", Elliot is just so frazzled and unable to do her job properly after being cut off financially by her [[AbusiveParent dad]] and then evicted from her apartment that he paid for. While staying with J.D. and Turk, she's sleeping with J.D. the whole time and it's not helping her at all. Turk tries to help by getting all of her patients to ask for a new doctor so Elliot has time to get her life on track and Dr. Cox ends up having to talk to Elliot and say that it's not easy to balance your personal and professional life, but it's doable and to get her life in order. He then says not to tell anyone.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDUK_h_jxxQ The ending]] of "His Story". Turk and Carla finally get engaged with J.D. there to watch them get married, then he [[BrickJoke ran around them in a circle with sparklers.]]
* Dr. Cox trying to care for Jordan when she's about to give birth, then getting J.D. to keep an eye on Jordan for him and then bursting into Jordan's room and refusing to leave in "My Karma".
--> '''Dr. Cox''': Hey, Girl's Name!
--> '''J.D.''': What?
--> '''Dr. Cox''': Give me a break, I've got a lot on my mind, Ellen. Oh look at that, I bounced back! Anyway, the cavebat just kicked me out of its lair. So I need you to go in there and occasionally poke her with a broomstick and see how she's doing.
--> '''J.D.''': Dr. Cox, I--
--> '''Dr. Cox''': A but but but! Please, just check on her.
* In the next episode, Dr. Cox mentions to J.D. that he's trying his hardest to make his relationship with Jordan work this time and hopes that he's doing the right thing.
* Another Dr. Cox one, in the season 2 episode, "My Interpretation", he is trying to not spend time with Jordan's son (He's unaware that it's his at this point). Partially because of annoyance and partially because when Cox looks at him, he doesn't feel anything. So one day he goes home to tell Jordan this when she's trying to give her son a name. After a second he suggests, "Jack?" in a not so serious way. In response, the child giggles and smiles, and so Jordan says that he'll be named Jack while Dr. Cox stares at him, his expression surprised as he realizes that he does care for the boy.
** In the same episode J.D. accidentally sees the Janitor naked and notices a melanoma on Janitor's penis. Janitor agrees to let J.D. check the lump (which is benign) and awkwardly thanks him for his concern.
* The Dr. Cox and Jordan subplot of the second season finale, when Cox finds out that Jordan's baby is his, Cox makes it clear that whilst he's mad at Jordan, he wants to be part of his son's life and tries to break up with Jordan, who refuses to do so since Jordan refuses to play their game of "One person walks away and the other is too stubborn to go after them" and refuses to leave him alone until he agrees to come home with her. He finally caves in and agrees.
** When Cox is confiding in J.D that he's scared that he'll be a terrible father to Jack, J.D. points out that Cox will be a great father since he sent J.D. and Turk home for drinking whilst on call and they deserved it. Cox and J.D. see Kelso picking on Elliot to make her cry, J.D. outright says that if Cox was Elliot's dad, he'd know what to do. Cox punches Kelso in the face and outright tells Elliot that she's doing a good job before he leaves with a big grin on his face. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlxUmrPH2d4 Just Watch It.]]
--->'''Dr. Cox punches Kelso in the face'''\
'''Dr. Cox:''' You're doing fine, Barbie.\
'''Elliot:''' Thank you?

!!Season 3
* The ending for "My Brother, Where Art Thou". Dan secretly confronts Dr. Cox about being J.D.'s mentor and demands he takes it more seriously, or he would have to answer to Dan.
-->'''Dan:''' Listen, Dr. Cox. No offense, I'm a big fan of the tough guy act, but let me tell you what I really think. I think that you love that these kids idolize you, Johnny does. Johnny was the one we all knew was going someplace, sweet kid, smart kid. Becoming a doctor, this is all he ever wanted, but somehow, you found a way to beat that out of him, haven't you, and turned him into some cynical guy who seems to despise what he does. Dr. Cox, Johnny's never going to look up to me, ever. But he hangs on your every word. So I'm asking--I'm '''telling''' you, take that responsibility seriously, stop being such a hardass or otherwise, you're going to have to answer to me.
** Dan standing up to him and passionately sticking up for J.D. actually impressed Dr. Cox enough to shake his hand in sincere respect and wish him well.
* In "My Screw Up"
** Ben's hallucination tells Dr. Cox that J.D. was not to blame for Ben going into cardiac arrest; J.D. was swamped, and Ben hadn't seen a doctor for two years. It gives Dr. Cox the strength to apologize to J.D for scapegoating him.
** After Cox's rant to JD about the birthday party, the sudden return to reality at the end and the line [[WhamLine "Where do you think we are?"]]. Cox shows genuine emotion and sadness as Jordan and JD comfort him.
** In the subplot, Kelso has been dodging Carla, who's seeking advice about Turk's mole, which she hates. Kelso relates to her a story about Enid's snoring and delivers the Aesop that the thing she hates so much may be what she misses when it's gone.
** Very minor one, but when they are at the service, JD is in the front row, a place for family and close friends. It shows that JD was relatively close to Ben and Dr. Cox.
** Half the usual hospital cast show up to Ben's funeral. Whether the knew Ben or not... they're there for Cox. Even Ted.
* Jordan's friends come to cheer her up while she's grieving, despite Dr. Cox hating them. They tell off J.D. for trying to make them leave. Jordan in the meantime knows that J.D. only did that because he's worried about Dr. Cox's feelings and calls out her ex-husband accordingly.
* In "My Rule of Thumb", a terminally ill patient regrets that she's going to die a virgin. Carla and Elliot try to elicit a male escort for her, which doesn't go as planned. However, when they come back, they discover that Maggie ''has'' found somebody to sleep with... [[ThrowTheDogABone Ted]], who she had a nice moment with earlier in the episode. She lovingly tells him it was worth the wait, and he seems happy and at ease for once.
* In another episode, Kelso goes to great lengths to treat his gardener well. Carla points out that this gardener has known Kelso for years, and doesn't seem to hate him. Cox inquires if Kelso is [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold secretly a good person off the clock]], and though Kelso tells Cox it's none of his damn business, we later see Kelso treating the gardener's whole family to ice cream.
* The episode 'My Fault', has Dr Cox throw a bet with Kelso to stop Harvey Corman from having a full body scan, explaining that knowing everything wrong with himself would haunt him to the end of his days and he'll be damned if he lets that happen. Considering their already rocky history at this point, it's one hell of a gesture from Cox.
* In "My Clean Break", the framing device of the episode is that Cox is talking to his therapist about how he's happy with his family and it's affecting (negatively) his abilities as a teacher, and the realization that he's only effective as a teacher when his pupils fear him, then closes it out saying "I'm telling you this because it's going to affect you," with the reveal that he's been talking to his infant son.

!!Season 4
* Jordan and Cox learn that due to a mix-up by Ted their divorce was never made official meaning they're still married. After a few days of the new status quo they're absolutely miserable, and not in their usual SlapSlapKiss way. After some counselling from Molly, Cox runs home and ''begs'' Jordan to divorce him to save their relationship. They even throw a wedding-style party attended by their co-workers to celebrate making the divorce official again.
* It's always great when [[HeterosexualLifePartners J.D and Turk]] have a heart-to-heart. In particular, My New Game's ending, after J.D. briefly doubts Turk after a patient dies whilst he's operating on the patient.
-->'''JD''': Dude, it was one second of doubt. Since when do you care what anyone thinks?\
'''Turk''': I don't, I care what you think.
* The 4th season Christmas episode, "My Best Moment." J.D. promises a patient who comes in with a son that he'll be home by Christmas, only to be immediately reprimanded for making such a hard-to-keep promise. After the episode looks like it's building up towards a DownerEnding, the recovering patient is pushed back into the ward with a triumphant Turk telling everyone that he's going to be fine, while “Joy to the World” is playing in the background. JD later confirms that the patient and his son did indeed make home in time for Christmas, just like he had promised. The episode ends with the main cast calling it their 'best moment in medicine'.
** Dr. Cox describing JD as his 'drunk baby', acknowledging that while he may make mistakes, he does genuinely entertain Cox and is ultimately his responsibility. It's a rare show of fondness that he had for JD
** Bonus: he's comparing JD to his own son Jack.
** Kelso demands that they stabilize the patient and move him to a different hospital as he doesn't have insurance, and ignores Turk's pleas to let the guy stay there. But he changes his mind after he meets the patient's son, a sweet boy called Tyler, who asks to play baseball with Kelso sometime on learning that his own son wasn't into sports. Crosses briefly into hilarity when Kelso makes a phone call to ask if they can find a room for the patient, after all, only to follow it up with a testy “Yes, this IS Bob Kelso!” when the person on the other end expresses their surprise at his change of heart.
** While she's uneasy around children, Elliot takes care of Tyler while his dad is being treated. She distracts Tyler by showing him around the hospital, and even gives him money for chocolate milk, though it backfires when he runs away. And after she finds Tyler (he got scared and hid), she reassures him by telling him how she used to hide around the hospital when she got scared, and then why she stopped hiding.
--->'''Tyler''': You really got scared?\
'''Elliot''': Yeah. Everybody does here at first.\
'''Tyler''': So...how did you stop being scared?\
'''Elliot''': I just realized that people here need me to be brave. Just like your dad needs you to be brave for his operation.
** Turk is the one who asks Kelso to let the patient stay at Sacred Heart, though he was coaxed into it by JD offering him a pack of so-called “Christmas Gum”. However, Turk is the one who lets Tyler watch him perform surgery on his father, despite being uncomfortable with it.
* In "My Cake", Dr. Cox spends the entire episode trying to help J.D by taking all his patients, trying to offer him a hug and then in the end, rallies Dan, who'd been sitting in the bathtub the entire episode. To comfort him in a way that everyone involved is comfortable with: Dr. Cox and Dan sit with J.D drinking beer, talking about his father and Dr. Cox and Dan admitting they are proud of J.D.
** After JD's dad dies the Janitor steps aside to let him get in the door and doesn't hassle him all episode.
** "In loving memory of our friend John Ritter" sold it for many as well.
** In the subplot, Turk finds out he has type two Diabetes and takes the whole episode to admit to Carla that he has it, but instead of yelling at him for not telling her straight away, she's completely supportive and already knows and has sugar free food recipes and articles for him.
** The lyrics of the song while J.D. and Dan are talking about a funny moment with their dad counts as a [[TearJerker tear jerker]] as well as a heartwarming moment.
--->"Stop joking around for one minute, I'd rather cry right now,"
* In "My Common Enemy", Dr. Cox calling out Dan for hooking up with Elliot and "continuing to be the worst big brother ever," showing just how protective he is over J.D.
* In "My Best Laid Plans" the Janitor's little moment with Elliot is pretty heartwarming.
--> '''Janitor''': You're the only one around here that treats me like a real person.
--> '''Elliot''': What did you say?
--> '''Janitor''': There was one other girl a few years ago, red haired doctor. She used to eat lunch with me until the other residents made fun of her. They called her "Janitor lunch eater", not the most clever group. Anyway, I know that you don't think about me the way I think about you and I never really believed that you would or that you could. But just pretending for today made me feel good for a change. I'm sorry.
--> '''Elliot''': You know what, it's ok. I actually had a good time.
--> '''Elliot smiles and walks out'''
--> '''Janitor''': Thanks...Elliot.
--> '''Janitor smiles to himself and walks out as well'''
* Doug finding his niche as a pathologist, which doubles as his character's SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome. Up until that point, he was a pathetic, nervous failure [[TheWoobie for whom being a doctor was clearly a living hell]]; seeing him finally feeling comfortable and self-confident just never fails to bring on a smile.
* In "My Changing Ways," Jordan is afraid that taking on a bigger job at the hospital will make her a worse mother. Dr. Cox, who was practically begging for her to quit the job earlier, says this to her.
-->'''Dr. Cox''': Sweetie, you are an evil, soulless, chemically-enhanced battle axe that I truly doubt is 100% human, but...you are an ''amazing'' mom.
* Cox spends "My Last Chance" being forced to ride around in an ambulance with a driver who won't stop talking. At the end of the episode he works out that the son she mentioned several times is [[OutlivingOnesOffspring dead]]. During the final montage we see that Cox brought his toddler son Jack to the hospital to cheer her up.
** The woman tells Cox that the paramedics that tried to save her son did amazing work, and their efforts inspired her to become one herself.

!!Season 5
* At the end of "My Jiggly Ball", when, after a patient dies because of him, Dr. Kelso steps out of the hospital, and, instead of whistling carefree like he always does, is still obviously troubled, showing he does care. Especially when the main cast walks by and he tries to resume whistling to hide the fact.
* Dr. Cox showing up at his son's baptism, even though he hates that it's happening. Followed by explaining to his sister why he hates seeing her (He can't stop thinking of his DarkAndTroubledPast when he sees her and she admits it's hard for her too) and making the effort to not let it stop her from being there for his son's birthday and having a quick game of Basketball before she leaves to head home.
* J.D. giving Keith an interesting medical case, not out favoritism, but because he's genuinely the best intern, at the same time admitting to Elliot and himself that he's a good guy.
* J.D. and Cox finally getting over their grief about Mrs. Wilk's death in "My Five Stages".
* When everyone is hugging after Carla announces her pregnancy (to Kutless's 'All Of The Words', no less) in ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'', you can't help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
** Following the scene right before when J.D. narrates, "Then I witnessed one of those moments that let me know in my heart that these two would be together forever."
* J.D. convincing Dr. Cox to "go the extra mile" in the appropriately named "My Extra Mile," ending with Cox reading lines with a patient auditioning for a play when he gets discharged.
* Another great one is the end of the Janitor's [[ADayInTheLimelight viewpoint story]] in "His Story III". A patient who was mute could only speak through a program that allowed him to type through a series of blinks on his computer. After it breaks, the Janitor makes repeated visits to the patient to talk to him all day long and keep him company. When the new computer finally arrives, the patient thanks the Janitor for being with him.
** Especially how the sequence is presented. For most of the episode, it looks like the Janitor is just bothering this patient who just continues to look at him with this blank, bewildered expression on his face. Only at the end, when his new computer gets in, do we learn that the patient actually liked the Janitor. What's especially heartwarming is (a) the notion that the Janitor spent the day with him and keep him company, talking to him like a real person and not like just information on a chart and (b) the Janitor doesn't hear the patient's "Thank You," but he continues on nonetheless. The Janitor does make a difference in people's lives, in his own way.
* In "My Lunch", J.D. is trying to get Dr. Cox to have lunch with him and throughout the episode, he runs into Jill Tracy and finds her annoying and tries to avoid her when they shop at the same grocery store. Turns out she overdosed on cocaine due to severe depression and problems in her personal life and J.D. ended up feeling really bad because he thinks he could have done something to save her. Dr. Cox finally agrees to go have lunch with him after hearing that J.D. thinks it's all his fault that Jill died and flatout tells J.D. that it's not his fault because she didn't go to the hospital and doctors who blame themselves for deaths that aren't their fault, they'll fall into a downward spiral and destroy themselves as doctors and he refuses to let it happen to J.D.
-->'''Dr. Cox:''' Once you start blaming yourself for deaths that aren't your fault, my friend that's a slippery slope you can't come back from. I've seen ruin alot of good doctors and I '''will not''' let it happen to you.
* In "My Fallen Idol", J.D. tells Dr. Cox that, even though he gave three patients that could've waited a little longer transplant organs filled with rabies, he made the right choice (testing the organs for something as rare as rabies would have taken time the patients didn't have) and that JD is proud of him. "Not for doing your best, but, after twenty years of being a doctor you can still take it this hard." The whole scenario lets you know both that everybody likes Dr. Cox and he actually ''does'' care about J.D., actually [[OutOfCharacterMoment calling him by name]] and patting him on the shoulder to thank him. Tears abound.
** Kelso's shift at Cox's apartment deserves a mention. He admits that Cox keeps him in line, then frankly admits that both he and the hospital need Dr Cox back.
* When the Janitor uses some of the money he stole from Kelso to buy Enid a new pantsuit.
-->'''Janitor''': All I think is that leather never goes out of style. And if you're gonna keep your money in a pickle jar, you should probably know how much is in there. And that it never hurts to buy your invalid wife something nice, so maybe she can feel pretty. And these are general thoughts about life. Nothing specific to you.

!!Season 6
* Turk is so happy about his child being born that he hires a drummers' band to celebrate, complete with cheerleaders. They are also there in the waiting room at the end.
* Kelso freeing Turk's hand from the ice machine just in time for him to witness the birth of his child and tells him to get in there. He arrives and comforts Carla as she needs a C-section.
* Turk is so happy that his daughter is born that he carries her into the waiting room, announcing her name Isabella and that she has a clean bill of health. Even the Janitor and Dr. Kelso are applauding.
* Jordan helping Carla through her postpartum depression.
* "My Musical" has so many moments:
** A crowd of people appears to help Ms. Miller when she collapses. They stay with her as she faints, and someone calls an ambulance. While with J.D. and Elliott they do it because they're doctors, but everyone else didn't have to help.
** The entire hospital sings "We're Going to Miss You, Carla" because of how much she's helped them. This makes Carla doubt her decision to stay away from work for a year.
** Dr. Cox is a {{Jerkass}} at first to Ms. Miller, believing she has a psychiatric problem that makes her hear everyone singing. He then sobers up on learning she has a serious aneurysm that can go off at any moment, and tells her quietly, with an apologetic JerkassRealization look.
** The Guy Love song.
** "What's Going to Happen?" is what Ms. Miller sings before she goes into surgery, when it isn't a TearJerker: "What does the future hold? So many things that I put off, assuming I had time, assuming I'd grow old." It quickly softens when Dr. Cox and the other doctors tell her, "You're going to be okay, that's what's going to happen, everything's okay. We will be beside you, we won't let you slip away. Plan for tomorrow, 'cause we promise you, you're going to be okay."
** After she's in recovery, Ms. Miller thanks the doctors for saving her life. Then J.D. makes her laugh by asking who was the best singer in her head.
* Dr. Cox is sitting in the doctors' lounge watching TV, running over in his head all the negative, lifelong implications of the fact that prenatal surgeons are working on his and Jordan's second child. He's thoroughly worried and upset... and all that goes away when he learns he's going to have a daughter.
* Jordan telling Dr. Cox that she's really glad she has him in her life after he's been working hard to take care of her after some surgery she had to have earlier in the season.
* Afterward, when he lashes out at Laverne for saying bad things happen for a reason, she puts him in his place. Dr. Cox is actually moved enough to apologize. Laverne accepts his apology and reminds him that there is always a way to look at silver linings. Dr. Cox thinks that at least the baby is healthy, and Jordan and he have become closer.
* Kelso hadn't been speaking to Elliot after she went to private practice. But when she wound up with a deceased patient's dog, she entrusted it to Kelso, who's own beloved Baxter had recently died. Kelso lifts Elliot's suspension for bringing the dog to the hospital in the first place, though he does remind Eliot that he thinks she's a miserable excuse for a doctor, keeping up his normal facade.
** Also in this episode - Elliot is upset that Kelso is being such a jerk, but then Carla makes her realize that while it's great that she got this new job, Kelso and the hospital spent years training her, only to have her leave, and did she ever even thank him? At the end of the episode, she does.
* The episode ending is a TearJerker when Dr. Cox sees the cast gathered in concern, especially when J.D. has to tell him that Laverne ended up in a bad car accident and is nonresponsive while comatose. Dr. Kelso is noticeably quiet. Yet it is sweet that Dr. Cox realizes that something is wrong, and he softens his usual sarcasm, and more so that the main cast were comforting each other.
* The entire episode when Laverne dies, also a TearJerker.

!!Season 7
* "My Rabbit"
** J.D. says that he wants to name the baby after his father, with the full name being Sam Perry Gilligan Dorian.
** After they see how huge Sam's head is in the womb, J.D. has an adorable ImagineSpot. He thinks of Sam going trick-or-treating and giving a tiny "Dammit" when a neighbor giving candy recognizes him for the oversized head. Just how high-pitched the curse is and how J.D. imagines his son having a lot of candy corn.
* "My Hard Labor"
** The fact that J.D. was willing to spend his entire life with a woman who lied to him about miscarrying, so that Sam has a good life.
** When Kim goes into labor, J.D. insists on celebrating by doing a jump-hug with Turk, Carla, and Izzy who's in a Snuggie. He admits it was lame but actually enjoyed it.
** When J.D. blurts out that he doesn't love Kim, right as she goes into labor without pain medicine, he's booted out of the delivery room. Dr. Cox offers him comfort in exchange for doing Jennifer Dylan's shot. Dr. Cox gives him a blunt YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre that he's not going to ruin his kid's life by breaking up with Kim. In particular, the doctor points out that J.D.'s own parents were divorced and he turned out great. Of course, Dr. Cox reneges on the deal when walking away after J.D. asks if Dr. Cox would consider him a good son, but it gives J.D. the courage he needs to return to Kim's side.
** J.D. and Kim's son is born, as he insists on coming back and tolerating her barrage of insults. They take a moment to admire how beautiful Sam is.
** Turk and Carla bond over how hard it can be to be a parent and beating a video game together so that Turk is no longer distracted.
** Dr. Cox spends the entire episode trying to get his daughter a shot so she has no reason to fear him. He finally gets Keith to do it.
** Kelso comforts his son over the phone after a bad breakup.
* The end of the episode 'My Dumb Luck'. Especially Kelso's last line on screen and "Ted, thanks for everything. Sincerely". This doubles as a TearJerker.
** Hell, that whole damn episode. Kelso's scenes with Boone, especially telling Boone he's gonna love his next 20 years at Sacred Heart, him thanking Elliot and Carla, and when Boone says that Kelso really does love Sacred Heart.
* Dr. Cox spending all of 'My Princess' telling his son a bedtime story and even sneaking back into his room to tell him the rest of the story. Dr. Cox is a fantastic dad, despite his many flaws.
** Additionally, after he finishes the story and exits Jack's room, we see Jordan sitting just outside, having listened to the whole thing with genuine interest. She presses Perry about whether or not it was true that the patient survived the experience, and when Perry answers in a way that implies it might not have been the case, the two of them lean on each other for support.

!!Season 8
* "My Jerks":
** The Janitor trips J.D. ForTheEvulz and mocks him for trying to be nice. He just made one error: Dr. Maddox was listening in the background. She looks horrified, gets an EveryoneHasStandards moment, and confronts the Janitor by asking a question: "[[ArmorPiercingQuestion Do you think it would have been funny if he had broken his neck]]?" The Janitor starts to chuckle, only to go OhCrap as Dr. Maddox glares at him. She fires him on the spot as he keeps demeaning her. For the first time, someone actually took action to protect J.D. And Maddox doesn't even ''like'' J.D. as a doctor.
** When Dr. Maddox sees the Janitor has returned to work, after giving an automatic "Good morning," she asks him to walk with her. In a ReasonableAuthorityFigure, she tells him that fired means fired, and just because Dr. Kelso tolerated these behaviors from him or Jimmy the orderly doesn't mean that she will. She gets him out of the hospital as he waxes on about how this is normal for Sacred Heart, confiscates his single key, and orders him not to walk back inside. All without having to call security. Doubles as SugarWiki/AwesomeMoments that it was a BadassPacifist move.
* "My Cookie Pants: J.D. has been lamenting about how Denise doesn't know how to be caring and empathetic towards patients. Denise tells him she knows after telling him not to apologize for chewing her out about ordering a colonoscopy for a patient that didn't seem to need one. That's ''why'' she wants him as her mentor because she knows she is a hardass and it's not good for any doctor to be like that. J.D. kindly tells her ultimately she needs to figure out how to become more caring and doesn't need him. Every doctor has that strength.
* J.D. and Dr. Cox talking like equals in the cafeteria. J.D. ditched his interns and Cox is finding out why and after listening to J.D. vent how he's tired of the intern's attitudes and ignorance and just plain tired, he's sympathetic and understands how he feels since he's tired of having to be the thankless MoralityChain for the Chief of Medicine that he was for Kelso. Cox also mentions having an intern who pissed him off so much, his therapist put him on a suicide / homicide watch. That intern became a pretty good doctor though.
--> '''J.D.''': So this intern you mentioned earlier, I bet he turned out to be a pretty amazing doctor, huh?
--> '''Cox''': [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Actually, it was a she.]]
--> '''J.D.''': It wasn't me?
--> '''Cox''': No no, it was you, it was you.
* In "My Last Words", Turk and JD give up their "Steak Night" to spend a night (and a beer) with a dying patient. Their last conversation and George's death is set to "I Will Follow You Into the Dark". After George dies, they go to the roof and fire a flare gun into the night. "Goodbye George".
** Dr. Maddox gruffly tells them if they're comforting a patient after their shift is done, it's fine with her as long as they change out of their scrubs.
** JD's "Mr Longbeard Stinkypants" story from same episode showing the quiet level of impact his father was able to have in a random homeless man's life through simple kindness.
* At the end of "My Happy Place" when J.D. and Elliot get back together after Kelso tells them to "screw what everyone else thinks and do what makes you happy". It's a double-whammy because J.D. and Elliot get back together and Kelso sits down and admits he loves his life at Coffeebucks.
-->(''J.D. and Elliot grasp hands as they walk out of the hospital.'')
-->'''Elliot''': ''This'' seems like a good idea.
-->(''Beat'')
-->'''J.D.''': (''smiles and shrugs'') Who cares?
-->(''Still walking, the two lean on each other and J.D. kisses Elliot on the forehead'')
** In the same episode Ted is genuinely happy to see Janitor is back at the hospital even if he hasn't technically been rehired yet. When Whitney from payroll starts handing out the paychecks Ted tells Janitor to run so he won't be embarrased when he doesn't get one. After Janitor [[BavarianFireDrill tricks his way back into the system]] Ted is so happy he hurts his face smiling.
* Cox begging Maddox to stop handcuffing them so that they can help their patients. Being as prideful as Cox is this shows just how much he cares and that he's willing to do anything, even beg, in order to help them.
* Elliot and JD assume that a patient is trying to scam them for meds when his tests come back negative, but Elliot quickly realises that it's actually his daughter who is suffering from MS, and her father only lied because he's insured and she isn't. They immediately decide to give them the drugs anyway, only for Dr Maddox to kick them out after having come to the same conclusion. Fortunately they're eventually able to give the daughter the drugs she needs after Dr Maddox is fired, all the while pretending they're actually for her father.
* After Kelso's retirement, he and Dr. Cox finally bury the hatchet when Cox asks him to help remove the new Chief of Medicine, who is even more of a Jerkass than Kelso was. Kelso agrees, but only if Cox will admit to having missed him. Cox states that while he always hated Kelso, he did feel that his former foe had managed to look the other way a couple of times while Cox was bending, stretching or breaking rules, and that Cox felt that he (Kelso) was burdened by the job he had to do.
** Very small, but Donnie throwing a muffin at Cox in defense of Kelso was kind of sweet considering everyone usually hates Kelso. Bob even thanks him.
** After Ted suffer's a severe shock from seeing Kelso back in his old office, Kelso puts a blanket on Ted and asks J.D. if everyone is still taking care of him since he left.
*** This also doubles as a SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}} when JD explains that they've been taking Ted on walks and then Kelso scratches Ted behind the ears.
** After Cox is promoted to the Chief of Medicine position (On Kelso's recommendation), Kelso explains that it is now up to J.D. to keep Cox focused on what's important, because he's out of his element, and that J.D. must now fill the roll that Cox filled when Kelso was Chief of Medicine.
* Ted, the hospital lawyer and the girl he has a crush on doing a duet in the episode "My Lawyer's in Love." ''D'awww''.
* After spending most of the show as a creepy sex pest, the Todd appears to have found a long-term polyamourous relationship with a husband and wife couple. It might be unconventional, but they all seem very happy and it's a lot healthier than constantly hitting on unconsenting co-workers.
* Turk asks new intern Howie (a shy, bespectacled type) how he got a difficult patient to take his medicine.
-->'''Howie''': I may have given him a little slap
--> (Turk nods knowingly and approvingly)
-->'''Turk''': You'll do fine here.
* Don't forget the ending of "My Soul on Fire Part 2". Janitor's wedding to Lady, itself a crowning moment of heartwarming, inspires a collection of crowning moments of heartwarming for each major couple to Ted's acoustic cover of "Hey Ya", which makes everything seem more poignant and beautiful (and wacky at the same time too, in classic Scrubs fashion). From Carla putting aside her mommish ways for the moment to be the sexy wife Turk had missed, to Jordan bringing herself closer to an healthy relationship with Cox by admitting genuine affection for him (accompanied by Cox's reaction of grabbing her and jumping into the pool with her) to the king of crowning moments of heartwarming between JD and Elliot, when he gives her the tiki amulet after delivering possibly the most heartwarming and romantic confession in the entire series:
-->'''JD''': I never really believed that I'd find somebody that I'd love as much as you. I love you more than anyone in the world. Elliot... I love you more than Turk.
* "My Finale" is full of these, especially when JD made his good-byes to everyone.
** The JD/Carla scene was wonderful:
--->'''Carla''': Tell me my husband loves me more than he loves you.\
'''JD''': It's about the same.\
'''Carla''': I'll take it. I'm gonna miss you, Bambi.\
'''JD''': I'm gonna miss you too.
** One that doubles as a SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}}: JD gives Dr. Cox a present: a book of all the [[ContinuityNod long-winded rants]] Cox has ever made to JD. The two of them read the one from "My Old Friend's New Friend" together.
** J.D. saying goodbye to Elliot and Turk by telling Elliot that yes, he wants her to move in with him and if he didn't, he'd make it obvious and telling Turk that his goodbye was perfect.
** Jordan legitimately giving JD a heartfelt goodbye, simply because it was so out of character. Her reasoning, being she wants to be nicer to people "For my stupid kids" should count
*** Right after that, Ted allowing Jordan to be horrible to him, because it "seems like you need it". Also notable that Jordan visibly struggles to come up with something mean to say about him, showing she's finally softening up
** J.D. and the Janitor parting on good terms, not to mention J.D. finally learning the Janitor's name. [[spoiler: It's Glenn Matthews.]]
** Dr. Cox's speech to Sunny.
--->'''Sunny''': He's finally gone. Talk about making a big deal over nothing, y'know? I mean, Dr. Dorian was fine, but he was no better than any other doctor.
--->'''Dr. Cox''': For the record, he was the best that ever came through this dump. John Dorian was the first and only doctor I ever met who cared as much as I do, and you can forget about him being just an exceptional physician. 'Cause the fact of the matter is, he's a damn exceptional person. That's why people gravitated to him. That's why I did. He was my friend.
** Of course, Dr. Cox's reaction when he realizes that J.D. heard (and in fact planned) the whole thing doubles as a SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}}.
** ESPECIALLY the ending where he walks down the hallway to the front door, where all the Scrubs characters throughout the years send him off. Out the front door, he looks on at his "Goodbye JD" tarp and imagines his future with a pregnant Elliot, his friendship with Turk, and finally getting his hug from Dr. Cox. All ending with the creator Creator/BillLawrence himself playing a janitor who takes down the tarp. He bid JD a good night; and JD thinks to himself, "Who's to say my fantasy won't come true, just this once?", implying that the future JD imagined for himself WILL happen. And finally, JD drives away from Sacred Heart Hospital, ending his last day there all the while a slow instrumental to the Scrubs theme playing.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiJGk3Rzbvs The Book Of Love]].
** JD's fantasy version of Mickhead tells him that he didn't kill his wife, referring to the running joke from previous seasons. Whether he did or not, it's a testament to JD's sweetness that he wants to believe that.
* When a young patient is paralyzed from the neck down, his father begs Turk to do everything that he can for him. Turk agonizes about using a controversial new procedure on the patient, as it carries an incredibly high-risk factor. If it fails, Turk could lose his job, and would most likely be sued on top of that. While discussing it with Carla, who would also be deeply affected, she simply asks him what he would do if it were one of their children. Turk finds his answer and goes ahead with the treatment. ''It actually works''.

!!Season 9
* The Janitor quit Sacred Heart the day after the Season 8 finale, purely because he realized JD had genuinely left the hospital and wasn't coming back.
* In "Our True Lies", when it's revealed that Lucy cheated during an important exam, angering Cox to the point that he forces her, Cole, Drew, Denise, Maya, and Trang to sit in the exam room until one of them confesses, the others decide not to rat her out to Cox, knowing that it will be the end of her future at Sacred Heart and acknowledging that they've all felt just as stressed as Lucy has. This comes even though Cox tells them that he's going to force them to retake an even harder version of the test at 4:00 a.m....outside...with Cox threatening to constantly spray the hose to simulate it raining on them.
-->'''Cole''': The truth is, I'm drowning here, too. And the only reason I'm surviving is because of you. I mean, this place is straight up Chuck Norris -- tough as balls.
-->'''Maya''': We're all having trouble.
-->'''Lucy''': Even you, Drew?
-->'''Drew''': Nah. [[TheAtoner But, uh, I've had like 15 second chances in my life.]] You deserve at least one, right? Just...don't do it again.
* Drew and Denise's relationship, with the former having someone to finally confide in after spending so much time feeling regretful for what he's done over the last several years of his life while the latter has someone to open up to emotionally. In "Our True Lies", Drew tells Denise that he loves her, and by the end, she finally reciprocates.
* The whole arc with Cole wanting to become a surgeon, simply because Turk had saved his life and he wanted to do the same for others. As maligned as Season 9 was, this was a genuine good moment for the character.
-->'''Turk''': Listen, I've been thinking about it, and amazingly enough, the same things that make you a complete douche also give you the potential to be a good surgeon. So, uh, it'd be an honor to teach you, ''if'' that's something you ''really'' want.
