!!The books:

* One of the chapter books has the students get back at the acting principal for setting a new dress code. They decide to violate the dress code without actually breaking anything. The dress code says no ''blue'' jeans, AintNoRule about ''GREEN'' Jeans... The Dress code says no ''Batbear'' capes. This is a ''Superbear'' cape. The acting principal promptly throws a tantrum and installs an ObviousRulePatch on the very first day... Which the cubs continue to find ways to get around.
** At the debate on the dress code in the end, the argument the students have prepared is...a slide show on the [[IWasQuiteAFashionVictim fashions the adults were into back in their day.]] Even better, it focuses on the biggest supporters of the dress code; Papa Bear in Ti-dye wear, Miss Glitch in a mini-skirt, and Vice-principal Grizzmyer in a zoot suit, chain-and-watch included.
* The chapter book about the Galloping Ghost has Papa Bear telling Brother and Sister that everyone is afraid of something. When Sister asks what Papa is afraid of, he answers with "[[DeadpanSnarker Your mama]]."
* Mama Bear's DeadpanSnarker moments:
** In "Too Much TV", when Papa asks how he can watch the news, Mama responds with, "Try this. It's called a newspaper." and holds up a paper that actually has, "I am called a newspaper," printed on it.
** Papa also asks how he can check the weather, Mama answers with "Try this. It's called sticking your hand out the window to see if it's raining."
** Similarly, in "Too Much Junk Food", Papa asks what kind of healthy liquids he and the cubs should drink. Mama says, "Try this. It's called water."
* The HumiliationConga Papa Bear goes through in “Too Much Vacation.”
* Most of the book ''The Bike Ride'', as Papa tries to disguise his many mistakes while teaching Small Bear bike-riding as [[AntiAdvice lessons on what not to do]]. Small Bear remains oblivious throughout the book.
* "Too Much Teasing" opens with a narration explaining that Brother and Sister disagree on certain things. One of them is scary movies which Brother likes and Sister doesn’t. The corresponding picture has Brother dragging Sister to see ''The Spookiest Spook''. The movie Sister wants to see? ''L'il Lambie-Pie''.

!!The Hanna-Barbera series:
* The 1985 TV adaptation of "The Messy Room" has some pretty funny moments even though Mama may be at her worst; one moment of perfectly timed comic relief is when, after screaming at the cubs about being "No More Mrs. Nice Guy", she claims she is putting her foot down, which she does... Onto Brother's model plane cement. Naturally, Brother tries to lighten up the situation from it.
** Of course, Mama's blowup is hilariously over-the-top in and of itself, with even the spider inhabitants running in terror.
** Mama falling victim to the cubs' ExplodingCloset. Somehow a ''banana peel'' is among the debris which Mama flicks off her shoulder.
* Papa Bear uncovering the cubs' lie in "Tell the Truth". They invent a story where a bird flew in the house and knocked over the lamp but Papa sees right through it:
-->'''Papa:''' Or was it a '''white''' bird with '''black''' spots, like that soccer ball underneath my easy chair?
** Also, the cubs have trouble keeping the lie consistent, which results in things like "It squawked" "It whistled" "It squawked ''[[BreadEggsBreadedEggs and]]'' whistled".
* Papa's over-the-top evil self (with BigOlEyebrows, sharper claws, [[FangsAreEvil fangs]], a vague [[VampireVords Transylvanian accent]], and the bottom corners of his hat shaped into devil horns) at the beginning of his NightmareSequence in "The Spookiest Pumpkin".
* Papa going off the deep end in "Forget Their Manners".
** Same episode, when Mama starts going next-level on her manners rules, she berates Papa for not saying, "Thank you" for the duster she handed him, which was as a punishment for him interrupting her. Then Papa falls into yet another punishment:
--->'''Sister''': Rude noises? What does that mean?\
'''Papa''': Oh, y'know, ''(blows raspberry)''\
'''Mama''': ''(from the kitchen)'' Penalty number twelve!
* In "To the Rescue", Papa becoming a DistressedDude each time he mistakes another bear for being in danger. In one such case, he thinks a beekeeper gathering honey is being attacked by [[ScaryStingingSwarm a swarm of bees]]. Papa whispers "[[TitleDrop To the rescue!]]" [[AsideComment at the audience]] before tackling the beekeeper. Papa apologizes for the misunderstanding, and the beekeeper lets loose a string of {{Angrish}} before the bees chase Papa.
* In "Blaze a Trail", Papa makes a stew by cooking skunk cabbages, bugleweed, and tumblebugs (dung beetles) in an abandoned bird's nest filled with bog water. The smell of the stew causes the cubs and a ''crocodile'' to pass out, while a [[SmellySkunk skunk]] loved it (just to show bad it smelled).

!!The Nelvana series:
[[quoteright:238:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/berenstain_bears_fish.png]]
[[caption-width-right:238:[[HowIsThatEvenPossible But... But it almost dragged me off the dock...]] '''[[ExplainExplainOhCrap W-WHOOOOO-OO-OOOOA!!!!!]]''']]
* "Go Up And Down", from Papa almost driving off without taking the cubs and the fishing equipment to him having to repeatedly [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin go up and down]] a long set of stairs to get whatever equipment they might need which quickly wears him out.
-->''(Papa and the cubs sit down in a rowboat, without oars)''\
'''Papa''': Let me guess. The oars are back up at the cottage.\
'''Lizzy''': Uh-huh.\
''(Papa groans wearily)''
* In "Papa's Pizza," Brother and Sister hosting a party at their place, trying to figure out what everyone wants to eat, and finding that seemingly everyone around them is a PickyEater. Points in particular to Ferdy Factual for telling brother that he's trying to cut back on calories and lower his intake of non-hydrogenated fatty acids.
-->'''Brother''': (''frowning'') Huh? ({{Beat}}) Uh... never mind. How do you spell "hydrogenated"?
** Later...
--->'''Brother''': It looks like the only thing everyone can agree on is crackers and water.\
'''Sister''': But Lenny only likes unsalted crackers.
* In "The Female Fullback," Betsy will only join Brother, Freddy and Too Tall's football team if they help her with her other activities, which are track, basketball and ballet.
-->'''Brother''': So if I'm helping Betsy with track...\
'''Freddy''': and I'm helping her with basketball...\
'''Too Tall''': ...then I guess I'm helping her with... ballet?!
** Later he suggests that they might want to swap activities...
--->'''Freddy''': No thanks, tutu. I mean Too Tall.
* In "Get the Gimmes", Papa has a moment of NotSoAboveItAll. Brother and Sister catch wind of marshmallow chocolate bears, and of course as they do throughout the episode, they beg to have them. Mama immediately says no, then after they sadly walk away...
-->'''Papa''': Mmm, marshmallow and chocolate!\
'''Mama''': ''(forcibly yanks him away from the shelf full of them)''\
'''Papa''': Yah!
* "The Perfect Fishing Spot" has very funny scenes focused on Sister and Papa during their fishing trip. One example is when Papa catches what he thinks is a big one... which turns out to be a pair of pants. Papa is confused, as it nearly dragged him off the dock. Cue a fish ''flying out of the pants towards Papa,'' knocking him down. This moment provides the page image.
* In "Think of Those in Need", Papa Bear comments that the cubs' room is so messy that it looks like they're trying to raise a family of monkeys. The cubs think that raising a family of monkeys would actually be pretty cool and talk about what they'd hypothetically do.
* In "Too Much Vacation", Papa going through several mishaps during the family's "best vacation ever". Especially when he is sweeping leaves out of the cabin...and then runs out scared by a stampede of squirrels, chipmunks, and raccoons.
* In "Week at Grandma's", Mama and Papa go on a second honeymoon at a lodge...[[HumiliationConga which does not go well as planned to say the least]]. First, their tennis game gets ruined by a dog stealing the ball. Then, Papa accidentally loses their picnic while on a canoe ride. At dinnertime, their making up for skipping lunch is foiled by their meals being ''very'' small portions. Finally, they dance to REALLY loud rock 'n' roll music instead of slow dancing.
* In "Fly It", Brother and Freddy plan on making an volcano for their science project, only for Teacher Bob to shoot that down, pointing out that the "lava" from the previous eruption is still stuck on the classroom ceiling.
-->'''Too Tall:''' ''(sheepishly)'' Heh heh. When you put grape jelly under pressure, you never know what's going to happen.\
'''Teacher Bob:''' ...Yes.
* In "Big Bear, Small Bear," Brother Bear tries to act like Papa. One of the ways he does so is to ask for coffee with his breakfast, but Mama vetoes that idea.
-->'''Mama''': I don't think so.
* In "Go to School", Brother shows Sister some of his old vocab words from third grade, among them being "apprehensive" and "precipitation". Upon being told the definitions, she snaps, "Well, why can't they just say, 'afraid' and 'rain'?!". Then, he asks her if she knows what a synonym is, to which she replies, "uh-huh-- it's my favourite spice".
* In one episode, Brother insults Too-Tall's friends by asking if they're "Tweedledum and Tweedle-dumber". Their response:
-->'''Smirk''': "I guess you're Tweedledum, Scuz!"
-->'''Scuz''': "That means you're Tweedle-dumber, Smirk!"
