[[folder:The New Rachel]]
* If Jake and Puck's deadbeat dad is their shared parent, why do they share a last name? In the US, the baby normally gets the mother's last name if she's not married, and it's very unlikely that Mr. Puckerman would marry both babymamas.
** The key word is "normally". It's not unheard of for single mothers to give the child the father's surname, or a hyphenated surname.
** In "Britney 2.0", it's implied that Puck's dad did marry his mom, and that Jake's conception was the reason for their divorce. From there it's easy to imagine that he married Jake's mom but later split from her as well.
*** Then how does Puck have a little sister?
*** A half-sibling from their mother's side.
* For that matter, how does Jake know about Puck but not vice versa?
** If his dad didn't tell him - or his mum didn't find out about his dad's other family and tell him - he might have worked it out from the publicity surrounding New Directions' Nationals win.
* Is the show ever going to treat Lima and Akron like they're on opposite ends of the state and not one town over? Who is Unique living with?
** Also, wasn't it established in season 2 that it is incredibly difficult to leave Vocal Adrenaline, when Sunshine had to pick between being deported and staying with the group?
** Sunshine's situation was quite different, since Carmel High was sponsoring her visa.
** Also, it's sort of implied that with the second straight loss at Nationals last year, the glory days for VA are a thing of the past.
* Rachel's teacher, when supposedly proving how awesome she is at dancing, didn't choose a particularly strenuous routine. There were a couple of impressive bits, but they were all separate with plenty of student-level stuff in between, and most of the work was being done by the guys in the scene. Does anyone know if this was intentional, to provide another strong hint that she's not as good as she wants her students to think she is, [[WatsonianVersusDoylist or]] if it was an example of Glee having a scene where they need a character to have a LOT of talent but the actor/choreographers/whomever don't quite have it?
** Too soon to tell, but I agree with you. I topped out at a lower-intermediate dance level (and that's a generous estimate) and I could have done that routine. (Past tense because I'm out of shape.) I was not impressed by that number and I'm confused how even a layperson could have been. However, I kind of lean towards the former at this point because...well, if she was that fabulous, why is she teaching and not performing? She's not really old enough to be completely broken down like older dancers get, and even if she was I'd expect some indication that she's in pain or has some problem or something -- in short, that the reason she doesn't perform is that she just can't anymore. If that were the case, she shouldn't have been able to do that number at all without some serious arthritis meds and a couple weeks of pain.
** Well... Hate to say this, but Glee writers aren't that subtle. That number was clearly supposed to be cool, awesome and ubertalented but Kate Hudson, while she defended herself pretty nicely, simply doesn't have the dancing skills to do a top-level choreography. So, I'd say it's the second case.
** After "Britney 2.0" I think it is a little from column A and a little from column B. She obviously has a drinking problem (seen in "The New Rachel") She is teaching because she is mentally broken down, not physically. Her drinking could keep her from learning and performing complex routines (In-Universe explanation) and I don't think Kate Hudson has the dance experience to perform difficult choreography (out of universe explanation).
* When they post the list with the New Directions members for the 2012-2013 term, you can see there's only nine members. Weren't twelve members required to compete?
** Well, [[ForegoneConclusion we all know Jake is joining]], so then they'd only need 2 more members to fit the minimum, and I imagine those are new characters we haven't met yet.
** Blake from the Glee Project will show up in a couple episodes, so that means one more. (Probably Kitty)
** Sectionals 2011 they pulled members from the jazz band to perform to meet the minimum requirements. It's not really an issue anymore.
*** True, but they only did that a last resort and it's certainly not an ''ideal'' solution, not for them or the viewers.
** The thing is, the headscratcher is in-universe, not out of universe. Out of universe, we all know Jake, Blake and probably Kitty will join. In universe, it doesn't make sense for them to remain with 9 members AFTER the auditions, specially considering how many people auditioned.
* Schue always makes a big deal about how he wants Glee to be more popular, so then when tons of kids start auditioning, why does he only accept one? As the rival choirs have shown, there can be quite a few members, and it can't be a talent issue because Sugar is still in the group.
** To be fair, Sugar ''was'' rejected due to lack of talent and only joined the club after a complicated series of events. She also [[MoneyDearBoy helps pay for things]]. As for the rest, perhaps success has gone to Will's head as much as the kids'?
* So... if Blaine is the New Rachel then is he male lead? And if Brittany is "co-Rachel" does that mean Will made her female lead? I'm confused as to why he would do that instead of using Marley or Tina.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Britney 2.0]]
* Why wouldn't Sam tell the group that Brittany's lip-syncing demand was her channeling Britney? One could say it was because they had an hour to fill, but what did they fill it with? Brittany had no growth from the episode, she's still on a low point and the entire thing will be forgotten by the next episode.
** I'd dispute that she had no growth. She's trying harder in school. She has a friend (Sam) that she can turn to about her loneliness, someone that understands her, at least a little bit. True, not all of her problems are solved but that's life. As to why Sam didn't tell the group, possibly he didn't put things together until after the fact, maybe he felt that it was more important for Brittany to go on her emotional journey than worry about some stupid pep rally. (I'm assuming that the kids didn't know about the "no lip syncing" rule beforehand, none of them seemed to when Schue told them.)
* Rachel and Kurt are reminiscing about it being Britney week again... but there never was a Britney week. Every song by Britney they sang was a dream sequence or Toxic.
** IIRC, it was a week of Kurt bitching about wanting to sing Britney and the kids hallucinating while getting their teeth fixed because...
* Why doesn't Marley's mom just report the kids giving her a hard time? She ''is'' part of the faculty.
** She doesn't want to make things worse for Marley? Or you know, maybe she has and Figgins is just being his usual, ineffectual self in regards to the complaint.
*** Marley hasn't apparently been spreading it around though, except to stand up for her on that occasion, so it wouldn't make anything worse for Marley. She also should have been reporting it at every school.
*** And she's staff, not faculty (the latter usually refers to tenured teachers). Maybe she's worried about her job, or has some other reason to internalize their insults.
* How did Puck afford a ticket from LA to Ohio round trip for single day (I assume). Is he making that much money already?
** Throw in that he would have to have bought it last minute, that's a really expensive lesson to teach a brother he didn't even know about yesterday.
** When I saw the episode, I assumed that Schue paid for it for him.
* Remember the Zero Tolerance policy? Why wasn't Jake suspended for fighting those two jerks? Apparently it doesn't apply if you're fighting to impress a girl you want to see on the side.
** It came up one time when Santana slapped Finn, and not when Lauren wiped the floor with her--literally--in the middle of the hallway. (which was a hilarious scene, but still)
** Or when Quinn and Santana got into it in the middle of the hallway, or either time Puck and Finn got into it, or when the football team got into a civil war over Karofsky bullying Kurt, and y'know, Karofsky bullying Kurt for that matter.
* Odd question but: did the cat actually join a gang or did someone simply put him in the outfit and Brittany assumed he did? It funny either way, I'm just curious.
** It's implied that he is some form of IntellectualAnimal judging by the amount of things he is seen or said to be doing over the series (e.g; chores, smoking, being addicted to ecstasy, reading Scientology. And being a slumlord!). Plus according to Marley when she used her animal physic powers thing he's trying to lose weight and apparently has a gambling addiction.
* So wait, they have to censor "Bad Romance" (in and out of universe) and yet they can sing a song about a threesome. [[FlatWhat What?]]
** "Bad Romance" had swearing in it while "3" does not (even though they swear on the show, I guess they try to keep the songs cleanish). I'm more bothered by the fact that they can sing about a threesome but not say "transsexual" in a song ("Sweet Transvestite" from the ''Film/TheRockyHorrorPictureShow'' episode).
** I think that's a function of their being on an hour later. You can get away with more than you could in their old spot.
** Because it doesn't explicitly say "We're having a fucking threesome" that's how censorship in pop music works you can talk about whatever you want you just can't say "naughty words" (which apparently includes transsexual) there's a huge difference between saying the word ''[=Bitch=]'' in a song and singing a song that's about 3 somes but doesn't outright say as far as censorship is concerned. That's why songs that regularly talk about sex and what not are allowed to play at school functions for as low as grade school just as long as its not explicit about what they're talking about.
* The real headscratcher about "3" is why the hell is ''Joe'' the very devout Christian singing a song about threesomes in the first place?
** Not all devout Christians view sex as a filthy shameful thing reserved only for baby-making within the bounds of marriage, and many denominations do indeed teach that there's nothing sinful about having a healthy, responsible sex life. Even if Joe's still abstinence-only, he can like the song without endorsing its message, the same way not all gangsta rap fans are hardened criminals.
* Why did Rachel turn Brody down? As a troper below mentioned, Finn broke up with her months ago, like, right before summer break. She's still painting his name in hearts on walls... Brody's dodging a bullet.
** It was a long, complicated three year relationship. It was also her first love, plus Rachel doesn't exactly seem like the type of person to just lets things go. It stands to reason that Rachel's still hung up on him and in denial about the status of their relationship or at the very least still hanging onto the fact that she is/was in love with Finn. I'm not necessarily saying it was the smartest decision in the world, but people do dumb things.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Makeover]]
* Didn't elections happen much later in the season, during season 3?
** Yes. [[WritersCannotDoMath The writers can't use a calendar]] apparently.
** I think it's more likely they got criticized for how long the election story went on last year so they decided to shorten it. In story you could say that last year's election got pretty nasty and the school board wanted to prevent that so they greatly reduced the campaign season.
* This isn't a headscratcher, but when Blaine and Sam are at the victory party, when they say something at the same time, what do they say?
** They both said "I'm Wolverine"
* So uh...Finn and Rachel broke up at the end of season 3, didn't they? Did the writers forget that little detail?
** Well Finn broke up with Rachel, who was still very much in love, and he did it for her benefit. So they still love each other, which means that it is perfectly logical that he would drop by for a visit. I guess.
** Unannounced, after deliberately not having any contact with her for three months. Pretty presumptuous.
*** It sounded pretty definitive that Finn broke up with Rachel at the end of Season Three. She had every right to move on after a three-month "mourning" period, making the real headscratcher being why Finn thinks he can just show up unannounced like everything was okay.
*** It's Finn.
* So are we all in agreement that Brittany threw the election?
* Why is Rachel cooking duck if she's a vegan? (also, there was the pizza and the ice-cream)
** Well, there's such a thing as vegan pizza and vegan ice cream and both are readily available in New York City so that could reasonably be explained away. The duck... that's Glee's utter lack of continuity one again.
** There's also the possibility of her trying to cook it for the date. She probably wasn't going to eat any of it and assumed Brody would appreciate having a food that was not vegan. It might explain why it [[LethalChef went horribly wrong too.]] She probably never had any real practice cooking meat of any kind.
*** That would still be against her beliefs as a vegan, or at least what can be gathered about her beliefs from the limited comments in the wake of her egging and her initial reaction to being given a slaughter pig. For her, veganism is about personal ethics, not just a dietary choice.
*** While Rachel may be a vegan, she respects that Brody isn't. She could have made a vegan meal if she wanted (since I'm pretty sure Brody wouldn't mind because, hey, free meal), but instead she tried to impress him with her cooking skills. The real question is if Rachel had successfully cooked the duck, what was she going to eat?
*** Or Rachel's not actually vegan and it was just something she said because she thought it sounded good. Wouldn't be the first time.
*** Except it was made abundantly clear before like in The First Time and in other episodes that she is indeed Vegan.
* So it's establish both before and after this episode that Finn hasn't been in contact with anyone since leaving for boot camp. So how did he know where Kurt and Rachel lived?
** He probably just called his mom, who's married to Kurt's dad--they don't have to show every boring detail, you know.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Break-up]]
* What is the status of Brittana, are they actually still together, or did they just cut it off before things could turn into Klaine or Finchel?
** It seems pretty clear that they broke up. Rather than it being a fight or because someone cheated, it was because Santana knew they were growing apart, that they had no definite long-term plans for being together, and that it was only a matter of time before they got with someone closer. Sometimes, the worst breakups are the ones that ''aren't'' because someone was wronged.
** Personally, I see it as them being on a break. They can see other people if they feel like they want to, but with the idea that when Brittany's done with school, that they'll find each other again.
* Why did Brittany call "Mine" a sad song? It isn't a sad song at all.
** Well, it's a very emotional song and the way Santana sung it was sad. And I think she said it because it was just easier to blame her tears on the song than to acknowledge what was going on (the break up).
* Did Klaine actually break up? Last thing Blaine said was that he didn't know what their status was and just Kurt was ignoring him. Knowing Glee, the two of them will just forgive each other in a sickening sweet music number coupled with lots of apologies a few episodes don the line.
** Knowing Glee, Kurt will probably apologize to Blaine for daring to be hurt by his betrayal.
*** Doubt it. Absolutely no one is arguing that Kurt didn't have a right to be upset. He did. Blaine himself admitted that there was no excuse for what he did when Finn confronted him about it. It's likely that Blaine will be shown walking into the choir room looking upset and someone (probably Sam) will ask what's wrong. He'll say they broke up and that it was all his fault. I think he's likely to become understandably self loathing and maybe, if the writers actually notice Blaine's obvious emotional issues and follow up on the past they've hinted at, he'll be shown as seriously depressed. They have an absolutely golden opportunity to explore a depression storyline that, if treated with respect and care, could be amazing. Fingers crossed that they take it.
* Finn says he got discharged after shooting himself through the thigh. He'd been in the army for about 16 days then. It seems that US army recruits do get introduced to their rifles in week 3. The problem is, week 3's in Phase I. It seems recruits don't get live ammo till Phase II. Roughly the same applies where I come from and in most other countries. Recruits aren't trusted with live ammo quite so early. Just a minor nitpick, but I couldn't help noticing. Otherwise, it's not an unforgiveable mistake (if it is a mistake) and the episode was great overall.
** I suppose whoever wrote that episode didn't bother doing the research because they assumed the average Glee viewer has nothing to do with the army. In-universe, it can be explained as somebody else messing up and leaving ammo in the rifle. Or not. As I know nothing about the army.
** Actually, I heard something similar from a friend in the Army that you wouldn't be given live ammo so soon.
*** My biggest problem wasn't that he had live ammo that early into his army career, but that he didn't have his safety on when he wasn't at a firing range/practicing firing with it. Gun safety is a BIG DEAL and this troper is wondering how he got off with an honorable discharge for not following BASIC gun safety procedures.
*** Hm I think he said it was a "semi-honorable" discharge. That might actually mean "general discharge" or "entry level separation" instead of "honorable discharge", I suppose. That said, I am perplexed over why 1.) a live round got left in his rifle; 2.) he didn't clear his rifle before cleaning; and 3.) he didn't put the safety on. Guess you could put it down to recruit mistakes, but it's still a mistake.
*** 2) Because he's Finn. 3) Because he's Finn. The guy's an established idiot and scatterbrain. The only thing that's really a headscratcher is how the live round was in his rifle.
** He's Finn, not Wolverine. How does he heal up from a gunshot wound so quickly he can go on a trip all over Georgia, then get to NYC with NO discernible injuries?
* Not to continually beat a dead horse, but where does [[{{Hypocrite}} Finn]] get off slut shaming Blaine after [[DoubleStandard cheating on Quinn with Rachel in Season One]] and then [[MoralMyopia being complicit in Quinn cheating on Sam in Season Two]]?
** I just figured he was pissed off at Blaine not specifically for cheating, but for hurting Kurt. Then again, it is Finn.
*** With the hypocrisy thing, I think Finn realized that what he did in the past was wrong--as implied when he goes out of his way to make things better with Sam later in that season--and now has higher standards. Well, one would hope anyway.
*** It still doesn't justify him being all holier than thou with Blaine. "How could you do that to him?" I don't know Finn, how could you do it to Quinn and Sam? Hence the MoralMyopia. If he had well and truly realized the error of his ways then the correct response would be understanding, not condemnation.
** First, those actions were in seasons 1 and 2. It's like bringing up Kurt being full of crap in "Blame it on the Alcohol" or "Theatricality" if something were to happen - it's irrelevant. The characters have moved on. This is not a dead horse, this a horse that's into its prime years in its subsequent reincarnation. Second, while the show doesn't do a good job of showing it, Finn and Kurt are supposed to be brothers. By that token it stands to reason that if Blaine did something that hurt Kurt, which he did, then it would be perfectly reasonable for Finn to be concerned. Third, isn't "slut-shaming" something that refers more to things like... publicly insulting someone for being a sex worker, rather than privately confronting someone about an emotional betrayal?
*** Are people forgetting that Kurt is Finn's BROTHER?! Just because Finn has cheated before, doesn't mean he loses the right to be upset that someone betrayed his (step)brother.
*** No, slut-shaming is any kind of treating someone like they don't deserve respect/consideration/empathy/whatever because they have sex or want sex or are attractive. Public or private is irrelevant. (That said, telling someone they done fucked up for cheating on their lover is not necessarily slut-shaming. If the subject of the conversation is the disrespect for your partner in cheating on them, it's not slut-shaming; if the subject of the conversation is how much of a whore you are for fucking someone, it is. Granted it can be a fuzzy line.)
* OK, I could understand ShipSinking Finn/Rachel, since it's a very unpopular ship, many have argued that it's a toxic relationship, and since they obviously want to ship Rachel with Brody. Fine. But what about Klaine and Brittana? The distance between Kurt and Blaine was causing problems, but I didn't expect to see everything boil over so disastrously and so quickly that it causes a breakup...but at least they gave ''hints'' of that; the Brittana breakup just seemed to come completely out of the blue. It's as if Ryan Murphy and the other writers were just thinking "Eh, this episode is all about ShipSinking, so let's throw Britney/Santana in just for the heck of it!"
** Did you actually ''watch'' the scenes with Santana and Brittany? Santana had very valid reasons for her and Brittany to take a break, with the long-distance drama and everything. But since they're parting on good terms, they're leaving open the possibility of getting back together later.
** The pairings on this show are like musical chairs. How is this a headscratcher? How does it come any more "out of the blue" than anything else on this show, shipping-wise? And recall the scene in Brittany 2.0 where she's on Skype with Santana but Santana is often busy and unavailable?
* Also, what about Emma just brashly assuming that Will wanted her to do nothing while they were in Washington? It seemed like Will just assumed that Emma could pursue some other goal during their time there, rather than assuming she'd just sit around and do nothing. Did that thought never cross Emma's mind? I understand that she loves her job, but as Will points out, it's only a temporary sabbatical and faculty do that all the time, and she could easily spend that time pursuing some other goal that she's passionate about.
** Emma's disorder would probably cause her to start cleaning every street in the Washington DC area unless someone was there to act as an OnlySaneMan. Also, Will's busy with Sectionals, the retreat, getting more members in to fill the gap, etc.
* So wait; when Kurt texts another man for feeling distant from his boyfriend, he's slut shamed in front of ALL of ND. When Blaine cheats for the same reason two people get mad at him (granted Kurt breaks up with him). And Blaine, the one doing the slut shaming last year... IS THE ONE THAT CHEATS. Huh?!
** Perhaps the difference is that Kurt did not actually have sex with that boy. His actions might have been questionable, but even then he knew not to take it too far. Blaine on the other hand went all the way.
*** You do understand that the first person was asking why Kurt was treated harsher for what he did and Blaine got off relatively easy, right?
*** Probably because they are false equivalents. Kurt being an emotional cheat that had to get caught while Blaine acting out of emotional starvation with a one night stand and beat himself over backwards before confessing, both of which byproducts of Kurt being a terrible self centered boyfriend
*** ...was he, though? Kurt had a new job at VOGUE and wanted to nail it, but Blaine couldn't wait even two weeks to see him before cheating - that's pretty far from 'emotional starvation', they hadn't even had time to adjust to being long distance yet! Kurt definitely did mess up with Chandler and was approaching emotional affair territory with him, but what Blaine did was unambiguously worse
*** I think it's pretty much because Kurt and Blaine are different people, and react to things in different ways. When Kurt gets upset, he sulks and becomes irritable and withdrawn. When Blaine gets upset, he [[DramaQueen freaks the hell out]] and throws in a song about it for good measure. Take the Karofsky arc, for example. Kurt suffers pretty much in silence right up until he leaves for Dalton, but when Dave comes at him when he's with Blaine, it takes all of about 10 minutes for Blaine to try and start a fistfight. Let's face it, Blaine is melodramatic. It's what makes him such a good performer.
* Joe being in Kitty's Left Behind club. I get that the guy's a devoted Christian and everything, but given his characterization so far, there is no way he condones one second of what happened in that meeting. Not even getting started on Kitty staging a fake rapture to scare one of the members, her rant about how Jesus is going to come to earth and "judge the crap out of everybody" (her words, not mine) seems vastly different from what someone like Joe would believe. (And since it's [[AlphaBitch Kitty]], this is probably pretty typical of her meetings.) Which brings me to my question: Why on earth was he there?
** It seems like a mutated version of the God Squad, so he may have felt obligated to be there. Plus we don't know anything about his family life - he may have been raised in a situation similar to Kitty's and didn't think there'd be anything wrong with such actions until he actually witnessed them.
*** If you watch the beginning of the scene of Kitty’s rant, you can see a blink and you’ll miss it moment of Joe appearing to give Kitty the side-eye. It’s likely he does not believe in the garbage Kitty spews about his faith, but is too shy to stand up to her at the moment.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Role You Were Born To Play]]
* So Mercedes is working and going to school full time but can still come back to Lima for a week? In early November? I mean, it would be one thing if it was Spring Break, but this this is ridiculous. And Mike joined a ballet troupe despite having no formal training and yet he has time to take off from his rehearsals?
** Ballet companies cast on skill, not necessarily training. It's just incredibly hard to have sufficient skill without that training, if we're talking classical ballet. If it was modern ballet they might actually like having someone naturally skilled but mostly untrained, who they could mold into the dancer they want.
*** Okay but the point of the OP was not how did he get it, but rather how does he have time to take off from the company to come home and work on the Grease production?
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Glease]]
* Why would Cassandra think it's a good idea to sleep with her new TA for petty vengeance against a student... Wouldn't that be more than enough to get her fired if the truth broke out? I mean, that was Quinn's whole plan when she found out Shelby and Puck were sleeping together. Don't the glee writers remember.... anything? at all? ever?
** Cassandra is sleeping with her college-age student in New York, while Shelby slept with a high school-aged student in Ohio. No way of knowing if Glee-verse laws are the same in these cases. Also, we don't know if Shelby would have been fired at all, since Quinn didn't pursue it.
** Even at the college level, an instructor sleeping with a student is a HUGE breach of ethics. Even if it's not illegal, it could still get Cassandra fired if word got out. And unlike Quinn, Rachel has no reason not to blow the whistle.
** It's a huge breach of ethics in the real world, definitely, but in the Glee-verse, maybe it isn't such a big deal. Also, Cassandra may be a teacher at NYADA, but Brody isn't her student, he's her teaching assistant. NYADA might view it as sleeping with a coworker as opposed to a student. We have no way of knowing how this will play out yet.
** If he's her teaching assistant that makes him basically her secretary last I checked you can't have sex your secretary. Just look at what happened Bill Clinton.
*** So, it'll be scandalous but ultimately influence nothing?
*** A teaching assistant is '''STILL A STUDENT.'''
*** Rachel just has no luck with men. First she loses Finn through making him uncomfortable around other men and for that matter so would any guy dating her at the time now Brody is sleeping with her teacher. It makes you think the writers probably finally caved in to the fandom and is trying to turn Rachel into a lesbian.
*** Well, there are no other female characters in New York other than Cassie, so maybe Brody/Cassie is setup for Rachel/Cassie! LOL, but seriously, Rachel seems to be taking it pretty well. She recognized that she and Brody were not together, and thus he had no obligation to refuse passes from other pretty women. She also doesn't seem skeeved out about the teacher thing. My guess is that Rachel will throw Cassie's tryst with Brody in her face during some argument. I wouldn't expect any serious repercussions from this in the future.
* I don't know how it is in high schools, but when we book a room in our college, and the room isn't occupied for 15 minutes, someone else can take over that time slot, if Sue's really booking time in the auditorium, she needs to use it or lose it.
** No, the ''real'' problem here is that Sue pulled the ''exact same thing'' in "Home" back in season one, but that problem was supposed to be fixed after April Rhodes bought the auditorium, and specifically said that from then on it could only be used for musical theatre and show choir rehearsals.
* Speaking of Sue, Figgins just called her a menace to Ohio... why does he still employ her? She doesn't have Tenure, we know this, she was going up against Will and Emma for it a while back.
** Sue's blackmailing him.
** She agreed to let that go if Figgins allowed the Glee club to continue, so that's null and void.
** Just because Sue verbally agreed to it doesn't mean she wasn't lying.
** Or that she doesn't have something else we don't know about. Also, Figgins is terrible at his job and we know this.
* Did they really have Kitty try and convince Marley to be bulimic and not get reprimanded in any way? Also, you shouldn't be bulimic because then you'll taste like vomit and cute boys won't want to kiss you? Seriously? I'd forgive this if it was clear that this was the start of a multi-episode arc, but I'm sad to say I really doubt it.
** For that matter, is Marley seriously THAT gullible? Her normal clothes still fit fine, and there are these things called SCALES that tell you exactly how much you weigh. All she'd have to do is say to whoever's in charge of costuming that they don't fit right, and a cursory glance will see that they've been taken in.
** Marley was pretty stupid, definitely, but she wasn't the rage-inducing part of this episode for me. Kitty got away with trying to give a girl an eating disorder. They basically showed the audience how to make themselves throw up. And while Ryder had his heart in the right place by telling Marley not to do it, his words were all wrong. "You'll taste like vomit and then I won't want to kiss you?" Really writers? And then his story about the guy who took laxatives, while nice since it shows that guys go through this too, is used as a laugh. So, the only downsides to bulimia are vomit breath and crapping your pants. No mention of how being thin isn't necessary to be happy. Nice message, show.
** Thankfully they bring up the bulimia again the next episode and it turns out that Marley had purged everyday for a week. Hopefully they will go somewhere realistic with this (y'know, how bulimia is a disease and purging is addictive, how bulimics look (dark circles, greying teeth, puffy around the glands), etc.) but I doubt they will seeing as how Marley became more confident throughout the episode.
** Given Marley's mom's weight, they may not have a scale in the house.
* Have the writers ever been to Ohio? Nobody there says "This is Ohio and ______." The state is actually mixed on LGBT acceptance, and not necessarily along rural/urban lines. It's annoying as hell when the writers use it as a strawman for conservatism when polls show...ok...calming down. But for that matter, I'm still waiting to hear how Unique is commuting across the state to go to school.
** It wouldn't be the first time this happened where people commute incredibly far to go to school.
** Akron to Lima is a 3.5 hour drive (if you don't hit traffic) so that means that if Unique is getting to school by 8 am then she's probably leaving home around 4 and getting back sometime around 8 or 9. Seven hours a day, five days a week commuting, sound likely?
** Westerville is also 3 hours away from Lima but in show its pretty clear its not suppose to be more than a 20 minute drive. Clearly Ohio geography in Glee is different from real world Geography
* Related to the above bit about Marley not checking herself on a scale or noticing that her normal clothes still fit her, no one noticed at all that her costume had been altered, even ''without'' her saying anything? Granted, it probably wouldn't have been immediately obvious when she was wearing it, but it should have been easy to spot when she wasn't. I was in plenty of plays in high school and we saw those costumes every day. They were almost as familiar to us as our normal clothes. If Kitty had been continually altering that costume to make Marley think she was gaining weight, somebody should have noticed that it had gotten smaller.
** Also she probably had to get measured for the costume before making it. Getting a bit of measuring tape out and checking that her waist is still the same, if not smaller, would take about three seconds.
*** And you think they would have had to measure her waist anyway because they had to keep making her costume bigger.
* So Santana is so busy with school and cheerleading that she can't carve out an hour a day to call/Skype Brittany to keep their relationship going but she can come home for an entire weekend (less than a month before finals, no less) to play Rizzo in a school play?
** For that matter, why would they give her the part when she doesn't even go to the school anymore?
** My high school did a lot of plays where alum came back and performed lead(ish) roles.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Dynamic Duets]]
* So Will will be back in a few months just after sectionals.... which is in a week. [[FlatWhat What]].
* An entire episode about alter egos that let you be who you feel you are on the inside... and no Unique? Good job writers.
** On the other hand, the heroes represent who they feel they are on the inside, Unique already shows who she is. Her parents just told her to stay in her secret identity, and it always takes an episode or two for the captured hero to be freed.
* Speaking of missed opportunities, they have an episode with superheroes, use the the song superman, have the word kryptonite in their dialogue and DON'T sing Kryptonite? For shame.
** They might not have got the rights for it. Or they just couldn't work it in to the plot, at least well enough to have the song's original meaning still somewhat intact.
*** Since when have they cared even a little bit about the original meaning of the song. Last year Blaine and his brother sang a break-up song to each other.
*** A fairly general song that was written to be about a breakup, but applies pretty easily to any kind of emotional split or gulf. Kryptonite is not so malleable.
* Why does it seem like they're making Tina intentionally unlikeable (or at least oddly shouty/bitchy) right before sectionals, where she's a lead? Every quick shot of her looks like an afterthought insertion.
** Making Tina a bitch is just what the show needs amongst this current line up of boring characters and whiners in New Directions.
* So why didn't ND call the cops? They may not have proof of WHO stole it, but its blatantly obvious that Dalton would be checked and they'd say "Oh, there it is. So which of you stole it?" Mind you it'd probably be Sebastian arrested given the slushie incident and more evidence against him but still, someone goes down for it.
** a better question is why Blaine didn't just go to the Dalton Headmaster.
** After the headmaster didn't punish Sebastian for nearly blinding Blaine, he didn't trust the headmaster to do anything. Besides {{Rule of Drama}}
*** Then again it was hard for the headmaster to punish Sebastian when nobody bothered to report him (since St.Kurt put a stop to that) and Blaine's complaint made no sense.
* In addition to the above, it wouldn't take a genius to clean up the message. Hunter doesn't look like [[ComicBook/{{Batgirl}} Oracle]] to me if you catch my drift.
* I thought Sam was dyslexic... wasn't he?
* Ryder can't read but in the previous episode he was the lead of a play that requires reading the script a bunch of times to memorize
** Ryder probably watched the movie.
*** People with learning disabilities can have people read things to them, and can sometimes make up for it in other ways (like having a very good auditory memory).
* How is Jake half-black, half-white, AND half-Jewish? Three halves don't make a whole.
** the white part is the Jewish part
** And Jake saying he was "half-white, half-black, half-Jewish" was a joke, because, as said above, the white and Jewish parts are the same half.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Thanksgiving]]
* Correct me if I'm wrong but... isn't music against the Amish faith? Or did the entire group go gay (as in break away from the religion)?
** They were actually Mennonites. Amish kids don't go to school past eighth grade.
** I must not have caught that, the outfits and the barn raising comment threw me off.
** There are actually several religious groups that are similar to the Amish in lifestyle and culture, but are still distinct: Mennonites, Quakers, Hutterites, etc. It's just that they're all assumed to be Amish at first glance since that's what the general public is most familiar with.
* Does Quinn really think she has learned ANYTHING from her rocky past if she thinks dating a professor who's technically still married is remotely a good idea?
* Does anyone else get the impression that Quinn is lying her ass off through this whole episode? Nevermind the comment about Rachel buying her the train ticket when it was the other way round. She never looks anyone in the eye when she talks, she's constantly fidgeting with her hands. These are tell-tale body language indicators of dishonesty.
** Maybe she flunked out of Yale.
* So Tina gets the lead of Gangnam Style because she's Asian? Last I checked, she was Chinese, and there's no suggestion anywhere that she spoke Korean.
** Tina might not be Korean but Jenna Ushkowitz actually is (she was born in Seoul), so perhaps she was the only cast member who could do a decent job of the words?
*** Jenna doesn't speak Korean. She learned the song the same way as the rest of the crew: phonetically.
** Not sure this is what Rachel meant when she cast Tina as the new her.
** Is there way to win either way? If they had another singer perform lead, people would probably still cry racism. Tina being the lead, stays close to the roots of the song. Also Tina was lead in Season 3 sectionals, so there's precedence anyway without taking race into consideration.
*** If Tina sung a lot of songs for the club, and this one happened to originate from Asia, then this conversation wouldn't be happening. If Rachel was somehow still in the Glee Club and singing Gangnam Style for sectionals, no one would bat an eye. The fact is that they barely use Tina, she's the only Asian in the club, and the rare time when she gets a solo, it's an Asian song. That seems pretty racist to me. (Also, Rachel was disqualified from those sectionals, so it's not like they had a choice. Getting handed the lead not because you earned it, but because the preferred singer isn't available isn't really much of a triumph for Tina.)
*** Um, precisely what other Asian songs have they done on Glee? This is the first that I remember. Meanwhile, non-Asian songs that Tina has sang lead or co-lead on: Tonight (written by a white guy, made famous by a Hispanic woman), True Colors (white woman), Dog Days are Over (white woman), Born This Way (white woman), I Follow Rivers (white woman), ABC (African American boys), My Funny Valentine (performed by an array of people), L-O-V-E (black man). Now I won't argue that Tina's character is under used and not really treated with respect (but then which character is treated with respect anymore) but the idea that they only trot Tina out to miss token Asian Girl is false.
*** But, except for ABC, none of those were competition numbers (and she only got to sing that song because Rachel couldn't.) The whole purpose of the Glee Club is to train and compete (not that Will seems to know/remember. Why are they having assignments of the week and putting on plays?) It seems, to me, that they only let Tina lead in competition when either they have no choice, or the song is Asian. And granted, Tina is a senior this year, and maybe she (and Artie and Brittany) were going to sing more in the setlist, but we'll never know because Marley fainted. But just based on the first song, it's kind of racist to me.
*** It's not annoying just because she's Asian and she happens to lead an Asian song. It's annoying because the writers seem to think Asians are all the same by lumping Koreans and Chinese together. Speaking in terms of nationalities instead of races, Canadians who are told they are the same as Americans will probably be quite cheesed off.
*** Okay, again, it's never been established that Tina is Chinese. Drawing a Chinese symbol doesn't make her Chinese. It just means she's drawing a Chinese symbol. There are plenty of Koreans who understand/speak/read Chinese.
*** Good point. My bad.
** Fair enough, but they could at least have mentioned the difference.
*** Why does Glee need to be more PC than it already is?
*** Umm, being PC is a ''good thing.'' Sure, you run the risk of trying too hard and making people roll their eyes at your over politeness, but that's infinitely better than offending people.
* Unless it's happened this season, which I've admittedly paid less attention to that previous, then they've never established Tina's ethnic background (nor Mike's or Santana's) beyond the very most broad of terms (Asian, Hispanic, etc.). The surname Chang can be Chinese or Korean.
** I think that at Asian club, she was teaching the kids Chinese characters. You are right, however, that she might be something else.
*** Maybe she's half Chinese and half Korean and knows both languages. At least well enough to pronounce song lyrics.
*** Based on her hyphenated last name (''Cohen''-Chang) it's more likely she's half Jewish.
*** It's entirely possible to be all three since having a Jewish last name doesn't necessarily mean that someone is of Hebrew descent.
* I thought that, at a public school at least, you couldn't just say "hey guys let's pray." Especially given reactions from Puck and Blaine. Also, I thought Finn lost his religion.
** You can't have school-sanctioned prayer. If the students decide to from little prayer circles on their own, I don't see anything wrong with that.
*** You might not, but the Supreme Court does. Santa Fe Independent School Dist. v. Doe, ruled that prayer at a school function violates the Establishment Clause. And with people of differing religions in the group, it's also incredibly rude. I was basically forced out of my High School choir because the director gave us nothing but religious music, which made me very uncomfortable to sing. This was a few years before SFID v. Doe.
** If Sam or Joe had initiated this that would work, but it wasn't a student. Finn stated that they were going to pray and then passed the buck onto Joe.
*** Damn, good point. Maybe Finn isn't on the payroll? Or, more likely, Puck and Blaine are right, and Finn is just stupid.
*** Finn isn't on the payroll (he said he'd "do it for free"), and the law prohibits *teachers* from leading prayer during school hours. They are at an evening competition and a former student volunteer asked a student to lead them in prayer. As with the "see you at the pole" prayers, this *isn't* unlawful.
** Most likely it just amounts to "Joe needs something to do on this show."
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Swan Song]]
* Why are they all going separate ways? don't they all still belong to the superhero club? didn't Blaine join dozens of clubs in Kurt's absence? Doesn't Ryder have more than enough to focus on already with his studying?
** with Glee over, they all want to join clubs that perform or compete. Not all of them are in the superhero club Ryder, Jake, Marley, Kitty dressed up because it the week's assignment
* Isn't Sam's "I've always been totally into you" to Brittany seems like a HUGE AssPull? I mean, as far as I remember, he was totally into Quinn, then into Santana, then into Mercedes.
** In season 2's Blame It on Alcohol, Brittany and Sam kiss pretty heavily during spin the bottle. Santana pulls them apart from kissing, then seemingly because she didn't want Sam kissing Brittany. Hindsight, it can be interpreted as she didn't want Brittany kissing Sam. So it didn't come exactly out of nowhere.
** He could have still been attracted to Brittany while dating the other 3 girls.
* So the entire team leaves the stage thus getting themselves DQ'ed from competition, instead of the vastly more logical idea of having one or two people help Marley off-stage and having the show go on? Good team captaining there, Blaine. Somewhere in New York Rachel Berry is judging you.
* The team getting disqualified from Sectionals for leaving the stage. At first it seems perfectly reasonable, since they did break the rule about leaving the stage during a performance. Not even getting into the fact that there's apparently no provision in the Show Choir Rules for medical emergencies (After all, Marley could have been dying for all anyone knew), I went back and compared the lyrics from Psy's version of Gangnam Style to the lyrics of the version they performed and technically, they finished the song before taking Marley off the stage. There's no rule in Sectionals that any club must perform more than one song (in Season 2, The Warblers and another team called The Hipsters both performed only one song, so it must be within the rules.) One could make the argument that their performance was completed, which would mean the rule about not leaving during a performance doesn't apply here.
* Glee's not known for remembering stuff it sets up in previous seasons, and even then, stuff that happens earlier isn't safe to be remembered. Besides, if we apply logic into this scenario, then Tina wouldn't get to pull an incredibly cheap personality turn so Marley can have ''more'' hate pulled on her.
** Either A) we didn't see the other teams' whole performance, or B) a team must perform all of the songs on their submitted set list. Presumably, New Directions had another song or two that they promised to sing (considering that before they went on, Marley was worried that she would personally cost them the win, I'm betting she had a solo or duet coming up.) By leaving the stage after only performing part of their set list, ND forfeited.
*** Indeed, LawOfConservationOfDetail says that we don't see the competition's entire set. At least not until the show got desperate to sell more iTunes downloads and started subjecting us to multiple Warblers songs every time.
*** If that second one is true, than New Directions should have been disqualified from Sectionals back in Season 1. (They performed ''none'' of the songs from their submitted set list, having to change them because the other teams stole them.) Somehow it doesn't seem like the show choir judges who don't make provisions for medical emergencies would be inclined to do so for a stolen set list.
*** Could just be that it's an incomplete set list, not necessarily exactly the one that was submitted. New Directions still sang the total ''number'' of songs that they had submitted -- just different ones. Singing three different songs and only singing one song when you should have been singing three are two different scenarios.

[[folder: Glee, Actually]]
* If Rory is Artie's angel... does that mean he died?
** Nah, probably just means Artie is having one messed up dream. We are talking about a dream world where Artie not having his accident somehow results in the entire universe as he knows it being screwed up. (The bit about Quinn never recovering because he wasn't there to support her made some sense, but the ''entire'' Glee club falling apart just because he never joined it was something of a stretch for me.)
*** Angels are heavenly beings, not dead humans, in Christian theology. The idea that dead people become angels is a popular myth.
* Since I mentioned the whole "Glee club falling apart because of Artie", let's review the list of people whose joining and staying in the club had nothing at all to do with Artie specifically:
** Quinn, Brittany, Santana: Joined to be Sue's spies, stayed because they liked having friends
** Rachel: Joined because she wanted to be a star, stayed cause the members - all of them - are her friends.
** Finn: Joined cause he was blackmailed, stayed cause he thought it was awesome
** Puck: Joined cause Glee actually helped lead his football team to victory, stayed because being with the club taught him to be a man. (His words).
** Kurt: Joined, presumably, because he just liked to perform and stayed cause he liked his friends.
** You know, the list is a long one and I'm not gonna write them all here. You get the idea.
*** Puck, and by extension Matt and Mike, joined because Quinn did. Quinn, and by extension, Brittany and Santana joined because Finn did.
** Without Artie the start of the glee club would have just been Mercedes, Rachel, Tina and Kurt. Rachel nearly quit after the first session because she needed a male lead in the pilot. Perhaps with only three other people in the group maybe Rachel gives up completely in the middle of the first session and never even bothers to force Will to find Finn. Or maybe without Artie being stuck in the toilet near the football field, Finn never gets into the confrontation with Puck and the rest of the football team, he never comes to terms with his (and the school and the town all being losers) and he never joins Glee club after apologizing to the rest of the club. Rachel gives up after Finn never joins. Kurt, Tina and Mercedes soon follow. Which makes Will leave teaching permanently. Glee Club dies in episode 1.
*** Not necessarily. Artie wasn't the only original to be bullied, and wasn't even the one who had it the worst, that honor belongs to Kurt, and Finn could have just as easily joined if he witnessed Kurt being thrown in a dumpster, or any of the girls getting slushied or bullied in another form.
** And also, it was Puck's idea for Kurt to spy on the Dalton Academy Warblers. Without that, Kurt and Blaine would have never met.
** The FridgeBrilliance hit me like a ton of bricks this morning: Artie is dreaming all this up, so it's entirely possible that what we see represents a slightly biased version of what would happen in this scenario.
** they played it up as Artie's dream, not an exact alternate reality.
** [[SarcasmMode Thank you very much for reiterating the point I just made.]]
** not really, I'll elaborate. Comparing the glee real in-universe to the walking Artie universe isn't valid because the walking Artie universe isn't an Alternate reality. For instance in Back to the Future, old biff steals the Delorean and gives young biff the almanac and create an alternate reality where biff is rich and rules the world. This is specifically not the case in Glee Actually. It's Artie's dream and dreams can be BigLippedAlligatorMoment. The dream in this episode is based on an old movie called "It's a Wonderful Life", right down to the bell ringing as Finn wheels Artie out of the clinic.
* Why does Millie have to save all her money for a therapist for Marley? Is [=McKinley=] so cheap that non-teaching staff don't have medical benefits?
** Perhaps they're on an HMO that doesn't cover such a specialized psychologist... Or their insurance might only cover simple things like antidepressant prescriptions while not covering intense counseling sessions which is what Marley really needs.
** "Intense" is a strong word when it comes to mental health. What Marley needs is a psychologist to talk her through her eating disorder, which is a common enough problem that any adolescent psychologist would be able to help her.
** For that matter, when exactly did Kitty's tricking of Marley into throwing up a few times turn into a full-blown eating disorder? I don't remember when or even if it became clear that Marley needed a therapist. And another thing, all this purging trouble is Kitty's fault. When is she going to get her comeuppance?
*** She threw up enough times to be unhealthy enough to faint onstage. And she had very low self-esteem before hand, which, even if it never manifested itself in bulimia, could be dangerous. Marley also has some pretty unhealthy feelings towards fat.
*** Not to mention that Brittany just gave Marley a rolex, which is about 25 grand. How many therapy appointments can that pay for?
*** You believe Britney the girl who thought seeing a stork meant she was pregnant gave Marley a real rolex?
*** Regarding the question about Kitty, she may not get any comeuppance at all. Given Glee's [[RousseauWasRight usual stance]] on human morality, it seems likely that she'll make a HeelFaceTurn at some point.
* Was it supposed to be a joke that Beiste thinks that all the Mayans were wiped out by the Conquistadors, or did the writers not know that, a) there are still Mayans alive today and, b) The Conquistadors attacked the ''Aztecs''. I also believe that the Mayans were The Conquistadors' allies, but I could be confusing them with another group.
** Or it could be just ''Beiste'' making a mistake. Glee characters, like real world people, aren't omniscient, and to a lot of people Mayas and Aztecs are all just a jumble of Central American peoples a few hundred years ago who got all wiped out by Europeans. It's a quite plausible mistake for a person in her early forties whose job doesn't exactly require knowledge of world history to make. I don't know how much American schools teach about this period of history, but I graduated Finnish high school three years ago (with top grades, although with emphasis on natural sciences), and I really didn't notice this mistake. People forget this kind of stuff, if they ever learned it in the first place. (Or it could really be the writers' mistake.)
** While it is an honest mistake, Glee isn't particularly know for accuracy in terms of... well, anything.
** Also, the Conquistadors didn't just go after the Aztecs. "Conquistador" is a general term for the Spanish travelers who conquered the indigenous populations. Cortez is just one of them. Pizarro, who attacked the Incas, is another. Montejo, Alvarado and de Landa, who took part in the conquest of the Yucatan, are discussed on the Other Wiki.
* Is it just me or do Marley and her mom live in a surprisingly nice, large house, seeing as much is made on the show of their poverty?
** The house could have been a foreclosure that Millie bought through HUD or the bank for around $20,000, especially if it's not in a desirable neighborhood.
** Or she could be renting.
** We're shown, what, two rooms? From that you get "large?" It looks more like a townhouse to me which really aren't that big and as pointed out above, they're probably renting.
** It might just be the fact that the house has two stories instead of being a rusty trailer. But in Ohio you really can get a house like that for insanely cheap if you don't mind living in a rough part of town.
* Jake and Puck both got tattoos of the star of David... aren't they both Jewish? (then again, Puck ate sweet and sour pork in S1)
** As with any religion, not all Jews follow the tenets of their faith to the letter. Folk rocker Eric Himan and his tattoo sleeves (and open homosexuality) come to mind. Neither Puck nor Jacob is observant and by religious law, Jacob's *mother* must be Jewish to make him a Jew. We've seen no sign of this, nor of Jacob's conversion. Having a Jewish father does not make you a Jew.
** Also Puck stated that eating Chinese food was part of their Christmas/Hanukkah tradition, which actually ''is'' a fairly common practice among American Jews (along with going out to the movies on Christmas Day). There is apparently an unspoken rule that it's perfectly acceptable to break kosher as long as it's Christmas and Asians cook it.
** It's also an inside joke. Judaism forbids getting tattoos, to the point where some Orthodox Jewish cemeteries have not let in Holocaust survivors who have tattoos from the camps. So getting a tattoo of the Star of David is kind of like making one out of bacon and lobster, topped with Alfredo sauce.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Sadie Hawkins]]
* If the Warblers's win was overturned, shouldn't the Rosedale Mennonites be moving forward? You know, since New Directions was disqualified.
** Yes, yes they should. But it's Glee...
** It was never actually officially stated New Directions was disqualified. In that episode, Sue only announced that the Warblers beat New Directions. New Directions could have came in second place.
*** {{Jossed}} (in a sense). When the plot hole was brought up on Twitter, instead of using this explanation, [[WordOfGod Ryan Murphy]] responded more along the lines of "Yeah, but it's a TV show so get over it."
*** An in-universe explanation could be that the Show Choir Committee may have received a few angry phone calls (at least from Finn, Will and Emma, and possibly some parents of the ND kids) that the club was disqualified because of a medical emergency, and putting the club back in the running was just their way of getting people off their backs. It actually wouldn't be surprising if Sue had a word with the committee, knowing her love/hate relationship with Will and ND and the so-called 'empty feeling' she experienced after the club was disbanded.
* Why didn't Brody just call Rachel when his train was running late? You know, to avoid the exact scenario that happened where she thought he stood her up.
** He probably has an iPhone and ''really'' shitty reception.
** Also, he was underground at the time. Not the best place to receive any sort of signal.
*** Unless the train dropped him off directly outside the door to Rachel and Kurt's apartment, then he had time to call/text.
*** Unless he was running to her door as fast as he could, maybe taking time to buy those flowers to apologize.
*** Well, see I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and saying that he bought the flowers before he got on the train. Because if he stopped for flowers then he could have taken ten seconds to send a text message. There's no excuse for him not to have sent a message even if he was only a couple of minutes from being there.
*** A huge bouquet like that on the train is just asking for trouble, especially on a crowded subway where they could get damaged, and if he were only a few minutes from her door after getting off why stop to text? Texting and walking on busy streets is a bad idea.
*** Well he presumably had to stop walking long enough to pay for the flowers. It would have taken less than thirty seconds to send a text message. And given what we know about him as of "I Do" he was probably lying about the train getting stuck anyway.
* Kurt's assessment of college seemed...off. At least in my experience, it was the exact ''opposite'' of high school. It was apparent to me from day one that there was no social hierarchy; everyone is too busy doing their own thing to worry about yours. Maybe things are different for a small, highly-selective private college compared to a massive state university?
** Also keep in mind that it's a performing arts school.
** That would just make an even larger gap from high school. The smaller student population, the fact that everyone would be physically exhausted more than half the time, and the fact that they call came there to study similar passions of theirs would basically ensure against the formation of any strong cliques. Then again, Glee already completely over-exaggerates the existence of a social hierarchy in high school, so this really should come as no surprise.
** I can see cliques forming along the lines of majors: the dancers, the actors, the singers, the show choir, etc., but like the above troper said, they're all similar enough in background that there's no reason to think one group would look down on another.
*** It's probably ''why'' different cliques form and occasionally look down on one another. In high school they were the ostracized and weird kids, now they rule the roost and look down on students in other groups because they can.
*** Sadly TruthInTelevision.
* Does Tina not realize Blaine is gay? Just what is she expecting here other than disappointment?
** She was probably hoping that a) he was bisexual, and b) that he would at least go with her as her friend.
*** B is a fair point, but A was already addressed ''way'' back in season 2's "Blame it on the Alcohol." Blaine starts questioning his sexuality and tries going on a date with Rachel to see if he might be bi but upon kissing her concludes "I'm gay. ''Definitely'' gay." It's not something that's really up for discussion.
*** Was Tina privy to that conversation? Perhaps for all Tina knows, Blaine once dated Rachel and for whatever reason, things didn't work out. Don't forget, we the audience know a lot of things that many of the characters do not.
*** Just adding my two cents here- Blaine tends to be overly affectionate with his friends. He says things like "Where have you been all my life?" and from his viewpoint, it's completely platonic. Tina might have interpreted it the wrong way and thought there was something there. Also, who has Tina been talking to since Mike and co. graduated? She might just be lonely and deluding herself into latching onto Blaine because he's the first person in a while to be this kind to her.
* Why was Sugar in the "Too Young to be Bitter" club when she knew Artie wanted to date her? Granted, this is the first time ''in the whole season'' she's had anything to do, but she was never against the idea of dating him in the first place and ended up getting with him at the end anyway, so why didn't she just ask him out?
** It's hardly a secret that Sugar is kind of stupid. And she might just like being in clubs for the attention.
* Did the girls really never think of asking guys to a dance before? I can understand this being an issue back when Coach Beiste was in high school, but modern schools are a bit more socially progressive than that.
** Ehhh...it's sadly still drilled into a lot of girls' heads that the guy should make all the first moves. I went to high school in the early 2000's and we still did Sadie Hawkins dances.
** There's a reason that {{Hatedom}} calls the show [=MisogyGlee=].
* Isn't Puck over 18? How old is Kitty supposed to be? That's pushing some statutory rape laws.
** The age of consent is 16 in Ohio, and Kitty may or not be 16. However, in most TV shows the age of consent is 18 [[HollywoodProvincialism regardless of where the show takes place.]]
*** In Season 2, the guy Blaine was into rejected him, citing Blaine's age (16 or 17, probably) and statutory rape laws as the reason (granted, this may have just been an excuse, and Blaine's age has been pretty thoroughly debated so it's possible he was 15 at the time).
*** Statutory rape laws are also (sadly) much tougher on gay couples than on straight couples. Most states have "Romeo and Juliet" laws that basically say it's not statutory rape if it's consensual and there's a 2-year age difference or less, so if Kitty was 16 or 17 and Puck was 18 or 19, there wouldn't be a problem. However, 18 is the hard limit for gay sex, and in fact in some places you're underage for gay sex until you're ''21''. Regardless of whatever feelings Jeremiah had, he was right to be worried, since that sort of thing would be prosecuted ''much'' more harshly than Puck/Kitty, if the latter was ever prosecuted at all.
** In the 'Baby Got Back'' cover, the lyrics sung go "Johnny C's in trouble" for no reason. Who's Johnny C? They don't say.
*** That would be because the song is the acoustic rock cover done by Music/JonathanCoulton, despite him not being credited in any way.
*** In universe, Adam was probably on Website/YouTube, seen the video, and decided to get the Apples to do it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Naked]]
* Isn't it quite a bit worse to say that you'll do a nude scene and then leave in the middle of a shoot, than to buck up and fulfill the moderately embarrassing shot you said you would do? From a future professional standpoint?
** The keyword there is future. Right now she's an 18 year old kid, a freshman in college, and she's an unpaid performer. I seriously doubt anyone is going to hold it against her for not wanting to get naked in some lame student film.
*** A small thing and I apologize if this is nattering, but at what age is someone no longer considered a kid? (35) Will Rachel be referred to as a 20 year old kid? 24?
*** There's a reason people between 18-25 are often referred to as "kids" despite being legal adults. During that time you're still learning about yourself and what your limits are as you transition from minor to adult. Rachel is still figuring things out, and she was right to turn down a topless scene until she's sure she wants to do it and isn't just buckling under pressure.
*** Indeed, there's a difference between legal adulthood and emotional maturity. Some people are emotionally mature at 12, while others don't reach it even into their 30's and beyond (just look at all the cheap shots Ryan Murphy takes on Twitter). Rachel is legally an adult but she still hasn't grown up. She still acts rather impulsively a lot of the time. She seems to currently be playing the part of "College Girl Rachel" rather than just being herself.
* Why were the Blam shots cut? They removed the gay crush storyline but kept the straight crush. That's a frightening choice to make when one considers how new socially acceptable gay crushes are.
** They already did the "gay boy has crush on straight boy with tragic results" storyline with Kurt and Finn. The only difference is that Blaine and Sam have had better chemistry in half a season than Finn and Kurt had ''in the whole series''; it would be stupid to suddenly make things awkward by having Blaine spill his heart to Sam while knowing it would go nowhere. When you're gay, developing feelings for a straight friend is all but inevitable, and you just have to let it go because nothing good ever comes out of professing your love to someone who can't love you back.
** And they've already done the "girl dates gay guy thing' and 'the "normal" guy/girl has a crush on the "normal" girl/guy plot' and 'the ingenue likes the jock who likes the AlphaBitch plot' and 'the token character dates the other taken character of the same variety plot'. What's your point?
** You make it sound like recycling plots is a good thing.
** It's not a good thing but it is common on Glee. Even the Rachel-nude scene plot is really just the nose job story from "Born This Way" redressed. So it does seem odd that they'd drop a storyline just because it's recycled, at this point. They've been living on recycled plots all season. Why did they suddenly stop now?
** Blaine and Sam ''did'' have several close moments in the episode. It seems to me that Blaine wisely chose not to proposition Sam because he respects him as a friend and knew it wouldn't go anywhere anyway. Why is it that the few times someone on the show decides to be a decent person, it ends up on Headscratchers?
** Because it doesn't make sense within the context of the show
** Were there actual scenes cut, or did it just seem that way? Because, as the above troper pointed out, they did have their moments. Even from a non-shipping standpoint, Blaine was worried about Sam and they hugged at the end.
** Blaine always seemed way more grounded than Kurt ever was to me. It makes sense for Kurt to tell Finn how he felt since he would be more likely to hope that Finn would feel the same. Blaine knows Sam cares a lot about Britney and the chances of him being gay or bi are really low. Therefore I don't think he would tell him since he knows it will likely make Sam uncomfortable (look at the comments he made about Kurt in an earlier episode) and it's not like Sam will feel the same
* Quinn wants Santana to apologize for slapping her in the face and yet Quinn slapped her first.
** That was most likely just a throwaway joke.
* Has anyone on the creative team ever been to college? This is ''yet another'' example of something they got wrong about the whole process. Sam getting into a school with no money and low SAT scores would not be nearly as difficult as they're making it out to be. Within Ohio, you've got the University of Akron, Youngstown State, University of Dayton, Shawnee State, and any community college, that all have open admission. Plus you can get grants and--if you don't mind selling your soul--student loans to pay for college rather than putting all your hopes into a scholarship.
** Glee lives on RuleOfDrama. Not saying that's a good thing but it is a true thing.
* What was up with the new anchor's tantrum in the beginning? An entire school club taking drugs to cheat in a competition would be a HUGE scandal in the real world. Not just for the club but for the school as a whole.
** To give a graduated glee clubber a job in Ohio
** You need at least a four-year Journalism degree to be a TV reporter.
** In the real world, sure, but it's Glee. In Glee world a degree in accounting will get you a job teaching Spanish and another as a history teacher. Schools' entire arts programs are run by people with absolutely no formal training whatsoever, people who flunked out of their first semester of college and others who washed out of the army after only two weeks.
*** The last one isn't as far fetched as you'd think as the Glee club is an extracurricular and in many schools the only hard and fast requirement is having a legal adult there to supervise, faculty and otherwise. Finn isn't being paid for his time which, as it was explained when he took over running the glee club, is actually a pretty sweet deal for the school since a faculty member would (presumably) have to be compensated for the extra hours they put in after school.
*** Through the first three seasons, I wouldn't doubt that explanation a bit but now, remember that they are the defending national champions. They've brought money and prestige into the school and I somehow doubt that the school board wants either of those to go away in just a year.
*** True, but Finn isn't just some random idiot off the street. He was the leader of the club for that national championship.
*** But he had little to nothing to do with that success other than being the male lead. Also he clearly knows nothing about running a show choir, his leadership skills are spotty at the best of times, and such things would be immediately obvious in any sort of job interview. And yes, I'm aware the same could be said of Will, but he wasn't hired to do the job in Glee's glory days like Finn was.
* How on earth did Finn get this calendar past Figgins?
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Diva]]
* The most important person to Blaine is Tina? What about Sam? You know, his best friend, vice-president and crush?
** Tina takes care of Blaine and is probably the person he spends the most time with.
* Why does Blaine owe Tina an apology again? Her cold kit was given to him completely unsolicited and what's more, he ''was'' grateful to her for her help. In fact the whole reason he invited her over to help find her "inner diva" was to thank her for taking care of him while he was sick. I'd thing Tina is the one who owes him an apology for going crazy on him and, oh, I don't know, ''stalking him''.
** On top of this, why does Blaine think it's a good idea to be Tina's date. He knows that he's gay and has a crush on another guy. Right now he's just fueling Tina's hope and obsession, after she had been overbearing and rude to him.
*** This is Blaine though. He has always been so oblivious to when people like him. The boy needs a neon sign! He had no idea about Kurt's affections and he didn't see Sebastian's either.
*** Also, it's common knowledge that he's gay. He can be forgiven for assuming that girls aren't going to think they have a chance with him. Inviting her to the dance was ''dumb'', but he clearly didn't realize he was fueling her obsession, as he misinterpreted her anger. He simply thought she was mad at him for not being an attentive enough friend, so from his (admittedly foolish) perspective, spending time with her at the dance would be a good idea. Although this doesn't truly explain why Blaine was the one to apologize to Tina and not the other way round, as even from a friendship perspective he had done nothing wrong whereas she'd behaved pretty badly. It's possible he simply saw how upset she was and just decided to say he was sorry rather than fight with her, as he didn't want to lose her friendship? Otherwise it's just another example of the Glee writers making one character behave like a jerk and having the other person randomly apologize for it.
*** My theory is that Blaine doesn't actually know what he did. He probably figured out from Tina's rant what she was upset about, and therefore assumed he did that thing. (As would be the case with most rational people.)
* So wait, at the beginning of the year the Cardinals are so busy that Santana can barely keep up with Brittany... and yet four can just go off to Lima in the middle of FEBRUARY?! I'm not sure if the Cardinals are still in the SEC, but I'm pretty sure that they would be playing road games constantly if they were as would be their cheerleaders.
* What motivated the Cardinals to go to Lima with Santana anyway? She DROPPED OUT.
** Maybe those four girls in particular are friends of hers and did it as a favor?
*** Or she paid them off like the girl who said she was her girlfriend.
*** That one may have needed ''extra'' convincing.
* Does Tina even know what an [[Theatre/HedwigAndTheAngryInch Angry Inch]] is or was that the only transgender movie she could think of? Because anyone who had seen the movie would tell you that Wade/Unique sure as hell doesn't have one.
** She could have meant it metaphorically.
*** Or she could be channeling Santana
* Exactly how big is Rachel and Kurt's apartment supposed to be? Big enough for four people to live in comfortably? If so, how on Earth could they afford it by themselves for so long?
** I could be wrong, but I think the reason the apartment is so cheap is because it's in a relatively nasty part of town. Plus it's not unheard of for parents to foot many first-year university students' bills. Between Rachel's two rich dads and Burt's seemingly successful business, it might not be too much trouble.
*** It's never been established that Rachel's dads are rich. Their house is well appointed, sure, but that can be done on a budget. Burt may do well by Lima, Ohio standards but that is nothing by New York standards. You can make mortgage payments on a nice sized house in Ohio for what you can rent a tiny apartment for in New York... even if the place is supposed to be in Brooklyn or Queens or wherever.
** Apartment space can be stretched. For example, my apartment technically only has two bedrooms, but I have three roommates because we converted a storage room into a third bedroom, and the dining room into a fourth. And since Brody is presumably sleeping with Rachel, they'd only have to carve out a third room for Santana.
* Wait wait wait...since when has Finn had the hots for Emma? That kind of came out of nowhere, show.
** Yeah. I just think that's sloppy writing.
** Ever since coming back to Lima, Finn's been slowly turning himself into Will, so... Yeah, it's a complete AssPull and has absolutely no basis of logic. Glee's ever present RuleOfDrama in full effect.
*** That part of the episode actually made sense to me. Finn had been dating the emotional, melodramatic, ingenue for two and half years, he's used to solving panics with the shut up kiss. The situation with Emma sparked the impulse.
*** I saw the signs that Finn and Emma would have a moment all throughout the episode, but I didn't seriously think that the writers would go through with it. When Emma started her freakout of course, I knew that something would happen, but I was so sure that Finn would just hug her. It seems to me that the writers are just trying to pull drama out of wherever they can, no matter how little sense it might make.
* This may be a cultural thing, although what culture that might be is far from clear to me, but is the modern version of "diva" suddenly a good thing? So far, I've ONLY heard it used in the classical sense (talented female with no undertones of attitude), a purely derogatory sense (analogous the word "bitch", which as Blaine pointed out for diva can and does also apply to guys), or a RefugeInAudacity excuse for bad behavior (as in, "I acknowledge that I'm acting in a highly inappropriate manner, but in acknowledging so I also assert that you are unable to change my behavior")? For the final use, there seems to sometimes be a measure of BunnyEarsLawyer implied (as in, the inappropriate behavior will be tolerated because of performance ability), but many times in this episode and a few times in other productions I've recently been seeing the cattiness aspect treated as the objective of being a "diva", with the talent as, how might it be said, comorbid rather than causal. Is this the same sort of thing the phrase "empowered woman" went through a few years ago? Is it pretty widespread, or is it just another thing the Glee writers exaggerated for the purpose of moving an episode along?
** It's pretty widespread. You need some amount of cocky "diva" attitude to do well on a stage or in a performance career under any circumstances.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: I Do]]
* Since when can only single women catch the bouquet? The only rule I've ever heard is that you can't be married.
** Every wedding I have been to has had the single women catching the bouquet, and the single men catching the bridal garter.
** OP is right, the tradition is that unmarried women catch the bouquet. The thing about them being completely single was just thrown in to jumpstart that conversation between Finn and Rachel.
*** Actually the tradition varies from one area to another and even within families. The only real hard and fast rules are that it must be unmarried women. Other than that it can be ''all'' the unmarried women (i.e. women who are engaged or in a relationship but are not yet married) with the single girls or ''just'' the single women
* Finn and Rachel agreed to a hotel room, knew what was likely to happen in it, and didn't think to buy a box of condoms?
** Condoms don't work all the time. Also, pregnancy tests can't tell you if you are pregnant the day after you sleep with someone. If Rachel tests positive the day after she slept with Finn, then the baby can't be his.
*** Yes, in the real world, but this is Glee. In Glee World, you can determine the gender of a baby after only a couple of weeks, long before a real world baby would even have genitalia.
*** Not really. That was just something Terri said because she's stupid and Will believed because he's stupid.
*** But they did (accurately) determine the gender of Quinn's baby far too early in the pregnancy. And IIRC, Sue's too.
** It wasn't the next day. Rachel looking through her planner implies that days or weeks go by and she's not getting her period. Montages in Glee don't happen in real time.
*** I took that to be her looking back to see when her last period was. Double checking that she was indeed late. Montages do time skip, but they don't usually jump ahead ''weeks''.
* Betty is a little problematic. Wasn't it strongly implied earlier that Emma was an only child? And isn't Artie dating Sugar in a relationship that ''doesn't'' reek of TokenMinorityCouple?
** Emma mentioned having a brother in Showmance.
** Artie and Sugar have been on-and-off since the beginning of the season. She stated dating him after the Student President elections but ditched him (along with the rest of the glee club) when they lost sectionals only to start dating him again at the Sadie Hawkins dance. It's probable that she just dumped him again.
* Quinn and Santana hooking up in what can be described as ultra hard Fan Service (see GirlOnGirlIsHot). Yes, a general theme of the episode was that people were having sex left, right, and center, but Quinn had previously shown no interest in girls. To be fair, Quinn does state that although she enjoyed it, she sees it as a one time thing. However, they agree to have sex again, so this partially averted.
** There's no such thing as "partial" aversion. Either something is averted or it isn't. In this case, it isn't. "One time" meant over the course of the night rather than a single act of intercourse. Quinn isn't about to enter a relationship with Santana, and doesn't sound likely to explore dating women, hence it being a "one-time" thing.
** I'm confused as to when Quinn was shown to have an interest in ''men''. I mean, sure she's dated a few and slept with at least one, but she's never cared about any of them or at least never actually ''expressed'' any care about them. It was always about what they can give her. Finn and Sam were about being popular and being prom queen. Puck and Joe (if you can even count him) were about not being alone during bad times. There's a pretty well supported theory that Quinn is and always has been [[ArmoredClosetGay a deeply repressed lesbian]] and this is her first baby step out of the closet. She's still not comfortable enough to come all the way out and say that she's gay (or bi or however she may or may not chose to identify in the future) but she can explore a little with a friend.
*** Wait, if dating a few and sleeping with at least one man doesn't count as showing an interest in men, then what does? I'm not saying it's *impossible* that she's lost in Narnia, but not having more than a passing affection (which in itself is debatable) for any of your boyfriends by age 18 does not necessarily mean you're a lesbian. Plus, if she does come out, that would push the show's incidence of major characters identifying as LGBT at over 20%, more than triple the actual incidence in the population of people aged 18-29 (admittedly that's a bit older than the actual age group on the show, but it was the closest statistic I could find) which is really starting to get excessive.
*** Wait, in a time were queer representation in media is few and far between, especially in such a way that shows it as normal and okay, you're complaining that there may be more than four queer cast members in the same show (five, if you still count Karofsky as a cast member)?
*** There's a huge difference between dating someone and caring about them. For instance, Santana dated Sam. Does anyone think she actually had any romantic feelings for him? Compare Quinn in a relationship with any of the guys she dated with Rachel or Tina or Mercedes and the people they dated. Quinn's every interaction with Finn was either about their status at school, about her baby, or them fighting about Rachel. There were virtually no tender moments between them and none that I recall initiated by Quinn, just her variously manipulating him and insulting him. She spent three years calling Puck a mistake. Sam, within the "Quinn is Gay" theory, Sam is the guy she tried very hard to like and couldn't muster more than friendship. Caring about someone entails taking an interest in them, not just what they can do for you. From what we've been presented, Quinn doesn't or just can't seem to muster any interest in guys, but is quite capable of taking an interest in girls. It's not proof but it's strong evidence. As for the percentages, you're talking about a cross section of the population, if you break it down into individual demographics the incidence rates vary wildly. For instance, you'll likely find a very low LGBT population among nuns. Studies show that LGBT kids/young adults tend to be over represented in music and the arts.
*** Quinn must have felt attraction for Finn on some level given that she cheating on Sam with him. Don't forget that those three years of calling Puck a mistake was because she was trying to A) Deny her attraction to him, B) Make herself look less guilty for cheating on Finn, or C) Cover up and distance herself from the pain of giving away Beth to a woman who was coaching rival glee clubs for most of the time Quinn knew her. Sam ''was'' merely for the popularity factor, but as mentioned above she did honestly try to care about him. He's just too much of a dork to be truly attractive to her.
*** Or she spent most of season two trying to pretend that season one didn't happen and getting back with Finn and winning Prom Queen would just solidify that for her and as Santana would later point out, Sam didn't have the social clout to get anyone elected Prom Queen. And also possibly because Sam got way too serious, way too quickly, giving her a promise ring after only a month. Denying sexual attraction to Puck? Again, when has she demonstrated any attraction to him? They had sex once, after he got her drunk and took advantage of her. That doesn't equate to sexual attraction. She never denies or tries to tries to downplay what she did with Puck so that seems to be a reach. They never dated and after Beth was born when he told her that he loves her, she very pointedly didn't say it back. It seems far more likely that despite what she said in [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment her speech to him in "Goodbye"]] she really doesn't like Puck all that much. He was just a convenience in a difficult time. Again there's little to no compassion or tenderness between her and the guys she dates when you compare how she was with Mercedes when she's starving herself or how she is with Rachel during the engagement storyline.
*** Did you even ''watch'' the show? In season one, after giving birth to Beth she flat-out asks Puck if he ever loved her, in season two when she first starts dating Sam she does make a concentrated effort to like him beyond simple popularity and accepts his promise ring but still ends up making out with Finn behind his back (which had ''nothing to do with popularity'' because both Finn and Sam were on pretty equal footing at that time) because of their history and attraction to him. She very obviously has feelings for Joe towards the end of season three but ends up breaking it off because she's going off to college and long-distance relationships rarely work. It's true that Quinn might indeed be bisexual and just never realized it, but don't go claiming that she never cared about or wasn't sexually interested in any of the guys she dated just to fuel your own little lesbian fantasies.
*** Wow, can we not be dismissive and catty about the importance of having queer people on TV? That was a really hurtful thing to say when a lot of the people supporting this theory are queer ladies who want more queer ladies around, please try to avoid it in the future.
*** Guess what? ''Quinn being attracted to men does not make her less queer'', if indeed she is also attracted to women as opposed to drunk and lonely. Bisexual ladies are queer ladies too. Stop it with the bisexual erasure.
*** Not trying to erase anything. I just wanted someone to point out some place in the show when Quinn was shown to be actually interested in men, rather than just using them.
*** Which they did. Several times. You just ignored it.
*** People cheat for a myriad of reasons, not all of which have anything to do with sexual attraction. Depressed people (and you'd be hard pressed to argue that Quinn wasn't depressed) will sabotage their own lives to prove themselves right in their depressed outlook. Sam and Finn were not on equal footing popularity-wise. Finn was not only the starting quarterback of the football team but the MVP of the state championship game. He set up a kissing booth and got ''every'' girl in school to kiss him. There's not one thing in the whole run of the show to suggest that Sam is anywhere near that popular. Sam was popular because he was dating Quinn and because he was friends with Finn. Yes, she did ask Puck if he ever loved her and when he said yes, she never said it back. As for Joe, YMMV I guess but it all looked one sided on his part to me. The show never established that they were dating, only that he thought that he might want to date her, they sang a duet together, and then that was sort of the last of it.
*** Why are we talking as though Quinn being attracted to Santana suddenly means that she couldn't possibly have been attracted to Puck, Finn, or Sam? It's called bisexuality. It exists. It is a thing. ''You can be attracted to both men and women at the same time.'' Quinn does not have to be a closet lesbian to sleep with a girl. She just has to be ''attracted to girls'', which does not preclude also being attracted to guys. This is not hard.
* Remember when Will was the main character? In his own wedding episode he might have had four minutes of screen-time and six lines. After getting left at the altar, the Glee kids proceed to party and be merry. Aside from Finn, nobody at the reception seems to stop to say "Poor Mr. Schue".
** To be fair, he did explicitly state to Santana that he wanted the reception to go on and that the kids (who have come from all over the country) should still enjoy their Valentine's Day even though his is ruined. Still, you would think that the reception would have a more somber tone. IMO, this should have been a double-episode so that we could focus more on the actual couple while still having time for hookup hi-jinks.
* "We've Got Tonight"? Thematically it fit the episode pretty well, but wasn't it supposed to be what Finn was singing in lieu of giving a toast as the best man? Because that doesn't seem like the kind of song I would want my best friend singing to honor my marriage.
** Well since the wedding didn't go through, Finn and Rachel may have decided to change songs.
* So Betty and Artie hook up and they have a good laugh that they each "don't know" if it was good or not...even though Artie made a point of saying way back that his penis still works, which would make one think he has feeling in it and also that sex means quite a lot to him (so it's a little weird for him to jump into what could have been a one night stand). I'm assuming that their "best I ever had" convo later means they were joking with each other in the hotel room, but still. That initial scene made no sense from what we know about the extent of Artie's paralysis.
* Maybe it was a lie but Betty is the head cheerleader of her high school?
** Why not? Artie was on the football team at his high school.
* Where was Beiste? Even if the reason is a meta one, I'd really like to know how the writers planned this episode and didn't include Shannon Beiste as present to witness the wedding of two of her best friends.

[[folder:Girls (and Boys) on Film]]
* How is "Diamonds Are Girl's Best Friend" from Moulin Rouge a mashup of movie songs? Or a mashup at all? Last I checked, one line does not a mashup make. Girls, you didn't even do the assignment! You LOST! You know what would have been awesome if they wanted to keep Moulin Rouge and do an actual mashup with a theme? "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Let Me Entertain You" from Gypsy. Bam, classy sex worker from the past movie mashup.
** Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend was originally a movie song by way of the Marilyn Monroe film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The Glee girls combined it with Madonna's Material Girl. Voila, a mash-up. (The Moulin Rouge version has a little bit of Material Girl in it, but that's neither here nor there.)
*** The Glee version is actually absolutely the same as the Moulin Rouge "mashup" with that one verse of Material girl Baz Luhrmann's film already added. Even their inflexions while singing are the same as Satine's. I agree with the OP, this is a scam !
* Why does Marley continue to trust Kitty, especially when she just admitted, "Oh yeah, I made you have your eating disorder!"? She just has a weird look on her face, shrugs it off and tells her another secret.
** Not that it makes your point less valid, but Kitty ''didn't'' actually admit to having caused Marley's eating disorder. She just admitted to insulting her in various ways. (One of which admittedly did involve her weight.) She left out the part about having altered Marley's play costume. To actually answer your question, [[TheIngenue Marley's just like that.]] She believes the best of everyone, so when Kitty apologized to her, she naturally accepted that Kitty was trying to make amends.
* It's Season Four; can we for once hear who won the damn Mash-Up competition?! I know who I assume won (Boys, Girls, Troubletones, Boys), but it would be nice to actually have confirmation on this.
** Season 1 the boys won. Rachel comments in Season 2 that the boys won last year.
** I don't think it really needed saying that the girls won in Season 2 nor The Troubletones in Season 3. Some things don't need to be stated to be obvious. Ultimately, I don't think it matters all that much since there's no actual prize for winning. The point of the competition is to drive creativity, to get them to really put themselves out there and see what they can come up. Winning is sort of just about bragging rights.

* How is Blaine going to get the money to pay for NYADA now that his and his parents' credit is ruined?
** Scholarships... or maybe he'll become a drug dealer.
** Maybe Cooper's credit score website will help them out.
* Why on earth does Blaine go along with Sue's whole singing duel idea? Why doesn't he, y'know, ''sue her?''
** Better question, why didn't the Anderson's pool what's left of their money and hire someone to "shoot her?"
* Related to the above: Was the whole identity theft thing supposed to be a joke? We all know that Glee is often unrealistically overdramatic, putting little jokes in that we're probably not supposed to take seriously. Santana's "Mexican third eye" powers, for one thing; I hate to [[DontExplainTheJoke explain the joke]] but we know it's just Glee's particular brand of screwing with us. And I for one enjoy it; it's got almost a Far Side-esque quality to it. But the thing is, here we are debating Blaine's throwaway line about his family's credit being ruined. Is it supposed to be a joke? Are we taking it too seriously? This is a world where a 19 year old kid can be a thirty-something man's best friend and best man. Is it also a world where a high school cheerleading coach can ruin a family's financial life and get off scott free? Does Sue really have David Boreanaz in her black book? In short, is there a way to tell when the writers are having a laugh with their [[RefugeInAudacity absurdity]] and when they're being serious?
** I think the line happens when a character runs into your office screaming about it, Blaine at that moment isn't the type to say "that's cool sue, yeah, when I confront you tomorrow I'll totally say that so anyone listening in goes buhh?"
* What was the point of the Blaine/Sue sing off anyway? If Blaine really did want to join the cheerios to take Sue down, why didn't he just give in when she showed him the contract, thus preventing the whole family credit fiasco? Or did he decide to take her down because she ruined his families credit?
** Sue might have been suspicious that Blaine the crusader, class president, and head of the Superhero Club, just gave up without a fight so he was essentially putting a show on for her to make her think she'd won.
* Are we supposed to be on Finn's side when he goes into a near psychopathic rage beating his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend to a pulp and destroying half the room doing it? Because I have to be honest with you, over the last few episodes Finn has seemed completely unhinged when it comes to his relationship with Rachel. Are they really trying to destroy any possibility of Finchel or is this supposed to be seen as some sort of positive thing?
** [[OneTrueLove True Love]] [[SarcasmMode will overcome attempted blackmail and assault.]]
** Brody threw the first punch and Finn reacted, and even after being knocked flat on his ass he still kept going after Finn who continued to defend himself. It's not Finn's fault he's basically a giant who is bigger and stronger than most guys.
*** Yeah, except it was Finn who threw the first punch.
*** You need to watch that scene again, Brody is the one who makes it physical.
*** Brody may have thrown the first punch, but Finn beat the crap out of him while tearing up the room. He didn't need to take it that far. His behavior was frightening.
*** Who threw the first punch is a matter of technicality, Finn flew to New York with the express purpose of intimidating Brody into leaving Rachel and once it devolved into fisticuffs (as he had to know it most likely would) he demolished most of the room while doing it. In the real world, he'd be looking at a felony assault charge, not to mention the destruction of property stuff as well and some real jail time (As in years). In Glee World, he's undoubtedly be hailed as a hero and brave and wonderful and that other non-sense.
*** Didn't anyone bother to go back and re-watch? Brody grabbed Finn's jacket to stop him from leaving, but it was Finn who threw the first punch.
** A better question is if we're supposed to be going "Aww" when Finn calls Rachel his future wife. Possessive much?
** They're ''both'' assholes, Brody is sleeping around on his girlfriend for cash and Finn is flying to New York to beat the crap out of said boyfriend. No one here is sympathetic.
*** Difference is that the show is going out of its way to paint Brody as a bad guy and I think we're meant to think Finn is a hero for his actions, since that's how we're generally expected to think of Finn.
*** Brody is whoring himself to (apparently) pay for his tuition. Things are hard in this economy, and there might not be as many expedient ways for a guy to make money, especially with New York's infamously high cost of living, but there are certainly other ways for him to make money. The point where he loses sympathy is when he decides to take a steady girlfriend and refuses to stop being a gigolo and/or tell her the truth about his situation. Finn is very protective of Rachel because he knows probably better than anyone else how easy it is to hurt her and how she kind of just shuts down in those situations. But, when he confronts Brody, his demand is that he leaves her, ''not'' tell her the truth because he's just as much concerned with punishing a romantic rival as he is keeping Rachel safe. When Brody steps up their confrontation from words to physical contact he then uses that as an excuse to vent his current frustrations on an easy target. Both of them ''may'' have sympathetic motives for their actions, but at one point or another they both cross a line where they themselves are no long sympathetic in those actions.
* When is Regionals? This was episode sixteen and not only was it not competition but no one was working towards it and the preview for next week looks like it won't be then either. What was the point of loopholing them back into the competition season if they aren't going to compete?
* I get that Will was angry with Finn over what happened with Emma, that's perfectly understandable, but where is this unforgivable breach of trust coming from? Finn was the only one who had the courage to tell Will the truth, Emma was perfectly happy to continue lying to him about the kiss. Emma is the one who left him at the altar and left to float in the water for how many weeks without ever telling him ''why.'' It's true that Finn waited to tell Will too, but he eventually did when it because clear Emma wasn't going to. That's not a breach of trust, that's upholding it.
** The breach of trust is in kissing Emma in the first place.
*** Yes, exactly, which ''Emma never told him.'' She's just as guilty for trying to cover it up and pretending it never happened but all Will wants to do is punish Finn over and over even after Finn told him the truth (because Emma wouldn't), apologized and tried his hardest to make things right. Even after they had worked through their feud Will was still concerned with punishing Finn rather than confronting Emma about her deception.
*** Finn kissed Emma, she didn't kiss him back. Emma had nothing to admit to Will because she didn't do anything wrong. She was just standing there mid-panic attack and Finn kissed her without her consent. She didn't reciprocate. She didn't lead him on at all. She made no wrong actions, thus she had nothing to apologize for. Furthermore, I object to the notion that Finn telling Will was, in any way, courageous. He only did it to unburden himself of guilt. It was entirely selfish. Emma wasn't being unfaithful to Will, Finn was just being a rampaging tool bag as per usual. Thus why Will's animus is properly aimed only at Finn.

* What was the deal with whatever Kitty whispered to Brittany on ''Fondue For Two''? Was that just her admitting to liking the Spice Girls, or does it seem like a setup for something further on (or even, was it shown but my family and I missed it)? Brittany's expression seemed to me to be more like "Oh my god... should I call the cops?" than ""Oh, wow, that is ''horrifying'' taste in music!" but I would probably be one of the first to admit that I'm not good at reading facial expressions.
** Spice Girls
* I don't understand what of Rachel's alleged honor Brody was impugning with his entrepreneurial activities. Nor do I see how a random ex of hers taking a plane across the country to Scream his way out of a closet and attacking Brody for something he's already ashamed of having to do to survive defends her honor.
** To be fair, it's a seven hour drive at most from Ohio to NYC, not across the country.
*** Good lord, how fast do you drive? Because when you're following (or slightly exceeding) the speed limit it's closer to a nine and a half hour drive(assuming you don't hit any traffic along the way), and that's just getting ''to'' New York, much less getting around which could easily take another hour or so.
*** Okay, fine, then a nine hour drive (I live about 40 mins from the PA/Ohio border and so I added that onto the six hours it took the drive to NY the last time I went). It's still hardly 'across the country'. The only state between Ohio and New York is Pennsylvania.
*** Anyone going from Pennsylvania to Manhattan would also drive through New Jersey. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things but, come on, we're not invisible!
*** Driving it's still him committing the better part of a whole day there and back and if he flew it was a last minute round trip ticket which is significant investment of money (especially considering Finn doesn't have a paying job) all so he can beat up his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.
** Well, hypothetically they were supposedly defending Rachel's right to make informed decisions about who she sleeps with, but yeah, exactly nothing about any of that scene was in any way honorable. Finn made it perfectly clear that it was all about him and [[StalkingIsLove his "future wife" and punishing the guy that dares to be between him and what he thinks is his.]]
** To be clear, defending someone's honor and behaving honorably are not mutually inclusive concepts; just because Finn was defending Rachel's honor (and he was, but back to that in a second) that doesn't mean that his actions in doing so were in any way acceptable or appropriate. That being said, Brody had, on numerous occasions, lied to Rachel, by deed, by word, and by omission. That is not a respectful way to treat *anyone*, much less much less your significant other. Anyone who interceded in that situation on Rachel's behalf and called Brody out on his behavior would be defending Rachel's honor.
*** I'm sorry, but I don't understand that, how can you defend someone's honor when you don't have any yourself?
*** Is having honor necessary for that? You're defending someone ''else's'' honor, not your own. They are, of course, two very different things. I'm not saying what Finn did was right (or logical, I mean, it ''is'' Finn), just saying that defending the honor of another person doesn't require that you have great honor yourself; you just need a bit of consideration for the other. He didn't handle it well, though.
*** But was Finn defending her honor or was that a "side effect" of his need to assert his ownership of her?
*** I guess that depends on how you choose to look at it. I've always considered Finn to be pretty heavy-handed with not much of a verbal filter, so he usually ends up saying things that aren't ''exactly'' right, or just outright blurting out something stupid. Finn calling Rachel "my future wife" felt more like he was making it clear that Rachel's the only one for him, rather than the other way around. It also felt uncomfortable to hear, coming from him, but that's just this season being really bad at writing the characters (even for Glee).
** Sleeping with other people when you're in a relationship is a pretty shady thing to do, even before you bring money into account. Also, at this point, Brody is living with Rachel. It's not mentioned if he'd paying rent or not, but to other people, it could look like Rachel was letting Brody live with her in exchange was sex.
*** There is nothing shady about it; they agreed to be in an open relationship. Brody's only sin was not being up front about being a prostitute with Rachel.
* Okay, I know it's mostly new members now but still. Why did the Glee club have no problem with singing a Gary Glitter song but when it comes to Chris Brown they act like it's the worst thing ever? And why have Jake make such valid points for singing the song, only to have him turn around and sing a different one after all?
* Why bother making Unique Baby Spice if your going to screw up who gets what line anyway? If their supposed to be singing in character it means screwing up who says what. And yes I'm well aware of the fact that I'm nitpicking a Spice Girls song (and a good cover of it), but this should have been a simple translation. If you want to match up the voices, then make Unique Scary, Marley Ginger, etc.

* Why didn't Ryder call Katie again the next day? Would she really have gotten a new phone number by the next day and avoiding their parents after a shooting (because "hey mom, I can't come home right now, hug yourself while I go out and avoid a boy I've been catfishing" is a little too heartless)
** She probably wouldn't have answered it.
*** The other problem is, why didn't the person say it was them, it would have gotten to Ryder to turn off the phone so the shooter wouldn't hear them and it would have let them get it off their chest since they were confessing everything.
*** Maybe she wasn't in the room? It's possible...
* At the end of Feud, it's shown that Blaine joined the Cheerios so he and Sam could conspire to bring down Sue Sylvester. Two episodes later Sue loses her job covering up for Becky who brought the gun to school. If that's the direction they were going with, why even have the Blaine/Sam vs. Sue subplot?
** Honestly, it just feels sometimes like the different writers don't share notes. I would not be the least bit surprised if they retcon out Sue's resignation in another few weeks.
* Not that I'm an expert on guns in the slightest, but every gun I've ever fired required a hell of a lot more force to pull the trigger than that. Also, [[http://www.cracked.com/article_19781_6-stupid-gun-myths-everyone-believes-thanks-to-movies.html dropped guns don't fire]] like that. Maybe I was just disappointed because I thought the Catfish was gonna be the one shooting up the school looking for Ryder instead of Becky...

* Is the CD Mercedes hands out at the end supposed to be the album she was working on with her record company? Would she be allowed to do that? The record company would've sunk a lot of money into making that album, it seems doubtful they'd be okay with her walking away with all the songs.
** She could have also privately recorded a demo using her own money.
* (sorry for the bad way I'm probably phrasing this) So Mercedes was against showing off her body and then sings a song where she dances around and takes off her jacket.
** There is a difference between taking off your jacket during a performance and deliberately flashing your boobs on your album cover to rack up sales, mainly because the former doesn't involve using your body as a marketing ploy. I think what the show was trying to say was that Mercedes was worried about this being the slippery slope and her integrity being eroded away. Of course, this being Glee, the message was delivered with the subtlety of a sledgehammer and wrapped up in a nauseatingly wholesome package, but what can you do?
* Is it just me, or is Tina actually ''scaring'' anyone this season? In this episode in particular, 'mean Tina' was switching on and off in a matter of ''seconds''. What's up with her? It's disturbing.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:All Or Nothing]]
* So the show is implying that Klaine should get hitched instantly simply because New York has gay marriage (it's had it for almost two years IRL).But last season when Finchel wanted to get married out of high school a number of characters (Quinn, Burt, Carol, Hiram and Leroy, Kurt) told them it was a bad idea.
** The previous episode had Burt telling Blaine why he shouldn't be doing this. I guess he didn't listen.
** Sam also told him it was a bad idea and is supporting him in a "Well if you're doing this I might as well be by your side" kind of way. Just because people are telling Blaine not to do it, it doesn't mean he is going to listen. I personally don't think the show is trying to portray Blaine's plans as logical. I think the show is trying to show how much marriage means to LGBTQ people.
*** It feels more like the show's finally realized what a huge MartyStu Blaine ended up being and they're trying to drag him down a few (hundred) pegs, because Blaine is clearly being characterized as selfish, fickle and superficial.
* So, that Adam character sure had a point eh?
* I guess this isn't a headscratcher but the ending felt rushed. Couldn't they put off the marriage until the premiere and take that screen time to resolve Rachel's plot?
** That was probably to keep a semblance of logic. Emma wanted to get married right after sectionals because it's a big moment and she can't deal with the pressure, etc. Rachel won't be told if she got the role for several days after her audition.
** I'm pretty sure whether or not Rachel gets the Fanny Brice role is an intentional cliffhanger with the resolution in the Season 5 premiere
** Rushed is one of only two ways that Glee knows how to handle any given plot these days, the other being dragged out so long that no one cares anymore.
* It seems almost pointless to ask this anymore since the writers clearly have zero clue about how college works, but how can Brittany start MIT in the middle of a semester and without a high school diploma? Historically Regionals have been in early-to-mid March, just before Spring Break. She's already missed half the semester, including mid-terms. There's literally no way for her to make that up. I understand that they had to write Brittany out of the show due to Heather Morris's pregnancy, but they could have tried a tiny bit harder. Just because the show is an alleged comedy doesn't mean it shouldn't make a little bit of sense.
** I think one of the school officials said they were going to do something "unconventional", so maybe she's just there to write down the occasional number sequence? I agree with you though, it doesn't make any sense.
** Brittany says in the show circle scene that she's taking early enrollment which would imply classes (or at least it would if the writers knew anything at all about how college works which they clearly don't), but who can tell? We will probably never know since this was them writing her off the show in a hurry.
** It is possible to be enrolled in a college without actively taking any classes. In addition, most colleges have 'classes' that are really a way to have something on the record so the student can receive credits for doing things that aren't necessarily official classwork, usually an internship or volunteer work for one of the professors. So likely Brittany is either enrolled but not taking any classes yet - probably they want to do some work to prep her for having to take the traditional classes that she'll need to pass to graduate - or she's enrolled for class credits while working one-on-one with some of the professors to tease out more math genius from her.
* Is it just me or did this really not feel like a season finale? Usually, the finales for this show feel like, well, finales. Like a perfect stopping point if, for some reason, the show were inexplicably cancelled or the network vanished from the airwaves or something. But this episode felt like just another midseason episode. It had a whole "no big deal" vibe to me.
** I agree. Maybe the increase in characters means they have more to shove into a full season, so they can't make it a full school year?
*** And yet so much of this season felt like filler. The superhero episode and the acoustic episode. The "Brody's a drug dealer" story dragged out over three episodes. So much could have been condensed or left out with no real difference in the end product.
** Honestly, and this is just my opinion, but it feels like they didn't really have a plan for where any of the stories were going this year, so the season ends on a whimper rather than a bang. It's also likely they didn't want to end this season on graduation because then you'd be writing out all the rest of the original cast, or at least all of them aside from Blaine who will likely join the NYC story line once he graduates. I think they know that the majority of the audience isn't feeling most of the new kids.
* Why did they change the line in "I Don't Care" from, 'I threw your shit into a bag' into 'I threw your stuff into a bag' if they were still able to get away with saying 'I'm a nineties bitch' without it being censored?
** Not able to think of an answer for the below question, but there's a difference between saying bitch and shit on a television show that has viewers of a younger age watching. The show has said bitch numerous times previously on it but I can't think of a single instance where they said shit.
* Similar to the above why bother changing the line in "Wings" from 'if they give you sh..' to 'if they give you hell' it just seems pointless and it seems like they would be worse off with the new line.
** This is true for a lot of American television. For some reason, "bitch" is not as bad as "shit", where as in British television (take Series/{{Sherlock}} for example) where John says "shit" multiple times throughout the series.
