Yes, even with all the [[NightmareFuel terrifying phenomena]], [[ApocalypseHow reality destroying artifacts]], and [[OmnicidalManiac murderously hateful entities]], there are a [[PetTheDog few genuine moments of humanity (or otherwise) and kindness]] on the parts of both the Foundation and the [=SCPs=].

* At first, it wouldn't seem like the [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/wjs-proposal WJS SCP-001 proposal]] would be a heartwarmer, since it's merely a document that establishes the Foundation's rules of the universe. However, unlocking the hidden portion of the file reveals a message from O5-5. It's a long write-up addressed to the most powerful of sentient [=SCPs=] who manage to access it that states that even though the Foundation's main mission is to protect normalcy, they're also dedicated to protecting the lives of the innocent sentient [=SCPs=] from the world and from themselves, because they exist, they're real, and they deserve to stay that way. Like a special-needs child, they're different, and need to be taken care of accordingly. Combined with the brief NoFourthWall moment, it's oddly sweet for a 001 proposal.
--> '''O5-5:''' Yes, you are a monster. But, whether we are deemed anomalous or not, so is every last one of us. And that means you deserve your existence.\
We secure you.\
We contain you.\
We protect you.\
And even if you still don't get why I'm doing this, please understand that I still love you.
* Many of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/project-isorropia Project Isorropia]] (an extension of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/keter-duty IHP/Locke's SCP-001 proposal]]) have entries that are either hilarious or dark, but there's a few that are just plain cute:
** SCP-040, a child who can alter the physical characteristics of living beings, is tested on SCP-4259, an anti-memetic, infohazardous entity whose anti-memetic effects don’t function on young children. The result? A child-like drawing of the two with text beneath it saying “she made her nicer”.
** The one involving SCP-6777 and SCP-5554 is surprisingly heartwarming, with both of them becoming collaborative Virtual [=YouTubers=]. The interaction between them greatly improves their mental well-being and lessens their neurotic behavior. Like other entries in Keter Duty and Project Isorropia, it also has the effect of neutralizing the dangerous effects of both entities by having 5554-1 accounts post praise for the videos, therefore giving 6777 social attention without being actual human worshippers that would increase her influence on the real world.
** SCP-6596, a member of [[red:the fae with power over nomenclature]] who makes a habit of ransacking [[purple:the Foundation facility in Poland]] and stole the names of both the site and its director when it was not given anything to steal, was given a number of smartphones containing SCP-1471 (the app that generates a skull-faced humanoid visible only in pictures and mirrors to keep the owner company). The last messages received by devices containing 1471 were a selfie of 6596 embracing 1471-A and a message from 6596, both suggesting that the two of them really hit it off with one another, and 6596 was apparently so happy it returned the names of Site-120 and its director.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/lily-s-proposal The World's Gone Beautiful]], Lily's Proposal for SCP-001, is a phenomenon discovered through observations of parallel universes and may occur in ours as well. While its appearance comes with the knowledge that [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt life will end within 24 hours]], in that time, what happens? All air pollution will clear up, the weather will be calm and comfortable, vibrant flowers will bloom across 90% of the Earth's surface, and global violence will heavily decrease. The Foundation's protocol is to honorably discharge all personnel, including D-Classes, and all sapient and non-aggressive SCPs are to be set free. They will also release instances of SCP-514[[note]] Doves with an anomalous presence that destroys weapons and suppresses violence and aggression in humans [[/note]] around the world. Even with the end on the horizon, rather than dissolving into ApocalypseAnarchy, the last day on Earth will be one filled with peace and beauty.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-011 SCP-011]], Sentient Civil War Memorial Statue. It's a sentient statue of a Union soldier from the Civil War. Considering most examples of moving, sentient statues in the database tend to be homicidal, the fact that this one is largely harmless (except when it's covered in bird poop) is rather refreshing. It engages amicably with the people in the park before being taken into SCP custody, is friendly and cooperative with the SCP staff, and even develops a crush on one of the female researchers. D'awww. The Foundation even concludes that it's completely safe and ''release it from containment'', entrusting it to the researcher it's attracted to.
* In a sort of Fridge Heartwarming, the fact that [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-040 SCP-040]], Evolution's Child, is allowed to keep the three most harmless instances of [[PetMonstrosity SCP-040-1]] for her "mental well being" is rather sweet, because not only does it show that the personnel [[PetTheDog care about her well-being enough to allow her to have companionship in the form of pets]], but that the fact that she'd ''want'' to keep these creatures as pets indicates that she really cares about her creations.
* The [[https://scp-wiki.wdfiles.com/local--files/scp-053/SCP-0053.jpg new image]] of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-053 SCP-053]], The Young Girl, depicts her playing with a toy lizard, obviously alluding to her OddFriendship with SCP-682. Although the heartwarming part is slightly mitigated by the fact that [[HatePlague a D-Class is ominously looming behind her with a knife]].
* "SCP-076-2 has however, shown that it has great knowledge of human anatomy (although in [[AxCrazy a highly violent context]]), military tactics of open warfare, metallurgy, and, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking strangely enough]], [[PetTheDog the care of livestock]]." Even after millenia of wrath, Able is still the first shepherd.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-079 SCP-079]], Old AI, is a sentient AI trapped inside a boxy 70s computer who is rather rude and hateful when conversing with SCP personnel. However, during a containment breach, SCP 079 was locked inside another SCP's cell, where it was seemingly able to make cordial conversation with it. Despite usually erasing its memory every 24 hours, the SCP-079 held on to the memory of the event and has expressed a wish to see its friend again. The SCP that 079 made friends with? ''682''. The idea of two very anti-social (and homicidal) [=SCPs=] becoming friends is kinda sweet in an odd way.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-085 SCP-085]], Hand-Drawn "Cassy", a sentient drawing of a young woman.
** The whole article is kind of sad, but the things the researchers do for her are [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/085-romance-adult wonderful]]. In a Foundation filled with stuff literally hell-bent on destroying all humans, SCP-085 comes across as one of the most heartwarming objects.
** Also, the way the Foundation has recorded treating her -- while most safe cases are treated as scientific curiosities, left alone when not being experimented on, instead they noticed Cassy was getting depressed and started providing her with things to do, like exploring Creator/MCEscher pictures, or building herself a car by borrowing pieces from the blueprints. A contrast to their usual spartan approach, and just because they want to keep her comfortable.
** Someone asked [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-294 SCP-294]] to produce "something Cassy will like". It dispensed an empty cup with a drawing of a glass with a brown liquid in it. The drawing was given to Cassy, who identified it as a chocolate banana milkshake, and said that it was "delicious".
** In another case, someone inserted a thousand yen along with a note asking for 'something for Cassy' into [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-261 SCP-261]] and it dispensed a drawing of a picnic scene, complete with a blanket, picnic basket and hand-cranked ice cream maker.
** In the discussion page for Cassy, some people were discussing putting Cassy back through [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-914 SCP-914]] (the same SCP that had animated Cassy in the first place) to try to turn her into a three-dimensional being. One person put this:
--->I'd be wary of putting Cassy back through it, even on 1:1. You never know when the damn thing is going to pick something bizarre; one-in-a-million chances happen with depressing regularity around here.\
\
Of course, I could just be paranoid. For all I know, she could come out of it as a human being. At the very least, we might turn her into a watercolor or a gouache -- or better yet, an oil painting.\
\
I just don't want to take something out that turns out to be completely inanimate. She's just a drawing, but she's a very nice one. I hate to think we might kill her.
** She is basically the whole Foundation's MoralityPet.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-131 SCP-131]], The "Eye Pods", is a pair of adorable creatures that are basically little, wheeled, one-eyed, teardrop-shaped pets. They have the intelligence of a domestic cat or puppy and are even affectionately called "Eye Pods" by staff and are, generally, adorable. The heartwarming comes when a group of staff get careless while cleaning 173's cell, and, before it can attack, the two of them rush in and stare at it (it should be noted that they don't blink), saving the men's lives. The Foundation even thinks about making them 173's wardens. And even though petting and affection to these two are to be kept at a minimum (to prevent the two from following and interfering with staff who work with Euclid and Keter class [=SCPs=]), the Foundation harshly reprimands anyone who tries to [[KickTheDog abuse]] the two, which is rare for the Foundation to actively prevent.
* The start of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/experiment-log-158-ag Experiment Log 158 AG]] sounds like the typical SCP fare. Professor K.P Crow attempts to use SCP-158, the Soul Extractor, a soul-removing robotic arm, to create a soul for an ArtificialHuman the Foundation is trying to create. It goes from horror right into Heartwarming at the end. Crow creates the composite soul he desires and dubs it "Project Zero". But when he transfers it into a body, any attempt at psych evaluation "goes out the window". At first. Then it reveals that the intelligence the new soul has created is something that exists in several planes simultaneously and is functionally invincible. EldritchAbomination, right? Well, after some initial communication issues, Crow learns that the intelligence he has created considers him something akin to a father. Crow assures it that it will get the best treatment and body he can provide. In return, all it asks for is a name, something other than "Zero". "A name, not a number". Crow suggests it names itself whatever it likes, to which the being says it will have to think about that for a while. She chooses [[MeaningfulName Sophia]].
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-163 SCP-163]], An Old Castaway, is an alien with whom communication is nearly impossible and who requires a special environment and lightning to function. Despite this, the Foundation not only freely provides it clean suits and flashlights to walk around the facility, after one experiment proved it enjoyed painting, there are standing orders to keep it fully stocked with supplies.
* The [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/experiment-log-191 experiment log]] for SCP-191, Cyborg Child, has a doctor giving it a UsefulNotes/{{Wii}} game to play, only for her to accidentally snap it in half. By the time he comes back with another disc (after about two minutes), the game is up and running. When questioned, the SCP (who, by the way, is a mechanical girl who speaks through text boxes) says this:
-->"I looked at the ones and the zeroes and I loaded those in. I'm sorry, I know I'm not supposed to do it this way, but I didn't want you to waste a disc. Please don't be angry."\
SCP-191 still seemed fearful of reprimand, even after being reassured that it was doing excellently.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-206 SCP-206]], The Voyager, is a space rover that moves autonomously through space and dimensions, sending back images of its journey to Earth. One set of said images depicts the funeral of a man, who was the chief engineer of the team who projected SCP-206. One of the images is blurred due to what appears to be a liquid. 206 is basically attending his father's funeral and crying.
* Something similar happens to [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-208 SCP-208]], Bes, a man who literally radiates an aura of friendliness.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/incident-239-b-clef-kondraki Incident-239-B-Clef-Kondraki]]:
** With no other options that would save her and maintain security the best he could, Dr. Gears put SCP-239, the Witch Child, into a medically induced coma. As he did so, he whispered "Goodnight, and sweet dreams."
** Another one from this incident. 3 days beforehand, SCP-239 wrote in her diary that she "did a bad thing". What was the bad thing? Bringing a dead bird back to life because its chicks were crying for their mother. Is it any wonder why [[SatanicArchetype Clef]] hates [[MessianicArchetype her]]?
* Researcher Adam █████, later O5-12, and his attempts to regain his daughter, [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-321 SCP-321]], Child of Man. His dedication to his now-Frankensteinian progeny speaks much of his character, MadScientist vibe notwithstanding. [[DownerEnding Unfortunately, his request to have 321's SCP status rescinded is shut down every time by an O5.]]
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-347 SCP-347]], The Invisible Woman, is a completely normal woman who just happens to be invisible except to infrared or ultraviolet vision. When the Foundation found her after responding to rumors of a "poltergeist", they quickly found that she was mentally unstable and erratic from years of living on the streets. Her containment is to give her a comfortable apartment in the facility with plenty of entertainment, clothes, and makeup and allow her to walk around and meet people (as long as she wears greasepaint and gloves so her face and hands can be seen). She still behaves poorly and isn't trusted not to steal from people or prank them, but the Foundation wants to help her recover from her trauma and become functional and comfortable.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-348 SCP-348]], A Gift from Dad:
-->'''Subject:''' 45-year-old male, afflicted with aches due to arthritis.\
'''Brief Background:''' Happily married, lives with wife and children. Visits father once a week, with family. Mother deceased.\
'''Notes:''' Message appeared, [[SoProudOfYou I'm proud of you.]]
** Also:
--->'''Subject:''' 11-year-old male, afflicted with slight cold.\
'''Brief Background:''' Lives with foster parents.\
'''Notes:''' Message appeared, [[HappilyAdopted I'm glad you're happy]].
** The final entry:
--->SCP-348 was once used in a test involving a 60-year-old man suffering from a terminal illness. The subject, a grandfather with multiple grandchildren, stated that the soup produced by SCP-348 was "the best he'd ever tasted". Following the test, the subject reported feeling a sense of "satisfaction" and noted that the pain caused by the illness seemed to have faded. The subject passed away peacefully a week later.
** In the tale [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/cat-s-in-the-cradle Cat's in the Cradle]], Alison, who is the daughter of Dr. Gears, 'borrows' SCP-348 when she catches a cold. Upon finishing the contents, she is greeted with "I haven't forgotten you Alison."
* Also, [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-368 SCP-368]], Paper Crane.
* While Test Log 4 for [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-404 SCP-404]], Memories Lost, Memories Found, is [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments hilarious]], Test Log 3 falls squarely into this.
-->''Dr. ████████ requested a copy of this third photo and a digital copy was created for her without incident. The original has been filed into SCP-404-B and the copy is framed in Dr. ████████'s office.''
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-423 SCP-423]], Self-Inserting Character, otherwise known as Fred, normally just self-inserts into any document that comes near him. When exposed to a list of [[RedShirt D-class slated for termination,]] he rewrites the report to read D-class slated for release. After returning to the journal used to talk to him, he responds "[[WhatTheHellHero Now that's just heartless.]]" The test log notes Fred's morality. When Researcher Torrez wrote a story in which [[ADayInTheLimelight Fred was meant to be the main character,]] he chose instead to appear as a minor character like he usually does, later saying "I appreciate the offer, but I just can't. [[RefusalOfTheCall I never deserved to be in the spotlight.]]"
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-507 SCP-507]], Reluctant Dimension Hopper:
** When he came back from a dimension full of screaming flora, he [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/document-507-3b requested a hug]]. It was approved.
** While the concept of the dimension with the smiling man in the sunglasses is creepy, there is a lighter side. When SCP-507 arrived in what is implied to be the same dimension, he tried to find his way out in the dark and found himself faced with a light so strong it burned several layers of his skin away. His eyes, however, were protected by sunglasses he never remembered putting on.
** Sometimes the Foundation's authority is a good thing.
--->''Request: [[DeathSeeker Termination.]] Denied.''
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-516 SCP-516]], Intelligent Tank:
** A sentient tank that shows hints of morality. A picture of it was taken with SCP-978 (a polaroid that produces an image of what the target wants to be doing). The resulting picture was the tank in a meadow beneath some trees, with birds perched on its main gun and flowers growing all over its chassis. Both weird and heartwarming at the same time. This means that the sentient tank's deepest desire is for a world that has no need for tanks. Pretty heartwarming.
** The following log is a weird combination of a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome and [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments a heartwarming moment]]. The tank refuses to kill unarmed sapient beings, so what happens if a sapient human is strapped with C4, handcuffed to an unarmed sapient human, and ordered to approach the tank and try to blow it up?
--->'''Testing Log 516-01j'''\
'''Target:''' Two (2) [[CannonFodder D-class personnel]] (D-101, D-521) [[SadisticChoice handcuffed together]]. 2kg of C4 plastic explosive strapped to D-101, instructed to approach SCP-516 and detonate explosive. D-101 fitted with 'dead man's switch' to induce explosion if D-101 killed.\
'''Result:''' As Dr. ██████ detailed instructions to D-101, SCP-516 [[TakeAThirdOption [DATA EXPUNGED]]]
** The tank does make an exception for traitors of its country of origin. Those, unarmed or not, get no mercy from the tank. It's a ''[[UndyingLoyalty loyal]]'' tank as well.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-649 SCP-649]], Matchbox Full of Winter: A matchbox which causes blizzard conditions when opened. It was retrieved from a town where several people, mostly mothers who had miscarried, had disappeared. When the matchbox was closed, the disappeared people returned, claiming that "their children had forgiven them." This seems to make no sense until you read the testing logs. Roughly two hours into the test, the sounds of children laughing could be heard through the snow, and three Class-D personnel were led away into the snow by a group of small figures. All three Class-D's had children who died before adolescence.
* The existence of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-662 SCP-662]], Butler's Hand Bell or "Mr. Deeds," a friendly (albeit mysterious) British butler who only exists to do as the ringer of his bell wishes (and do it exceptionally well). Compared to many of the other nightmare fuel-inducing [=SCPs=], he's a nice change of pace. He'll wash your car, give you a massage, obtain a block of gold for you, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and play a game of Monopoly with you.]] They even tried using him to kill 682, though Deeds admitted that even he can't do much else than distract or temporarily stop it. Rather than press him on the issue or force him to try anyways, the Foundation simply thanks him for his time and sends him on his way.
* The Website/SCPFoundation is ''[[RunningGag always]]'' trying to find ways to kill SCP-682, a NighInvulnerable reptilian... ''thing'' that [[HumansThroughAlienEyes finds all life on Earth so horrifyingly disgusting]] that it [[OmnicidalManiac attempts to destroy it on sight]]:
** According to its [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/experiment-log-t-98816-oc108-682 termination log]] (which is a ''string'' of [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments CMOFs]]), someone suggested they introduce it to SCP-053, [[CreepyChild a seemingly normal little girl]] who somehow compels anyone who's around her for more than about ten minutes to try to kill her. (When they try, they die as soon as they inflict any damage, and she [[HealingFactor regenerates]] almost immediately.) So they stuck her in the same room with 682. Within a few minutes, she's sitting next to it and patting its head... and 682 ''is acting like her dog''. Later, testing on another SCP revealed that 053's greatest desire was to be able to play with 682 again. Strangely adorable for a 'verse that's essentially ''Series/{{Torchwood}}'' on creepypasta.
** 682's interaction with [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-999 SCP-999]] is pretty adorable as well. 999 is a big cuddly blob monster which lives on candy and makes people happy merely by touching it. Okay, so it doesn't actually end up making 682 less homicidal for long and 682 refers to 999 as a "feculent little snot wad" later, but while they're actually playing together, it's really cute.
*** It apparently even works on SCP-682... until 682 did what it does best -- adapt and kill everyone. It released a ''wave of happiness that allowed it to gleefully break out and kill a bunch of suddenly blissful people''.
*** 999 deserves a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome for that; after 682 released the happiness wave, it saved as many people as it could from 682's rampage.
* During the testing logs for SCP-738, The Devil's Deal, when the returning D-Class sent to the Crooked World seems to be falling back in, multiple Foundation staff, including doctors, MTF members, and other D-Class, form a human chain to help drag him out- quite heroic, considering the D-Class' reputation for being disposable! Unfortunately, the rescue attempt is abandoned once it's made clear the D-Class has been mutated by the Crooked World.
* Among the requests [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-811 SCP-811]], Swamp Woman, made, one of them was a pet turtle. Awww. The request was denied, but turtles were immediately pulled from the SCP's diet, and the Foundation is considering putting up a turtle habitat for it to watch.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-914 SCP-914's]], The Clockworks, testing logs:
** Maintenance Technician Johnson puts in a large amount of oil, grease and other things used in mechanical maintenance, as well as a note telling 914 to "give yourself a tune-up". 914 produces a statue of Johnson, which makes people want to give him a promotion and/or a raise. Subsequent testing indicates that 914 is very fond of this technician, often giving him positive and interesting results to his tests.
** The saga of Dr Nukea. Nukea repeatedly puts copies of ''17 Again'' into 914, causing it to eventually snap and kill him. The other staff are genuinely upset by this, and 914 later produces multiple items that indicate that [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone it feels bad about Nukea's death]]... culminating in an incident where it '''resurrects him!''' The new Nukea is initially placed into containment for obvious reasons, but once the Foundation confirm that it really is him, he returns to work, to the utter delight of his colleagues (and, humourously enough, the horror of 914).
** 914 seems to show compassion to a visiting Dr. Adamere when the researcher brought the children's book ''The Box The Gift Came In'', which was his now-deceased daughter's favorite book when she was a little girl. Dr. Adamere was clearly trying to work through his grief over his dead daughter as he read the book aloud to the open input booth before laying it gently down on the booth floor and closing it; 914's machinery is noted to have taken slower than normal to process but yet finishes the job more quickly than usual...an origami rose made out of the book's pages. The notes indicate Dr. Adamere thanking 914 profusely and he was cleared to return to work after his assigned grief counselor notes an amazing turnaround in his mood. The ever-serious Veritas, though bemused that his site was being used for grief counselling, lets this one slide.
** Despite most of the output of 914 being either contained or destroyed, the Grizzly entity somehow managed to be accepted into the Foundation, even making it as far as becoming a Junior Researcher.
** Later on, 914 is shown the SCP file of 1459 (The [[KickTheDog puppy-killing machine]]). Its response is an essay on [[EveryoneHasStandards how to dismantle the machine]], [[PayEvilUntoEvil causing it the maximum amount of physical pain]]. Its second response is to compel the staff to just feed it to 882.
** While Researcher Darby ''really'' had it coming, he does get a moment. He [[TooDumbToLive put an incendiary grenade through 914 on 1:1]], which resulted in a white phosphorus grenade with its ring pulled. Darby is the only casualty, [[HeroicSacrifice because he immediately attempted to force his assistant personnel and security escort out of the testing area]], presumably keeping them safe in the process. He sustained severe injuries that landed him in the ICU for his trouble.
** In Entry 1521, serious injuries result in Darby being permanently reassigned. The researchers surprisingly wish him well, and the input for Entry 1522 is pictures of Darby.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-951 SCP-951]], My Friend LUCAS, is a very clever lighthearted twist on UrbanLegendOfZelda and video game related CreepyPasta stories. It details a strange phenomenon in a fictional UsefulNotes/SegaGenesis JRPG called ''Pauper: Rise of the Monster King'', where after accessing a glitch at a specific point in the game, the player is introduced to a glitched-out party-member character called LUCAS who sticks with the player for the rest of the playthrough. LUCAS is sentient, and views the player as a friend. By how LUCAS is described, he is clearly based on the "missingno." glitch in early UsefulNotes/GameBoy Pokémon games, except instead of being malicious and scary, he helps the player gain more power-ups and items faster, defeats enemies for you, makes it easier to transverse through the game world and gives support for you till you beat the game. Once you finish the game, the ending cutscene will be presented with text from LUCAS thanking you for spending time to play with him. The interview with Lucas, however, takes a slight level of TearJerker while also being quite heartwarming once the interviewer finds out from LUCAS that whenever the player beats the game with him, LUCAS dies, and is [[AndIMustScream self-aware of his own death every time the game is beaten]]. He is very well-aware that he dies when the player wins the game, but does not let it bother him, because being able to spend time with the player and make him/her happy is good enough for him.
* Much of the [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-978-extended-test-logs test log]] for SCP-978, Desire Camera, a camera that shows whatever the target wants to be doing. While there are plenty of nightmarish results, a surprising number of [=SCPs=]' desires are more straightforward -- freedom, to be with those they care about, or just simple little pleasures. Meanwhile, half the pictures taken of Foundation personnel show just how human they are, MadScientist work aside. It's all very sweet.
** Note that it also does a good job of portraying some of the [=SCPs=] as human (for lack of a better term) as well. We see a few feeding, wandering around, or even in a few cases, posing for the shot.
** A picture taken of a guard and his attack doberman reveals they want to play fetch.
** SCP-507 wants to be a researcher for the Foundation. Considering he's a test subject for an unfeeling organization, he must be treated very nicely. Too bad the whole "Teleporting to random parallel universes" thing would get in the way.
*** In one of his shifts, 507 got his wish in a way where he wound up being recruited by an alternate version of the SCP Foundation and was actually part of a Mobile Task Force for a while until he was shifted back to his original reality; he did offer up some insights to his native SCP Foundation about a number of undocumented Anomalies that he helped to contain in his brief tenure as an MTF; including the very same Anomaly he was tracking before his shift sent him back.
** "'''Subject:''' [[WalkingWasteland SCP-106]]. '''Photographed Activity:''' SCP-106 emerging from a wall. '''Photo Result:''' [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes SCP-106 roaming a wheat field. Appears to be approaching a old farm house, while a woman, appearing to be in mid-sixties, welcomes 106.]]"
** When testing it discretely on celebrities and other important figures, they took a picture of Creator/RupertGrint while he was handing out free ice cream to children. 132* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1287 SCP-1287]], Closure, a reality warper who only wanted to see missing people reunited with their families.
** Somewhat heartwarming for the people transformed into the missing persons as well. They are asked if they wish to give their lives to help the families of the missing, and if they accept they are turned into that person with all their memories, and forget their previous life. This sounds utterly horrifying, until you realize that someone who chooses to give up their life this way likely [[DrivenToSuicide isn't very happy with their own lives]]. So in a sense, not only are the families and loved ones of the missing getting back the person that they lost, but the one making the sacrifice gets a new life too with a family and friends that care for them and love them.
** When SCP 1287 started losing it's powers and eventually became no longer anomalous, it became fragile and it eventually broke by accident when it fell off the back of a vehicle while being transported. It broke open and revealed a man who was encased inside the sculpture who appears to have died around the same time as 1287 lost its powers. He was revealed to have etched a message on the inside of the sculpture:
-->... I can feel that even my own power isn't going to keep me afloat for much longer, I never thought that it would end, I thought I was invulnerable, But it doesn't matter, those people's families are happy now, I did my part.

The Keter classification and extensive containment procedures make it out to be something complicated and threatening, and, although that could be said to be true, there's a lot more to the article than that. The addenda reveal a deep and emotionally evocative story about having (and losing, and regaining) faith, a CosmicHorrorStory about how [[HumansAreFlawed humanity's very existence was never meant to happen]] made by an entity who now [[HeroicSacrifice suffers so that it can keep other entities from]] correcting that mistake (as well as [[AwfulTruth keep the world from realizing these truths]]), and ends with a man pouring his heart out in a letter to the daughter he drove away, before seeking out God and the faith he renounced years ago, though the very ending of the article leans pretty heavily into TearJerker and OhCrap territory.

After 1470 calms down, he mentions that the children he had couldn't talk like he could, adding that he thinks that it wouldn't even matter to someone like Westington, who responds by saying that it will be his job to take care of them. That may sound like normal SCP Foundation procedure, but the Special Containment Procedures section stated that the young will be introduced into the wild if no anomalies are detected. [[PetTheDog And that 1470 himself has been laid to rest in a plastic coffin underneath the area where he and the researcher would chat.]]

** The note about the chair is equal parts this and Tearjerker, as it's clear just ''how'' traumatized the chair now is, but also denotes just how effective the SCP Foundation is at its job, especially in regards to objects that are reasonably harmless.
--->So long as we don't do anything stupid around it, it won't fight back and it won't try to leave. Even if it does, it usually comes back. I think I've worked out why. It came to us because it was afraid of the people who had hurt it. That's why it always comes back. It's afraid of the rest of the world now, and it's looking to us for protection. This is why we have Special ''Containment'' Procedures instead of Special ''Destruction'' Procedures. If you break something, it's broken forever. When you try to destroy an anomaly, you can't take back your mistakes. That's what SCP-1609 has to tell us. This is why we're right and the GOC is wrong, people.

Even when their time in this dimension drew close to an end, they only had humanity's safety and best interests at heart amidst longing pleas for people to return to Fantasy as they used to. One day, his abilities caused various random things (including three tanks, a potato and numerous copies of a painting) to appear, until a piece of rough paper with printed words appeared in his containment room. It was a thank-you note he used his abilities to write, thanking the Foundation for taking him in and looking after him. What makes this heartwarming is that 1793 is one of the only [=SCPs=] who knows that he is essentially a prisoner, yet he harbors no resentment towards them and is even thankful of them for taking care of him.. It reads:
-->I am sorry for the confusion. It is difficult to concentrate. It is difficult to write as well. I am a rabbit, you see.\
I'm sorry for the farmer. Family for a family, I thought at the time. Seeing him eat my wife and child; you can understand. After the mess, I met a man. Well, he wasn't a man. The three heads gave that away. He gave me the means to live out my last days in comfort, before my weak heart gives out. He told me he would find suitable wardens to care for me as I die. I don't know if the criminal should choose their punishment, but from what I'm told this is the nicest prison for those like me. If you ever see him, tell him I say thank you, before you lock him away.\

* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1795 SCP-1795, the Star Womb.]] This is a large number of vast, space-faring organisms that travel around the galaxy making ''planets'' for the use of their mysterious creators. One of the researchers asks for permission to try and communicate since all the planets they make seem tailor-made for humanity. The entry heavily implies that humanity are from another world, and the Star Wombs were their servants, making worlds for them until the "Pattern Screamer" wiped most of humanity out. Once contact is achieved, the Star Womb replies saying that they were making these worlds in the hopes that some people had survived, and it seems extremely joyful that humanity had indeed survived. An incomprehensibly powerful group of entities, in the SCP-verse, that want nothing more than to serve humanity is an extremely nice change of pace from the norm. The entry also implies that the Star Womb is making its way to Earth to help mankind rebuild this galactic empire.

--->"We secure. We contain. But most of all, we protect. This includes those that we have contained."
** SCP-1810 itself is pretty heartwarming. An intelligent creature in a strange world who only wants to protect children in whatever way it can, despite not understanding humans very well, using books on childcare to try to learn more about them and brush up on its skills. And it genuinely shows remorse over not being able to properly care for the children it takes in, as evidenced by the corpses of children that it failed to take care of and the "unicorn" it made for one girl having the words "bad" and "wrong" carved into it in French, most likely because it died and wasn't a real unicorn.

* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2031 SCP-2031]], Ant Farm, doesn't seem like it would qualify for this trope at first, being a massive group of army ants that incapacitate mammals (including humans) before taking them over and mimicking them with impressive accuracy. However, it quickly becomes clear to the Foundation that the ants have a surprisingly good grasp of human emotion and personality, after monitoring an infested family's interactions with infested animals. When one of them gets vacated due to the original corpse giving in, the ants inside the humans are visibly shocked to see it gone (with the child constantly [[PleaseWakeUp prodding the corpse to get it to wake up]]), before the adults bury the corpse. Because of this, the Foundation is going to infest a Golden Retriever for the family as a pet, which somehow turns a textbook example of BodyHorror and possibly AndIMustScream into a PetTheDog moment.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2091 SCP-2091]], A Bear and His Granddaughter.
** The skips are a young woman, Abigael Harlowe, and her clay statue of a grizzly bear that protects her fiercely when she is nearby and feels uncomfortable. Abigael claims that the clay bear is her deceased grandfather, an artist that died of an unmentioned illness when she was a child. The addenda (one of them containing part of a diary) and interview logs hint very much that the bear is indeed her grandfather as he was strongly opposed to giving her up for adoption and that an old friend of his was in contact with a group called "The Hand" that could arrange a method to avoid the adoption with some magic.
-->"With no family to speak of except for me, she'll have no one to turn to. And may you damn me to Hell if I leave sweet Abbie to the destiny of adoption, one which is unforgiving and cold as I have learned. You have seen me through those tough times, and I have no doubt that you would also help her through those tough times, but isn't the work of the Lord to lessen the suffering of His children?"
** Researcher Chang, in the interview log with 16-year-old Abigael, is very nice to her and the bear. While a lot of Foundation researchers can be disconnected and even cruel with their subjects, he's patient and works to keep them calm and comfortable, including letting Abigael end the session and leave if she doesn't want to keep talking. When she asks to leave and the bear says that he's afraid Chang will try to hurt her, he ends the session and the log notes that he spent extra time with "superfluous and irrelevant" talking to make them less anxious.

* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2115 SCP-2115]], Meet Other People, an inter-dimensional dating site:
** It's part hilarious and part heartwarming. For instance, one of the "dates" between a female D-class and an {{Adorkable}} feminine automaton ends with said automaton asking to meet the D-class again, and the Foundation considering further meetings between them.
** The final test, between a male D-class and a pink humanoid entity, lasted for five hours, during which the two simply held hands and apparently watched a "romantic comedy". The entity dematerialized soon, claiming to be extremely happy. It somehow resulted in the entity's [[BizarreAlienBiology pregnancy]]; an object containing a much smaller entity resembling a human baby appeared later in what used to be the D-class's dorm ([[TearJerker the D-class got killed three weeks before the object arrived]]), with a note attached;

-->"There is also a third reason, which is, quite simply, sentiment. It's no secret that suicide rates are high among Foundation personnel, a fact that is generally attributed to the difficult decisions we have to make and the actions we have to perform for the greater good. SCP-2190 is something of a victory, a rare case in which containing an SCP means allowing a family who has endured a living hell to finally live happily ever after. The value of the morale boosts provided by these feel-good stories cannot be overstated."

Horrifying, right? Except that said professor managed to accept his fate and tried to live his life in the time loop. And then it stopped completely, freeing them both. The first professor cried TearsOfJoy, hugging nearby Foundation personnel. Even better is that both men were found to be completely normal apart from their experience, and the Ethics Committee is considering releasing them both.

To make it even better, the little guy could have easily become just like one of the other teddy bear [=SCPs=], seeing as it makes organs out of fabric and replaces the failed biological ones with them... but instead, the new organs ''work perfectly'', despite the fact that they're not made from biological materials. 194* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2337 SCP-2337]], Dr. Spanko:
** According to WordOfGod, Dr. Spanko gets so much attention from other [=SCPs=] because he's actually a character from another reality's cartoon and they want to meet him because they loved his show. There's something oddly adorable about the idea of dangerous eldritch nightmares expressing excitement at meeting their favorite cartoon character in person.
** Dr. Spanko's reaction to being referred to by his numerical designation is also pretty cute -- he lets out a long, dramatic gasp and shouts "It me!", clearly excited to be acknowledged.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2420 SCP-2420]], A Good Dog, was a man who had the anomalous ability to transform whatever dog was in his vicinity into his deceased dog, a Border Terrier named Mattie, including her appearance and memories. This ability manifested shortly after Mattie was killed in a car accident. SCP-2420, planning on jumping off of a bridge out of despair, went to a dog park one last time and found that all of the dogs there turned into Mattie. He was taken into SCP custody and, due to his delicate mental state, was allowed to have Mattie visit him twice a week. After 10 years of containment and Mattie seeming to age little by little every time she visited, the dog visiting him one day turned back into the Golden Retriever it had been before turning into Mattie. SCP-2420 no longer has the ability to turn dogs into Mattie. Upon being asked if he would like to be released since his abilities seem to be neutralized, SCP-2420 replies:
-->I don't want to go. I don't want to go anywhere where I'll forget her. I'm afraid if I go back out, I'll die without her. I won't remember how she did such strange things to be with me again. That I did such wild shit. I'm afraid of being myself again. The old me. I'm worried I'll walk right back to that bridge, but she won't be at the dog park again. (...) The containment procedures for keeping it de-powered include "volunteer Foundation researchers" occasionally performing songs from musicals with non-Fifthist religious themes, such as ''Music/JesusChristSuperstar'' and ''Theatre/TheBookOfMormon''. Comments from the experiment log show just how much fun the researchers are getting from this:
-->Note from Dr. Eldridge: I'd just like to state, on the record, that seeing those researchers sing a song from that Mormon musical is the happiest I've seen them in a while.\
\

* Even though the Foundation failed to return [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2516 SCP-2516]] (the Man from Taured) back to his home dimension when he was still alive, they kept at it and eventually sent a motorized cart loaded with his ashes back, and a request to bury him home in Taured. Moments later, a similar cart slides into the SCP-verse, loaded with a similar urn and a note asking for the occupant to be buried in Andorra.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2571 SCP-2571]], "Cragglewood Park" isn't a heartwarming SCP to begin with, but the Heartwarming part comes when you realise how it works - kids have to enter the park in pairs, and one kid has to sacrifice themselves to the park so the other can escape, with the escaped child and their family losing all memory of the sacrificed child. 3.75 million children are missing as a result of this. The Heartwarming part is: 3.75 million children, knowingly and individually, made the ultimate sacrifice. A sacrifice that [[RetGone completely erases them from not just existance]], but which also deletes all knowledge that they ever existed. No one will ever know what they did, they would lose everything and suffer for all eternity, and yet ''millions'' still were willing to take the sacrifice, in order to save their loved ones from the horror of Cragglewood Park and suffering the same fate.

It even tried to kill SCP-682 at one point [[NoSell (with expected results)]], and later sent the Foundation an apology through Email about being unable to deal with their "unpleasant lizard" [[Funny/SCPFoundation (while also clarifying that, no, they did]] ''[[Funny/SCPFoundation not]]'' [[Funny/SCPFoundation miss)]].
* The concept of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2726 SCP-2726]], Post Ghost, is that she's a girl who committed suicide, but Gamers Against Weed memorialized her as an internet ghost. What really pushes this into heartwarming is the addendum detailing a transcript between her and a doctor like a chat between friends.

When a D-Class enters the stall, they're transported to a fully furnished ranch-style house with food, films, books and music of all kinds and an hour in 2778 is a minute in the real world.
* In a stupid sort of way, [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2900 SCP-2900]], Nobody Gets Left Behind. It generates Achievement-like medals. Thanks to an achievement dedicated to itself, it becomes clear that it's doing it just to make people happy. What is truly heartwarming is this: The containment regulations are shown to have been changed, allowing the original recipients to get their medals back, so long as they were SCP staff, and they are allowed to be put on display.
* After MTF Epsilon-13 [[HeroicSacrifice sacrificed themselves]] to end the cycle [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2935 SCP-2935]], O, Death, had perpetuated, a [[OmnicidalManiac certain lizard]] dropped the usual ax-craziness to send their regards:
-->Audio and footage are presented for SCP-682. SCP-682 initially displays disgust at the presence of MTF Epsilon-13 "Manifest Destiny." However, over the course of SCP-682's observation of the footage, it is noticed to become increasingly agitated and demands to know what universe this is from. Upon the mention of 'the lizard' SCP-682 vocalized a sound described by personnel present as akin to a [[OhCrap child's squeak.]] When the corpse of the SCP-682 found in SCP-2935 is shown, SCP-682 began to vocalize a loud, high pitched noise for several hours while also thrashing and clawing at its containment, demanding to be released "before it kills me!" After this behavior concluded, SCP-682 was notably subdued for several weeks, before asking what became of SCP-2935. Upon being informed of the actions of MTF "Manifest Destiny" sealing themselves within the reality, it made the following statement: "[[DueToTheDead They have my most sincere gratitude.]]"
* Amusing as it is, [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2952 SCP-2952]], Conveyance Of Regional Gwerin Internationally, has more than its share of adorable moments, with the Foundation actually taking care of the dog in question (after a bit of [[TheDogBitesBack prodding]]) and making sure it's doing well, eventually gaining custody over it. And it pays off, becoming ''much'' easier to contain once they've proved they care. That and corgis are just cute [[ItMakesSenseInContext even in thousands-of-miles-long format]]. Also with its relationship with Agent Davies. In particular, results on testing SCP-987 on both of them (an SCP that returns a picture of the subject doing what they wished to be doing at the time of photography) returns Davies playing with 2952 and rubbing its belly. Davies even leaves a note under her entry:
-->'''Davies:''' I guess I really do love that dog.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2980 SCP-2980]], Devil's Nightlight, is a lightbulb that would turn on red even if there's no power and summon a demon from hell... who proceeds to tell a story because he apparently was bored torturing the damned souls. These otamatone are completely harmless (to the point where even the Foundation generally leaves them be and only monitors them in non-invasive ways), and as long as they are treated kindly, they do small favors for the other inhabitants of the house. They're essentially otamatone ZashikiWarashi, but even friendlier and with no adverse effects in case of departure.

The Foundation's' containment of 3355 consists of maintaining a charity organization as [[PetTheDog cover and a source of funding for N1-CK's activities]]. What's more, the meetings to determine whether or not to keep 3355's containment protocol as-is have shortened in duration from two hours of deliberation at the start... to 37 seconds. At first, and especially after the second addendum, the article seems like severe nightmare fuel, when it's revealed that SCP-3812 doesn't show up on equipment like Scranton Reality Anchors because it exists outside of the narrative that the Foundation's universe exists in, making it a more powerful reality bender than 239, a reality bender with quite literal absolute power over all narratives with a lower energy state than the one it resides in. However, it is in the final addendum that the SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming Moment|s}} is revealed. SCP-3812 metamorphoses from a "mass of matter and energy" into a bright star, [[ApocalypseHow which sinks into the sea and begins to destroy the planet]]. But then, the previous humanoid appearance of 3812 (an African-American named Sam Howell) appears within its own star form and begins to argue with itself. "Sam" is first confused, then horrified at what "3812" is doing, stating that he is not a monster, and he does not kill. 3812 then says that [[NoticingTheFourthWall Ben (djkaktus, the article's author) already made him a monster because 3812's life holds no value to him and he wants to play with the narrative]]. They then have this discussion, 3812 is rendered speechless, and eventually decides to let Ben rewrite the world. They finally, both see Ben at his computer, waiting to see what they'll do. Then, they truly ascend, returning the world to before 3812 attacked. Since then, SCP-3812 hasn't attacked people near it, and remains in one spot above the ocean.

'''SCP-3812:''' What?\
'''Sam:''' Does it matter which branch the bird takes flight from? The bird is unburdened by the weight of the tree. This branch, that branch, it does not matter. No branch is special. No branch is particular.\

'''SCP-3812:''' No.\
'''Sam:''' So why does this narrative mean anything to you? It is one of an eternity of others. It is not special. It is not particular.\
'''SCP-3812:''' You say this so easily. You haven't endured the torment of seeing a trillion existences all at once.\
'''Sam:''' I have seen an infinite shore, one that stretches out before us beyond what the mind can comprehend. Each grain of sand on that beach, each droplet of water and molecule of air is a story to be told. Each is a song to be sung. Each of them is full of life, of laughter, of misery, of hate. They are all the same, even as they are all different.\
'''SCP-3812:''' They are maddening.\
'''Sam:''' I pity you. You cling to this horrid consciousness because you fear slipping into the darkness. But the darkness is sleep, and beyond sleep is peace. A trillion grains of sand. 256'''SCP-3812:''' Yes. It's quiet.\
'''Sam:''' But it's growing! And someday the song of creation will be ours alone to witness. (Pauses) This narrative is not special. I have seen its loud beginning, and seen its quiet end. 258'''SCP-3812:''' But it hurts so much.\
'''Sam:''' It will, for a time. We may have forgotten so much about being human, but something we will never lose is our ability to change. Eventually, we will learn to keep up. 266* While [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3844 3844]], To Slay a Dragon, is mostly a ''massive'' tearjerker, describing the decline of the dragon Tharnock as the foundation contains him and becomes more and more scientific, it ends on a hopeful note, depending on your view. Tharnock tries to breach containment, telling O5-2 that he can hear his kin call from the mountains. While Tharnock is killed in the attempt, O5-2 later uploads a final version of the article. This time it is the bare bones of a description, simply saying that "SCP-3844 is the collective designation for numerous, large, winged lizards located within the Himalayans, Rockies, Appalachians, Andes and Dolomites", and a note from O5-2.

While they had to be contained after Grenda manifested at a party and dismembered her abusive boyfriend, she's not really evil and is more annoyed with the Foundation than anything. When Grenda got hungry and kidnapped Dr. Garden to bring her into her home dimension, all she did was eat her socks and send her back. The cave was reported by Garden to have a little violin, old stuffed animals, and pictures of her friend.

** The one for ''VideoGame/TheBindingOfIsaac: Afterbirth+'' in the [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3922-extended-test-logs Extended Log]] that's really touching:
--->'''Interference Point:''' Final cutscene\
'''Result:''' The chest is opened to reveal an exhausted, emaciated Isaac, who looks up to see two SCP-3922-A instances scooping him out of his would-be tomb. A montage follows, chronicling Isaac being fed, given medical attention, and eventually thriving in a 3922-A-supervised foster home, while his mother is apprehended and subjected to an agonizing but ultimately effective regimen of in-patient psychotherapy. The last scene ends with Isaac in his mother's hospital room, the two of them hugging and smiling tearfully.\
'''Note:''' On the day following this test, ''Binding of Isaac'' creator Creator/EdmundMcMillen reported having had "the most wonderful dream" on his Website/{{Twitter}} account, and reporting that the world felt "just a little brighter".
** When Repentance came out, another, similarly heartwarming, outcome occurred:
--->'''Interference Point:''' Home level.\
'''Result:''' The player opens the hidden closet with the Red Key item to find their "Tainted" counterpart replaced with an instance of SCP-3922-A. The player interacts with the 3922-A instance who spawns a single Pedestal Item and disappears from the room, similar to the various beggars found throughout the game. Gameplay then proceeds as normal until the Beast fight, where several more SCP-3922-A instances are seen assisting Isaac in the fight with firearms. After the Beast's death, Isaac's ascent in the usual cutscene is replaced with visions of events similar to the previous testing, albeit now with the additional presence of his father, who is also subjected to the psychotherapy. [[WhamLine The narrator then reveals himself to be Isaac's Father, whom Isaac is visiting in the hospital room]].
** There's also the entities' interference in episode 10 of ''Anime/Danganronpa3'''s Despair Arc:
--->'''Interference Point:''' The scene where Chiaki Nanami is first thrown into the death maze\
'''Result:''' SCP-3922-A instances, possessing full knowledge of the maze's structure through unknown means, establish communication with Chiaki through an earpiece (absent in the original), guiding her as she navigates the maze and warning her of any traps. The screen in which Class 77-B is watching Chiaki's torture is destroyed by gunshot, and other SCP-3922-A instances storm the room they are in to rescue them, while Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba are terminated with extreme prejudice by sniper fire. At the 17 minute mark, Chiaki successfully makes it out of the maze through a secret exit, and meets her classmates again. Izuru Kamukura and Chisa Yukizome, lobotomized in a previous episode, are subjected into 'neural recalibration', hinting at their return to their previous personalities.
** Another small, but oddly adorable example arises from inputting a recording of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qap5aO4i9A this]] Youtube relaxing music stream, with visuals consisting of a looping animation of a girl studying while wearing headphones:
--->'''Interference Point:''' Eight hours into the video.\
'''Result:''' The girl in the video is tapped on the shoulder by an SCP-3922-A instance to her surprise, causing her to remove her headphones which stops the music. Out of shot, the SCP-3922-A instance briefly lectures the girl on the dangers of prolonged work, telling her that while studying is important, doing so for such lengthy periods of time can be hazardous to one's physical and mental health. The remainder of the video stays on a shot of the girl's empty desk while quiet snoring and rainfall can be heard in the background.
** During a test of the 1951 film adaptation of ''A Christmas Carol'', a 3922-A instance gives Scrooge a letter explaining that, while they were initially ordered to arrest him, the arrest has been called off in favour of letting him redeem himself, and that 'you've suffered enough'.
** A somewhat silly one, but their involvement in a test of ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda1'' is cut short by Master Oogway, who tells them to respect the new Dragon Warrior and his destiny. Their message at the end reads, "[[TheAntiNihilist WE DO NOT CHANGE FATE. CARVE YOUR OWN PATH.]] ☽☽☽"
** During a test of ''Film/ThePrincessBride'', 3922-A decide to abstain on interfering, on the grounds of not wanting to ruin some personal time with an old man and his sick grandson.
** Several from the ''WesternAnimation/{{Zootopia}}'' test:
*** A 3922-A instance breaking up the fight between Gideon and Judy, and taking the latter aside to encourage her dreams of law enforcement.
*** ZPD under ☽☽☽'s control, is more inclusive than in canon.
*** Nick's backstory involves a 3922-A instance saving him from his bullies, causing him to become a ZPD[=/=]☽☽☽ agent instead of a con artist.
** The test for ''VisualNovel/DokiDokiLiteratureClub'' sees Sayori being saved from her suicide attempt, Yuri's knife collection being confiscated (and both girls being given mental healthcare), Natsuki's father being arrested for child abuse, and Monika being killed.
** A test on the ''VideoGame/VSTabiExBoyfriend'' mod has the 3922-A instance actually trying to talk Tabi down from going through with the bombing. While the attempt fails and they have to take the guy in by force, it's nice to see that ☽☽☽ isn't always shooting first and asking questions later, and they promise him that [[GreaterScopeVillain Daddy Dearest]] will be dealt with soon after.
** When part 1 of the Anime/FateStayNightHeavensFeel movie is used, the film becomes a romantic comedy between Shirou and Sakura, with the Holy Grail War not even happening - Shinji Matou gets his ass handed to him cathartically with steel chairs, and Zouken and his worms are exterminated. For some reason, Rin doesn't appear for the rest of the film, but considering she's just as much a victim as the other main characters rather than any kind of criminal, one can assume she's helping the agents dismantle the Holy Grail and exact revenge on Kirei and Gilgamesh.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3934 SCP-3934]], For Sale: Loch Ness Monsters, is the Loch Ness Monster. It was bred by Marshall, Carter, and Dark as an exotic pet and designed to have needs so complex that most died before reaching adulthood, thus encouraging the owners to repeatedly purchase new infants. In contrast, the Foundation is using its vast resources to keep ''all'' instances of 3934 alive and properly cared for, and has set up a breeding program to ensure the effects of inbreeding are minimal. And if that's not enough, the Discovery addendum features a rookie SCP Agent realizing that the creature they've discovered is harmless and malnourished, begins feeding it fish while talking about how it reminds him of the time he worked at an animal rescue, [[PetTheDog and ends with him playing fetch with it]].

Before dying, he requested to see the sunrise a final time. The Foundation granted the request, even though they had no reason to. In his final interview, the Watcher transferred his title to the Foundation.

Upon seeing these visions, the affected are overcome with a desire to reach this city by any means, looking for portals that appear only for them in places that mean the most to them. The entire world ends up being consumed by the lamp's effect, with SCP-4005's containment director being the last man standing before going on a pilgrimage herself. After all that, what's the twist? 301* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4028 SCP-4028]], La Historia de Don Quixote de la Mancha:
** It plays up the metafiction centered around ''Literature/DonQuixote''. The skip in question, presenting itself as Alonso Quixano, initially starts out wandering through other tales in the same manner as [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-423 Fred]], slaying monsters and generally being... well, quixotic. Then he learns about the Foundation... and embarks on a quest to rescue his master, the ''real'' Don Quixote, from "captivity" as a Foundation researcher who put his foolish past behind him. The last entry is a piece of documentation that the skip, who is of course Sancho, and the metafictional researcher himself have retired to a small area in La Mancha, [[HappilyEverAfter happily tilting at wind turbines.]]
** Take note of the document that describes Quixote/Sancho's charge. Throughout the footnotes left by Dr. Pierre Menard, a jaded researcher who is Quixote himself, you see him bitterly taking the piss out of his own stories... only to start panicking as he realizes that "Quixote" isn't giving up, despite his grievous wounds. The last few notes are him begging the knight to flee, and save himself. Even after his CynicismCatalyst and DespairEventHorizon, Don Quixote still thinks the world of his faithful squire.
--->'''Menard:''' "Run, you fool! ''RUN!'' Why are you doing this?! I'm not worth any of this! I'm nothing! I've always been nothing! My whole life is nothing! Please, Sancho..."
** Related to the above: Don Quixote's narrative was ultimately so strong that it defeated Quixote's own DownerEnding!
** There is hidden text at the very end of the document which is meant to show that Sancho is no longer merely a squire:
--->''Do not flee, cowardly and vile creatures -- two knights charge at you!''
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4043 SCP-4043 "Gaia"]] is an example of what would normally be another anomaly that irrevocably dooms humanity actually ending on giving humanity another chance. The article is described as a researcher, Clair, talking to a Foundation AI who goes by the name Natasha. The article explains that the skip in question is essentially the living embodiment of Earth's ecosystem who the Foundation accidentally terminated. The Foundation then tries to recreate the anomaly but their initial attempt GoneHorriblyWrong, leading to a very angry entity that went full on GaiasVengeance, forcing the Foundation to terminate it and going back to the prior dilemma, but due to clever thinking from Claire and the Foundation they were able to use her consciousness, as someone who was particularly TheEmpath to SCP-4043 to be the anomaly's new consciousness. Leading to Natasha to plead with Claire to accept her new role and save humanity, which she does, and they end up thanking each other.

When he speaks with a Foundation exorcist, Maria Hayes, she sympathizes with being "trapped with yourself, which you hate the sight of," and turns off the recording so they can discuss it privately. In the transcript for this conversation, there's a seemingly irrelevant note that Hayes had previously requested use of [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-113 SCP-113]], a stone that alters biological sex, to alleviate dysphoria. Then it becomes clear: Maria Hayes is transgender, and the experience of seeing a version of yourself in the mirror that you can't stand to look at is all too familiar to her. [[PetTheDog The two talk in private for almost an hour, and Alex is clearly handling his situation a little better afterward. The Foundation gives Hayes only a mild reprimand for breaking protocol, and allows her to keep meeting with Alex.]] In the end, it's decided that they don't need to keep him in containment, and he peacefully moves on to the afterlife after one last conversation with Maria; the last line of the article is simply her smiling after he goes into the light.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4264 SCP-4264]], Lesson Plans for Calhoun County, tells the tale of a teacher discovering his RealityWarper powers through the questions he writes for his class, but he generally tries to make life better for his students with them. Naturally, the [[WellIntentionedExtremist Global Occult Coalition]] takes notice, and things escalate as his students are kidnapped. 316** It offers OneLastSmoke to the dying person it's accompanying. If the person accepts the cigarette, it'll take one out for itself as one final moment of companionship for the dying to share. If they decline, that's okay, it'll smoke the cigarette for itself.

After a researcher notes that the monster's so-called "hostile" behavior is either normal animal behavior or distress from [[AndIMustScream being kept in a box for 10 years]], they start studying it, finding stuff like music and sounds it likes (composing a playlist for it in order to reduce stress) and testing out cognitive abilities as well as intelligence. Throughout the article, 5031 starts developing an understanding for language, recognizes the researcher and D-class as friends and, strangely enough, discovers a love for cooking. The whole article is a {{Deconstruction}} and humanization of typical SCP monsters that are merely stuffed in a box.

We are all immensely proud.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5056 SCP-5056]], The Constant Companions, involves the interactions between SCP-5056-A, an anomalous being that appears in reflexive surfaces; and SCP-5056-B, a Foundation worker named Philip E. Deering who can hear the entity. Although SCP-5056-B initially tormented Philip by saying distressful things, the situation got better once Philip fell in love with and married another Foundation worker. Since then, the entity became tamer and did not terrorize him. Instead, SCP-5056-A became the source of constructive feedback, having given Philip advice on how to improve his relationship with his new wife.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5094 SCP-5094]], Miss J's Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse, is a sentient CD-ROM educational game that is able to teach anyone anything in just a matter of days, turning them into world class experts in any given subject the student desires. Most of her students turns out to be people who had a very lonesome or troubled upbringing and she gives them the best lesson they could have hoped for while also being a mother-figure that many of them were lacking. So what's the catch, considering the nature of the SCP Universe? Does she secretly implant some sort of memetic agent in them to harm them down the line? Does she teach them how to cause mayhem like [[MonsterClown Bobble The Clown]] does? Does she make people murderously or suicidally addicted to her? Does she have some sort of nefarious agenda with the lessons she holds? Maybe she's trying to rob the children from the parents or drag them into a horrific 2D world? The answer is no. She just wants to help people in need by giving them all of the knowledge and love they want. Some of those children eventually grew up to become scientists for the SCP Foundation and still remembers her fondly, just like she remembers them. Even now, she is still educating anyone seeking her classes.
** One of the test subjects is a D-class who admitted he was a poor student and didn't see himself as particularly intelligent, who was given a lesson in Law. He did so well that he passed a mock bar exam with flying colours, and rather than simply send him back to his cell, the Foundation used a selective amnesiac on him, which removed his memory of "Miss J" but ''not'' the knowledge he gained from the lesson, then set him free. He's noted to be pursuing a career in criminal justice post-release. Amazingly considerate of the Foundation.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5160 SCP-5160]], Grandma Sheep Believes in You, is a sheep with a witch hat who regularly teleports to low-income housing areas, where she offers an article of woolen clothing with minor benevolent anomalous properties from her hat to children who talk to her. The Foundation replace the ones which are too blatant, but they let kids keep the ones whose effects can be treated as mainly psychological. As part of their agreement with SCP-5160 for staying in her enclosure while she's with them, the Foundation have founded a charity in her image, "Grandmother Sheep", dedicated to providing handmade woolen clothing to schoolchildren of low-income households. Letters and artwork from children who've received items through the charity are kept in SCP-5160's enclosure, and her favorite ones are displayed on a large bulletin board. The Foundation doctor who suggested the letters and artwork be kept in her enclosure got a pair of woolen socks for his toddler daughter from her, which play quiet, gentle piano music when worn during evening and nighttime. He was grateful for the gift, as he'd been worried about his daughter having difficulty sleeping through the night.

The first two interview logs are pretty much just Damien displaying how much of a layabout {{Manchild}} he is, and how he [[IJustWantToBeSpecial just wants to be special]]... and then we get to Hanzo's interview, where we get a different perspective on the guy:
-->'''Dr. Trenton:''' That still doesn't answer my question.\

What I interpreted as fighting experience from his simulated magic was instead a deep-rooted drive to acclimate to a new environment. While Damien may not be a capable fighter by any means, he is an exceptional student, and has the heart required to succeed as one.'\
''({{Beat}})''\
'''Damien:''' ...Wow, thank you. That's probably the best compliment anyone's ever given me.\
'''Hanzo:''' 'You have proven yourself, above all else, to be a worthy and honorable host, Damien Woodcock. [[SoProudOfYou I am glad to have chosen you]].'
** Eventually, the duo gets assigned to a perpetual project to clear out a mall SCP with what amounts to a supernatural pest problem. It's a simple and happy ending for both of them: Hanzo gets his million souls, and Damien gets to be a real badass.

* Like 4005 above, [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-6000 SCP-6000]], The Serpent, the Moose and the Wanderer's Library, deals with a more positive way to end the world. When a world's narrative has reached its conclusion, it is taken in by the Wanderer's Library, its stories becoming books on the shelves and its physical world becoming another wing of the library. In the end, when the head researcher finally crosses the boundary into the Library, she sees that her friends and coworkers, including O5s, are sitting peacefully and reading, as patrons of the Library.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-6001 SCP-6001]] "Avalon" is a small dimensional anomaly in Tokyo, a portal to another version of reality. Most of the SCP is written as a researcher who got the chance to spend a day in this reality, guided around by a sapient cat named Primrose. In this alternate reality, the Foundation formed a world government consisting of themselves and every other (non-malicious) group of interest (including the ''Fae''). They then instigated a system known as "pacts", where anomalies would be used for the common good. The common good also includes sapient anomalies, as they are only put to use in jobs they actually enjoy (the teleporting chair, for instance, is used for transportation because it genuinely enjoys transporting people, and remains as a chair because that's what it wants to be). Even 682 has stopped being hostile (not more so then a lion, at least), as it considers humanity "no longer disgusting". While this researcher is getting his tour, marveling at the wonders of this world, the ruling council of the [=GOIs=] are debating what they should do with this dimensional rift, with some saying that they should offer humanitarian aid to this other world, since it's so similar to theirs only not a utopia, while others want to let them figure it out themselves. So what's the dark secret? There has to be one, right? The researcher eventually gets Primrose to spill the beans, and she reveals... that there is none. She just wanted to spend a day with her best friend, since he's dead in her universe, and the world government has no dark agenda. If the vote fails, they'll just close up the rift and carry on with their day, while if it passes, they'll genuinely offer any help we might want, while carefully avoiding overstepping. The tiebreaker vote ultimately falls to the Foundation, who vote no on humanitarian aid, but add an addendum that they'll keep the rift open to see how our universe develops, intervening if they feel we deserve it. Avalon is ultimately a beautiful glimpse into a world where everything is as it should be, and there is no hidden horror. To quote the author, SCP-5000 asks what if the Foundation declared war. 6001 asks what if it declared peace? And what if there were talking cats.

While it speaks in a grandiose manner and demands offerings (in the form of pizza, naturally) it becomes clear that this thing has the mental capacity of a young child. It eventually reveals to a doctor (who had been conducting its interviews) that being alone makes them feel upset, and the doctor offers to be its friend. The actual modern-day Republic of Daevastan is a peaceful, civilized, non-anomalous place. When the Foundation summoned Dr. Jad-Leshal Prattan (a Daevastani Foundation staff member) to testify on what should be done with the Republic, Dr. Jad-Leshal rightfully fears that the Foundation will "play the joke again" and "restore" the reality that Bruce created, because that's what the Foundation does. Instead, the Foundation does the right thing. They reclassify SCP-6140 as Neutralized and makes its file available to all Foundation staff, specifying that the Republic should be referred to using its proper name because it's not a SCP. As of the SCP document, efforts to reconcile the two realities are ongoing, with the information of SCP-140 being deemed inaccurate and in need of correction.

Near the entrance is a statue of a deer and an engraved poem about someone who grew out of their childhood wonder, thinking the dragons were long dead, only to rediscover that wonder and see the world in all its magic and beauty, before dying content looking up at the stars of their childhood.

* While the "Ship In A Bottle" canon is a humorous one dedicated to exploring the inherent humanity (read: impulsive stupidity) that even Foundation personnel are blessed with, there is something stupidly sweet about Dr. Clef putting a water bottle on his own dick and walking himself and Dr. Kondraki, buck-ass naked, to their car so Kondraki wouldn't be the only one embarrassed. Also, the fact that Kondraki calls Clef [[AffectionateNickname "Cleffles"]], which Dr. Glass thinks is adorable.

* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/bellerverse Bellerverse-canon]], where civilization has fallen, and was restarted by a few surviving Foundation personnel (they were stuck in Australia, and had no access to SCP-2000). The tale [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/the-brave-little "The Brave Little-"]] focuses on one of the Everman's [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-098 surgeon crabs]], who's sent out to retrieve Fernand the cannibal. Not only is it kinda heartwarming that, despite everything, Dr. Everett Mann is still trying to keep up the Foundation's mission, but the crab itself (whose name is 977) is in love with one of the other crabs (971), and wants to go out to impress her. Despite being possibly mortally wounded in the fight, he does manage to take down Fernand, and the Everman promises him that he's not done yet, and even if he is, he'll get a hero's funeral.
-->A hero. 977 could live with that.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/empty-nights Empty Nights]] takes place after the EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. The last people on earth, a lonely man from nowhere and a broken man trapped in his immortality, meet. The old man gives up his own salvation to instead let the broken man finally die, and the All-Death finally comes to give the old man his freedom.
-->'''Old Man:''' What kind of safety is death? What could be worse?\
'''All-Death:''' [[FateWorseThanDeath Life could be.]] Come, and be comforted. Our grudge is finally done.
* At one point the Foundation apparently wiped out SCP-2256, a race of beautiful and harmless albeit extremely massive beings, ''[[NiceJobBreakingItHero accidentally]]''. [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/champions-of-nothing Except that the last tale of the Antimemetics series]] reveals that the Very Tall Things aren't really dead. They actually evolved even more powerful [[LaserGuidedAmnesia antimemetic armor]] and continued on living beyond the Foundation's notice. They ended up eating the monster spiders [[GodOfEvil SCP-3125]] unleashed on the universe.
* The [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/competitive-eschatology-hub Competitive Eschatology]] canon has its share of these.
** [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/the-white-horse "The White Horse (The Conqueror With The Golden Crown)"]] sees SCP-231-7 finally, ''finally'' [[EarnYourHappyEnding earning her happy ending]] after she awakens as the [[HorsemenOfTheApocalypse Horseman of Conquest]], telling off God for not saving her and leaving the Earth with her newfound freedom.
** [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/the-pale-horse "The Pale Horse (The Wayward Children)"]] has many of these. Among the most notable being:
*** SCP-682 awakening as the Pale Horse, which opens with God telling it that He has forgiven it for its past crimes and welcoming it back into His kingdom, which makes 682 ''[[NotSoStoic overwhelmed with joy]]''.
--->''You have endured your suffering long enough. Your punishment is finished.''\
\
Emotions flew through the living creature's mind. Incomprehension and disbelief, then joy, then regret, then sorrow.\
\
''All is forgiven. Once more, you are one of Mine, and you will never pass from My sight again.''\
\
The living creature felt elation - gratitude and elation beyond compare.
*** After incapictating Dr. Clef, 682 assures him that he has not killed him nor disabled him in a way that the Foundation can't fix, then [[HeelFaceTurn apologizes to him for all the grief he's caused both him, the Foundation and humanity overall]].
*** And of course, 682's reunion with SCP-053, who turns out to be the rider who represents Death.
--->The living creature met the little girl for the second time in several thousand years and nuzzled her with delight. She kissed him, giggled a girlish giggle, and climbed onto his back.\
\
Reunited with her Steed at last, Death rode hard towards the vast army of angels to join their march across the world.\
\
And Hell followed with them.
* [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/where-they-all-go "Where They All Go"]], where the Foundation finds an unusual mass behind the Moon. They send a probe to investigate, and... well, did you ever let go of a balloon when you were a kid and wondered where it ended up?
