* The very end: Jack Prescott at home, nervous and fretting... [[spoiler: and gets up to welcome Kate home.]]

[[AC: Jolene]]
* After finding out how bad Anna's home life had been, Aunt Jinny informs her that if she had known that they had been so badly off, she would have had Anna come live with her sooner. Or if Anna's father had refused to let her go, at least Jinny could have sent food parcels along with the healing potions. Anna is touched by the thought and assures her aunt that it's not her fault, as her parents wouldn't have accepted the food.
* Though Aunt Jinny herself has no interest in feminine frippery, she understands Anna's desire for things of that nature. On their trip to Ducktown, she buys a corset and material for a Sunday best dress for Anna, along with some sacks of flour in patterns that she would never wear herself. (Jinny also makes it clear that Anna is not to worry about the cost, and adds that she was getting tired of eating cornbread and with the two of them, it's now worth it to make bread and pie.) Aunt Jinny also digs out some of her mother's old clothing to be remade for Anna, and agrees with Anna's assessment that a coat made out of the leftover material from a wool dress would be like being wrapped up in her kinfolk.
* After Anna's first magic lesson, Aunt Jinny expresses pride in how well she is taking to magic and following receipts to make healing potions. Anna is touched by the praise and in turn informs her aunt that she has the best teacher and that nobody could ask for a better aunt.
