The plan works perfectly, with a thoroughly cooled-down Ippo going limp as steam rises from him. Then this exchange happens.

This commentary goes over well with the men in the audience, rooting for the "good son", encouraging him to beat the crap out of the pretty boy and to "go for the face!"; this prompts Hayami's girl fans to cheer him on, telling him to "beat that ugly guy" and "give that momma's boy a KO".
19	* Sendo's first episode has a scene where Takamura mistakes Sendo for Aoki in the showers, tried to grab him, and Sendo counterattacks by ''grabbing Takamura instead''. Ippo and the others's horrified reactions only made it even ''funnier''.
20	** The fact that Sendo's reaction was more annoyance and him saying "be careful, you could have killed it!" is only one part that makes the scene funnier; but he's also a huge fan of Takamura, so the moment becomes far more awkward from an outside point of view. He starts staring at Takamura (at this point both of them are still naked) and grinning with the intent to ask him for an autograph- naturally, Takamura (who is not as endowed as Sendo in the same way that he falls short of Ippo) takes this the wrong way, leading to the fight and subsequent cock-grab.
21	* When an impressed Takamura requested Sendo to go up to his weight class and fight him (featherweight to middleweight) after being hit by "The Smash", Sendo complained he'd become too fat to fight. They then had an ImagineSpot of him being a [[SuperDeformed mascot-like pudgy version of himself]].
22	* When Ippo tries to learn more about Sendo through watching his matches on video. Too bad that the tape he chose, Takamura had taped half of it over with porn.
23	** At the end of the tape, we're about to see Sendo's finishing move. Instead, the ending to the porn.

Ippo, Takamura and Kimura arrive to the gym in time (and Takamura gets yelled at by Kamogawa for his... antics), but Aoki doesn't. The three are sure that he's had it worse and call him to his apartment to check on him. The one who answers the call? Tomiko, Aoki's date. The guys's faces are ''priceless''.
30	* In the anime, while training for his match with Miyata, Ippo shadow boxes with Kimura to music in perfect tandem. However, Kimura ends up synching with Ippo a little ''too well'', which results in them doing a strange pose.

32	* Generally, any scene involving Ippo, Kumi, and Mashiba Ryo will often be comedy gold, but special mention must be made to Ippo's first one-on-one date with Kumi after his loss to Date Eiji. Kumi informs Ippo that she's never had a real boyfriend because Ryo tends to intimidate potential suitors, and will even actively go out of their way to "meet" them. They then go to the theme park's haunted house, where Ippo suggests Ryo was waiting for her out of concern, and that he'd probably do the same if he knew Ippo was on a date with her- at which point, she tells him Ryo already knows. Up till this point, Ippo has been reassuring Kumi that everything around them is fake and won't hurt her. Cue Ippo looking to the side and seeing Ryo's menacing glare peering from around the corner- Ippo loses his shit and screams, running for the exit.

Miyata was surprised by it, but Takamura told him that he was using this camp for secret training in order to beat someone back home. When Miyata saw Takamura having trouble catching fish, he decided to try his luck at it. After numerous failed attempts and being made fun of by Takamura, Miyata was fed up and landed a punch on Takamura while he was laughing. He got yelled at Takamura while Miyata thought he would dodge it.[[/note]]

73	** After a brief discussion about Kimura's lack of a girlfriend, Aoki calls him. He says that he'll show them some other time, just as he walks past them holding a little girl's hand, surprising everyone in a big misunderstanding. The next chapter shows him coming out of a police station.
74	* Chapters 943 and 944. Takamura gets into a bar fight with Sendo, Mashiba, Saeki, Okita and ''a drunk Date''. [[OneManArmy Of course, he easily wins]].

80	* In Chapter 1214, Shinoda is trolled by Ippo's mom over the fact that he visited prostitutes. Because Ippo, Kumi, and Nanako don't understand the slang he used, they ask him to give an explanation.
81	* After Takamura defeats his latest challenger, he addresses the crowd with a mic, apologizing for being too strong for his opponent. This causes the crowd to boo at him for being so arrogant and disrespecting his opponent. Then he states he is leaving the middleweight class for the super middleweight class. This gets the crowd to start cheering his name again. Takamura, being the arrogant prick that he is, decides to once again state how sorry he is for being too strong. The crowd once again boos his arrogant bragging.
82	* In chapter 1276, Ippo attends a class reunion, where a pretty former classmate he had a crush on admits that she was only able to personally watch three of his matches. She doesn't remember who he fought in them, but then shows that she kept the commemorative pamphlets. They were his matches against Date, Gonzalez, and Guevara, his three losses.
83	* Chapter 1280 has Ippo spending time with Kumi (while accompanied by his disciples and Wanpo). Ippo makes the mistake of mentioning that in his recent class reunion, Aikawa, a girl he knew, said he hasn't changed.
84	** It gets worse, Ippo goes on to say that Aikawa mentioned watching his matches and how happy he was she cared. He also mentions that she said something about "Even if just for tonight", [[ObliviousToLove with no idea what she meant]].
85	** When he mentions that he got her number, Kumi reveals that she really is [[NightmareFace Mashiba's sister]]. Thankfully, Ippo then says that he lost her number, causing Kumi to say that she must have been a sly fox.

Unfortunately, Mashiba shows up in the room just as the two are trying to share a kiss. Then he asks Ippo what he's doing, only for Ippo to give the worst possible answer.
