* Wolves attack Skeletons. Dogs like to eat bones.
* Players can take discs and jukeboxes into the Nether and thus change the somber or ominous music. It's fun fighting Nether mobs to fun tracks like Cat.
* The Beta 1.2 update allows players to dye wool blocks different colors. The funny thing is that you can also do this to living sheep, resulting in a swarm of sheep in outlandish colorations. Even better, when you shear the sheep, and the wool grows back, it's still the same color as the dye.
* Get into water while a dog follows you. When you get out, you can see the dog shaking off the water as soon as he stops!
* Everything about [[https://www.mojang.com/2015/04/minecraft-snapshot-15w14a-the-love-and-hugs-update/ the Love and Hugs Update.]] It's a fake, saccharine update which means:
** [[ActualPacifist You can't hurt anyone, even the bad guys]] (who have been rewritten as NotEvilJustMisunderstood).
** Survival mode is renamed Existence but doesn't even have health and hunger, so food now [[EatingOptional just makes you happy]].
** They don't even know how the squid changed.
** Cows can notify you, chickens can be ridden, and pigs can climb on walls.
** It can't rain as [[RainRainGoAway that would be annoying]]... Only, now it can rain again as it can soothe you to sleep.
** Lava has been replaced with molten cheese.
** The only weapon is bows, which make people fall in love like Cupid.
** There's a "love" meter, caused by helping, that is otherwise useless.
** Horses now ride on ''you''.
* The End Cities are mostly weird and creepy, but the structures resemble upside-down birthday cakes, especially if more End rods or torches are added.
* 1.9 introduces Elytra Wings, which allows Minecraft players to [[NotQuiteFlight glide]]. Equip them on a ground-based mob and knock them off the edge. Proceed to watch as they soar uncontrollably into the distance (due to their AI [[ArtificialStupidity not being programmed with gliders in mind]]).
* The fun doesn't stop here. In fact, the same update allows you to shear the pumpkin off of a Snow Golem, revealing its [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naked_snowlem.png real, silly face]] underneath.
* [[https://youtu.be/anaZMrtfMW8?t=599 As Captain Sparklez demonstrated]], it's possible for a spit-fight between llamas to erupt if one accidentally spits at another.
* The description for the advancement "Serious Dedication" states "Completely use up a diamond hoe, [[ViolationOfCommonSense and then reevaluate your life choices.]]"
** In 1.16, the advancement was reworked to instead be gained when the player made a netherite hoe, but left in the part about reevaluating life choices.
* Phantoms can't get past tree branches or go into small holes. They still try, however, and it's quite amusing to imagine their attacking screeches translating to "dang!" when they hit an obstacle and get trapped.
* Pre-release versions of the game would cause fire to spread like a virus in forests, meaning you could set up a campfire, look away for a bit, and turn around to see that you've created a wildfire that would reduce Smokey the Bear to tears. Fire spread was sadly {{nerf}}ed in a later update.
* [[SchmuckBait Go ahead, try to sleep in the Nether.]] All you'll be getting out of that is you and your bed [[StuffBlowingUp inexplicably exploding.]]
** Even better. In later versions, the chat reads the player who dies to this method was killed by "Intentional Game Design". When moused over, it gives the number for a bug tracker entry in which this behaviour was mistakenly reported, as if to tell inexperienced players "yes, that ''was'' supposed to happen."
*** You get the same result--and message--if you try to activate a Respawn Anchor in the Overworld or End.
** It's possible to survive this if you activate the bed from the furthest possible distance. It also works in the End. Cue speedrunners killing the Ender Dragon with ''[[ImprobableWeaponUser beds]]''.
** Beds in the Nether explode more violently than TNT, leading to players using it as an economical way to ''mine'' for Netherite.
* Some of the Loading Tips: "DON'T LEAVE TREES FLOATING", "[[LampshadeHanging Do people actually read these?]]", "Using fireworks boosts elytra speed in mid air. Just... make sure they don't explode, otherwise it'll hurt BADLY!", "Be nice to animals!", "Don't kill dolphins, [[YouBastard you monster]]!"
* Sometimes zombies jump into boats with players if close enough, attacking from behind all the while. Then when jumping out of the boat, the zombie will just keep drifting away.
** Endermen can also be trapped in boats. The sight of an Enderman [[NightmareRetardant sitting in one screaming helplessly]] is something to behold.
** Two creepers will fit in one boat, looking for all the world like they're planning an OldFashionedRowboatDate.
* If you use a boat on solid ground, you have a prairie schooner. It’s horrendously slow but it works! Slapping a boat down on ice makes you go hyper speed.
* When a Guardian is outside of water, it [[VocalDissonance makes cute squeaking sounds]] and sometimes takes fall damage from its own clumsiness.
* Sometimes after killing a Hoglin, the Piglins will do a HappyDance. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je7v8NAJZSE Everybody dance now!]]
** As a joke one of the Mojang devs at the time made the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UeeF4lMPnk opposite]] happen. It looks as ridiculous as it sounds and unfortunately (or fortunately) isn't available in any official version.
* Some of the 1.16 Advancements are worth a chuckle, like [[Music/JohnDenver "Country Lode, Take Me Home"]][[note]]Connect a compass to a Lodestone.[[/note]] and "Ooh, Shiny!"[[note]]Distract an angry Piglin with a gold ingot.[[/note]]
* While baby piglins will ride baby hoglins, it's more amusing when 2 other baby piglins are riding on top of the first piglin on a hoglin.
* Vindicators sound like [[Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine Odo]].
* An Iron Golem may straight-up ''yeet'' a Husk when killing it.
* The 1.17 update add goats. While they are already a source of comedy due to their tendency to headbutt mobs (and players) off a cliff, there is a rare chance that a goat may be a [[MemeticMutation screaming goat]], which occasionally makes a hilarious scream-like sound instead of bleating.
* The description for the advancement "Into the Fire" is a hilarious AccidentalInnuendo:
-->Relieve a Blaze of its rod.
* The Haste status effect appropriately has a giant golden pickaxe for the icon. Its opposite effect Mining Fatigue's icon? ''A teaspoon''.
* Sometimes Endermen jump on blocks and start spinning around as if they’re dancing.
* Endermen will still hold objects when chasing players. It’s at least a little funny if they happen to be holding a flower while [[CherryTapping smacking the player around]].
* When trading with Piglins, they may drop enchanted boots…and then immediately put them on.
* Using the "Dinnerbone" name tag can turn a mob upside down. Imagine riding an upside-down horse.

[[folder:Glitches and Bugs]]
* [[GoodBadBugs A bug,]] [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks now fixed,]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI_5Bm4iDNo would enable you to ride pigs on ice really fast.]] Try not to giggle.
* A hilarious glitch that makes you move super fast when the time is moved forward to compensate for how long it's "been." [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0I3pF-JYuA You have to see it to understand.]] You can still kinda see it in laggy servers, as mobs might freeze in place for a while, then move at super speed once they do move again to compensate.
* Snapshot 19w38a, for update 1.15 was released on September 18, 2019. A few hours later, Snapshot 19w38b was released. Why? 19w38a revamped the block-breaking animation, but there was a mistake in the code, resulting in the only change for 19w38b being the glorious '''"[[EpicFail Fixed bug: Game crashes when breaking a block]]"'''
* Snapshot 20w11a introduced the Soul Speed enchantment, which allows you to walk faster on soul sand and soul soil. However, placing water over top of soul blocks and using the enchantment causes the player to ''continue speeding up indefinitely''. Swimming and using speed-enchancing potion effects like Speed II and Dolphin's Grace causes you to speed up even more. Ladies and gentlemen, [[https://youtu.be/gRmJxE8f3WA?t=333 The Human Railgun!]]
* 1.16's 1st prerelease build ''somehow'' managed to introduce a bug that could remove the Nether and End dimensions from the game, by enabling and disabling a custom dimension brought in from a datapack. To clarify: a prerelease for the Nether Update allowed you to delete the Nether!
* The [[https://twitter.com/henrikkniberg/status/1339865273881538560 trident pogo stick]]
* In Bedrock 1.18.10.26 beta for 1.19, frogs can eat ''[[https://youtu.be/WYAf12hy8R4?t=121 goats]]''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other]]
* According to the official Minecraft blog, [[https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/which-mob-makes-best-pet-0 these mobs make the best pets]].
* ''Minecraft'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRZQiCCIqiE 1.2 trailer]]:
-->(while falling) "I heard that you can build twice as high in Minecraft now"
--> "Oh really, that's interesAAAAAAAHHH"
* Most items that involve the day/night cycle or direction start to bug out when you enter the Nether. However, the silliest case of this would have to be wood-and-wool beds ''exploding violently'' when one attempts to use them.
* The Beta 1.6.6 patch notes. It has some nice tweaks, nothing too major... Wait, [[UrbanLegendOfZelda "Removed Herobrine"]]? [[FlatWhat What]].
** That's been in every patch for some time. Either Notch still thinks it's hilarious, or he's trying to do [[StreisandEffect damage control]] on the persistence of the meme.
* Bethesda threaten to sue Notch for a then-upcoming game called ''Scrolls'' for "stealing?" the name from ''Franchise/TheElderScrolls''. Notch's proposal? [[http://notch.tumblr.com/post/9038258448/hey-bethesda-lets-settle-this A Trial-by-(Quake)-champion to settle this.]] Some people are waiting to see if it will work.
** Best part? NOTCH IS ACTUALLY SERIOUS.
*** For those curious, the suit ended in not only a refusal, but Notch won the round, with the court ruling that ''Scrolls'' was not likely to be mistaken for the full title of ''The Elder Scrolls''. (That said, Mojang would rename the game ''VideoGame/CallersBane'' in 2018, well after Notch's departure from the company.)
* It is now possible, in creative, to latch onto animals with a fishing rod, fly up to a very great height and yank them, thus causing them to go flying for miles. It never gets old.
* When you understand one of the references made in the splash screen.
** There's one that says "Less addictive than TV Tropes!"
* The 1.1 update added multiple language options. Guess what one of the options is? [[TalkLikeAPirate Pirate!]]
** One of languages added in the 1.9 update is [[WebOriginal/{{LOLCats}} the LOLcat language]]. Seriously.
* A chunks error can cause [[http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Djinnhunter/wtf.png this]] to happen. That player won't be running out of beef any time soon.
* Version 1.2 introduces something that Creepers are afraid of: Cats. No, really. Tame a few and watch Creepers avoid you like the plague.
* The code for enchanting, when translated, is completely random and nonsensical. What the nether is "shorten wet beast physical?"
* Ghasts sound like [[MemeticMutation crying babies]]. What are the sounds they really make? The demented meows of C418's cat, slowed down.
* [[ImprobableWeaponUser Beating something to death with a porkchop. Or an egg. Or seeds. Or a mushroom. Or whatever you feel like using.]]
* In 1.6, the villagers were given voices. They also eerily resemble Squidward. Three guesses to who their talking sounds like...
* Spawning on a tiny island far, far, FAR away from any sort of mainland, and only having a small tree to work with is as fun as having a diamond pick shoved up your nose. Proceeding to turn all of the wood into sticks and not getting a sapling, however, is funny once your mind registers what you just did.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNG_Ayqb-ts Notch and Patrick randomly decide where to hold Minecon 2013.]]
* Trying to kill an Enderman by dropping him out of a dirt platform over the void may not be a good idea, due to the OneInAMillionChance of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JHFQYM_T54&t=18m5s him stealing the block]] [[TakingYouWithMe both of you are standing on]].
* Whenever skeletons shoot each other. They'll stop pursuing you, turn to whoever shot them, and return the favor. A duel to the death will then commence.
** Better yet, enclose them and take bets. It's cockfighting [-WITH SKELETONS!-]
** It's even worse with witches. All it takes is one stray splash potion and suddenly every witch in the vicinity will turn on each other[[note]]This no longer works on Java as of version 1.14, though it still works on Bedrock[[/note]]. And none of them will die because they heal themselves faster than they can inflict debuffs and damage. It's quite a sight to behold, but if you get caught in the crossfire, your death is assured.
** Tricking a skeleton into killing a Creeper will result in an EasterEgg in which the Creeper drops a music disc upon being killed.
* [[https://mojang.com/2015/10/minecraft-snapshot-15w41b/ Dinnerbone's summary]] of snapshot 15w41 sounds like a description of an action film scene.
-->''This week’s snapshot brings you the ability to [[SoftGlass smash out of the window]] of a high tower building, fly past the bad guys who are all [[ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy shooting you with surprisingly bad accuracy]], swoop down and land flawlessly into a strategically placed boat and then paddle away at moderately high speeds with the stolen prize pig in the back.\
\
I’m not really sure what it all means, though.''
* Caves & Cliffs Update: Part I – Official Trailer or as one youtuber put it [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0maWbr0FHKY 'Minecraft: The Goat Update']]. The best part is a FreezeFrameBonus where, after a Mama Trader Llama spits on a baby goat, [[MamaBear Mama Goat]] headbutts her away, dragging the poor Wandering Trader with her.
* The Caves & Cliffs Update: Part II – Official Trailer has Steve and Alex get separated in a cave, culminating in Alex having the time of her life traversing a brightly lit Lush Cave while Steve is in a constant state of panic in a pitch-black Dripstone Cave.
** When the two regroup, [[LightswitchSurprise Steve takes out a torch to reveal an entire army of Skeletons shooting at them]]... [[ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy who are all missing even though Steve and Alex are standing still]].
---> '''Youtube Comment:''' [[LampshadeHanging You know it's a trailer when those aimbot skeletons didn't hit a single arrow on them]]
** When the two finally exit the cave, they end up on a snowy peak. A Goat promptly knocks [[ButtMonkey Steve]] off the edge.
