----
* When Mumble meets his mother for the first time. He's so excited and happy to finally meet her, he starts dancing as he goes up to her. His mother takes note of his dancing and asks about it, but quickly accepts it because she simply loves her chick.
** Mumble's whole relationship with his mother; Norma Jean is nothing but supportive of her son and defends his quirks. She says she likes his dancing and even says, "So what if he's different? I've always liked different!"
** When the elders exile Mumble, Norma Jean is the first person to instantly defy them and openly defends her son's right to stay. Keep in mind, her defying and outright insulting the elders was a big risk to take. But she doesn't care because she loves her son that much.
* When Mumble fails in his first attempt at singing during school, the other kids begin laughing at him, leaving him embarrassed. However, Gloria sticks up for him and snaps, "It's not funny!" while giving him a genuinely concerned look. Really shows she's a true friend.
* When all the chicks in Mumble's class are singing during practice, he's stuck by himself in the far back of the class all alone. However, while all the other kids simply ignore him, Gloria turns around to smile at him and give him a reassuring look. It's a small yet sweet moment because it shows Gloria is the only person (other than his mother) to treat the ostracized Mumble kindly.
* Even in the beginning after Mumble hatched from his egg, some older penguins are concerned about how he’s moving his feet.
** When Mumble first falls into the water, the Penguins are worried if he’s alright.
** After getting the fish from Boss Suka and his crew, Mumble crashed on the ground. Some of the witnesses look worried and concerned if Mumble was dead or not. Goes to show how even though he’s an outcast, at least some of the penguins actually do care about Mumble to at least not wanting to see him hurt.
* The amigos just accept Mumble as one of their own, no questions asked, and they stick by him all through both films. Fast and true friends, indeed.
** It goes deeper than that; it wouldn't be a stretch to say that their relationship is one of outright UndyingLoyalty to each other. Just some of the standout moments include:
*** Sticking by Mumble and wingman him for Gloria, no questions asked (it didn't work too well, but it's the thought that counts)
*** A blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but when Noah hits Ramon, Mumble's immediate with the rest of the Amigos saying "Watch it!" and immediately charges towards him, preparing to back them up all the way, showing that the loyalty is returned in full.
*** When among other things, Memphis tells Mumble to renounce his friends, he doesn't even consider it for a second. Out of the entire pack, other than his mother and Gloria, everyone has outright ostracized him to no end for his differences. The Amigos, however, stuck to him like glue from the get-go and supported him no matter what.
*** The amigos walking out on the pack with him when he's banished and singing "Leader of the Pack", standing around him as almost a sort of honor guard.
*** Accompanying Mumble through thick and thin on their journey to find the "aliens", a journey which included a brutal snowstorm and violent orcas!
*** When they get to the land of the elephant seals, they exchange a look that makes it seem for a moment like they're going to part ways (which would have been understandable, considering the potential danger they were facing down). But after only a few moments of hesitation, they're following their friend headfirst because they stuck by each other the whole time, and damn if they're gonna stop now.
*** As a matter of fact, they're stuck by his side all the way until he begins swimming for Florida. At this point, he specifically tells them to go back, look after Gloria and his mother for him, and to tell his family about what happened.
*** Even after the three months that Mumble is stuck in the zoo, they had complete faith that he'd make it back one day. And sure enough, they're still waiting for him in Emperorland with his mother when he finally comes back.
---> Raul: "I knew you'd come back!"
*** A bit of FridgeBrilliance as well applies when you realize that when they popped their heads out from under the snow, it's implied that either Norma Jean let them stay with her during the entire time, which is extremely significant considering how they were viewed when Mumble was banished, or that they're frequent visitors and keep in contact with her, possibly to console her over her lost son
*** Unlike even Gloria, who was occasionally embarrassed by her friendship with Mumble, they're not ashamed at all of their friendship with him even in so much as the slightest. As a matter of fact, they're actually quite proud of it, with Ramon telling him that (other than himself), Mumble probably "has the most charisma of anybody" and that he probably "gets all the girls".
*** It's made extremely clear that they legitimately think he's cool as well, and not in a patronizing way whatsoever. Out of all the characters in the movie, they're the first bunch who clearly like him for who he is. If that's not heartwarming, I don't know what is. HeterosexualLifePartners indeed.
*** Their relationship is just as strong in the second movie, even if most of them other than Ramón don't get as much screentime. The main kids seem to see them as sort of crazy uncles, and it's even implied that Mumble and Gloria made them Eric's godfathers of sorts. One way or another, they're clearly beloved and valued members of Mumble's family.
*** This is clearly shown when Eric is in danger of falling in the cave-in and is hanging onto Mumble by a literal thread. They immediately jump and rush to help their best friend rescue his kid in a mix of heartwarming and funny, wrapping the unraveling sweater's yarn around them as fast as they can to pull him up. It's pretty much implied that without them, Eric likely would have fallen to his death.
* The slow, building scene after it looks like Gloria is rejecting Mumble for the final time... and then in desperation, he finally stops pretending to be something he's not and begins to dance without holding back... and they both realize that his rhythm matches Gloria's heartsong.
** Even better; his 'heartsong' is the perfect accompaniment to hers.
** Later, when Mumble's party is on their way to find the aliens, Gloria arrives, and begins serenading Mumble, fully prepared to go with him to the ends of the earth, having realized her love for him. Mumble protests, stating that she may lose her friends, family, everything she cares about on their journey -- and Gloria simply responds, "Then I'll have you." Mumble is still determined to send her away, but is visibly moved and elated that Gloria is reciprocating his love.
*** When Mumble finally succeeds in driving Gloria away so she won't be endangered by their quest, the Amigos reassure Mumble that he did a very brave, noble thing.
* During the final leg of their journey, the group is pushing through an almighty blizzard. They're constantly getting forced back, but once they all finally unite and push together as one, they are able to make it through.
* Mumble and the Amigos' concern for Lovelace throughout the whole journey, despite the fact that he lied to them all about being a guru. Particularly Mumble, who at one point gently asks the choking Lovelace if he wants to keep moving or needs to take a break. And on the other end, what are Lovelace's first words after he's freed from the "talisman"?
--> Lovelace: (to Mumble) Thank you, my brother, thank you!
* Lovelave's boast to Mumble after watching the young penguin dash off into the sunset to confront the aliens, knowing full well it could be the last time any of them would ever see him.
-->Lovelace: (Bellowing) Hey! It's me, Lovelace! Formerly known as "Guru"! I'm gonna be telling your story, Happy Feet! Long after you dead and gone!
* Mumble dancing for the little human girl at the zoo. He's visibly disheartened when she leaves ...only to brighten up when she brings her mother to watch him too.
* Mumble returns to the colony and though it looks like he lost his chance for love with Gloria, she reveals she’s simply teaching a school alongside Seymour. And despite how they parted on frosty terms, Gloria says plainly she never found the right heart song, showing she still loves Mumble and no one else.
* The aliens/human expedition team dancing with the penguins and getting caught up in the moment. One even begins dancing so enthusiastically, he falls over in his excitement.
* One throw-away line during the "help the penguins" montage near the climax:
-->"I don't want to live in a world without Penguins!"
