* Mr. Five tries to get Jimmy and Smudge to stop playing videogames by having them play chess, much to the boys' annoyance. After he explains that the game is over once the king dies, Smudge decides to kill his own king.
--> '''Mr. Five:''' What did you do?!
--> '''Smudge:''' I killed my own king.
--> '''Mr. Five:''' [[BigWhat WHAT?!]]
--> '''Smudge:''' It's called a ''coup d'état'', my friend.
* In "Que Fim Levou o Sansão", Monica, Maggy and Denise trying to figure out who took Monica's bunny and Denise makes the obvious name drop of Jimmy, prompting Monica to ask how does she know that. When Denise rethorically asks who else they know that don't like her...[[BrutalHonesty Maggy drops an extensive list of people that fit the criteria]], including the likes of Carmen, the comic's recurring villains, every boy in the block...and Santa Claus.
* Every comic featuring Nutty Ned. Particularly one where he finally meets his match in Nick Nope... Who drives HIM crazy instead to the point of making him want to go back to the mental ward. And he does that simply by ''enabling'' Ned's nuttiness.
** One story has Jimmy on his way to visit a friend, only to encounter Ned and suffer from his antics. After getting angry enough to tell the guy to blink out of existence, Jimmy gets back on track and... visits a puzzled Ned on the mental ward to gift him a flower bouquet.
* Smudge's feet are apparently drawn without toes not because of the art style, but because he wears pantyhoses.
* In "Barriga de Aluguel", Junior wants to rent Maggy's stomach, as in having someone to eat his food for him, and she accepts. When she eats so much she becomes bloated, she tells her mother that she got like that after renting her stomach, prompting her mother to instantly pass out. What makes this funny is an unfortunately LostInTranslation DoubleEntendre as the Brazilian term for "stomach renting" is a slang used for ''surrogate pregnancy'', so Maggy's mom's FreakOut is completely understandable, especially with Maggy's bloated stomach from overeating.
* In a Maggy story where her father's boss is coming over for dinner and her father hopes to make a good impression, Maggy loses it and eats all the food in the dinner, thus ruining it and leaving Maggy's dad freaking out over what his boss will think. The next day, her father gets a raise and his boss states that he needs to earn a lot more to feed off Maggy.
* Monica and Maggy read "[[https://sillydragon.com/gen_edu/Fables/Fable_0149.html The Fable of the Two Scarabs]]", though they incorrectly assume that "dung" is another word for "ice cream" and mispronounce [[Literature/AesopsFables the author]]'s name as "Isopor" (Portuguese for "polystyrene"). Once they are done, Maggy realizes that, since she refused to share her ice cream with Monica, she is as gluttonous as the insect from the story and starts to cry, yelling that she is "a selfish polystyrene scarab". When Franklin overhears her and asks why she is weeping, Maggy responds that it's because she ate a lot of dung, causing the boy to faint.
* In "Os Micos que a Gente Paga para Ir à Praia", Junior spends the whole story pulling pranks on his family and Maggy as revenge for forcing him to go to the beach with them. At the end, he hides from his enraged cousin in a tube, until Maggy walks in and points out it's a sewage pipe, causing the boy to freak out.
* In "No Meio do Caminho Havia uma Poça de Lama" ("There Was a Mud Pool in the Middle of the Road"), Monica gets stuck in a mudhole, with Jimmy Five and Smudge trying to get her out somehow. At one point Smudge tries digging around the area Monica is stuck on and finds out the mud hardened around her and is as hard as cement now. When Smudge asks Jimmy for ideas, this gem happens:
--> '''Jimmy''': Well, we could go over to the corner shop to see if they sell half a dozen of firecrackers and-
--> '''Monica''': What!? What do you want to do!? Blow me up!?
--> '''Jimmy''': Geez, what a spoiled girl! You're never happy with anything! What harm is an explosion down there going to do to you anyway? [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall You don't even have toes!]]
--> '''Monica''': I don't care! Try something else!
* In "O Plano da Armadura à Prova de Mônica" ("The Plan of the Monica-proof Armor"):
** Jimmy decides to use a bird cage as armor to protect himself from Monica, but asks Smudge to test it. Smudge flicks his nose through the cagebars, pelts him with thorny seeds and kicks his unguarded shins. Jimmy, in his hubris, thinks his plan is infallible since Monica's default approach is punching and bludgeoning him with her plush bunny, which the cage DOES defend against, so he leaves to find her and prove his point, insulting her to her face and boasting about his armor. Only:
--> '''Jim (Offscreen)''': *Pow* Ow! Flicks aren't fair! *Pow* Ow! Neither are kicks to the shin! *Pow* What is wrong with you, you fatty!? Where is that ridiculous bunny of yours! (Jimmy shows up running away from Monica as she is bombarding him with thorny seeds) Help! She's gone mad!
** Then, after Jimmy falls down a cliff, he wonders why Monica didn't use the rabbit. Smudge then tells him that Monica washed it and that he saw it hung up to dry that morning, [[ItAmusedMe but didn't tell Jimmy just to see his plan backfire]]. You's a troll, Smudge. You's a troll.
* In "Uma História de Elefantes e Palavras-Chaves" ("A Story of Elephants and Keywords"), Jimmy befriends a circus elephant who is trained to react to trigger words that make it do tricks or enter a combat mode. When Junior unknowingly says the trigger word in a passing remark about the elephant, it goes berserk and charges at Junior. Then, completely out of nowhere, a RelaxOVision pops up with a small bee reciting a sugary poem over the elephant's rampage.
* A oneshot had this seller promoting a SuperStrength tonic and asks for a volunteer. He decides to pick an example from the crowd and picks a little girl assuming she had a child's strength. That little girl is Monica, who lifts the weights, boulders and cars the seller had around for demonstration. Those weren't fake, but because everyone assumed Monica was a weak little girl, the crowd thinks the seller is trying to con them. Later, the same seller tries to sell an appetite tonic...[[ForegoneConclusion and asks Maggy for a demonstration.]]
* Nimbus comes home to find Nick Nope walking on the ceiling after the latter decides it has more room and stays up there until Nimbus points out the gravity law. Immediately cue Nick Nope plummeting to the floor.
* The story/episode "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of5yePh37L0 A Cartoon Duel]]", in which Smudge comes upon Jimmy drawing comics of his original superhero character Super Captain Five and asks Jimmy if he can create a sidekick for him, but is rejected. Out of spite, Smudge starts drawing his own comics about his own superhero and butting into Super Captain Five's adventures, resulting in the two taking potshots against each other and squabbling. That is, until Monica intervenes.
* Emerson Abreu has gone on record saying that "Monica's Origin" is among the stories he's had the most fun writing. Its premise is that a narrator (who is actually Angel in disguise) informs Monica of her "real" backstory, though the entire tale is but an excuse for him to roast her every other panel. It starts with baby Monica being literally kicked out of a ship, because her weight was threatening to sink the vessel. Since "rotten things float", she survives and washes up on African shores, where a family of elephants mistake her for one of their own and adopt her. Monica thus spends her childhood in the mother elephant's nest, with the latter sitting on her every night to keep her warm.
--> '''Jimmy:''' Wait, let me see if I got this ''stwaight''. Monica is super ''stwong'' because she was ''waised'' under an elephant's a'''bun'''dance?
* In "Sonhos de Papel" ("Paper Dreams"), Jimmy's latest plan to defeat Monica involves training an army of ants to become sailors of his armada of paper boats, then sending them on a voyage to Monica's backyard. As soon as the colony sets sail, a car sinks the boats by splashing water on them, causing Jimmy to cry hysterically while the few surviving bugs sing "[[Film/Titanic1997 My Heart Will Go On]]".
* The crossover between Chuck Billy's gang and Denise was acclaimed for a very good reason, as the contrast between the hillbillies' culture and Denise's modern lingo led to comedy gold. Denise organizes a rave in Chuck's farm and requests him to supply the party with cool beverages and hip songs... leading him to harvest the milk from his cows and hire a fanfare band.
* Jimmy tries to ruin the girls' sleep over by telling them ghost stories, so a frightened Denise proposes they clear the air of negative vibes by burning incenses. This leaves Jimmy flabbergasted, as he thought incenses served a completely different purpose.
--> '''Denise:''' You've never seen an incense before?
--> '''Jimmy:''' Of course I have. My mom always lights one up after dad is done [[ToiletHumour using the toilet]].
* In "Barraco entre Famílias", Jimmy and Sunny's families face each other in a game show. One of the challenges has the boys perform a number to a panel comprised of Franklin, Monica and Smudge. Jimmy and his mother design a flying bathtub, which fares poorly with the judges[[note]] Franklin criticizes the project for being too simplistic, Monica is concerned about water rationing, and the aquaphobic Smudge angrily berates the invention for its "poor taste"[[/note]]. Meanwhile, Sunny's performance is to jump on a washing machine and pretend it's an angry horse, which is inexplicably acclaimed.
* In "Você Está Pensando o Mesmo que Eu?" ("Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?"):
** When Jimmy finds out he missed the opportunity to make a wish upon a shooting star, he freaks out and begins rambling about all the things he wanted, namely being stronger than Monica, getting a truckload of comic books, and [[PrecociousCrush having his baby sister replaced with Britney Spears]].
** Jimmy and Smudge figure out they share a telepathic link when they both have the same ridiculous epiphany at the same time.
--> '''Smudge:''' If a man eats a cow that ate grass from the pasture, then he is a vegetarian by proxy.
--> '''Jimmy:''' So why doesn't he just go to the pasture and eat the grass to begin with?!
* Smudge's idea of dressing up as a pirate involves wearing a [[FlowersOfFemininity floral]] bandanna, an earring and his mother's clogs (to represent a wooden leg).
--> '''Smudge:''' Well, pirates used to wear head scarves and earrings!\
'''Jimmy:''' Yeah, but that was before people invented dignity.
* In "O Ogro da Ponte" ("The Bridge Ogre"), Denise hypnotizes Monica, who comes to believe she is the titular creature and begins terrorizing anyone who tries to cross the local bridge.
** Denise tells Jimmy that Monica's delusion will only be broken once she, the hypnotizer, snaps her fingers... only to realize she doesn't know how to perform this simple action.
** Jimmy's plan is to take advantage of Monica's fantasy and dress up as someone that ogres fear. So he confronts her as Prince Charming... and uses Denise as his steed. Notably, this is one of the few times Jimmy manages to make fun of Denise, rather than the other way around.
---> '''Denise:''' Wait, why am I the one down here?
---> '''Jimmy:''' Because I look like a prince. And you, like a horse.
* In "The Game Master", the gang plays a TabletopRPG where the objective is to steal a treasure from an ogre. Jimmy unsurprisingly decides to roleplay as a pirate, though he fails to defeat the monster due to an unlucky dice roll. Monica then faces the ogre as an architect, and successfully steals the treasure by ripping him off with an unfair contract.
* In "Panterelas versus Pitangueiras", Monica is shocked that Denise has befriended Penha and demands an explanation. What follows is an entire page of Denise passive-aggressively "defending" Penha.
--> '''Denise:''' Is Penha cruel and mean? Yes. Is she ugly as sin? Absolutely. But is that enough reason to cancel her? Just because she is arrogant, boastful, petulant, smug and unbearable? You should know she has a wonderful trait we all lack: a huge pool in her backyard.

!Manga
* From the ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft''-based story in the manga, we have Angel as [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII Sephiroth]], at which point this dialogue takes place:
--> '''Skyfiroth[=/=]Angel''': Behold, infidels...The power of the OneWingedAngel!
--> '''Jim''': [[GenreSavvy Ok, Skyfiroth or whatever. Tell me this: If you only have one wing, how are you flying?]]
--> '''(Angel falls down the cliff)'''
--> '''Lucilia''': He's not very bright, is he?
--> '''Jim''': Hard to believe he made it to Epic level.
** From the same arc, Smudge's [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Kakashi]] costume.
** The thing about Angel's name is brought back in the Id Monsters arc, also coming off the controversy over his AtrociousAlias early on:
---> '''Jim''': Calm down, Angelus... Skyboy... Skyfiroth... Whatever you're calling yourself this month!
* Jim creates a [[Franchise/SailorMoon Tuxedo Kamen]]-like disguise for a costume party so he can spend time with Monica...but the fact that he did such a good job at wooing her as the masquerade and made sure she never figured out who he was...only gave him another love rival. When Smudge points this out to him, he has the painful realization he did not think the whole thing through. [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse That persona is never brought up again, though.]]
* All of Jim's AccidentalPervert moments throughout the series are worth a few chuckles.
* All of Jim's DeadpanSnarker moments in Maggy's TeenIdol arc. But particularly this one after Smudge pisses Monica off at the worst time possible:
--> '''Jim''': Keeping your mouth shut. A lost art.
** From the same arc, the RunningGag of Smudge popping out of nowhere shouting "Of course it's you!" when any given character is wondering if they are the problem of a certain situation.
* Denise, in a fit of jealousy, hits [[spoiler:Future!]]Sunny with a painful GroinAttack whose impact lasts for a good two pages when he is shown with an ice pack over his crotch area.
* When [[GrimReaper Lady MacDeath]] shows in Issue#4 and goes into PurpleProse about fate and destiny after Maggy and Smudge find Monica presumably dead and Monica wonks her in the head with a rock before telling them she only slipped and fell down, and Jim was in tears because she fell on his feet.
* Monica loses and is eliminated in the TournamentArc and Jim ponders if it is bad of him to ask her opponent for an autograph for defeating Monica.
** Smudge then fights the same guy, makes a terrible pun about boots while knocking off his foe's gas mask and then scaring him off the fight with the awful stench of his feet.
* When [[HashtagForLaughs #TeamCebola and #TeamDC]] (roughly, "#[=TeamJ=] and #[=TeamNope=]") starts trending in Issue #94 over whether or not Monica should wear bracers, the following pages are each character giving their own reasons for siding with a given team and it [[SerialEscalation trends all the way to]] [[WalkingWasteland Captain Fray]], [[WickedWitch Viviane]], ''ComicBook/CaptainAmerica'' and ''ComicBook/IronMan''. Made all the more hilarious considering what the Jim x Nick Nope debate [[Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar was based off of]][[note]]Hence the presence of the Marvel {{Captain Ersatz}}es; the film served as a FramingDevice for the story, and the story began with the Gang coming from the movies after watching it[[/note]].
** From the same issue, when the entirety of the class is debating the topic, Nutty Ned yells at them to stop...because he is #[=TeamCebola=] and that's that.
* From the official {{Crossover}} with ''Creator/DCComics'', by December 2018:
** Smudge inadvertently and nonchalantly blurting out the secret identities of all members of the Justice League. Jim can be seen nearly facepalming in the foreground.
** In the December issue, Sunny teams up with Aquaman, who calls him "Sonny" (which, in Portuguese, is a MythologyGag, since Sunny's original name, Xaveco, was written "Chaveco" in the early strips). Even after he corrects him ("It's Sunny, with a U!"), Aquaman still calls him "Sonny with a U".
** A machine created by Franklin, using [[Comicbook/AdamStrange Zeta Rays technology]], accidentally teleports each member of the gang to a different place in DC universe. Monica, [[ActionGirl fittingly enough]], appears in [[Franchise/WonderWoman Themyscira]]; Jimmy, in the [[Franchise/{{Batman}} Batcave]]; Smudge, being still not fond of water, is transported to... [[ComicBook/{{Aquaman}} Atlantis]], of all places.
** [[spoiler: Nick Nope]] temporarily becomes a ComicBook/GreenLantern. The constructs he creates: [[ImprobableWeaponUser an army of Monicas, each one wielding a Samson]].
--> '''Simon Baz''': A squad of girls spinning plush bunnies?
--> '''Jessica Cruz''': OK... I confess I've never seen a '''Lantern''' do that!
** Nick Nope getting dropped into Oa also deserves mention. He's absolutely delighted at the fact that the Green Lantern Corps is comprised of so many different alien lifeforms, when Kilowog comes to address him saying that an average human kid shouldn't be there. Nick actually takes offense at being called "average".

!Graphic Novels
* In "Lições", Maggy's lack of table manners earns her the etiquette teacher's disdain. During make-up class, the woman says they appear to finally be dealing with a topic Maggy is interested in, since the girl always arrives with her lips covered in gloss. Maggy responds that it's not gloss, it's just chicken grease.
