* Mathesar's undiminished faith in Nesmith, despite being captured and tortured by Sarris, is so touching.
--> '''Mathesar''': ''(Sarris's men bring Jason and the others into the room where Mathesar is tied to a table)'' Commander, thank God you're alive. Now you will face justice, Sarris...
* Alexander finally [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7bo_A6XnUU#t=1m35s uttering his catchphrase on his own accord]], and ''meaning it''. This just shows that genuine admiration, from a legitimate fan in his final moments at the arms of the one he adulated, can go a very long way.
** Not to mention the look of absolute ''joy'' on Quellek's face as his hero promises to avenge his death. This doubles as, quite possibly, the biggest [[TearJerker/GalaxyQuest Tear Jerker]] in the film... and just to make it all the more touching, [[Awesome/GalaxyQuest Alexander leaves the room and immediately begins making good on his promise.]]
** Said line was frequently posted by a lot of people on Twitter and Facebook, in light of the passing of Creator/AlanRickman.
* Tommy putting so much effort into "re-learning" how to fly the ship, when he's finally convinced that it matters.
--> '''Tommy''': (''*practicing* while watching an episode of the show'') Pedal to the metal!
* Fred convincing Guy that he's not the [[RedShirt "throw-away extra guy"]].
** Even right before that; Guy's weakening voice and legs show he's still as terrified of his (perceived) fate as before, but Guy [[HeroicSacrifice has decided to accept it to save the rest of the cast and crew]].
** When the show gets rebooted, Guy becomes a AscendedExtra with a badass name to boot.
* On the alien planet, in a blink and you'll miss it moment, Jason shows that yes, he ''does'' know Guy's last name.
* At the end of the film, the team has had a DynamicEntry into the side of a convention center (thankfully not killing anyone), with Sarris finally dead and the fans ecstatic. Jason goes forward to bow, [[CharacterDevelopment but then remembers that his team are there, and tells them to all come forth, as he feels that they equally deserve the applause.]] They gladly accept, at which point Jason kisses Gwen. Contrast to the beginning of the film, when they were almost all reluctant to be there, Jason was [[AttentionWhore hogging the limelight,]] and [[WeUsedToBeFriends Gwen couldn't stand him at all.]]
* Brandon and his friends, and the way the movie treats them. These aren't useless, pathetic geeks wasting their lives in a juvenile fantasy; they're intelligent people with strong interpersonal friendships, who have an incredible amount of passion for a show that has been empirically proven to ''change lives'' and make people (aliens, in this case) believe in friendship, loyalty, courage, and a better future. It's a love letter to Trekkies and their devotion to the show. Hell, at one point, ''the fans save the day'' solely because, instead of just shrugging the whole thing off as just a stupid TV show, they connected with it on a deeply emotional level and ''created'' something wonderful. Also, when Brandon and his friends arrive at the con after the ship crashes in and Serris is killed, Jason does the salute to them and they do it back.
* One for the con scenes, take a good look at the crowds in each of the cons. The con has people of all walks of life there: men, women, children, married people, single couples, cosplayers, and so many more of multiple different ethnicities. It would've been so easy to show the fans as a bunch of stereotypical dorky overweight males only, but they didn't. They instead showed us the truth, that fans come in all shapes and sizes.
* One of the reasons Creator/PatrickStewart, before finding out it was an AffectionateParody, didn't want to see the movie was because he thought it would mock Star Trek fans. Creator/JonathanFrakes thankfully talked him into it.
--> '''Stewart:''' I had originally not wanted to see [Galaxy Quest] because I heard that it was making fun of Star Trek and then Jonathan Frakes rang me up and said 'You must not miss this movie! See it on a Saturday night in a full theatre.' And I did and of course I found it was brilliant. Brilliant. No one laughed louder or longer in the cinema than I did, but the idea that the ship was saved and all of our heroes in that movie were saved simply by the fact that there were fans who did understand the scientific principles on which the ship worked was absolutely wonderful. And it was both funny and also touching in that it paid tribute to the dedication of these fans.
* Jason experienced a sad, in-universe CreatorBreakdown in the beginning of the movie, in which he angrily admits to Brandon that ''Galaxy Quest'' is a dumb television show, nothing more, nothing less. He spends the rest of the night [[DrowningMySorrows drowning his sorrows]] over the dull reality of his fandom, and the fact he's a shadow of his once truly successful acting self (while probably thinking IWishItWereReal). Then, the next day, Jason's faith in ''Galaxy Quest'' and his role's recognition gets restored more than ever. He gets to experience the ''real thing,'' created by an alien species, and despite being initially freaked out, he becomes genuinely excitable like a little kid, whose imagination turns into reality. Seriously, watch Jason blabbering to the other cast members about the ship. He's so damn ''thrilled'' experiencing the fiction becoming real, and getting to play his role again in a real space adventure.
** Just think: even the most cynical Hollywood hack would like to think that their words and ideas could inspire an entire civilization to better itself. The Thermians' loved ''Galaxy Quest'' so much, it gave them hope and inspiration even as Sarris was hell-bent on their genocide.
*** When Mathesar explains how the "Historical Documents" helped shape their society:
----> '''Mathesar:''' Yes, in the last hundred years our society had fallen into disarray. Our goals, our values had become scattered. But since the transmission we have modeled many aspects of our society from your example, and it has saved us. Your courage, teamwork, friendship through the adversity... In fact, all you see around you comes from the lessons garnered from the historical documents.
** Speaking of which: Despite starting out an egomaniac, Jason gets a PetTheDog moment when he ''immediately'' decides to share his experience with his resentful co-stars, including an especially bitter Alexander Dane, in order to restore their faith in ''Galaxy Quest'' as well. Sure, they think he's full of it (especially after he lost some evidence to Brandon by mistake), but once they finally manage to get on the ship, they're ''awestruck.'' (Well, except [[UnfazedEveryman Fred.]])
--->'''Alexander''': ''(First seeing the {{Defictionalized}} ''Protector'')'' Oh... my God. [[AndYouThoughtItWasAGame It's real.]]
* Despite disliking Jason's glory hound attitude, [[SarcasticDevotee Gwen]] shows concern for him after witnessing his OOCIsSeriousBusiness HeroicBSOD CreatorBreakdown when he lashes out at Brandon, after just losing faith in ''Galaxy Quest'' and himself.
** Not to mention that later on, in Gwen's phone call to Alexander, it's implied that Jason ''never'' mistreats a fan and appreciates them greatly.
** It's also implied while the crew is arguing on the mining planet that Jason and Gwen have dated in the past.
* Earlier, while trying to explain to the Thermians that ''Galaxy Quest'' is just a show, despite the resentment of their fandom that they grew over the years, especially Alexander, the cast try to break it down to the Thermians gently without any mean-spiritness or flippant-ness that should be expected from actors who dislike being remembered for a certain show. Even when Sarris holds them and Mathesar captive during their DarkestHour, Jason becomes the most reluctant to break it down to the usually happy-go-lucky Mathesar, who then goes into a HeroicBSOD when hearing it.
* Nesmith's farewell to Mathesar:
-->'''Mathesar:''' We were hoping you could come with us. You see, my people have no commander.\
'''Nesmith:''' Mathesar, I think your people have a ''great'' commander, sir. ''[[PassingTheTorch (Salutes him.)]]''
** Followed by Teb giving Mathesar an additional smiling salute.
* Laliari staying on Earth (and becoming a cast member on the rebooted show, which essentially makes her an AscendedFangirl) because [[InterspeciesRomance she and Fred have become an item]].
** There's not a word spoken when she and Fred approach Mathesar about her staying on Earth. They approach him, smiling, and he instantly understands and gives his approval. Jason's right, Mathesar is a great commander, putting the happiness of one of his crew first.
* After Jason defeats Sarris, he notices Brandon and his friends in front of the stage, and salutes them in recognition.
* Gwen outright states several times that her only job on the show was to have breasts and repeat what the computer said, however it's worth noting that the Thermians, while basically being the ultimate fans, never once view her as a sex-object or treat her (or any of the other crew members) as being less important than the Commander, something which was apparently very common in the show (to the point that Nesmith has his own autograph table away from the others, who were all huddled around one table together). Shows just how much they really did love the show, they felt that every crew member was important, even the nobodies like Guy.
