* Simply, Ezio being reunited with his old friend Leonardo in Rome. They haven't seen each other for a while. That's TrueCompanions right there.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbgAJXfeFb0&list=ULR3mmXAzXzr8&playnext=1 This scene]] at the end of Sequence 5 (warning: spoilers). [[spoiler: "My sister knows how to wield a knife..." He sounds mildly surprised, like it was obvious in retrospect. He sounds far more impressed.]]
** Especially since, before this scene, Ezio clearly does not approve of [[spoiler: Claudia managing the Rosa In Fiore]].
** Then [[spoiler: he inducts her as an official Assassin and has her fight alongside him to retake Rome. SiblingTeam!]]
* Ezio tells Leonardo he’s aware of his relationship with Salaì and that the two are a good pair at the end of ''The Da Vinci Disappearance''.
** Especially since this is during a historical period in which homosexuality was treated as a ''criminal offense'' (RealLife Leonardo once risked being arrested for sodomy in Florence, charges were dropped). Ezio is being extremely progressive and tolerant, even by today's standards.
* Any time when -- later in the story, and after your efforts to renovate Roma -- you get into a fight with the guards and at some point realise that the civilians in the background are ''cheering for you'', and it's not just the vigilantes.
* If you pay close attention, you will notice that after you liberate a district from Borgia control, the lives of the citizens in the area will slowly improve with them wearing better clothes, the amount of [[DrowningMySorrows public drunkenness]] and beggars will decrease, and the people will have a much more prominent presence in the streets since it is now safer to walk around the city. It is really nice to know that you really are making a difference for the people of Rome.
** Tumblers appear in places, practicing and showing off for crowds. {{Painters}} set up easels wherever strikes their fancy. The city as a whole is much more vibrant.
** Also, sometime when you walk around in the liberated districts, the grateful citizens will be waving and cheering for you, with the vigilantes telling you that you are an example that everyone should follow.
** Perhaps the most heartwarming example of all is how the couples act before and after your liberation has progressed. Under Borgia control, they would have been crying or hugging in each other's arms. Afterward, you will find them cuddling behind trees, watching stars together at night, and proposing for marriage.
* Ezio finds a crying boy sitting on the docks early in the game and asks him what is wrong. He not only promises to help get the child's mother back from slavers, he speaks very tenderly to him, telling him that he is a brave young man. It's a softer side of Ezio that you rarely get to see, and it's truly touching.
* The fight against the French general, Baron Valois, has many heartwarming moments.
** Bartolomeo d'Alviano goes into AttackAttackAttack mode after his wife, Pantasilea, is initially captured. He doesn't know any other way to rescue her because she’s the one who usually plans his more complicated operations. "Pantasilea would know what to do...." this line shows how closely they work together.
** When Ezio rescues Pantasilea, the typically gruff, boisterous mercenary is overcome with relief and hugs his wife tightly, telling her that he didn't know what he would do if he lost her.
** Ezio gives him the credit for the TrojanHorse idea so he can look better in front of her.
** Pantasilea calls Bartolomeo "my prince" then gives him another hug, and he says he will have to earn that title.
** Pantasilea's relationship with Bartolomeo in general counts. She lets him take the lead in his typically boisterous manner, then hangs back to speak the truth to Ezio, giving Bartolomeo his pride in command while ensuring that the tactical work of strategy happens, showing how well they balance one another out.
* One example that few people notice is the music. After beating the game, and free roaming, if you destroy the Borgia influence on the area, the music becomes upbeat, fast, with a child, then a woman, singing in chorus. It REALLY shows how you killing the Borgia makes the civilians lives better.
* When Ezio first met Cristina, she wouldn't give him the time of the day. But then he followed her and saw Vieri trying to rape her. After beating him up, Cristina gratefully gives Ezio his "second chance" with a peck on his cheek. ''Awwwww''.
* The conclusion of the "La Volpe is suspicious of Machiavelli" subplot in Sequence 7 has several moments.
** [[spoiler: La Volpe is immediately contrite and thankful to Ezio for stopping him from killing Machiavelli.]]
** [[spoiler: Ezio's line "what debt is there between friends who trust each other?"]]
** [[spoiler: The scene ends with La Volpe putting an arm around Machiavelli and two walking off for a friendly talk, joking with each other.]]
** [[spoiler: There’s an implication that, given Machiavelli's close-to-the-vest manner of doing things, that he was aware that La Volpe was suspicious of him but doesn't bring it up as not to contribute to in-fighting. He might even have known that La Volpe was going to kill him and using KillMeNowOrForeverStayYourHand, trusting in his friend.]]
* Your attitude towards your recruits. It really makes you feel like a leader to watch them all become Master Assassins knowing that you were TheMentor to them. You even become protective of them, such as when you call them to fight Papal Guards with one Marker and the papal guards nearly kill one of your recruits. As a gamer, [[PragmaticHero you are partly motivated by the knowledge that such a recruit will be hard to replace (and train from scratch)]], but the end result is you feel emotionally vested in their survival, and it totally fits Ezio's character as AFatherToHisMen FrontlineGeneral that he would think twice before sending others to die for him.
** In addition to that, the battle at Rome's gates in the endgame. The heroic battle music, the fact that the whole Brotherhood is helping and you can also call upon your own recruits that you have become invested in has the potentional to strike a chord or two.
** Ubisoft took a few steps to personalize the recruits. They have different models, individual names, and implied hobbies when they are hanging around the HomeBase. For instance, one of them is a {{bookworm}} because she’s always staring at a bookcase. Another pair are seen talking with each other and re-acting previous missions. They will even greet Ezio with lines like "welcome home". These aren’t disposable {{red shirt}}s.
* Templar Agents
** One of the side missions has Ezio find a woman standing at the edge of a building, looking like she's about to jump. He spends a while talking to her, empathizing and discovering why she feels the need to do it, before offering to solve her problem so she need not kill herself.
** Another has Ezio talk with a guy looking over a ruined vendor stall. As the conversation continues, the guy suddenly realizes that he's talking to "The Assassin", the one who fights the Borgia and helps people. He sounds so happy and relived, as if he's been handed a way out of a no-win situation.
